Where do I begin? First of all, based on my experience at this hotel, I can only assume all the over-the-top, glowing reviews of this dump (on other websites) must be written by the hotel staff. I've stayed in some lousy hotels in my day. I've stayed in hotels in third-tier cities in communist mainland China, where no-one could speak english and customer-service is an alien concept, but this hotel is the absolute worst. If I had the option I would give it negative stars. My Chinese wife worked at JW Marriott In Shanghai, and received an employee discount for staying at this hotel, when we flew back from China. After a long flight, no one greeted us at the door or bothered to help us schlep our large amount of luggage. I wasn't expecting the red carpet treatment, but a little help would've been nice. When we were checking in,  I specificly told the guy he could take down my CC # but I preferred to pay in cash. More on that later...So we check into our room, after (once again) schleping our luggage up there. Oh and  what a room it was! Situated over a courtyard blaring bad pop music 12 hours a day, starting at 9 am. We would later find out it also leaked, after it rained on my mobile and new macbook pro. Then we had to change rooms, but I'm getting ahead of myself here. Anyway, we booked 2 weeks in this hellhole to give us a little time to find a new apt in San Francisco. Big mistake. Later I checked my CC balance to find it had been charged several hundred dollars. Despite the fact I'd insisted on paying in cash, and would have done so upon checking in. I phoned the desk to complain and spoke to the same guy who checked us in. He said: "Didn't your wife explain to you how hotels work?" insulting me and blaming my wife in the process. I told him my CC balance is low, and I preferred to pay cash, and that I would need my CC for on-line x-mas shopping. He made some sarcastic remark: "I'm sorry it's the holidays and you have to go shopping". No apology, nothing. Just rudeness & sarcasm. (Even if I was in the wrong about the whole CC check-in thing, he couldn't have handled it worse.) His attitude really pissed me off. I said: "look man, it's your mistake" and hung up. I considered the matter (unsatisfactorily) settled and would have left it at that. This guy calls back and asks to speak to my wife. I put her on the phone and he demands that she give him the phone number of her boss in Shanghai! He wants to get her sacked because he thinks I was rude to him! Outrageous! Unbelievable! Of course my wife refuses. This guy is a big guy and now my wife is a little afraid of him. Now I am seething mad. I go down to the desk and say "hey!" to him. He's in a back office and I'm trying to get his attention. He comes out and says: "this is a hotel sir!" like I'm some hayseed that just blew in town. In retrospect I should have said: "you could've fooled me" but I was too flustered at the time. The GM steps in, rightfully fearing the situation might escalate to fisticuffs. To her credit, she doesn't try to save face for this punk, agrees that his behavior is out-of-order and tries to book us into another hotel, without success. In the end, we receive nothing. Not only that, they charged my card again, despite agreeing not to. Later a housekeeper would lose my wife's teddybear when she changed the bedding. My wife was in tears. I know that sounds childish but she has a soft heart.  Adding insult to injury:  the housekeeper forged our customer service review form, saying what a great job she did! I went down to the front desk to complain to the GM, but she refused to see me, and left me stewing in the lobby. Luckily, the bear was found and returned in one piece. Then of course there was the leaky, noisy room. I think you get the picture: AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I thought this place was really ugly. I know it's an old building and all, but I expected more. As far as the room goes, I felt like I was staying at Motel 6.

Other than that, I love how it was so close to everything. I was able to walk to restaurants and to the wharf. I also like how they have a concierge (even though he wasn't able to help me b/c he walked away).

All in all, it was ok. I think I'll stay somewhere else next time.

A friend was relocating from overseas previously and since he was accumulating Marriott points, he opted for Courtyard brand at Fisherman's Wharf. Checked out his room and it was regular Courtyard quality, flower power bed sheets, simple amenities or the lack of, no view and parking fees are extra. The walking distance to Ghirardelli and all Fisherman's Wharf touristy spots were the only pluses.

5 stars for the Rate and comfort! I thought this was a great value for the room, location and rate I paid on my AAA card... $132/King room per night... month of July 2009.

I traveled with my two girlfriends and our three moms... we booked two king rooms, each having a nice sofa bed pull out, so we bunked 3 to a room... w/out any fight for space or room amenities. :)

Being on a budget, this was a great way to split the tab. We also were able to walk to the corner Walgreens and purchase simple items and snacks which I believe would come in real handy for those of you traveling with the children.

What's immediately around the hotel... wow! what isn't. Walgreens as I mentioned, In/Out Burger, Hooters, Liquor store, the Dirty Martini (great atmosphere), cable Cars, ALL of fishermans wharf, Dennys, gift shops galore, endless restaurants and car rental. All of these are less than a 3 minute walk from the covered entry of Marriott.

The front desk assistance day and night was very friendly. Our stay was a Thur-Sunday. The front lobby had coffee/tea each morning and a computer that we could get our boarding passes for the day before travel. Their recommendations were also thoughtful and spot on.

Also see my review on Green Dream Tours... amazing SF guide. It's SOOOO worth the 38 bucks and he picked us up/dropped us off right from the Marriott.

Dint pay the price for Holiday Inn, Sheraton or Radisson if the rate at Marriott is less... its definitely a contender for hotels in Fishermans Wharf. I can say w/confidence it's the only choice now when we return this fall.

One last thing to note... the bathrooms are nicely done w/marble and granite... but the marble flooring is cold even when your room is warm and toasty. So have socks/room slippers for your little toes. :) I'll try to post a photo of the room from my cell phone.

i booked this place because i thought it would be nicer than the other ones in the city, since it is the closest to the Warf. It really is nothing special. Save the $100 a night and stay at the financial district one and cab it.

Horrible, absolutely horrible.  Quality of hotel was okay, but the location is what makes this a hotel HORRIBLE. Bar located adjacent to the hotel on Beach st. is rowdy and noisy to 2am (probably a great bar, judging by the noise, maybe I should rate that?).

I called the front desk earlier and asked the management what they would do about the noise... "Sorry sir, the bar will be closing at 2am so maybe they will go away."   So, management was completely useless.  Consider yourself warned.

My friends are out at beer fest and I'm stuck at the hotel with nothing to do! I'm dying to just watch the Shark's game, and being in the city, all the bars and etc are playing the Giant's game! I was channel surfing in my room and couldn't find it, so I call down stairs to see if they have it. They said they would try to find it on the tv in the lobby for me. I really thought it'd be lost hope so I started wandering around outside at restaurants and bars, but no luck. I came back in and asked the front desk and he said he had tried to find it for me, but no luck. I felt really bad for making him look for the game for me considering I had no idea what channel it was on. Finally after I was so close on losing hope, I found it! YAY! I parked myself in the lobby with a nice sandwich and watched the game. The guy at the front desk continued to check up on me (and the Sharks!) and told me to make myself at home. I thought that was such great service because I've been to my share of hotels and have not received such great care! I often heard a "Welcome back!" as they greeted guests, which really means something! Towards the end of the game he came up to me and got me a drink since I hadn't left that seat for nearly 3 hours! Now i'm back in my room and very happy. It smells a little funny but I think all hotels smell like this. We got a room on the very top (4th) floor and its pretty nice. The view is pretty decent and the beds are comfy. What I look for most in hotels are the bathrooms and I love that this one is sooooo spacious! Everything is very well furnished in the room and no tacky artwork or sheets! SCORE! I love that it is located so close to the wharf that there's always something to do, watch or eat! It's a bit strange that there are so many pizza places around here though. The lobby is really nice and the people that I've run into staying here are also very polite. And the only kicker is the parking! I think if you park at their garage next door, I'm told that is 34.99 + tax? Luckily I parked across the street for $25 (12hrs)/ $28 (24hrs). The only bad thing about that garage is that it closes at midnight! Anyway, I will be coming back here for my stays in the city!

Rooms are perfectly fine, the location is very handy and the staff is helpful and friendly.  We left our car at a remote Bart station in the long term lot, rode the Bart in and avoided paying a high price for parking (the car was safe and untouched in the Bart lot).  We got a great deal on Priceline; the rack rates were very high.

came here for our anniversary stay. I liked it because it was right by the wharf and very close to restaurants and walking distance to every where. I booked a king room a long time ago, and check in time was at 3pm. We arrived an hour later and the guy at the front desk told us that a king room isnt ready yet. So he gave us 2 queen side bed room. It was on the 3rd floor in the corner. There was a lot of windows and you had a view of the bars, and a small park. I liked it actually, we also had a fridge and a desk and a couch area. The only bad thing was the bar across the street at 2am in the morning, we heard all the drunk people outside but it wasnt that bad. I would def stay here again because it was so close to everything we needed to be by. The valet people were nice too. They also had a small pantry of food, beers wine and ice cream and other things you might have forgotten in your toiletry bag, but dont get me wrong the shop is freaking expensive,

I stayed here on Employee rate, so I was already on good terms with this property.
It's a place to rest your head after being out on the Wharf.
They were under remodeling when we stayed there. It was mentioned on the website, but not a word was mentioned at check in. The noise was a bit much, starting at 7am, with hammering and sawing.

It's a great location. If you get a good rate, stay here.

I stayed here for one night. Their front desk agents was very friendly. This hotel is convenient to restaurants and sightseeing. The room was very cozy with king sized bed and roomy. The room seems to be kept in a good condition. One of the wall was painted with flowers. There is a red couch which was comfy. At night time you can hear the bar music since there a bar down the street. Otherwise it a decent hotel to stay at.

This place was great.  Within walking distances to the Wharf, trolley and cable car stations, shopping, etc.  The rooms were clean and roomy.

What we loved the best was the staff.  They were so helpful and friendly.  If the concierge was away from his stand, the front desk staff gladly helped and vice versa.

The only downside was the noise from the street level; but it stopped by 10:30 p.m. each night we were there.

Would definitely stay here again!

The best thing about this hotel is its location.  In one direction at the end of the block is a cable car turnaround and further along Ghirardelli Square; a few blocks in the other direction is Pier 39.

The hotel itself is great. I had breakfast in the restaurant and it was pretty good. But one thing did  bother me. My room faced Beach Street and I heard heavy trucks go by during the night.

Overall, I was satisfied with his hotel.

Full disclosure - I came here after the hotel was newly renovated and I had my sister's family employee rate.

The new renovations make this hotel a top notch place to stay!  I'm very OCD, so I like it when places are new and clean.  The new design is very warm and friendly.  The staff is helpful.

This hotel is located in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf and very close to Pier 39 and all the major tourist attractions.  Very very convenient.  If you can get a good rate - I highly recommend this hotel.  The other hotels in the area are probably pretty old and with similar expensive rates.

I stayed on the second floor with connecting rooms because I was here with family.  The second floor also has a small gym, which has a bike, two treadmills and weights.  Decent for a small hotel.  The whole bldg is three floors.

There's no view from the window, but that's okay.  The rooms are spacious and very comfortable (two queen beds!).

Two thumbs up!

My new favorite hotel at the wharf. Great location with an easy walk to fisherman's wharf, Boudins, cable cars, Buena Vista Irish coffee, and Pier 39. 10 min walk to Alcatraz boat launch. Rooms are large, clean, nicely decorated, and have queen beds. Free wifi and printers in lobby. Walgreens & In N Out next door.

Stayed here almost two years ago and let me say, the experience was good. The area is clean, the hotel is clean, small fitness center, some street traffic but nothing major, newly renovated and for me this was perfect. and pParking is additional, unless you want to drive around for street parking. Took a trip to SF to propose and let's just say, everything worked out :) So we will be going back to celebrate one of many more anniversaries.

Good thing I had free night vouchers or I wouldn't be able to afford to stay here. Parking is not included and they charge $36  a night just to park your car. Other than that our stay was pretty good. They had a nice hotel and friendly staff. It was in a great location that we could walk to the cable cars, fisherman's wharf, and get anywhere we wanted to go. The street the hotel was on didn't have crazy traffic either. I would definitely stay again. The only drawback was the parking situation.

Stayed here for one night and thought it was pretty good. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not five was the WiFi the only way to get it was in the hotel lobby! The parking was a little high but we were able to use the valet until 8:00 p.m on the day of departure. This was very useful as we wanted to visit the waterfront before we headed out. The Hotel was very close to Fishermans wharf and a very easy walk the the cable car lines. I would stay here again and would recomend it.  it was very clean and tiddy and we both felt very safe comming and going after dark.

This is our go to place when coming to SF.   Recently remodeled, the rooms are very nice, clean.  Staff is friendly.   What we like about this is that they take Dogs.   Arrive Monday - Friday and breakfast buffet is  included in the room price.   3 Block walk from the wharf and about the same from the Buena Vista.   A must is a massage place that is connected to the Hotel.  The royal thai massage is great.  We had a couples massage for the price of what I pay normally for a deep tissue for 1 in my home town.  and you can bill it to the room!.  Place is called Royal Thai Massage and it is a Professional place, not the seedy ones you hear about in SF.   Our dogs give it a 5 Paw Rating too!

Clean rooms and friendly service, especially housekeeping, they all greet you every time you see them. Great location. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast at the "bistro." Not much of a selection and the staff is very flustered. When the cashier forgot to ring up one item, she came to our table and told us we owed for it. I believe it was her fault and we shouldn't have paid for it. If I wasn't with my conservative family, I would've asked for a manager and mentioned the terrible service. Otherwise, the hotel is great; just go to the many other great breakfast spots in the area.

This hotel was in the PERFECT location. Just a few steps from all of the action of Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf and the front desk employees were always nice and cheerful.  The room was pretty standard and clean.

The only drawback here was the fact that we had to park in a public garage for $35/night, but for the location,  that was expected.  At least they gave in and out privileges.

Overall I would recommend this hotel, it is pricy, but worth it for the location!

I stay in San Francisco for a number of reasons, and have been coming back to this hotel several times.  I have stayed in swankier, tonier hotels, but this hotel has the important things right.  First of all, its a great location if you like to be near the Wharf area, for any of the attractions such as boating, bay swimming, or some of the more obvious tourist attractions.  The staff is friendly, and helpful with anything you need done.  The overnight parking rate is about $14.00 cheaper than most other hotels.  The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are very clean.  Important to me, however, is that this hotel chain is cognizant that the products it uses to maintain the hotel have impacts not just on the environment but on its guests health.  The hotel does not use any of the chemical fragrance gimmicks now popular in some other hotels, such as the Westin and Sheraton, where the marketing shills have apparently convinced their management that dispersing chemicals  will make their guests feel good.  Here the air is clear of such headache producing irritants.  I also noticed that the  products used for cleaning at this hotel do not create an unpleasant chemical smell even when they are being used.

Also, another reviewer described a small room at the end of a corridor with a small shower.  I stayed in room like that on the fourth floor, and yes, there is noise during the day. However, its a huge tourist attraction area, you are in the heart of it, so don't plan on taking naps at in the early afternoon. However,  I stayed in one of these rooms during a busy three-day weekend, and found that the music noise stopped at 10 p.m.  What is nice about the top floor room at this location, is you actually have a good view out the window of Alcatraz Island.

I did not give five stars because the room heaters are somewhat noisy, and in some instances placed right next to the bed.  They do not regulate well, meaning you will probably have to turn it off manually to avoid having your room overheated. Finally, the color scheme at Marriott, the yellow and red, is their apparent signature.  They really should rethink that, it evokes a circus atmosphere and not relaxation.  But in this property, it is more subdued than a regular Marriott, so its not really a huge distraction

Location, location, location...that's what you get if you want to be close to Pier39.  There is so much going on in this area that it's hard to not want to be a part of it.  Fisherman's Wharf is on the opposite side of town from where we work, but it was worth venturing out there.  We have been fairly lucky getting such great hotels for decent prices.  This hotel has everything you could want without taking everything you have in your wallet.

We ended up getting a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa next to the window.  Of course there was a huge TV in the room as well.  The bathrooms were delightfully updated and looked very modern and clean.  I loved that we were given a room with two beds because I got the whole bed to myself.  It was nice and cushy with feather down pillows and soft sheets.  *sigh*  Comfy to the max =)

When you walk outside there's so many things to do.  You can eat, walk down to the pier and go through the touristy shops, enjoy live music playing from many of the restaurants, or just grab a cup of coffee and people watch.

Speaking of coffee, love a place that provides it complimentary in the morning with all the fixings.  I would imagine this place is great for everyone, but especially tourists.  They have a computer that you can use downstairs, newspaper, and a weather board to check in case you're debating to wear that sweater or leave it in the room.

Parking may be a bit difficult if you drive.  I would suggest taking a cab or showing up around when the meters shut off.  You'll find people leaving their spots at that time and then you can swoop into one and not have to pay for the rest of the night.

This hotel is on our list of hotels to return to.  It is worth every penny.

The room itself was nice and clean, I can say that as a positive.  However, they have a very strong tropical flower perfume dousing the lobby and at all the elevators.  I have bad allergies and blame the perfume for the five day headache I developed while staying there.  It made me wonder if they were trying to hide a worse smell.  Also the free "high speed" internet was very poor.  It would stall while watching short YouTube videos, and kept dropping me entirely so that I would have to log in again.  I was supposed to stay there a second time on a business trip, but had our company travel agency cancel the reservation and put it on my "do not stay here" list.  It's the only hotel I have listed.

Why give this place 5 stars?

-Location: located in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf and close to the transit lines (cable car and electric car); and for Starbucks lovers or Wi-fi desperadoes, there's a Starbucks right around the corner
-Price: reasonable, can find good deals online
-Staff: always friendly to us
-Rooms: surprisingly spacious, we had two queen sized beds, love seat, coffee table to accompany love seat, office desk and chair, refrigerator, flat screen tv, and fairly large bathroom
-Amenities: they have computers and a printer downstairs for you to do flight check-ins and you can print out your boarding pass
-Valet: parking is available, valet is very quick and convenient

Sure, this isn't the Four Seasons or anything, but for the price and all the other factors, I would come here again if I wanted to be close to the Fisherman's Wharf (touristy thing to do). Don't let it's seemingly small location fool you.

I have been a fan of Marriot for some time. Eventually I became a member in order to take advantage of rewards. I have stayed at Marriot hotels for business and pleasure and have always had great experiences. I appreciate the military discount since I am Active Duty Air Force. I really love to travel and enjoy the hotel experience. I actually have 'stay-cations' here in Dallas where I live just for the experience. I often stay at Omni or Kimoton hotels. When searching for a hotel for the third leg of my birthday vacation I looked at many Kimpton hotels in the area and reviewed Yelp reviews. I ended up going with Marriot in Fisherman's Warf because I thought I knew what I would be getting. The last time I stayed at a Marriot was in Bossier City, Louisiana on the Boardwalk. Great experience! Up to date lobby and rooms... Spacious... Clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were even up to date! But after staying at the Peppermill Resort in Reno on the second leg of my vacation, this Marriot was such a disappointment. I actually booked this room for myself and two of my friends... And I was embarrassed because it was a huge step down from the room my friend had booked for us earlier on in the trip. When we arrived we sat in the front of the hotel for several minutes watching three males basically shoot the breeze. One was unpacking a car and the othe two were just laughing and talking with him. A line built up while we watched and waited for someone to acknowledge us. This set the tone after a long ride in traffic from Sacramento. The young lady at the counter was nice enough but after entering the room we were deflated. The smell and the stuffiness of the room was a huge turn off. It was stale and uncomfortable. There was no visual appeal at all. plain white blankets and sheets. pillows were on the bed but had no standard placement. they didn't even appear to be the same size. It was like a couple of beds at a friend's house that only cares about the basics. the toilet had poor placement... too close to the long sink. toilet, sink and tub were out of date. Nothing at all speacial about this room. The only memorable thing was the feel and smell. We turned the air up and left to get dinner. Upon returning there was little change and we just settled on the fact we would get some sleep and be able to check out in the morning. The feeling I look for in a hotel is a place that you don't want to leave. I didn't get that here. It is in a good location but there are other hotels in the same area for the same price that have the comfort and style I am accustomed to.

This hotel is in a great location. I could walk leisurely to Pier 39 in about 10 minutes. The park and Ghiradelli Square are about a 5 minute walk.

I got the King Suite and it was definitely worth it. We were here for the Fourth of July and had a view of the Pier and Alcatraz. The room was clean and HUGE! Modern decor. Free internet. Very nice compared to the other hotels you would get in the area for a great price.

My room wasn't ready for 40 minutes after 3PM check-in but the staff were very accomodating and comped us with free breakfast since we had to wait.

Tip: Ask for the Fourth floor.

This was our first trip to San Francisco.  The Courtyard by Marriott was in an excellent location, the staff was super friendly and the rooms were clean and beautiful.
This hotel was just  a couple of minutes walk from nearly everything.....Pier 39, the cable car turn around, the F Line street car and many restaurants.
The next time we stay in San Francisco we would defiantly book here again.

This place is great! Location is awesome! Clean, quiet rooms. Helpful staff. I was very happy with this hotel. The only negative is the limited dining options within the hotel itself- but it is so close to everything, it wasnt that big of an issue. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. I did notice a slight musty odor, but I bought Febreeze at the Walgreens next door and it was fine from then on.

Just returned from a 3 night stay here with my family (husband and 2 boys ages 7 and 3).  I was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely return.  The price was great - $140 per night during New Year's week.  Fantastic location - just a block from Fisherman's Wharf and 2 blocks from Ghiradelli Square, and easily walkable to sites like Lombard Street and North Beach.  The F trolley stops 1 block from the hotel in front of the Walgreens.

The room was very spacious and unexpectedly had a little couch that my 3 year old was able to use as a bed.  The beds were comfortable and the heater in the room worked very well (good because it was really cold outside).  The room seemed very updated and there was a mini fridge that you could stock (no annoying overpriced mini bar stuff that you cannot move or you get charged).  Huge plus for free wifi that worked pretty well.

Staff were friendly and helpful.  There is a concierge who offered us information and greeted us when we returned each day.

Parking is $36 per night for valet, which for San Francisco is not that bad.

Overall a really positive experience, great location and great price.  We had no view, but didn't care about that.  This is not a 5 star hotel, but it is excellent for the price.

I was in San Francisco for my bachelorette party and a few of the girls were going to stay until Monday. Instead of coming all the way down to Cupertino, we opted to stay in the City and decided on the Courtyard Marriott Fisherman's Wharf since it was a) affordable, b) excellent location, c) clean and d) had free WiFi.

Cost:
Standard (2 Queens): Daily: $149; 1 Bedroom Suite with Sofa Bed: Daily: $179

Location:
Literally in the tourist heart of SF, one block from Fisherman's Wharf, two blocks from Ghiradelli Square, two blocks from the Cable Cars, one block from bike rentals to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and a close jaunt to Union Square.

Amenities:
1. Fitness center and a Bistro on the second floor that serves Starbucks and breakfast until 10am. The Bistro serves your usual breakfast fare of eggs, muffins, fruit, granola, etc. The fitness center has your usual treadmills and stair climbers and faces the courtyard.

2.The Market for 24-hour snacking at reasonable prices where you can find beer, wine, snack foods, candy, etc.

3. There's a business center with books and free business services with printers, faxes, computers, and an area to print out Boarding Passes. They also have free WiFi througout the hotel for guests to use. Rooms also have a wired option that you can plug into as well, in case your laptop isn't WiFi friendly.

For a full, list check out their website.

When we first got there, it was a bit early to check-in though my friend had arranged for early check-in online, the suite wasn't ready. However, the friendly staff took our bags and gave us bag claims. We ventured out into a beautiful, sunny SF day- the ones that are so rare that each time they happen, you just have to be outdoors, soaking it all up, truly enjoying the beauty of the City... for the rest of this review, check out my review page: lunch.com/djevoke

This Courtyard is very clean, nicely appointed and well located.  It definitely has a modern feel to it with simple sleek furnishings and hip decor.  It's low rise, kind of sparse, but the room was generous in size and the bathroom was spacious and accommodating.

It does have a great location, in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf, but with it comes the pitfalls of a touristy area: sub par restaurants.  We didn't want to wander far so our dinner was just ok.  Take a cab and experience the great food of San Fran.

Service was friendly and helpful.  In and Out Burger is right next door if you get the craving for a some fast food.  Frankly I was disappointed in my beef patty, but maybe the secret is to order the double like you have to at Five Guys.

Fantastic location for a hotel. It is located right by Fisherman's Wharf and very close to Ghirardelli Square. The hotel is extremely clean and has a nice lobby and exercise room. They have computers and printers available for use. The hotel does not include a free breakfast, but they do have free coffee in the morning in the lobby or coffee makers in the room. They have a bistro that serves breakfast, but believe me, it is WAY too expensive and the food is not worth it. They offer valet parking for $36/night with in and out privileges. This ends up being a pretty good deal for that area of town.

This hotel was so bad it sealed the deal on my decision to change my flight and come home a day early. Truly terrible and one of my worst hotel experiences ever.

- Tiny room allllllllll the way at the end of a long hallway.
- Unhelpful staff.
- My window didn't properly shut and my room overlooked a high traffic area of Fisherman's Wharf, complete with live music. It was loud. When I called to complain, I was told "this is a city, it's going to be loud." Um, hi, dumbass. I'm from Chicago and I know how loud cities are. What I was asking for was a room with a window that actually shut all the way and didn't have a live band performing 10 feet below said window. I was denied.
- The bed was super squeeky.
- The shower in the bathroom was maybe 3/x3 and the door leaked water. When I got out of the shower there was water all over the floor.

The good things that have nothing to do with the actual property:
- Location. Quick walk to Pier 39, Ghiradelli, and Lombard St.
- Two Walgreens nearby, plus there's a big grocery store a block or two away. If you're staying for a few days head there for cheaper food/drinks than their "market" in the lobby.

Skip it. I'm willing to bet you can do much better in the same area.

I have stayed at this hotel when traveling to the Wharf area twice in the last 6 months, i'm afraid this will be my last.
The location is tough to beat, for sure.  But this courtyard is as basic as it gets.  And as a Marriott rewards member, I love the brand and see a wide variety of their hotels.
I have found myself in the 'handicap' room on the 4th floor both times, avoid these rooms for the water drains to the middle of the bathroom and thus becomes a safety issue.
Not that you typically spend a ton of time in your room while in the area, but I found the room to be a bit worn down and just not the quality I expect from Marriott.
Hopefully Marriott decides to reinvest in the property soon to be more reflective of their brand/standards.

Apparently they did a full remodel of this place. They turned it into kind of a mini-W hotel in the lobby. Touch screen tourist TV. A mini store, nice rooms and pleasant staff.

CONS: 1 bathroom (not even in the lobby) but the 2nd floor by the Bistro. Yeah...double gender bathroom. Parking's actually in the public parking lot next door, and the rooms were a bit noisy if you're on the end with the Subway.

Other than that, this place is smacked right in the middle of Fisherman's Wharf and the tourist area. The outside looks a bit old, but don't let that fool you. The remodeled inside lobby, floors and rooms are nice!

Stayed here last night. Got a great room. Great customer service. I'm in the military and got a better room and price. Right in fisherman's ward distinct. Even after checking out their customer service was exceptional. I needed a shuttle to the airport hours after I checked out and they proved. Even let me use a computer to do some business on. I would definitely stay here again.

It didn't start off so great here so you would probably wonder why 4 stars.
When we booked our room on line from Sacramento and then drove the 2 hours to the hotel we were ready to enjoy our weekend getaway! We will definitely pay 300-400 for a great hotel in the city so we were expecting our room and good treatment. Turns out we got there at 8 pm to no room for us - even though it was reserved and paid for! And now I will cut straight to why we ended up deciding we would go back!
If it hadn't been for a manager by the name of Julia , who we got ahold of as the problem happened- this review would have been different. Julia understands good customer service, how important it is to be competitive with service and even ensured her staff understood the same !
Both nights the valet guys were awesome, the second day of dealing with the staff was great- a world of difference, and we even enjoyed a yummy breakfast at their bistro. Thank you Julia and the 2nd staff for making all the difference in our stay!

I stayed for one night & got 2 queens (although we just needed 1 bed) for $80 through priceline (sunday night labor day weekend ).  There's a pk garage next door w/ in & out privileges @ $32/night, but for $36 you can get valet w/ the hotel.  we knew after a day of sight seeing we'd be tired/cranky so this was worth the extra bucks for us.  We were next to subway/the parking garage - so that was our not so great view.  I didnt care at first...until i realized that we couldnt just leave our curtains open unless we wanted people getting in/out of the garages peeking. ew. this honestly creeped me out, so i am glad we stayed only 1 night.

Also, there is a hooters - & their outdoor patio - directly below us (is this why i got it so cheap hmmmm :)).  It's not a street that is between the hotel & the pk garage/subway, but rather a walkway.  It was quiet after 10:45, 11 ish.

the room itself - i agree w/ all the other reviews - modern, clean, big.  well not so clean.  my honey found an earplug next to the night stand!  as grossed out as i was, i laughed pretty damn hard at my honey's reaction to his find. could be worse.

all in all,   i wouldnt stay here again, only because we usually stay away from the heavy touristy areas.  we wanted to try a taste of somewhere we'd never really explored in sf & this hotel was great to accommodate that, w/ it's location. I'd make sure to stay away from the parking garage side.  views suck royally!

In comparison to the Marriott resort on Bay St., this is a better deal in my opinion. They now have valet parking although the Anchorage parking lot is right next door. It's been recently remodeled and convenient to everything, heck, In and Out is pratically in the building. The workout room is about 25% the size of the Marriott Resort's gym but who wants to be indoors when you are in San Francisco? My only suggestion is that they provide a San Francisco based newspaper along with USA Today, people from out of town are interested in the local news. I enjoy the free coffee and the friendly staff is notable.

The hotel room was clean, nothing super special. But the location was well worth the $150 that was paid, I believe that was the military discount rate for a double bed room, too. This hotel is right around the corner from Fisherman's Wharf..my favorite place in SF. The parking garage is right off the same street, the world famous Trolley's are up one block, and it was also very easy to take public transportation to explore other parts of the city. There is also a little convenient store and a pizza shop, my kind of place. I would definitely book here again.

My boyfriend and I thought this hotel was GREAT!! We stayed there 2 nights, and it was walking-distance close to everything we wanted to go to. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and our room was clean. We did take the advice of previous reviews and requested to stay on the top level (4th floor) to avoid street noise - we still heard some but it was not enough to gripe about. The rates were pretty good for San Fran prices. We did not visit the hotel breakfast/lunch restaurant as we felt the hotel's 'Market' prices were high, but close by was a Walgreens and liquor store if needed. There were also computers in the lobby where we could print up our boarding passes for free. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Marriott Fishermans Wharf for a great memory!!

Towels were dirty. The bathrooms were the filthiest. A gas station would have been cleaner. The staff was rude. My flight was late getting to the hotel and I was tired it took 40 minutes to get checked in because they do not train there people well. I hope people boycott all Marriott Hotels.

This place is a great value for the area.  The lobby is nice and updated.  The staff is friendly and helpful.  The cafe is nice.

The rooms are average sized and decently appointed.  The beds are comfortable.

The hotel is conveniently located.  You have several nearby options for food and activities.

Parking is costly, but it is everywhere in the city.

Unbeatable location for tourists in San Francisco, hotel is clean as a whistle, rooms are clean I say rooms cause my family occupied 3 rooms on 3rd floor all rooms were large, bright, clean and comfortable. Beds are very comfortable linens are very nice as well. Cable TV had a decent program package. This hotel is perfect for family with kids. You could book whole other bunch of trendy and fashionable places around but if you want a real good deal that won't break a bank, very comfortable place to rest before the day of adventures in a new town this is it . I would definitely recommend this hotel.

nice clean hotel with a great location....all good, would stay again. The reason only three stars.....

1. when I told the front desk about it being loud one night ( lots of door slams like a soccer team was going from room to room...more kids than adults kind of thing) he said " well i can not hear anything from here ( at the front desk) you have to call to tell us.......

and then just looked at me like it was my fault for not getting out of bed and doing something...kind of blah customer service. not what I am used to at a Marriott

2. breakfast at " the bistro" weak and expensive

Wonderful from beginning to end.  After driving and getting lost in the city it was great to pull into valet being greeted by smiling eager valet.  Check in was easy and room was clean and inviting.  Beds were comfortable and location is perfect to everything.  Scomas is nearby, Pier 39, Big Red Bus tour ect.  Would stay here again if ever in San Fran again.  Checked out the next day but was able to keep luggage/bags with front desk in a secure location and was able to keep the car in valet all day while site seeing, and didn't get the car until 5 that afternoon.  They say they allow you to keep it there until 8pm, this saves sooo much time and money, by not having to drive in the city and pay for parking.  So the valet parking price was really for 2 full days!  Well worth it!  They are very accommodating and wonderful!!

What a great hotel with a convenient location to Fisherman's Wharf.  The hotel has the option to valet park at the hotel or there is a self parking garage next door with in and out privileges.  The self parking is a little bit cheaper.  There is a small cafe on the second floor or there is a In n Out Burger nearly attached to the hotel.  There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.  The cable car hub is a short walk.  The BART is a bit of a hike from the hotel.  There is also a Walgreens up the street and a liquor store next to the hotel.  The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.

FYI.  I took a towncar to the SFO airport and it cost $55 flat fee plus tip.

Worst experience ever at a Marriott property.  We arrived just a few minutes after 9:00 pm. I had reserved a king size bed and they told me that there wasn't one available. I asked for valet parking and they told me they were full and that I needed to go park at a public parking garage and that I could bring the voucher to them and have it added to my bill. (For an additional fee)
After a long drive I needed to use the restroom urgently prior to checking in, the clerk told me that I could use the one down the hall. Down the hall actually took me to a shopping center. I could not locate the restroom and when I tried to get back I was not able to re-enter the hotel as a key is necessary to get back in. There is no buzzer and no one ever came to unlock the door. I had to go around the block to get back in to the hotel. When I came back a different clerk checked me in. When I told what happened she told me that I needed a key to get back in and that I could also check in and go to my room to use the restroom. I was directed to the "closest" bathroom. Unfortunately there was no recovery attempt for their mistake.
I am a gold elite member and although I told them several times about my membership status they never acknowledged me.  They are also supposed to guarantee the booked room type for gold elite members which never happened. For the parking situation ironically they allowed other guests that came in after us to park in the hotel lobby driveway when they had told me that I could leave my car there.
Will never use this property again. They certainly give Marriott a bad name.

Great location to AT&T Park. It was wonderful to be able to walk there and back so quickly. One of the best Jacuzzi tubs I have ever experienced. There was a small mischarge on my card but the manager, Sean, was very helpful and apologetic and resolved the issue. (Be sure to speak to a manager, the first person I talked to, Dominic, was unnecessarily rude and was the inpiration for me to first write a more negative review at first)
Overall, I would definitely stay here again when I  go to an event at ATT Park.

3.5 stars. A decent hotel for the money and location.  One of the newer Courtyards I've stayed in. i'd stay here again, but only if I needed to stay in the Fisherman's wharf area.

Valet parking was key. You can bet we relied on that!

I couldn't help notice that the lobby design and staff were trying a bit too hard to make it seem like a boutique hotel, complete with a concierge desk and modern styling.  But it still felt like part of a chain to me. Nice try though.

Our room was clean and reasonably spacious. Not being situated on the water, the view was poor. (The choices were the alley, or the street).

As for location, it couldn't have been better for the wife's participation in the "Escape from Alcatraz" ocean swim. A mere block from the finish line at Aquatic park.  Not for me though; I slept in more than she, and walked over to watch her on the last leg.

Stayed here for one night while in SF. The staff was nice and informative. The rooms were clean but construction was going on when we were there, that they didn't tell us about, so all morning we heard a jackhammer which was a tad annoying. Overall it is a great value and a good place to stay while playing tourist in SF.

The location is great to all of the tourist stuff (Pier 39, Alcatraz, Ghiradelli Square, Lombard Street etc.) all within walking distance but kind of out of the way for anything else SF has to offer. The BART doesn't reach Fisherman's Wharf, but within a block of the hotel you can take the F bus to downtown and from there pretty much go anywhere in the city which was pretty easy to do.

nice marriott, as always marriott hotels are superb compared to the rest
room was fresh, clean, comfy beds, good tv
lobby is clean and nice

now i gave 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 for multiple reasons...first, the location itself is not nice at all. any side you stay, you look out to a street or buildings
there are a lot of homeless as well perusing the area
also, the parking situation just does not make sense
you pay $50 to park with the hotel just for valet, but literally right next door you pay $40 because it is self park...really marriott?
oh well wouldn't mind coming back

This was just OK, with one really glaring problem.
I have status with Marriott as I travel a lot for work. I stay in A LOT of courtyards, and I get the standardized lobby, etc.
The room was OK - not a standout but decent enough for the price and location near the tourist areas. This hotel is obviously well set up for the tourist who will never be back.
GLARING problem - we needed to mail a pocket multi-tool (corkscrew, small knife, etc.)  back home because we knew it would likely be confiscated at the airport.  We asked at the front desk and the person we talked to was helpful - provided a small envelope inside a larger envelope for the tool.  He took the sealed envelope and said he would mail it.
Several days later, the envelopes arrived but the pocket tool was gone. The envelopes were  still sealed with the tape we had applied but had been slit open at the fold.
Obviously we don't know where in the process (hotel, mail carrier, post office, etc.) the pocket tool was stolen but the entire thing left a very distinct (bad) impression of the hotel and we won't recommend it - or if you DO stay there, don't leave anything with the front desk.

Was a great hotel. Off fishermens warf and pier 39. Close enough to walk, but enough away to sleep
Staff was fantastic. Was open, inviting and friendly. Helpful with getting cabs setup, places to eat and some current events around town that may cause crowds and maybe places to avoid
The room was nice. Clean and put together. All the norms, TV, fridge, hair dyer, ect. No microwave but I am finding fewer rooms with one?  Internet was free wifi. It's okay, able to stream a movie with not too much issue. Browsing web was fine, especially for a free connection.
Shower was hot and the shower head was actually not 4 feet off the floor. Very nice to be able to shower and not half to duck to wash your hair.
Parking was NOT included in the price of the room, normal for this area. Parking next door is 4 dollars a day cheaper, but recommend the valet service.

Great hotel, would recommend and definitely stay again
