This hotel was in a good location. We are not big into public transportation, so walked everywhere we went around town (average 10 miles a day). The hotel was close enough to everything we wanted to visit. However, most will prefer to take public transportation. They were a bit stingy with pillows; we had three for a queen bed, and I had to beg for a fourth. The pillows were pretty flat. The room itself was nice and clean, with a nice flat screen TV hanging from the wall. All hotels in San Francisco are expensive. This was the best rate we could find, at $130/night.

This was a great motel! Totally recommend the stay. Not so pricy (actually pretty cheap compared to other places) and great service! Two thumbs up!!!

Not a huge fan of this motel. The location was great and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Was a bit expensive, but compared to other motels/hotels in the area it appeared to be the best deal. Booked this hotel through Hotwire and my only real complaint about it is that on Hotwire it advertises this motel as having free parking. Well, it's only free if you're able to find a parking space in their very LIMITED parking area - first come, first serve. Everyone else is on their own. So, if you stay here, be aware that you might not have a parking space and your only other option is to pay to park in one of the local garages. Also, as far as cleanliness, it was OK. There did appear to be some mold on the bathroom walls. If given the opportunity, not sure if we would choose to stay here again.

I have family in the Cow Hollow district, and they set me up at this place during a stay in San Francisco (my first, I might add). It's a totally normal motel (not "hotel") that got the job done, at least during my 10-day residence there.

The location is really key for someone visiting for the first time, within walking distance to beautiful views by the bay, and Chestnut Street, stuffed with more bars, coffee shops, bookstores and other nifty places that you can shake an inflated San-Francisco-priced stick at.

Came here around midnight looking for a last minute room for Outside Lands. The night manager was really nice so I'll give him that. Bed was comfortable, but other than that it looked indeed like a cheap-ish motel. Paint was a bit off in the bathroom, sink was glossy black with glitter...tacky. But what really disgusted me was upon further inspection there was a toenail on the carpet from a previous guest....DISGUSTING!!! Needless to say I wanted out asap. Ugh...I'm gonna gag just thinking about it...

Stunning doesn't even begin to describe the paradise that is the Super 8 Motel in San Francisco, California. My girlfriend and I decided to have a romantic getaway in the city and booked a room for the night here. Our expectations were knocked out of the water. On the outside it looks like a San Francisco town home but when you go inside you are instantly transported to the streets of Venice. The area is a lively place for young adults and we had a great evening of chain smoking cigarettes and drinking beer while riding the bus. After our romantic evening we returned to our room to turn our flame into a roaring fire. The room had everything you could need and more. Prepare to be blown away by the beauty of the aging paint and the paper mâché smoke detectors. If you require assistance in the bathroom, this is the place for you with plenty of handle bars to make using the commode or taking a shower that much easier. Looking for dinner and a show? Look no further because the entertainment center and kitchen are right on top of one another. You microwave your lean cuisine and watch Maury at the same time. Prepare to have hunger satisfied at the morning breakfast with your choice of Raisin Bran or Frosted Flakes. If your curious what time it is in Japan, Germany, London, or New York get your questions answered with their world clock display. But nothing was better than lingering in bed falling off to sleep and gazing out the window into Venice. I wish there were more stars to give because 5 just aren't enough.

For the price, this motel is definitely as good as it's going to get! Paid $200 for a 2-night stay, with fees and taxes included! Plus, $25 fee for a broken coffee pot (whoops!!). I think the fee was way overpriced but it's their call so oh well.

Great, new heater/ac unit, flat screen tv, jacuzzi bathtub, fridge, microwave, coffee pot and it  felt very clean. It was very small and cozy! I was a little disappointed at the cigarette burn holes in the comforter (non-smoking room, at that), but it's not a huge deal.

I would stay here again if the prices stay the same! Thank you!

Don't forget to tip housekeeping if you are there for more than one day :)

Excellent!
Clean, great location and very friendly.
Right down hill from Cow Hollow, around corner from coffee shops, restaurants and bus.
Very nice continental breakfast.
Reasonably priced and quiet!
Very, very nice accommodating owners and staff.
Thank you!

My mother and I just returned from San Francisco Oct. 17,2014, and although a decent location... this review is a MUST.  This motel is not updated, and there are NO amentities here.  The continental breakfast is in the tiny lobby, and VERY incomplete.  Paper plates, with boyds coffee.  I booked this over a month ago, and stated that I was traveling with my 77 yr. old mother.  We were put on the top floor 3rd., and there is NO ELEVATOR!  Unbelievable.  There is NO POOL, no lounge, no ice bucket even available in the room.  Twice we were interrupted by staff, attempting to clean the room at 9am!  The stay  was over $325/ nt. during the week!  Very disappointed.  Look elsewhere.  The tv was crooked in the room, the bathroom was dirty (mold in the white caulking around the tub, and there is not even a light over the make up mirror.  The owners should be ashamed of this place.  I had to write this review ASAP, to help others STEER CLEAR OF SUPER 8 ON LOMBARD!  The fisherman's wharf is 3 miles away!

If not for the EXTREME lack of parking I would have given 5 stars! Room was cute & clean...can't beat the price either. We would definitely stay again.

Very quiet place. Staff very friendly. Not close enough for me to walk to most tourist places but caught  a cab from here for less than $15. Breakfast was minimal but the cinnamon rolls were delicious.

When I was redirected to Super 8 after the hotel I originally booked was having room issues I thought I was being down graded. I was happily wrong.
The rooms are cute, small, but include a lot, a comfy chair, desk, mini refrigerator and microwave. The staff is really nice. Nick at the front desk was very helpful.
The hotel is on a busy street, but because the rooms are a bit off from the street it's pretty quiet. Its far least noisy then other hotels I have stayed at in SF.
I'd for sure stay here again!

I've had a pretty mixed bag of experiences with the motels on Lombard. Travelodge? Fantastic. Days Inn? Atrocious. Surf Motel? Acceptable. Super 8? Not bad!

It was a spacious enough (room enough for me to use my foam roller comfortably) and reasonably clean room. The linens weren't completely grody, and the towels weren't 20 grit sandpaper-like. We even had a nice enough view of the street scene below with a room on the top floor. And get this -- there was even decent enough parking! That is, I'm guessing the hotel wasn't totally full, as there were spaces in its mini-lot even at night.

It was super expensive when we stayed ($175/night!!!) but that's totally because all the hoteliers were preying on us B2B runners who weren't smart enough to book way ahead of time. I'm sure it's probably closer to $60-80 a night normally.

You're not going to get much at the Super 8 price point in SF, so you gotta jump on it when you can and the place is decent.

I arrived at this very small motel in the evening after 10pm. The front desk guy was rude, anxious and in a hurry to do something more important than give potential customers a minute. The rate was very cheap  for SF, free parking too. It was the very rude front desk guy, that made me leave. Super 8 doesn't have much of a reputation for cleanliness, or high end motel, and this guy is the epitome of their branding.

I decided to go elsewhere. If I'm going to give my money away, the establishment should at least act like they appreciate my business.

We had parking the whole time- but it was a scarily small lot. The hotel was great and the staff was very nice. The continental breakfast was better than I expected with a decent variety of free toast, waffle, cereal, fruit, coffee, OJ etc. The room seemed very clean and it was filled with nice features such as a fridge (of course), a microwave, dish TV (wow!), wifi, etc etc.

As an example of the great staff: when we first got there, we got in to our room and uncovered the bed, used the restroom, and then opened the fridge to find out it wasn't working. After trying to fix it, the guy moved us to another room and kept a NICE attitude even after he found out we had already used the toilet and messed up the bed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. Good price, good location, good room, good staff... Good stay!

This place was good...free parking was def a plus and selling point for us.  The manager Rob was so incredibly nice and helpful!  It was quiet and the beds were quite comfy but weren't the cleanest.  Random raisins on the floor and random hair everywhere.  But, it was good enough, great location and the manager made us feel so welcomed!  Would stay again!

Just about the worst motel experience ever.  I arrived an hour and a half prior to check  and as I got out of the car I asked to use the restroom after my long drive. The manager should not be in the customer service industry. He refused the use of a restroom and told me the my car had to be moved!  I get it...SF... bottom of the barrel motel...limited parking...bathrooms for customers...etc...  Manager never showed his hidden nice side.  Dirty rooms, room service came into my room with the do not disturb sign up.  Not a good stay. La Luna or Chelsea Inn will get my business next time

Cute, comfortable, priced very competitively, great VALUE! Met Rob and Susan, owners, and both were very gratuitous and welcoming! Great city location to conveniently get anywhere in the city you need to be fairly quickly. Rooms are a bit dated, furniture wise, but otherwise had all the amenities. The bed was FABULOUS and comfortable, TV with cable was very nice, free Wi-Fi ! Cleanliness met my standards and I felt very comfortable here! I would highly recommend a stay at this establishment! Thank-you Rob and Susan.

Pleasant little motel near the Golden Gate Bridge area. It's close to great restaurants, convenience stores, and shops. The beach area near Golden Gate Bridge is just walking distance from the motel. The rooms have been renovated and have light sensors in the bathroom as well as in the closets. The managers are husband and wife and are extremely helpful when it comes to giving directions and fun facts about the area. Breakfast mainly consists of three different cereal brands, coffee, and bagels. All in all, this is a nice place to stay at for singles and couples. Very convenient.

My bf and i stay here often. Rob the owner is very nice. He gives exceptional service. I enjoy the rooms. Each room has a type of lounge chair. My only complaint is that they need harder pillows. As well as some of the beds need to be updated. I still get a good nights rest.We will be back. We actually recommend this motel to our friends.

Decent place to crash. Clean rooms, nothing fancy. The rooftop lounge area is great on a nice day!
Parking is a battle, bring a small car and arrive early to get a spot. Once you're in, take the bus and leave your car, or you might lose your spot.

Location was convenient, but the desk guy said we should do a hop on hop off bus not the public transportation. Glad we didn't listen to him (I think he was getting commission) for half the price, the public Muni system was super easy and convenient to the hotel.

Don't count on the wifi though, it was horrible!

Overall, it was a good place to start and end our day on vacation.

Literally just left this hotel and when we got to the hotel, Susan and Robert (owners) were so nice and very helpful to get around. It started great for my husband and I, whom it was our first time being here in San Francisco for our 14 yr anniversary. The price is great and room clean and cozy. Unfortunately, all this ended on a bad note as the night before we left we mentioned we may want to take advantage of their shuttle service and would let them know in the morning if we would. After researching we found out that Uber was great way to go as it would only cost us $15 to the airport. And this hotels shuttle was $20 per person, which would be a total of $40 for both. Next morning at 8am we informed Robert we weren't going to take his shuttle and he said he had already paid the night before so we agreed to do so we didn't inconvenience him. However come to find out once the shuttle got there, Robert ran out to the shuttle and paid right there and then and made since why Robert didn't want us to come before 2. The shuttle was only $26 for both. So Robert just lost customers for a few bucks for being dishonest and sneaky! So guys, the best way to go is call the Shuttle directly or Uber it! Also if you want to ride the Big Bus Tour, do not buy from Super 8 as they will charge you double each ticket. Buy directly from the Big Bus Tour office in Fisherman's Wharf!

The manager on duty, Rob was very helpful! The room was a lot better then I expected. The room that my friend I checked into just had a renovations. The room had the new flat screen t.v, new floors, a microwave, and mini fridge. This place was a lot better then the previous hotel we stayed at. We liked it so much we decided to stay an extra day.

Way better than I expected. They gave us one of the newly remodeled rooms and it had wood floors, leather furniture and the bathroom was very nice. Pretty good for $100, which is super cheap for SF. Parking is free but limited (took a star off for that). Free wi-fi too. The manager was very friendly and helpful and there's plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. No elevator so had to drag my chubby butt up the stairs lol

I don't recommend this super 8  at all I'm honest on yelping but the manager is beyond rude and very unprofessional! It's sad, first off I made the reservation through the super 8 ////1800 number my reservation was confirm weeks in advance we arrive on the check in date and he refused to give me a copy of my receipt only to look at my account this Mr Robert charged my $200 extra !!! I was planning on staying there for 3 nights but after seeing how crooked this franchise business is I went to the office to cancel and he refuses to refund me so I left with him charging me for a night I'm not even going to be there please people don't go there! Look around... Mr Robert is a crook!!

The Front Desk Manager, Robert, was very weird. He was kind and He helped us out with the places we can see or go to in San Fransisco but he seemed to hate his job also. He gave us attitude at times too but anyways, He did checked us into a great room. We got the view of the street with opening windows, which was kind of nice:) Clean bed sheets, clean towels, and got room service the next day too. Definitely a great place to stay, but I'm hoping it'll be better after all the construction. Not going to lie, it was very loud with all the drilling. Hopefully next time we visit it will be finished and we will stay again!

I was just looking for an economical place to stay while I was in town for a convention and stayed here for 2 nights ... So here goes my review....
I had previously stayed at super 8 in South Dakota ,Colorado and Utah and had excellent experiences. This one did not disappoint !
It PASSED my rigorous bed bug inspection with flying colors...(I'm from Denver..I know all too much about bed bugs) so this is already a plus in my book. The room is very nice and clean and the beds had goose down comforters. The owners are super nice...
Will definitely stay again .

My wife and I were in San Fransisco a few weeks ago celebrating our wedding anniversary. Even though our booking was confirmed, we found out when we arrived that Booking.com had declined our credit card without notifying us. As a result, we had no reservation and the Super 8 had no vacancies. The owners Robert and Susan couldn't have been more apologetic even though it was no fault of theirs. They helped us out immensely that evening by calling around to find us a good hotel at a decent rate. They went as far as booking us at their Super 8 the following night at an extremely discounted rate.

The hotel itself is really clean and quaint - not what you'd expect of a Super 8, as it's more akin to a privately owned hotel or even a boutique establishment. The room we had was somewhat small, but was nice and had recently been updated with hardwood floors, new paint, a large flat panel TV, etc. Our one tiny complaint is that the bed had squeaky springs on one side. The Marina neighborhood also has a lot to offer.

I can't say enough how nice Robert and Susan are and they are great to talk to. They are also very knowledgable about the city.

The next time we go to San Fran, there is no doubt that we'll stay at the Super 8 again.

Both Rob and Susan have been exceptional. We felt very welcomed and rarely have I met motel/hotel management with such sincerity. The management is fantastic and was an overall A+

The location is great for tourism. My buddies and I are frequent hikers so the location is perfect if you are more of an outdoors individual. Not too far from fisherman's wharf, golden gate park, and golden gate park. Location is an A.

Additional bonuses:
1. Complimentary parking
2. Room was very nice
3. Rate of the room was a very good deal

When I return to San Francisco I will be staying here.
