Location is great. Manager was helpful and friendly. However, when the manager wasn't around, ok'ish service. It's not a big place so not much hotel staff on hand. We tried to check-in at 3 but was told that our room wasn't ready. There were only 2 people on duty at the time and when we inquired about our room, we were bluntly told that 'she was off the clock' and to wait for someone else to help us. Anyway, finally checked in at 4 and when we got to our room, the cleaning lady just stepped out with a wet mop. The floor was wet with muddy footprints. The room setup was ok, no carpet. The bed was hard and creaked with every move. We had a tiny window so not much natural light. Hotel was noisy...especially in the early hours of the morning -sounded like someone was dragging cans back and forth the alleyway. Cable went out and parking sucks. We probably would have been able to overlook most of these things if only the staff was nicer.

Staff was great and Manager was very nice! The rooms are small but more than enough. You are located in the Heart of the city, blocks away from the harbor. Pet Friendly is a +++. Very convenient. Parking was my only issue.

Great location, value, accommodations and staff!  Above all else I love a clean hotel and this place did not let down. Definitely recommend staying here. Also awesome they rent bikes for only $10 and on the Weekends the farmers market is next door.

Very basic, but better than a run-of-the-mill hotel that you see in every city. It's small, but quaint and going for a hip vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by their continental breakfast. And super close to great spots in Little Italy!

Super cute & "unique" lil hotel. If you can get past the parking situation it is very nice. We'll be back! ;)

This hotel is one of the best small and very well decorated places I have been and it is centered in little Italy in San Diego, not far from mission beach and the famous Coronado island and bridge. Just a beautiful place in a beautiful city.

Avoid this hotel AT ALL COSTS! The location is fabulous-walking distance to lots of restaurants, but thats where the positives end. Parking is bad, which is to be expected in this area, but the actual accommodations are just awful. The bed feels like a box spring - hard as a rock! The entire room is loud, tiny, and not kept up very well. Checked in at 6pm, checked out at 7:45 am the next day.

My review is about incredible customer service I received from the Urban Boutique Hotel.  Recently, I booked this hotel for 2 nights weekend in March  - Non refundable. In case of cancelation, I would need to pay almost the full price. When the weekend came, we packed our staff and got ready to go.  I printed my reservation confirmation and then I realizes that for some reason (I have no idea how it happened and how I did not notice it before), my reservation was for September and not March!!!  I thought that I will try to at-least maybe ask them to change it to this weekend. So, I checked the hotel website, but they were completely booked!  I called Booking. com travel agency that I booked this hotel with.  The agent was so understanding and sympathetic.  She called the hotel and ask them for a favor. The hotel was so kind! They cancelled my reservation without a penalty!  Yes, it was a huge exception, which I really appreciate!  Thank you very much, Urban Boutique Hotel and thank you Booking.com !

Place is very contemporary. Room was small. Bed was a double. Booked through Expedia for $100. Price included ride to and from the airport. Staff was very very nice. Free wifi. Continental breakfast. The place was more than what I expected for that price. Would stay here again

Hotel was awesome! staff was so nice, the owner and friend doing the beer tasting in the lobby the night we were there were great, and the beer was even better. The rooms are cute and have everything you need like a fridge, freezer, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer etc. air conditioning is perfect. short cab ride into the nightlife scene. would definitely stay here again :)

My boyfriend and I booked a room with them march 25th-27th 2014. The location was great, right in little Italy. It's walking distance to the restaurants and everything in the little Italy area. We got lucky with parking because we went during the middle of the week. We didn't want to risk losing our great spot so we walked to everything. Even the gas lamp district, which isn't a far walk. About 15-20 mins. And by night we caught a cab ride back to the hotel which was only a $6 ride. Okay, so our room was descent. Small but nice. We requested the 4th floor when we booked. Didn't want to be on the first floor or next to the lobby. They provided breakfast which was nice. Would go back again given the price and area.

Had a great time at this hotel! The room was a little small but it fit into the little Italy feel! It is great for the price! The staff was so nice and the rooms were very clean. We had bikes and they were happy to keep them locked in their alley so nothing happened to them. Great experience and would definitely stay here again! The parking was a few blocks away and $15 but the walk was nice. Wonderful location.

I really enjoyed this hotel. Nice location, nice free food, quite comfortable, and the free wifi was also a plus. I really like the $10/day bike rental, I thought that was a great way to roam around San Diego (I had no car) and explore the area. The staff was also quite friendly!

If you're looking for a hotel to stay at in Little Italy, I would highly recommend Urban.  Compared to other hotels in the area, Urban is very reasonable.  The staff is nice, the rooms are quiet and the location is excellent.  The beds are firm, so if you need a soft bed, look somewhere else.  The building still smells of smoke, but that would be a major renovation to get rid of the smell.  They allow pets for $20 a day and free if they are a service dog.  They charge $20 a day to park and I am not sure where their lot is.  I have had the fortune of always finding a spot on the street.  The furthest I parked was 3 blocks to the south and 2 the west.  I didn't mind, but I know it will be an issue with others.  There is a free breakfast bar in the morning with pastries, breads, cereal, fruit, coffee and juices.  The best rooms are in the corners of the building and the higher the floor the better.

Great hotel!!! Super clean and the location is to die for!!! Right in the heart of little italy with some  great dining options. The staff here is really friendly and accommodating. The only thing with the hotel is the beds are super uncomfortable, but is good just for a couple of nights, if the beds get upgraded this will be 5 stars!!!!!

Pretty good place to stay for a one night visit. The parking is a nightmare, but that's California. Couple slightly annoying things: smoke detector went off for about 10 minutes because we were taking hot showers... When we called the front desk they knew right away what the problem was, but didn't have a way to stop it. I've never had that issue before at a hotel, very strange. Also some of the outlets didn't work so the women at the front desk had to come and re-set the breakers. Everyone was nice and the breakfast was decent. Wi-fi connection wasn't great. Excellent location though. I wouldn't suggest a long stay here, but it did the job for one night!

This is a fun hotel. Amazing staff, very helpful, and fun. Good hotel for the price.  Pretty spacious rooms. It could use a good work desk. Very unique, nice decor, a little bohemian. Definitely worth it.

The price is okay given that we only paid $74, however for two people I think the room is too small! Also, the parking situation needs to get figured out ASAP. There is not a parking area next to the hotel. You have to park about a block away and it is limited to a few parking spots. The hotel is okay for one person, but not for two. Beware of the construction next door. Luckily, we checked out early. If you are planning to sleep in I would take the construction into consideration.

This room does just what it's supposed to do which is provide a bed to rest...and it's great for people looking to enjoy the night life (bars, restaurants, and close to the gas lamp) on the weekends in little italy.  Other than that, there's no parking with the exception of 32 dollar parking for 24 hours and when we went out for the day (almost 8 hours), the cleaning service never even got to our rooms to clean.  I also agree with another review.  Unless it's not a big problem, the hallway does smell like weed.  The rooms are a tad small (studio size) but unless you have a big family, it shouldn't be a problem.

Loved this place! If you meet Alexis your in for a treat! She works the front desk and is as sweet and helpful as anyone one you would ever love to meet. Out room was great, we had an amazing view. We checked in, hoped to trolley to a Padre game, came back to the hotel freshened up and headed out to dinner in Little Italy a block away. We had a restful sleep and some nice breakfast stuff and were off to the day activities. We will return it's just the perfect place!

This is a lovely boutique hotel just one short block off the main street in Little Italy. Even though we are locals, we spent the night there so we could enjoy that area without having to drive home. The hotel has the charm of an older building, but it was just recently totally renovated so everything is very clean and in good working order. The young lady at the front desk was quite hospitable and helpful. We will definitely be going back!

Seriously, this place is super cute!! If you are humble & want to stay at a place that is literally in the middle of little Italy, this place is it! The room is a bit small but the price, decor, service & free wifi makes up for it. Booked a room via kayak for my girlfriends birthday getaway & love the location!

Clean, friendly and great location. The rooms and hotel were very clean. Rooms weren't very big but more than enough. The hotel staff were very friendly an more than willing to help. They seemed to enjoy their job and it showed. The location of the hotel was great. It wasn't directly on the main drag in little Italy but definitely right in the heart of it.  It was a nice walking distance from the boardwalk (1mi), a street away from the Main Street in little Italy. Your surrounded by restaurants. We lucked out and were able to go to the farmers market on Cedar! A short drive to balboa park and the gas lamp district.

Spent 3 nights and enjoyed the stay.  In Little Italy section and close to lots of restaurants and night life.  Can walk to sea front and Anthony's USS Midway. Room was VERY small but very clean.  Double bed but comfortable. Nice simple continental breakfast. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. No real parking available like any downtown.  For the location and price cannot be beaten downtown... Once they fix the rattle in the A/C

Great little hotel, it's not the most appealing from the outside but in a good location, directly behind all the shops in little Italy, and only a short cab ride to gaslamp. I really enjoyed this hotel, the free continental breakfast was great! And they have a farmers market right around the corner, I believe it's every Saturday. The rooms were small and compact but well laid out. Staff was friendly and very welcoming. I definitely recommend it.

Although the rooms are quite small it's nice for a couples stay. Found this little place using to hotels tonight app, with the right price I decided to try it out and I'm glad I did. It's in the heart of little Italy. The staff was so helpful and kind. The atmosphere and decor was nice and new. The rooms are a bit small but they are very clean and have new decor. The only complaint I would have is that the beds are a pretty hard for my taste but I think some people like that. Over all I would visit again.

This hotel was PERFECT for us!. Location is right in the heart of Little Italy, walked to all our locations. It is a Boutique hotel with perks. The room was clean, the bed, the decor and the extra touches were classy. Staff was more than helpful and the breakfast in the morning had fresh baked goods. Would highly recommend this hotel to others in a heart beat.

Nice little hotel in Little Italy with a great location, right next to the GLORIOUS Saturday morning Farmer's Market (best one I've ever seen!). Dog friendly if requested at time if booking ($20 upcharge for each doggy). Small rooms that are tastefully decorated. Don't expect grand elegance here, but you will find a friendly, warm atmosphere and a clean and comfy place to rest your head. Be sure to book reservations to dine at nearby Kettner Exchange restaurant during your stay. You will be glad you did!  As others mentioned, parking is an issue. We had to park 4 blocks away and then be sure to get up and move our car before 8 am!!  That was a drag. Also, breakfast was included in the price so that was a nice perk.

We needed a last minute hotel because the inconsiderate staff at La Pensione refused to allow us into our room at 3am since there were "already 4 people in there." So we found Urban Boutique. James from front desk staff was kind enough to offer us a great rate. The room is small but does the job and includes breakfast! Service here was wonderful. We will be staying here again during our next trip to San Diego.

I like this hotel. Good price and look forward to coming back. Only negatives was the a/c was noisy, no drapes to keep the sunshine from shining into your room at 630am, but small, but cozy. Comes with a coffee maker, fridge, and flat screen tv. Price is right book it, but if it's within a few dollars of he doubletree or any other major chain hotel in the area, then book them. I wouldn't pay more than $110 a night for a cramped room.. Mattress is also rock hard as well

Gotta love the location right next to Little Italy. There are tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance, great for bar hopping and exploring places to eat. The hotel offers bike rentals for $10 for the day.

The room was nice, but much smaller than I expected.  Perhaps that's because I booked the cheapest room with a double bed. The bed was very stiff, which I didn't personally mind but I can see that being a problem for some. The sink was next to bed... which was kind of awkward.  The included continental breakfast was extremely basic, but free is always nice.

On the bright side, there was free wifi, a big flat screen with free cable, and the place is very clean, contemporary,  and modern. The room included a microwave,  fridge,  coffee maker, iron, and a safe. There is also a business center with computer access, a television, and lounging area. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

I would definitely come here for the location and price!

Great location!! My wife and I went to San Diego for two things...beer and the zoo. This hotel is walking distance to 5 great beer spots: stone, ballast point, karl strauss, bottleworks, and craft and commerce. The zoo is only 6-8 mins driving. So the location is spot on, now about the rooms. They are small but very cozy, no need for a big room most of the time. The only downside about this place is the breakfast. Only granola, fruit, and bagels kinda disappointing. Overall this place is great for couples and people that what a great deal for a great location.

This hotel is good, but nothing great. The location is, however, pretty fantastic. Unfortunately they don't have parking of any kind which is very problematic in a busy area like Little Italy and the guest loading zone (max 3 minutes) had 3 cars parked there with no sign that anyone was around or leaving soon so we had to park 5 blocks away ($15 for 24 hour in/out, no security parking) and carry all of our heavy bags back to the hotel. We paid for 24-hr parking and still got a violation ticket which I am painfully trying to dispute.

The front desk lady was friendly, and our room was ready when we arrived. The hotel is extremely old, but nicely decorated to look trendy. The room was on the first floor and right next to reception which was really awkward as we could hear people talking in the lobby and I'm sure they could hear us. The room was TINY and hot. There was an air conditioner but it was so loud we could only have it on sporadically.

The price was reasonable for a hotel in this area, so I would recommend it for a home base if you only need somewhere to drop your things and sleep but not spend any time in hanging out, etc. Lots of restaurants within a few blocks and very walkable.  I do not recommend if you are looking for a hotel with amenities or somewhere to relax and hang out. Also not recommended if walking is an issue for you because of the lack of parking.

A minor, but very annoying this is that they add on $1.50/night for use of the safety deposit box and you are supposed to tell them if you don't use it when you check out, so they can remove the charge from your room. Obviously you are going to forget to tell them so they apply the charge and it's not worth the effort asking them to refund, correct and re-charge you. It's a tiny thing that likely doesn't generate much money for them but leaves a sore spot when you check out. They just just remove it or add it to the nightly rate and not annoy guests. The wifi only worked for me half the time.

The housekeeping lady who also arranged the continental breakfast was very sweet and kept asking how she could help. She was wonderful!

We LOVED this hotel! The staff, the room, the continental breakfast - it was perfect for the location, price and our needs. We intended to star here only for one night, but because it was so awesome, we booked it for a second night. Our room was clean, modern and super cute (small, but perfect for my partner and I). I honestly don't have anything negative to say about this place!! I would totally book this place again when visiting SD in the future.

It's a block away from "Little Italy," with so many great restaurants and shops. It's In a great neighborhood - I felt safe walking to the hotel from the parking lot, (which is 2-3 blocks away for another $15, but with in and out privileges). The continental breakfast starts at 7:30-10:30 am, with fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes and raspberries), fresh brewed coffee, pastries and fresh bagels. I couldn't believe how awesome their selection was. Overall, I want this place to remain a hidden secret because I don't want the price to increase but I also want them to strive because they are that awesome! Thank you, Urban Boutique for an awesome and memorable experience!!!!!

I so wanted to love this hotel but I just can't.

I will start by saying the staff was SUPER nice. Which is always good.  We had 2 rooms and stayed 1 night with 2 couples.  My 2 stars comes from physical aspects of the room.  The biggest being the bed. Not sleep-able, not flat, not even remotely comfortable. More shaped like a swimming pool or a large salad bowl.

If you want to be a hotel you need beds that people can actually sleep on.  And I even paid extra to get a bigger bed. Not again.

The good, just so you know: A nice little breakfast (Fruit and pastries), can walk to a lot of bars, and the staff were super nice.

    Get new beds!

Rude front desk workers, old snacks in their snack case, thin walls, construction right outside my room and people constantly walking by. Breakfast was crap, no carpet, shower was way too close to the toilet, bed was rock hard, intersection was a dangerous area, no parking.... I could go on but I don't want to relive it. Worst money ever spent. We left a day early and checked into a La Quinta. To pay the money we did only to let down nonstop....the worst hotel I have ever been to.

My husband and I stayed here this weekend, we really enjoyed our time there!
Despite all the complaints about the room size, we thought the Deluxe Room was a perfect size. No complaint about the bed either.
Like other comments, parking could be a hassle, but luckily we had no problems as we were able to get a spot in the lot right across the street every time. We paid $22 for 24 hrs but there's no guarantee your spot will still be there if you leave. No matter what city you go to, you're going to have to pay for parking
Anyway, very clean hotel, great service, awesome price for this area, and perfect location.
    We would definitely stay again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night and we really enjoyed our stay. We spent the day in San Diego for our anniversary and we were just too tired to drive the hour and half back home. We found this hotel on Hotels Tonight for $78. At that price we weren't expecting such great service and stay. The room was on the smaller side but it was clean, cozy and the bed was quite comfortable, the staff was friendly and informative. The manager even went out of his way to thank us for out stay and made sure we were happy with our stay. The hotel offers a complementary breakfast but we choose to sleep in instead and we missed it.

The hotel is nestled in Little Italy and there are several restaurants and bars just a few steps away. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

The place was clean and the guys downstairs checking US in were really cool. They gave us suggestions on things to do and where to go since we were in the middle of it all. They also greeted us and said goodbye everytime we came in or out, which was about four or five times. The free breakfast was a plus and I'm glad my last night was spent there. Only bad part is parking.

Stayed here Nov 19-21. Had a wonderful stay for my birthday that my girlfriend planned.  We got the best room there which was room 406. We had a beautiful view of the harbor! They even provided us a bottle of wine to celebrate. The staff was really friendly! It was near little Italy which was a nice part of town. Parking was pretty difficult to find because we didn't want to pay for it! But we did find places thank goodness! We walked to downtown a few times which was about a mile. Very satisfied with our stay! Thank you so much Urban Boutique for making our trip special!

Great location, cool staff, and that's about it. The toiletries were used (half full in this case isn't a good thing) and the room felt like a motel with nicer bedding. Oh, and the church bells will ring on the hour, every hour on Sunday. Please do wear the earplugs they provide you.

The positives:  clean room, has mini fridge/freezer in room, nice spread for breakfast - pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt granola, juices and coffee, the staff is very nice and helpful, right next to little Italy so there's good food close

The negatives: no parking - you have to fight for a spot on the street and pay the meter or pay $15 to park in  a lot around the corner, the bed is a full size, which is petty small for 2 people, we had the room by the housekeeping and they were LOUD in Sunday morning while we were trying to sleep in which was OBNOXIOUS,  the church bells on Sunday morning were crazy loud (which can't be helped, but just FYI).

Overall, it's OK for the price.  It wouldn't be my first choice but I would stay here again.

And he recommended the best Italian food for dinner. Talk about customer satisfaction! Rooms are tiny. But good for 1 night. Bed was not comfortable at all... And for two people (tall people!) it was very tight. But, for the price and location, I would come back.

My room was clean and had everything I needed. The breakfast was more extensive than I thought and was quite delicious. I was instructed to park across the street on a night when there was street cleaning and when I got a ticket the manager paid for it. I am very pleased with my experience at this hotel.

Cute hotel in little Italy. The room was small but very clean and cute. We booked through hotels tonight and did not have any issues with checking in or out. There were only two things that sucked though. One was the parking. They said it was additional $16 for parking but didn't specify that you have to go find your own pay lot parking which is near impossible downtown. They recommend one that is supposedly cheaper but it turned out to be the same price and in an awful ghetto location. The 2nd thing that sucked was the noise. We had a hotel room right next to the housekeeper room and apparently  they don't care about the fact that people like to sleep in the room right next to them. They were banging so loud on the wall where our bed was that we couldn't sleep past 6am. It was awful.
Overall, I liked the place even though it wasn't the best experience. Definitely don't think it was worth the price we paid on hotels tonight but I would stay there again for a lot lesser price.

I stayed here this last weekend and really enjoyed it!
    I stayed in room 202.
Not the biggest room in the world but it was cute! and had all your basics.
Microwave, fridge, ironing board, free Wi-Fi!
It was very modern looking and clean!!!!
The price was a good deal for the location.
Lots of restaurants and walking distance to everything in Little Italy and Downtown.
Parking was hard to find but there was a parking lot that the person at the front desk told me about. It was about 3 blocks away. Premium Parking maybe? 15 dollars for 24 hours with in and out privileges. I parked there for 2 days.
I will definitely stay here again. Thank you!

    I absolutely adore this hotel.
It's quaint, clean, beautifully decorated, ideally located and the customer service is top knotch.

My partner and I were given the best room in the joint: ROOM 406 top floor, corner room. About $79/night.

We had a spectacular view of the harbor out of one window and little Italy out of the other. Every night we were able to watch the fireworks show at Sea World. The only "noise" we would hear came from the restaurant below us. Just normal over dinner chit-chat taking place amongst the patrons. I actually enjoyed it some nights.

The size of the room was perfect. As was the lighting. I'm huge on lighting. Especially In hotels. It didnt provide you with that dank hospital-type lighting. Just soft yellow rather elegant illumination.

The complimentary breakfast was cute :-) plenty of muffins, juice and fruit for all. I took advantage of the free granola. They had a blueberry and apple cinnamon combo available. It became my staple.

Morning jogs to the harbor and night walks thru little Italy were magical. Your steps away from the trolley station and a nice 20 min walk from the coliseum. 10 mins away from Gaslamp.

The staff was pleasant and down to earth. I wish I remembered her an,e but there was a curly haired girl that worked the front desk. Loved her!

Definitely my go to stay next time I visit good ole San Diego'

If you have standards, this is not the place for you. I have stayed in over 25 cities and this place is ridiculous. The rooms here are smaller than any boutique I've ever stayed in including New York which if you've ever been you know are small. The sink is located next to the bed, the night stand touches the bed almost as if it were wedged in. The first thing I noticed when I got here was the mold in the ac unit in the window, I called down to the front desk because the window wouldn't open and it smelled , felt like someone may have just showered turns out they don't open. The moisture in the air on the second floor is enough to make you feel like you are suffocating I honestly got nauseous. The carpet , the sheets on bed even the towels were damp because they just couldn't dry. The bed was a full size , not big enough for 2 adults unless you feel like sleeping half on the floor. Over all I felt like I was in the twilight zone and the walls may actually be getting smaller every moment I was in there. When I tried to cancel for the second night after first walking into the room them told me that there was a 50 dollar cancelation fee if you don't cancel within 24hrs of check in? Every hotel I've ever stayed at its 24 hours before the day you are trying to cancel. This place is a joke, pay an extra 20 a night and stay somewhere else. If you're one of those people that ignores the one or so bad review and goes with the average , don't be fooled this time this is not one of those times where it ends up working out. It's instead one of the times you kick yourself for taking a risk. RUN!

We blindly booked this hotel on the HotelTonight mobile app and could not have had a better experience! Located in Little Italy, the hotel lives up to its "boutique" name with amazing charm. The front desk employees were incredibly welcoming and personable - thank you, ladies, for the hospitality.

Be sure to reserve a king size room if traveling in pairs. The smaller rooms are tiny, however, completely doable if traveling alone. I would recommend this hotel over any big box names any day.

This is a very nice hotel with a simple euro feel. Quaint and quite charming. Close to city dining and activity. The staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Nice place.

Five stars for Hotel Tonight's dirt cheap rate of $79/night. Five stars for the location (Little Italy/Downtown). Five stars for the free wifi. Five stars for the complimentary bfast bites (though not really a five star selection, but nice nonetheless). Five stars for the friendly ladies at the front. Five stars for the large and in charge comfy bed.

Not so five stars for room 111, which is right next to the "lobby" and right across from the "common room" where beverages/bfast bites are served. There's just no escaping the noise, sadly, so it's harder to take full advantage of the before mentioned large, comfy bed. There's also no carpet, which makes the room a bit cold in mood, and slightly in temp. The TV wasn't working in the room, but not a huge issue since I was there to explore SD.

The bathroom is tiny, and the sink area is exposed in the room (not in the bathroom), so another distraction from sleep if you're with a buddy/S.O. who decides to get up earlier than you.

    No parking.

Ultimately, this is a kick ass, cheap place to park your stuff, rinse off, get a quick nap/slumber in, but definitely not a place for any R&R.

Lovely little hotel to stay in while we were in San Diego in Little Italy.  The location was somewhat dangerous given the proximity to Little Italy and my love for Italian food.  I mean seriously we spent so much time exploring restaurants and enjoying amazing delicious Italian food!!!

Anyway, this hotel was quite lovely to stay in - clean, organized, and cozy.  There are a few things that made it so that I couldn't give it 5 stars - parking was quite abysmal.  You need to either pay $20/night in their tiny 6 car lot or search for parking on the street, while keeping in mind that there are days where there is street cleaning.  Another one would be the lack of extra towels and a hair dryer in the room.  Granted all we had to do was to call the main desk to get what we needed.

Some nice perks - they folded my boyfriend's dirty laundry that he left scattered on the floor.  Was quiet and comfortable, and most importantly everything was clean.  The room was somewhat small, but really no complaints as we spent a great deal of time exploring or just taking naps in the room.

Definitely a great place to stay, just remember to investigate parking options or...public transportation!

Great location, staff and ambience.  Would highly recommend. From the moment we got there for a girls reunion weekend we were greeted by the most friendly staff!  The rooms were clean and spacious. We made the breakfast area a hang out and had so much fun!!

The main thing I look for in a hotel room is that it's CLEAN and safe. Everything else is a bonus. I was really pleased with my stay here. The hotel is very well priced, quaint, and charming. Everything is updated and looks modern. They have a nice area to get and eat the complimentary breakfast and they also have a room with a bathroom and computer with printer. The location is fantastic, within walking distance of many places to eat and drink, mere steps to Little Italy, and a short trek to downtown. If you are not used to walking in metropolitan cities (with lots of homeless people) then I recommend you take a taxi. Parking is not too expensive and there are many pay lots in the area.

There are a few nit-picky things I noticed that I will mention but it will NOT prevent me from staying here again (which I plan to.)

    ROOM 311

    - The room is very simple and modern. There is not much space for furniture or fancy decor, which is A-OK with me, but I expected the bed to be more lush and luxurious, seeing as that's where they could have splurged a bit.

    - The bathroom door closed but there was a pretty large gap that you can see right through. The latch did not make contact and you can just push the door right open with little effort.

    - The shower drained slowly and pooled.

    - I didn't mind the sink being in the actual room, but I didn't like that there was carpet underneath and around it instead of tile.

Overall, the service was great and everyone I encountered was very friendly. The rate is very reasonable for the location. The lobby is nice and the entire hotel is very clean. I'm very satisfied and I highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel was very clean and nice. The staff was extremely friendly. The stay was reasonably priced. The proximity to the hotel to good food and things to do is great. My fiance and I walked pretty much everywhere, and most of where we walked was in close proximity to the hotel. The Marina is within walking distance, and so are the plentiful restaurants in Little Italy that all have amazing food.  The bed was very comfortable. Parking in the hotel lot was $20/night, but there's also street parking available as well. We liked that they had complimentary breakfast, but the area for eating it is very small. You have to compete for a table with all of the other hotel guests, or you can take your breakfast up to your room. My fiance and I really enjoyed our stay here, and we will definitely stay here again if we come back to San Diego.

Also, contrary to the other reviews, our wifi worked perfectly the whole time.

Anthony is the best! The minute we arrived we could not find parking! So, he gave me his spot and moved his car elsewhere.
    Everyone has been so great!
Also, on sat they close the street down where the hotel parking is and ANTHONY moved my car to a better spot (I had been drinking) and found me a spot to park my car the remainder of the time! I suggest this hotel for everyone!!!! Anthony is the best! Great place-great people. Great place, great people!

    Ps. Free breakfast

Everything about this hotel was pleasing to me. Check in was quick and easy. I already felt at home upon checking in. In the common area you will find complimentary fruit infused water, juice, and coffee. There is also a continental breakfast.

Parking is a nightmare. It was my only gripe about staying here. But I don't hold it against the hotel.

The neighborhood is little Italy and its a bustling community. Mostly tourists, but its something to note. Food options abound within a three minute walk from the hotel. Nice, posh venues and small pizza joints.

Its easy to get around with public transportation in the area. Why give up your expensive parking spot. Haha.

Room was very clean and hip. I felt very comfortable and relaxed in the room. I'm very picky about my hotels and I would definitely come back!

80 bucks a night in Little Italy!?!?! It's true. Got it on Hotel Tonight not once, but twice. Even without the awesome app Urban Boutique is one of the most affordable rooms around the area.

Although the inside isn't anything to write home about you can't beat this place for the price. They also have free wifi, continental breakfast, allow pets, and have a super friendly staff.

Overall it's no frills, but a comfy bed to lay your head and keep some money in your pocket to spend on San Diego food and beverage.

Two nights, too long! The rooms are tiiiiiiiiny, smaller than Manhattan tiny. The bed was similarly tiny, definitely not big enough for two full-grown adults (full-size, not even a queen). Also in the tiny room, a tiny sink right next to the bed. I mean inches.
A few other issues: the room was damp the entire time. This is San Diego and although we ran the AC the entire time, since you can't open the window it was very humid. Not very inviting to walk on wet carpet and sleep in wet sheets! When we checked in at 8pm we went upstairs to look over the room and found a wet shower floor with bits of soap bar in it. And hair in the bed.
Paintings of half-naked women on the walls, a room key that's been used about 167 times, loud housekeepers and $158. No.

I was super excited to stay in this little boutique in the heart of downtown SD. I planned a two day getaway a couple weeks ago and the affordable price and positive reviews online captured my attention right away. It saddens me to say my experience here was not positive at all.

First of all, their parking lot is dingy as hell. There's only a few spots around the corner of the boutique. I can't imagine how they would handle a busy weekend with such a tiny lot. There were also boxes of trash in the parking lot blocking the spaces.

Secondly, the room is tiny. Probably the smallest hotel room I've stayed in. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it is a "boutique" and I thought maybe they tried fitting as many rooms as possible in their hotel. The sink for the bathroom was connected to the room, rather than in a separate bathroom. There was barely any room to walk around since everything was pushed in together. The only things I liked about the room were the rather comfortable beds and the nice flat screen attached to the wall. Made watching basketball that night very pleasant. Besides that, the room itself was a disappointment.

Now, onto what really bothered me. I seriously don't want to put the blame on the hotel but it was just such an inconvenience. I noticed the hotel provided ear plugs for each guest in the room. I was rather puzzled by why were provided ear plugs... Fast forward to the next morning... There's construction going on from like six in the morning and it was so damn loud I couldn't sleep. I got into my hotel around 2:30 am and fell asleep at four thinking I can sleep in til check out time. Nope. I was so wrong. You know what though? It's not your fault, Urban Boutique.

Another thing is.. there isn't enough front desk staff. When I was trying to check out the next day, there was a huge line and only one person manning the front desk. It took like twenty minutes to check out. They also don't provide hair dryers in the rooms. My long ass hair was a mess all day.

Everything else is trivial compared to what I'm about to explain now. A few days later, I checked my bank statement randomly and saw that the hotel charged me twice, one charge for $28 and another for $120. The first charge was for parking and the water we purchased so that's fine. But the second charged baffled me so I called the hotel to check what it was for. Some rude ass guy told me it was because there were blood stains on the hotel and because there were smells of marijuana in the room. WHAT THE HELL???? You think I'm stupid enough to smoke bud in a hotel room? How dare someone accuse me of something like that when I didn't even bring in weed into the room? The blood stains were tiny. Like the size of my pinky finger. My boyfriend scraped his knees the night before and there was a tiny stain and they charged me $120 for it.. I don't know but that seems way too excessive. I tried calling again and talking to a receptionist but they rudely told me there's nothing they can do about it since their linens are very expensive and high in quality.

    Never returning here again.

Short and sweet: I would definitely recommend to friends looking for a less-expensive hotel option in San Diego, but something with a bit more charm than the typical boring national chain.

While the rooms are a bit small, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, which more than makes up for it. Plus the first floor is pet-friendly, which is a big plus as well.

If I find myself down in San Diego anytime soon, I'll definitely consider staying at the Urban Boutique Hotel again.
