So, a fancy downtown hotel is always nice, but if you want to experience San Francisco like a local, in a funky neighborhood, this is the place to do it!

This is a beautiful Victorian 3-flat.  The apartments are well-appointed, comfortable, and nicely decorated.  The property sits at the doorstep of the Castro, the heart of SF's gayest neighborhood.  There are tons of bars, boutiques, diners, and nicer restaurants within a couple blocks as well as the Market Street streetcar and Muni station.

We took the studio on our recent trip here, and the only reason I don't give them a full 5 stars is because the people who rented the floor above us did so for a graduation party.  I get pretty bitchy if my sleep gets interrupted, and these folks made more noise than a bunch of drunken 20-something spring breakers and they kept us awake until 2am.  This was our first travel day and we were still on Eastern time so it was like 5am to us.   Other than that hiccup, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.  Next time I'll ask about who's renting upstairs!

If you like to walk, street climbing is primo around here.  Duboce Street  is only a couple blocks away and it's so steep that they have stairs in addition to a sidewalk.  Buena Vista Park is at the top of Duboce and provides more climbing and sweeping  views of the Golden Gate Bridge all the way to Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge to Oakland.  Haight Ashbury is just on the other side of the park.

I better stop now, before this rambling gets out of hand.  Ive been to SF several times over the past 3 decades.  I absolutely love that city, have left my heart there, and will wear flowers in my hair on a warm San Francisco night on my return.
