Good location, great price. Clean large room. Do request a room away from the street. Rooms facing Lombard or Franklin are extremely loud due to traffic noise all night. Sliding glass doors are not dbl-paned. Also would be nice in have a small in room fridge.

A year later from the review posted, my 2 kids and I stayed here 7/14-7/16 for $135 a night (maybe there were discounts I missed??). I would say the exact same thing - clean but worn, free parking, nice front desk. DO NOT get a room that faces the street unless you can be lulled to sleep by traffic. The sliding glass door is paper thin. With the extra $ they are receiving from last year, let's hope they'll invest in double-pane glass.

I was driving up from LA and looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel not too far away from the Wharf and found this place.  It was $95 or something for a Friday stay and offered Free parking so I thought I'd give it a shot.  The exterior of the hotel and lobby look like they haven't been updated since the 70's or something so I wasn't sure what they room would be like.  The room was just ok, but it was very clean and really quiet.  The walk to the Wharf was no problem and they have free wifi so you can Yelp from the road.  I would recommend if you're looking for a cheap place in the area and can deal with fact that it's a little bit ghetto.

Clean, cheap, free parking, easy walk to the wharf.  Paid 104.00 for two nights.....street side was noisy but overall, it was fine.  Didn't use the wi-fi cause I am not in SF to watch movies.

Stayed here on an overnight in SF recently (7/15-7/16) . $96 for a double for 2 people including the on site self parking is hard to beat. Pretty convenient if you want to drive or leave the car and bus around town.
Older venue motel but it was CLEAN and front desk staff was pretty nice. No real complaints. Would go back again.

Great service; clean room; wonderfully comfortable bed; free parking; free wired and wireless internet; great rates.  The rooms have recently been refurbished.  Request a room on the back side of the inn - not on Lombard street.  Otherwise, the street noise might bother you.

We ended up here after the sister hotel 'ran out of rooms' anway...I'm glad! This place was the best for our forst time in san fran and at a great price on bookit.com . Less than $99/night for the location and excellent room size (huge) and really, really clean. Spotlessly clean. no noise from the 3rd floor at all. Great, new a/c in the room. Fresh towels and toiletries. I read mixed reviews but thankfully this place is really excellent and we walked to Fishermans Wharf in 15-20n mins and it was a great pleasent walk! In July, it was actually really hot! The area is one of the safest in my opinion and never saw any crazyness in the neighbour hood. Great cheap eateries on polk street less than 2mins walk away, check my reviews for some good cheap eats and fun ideas if you've never been before, we had a great time and would definately stay here again!!

Clean and comfortable room.  Free parking, and a short walk to Ghirardelli Square.  Convenient to the MUNI.

We got a room in the back of the motel, but the people coming in and out of their rooms (i think there was an Elephant w/Bowling Balls convention) were very loud at all times of the night.

The rooms could use updating, but it didn't bother me.  The marble tile in the bathrooms were beautiful, but COLD!!  Bring your slippers.

Great value.  I'll be back again.

I considered the Lombard Motor Inn to be a budget type of hotel so based on that assumption I was very pleased with my stay.  The price was great for the location and included free parking.  It is just a couple of blocks from the famous view of Lombard Street and a short walk to Ghirardeli Square.  The front desk has a black and white map of the area that was one of the most useful maps I found for the trip.  It detailed transportation options that would have been nice if we didn't feel like walking.
While there were a couple of old stains on the carpet, the room was clean.  Sliding glass door on the shower was nice too.  The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've been in but perfectly fine for one night.  Coffee, tea and wireless Internet were included with the room.
The surrounding neighborhood included other hotels, restaurants and some houses; it seemed perfectly safe.

I called to receive help and was treated very rudely by a woman named Suann. When I tried to ask a question she said she did not have time. She must have know I was going to complain because I called back and asked to speak to the manager and to refused to offer any information to contact him. I work in San Francisco in the tour industry as well and I will NEVER recommend this hotel MOTEL to any customers and will send the anywhere but to here.

I found this hotel very comfortable for the price and the tempurpedic beds were an awesome plus.  That said my only complaint was they block all the output sources on the tv so you can't play movies from your iPad.  For the life of me I don't understand that especially when they don't offer any movies or movie channels.   Why do they care if you want to watch your movies.  The other problem was no coffee houses close to get my morning fix.   Pluses were free Internet, free parking and comfy beds we stayed in the front and we were not bothered by the noise but some might be. It was a little far to walk to fishermans wharf, so if you are looking for close to that, you should stay at the Holiday inn but I think they don't have free parking.  It was very nice for the price but I hope they read this review and unblock the tv outputs.

Lombard Motor Inn was  amazing deal for free Internet and parking.

After driving from LA to SF, my husband and I needed to check into our hotel room. After a few minutes to check, we were treated to clean and comfortable  room. It was walking distance  from amazing restaurants like Alegrias and Home Plate.

My only complaint would be the front desk suggest Luigi's Delicatessen. It was closed...

We were pretty bummed when the place we stayed at on our trip before last -- the Columbus Motor Inn -- was charging $155 a night during our next trip to the City. Granted, $155/night w/free Internet and parking really isn't a bad deal at all given the location, but suffice to say, we were on somewhat of a shoestring; and so Columbus was a no-go.

We were happy to find, however, that the Lombard Motor Inn wasn't too far away; is owned by the same company; and was offering the same exact room, albeit a little older, for $89/night. We'll take it! -- Who wouldn't?

As for the location, it was a bit sketchier than North Beach, but we never felt unsafe, not even when walking at night. I'm sure buses or taxis would have been available, but for the most part, we prefer to walk when we can so didn't use them. Ghiradelli Square was about 10 minutes away what way; In-N-Out Burger was about 25; and we could get all the way down to Pier 39 in 30 to 40. Just remember after all that walking, there is always the walk back. We also did the walk down the crooked part of Lombard and took some pictures. I've done it in a car before, but really enjoyed the views from a walking stance. I would recommend it, but beware, the uphill part is not easy if you are not used to it, and I'm actually in pretty good shape.

The balcony was awesome, and bigger than it was at the Columbus -- with much more to look at. We could see the mountains, the city, and the Golden Gate Bridge from ours on the third floor.

Our floor was quiet. It may be the season, but at times, it was hard to believe anyone else was there. I was a little worried about noise from the reviews, but we actually didn't have any issues at all. In fact, I once stayed in a Four Star suite in the Financial District, and the noise was much, much worse at all ours of the night.

There's a great cafe a couple blocks away if you are looking to get breakfast. Cafe Golo. Amazing and cheap.

There's also a convenience/grocery store on the same block as the hotel. The staff there was friendly, and they had lots of food, beer, and liquor.

Housekeeping was great, and our room was always kept clean and we were furnished with anything we ever requested. The come every other day unless you request otherwise in order to conserve water, etc. We always had coffee, cups, and clean towels.

The Verdict: A great stay for a great price. I would highly recommend it.

A friend recommended Colombus Motor Inn but it was full so I checked out the website for its sister motel, Lombard Motor Inn. The price was right and the reviews decent so I gave it a try. My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in June. It was fantastic! Affordable, good location, recently renovated room, comfortable beds, good shower, helpful front desk, free Internet, and free parking! We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay her again and recommend it to others.

This past weekend me and a friend came across Lombard Motor Inn during an spontaneous late night trip to Sausalito. @ around 11pm it seemed ALL places were all booked or too expensive. Finally just ready to settle for almost anything we drove to the city and past this place. At night it looked far from impressive but we no longer cared... HOWEVER, we were pleasantly surprised at our room. Way better quality than expected! Nice decor, flat screen tv, cable, super comfortable beds, free parking, Ice machine was just 1 door down. It even smelled clean. Nice sized room. Friendly staff at front desk. Lots of eateries, bars, and stores around. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it.

Pretty cheap. Very clean, comfy beds, nice view of the street from a balcony. Great location too. I walked to the wharf, and after taking a cable car to Powell street we walked back without trouble (It might be good to note that my friends and I like to walk though, so a 45 minute stroll is no issue for me). The wifi cut out a bit, but oh well, I wasn't staying to sit on the internet. Free parking for guests, what else can you ask for really?

This hotel was okay. Some of the staff was friendly, but the place was run down.

The positives: free parking, comfy bed and a decent price.

The negitives: it's old. The showers are small and you have to nearly back bend to wash your hair. Also it's not so appealing on the eyes.

Stayed 3 nights.  Bed was comfortable.  Nice and quiet on the backside. Only negative comment is that the nice new LG flat screen TV did not have an HDMI plug. Didn't know that until after I rented 2 videos from Redbox and had my l laptop set up and then looked for the HDMI plug.  The cable TV is pretty minimal as far as channel availability.  At over $200 a night it wasn't quite worth it.

We were visiting SF for a Xmas shopping trip and quick visit with cousins over breakfast, driving down from the far reaches of No. CA. FREE PARKING was a huge plus, the convenience to the GG bridge, wonderful neighborhoods in the vicinity. The room itself wasn't 4 star accomodations, but we weren't there to hang out in the room. The beds were super comfortable, though, and the bathrooms were recently remodeled with some nice touches modernizing the middle aged motor inn. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with everything. Reservations were easy to make. We highly recommend this place and will make this our go to place for similar SF trips in the future.

5 stars just based on customer service. I didn't even get a room. My car had broken down outside of this inn and the staff member Edgar was just an outstanding person. He saw me and my girlfriend outside and it was cold. He welcomed us inside to stay warm, offered coffee, and water. He even offered me a charger so that my phone wouldn't die while waiting for confirmation on my tow trucks arrival. Because of all that I would definitely stay here next time i am in town. Edgar is a hell of a character and he's all about customer service whether you're a client or not.

Free parking & clean. Surprisingly clean room for the way the place looks. Smell in the hallways was horrible and was bad in our room. Like old musty perfume and too much air freshener to try to cover up something. Cleanliness for me is important and when my fiancé booked it I was annoyed to say the least, but surprised when we got there. Noise wasn't a big issue. We did hear road noise when going to sleep and when waking up, but nothing more than normal. Although we are city people, so for some it might be too much. Would I return here again? Price was decent and it was available on short notice so we chose it, otherwise... um probably not. But it honestly wasn't too bad. They had free wifi too which was good.

This group of hotels was recommended by two different friends, and I'm glad we listened.  The room was very nice and clean, the tempurpedic mattress was a bonus, and the staff was excellent!  For $128 a night plus free parking, in a perfect location, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal!  This will be our go-to from now on.

Free parking! This is a big deal!

Little annoyed with the parking situation though. There were no available spots when I came in for the night, attendant told me to park in one of the reserved for registration spots on the 1st floor port. Next day we get a call to move our car as someone is registering. I go to move my car and the half parking lot was empty...tad annoying as you have to drive around the block to get to the entrance of the lower lot; not a big deal but still :-/

Manager (female) not too welcoming :-/

Rooms are typical. Safe in the room which we used. Nice TV. Nice shower. Pretty cool balcony which overlooks a busy Lombard Street. Easy walk to the "crooked" part Lombard :-)

15 year old daughter was happy so I was happy.

I would stay here again :-)

Rooms are fine. Most importantly THEY ARE CLEAN! Price is low and the location is close to all the places I like to go; Wharf, North Beach, Union Square. As most people mention in these reviews, the parking is free.

The best selling point of the LMI is the front desk staff.  They have ALWAYS given us 5  star concierge service at every turn. You would think you were at a hotel with $700/night rooms.

Came for the price and location, but will return because of the service.

The room was ok but the bed was rock hard and the pillows where way to soft. I had the worst nights sleep and woke up with a back ache.

It was walking distance to most things. The free parking was a plus.

Description in one word: Edgar. Definition: above and beyond customer service. I stayed here 4th of July weekend with my mom and little sister. The room was average, but the best for the price. No complaints about the accommodations. The star of the hotel is the afternoon concierge Edgar. He will tell you right where to go in town, how to get there, a little history of the city, and will give you his honest opinion. Friendly, personable, and down to Earth. He was a big help to our nice vacation in San Francisco.

Management if you're reading, you have a great employee.

Stayed at lombard motor inn this past weekend while in the city for my birthday weekend,my friends and i were in a 2 bed room on the third floor facing lombard,as previously stated the noise is loud when facing lombard but what do you expect when staying in a city such as san fran with cars always going by,I personally loved it cause we were able to sit on the balcony and people watch and that was a show all in itself, closed the door and to bed we went. The room was clean..for the most part, dated yes, can use a little facelift as stated also in past reviews but for the price that we received was a super deal so we didn't care plus your supposed to sleep in the room not stay in all day, cause If you are your just not vacationing right :) I stayed in room 312 which had a great view of the palace of fine arts and the golden gate bridge!!! I made the request and was so very happy it was granted. The staff...Edgar Edgar Edgar,if this dude isn't management he sure as hell should be cause he was on Point with his knowledge recommendations, customer service, attitude and all around a great person to interact with !! I had a question about some costs to some places and without hesitation he looked them up without me even asking , as someone who works for a company such as Nordstrom where service is everything and customer first,i was beyond satisfied and happy to receive that here serpassing my personal expectations. The parking is also free!!! I paid 55 a night at the Marriott in fisherman's wharf last year so this was a huge plus, on Saturday evening we arrived back and all the parking was full, the front desk employee  (name I didn't catch) moved his car right away and let me park in his spot, again great service, I will be returning in a few months and will definitely be staying here.

My husband and I took a last minute, quick trip to San Francisco.  We were just there for one night and needed someplace decent, but not pricey.  Lombard Motor Inn fit the bill.  The parking was a definite plus, the room was comfortable and clean.

BUT the best part about the Lombard Motor Inn was that I left my wedding ring and earrings in the room when we checked out.  I didn't realize it until we were at the airport about to fly out.  I called immediately and the man at the front desk when up to the room and retrieved the items.  I then had them Fed Exed back to me.  Their honestly was astounding (I've left stuff in hotel rooms before never to get it back).  For this reason alone, I would stay there again!

Very simple and the rooms are not that nice. These get made up for with the great location in addition to the free parking. This a good place to go if you want to go to San Francisco without the huge price tag. The staff were very helpful and nice as well. We had a room by the street and it was pretty loud but I love the city feel like that. Not suggested for light sleepers though. Would stay here again because of the location and price.

Stayed one night and would definitely go back. It's a great location for a good price  with easy access to bus line. Free parking was a huge benefit. Front desk - Edgar's customer service was off the charts excellent!  Rooms weren't fancy but fine and beds were very comfy. The only negative was when we checked in, we were given a room that hadn't been cleaned or made up yet from previous guests. A phone call to the front desk and quick room switch took care of it in two minutes. Mistakes happen; it was no big deal. I'll stay there again for sure.

The location and the price for the room was excellent. Its located in a place where you can easily access SF hot spots within a decent walking distance and the room was pretty clean. Free parking is a massive plus!

The only issues I had were:

-If you chose a room with a balcony be prepared for lots of street noise. The balcony doors aren't sound proof so you hear the streets quite easily.
-Bathroom light didn't work so had to use the heated lamp.
    -WiFi never worked.

I would recommend this hotel to others though since its a great location.

Boyfriend and I stayed here or a night for our anniversary, and we definitely were satisfied. We had stayed at another hotel for two days prior and once we got into our room in Lombard, we wish we stayed there the whole trip!
Free parking is always a plus, especially in that city. The lobby and elevator were a little sketchy at first but once we got into the room we were impressed. Memory foam mattress, tile shower, and a balcony with a very faint view of the bridge. We loved it. There's also some awesome bars across the street which was another plus.
Will definitely stay here next time.
