Jeepers creepers! Weird folks come in there sometimes. Depending on the time of day. One time, this guy with an OCD on cleaning came in with his Fabreeze bottle and almost looked like he was down for a ... clean attack! But thankfully I had my coworkers at the time to protect me. (I've left) LoL Good customer service though. I can tell you that!

The manager Dave actually checks rooms himself and fixes problems.  Overall a great hotel!

When I booked my room I asked for 2 queen beds as it was my girlfriend and I. We were in town for 1 night for the P!NK Concert on 2/18/13. The room was a single bed and when I asked for another room they said it was all they had. I figured no big deal we could share. The first things we noticed the pool was not in service, the only juice station was not in service, the vending machine was not in service and the hallways were dirty. We went to our room and got ready for the concert. On the way back from the concert we notices that there is no front desk manager on duty after 11:00pm and a little sign said on site counter help m-f 8:00-11:00. As we entered our room we went to put some cold waters and juices in the fridge for the next morning and discovered the fridge didn't work and a nasty odder was coming from it. We went to wash our faces and shower and there was no soap or complementary shampoos. The next door neighbors were screaming and arguing so we called the operator to complain. It was then 1:30am. We called 3 times before anyone addressed it. Then the grounds people started using "blowers" at 7:30 in the morning. This is a hotel and we were woke up at 7:30 in the morning! The bed was horrible. I would have slept better in my car. The sheets were itchy and paper thin. We gave up and went for the complementary breakfast. NASTY!!!! The eggs were powdered and there was no cereal for the milk, no pancakes for the syrup or juice, fresh fruit that was edible. We ended up not eating and packing our things and leaving. Upon check out I asked to speak with a manager. It wasn't about the money or anything like that, I just wanted them to know we had a horrible experience. The manager instantly gave me attitude and said that obviously things are out of their control (this was when I said the pool was down, juice machine broke and neighbors noisy) She continued to be very rude. I have stayed at high end hotels and lower end motels and the Motel 6 would have been better. I will never stay at this hotel or a extended stay again. Horrible beds and horrible experience.

I am staying at the one in South San Jose (San Ignacio) and let me tell you.  DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!  Three times I have been woken up by: 1) some A**hole stinking up the NON SMOKING area with cigarette smoke  in the hallway.  2) VERY noisy neighbors across the way who have their TV loud and their voices louder AFTER 1am!  3) No one answering the phone after 11 pm to complain about the noise.  4) Idiots who are stinking up the hallway with smoke set off the fire alarm which s LLLLOOOOOUUUD, turns out they left a pan burning on the stove.  Pan of what...CRACK!??  Fire Engines on the scene and STILL these idiots are stying there!

I will be talking to the Manager today to complain about what's been going on.  I WILL ask for the money back (actually it's my business partners money) and spend i at the Residence Inn!

Oh also, being this is Silicon Valley....their "wi-fi" is as slow as dial up!  I called Tech Support 2 times and they say there's no way they can make it faster.
I even asked the lobby person before hand what kind of connection they have: T1, T5 and such...."I don't know" is all I get.  Talk about non- effective staff!

I'll never stay here again if I get my money back, and I sincerely suggest (I do understand, it's up to you) you don't spend this much money on an extended stay in this place.  I swear it's NOT worth it.

Despite clicking on the Deluxe Suite option on the website, I wound up with a regular room booked. (The website, interestingly, stated both rooms were the same price.) Just a mess.

My initial impression on opening the door to the room was instant disappointment. Despite booking a non-smoking room, someone had obviously smoked in the bathroom, and the entire apartment smelled like a mixture of smoke and vinegar.

What really shocked me was that the sheets on the bed had a huge, obvious hole in the center. Whoever the maid was that made the bed and prepared the room for the next guest must have seen it and not cared.

The mattress, sheets, and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Where do people find these rock-hard mattresses anyway? I've tried out every mattress in a Sit-N-Sleep and none of them came close to how terrible that one was. Better off sleeping on a carpeted floor.

After the first night, waking up with a nice headache from the smoke, we went to the front office and got our rooms changed. It was exactly the same as the old one, sans the smoke smell and torn sheets. The lamp shades were also a little less stained.

The kitchen is okay. It had a full-sized fridge, microwave, and an older-model electric stove.

The bathroom I'd rate as the best part of the apartment. The shower water temperature was good.

The air in the room was also very stale and musty, in both apartments.

The wireless internet they offer for $4.95 is awful. It cuts out periodically, and download speeds are typically 15 kilobytes/sec.

The first key we were given for our second room did not work properly.

The small TV near the bed was pretty unimpressive. Channel selection was typical; nothing great.

All in all, a pretty miserable experience. While I was at first excited to rent an apartment-esque room instead of a hotel room, the mustiness in the air combined with drab and ugly decorations just made me want to get out of there. We only used the room to sleep.

The night we left San Jose, Extended Stay filed for bankruptcy. Go figure.

The Extended Stay Deluxe is great. I felt like I was home the minute I walked into my accommodations. Actually, better than home - no distractions, no house hold to-do's... I was able to sit down at a well appointed desk; in front of the tv which allowed me to catch up on some of my favorite programs and provided a clutter free work space. This was really a treat.  I wished I was staying more than one night. I stayed over because I had a early am meeting and wanted to avoid the commute from the East Bay...avoiding traffic, enjoying some ME time AND getting work done. Priceless.

The next time I have to try a case in San Jose, I'm insisting on the Fairmont.  I've been down here twice to enter the gladitorial arena, and thus far, I've stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites (not comfortable and not suites) and the Extended Stay Deluxe (where I cut my stay short because it's not deluxe).

My trial partner had to switch rooms because of bedbugs.  My room air conditioner was only slightly louder than a jet engine.  The elevator is slower than climbing a rope up to your room.  The free breakfast reminds me of my time in the armed forces (and I've never even BEEN in the armed forces).  And the price ain't that great, either.

I guess the one star is for the ample parking lot.

Nothing "deluxe" about this place.  Left after one night.

The only good thing this hotel is good for is:

1) drinking yourself to death (ala Nick Cage); or

2) killing a hooker.

I had time to do neither, as I was in trial.  Thus, the two stars.

I will try to focus on the positive first.....

O.K.  Times up.

I suppose I saved on expense dollars for the Evil Telecommunications Giant I work for in finding a hotel in San Jose for less than a hundred bucks a night.

At first I thought I found my new home away from home in San Jose.  Nice staff, although they confused me with another group of people employed by Evil Telecommunications Giant.  This held up my check in for about 15 minutes.  Whatever.  Besides, the ladies at the front desk were cute.  So cute trumps confused hotel employees.  For 5 minutes.

As I made my way through the halls of the property, I became increasingly aware of the condition of this hotel.  Overflowing trash cans in the public areas, carpets in the hallways that hadn't been vacumnd in a while.  When I made it to my room, no pots and pans in the kitchentte, the dishwasher was filled with dirty dishes and the dishwasher was broken.  After a few nights in my bed, I felt something abrasive on the sheets.  Fortunately, there was clean sheets in the room and I changed out the sheets.  Seems the sheets on my bed had not seen soap and hot water for a while.  Ick.

Wifi is five bucks extra each day and the staff failed to mention upon check in that housekeeping is an extra daily fee also.

In conclusion, this obviously understaffed property has seen better days.  While the staff is very nice, ESD falls short in making up for the scary breakfast served in the mornings, the excessive amount of wait to use the gas grill by the pool in the evening and the overall condition of the hotel.  Spend a few bucks more every night and stay at the Homewood Suites down the street.

Average hotel room. I was overall happy with my stay. I booked the hotel, ESD Fremont Newark while working in SJ.
The location if right off the freeway so its very accessible but can be noisy at night. My bf came with so as I left with the car, it was in very walkable distances to restraints, shopping plastics stations.. Etc.
Because it was close to the hwy it was louder at especially since we stayed on the east side of the hotel.
Rooms were OK, they looked updated but somewhat remodeled. Kitchen was very useful. Bathrooms were very clean and good. Water temp was great. Beds were however uncomfortable, but clean.
Staff was great, they had my reservation ready when I had walked through the door. Very helpful when I had got ton lost also.
At 4.99$ for Internet it was OK. I didn't mind the small extra charge. I don't see why others are making a big deal out of it. Its a 1 time fee for your whole stay..
I booked my room bidding on price line for 40$/nightfong-meanwhile other websites had going rates for 80+$/night.  For the price I paid I was extremely happy. Although I was prepared for disappointment after reading all these negative reviews.. I would definitely come back!

Surprised by the negative reviews.  I booked at last minute via hotwire and got a great rate. ($69)  Could not have been more pleased.  The friendly desk clerk told me about the slow elevator and gave me a 1st floor room.  It was roomy, clean, and SWEET.  Was 2.5 stars on hotwire, and it exceeded my expectations.  Great service, great room, and very convenient location.  Free breakfast was pretty decent.  Easy check-in and check-out.  Nice looking pool.  Slept great.  Quiet and comfy.

Horrible place...Will never ever make reservations for this place ever.  Though the employees were professional and friendly.

We made reservations and believed that we were getting a Deluxe Hotel.  We were totally wrong.  The hallways had a horrible stench.  We tried to fight through that, until we saw a bunch of hair in the shower prior to us even using it.  We stayed one night and changed hotels after one night.  That was just a bad, bad, place.

Stayed here for a week while taking the California bar exam. Didn't notice any of the problems others reported. The room was clean and spacious, and the kitchenette was great--I bought groceries for the week and didn't have to go out. Dishes and utensils were already there, full-size fridge, two-burner stove, microwave, small sink and dishwasher.

Not much within walking distance--if you're traveling without a car and you don't like McDonald's or Denny's, you're taking the slow light rail to downtown San Jose. I went to get groceries for the week on the first day and didn't have to go back out, but it's not the best location for dining.

They had no problem when I needed to get packages delivered. Good customer service in general. Wifi was adequate. Fitness room was minimal--3 cardio machines, no weights. Complimentary breakfast was 3 kinds of cold cereal, fruit, and toast--okay but I would have liked more options. Overall I'd stay with this brand again--not suited for a trip where the hotel is part of a vacation experience, but as a temporary apartment it's totally fine.

The main reason I booked this hotel was the free shuttle service that is posted on their website. I got a ride to the airport on Wednesday, 4/24/2013, but was told when I flew in on Sunday, 4/28/2013 that the shuttle was only M-F. I then told the desk person that she could reimburse me for the cab fare, but she stated she was not authorized to make that decision.

I do not appreciate false advertising, or out-and-out lying

Watch out for MOUSE!

Not sure if I am just unlucky, the room was without TV (took them two days to fix, their night shift cannot do anything), night stand broken, night lamp doesn't work, knobs are missing, and the worse is there is a MOUSE sneaking around and yes again, night shift couldn't do anything about it except telling to move into a unprepared room. Not sure how they even get ISO certified.... Be ware!!

To be honest, the environment and furnishing really isn't that bad, but the unexpected and their ability and speed on handling are just ZERO ZERO ZERO!

Pretty bad experience for me when I tried to stay here.  Showed up at midnight to find out their front desk wasn't 24 hours... and this was after two super long work days with hardly any sleep in-between.  Finally got someone to help me, and he couldn't find my reservation.  Ended up at the front desk for almost 20 minutes before demanding the guy give me someone else's room.

Got to the room, and it's just blech.  Didn't feel clean, bed wasn't comfortable, etc.  Pass.

Never again. False advertising on airport shuttle. Booked with that option while at the airport only to find out it closed at 8pm after I booked the hotel at 10pm. When I got to the hotel, nobody was there. They left a note to dial 0 but they left the phone to answer at the front desk. 10 minutes later someone shows up. I tell him I had a reservation and he told me I didn't and was at the wrong hotel. He then ignores me to answer the phone and someone tells him the fire alarm was going off in his room. He told the person to call back during regular office hours??? He gets off the phone and I tell him the address I was told and then he agrees I'm at the right place. Then it takes him forever to copy down my information. I was under the impression through Priceline I booked 2 beds and now this man wants to increase the price from $68 to $154 for a 2nd bed. I am completely frustrated and tired. I finally make it to my room 45 minutes later exhausted. The room was surprisingly clean but the toilet didn't flush. I couldn't handle another second with the front desk so I never mentioned it. The next day I was told I would not be charged for the 2nd bed but I still couldn't bring myself to tell them the complete exhaustion they put me through the night before. Never ever ever again. So much for getting a good nights rest!

Just Don't do it!
I'm sure you want all of the details but let's just say, with all of the options in the area you can definitely find a mediocre hotel for cheaper. No pool, no ice, broken bathroom door, no extra blankets, no wake-up calls, Shuttle to the airport is only during limited hours (really? we have to call a cab?) towels are thin and the sink has a lovely moldy ring along the caulking. That is just the tip of the iceberg; please find another place.
Glad we are only crashing for one night and NEVER coming back!!!
(I added pricey for how little you get for $170)

I give this place zero stars.  My 3 year old son had to go potty...so we hopped off of the 101 first thing we see is this hotel. We pulled in quickly and I ran inside with him.  No one at the front desk so I looked around the lobby and saw nothing went to desk and said hello?  Guy came out and I asked where the restroom was he said there was none. I said my son has to use the restroom please he's 3 and about to have an accident. He said the only restrooms they have are in the rooms. Really?  I asked is there anyway he could please let us into a room so he doesn't have an accident. He told me to try the McDonald's down the street. OMG are you kidding?  My poor 3 year old had an accident in the lobby. Ridiculous he would not let a 3 year old use the potty. Horrible customer service!  I didn't catch the mans name at the front desk but I wish I would have now.

I will definitely give this place a ZERO!
Spotted BED BUG during my recent stay from Jun 8-Jun 12. I captured one bug on sheet and showed it to hotel managers. Hotel staffs refused to give me any help until pest control company confirmed there were bed bugs, 24 hours after I reported the bug issue. Actually their only help was providing some quarters so that I could use their wash machine to do laundry myself...

Hotel manager kept changing his words, different staffs passed me different information...just didn't know who could be trusted.

Rooms of this hotel are super DIRTY. Spotted ants on sheet and in sink, blood stain on tub, lots of debris in air condition. The sound of AC was like jet. Hallway, elevator and rooms are full of mixed odor of food.

This was my first stay at an extended stay america, which was a nightmare for me. I will never trust this brand again.

Awful! Absolutely awful! We checked in late, about midnight so we called earlier in the day to confirm that we had the 1st floor room we requested. Upon arrival there was no one at the desk. We had to go look for the attendant. Then after struggling through his broken English, we were told there were no more 1st floor rooms. He said "You take fourth floor, you like better". We dropped off our things and went to the floor to get food to cook in the kitchen. When returning to the room we discovered there were no dishes in the shelves or drawers. Not one fork! When I went downstairs the attendant told me I would have to pick out what I needed out of these plastic bins. That wasn't acceptable to me so I went back to the store and got plates, forks, & knives. When I got back to the hotel I noticed a very strong smell of weed when the elevator door opened. The smell was all the way up and down the hallway. It's 4:45am and I just got off the phone searching for another hotel. I already know what I'm going to encounter in the morning. I'm sure after what I've seen so far they will still charge me for the second night's stay. Frankly, I don't care. I just want out. Do not stay here. A $49 Motel 6 will be ten levels up from this place. If you do decide to stay here, just remember, You've been warned.

So at first I was wondering "why is this place just a two star?" The staff is not too helpful, the toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall, black long hair was found around the sink area in the bathroom... and the heated pool is a myth. Oh well for 84 bucks and a 100 deposit, what do I expect.

I travel for work and this was one of the few hotels I could find that weren't sold out and offered government price. Nothing great other than I was able to watch my show The Voice. Small towels. One of the wash clothe size towels were stained. No conditioner or lotion just a tiny bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap. Pulled back the covers to examine the bed and spotted a stain, thankfully there are 2 beds so I moved over to the cleaner one (I'm writing this from bed.) less than impressed and glad I'm only here for one night.

i would give 0 stars if possible.  Up at 2:30am writing this after the neighbor room was offering laugh noises.  I pounded on the wall and the people just pounded back.  My husband went to speak with the "neighbors" after calling the front desk.  NOTHING was done about it.  The halls stink. The quality of the guests was not very great.  Earlier in the evening there were also a group of young "adults" making a ton of noise going through the hall.

I was constantly having to blow my noise.  So something is not quite right in this place.

I wish I had checked out YELP before booking at hotels.com .  I am going to ask for a refund for this night fun and games.

I will indeed give zero star if I could! Worst hotel service we have ever had.
We stayed two days(both weekdays) with our 4months old baby. we checked in around 8pm and we got a room full of smell of weeds! They refused to change the room for us said they don't have any room available! It was weekdays and we can tell they are not telling the truth from the lights outside the buliding and half full packing lot! Moreover!! They didn't come to clean the room for our second night stay!!!

The only good thing I can say is it's clean (if you're not on the 4th floor).

First they put me in a smoking room on the 4th floor that smelled like an ashtray with body odor and a hint of urine. Had they not had another room I would have slept in my car if I couldn't find another place.

Microwave didn't work (turned on but no heat), said they would fix it but didn't. Refrigerator made loud noises all night, looks like it used to have an ice maker and they took it out, so it bangs. Had to unplug it. Mentioned it to the same front desk guy who said he'd get the microwave fixed. Guess what? Nada...

The entire hotel is loud, no soundproofing at all. Had to put earplugs in.

Breakfast is a joke; one little thing of potatoes and eggs that's gone and not refilled. Cereal, milk ok.

Internet is too slow to watch a movie without pauses unless you "upgrade." WTF? This is silicon valley for F's sake.

Shower water lukewarm, no stopper for the bathtub (not hot enough to take a decent bath anyway). Damn, a hot shower is one of the few respites of frequent traveling.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. I had to check out at 4:30 AM to catch an early flight. Typical at any hotel, right? No one at at the desk, with a sign "Be back in a minute." Yeah, right. I called "0" and got a sleepy voice, and said I need my receipt (which I do for my expense report). He kept saying "No problem sir, no problem." Then he didn't come. I called back, and this time he didn't pick it up. Fucker. So I left a note with my room number saying to email the receipt, with my email address. Guess what? No receipt. So I called at 3:00 PM. No answer, just rings and rings. Tried again. They don't pick up the phone.

They get away with it because the valley is booming. ***SHAME ON YOU EXTENDED STAY AMERICA.*** I'd complain to corporate, but your guess is as good as mine as to what will happen. Wanna bet NOTHING? !@#$%^&*()

pro - proximity to airport, relatively inexpensive, looks (emphasis on LOOKS) well appointed, gym has 1 treadmill, 1 eliptical, 1 recumbent bike, free wifi, room has basic cutlery as well as some basic plates etc

con - you can hear the water moving through the pipes and hear people walking upstairs
