First problem was that there was no restrooms where the lobby was! The price is ok for what u get I guess.. I had lots of errands to run before arriving so i was too tired to drive any further for any hotels... So I guess this is what I get! ;( there is a kitchenette with my room which is a good thing I guess.. If I was going to use it and if everything in here didnt smell like cooking oil! There is not separate room/wall to divide the kitchen from the bedroom so naturally your bedding and pillows will smell like cooking oil! ;(

My wife and I had to stay here for the better part of three weeks and I have to say that it was an extremely pleasant stay! Rebecca, the manager, was extremely helpful and was always willing to stop and talk to us. They were even really nice to our two loud dachshunds! While I will admit the neighborhood can get a little "interesting" if you go wandering after dark this is still a great place to stay with amazing service!

If their were 0 stars I would give this place 0 stars. The lady in the front was the most rudest customer ever. No bathrooms outside in the pool so if you need to use the bathroom go ahead and do whatever you have to do inside the pool!

Dirty and in need of repair. There was no mattress pad on my mattress, and my colleague found a bug in her sink. There are no common meeting areas or places to sit. Breakfast is a table with some packaged food on it.

I have never written a review on Yelp but I wanted to make it a point to do so. I stayed here for a business trip since my office was right across the street. However, I should have been willing to walk a mile for a good room. My visit was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. If I could give this rating 0 stars I would. It is not worthy of a star.
Let me sum up my visit. I arrived at 8:30pm on a Tuesday, I was greeting by a nice person and told how to get to my room. When going down the run down hallway I felt like I was in a sceen of the movie the Shining. Once in my room I realized that there was hair in the shower on the walls and in the drain. The floors were pergo(fake wood) and felt gritty like they had not been cleaned, there fore I NEVER took my shoes off at any point in time. Now for my bed... I pulled back the blankets and realized that there was hair in my bed and particles of stuff. The pillows had crusted snot and them.. pretty sure someone had slept in that bed recently and it had never been cleaned. Furthermore I could see a giant blood stain on the mattress under the crusty sheets. I immediately called the front desk. The nice man apologized and told me I could come down and get new sheets. WAIT WHAT?!? I have to re-make my own bed?? Yep sure did. I got the new sheets I layered the clean sheets on the bed. I opted for no pillow since I am pretty sure everything was filled with bed bugs although no proof. I turned the heat up in the room since it was cold, I slept with all of my clothes on, socks included and no sheets/blankets or pillow. I used a towl in the bathroom as a pillow since that was the only thing that seemed clean. The remote to the TV had flaky crusty stuff on it and the leather chair looked as if it had dandruff on it. The walls were thin, I could hear everything.

I would have loved to have left the hotel but I had no where else to go at 9:00pm at night and I had a business meeting at 7:30am the next morning. I was stuck! I was offered a smoking room but no only am I a non-smoker I cant imgaine that room would have been any better.

I am on the phone with corporate as I write this and I will be asking for a full refund. It cost $199 to stay there for one night and was not worth any more than about $1 for the roof over my head.

DO NOT stay here!!!!!!

UGH THE REDHEAD MANAGER HERE!!! She is sooooo terrible!!

I had booked a one night stay here where I was moving over from one of the Extended Stays Milpitas locations so I had requested an early check in.

They let me do a late check out at the Milpitas location but came to my room around 12:15 and said they needed to start cleaning so I left. I called San Jose location when I got in my car and asked about how long til a room was ready - they start coming around at about 8 or 9 am at Extended Stays mind you. She said not yet, closer to 2 I should call back. So I told her my situation how I was coming from a different chain of their hotel and didn't wanna have to sit out in my car in the heat for very long.. She didn't seem to care though. I drove there and just waited in the parking lot til about 2. I went in and asked, the girl checking people in said no it wasn't ready, but when I literally asked if it would magically just be ready at exactly 3pm she said yes -___-

So I went up to the second floor to see where the maid was and she was at the end of the hall where the elevators are MEANING SHE HAD FINISHED THE ENTIRE HALLWAY. So I went back down and sat there awkwardly to make them uncomfortable. It worked because around 2:45 I guess she decided to let me go up and started my registration.
She decided to make a smart ass comment to me about honoring my early check in, looked at the clock an let me know the time was 2:55 or something like that - HAHAHAHA are you serious ?! FIVE MIN EARLY AFTER THEY MADE ME SIT IN MY CAR FOR HOURS. I'm not the customer to make comments like that too honey - I said something so the manager came over and finished checking me in because the rude girl couldn't handle it.
I exchanged some words with the red headed manager I mentioned above too but for the most part she did her job of being fake to me so I wouldn't absolutely lost my temper.

At this point you may not understand why I'm leaving this but the next day I came down in the morning around 10 am and needed to extend my stay one more night.
As I was paying, the redhead manager was there taking my money and a new employee, a younger gentleman that seemed new, was on the phone with a customer asking about EARLY CHECK IN. So he looked to his redheaded manager as she's still helping me and asks her if they can honor early check ins for people.. What do you think she told him??? SHE SAID YES!!!! Right in front of me!!! After all the bs from the day before!!!!! I WAS LIVID and of course called her out too. She still stuck with her story that MY room just so happened to be the only one that wasn't ready early still - yeah whatever.

I've been a manager before - in this situation I personally would have told my new employee "no" to answer his question, if I was in front of a customer I had an issue with just the day before over the same request, he could have called them back and corrected himself or even just waited til I left to answer! She is so rude!!! I walked out on her and she then proceeded to tell my friend that she could get us in trouble because "she knows what's up" - whatever that means. She sucks as a manager to be completely honest, doesn't know how to make situations better for her company AT ALL.

Biggest issue, the neighborhood. The ez 8 next door has hookers complete with pimp working at all hours. Feels unsafe anywhere outside except near the lobby. My room wasn't good but could have been worse, no blood or hair like other reviews.  I would advise going anywhere else (except for the ez 8) unless your room is extremely cheap.

This place doesn't even deserve no stars... stay here if you want to get kicked out by a white screaming/angry GENERAL MANAGER...accused of doing illegal activity when I was in my room the whole night alone..
I then agreed to leave with a full refund.. even then I still got the cops called on me for what im still in mystery...

GENERAL MANAGER was very unprofessional. Good luck Future Extended Stay Customers...

This property is a little run down and the service is poor. Our bathroom at dirt and hair on the floor when we checked in. It was also very run down (rust, cracks etc). The kitchen had absolutely no pots, pans, cutlery etc. There was a note saying that they will deliver kitchen items to the room upon request. So I went to the reception and requested that kitchen items be delivered to my room. This was at 8am. I came back to the room at 6pm, and the kitchen items were not delivered. I had to request them a second time, and then I got them. The reception staff are not the friendliest to deal with. I'd avoid staying here.

So we're not sure what's with the bad reviews. I'm a flight attendant and I live in hotels. My gf and I were looking for a cheap hotel for one night since we were going to the garlic festival. We paid $89 on hotels.com and were super nervous...until we checked in.
So the parking lot had only nice cars in it. 15 or so, and we're like, awesome. Middle class peeps. No scary cars. We walked in, there's not really a lobby, just a counter. We were told that we had been upgraded from a queen to a king. Sweet!
We checked in, no problems, no shady people. We rode the elevator and got off on third floor. The halls were clean, and better than we expected. We got to our room and were pleasantly surprised. The room is clean, bedding clean (i sprayed for bed bugs just Cuz of the reviews). We brought our own bedding and towels because of the awful reviews, but didnt use them because it was so clean. Bathroom was clean, but not amazing, and the kitchenette was cute, though when I peeked in the cupboard the doors almost fell off. The tv is smallish, but flat screen. We opted for a smoking room because it was cheaper, and when we first walked in we could smell it, but after about five minutes it was gone, and we never noticed it, even if we left and came back.
I was nervous about leaving our things in the room, but the staff was really nice and the guests we saw were all couples our age. No worries.
We got a corner room overlooking 1st street. It was so quiet, especially for a Friday night.
We were a little worried about the prostitute hotel next door after reading the reviews. Yes, it looks super sketchy, but it's gated, theyre not connected, the parking lot isn't shared, honestly we wouldn't have noticed it except for the reviews.
We did see two prostitutes coming out of that hotel when we came back from dinner, which we thought was hilarious, but hey, do your thing, just not near us!
Breakfast...sucked. a few packs of oatmeal, coffee, orange or apple, nature valley bar, half a muffin. They ran out of everything and we had to wait to restock. Not worth waiting for, btw. I was under the impression that it was a Continental breakfast. But, it was still something.
We called for a late check out, and it wasn't a problem at all.
Would we stay here again? If the price was good and if it was a short visit, yes. Would I recommend it? If it's priced under $100, definitely.

Ok, I rarely write bad reviews, and always try to find something positive about each place I stay, and restaurant I venture into, but seriously, FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE.

This place had roaches in the bathroom, ants near the commons area where breakfast is served, and seemed understaffed. The staff were helpful and did quickly move me into a nicer room when I pointed out the critters, and when the fuse blew in the bathroom leaving me in the dark. But how can you expect guests to pay to stay in rooms with critters? Not cool. I would comment on the decor, but I think having the insects says enough.

Location is good. Close to the freeway and airport. That's where the good about this hotel ends. The rooms smell weird and are very dark even with the window open and lights on. Everything about the room is small: room itself, kitchenette, bed. It's pet friendly but there is no place to walk your dogs- no grass really. Some shady looking characters hang around the front of this place as well.  The air conditioner is ridiculously loud, yet you need it because the room gets stuffy quickly. We had originally booked for two for weeks, but only stayed three days and ended up going somewhere else.

Look we book it even after reading the reviews and laughed and thought these people dont really stay,in hotels with what they were complaining about.... read the review below more accurate. It was ok stay. Did what we needed it to do, was clean and quiet and the right price.
As far as the other reviews... I know these people dont really stay in hotels a lot..., pools especially downtown dont have bathrooms, nor do small lobbys (or just a desk for check in like here) ooo and that girl that got kicked out probably did something. This is an extended stay... bring ur own soap and bath stuff!!! yes there was a bar of hotel soap and a little shampoo/conditioner but seriously what girl doesnt bring a whole bunch of bathroom stuff!! Come on!
So in all reality it was decent stay. Breakfast ... oatmeal, coffee, apple, small muffins... not.much but it was there.
Just a quick.night stay at the right price.

We stayed here for one night in the middle of a road trip. The hotel was easy to find off of the freeway and appeared clean from the outside. The location was perfect as far being close to downtown. The manager checked us in and was very pleasant. However, the location of the hotel seemed to cater to the local thugs, who were in and out of the property all night as well as prostitutes who were pulling over patrons in the parking lot. The room smelled old and although it had a full kitchen, it did not provide any plates or utensils. The hotel did not provide any lotions, shampoo, or conditioner as most do (thankfully I travel with my own) and the wifi would not connect to any of our mobile devices.

Although the hotel was clean, if I were planning to stay in the same area again, I would look for another hotel. I sold rate this hotel a 2.5, not a 3.5 as the review provided when I booked the hotel.

I stayed at this ESA over a month, and during my stay I couldn't found 1 of the 2 BB cream that I purchased from Peter Thomas Roth. I was moving to an apartment so I thought maybe I put it somewhere and I forgot? After I moved, I did a more thorough search for my BB cream and it is nowhere to find. Now I'm certain that it was indeed stolen when I was at ESA. I decided to let it go since I've already moved out. But then this morning I finally used up my old cc cream and I was excited to try the new PTR bb cream, when I opened the package then I realize it's already been opened. There's only half tube of it left! This is the last draw! I will never stay at this fingersmith hotel ever again!

I don't know why this hotel has such a poor review. I have been so thrilled with this hotel and this chain of hotels, specifically Rebecca. If you find yourself in San Jose or planning to visit San Jose, then you need to stay here and work with Rebecca to get your reservations. She is amazing, she will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with everything and enjoying your stay.

She is the epitome of good customer service and hospitality and I can't imagine she will be in her role long because employees of her caliber should not go long with out being promoted! But for my sake, so that I may continue working with her and booking rooms through her, I hope she never leaves! (Okay but seriously Extended Stay, Promote her.) I am pretty sure she is probably improving their business everyday just with her dedication alone.

I am so thankful for her everyday, as I find myself working with ESHotels pretty often and Rebecca makes my life a thousand times easier!

First and last time I'm ever staying at an Extended Stay.  We needed a room for one more night last minute, so I booked this room in haste without really checking out the details.  This location used to be called a different name, so there were no reviews of it as an Extended Stay hotel.  We heard the commercials on the radio, kitchenette, full size fridge, free wifi, etc, etc, and we found a rate online for $70 for a queen, and $80 for a king.  I went ahead and tried to book the king, and it wouldn't let me.  So I had to refresh, and by that time the rate had gone up to $85.  Ok fine, what's $5.

We go to check in, and it's not even really in the Downtown area, but the shady part near downtown.  The outside looks ok though.  I suppose it's newly renovated on the outside bc of the name change.  When we go to check in, the front desk guy says, Ok a queen room? So they tried to get us for an extra $5 at the reservation, then tried to give us a queen when we booked a king? I reminded him it was a king, so then he did in fact give us a king.

We get into the room and this is what we see. yelp.com/biz_photos/exte… Hopelessly outdated and cheap kitchenette.  And there is a full size fridge, but there isn't an ice maker, but there are ice trays with ice already in there, made by who knows, with who knows what else in there besides water?  I think I'll pass. yelp.com/biz_photos/exte…  Go down the street to the gas station and buy a bag of ice and keep it in the freezer.

The sleeping area doesn't look as outdated as the kitchenette, but the bed was one of the worst I have ever slept in. yelp.com/biz_photos/exte…  So freaking squeaky!  Poly fiberfill pillows.  Scratchy bedding.  I know it was less than a $100 a night, but come on.  If this room had been $50 or 60 I wouldn't really complain.

I stayed here for business. HUGE MISTAKE.

They asked if I wanted soap and shampoo during check in because it wasn't in the rooms?!? They also gave my credit card and license to the other guest checking in at the same time. The walls were warn, the fridge rattled incessantly all night long, the towels and Kleenex were like sandpaper. The room was dingy and dirty. The bed didn't have a mattress pad, the deadbolt on the door didn't work. Waiting in the lobby for a coworker a prostitute living at the hotel walked past us to get to work at the hotel next door. The hotel next door is apparently where the prostitutes work in San Jose and her pimp was yelling at her to hurry up. Surprisingly this wasn't the worst part of the staying there. The worst part was having a fire in a room on the 2nd floor, which resulted in the fire alarm blaring at 9 pm at night, and the fire department showing up to air the place out. The person at the front desk smiled at all of the guests shuffling outside like this was a common occurrence and said nothing...No apologies not a word, and when this person went to shut off the alarm he seemed to reset it at a more rapid pace. This place was sleazy and disreputable, I will not return. EVER.

Clean, well-located with many dining options down First St. and in the Qualcomm complex across the street and up a ways. However, the hallways are un-air-conditioned, and the wireless is lousy. Upgrading to higher-speed wireless does nothing, and you have to call support to get the packet-switching corrected. The wireless is hosted in San Francisco--sixty miles north. The first time I called free support, they fixed it fairly quickly--second time, they had tinker and call back some minutes later. Not worth it--for the prices ESA charges, they should be able to offer seamless wireless to guests.

Good places to eat The Spice Hut (Indian), and Ladda Thai Cuisine--both excellent.

Nice room on Valentine's weekend. Kitchen, king bed, couch and the only problems were being solicited (I'm not a hooker. ..) twice, no one at desk twice, and 2 burns (?) In the carpet. 2 is the number here I guess. I understood there was a rave nearby and so that explained some questionable people. Saw security in the parking lot after 10 and slept well. Breakfast wasn't too awesome but hey fruit and coffee is better than nothing. Not too far from I hop and downtown.

We stayed here for a night while in San Jose and it was pretty decent.  The room is not super swanky, but has all the amenities and doesn't look like a dirty motel- which is a good thing.  The room came complete with kitchen and extra fold out bed (which was really lumpy lol) The grab and go breakfast was not bad.  I liked it.  We requested some extra blankets and pillows and it was brought up right away- which was great.  

My only complaints were really out of their control, for example, the parking lot and surrounded area generally smells pretty bad!  And in the middle of the night, drunk guests arriving were talking loudly in the parking lot and woke me up.  Other than that, what you get here is fair pricing for decent accomodations, and friendly service.

This hotel works but will not stay here again. The front desk check in person was not very welcoming. My bed was ok. Def not the worst bed. The mini kitchen was not very well stocked. I mean. How come I have to ask for utensils? There were also loose floor tiles leading up to the room. If you can stay somewhere else.

Be aware, staff steeling stuff from the room.

I've staid in this place for 2 month as my employer book it for me.

Once i came back after work and appeared the my new phone in the box, which was delivered recently disappeared after the room service "cleaned" the room:( very disappointing.

They didn't call cops, as no evidence of breaking. Insurance of the hotel send  me check for 250$ in 2 month, anyway this is 3 times less then the price of the phone...

Room service is poor, bathroom wasn't clean, insects, smell in the room like somebody was smoking for a years before me in this non-smoking room.

No security, anyone can enter the hotel any time...

Had a problem on check out, they charged me 600$ more then needed, but local manager could not resolve the issue, was very busy with something else, so I had to call the branch manager to claim and get refund...

I stayed here for business recently, because my usual hotels near the office were booked. This property is a little off the beaten path, compared to the "nicer" options in the area, but I found it to have friendly staff at the front desk, and a clean room. The bathroom was clearly renovated not too long ago, but a little rough around the edges (i.e. a little grime in nooks and crannies, and a spider decided to say hello to me in the shower!), and the shower was very slow to drain.

* Location, and lack of food options within easy walking distance. There is a Denny's and a 7-11 down the street if I recall correctly. Some small restaurants beyond that.
* The door slam factor in this hotel seemed to be a little worse than a typical hotel.
* The wireless internet was almost unusable. Unacceptable for business guests.

Overall, a no-frills kind of place, and some better dining options near the hotel would be a real improvement. The wifi needs improved bandwidth too.
