Red toxic waste truck parked beneath my window.
You have to drive through the Sleep Train parking lot to get to the hotel.

When you use the ice machine, the water level in the pool drops.

No, it doesn't but I wouldn't be surprised. The pool was out of order during our entire stay. No one was working on it either. That doesn't mean you can't go swimming, because the shower in the bathroom doesn't drain and you end up with a 6" of water in the tub. Break out the pool toys!

I don't think they wash the carpets. Every day or so they squirt 'em with deodorizer. Everything in this place smells like deodorizer.

Dim lobby. One of the front desk clerks also a little dim.

Stuffy rooms. Can't open the window because of the freeway noise. Lotsa cars that go boom in SJ.

    Perks-
Roach Coach shows up late night. Didn't stay up late enough to see what the customer demographic was. Drunk people stumbling out of Chuck E Cheese's next door?

Couldn't find the lanai or the garden. Must be on the roof.

Mattress and pillows new and clean. I was shocked!
They really looked clean, but I didn't bring my UV light, so I can't swear to this.

Typical Best Western off of a busy freeway. I was able to get three rooms on Thanksgiving weekend on short notice for about $100 each. My room was clean and the the heater worked great. A no frills experience, but exactly what I needed on short notice.

Well I guess we should've read the reviews more thoroughly before booking here. Seeing the structure from afar is easy, but if you're heading SW on Tully Rd, you HAVE to turn right onto Lanai Ave to access its parking lot, otherwise you'll miss it and be forced to go onto 101 north! What a drag!

Room was typical for a motel, stuffy and looked a bit beat up.

Pool was actually very clean, water was cold but oh well.

What really struck me about this location is the staff. Oh man, the two that I interacted with were NOT friendly, definitely appeared to HATE their jobs, and certainly can use some customer service training.

They don't greet you, they don't seem to even want to look at you, they do not dress proffessionally, they sounded rude upon answering the phone, etc.

This BW location is also lame. They have free wi-fi but they dont tell you about it, don't give you the code unless you call the front desk and ask. Then when you do, the guy at the front desk is rude to you, speaks out the the wi-fi code really quick then hangs up on you, doesnt give you a chance to confrm. Room as hardwire internet but they dont supply a cat5 cable.

Lastly, I used credit card points to book this room. When I checked in, they wanted my CC to swipe as a "hold" for incidentals. This is std practice, so all good. When using points for rooms, I, upon checking out, like to confirm with that I'm done and out, so I like to get a final check-out, hardcopy printout as a way to ensure my CC is clear. This way they don't charge bogus charges onto my CC later. I've always done this, never an issue in the past.

Well, the front desk guy here adamently REFUSED to print me one. He kept saying that I don't need it; that it was prepaid so he CAN'T give me a print out; that I should get it from whoever I booked the room through. Lame. Trying to save on ink toner and paper that bad huh?

    This BW location, NOT recommneded.

nice hotel, nice staff, and clean hotel, near airport, all good. construction was going on and the place was not so easy to get in and out , but that will all be fixed when you get there.

Contrary to all these other reviews I actually had some fairly good experiences here. To address some:

    1. It's a Best Western. Not the Marriott. You get what you pay for.

    2. It's not the hotel's fault the intersection of Lanai and Tully is confusing.

    3. In the several times I've stayed here the freeway noise hasn't been particularly bothersome. In fact it's barely noticeable. Welcome to California. We have lots of freeways.

    4. The rooms are clean and beds are well made. No, there isn't gourmet coffee roast in the lobby or Crepes Bonaparte served for breakfast. Get over yourself.

    5. There are places way more ghetto than downtown San Jose. In fact, it has one of the lowest crime rates of any big city with 1M+ population.

Stayed one night at this hotel and very satisfied with it.  We had a miserable stay at a different hotel(?) the previous night and were looking for another hotel to stay at on our second night.  This particular Best Western was a good find.  Tuan at the front desk assisted us with our last-minute reservation and Shenaida checked us in with a smile and some room freshener because our room smelled like cigarette smoke (from gentlemen smoking outside the lobby entrance, which was right below our room window).  Aside from the noise from the busiest road in San Jose, the room was quiet and comfortable.  Slept like a rock and woke up refreshed and ready to go the following morning.  We had a good breakfast compliments of the hotel and left with Tuan wishing us a pleasant trip.  Love this place and recommend it highly.  We would stay here again.

I spent two weeks here on business. I've been to Best Westerns and read the previous Yelp reviews so I was a bit skeptical. I left impressed.

The hotel is a two-story building near the freeway in a so-so neighborhood. There are many Mexicans and Vietnamese in the area. This is a good thing ( I think). There are also a lot of homeless/panhandlers. Don't let this distract you from staying here. There's a Denny's across the street, a Jack-in-the Box close by, a mall and a Target close by. Many amenities are nearby. The view of the hills is quite nice. The parking lot is kinda small but accommodating enough. The Vietnamese and Mexican food all around is very good. You cant go wrong with the Vietnamese food in particular.

The hotel itself was rather impressive for what it is. It's a Best Western Plus so it has a few extra accommodations. The rooms have refrigerators, soft beds and bedding and towels, flat screen TV's , free WiFi, built in soap and conditioner dispensers and an iron and ironing board. The rooms are painted nicely and furnished stylishly. The cable TV didn't always correspond with the listings but was fine. The AC was working very well. The rooms were kept clean every day. The microwave worked just fine. The showers have European curtain racks. The toilets have a strong flush to them. One annoyance was hearing the people on the upper floor walking around at times. The bathroom nearby also was loud when used. Very annoying. The morning breakfast was standard but quite nice: Coffee, eggs, sausages, yougert, cereal, bread....you could even make your own waffles! The lounge area where you eat has a large screen TV and a computer that was so-so to use. Printer was difficult to deal with. The pool was quite nice. Triangular with a depth of 5'-0" max it is tucked away in a secluded part of the site. A nice place to take a dip in. The staff was friendly and helpful...well two of the four more so and the cleaning people were cool. They had fresh cookies every night. Nice touch.

Overall this was a pleasant place to stay. It's clean, you can park here, if you're not particular about the surrounding neighborhood, you'll think it's just right. There are enough things in the area to keep you supplied with anything you might need to get. Check out the Eastside Mall up the street on Tully Road. Across the street is an airfield and you can watch planes take off and land by flying over the Mall. It is very cool !

Spent 4 nights here on business.

It's located near the freeways and there are plenty of Viet/Mexican restaurants in walking distance. A CVS/starbucks/liquor store/etc are all just a stroll away as well.

Checking in and out was seamless and there is always someone on staff at the front. Prices are decent. Rooms are serviced everyday and are kept very clean. The bed is comfortable and there is a writing desk with fast Wi-fi provided. Each room has a fridge and coffee maker. Out in the back, there is a small pool area.

My bathroom seemed to leak at times, but nothing serious. On one particular night, I slept around 4:00am after trying to finish up some work. I was rudely awakened by a deafening sound which I realized was a fire alarm. Almost everyone was awake in crowding in the hallway when the front desk agent assured everyone it was a false alarm and got the code to turn it off. Annoying, but overall noise wasn't much of an issue otherwise.

I'd recommend staying here if you are in town a few nights.

We stayed there on the night of September 10 and everything was fine; our room was a good size & spotless, the mattress was comfortable, the desk staff were both pleasant, the (free) WiFi connection was fast, the continental breakfast was sufficient and the coffee was very good.

The hotel was just average.  The room was clean, the mattress was very firm, the bathroom was average.  In taking a shower, they DO need to put in bathtub mats, as it is very slippery when you get in.

The location of the hotel, and its drive-up, cannot get any more awkward.  It's not at all typical of any hotel, as you have to enter through the driveway entrance of a retail mattress store and then pass the mattress store's parking lot to get to the hotel.  (For that reason, Best Western must have been able to negotiate a favorable price on its property when it was purchased.)

The desk employee warmly welcomed us and they had complimentary chocolate chip cookies for arriving guests (the cooookies were warm, fresh, and delicious....made me want to pull up a chair right there at the desk and seek out a tall, cold glass of milk!). Ohhhh yeah!  They "got MY number!"

They will tell you that they offer a complimentary continental breakfast.  Well, the staff does not know the meaning of "continental."  NO WAY!!  (By doing so, they are really under-selling this very good FREE offer!). The breakfast is a full-on hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, croissants, toast, hot & cold cereal, coffee, orange juice, and hot chocolate.  My wife and I are not foodies, but this breakfast was good from the perspective that it was complimentary.

Considering the relatively high hotel rates in the San Jose area (for some entirely unknown reason!), this hotel rates were, I guess, "reasonable."

We needed a place to stay because of renovations.  I knew this was on Tully but still a tad hard to find.  You can't see it from the 101 unless you pass it up.  You have to get off on Tully heading east and take the very first light left.  Then go into the parking lot for Sleep Train, pass the stores and it's tucked into the corner.  If you do a U-turn, you'll not get in because there's no entrance from Tully.

You can only enter your room through the lobby as there are no entrances anywhere else.

Our room was clean and the bed was super comfy.  I got a very good night of sleep and didn't want to get out of bed to come to work.  But I feel rested and happy that the room was big, decent, and clean.

Complimentary Continental breakfast starts at 6:00 and I was able to grab a few things and take them in my purse like yogurt, banana, and a couple of muffins.

Pretty tired property. They are starting the process of making it modern and I am sure it will be beautiful again.

I love cheap deals, but I hate the dirtiness that often accompanies budget hotels. Thankfully, Best Western was a combination of both affordability and cleanliness.

Our room looked clean and well-made. When we slept, we didn't find any bed bugs. What more could you ask for? The bathroom conveniently had dispensers for soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. A mini-fridge, microwave, and large flat-screen TV furnished our room.

Their complimentary breakfast was your standard cheap breakfast food: fruit, oatmeal, small muffins, and bread slices. Hot foods included eggs, mini sausages, and potatoes, but the quality wasn't great.

The free wifi worked well enough for us to watch Netflix with a little lag every so often. If you're just browsing the internet, you shouldn't have any problems with the wifi. Be sure to ask the front desk for the wifi password when you check in.

The hotel is conveniently located right off the freeway on the Tully Road exit. Proximity to the freeway allowed us to travel to my half marathon event and other places easily. Fast food chains, a supermarket, a liquor store, and Chuck E. Cheese's were right across the street, but I recommend driving just 10-15 minutes away to enjoy the amazing food in Vietnam Town along Story Road.

If you ever need to stay overnight in San Jose, this Best Western was completely fine.

If you speak only English, GOOD LUCK dealing with the staff.

Really love all Best Westerns !
This one particularly is very quiet and I just love the lady at the front desk. She's an angel. Very helpful. Very nice !
If you're looking for something quiet and lowkey this is the perfect spot. The price isn't too bad for the quality you get.
    Great rooms
    Clean
    Quiet
    Mic/fridge
    Ac/iron
    Even the breakfast is good!
Now if you're a smoker you might have to accommodate but other than that it's 5 Stars to me.
Had a great time while I was in San Jose.
