The Staybridge Suites San Diego - Sorrento Mesa is an outstanding hotel.  My family and I felt very "at home" in this hotel back in March of 2011.  The new general manager is respectful and perceptive, and he does whatever it takes to meet guests' (reasonable) expectations.  A pleasant, efficient, "we'll go the extra mile" attitude was also displayed by the vast majority of the rest of the hotel staff.  Common/public areas are clean, smell fresh, look smart, and could be the backdrop for personal time or business meetings.  The website and front desk staff accurately describe the many benefits of staying at the hotel.  La Jolla seal cove and Pacific Beach are only about 15-18 minutes away.  Carlsbad is no problem to get to either.  Hotel is adjacent to a gas station and a strip mall with major grocery store, restaurants, and other services.  Quiet hotel with posted hours for the sport court and swimming pool areas.

We use Staybridge for family visits. They offer great service for reasonable prices. The great thing is it is a fully furnished apartment with kitchen and everything. Can recommend it for larger family gatherings.

We used the two bed and baths suite, and it was spacious and in nice conditions.

This place met our needs . Location wise its conveniently located where there are restaurants and a decent grocery store . They serve a hot breakfast that seemed to have a decent variety of items .
We stayed in a two-bed suite which was well furnished , although the bed was a little uncomfortable . The televisions are the old CRT type (which personally for me was not a big problem as I was mostly outdoors ) .Very central to San Diego attractions . We were also able to cook during our stay . They also have amenities such as a fitness room , a laundry room ( u need to get ur own detergent though ! ) and a business center with computers and a Laser printer . I was able to print last minute tickets to San Diego attractions using their computers . The Wi-fi is extremely slow and sporadic . I would give them 5 stars if they had better wi-fi . To circumvent this , I used the ethernet (wired) connection that they provide in one of the rooms . It seemed to work more reliably .

Recommended for people travelling with family .

Dig this place! It's set up more like an apartment rather than your average run of the mill hotel room so you have great amenities like a full kitchen and multiple rooms. Didn't really have the opportunity to explore the other extra's like the hybrid basketball/tennis court, atrium area, weight room and pool but did get to partake in the incredible free breakfast! I'm not talking "continental" either. This place has one of the best full breakfast buffet servings I've had at a hotel. I've actually paid $20 for the buffet at other hotel restaurants and didn't get as good an offering. There is also a free 24 hour "business center" available to guests which is great for printing boarding passes and getting a quick Yelp fix. Great experience and check in/check out was a breeze!

I just spent 4 nights here which included enjoying the blackout on Thursday.  The location is decent, right next to a shopping center with tons of food options.  Employees are definitely friendly and the breakfast bar was pretty good.  Free dinner tuesday-thursday is also good.  Wednesday night they actually grilled up hot dogs and hamburgers and served them with mac n cheese, macaroni salad and potato salad.  Yum!  Thursday's dinner was sadly cancelled due to the blackout but the staff still put of fresh salad and chips with free beer and wine in the dark which made for plenty of "meeting your neighbors".  I would give this place 5 stars for their fantastic service; what destroys it for me was the awful, hard bed and tiny tube TV.  Just get this place a softer bed and pillows and a flat screen and I'd stay here every trip to San Diego.

Through the website, we requested a two bed suite.  However, we got there, and there was one queen.  My accomplice is a kicker in her sleep, and didn't want to subject me to numerous unsightly contusions.  After calling down to the front desk, they explained that the couch was a foldout bed.  Since when in hotel lingo, other than a college house, was a foldout construed as another bedding option?  In my lifetime, I've been part of groups that have crammed up to 11 people in a single hotel room, but when you're paying $$$ (or at least $$) you kind of expect a double room to have two beds.

Other than that, it was a satisfactory room.  Small sink/counter, with the hangers/closet space 3 feet behind it.  Didn't need to use the kitchen, but it looked like everything was in working order.  Noise was a psuedo-issue.  Big rigs pull into the Shell station across the way all night, and the loud AC "machine" didn't do much to drown it out because it was too busy making its own noise all night.  Finally turned it off at 4am.

Continental breakfast was alright.  Open from about 6:30am - 10:30am.  I suggest getting there earlier rather than later.  Wolfgang Puck sponsors the coffee, and his large face was plastered everywhere.  Lots of things needed to be refilled, and I think I stepped on fallen Cheerios every 3rd step. The employees who work there appear to hate their jobs.

The fact that they serve warm cookies upon check-in can only offset so much.

This place has comfortable spacious suites at a affordable price.

The complimentary buffet is disgusting or maybe Its because Im always hung over while eating it. Probably both.

The Staff is friendly.

Good place to have a drink with some friends. *Wink *Wink

Rooms must be soundproof or something. *Wink *Wink

If you want a nice place to stay in San Diego and don't want to break the bank, this is as good as it gets.  The hotel is clean and well maintained.  The breakfast is substantial.  Most of the people staying there are young professionals working for Qualcomm or one of the other high-tech companies in the area.  For this reason the rooms are SUPER quiet. When in our room, it felt like we were the only ones there.

We stayed in their suite for two days. compared to those four or five star hotels i've been to, this one was way better and cheaper.

we booked on hotwire.

if you are a guest, there is a free breakfast buffet in the morning. its fully loaded with bacon, pancakes, eggs, juice, coffee, cereal, bagels, milk, toast, and even a wafflemaker!

their amenities are pretty sweet.
free laundry and gym.
pool, tennis, volleyball, and basketball court downstairs.
near the freeway, about two exit away from nearest wal-mart and down
the street from the mall.

they allow dogs to stay here for about 15 a night.

as to the suite, we had a giant bed, a standard bathroom, pullout couch, two tvs (one in living room, one in bedroom) and a full kitchen.

everything is provided (toaster, pots, dishes, spoons, forks, cups, fridge, etc)

overall, i had a good experience and really recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 3 days on a busy weekend. They had technical issues with their computers upon check in and we had to wait about 20 minutes. Not a big deal since we didn't have anywhere to be at midnight but would've wished they comped us for something...although everything comes free with your hotel (except for the 24 hour Pantry "mini mart"). The elevators are a bit outdated but the rooms far exceeded my expectations. We had a small kitchen that included a dishwasher, oven, coffee maker, microwave, and medium size fridge! All kitchen utensils were also provided as well as dish soap and sponges! We only used some kitchen utensils but everything else seemed to be in working order. There is free WiFi, laundry, gym room, business area (yes, you can even print out your boarding passes for free), pool, and basketball court. My favorite part is the free continental breakfast! We were only able to partake in 1 day of breakfast. They had tea, coffee, juice, bagels, muffins, toast, eggs, sausage patties, waffles, cereal, cottage cheese, and fruit. The breakfast lady was quick to refill breakfast items. The only issue I had with her is that I saw her pet a couple's dog at the breakfast area with her GLOVES on and she then proceeded to continue refilling the breakfast area. Um... gross?

Oh, and they leave out the coffee and hot water dispensers all day and night so if you want any beverages, it's right there at your service! I had a couple of coffee and teas throughout my day.

Although we were here on a busy weekend, we didn't hear our neighbors even though our room is adjacent to the elevators. We did, however, here the all the noises from the car washing place next to the hotel.

I just can't rave enough about this place!

Excellent place to stay. Excellent people and service!!!! Many staff members were knowledgable about the area and helpful as to what to see/do and how to get the most bang for your buck. I especially loved:
- the complimentary shuttle that will drive u anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel (trainstation is within 4!!! You can take the coaster downtown, to old town or oceanside)
- the really good hot breakfast every morning
- the complimentary "social" tues through thurs which includes dinner, beer, wine and soda (5:30 - 7:30).
- wine/liquor store next door as well as fast food places and grocery store
- rental car across the street
- pool, fitness center, bad mitten, tennis, and basketball court.
- extremely clean rooms

I highly recommend checking out the restaurant 2mi away named Karl Strauss

Downside is the hotel is located on an industrial/ business road. You must take the train/trolley/car to site seeing tourist places.

I wish I could give this place 20 stars instead of 5. This hotel is a little piece of Heaven!! Starting with the staff - very friendly and pleasant people. My room was on the 3rd floor, as soon as I walked in I was IN LOVE. The room looked like an apartment, there is a kitchen with an oven, a microwave AND a dish washer, WHAT!!! Adorable! Talk about making me feel comfortable and cozy in there. In the drawers they had plates, cups, forks, spoons, frying pans, etc. This hotel room looks so much better than my apartment - I honestly didn't want to check out the next day.

The bathroom was spacious and beautiful - the little lotion bottle they leave for you smells SO GOOD, I wanted to get more bottles to go. Inside the room there is a couch too. The bed was soft and comfortable, I slept like a baby all night. The room was clean and smelled fresh.

This is the BEST hotel room I've ever been in. I'll be coming back for sure!
LOVE this place!!!

We got a one bedroom suite on a Saturday on very late notice. We had a small 10 lb pet and our options were limited. We needed to stay in San Diego until Sunday. Staybridge in Sorrento Mesa provided the beds we needed (two fulls and sleeper couch) and it accepted dogs. On top of this, it was well reviewed on Yelp, and had an excellent price for everything it was offering. The bonfire on the courtyard out back was a great evening gathering spot for conversation. The basketball courts provided a great activity for our couple of teenagers. The hotel also included a small gym which one of us used for a quick run, and we also decided to put in a quick wash load (complimentary) with soap we purchased in a handy little store called The Pantry. The hotel also had coffee and tea after regular hours, and the breakfast was well received. Wifi connection was a breeze and never failed. Suite was clean, felt like my own apartment, and had every amenity i needed. Beds and sheets felt clean, and were comfortable. It was overall, an excellent experience for great value.

The staff are very accommodating and very nice people, from front desk to housekeeping.  Excellent location.  Hotel offers free breakfast and social three nights a week.  Gym, swimming pool, free laundry and full kitchenette are great amenities.  Great for long stay.  I will definitely recommend it.

PROS: Front desk people are super nice. Great location! Tons of shopping and dining on Mira Mesa Blvd. About 30 minutes from Petco Park or downtown. They have a pool, fitness area, basketball court and tennis court. I peeked at the fitness area. It's not big , but it's clean and the equipment looked nice. The complimentary breakfast is nice. It is the same day after day. The room is nice. Love the couch! A TV in the living room and bedroom. A nice big desk. The kitchen has most of what you need. It does not have an oven, but does have a microwave, stove, and toaster.

CONS: No spare roll of toilet paper. No Kleenex. Problems keeping the bathtub stopper up while taking a shower. Were suppose to get two queens and they were more like fulls. We did not choose to complain because I was already unpacked. My son shared with his mom to make due. The first night was way too tight for my wife and I. Room service is not actually located in the hotel and was very pricey!

My husband came here for business and me and my son for vacation. Stayed here for 2 weeks and couldn't ask for more! The staff is super friendly especially the maids they make sure your room is cleaned everyday and if I ever needed anything extra such as shampoo or conditioner they were not hesitant to give it to me. This suite comes with free breakfast every morning and dinner Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursday which included FREE beer and wine!! It also has a pool, gym and basketball/tennis court. Also stay bridge is conveniently located about 20 mins away from the San Diego zoo and sea world. And there is a food court right next to it. Overall I would defiantly recommend this hotel.

Listen to Adriana D.'s advice.  ASK IF THEY'RE STILL RENOVATING!!!

My husband and I were so happy to ha e a three day getaway sans-toddler, and we ended up with construction outside our door waking us up at 7 am.  Not cool guys.

Luckily they moved us to another room for the next night.

We decided to use this place again (great location, good breakfast) months later and the same thing happened again.  Agggghgh guys really?

This hotel is good, but like I said call first to check on this!!

Stayed here for 3 nights.
Booked a 2 bedroom suite as we went with a family.
Rooms were clean. Staff is very friendly.
Kids had fun. Parents were happy what more could I ask for.

Conveniently located near shopping malls / restaurants.

Really pleasant experience. Much better than some of the big names / expensive hotel / suites.

I stayed at the Staybridge Suites in San Diego for 5 nights for business in March 2015, and found the hotel to be excellent, especially for those who need extended stay lodgings.

The hotel is located in the Northern part of San Diego, a short drive from the freeway in a business/office district.  It's located directly behind a Shell gas station, and to the East is a large outdoor strip mall with; Burger King, Subway, Starbucks, Pizzeria, Sushi, Kentucy Friend Chicken, donut shop, food court, 24 hour Fresh and Easy market, Bev-Mo liquor store, UPS business store.  All of these are a very short and easy walk from the hotel.  If you want to visit Old Town or the Gas Lamp district it is about a 15-30 minute drive depending on traffic.

The hotel is a U-Shaped, 4 story building which is well maintained and nicely decorated.  Parking is located around the building, and there is no fee for parking.  There is NO RESORT FEE at this hotel.  The hotel as the following amenities; small heated pool, fire pit, 2 BBQs, full basketball court, a 24 hour mini-market, a small gym.  There is a 24 hour free laundry room with 4 washers, and four dryers (they sell soap, bleach, and cling-free for $1.50 each at the mini-mart).  I'm not sure of the area, but there is a free hotel shuttle to the numerous businesses/offices in the area.
There is a free buffet breakfast each morning.  They did a good job of changing up the items each morning.  There is always an egg dish, potato dish, and meat dish.  There is a pancake and waffle machine, breads, oatmeal with toppings, yogurt, four different kinds of cereal,  juice, coffee, tea, and milk.  This was probably one of the nicer free hotel breakfast I've had.  You could tell a lot of work and effort went into the prep and presentation.
On Tuesday - Thursday the hotel provided a free light dinner buffet which consist of a meat dish, a salad bar, soup, and cookies.  They also provided soft drinks, two different kinds of kinds of beer and red/white wine.  The meal was different each night, and again one of the better free hotel dinner buffets I have had.

I had a standard room which was a medium to large size, very clean and well maintained.  It was also nice decorated.  You first walked into a full kitchen with a large refrigerator with a ice maker, dishwasher, oven, 2 burner stove top, toaster oven, dishes, flatware, glasses, and cookware.  There was a desk and chair.  A sectional couch which was also a sleeper sofa.  A very comfortable queen bed, pillows were also very comfortable.  A medium size flat screen HD television with lots of cable channels and 3 free HBO channels.  There is also a DVD player. The TV was positioned to where it could be seen from anywhere in the room.  The room also came with free WIFI, and the signal was very strong.  There was an iron/board, and laundry basket.  The room also has lot of closet and drawer space.

The bathroom was medium sized, very clean and well maintained.  The sink/vanity was separate from the shower/tub and toilet.  There was also a blow dryer in the vanity area.

My only two negatives about this hotel was that there is no Jacuzzi/spa, and the A/C in the room seemed loud to me.  Other than those two minor issues, the hotel was fantastic.  I will definitely stay here again for business or with my family for vacation.

My husband and I are not happy that they don't set aside rooms for guests that are allergic to pets. We understand that you're a pet-friendly hotel, but we feel discriminated against as we have health issues and there are no rooms available for us where pets have not stayed. We also find that the location is unsafe being next to a gasoline station and car wash facility. We could have enjoyed our stay if your suites have scenic views and not a view of the wall. The manager called me back regarding these issues, but I feel that she is more defensive than comprehensive of our concerns. Nonetheless, we appreciated her giving us a call back 5 days later after the message we left her. Also, please make sure that you're checking on some of the guests during the social hour as some were taking an enormous amount of food (ex. burgers) to feed their dogs. This is not fair for guests like us who are not left with food because of this avoidable situation.

As of right now, this place has been our home away from home. The staff is wonderful. They're very friendly and have great customer service. The hotel has complimentary breakfast every day as well as complimentary dinners on Tuesday through Thursday. The room has a lot of space. We currently have a junior suite and it's already spacious for us. Also, this hotel is pet friendly which we love because we can bring our dog with us. Love the outdoor stuff too. It has a basketball court/tennis court, swimming pool and a little bonfire pit. Loving our stay so far. Will definitely recommend to others!

My stay here was so nice!  the only thing that dissappointed me a bit was that i requested a crib and when i arrived they were all out of cribs.  i didnt know that it was a first come first basis. However, the gentleman up front upgrades us to a larger room )2 bdrm) and it was so nice and clean.  not only was the room really nice but it was very spacious.  The free breakfast buffet (YES buffet!) was also great.  My family and I will look for staybridge suites whenever we travel away from home.  Oh!  did i say that the rooms are very reasonable price.
