Yeah, I'm never staying here again. It was overpriced and I was double charged. Part of the payment was made in cash and the rest, on my card. The doofus at the front desk made a mistake, explaining that he accidentally put the entire payment on my card. He said he fixed it and it wouldn't show up on my account. I checked my statement a week later and found that I was double charged. I came in personally with my statement, but by that time the peeps in accounting had already left for the day. Okay, that's fine, so I just left my statement and number with the lady at the front desk. She assured me it'd be taken care of and that she'd call me Monday or Tuesday (I came in on a Friday). I didn't get a call on either day, so I decided to give them a ring. The gentleman at the front desk said that only that lady can help me. I believe I finally got a call the next day... after she was prompted, of course. Unprofessional.

An older but renovated hotel, nothing like the HIE chain I once assumed was standard. Breakfast area had 2 small tables in a space not large enough to stand if someone else happens to be eating.  Lousy location, disappointing hotel.  I've accumulated many frequent stayer points using this chain, but have recently started noticing some older and seedier hotels in the lineup.  This is definitely one of those...

this place doesn't know what hospitality is about. You never say no to a guest. They have poor service and they seem like they don't know what the hell there doing. Location sucks. There is No kind of view and not too far is the cemetery.  The employees are worthless and STUPID!!! I can't believe this is a Holiday Inn. What a DISGRACE to there name.

We have an extenuating circumstance that makes my husband and I have to cancel our trip. The hotel manager said we can cancel the trip if it is medical reason.(through third agency) When we call back with our reason, they reject to give us any refund doesn't matter what circumstances we have!! They did't even try to listen to us! (through third agency)

It's a motel.

This is not a hotel. This is a motel. The website lies to you. The desk clerk lies to you. All to deceive you into staying here.

This is a motel. This is a motel.

We stayed here over the memorial day. The price is reasonable for double beds. The room is clean and good. Park in the front of your room. Our family enjoyed the wonderful breakfast there. It had everything as you need. You got the wi-fi connection. I'd love to stay in this hotel again if I get a chance to visit SJ again.

This hotel is very convienent to downtown San Jose without the downtown price... clean, and good breakfast.  Very friendly staff.  Not 5 star hotel for sure, but comfortable and clean. Like it was mentioned before it is motel style, but that made my car very convienent to get to.  The area of town is a bit shady, but we felt safe there.  It is directly across from a graveyard, which I thought was kind of funny.  The pool was under renovation which was a let-down at first, but ended up working out fine because we had enough to do.  After actually looking at the pool I thought that we probably wouldn't have used it anyway because of the size... it was TINY!  Overall, great location to all of the freeways and downtown.  We would stay here again.

Stay here for business.

This is a business oriented hotel, and chain for that matter. If your looking for amazing service and all the looks of more traditional hotel, stay at the Embassy suites or something. This place is for business travelers looking for a place to lay their heads and then get up and go in the morning. There is no scenery cause your on Monterey Road, a thoroughfare for business. your close to the 101 and the 87. 101 takes you to the 280, 680, 880. The 87 takes you Downtown and to the Airport. As a business traveler what else do you want.

All in all I recommend this place to business travelers who are looking for a place to rest, replenish and maybe catch up with some emails before another day on the road.

Very nice place to stay the night. Very very clean, comfy bed, and quiet. Had a great free breakfest. Lots of TV channels!!! Close to great resturants. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is I thought it was a little over priced for the area. But a great place to kick it for a nite!!!

This was the closest / safest place to stay near my brothers and we were impressed with how clean it was. Beds very comfortable and breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. Price was higher than what we wanted to pay, but it served its purpose and we felt plenty safe there as well as good lighting and cameras in the parking area. I'd easily stay again .

So Holiday Inn Express locations are usually a good point.  I've stayed at several before and haven't had any issues.  However, this one, as others have stated, is a motel not a hotel.  It's clearly a renovated location, all of the doors open to the outside.  You can can the other rooms around you, including above or people walking outside.

It was, overall, clean, just dated.  Wi-Fi access is slow and not covered, I had to hold my device in the air to get 2 bars, my coworker was covered just fine.  It is close to a wide variety of food and shopping, that was really the only plus.

WARNING: This hotel is run by a ruthless and uncaring manager. My 20 y.o. son made a reservation. They turned him away and cancelled his room at 9 pm when he arrived because he was under 21. He had to sit in his car and try to find a hotel at night in downtown San Jose. The manager had no sympathy. Her response was "it's policy and it's on our website".  She's the most uncaring, rude person. Don't stay here.

Look, yes it is a renovated motel. My room was awesome, tv was great and wifi worked without problems. Sure your can hear some noises, but it is lodging for the night. I've stayed in far more expensive hotels that were just as loud. Yelp dining shows 200 choices within 2 mile radius. It's a place to sleep and not a fancy resort. Some previous guests have thrown this place under the bus. If u need a place to sleep, don't pass this place up. The staff was great!

Pretty darn clean and quiet, lots of vacancy during holiday weekend . MLK. Amenities were great, wifi and lots of channels on TV. Call to check out.... What else... It's close to everything yet away from that Tully traffic.

This is definitely not a hotel but a motel with  doors that open directly into the parking lot, this is a little deceiving since it is a Holiday Inn Express and most of the time have a lobby and hallways that lead to your rooms.  First the positives:
1) Close Proximity to a wide range of dining options just up the road with almost every option including Panera, Five Guys, Subway, Johnny Garlics, Applebee's, Famous Dave's BBQ, and Which Wich Sandwich Shop.
2) Centrally located in San Jose for the business traveler and fairly easy to get to.
3) Clean rooms and pretty comfortable beds with a mini-fridge and microwave in the room.
4) Small fitness center and small swimming pool if you're into that kind of stuff.
5) DirecTV with a ton of channels!

Now the negatives:
1) Overpriced for the quality of motel this location is; just because its San Jose doesn't justify nearly $200/night.
2) Noise!  You can hear Monterey Road Traffic, Airplanes overhead, and every noise your neighbors make or those walking outside your door.
3) Customer Service is subpar at best, don't expect any form of courtesy by the front desk staff!
4) Internet access is terrible and the signal is very weak and unreliable.  Don't plan to get any work done or web surfing!
5) TV didn't work half of the time and this place made no effort to fix the problem after I reported it to the front desk!  I literally think the only staff at night is the employee checking people in!
6) Somewhat shady looking people walking up the roads nearby, not a bad neighborhood in a sense but some bad folks nearby!

I don't think I would return as there are many options nearby that are more worth the cost of the room, this location should really charge about $50 less per night!  I travel for business a lot and am pretty picky about where to crash!

I was working in San Jose last week so I stayed here.

The Good:
* It feels new and is very clean. Even the elevator is bright and clean.
* My room and bed were comfortable and quiet and the AC worked well.
* WiFi is speedy
* Good pillows
* Friendly service

The Bad:
* BREAKFAST......Seriously?! I had to be up at 6am so I was counting on a decent breakfast.  Whatever they had in the "Raisin Bran" was NOT Raisin Bran. The toaster was broken and only toasted one side of the bread. I finally gave up and decided to just have a glass of OJ. Instead, I got almost clear, completely watered down, mystery liquid. I settled for Apple Juice, and it was fine. For $230, you would think that I could at LEAST get a glass of OJ.

Bottom line, I'd stay there again but I'll plan on eating breakfast elsewhere.

Was scared when I saw that is was more if a motel the hotel, but for one night we would give it a try. The rooms were clean and the desk help was also good. It was a little noise but I fell asleep with no problem. The was also a good spread for breakfast.

I cannot believe Holiday Inn has the nerve to even associate their name with this run down flop house! It is little more than a motel!

First of all, it is in a frightening side of town. I booked this room for a colleague that was coming in from out of town with his wife without ever seeing the hotel. He was to work at the office all day and she was to hang out at the hotel with the hopes she could wander in the area while he was working. She was terrified to be left alone there and I don't blame her. It is located in a very shady area of town. She didn't want to leave her room! Also, when he arrived at the hotel he was booked at for a week, he asked if he could get out of the stay and the attendant at the counter told him NO! He was committed to the full week! Not to mention the beds are hard as rocks, the walls are thin and you don't even want to open the curtains because the outside is horrible. TRAVELERS BEWARE!

I travel a lot and stayed at many different Holiday Inn Express Hotels.  This by far has been the worst one I have been to.

First, the mattress was not very good. Most have nice pillow tops, but not this one.

Second was the breakfast.  Everything was old and dried out.  The cinnamon rolls were hard.  And I mention it to the breakfast attendant, she told me that I was just a complainer and that I should leave. She started to yell at me, so I left.

Finally, the walls were very thin.  I heard the man in the room next to me snoring all night long.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 it is because the manager called my room and apologized for the breakfast fiasco.

The Bad:

Loud - Room 109, you can hear the plumbing for what seems like all of San Jose when someone flushes a toilet or showers, not to mention airplanes and the parking lot. Literally heard two cats fighting outside my door at 3a. You can't make this shit up.

Bed felt like sleeping on a stack of saltine crackers.

Jacuzzi in-suite is great for banging hookers from the nearby skank-strip.  Disgusting.

Fridge sounded like an '84 fiat. Had to unplug.

The Good:

Iron worked.

Toilet could suck your eyeballs out of your butthole.

I wasn't murdered.

FINAL VERDICT: Steer-clear of this cum-dumpster.  I'd rather sleep in my car.

From the moment you arrive, you will ask yourself how far away is downtown San Jose? And, am I in the ghetto? Yes you are! This place gets 2 stars for the service of the staff as they are friendly, kind and attentive. But that is the highlight of this place. It looks like an old motel, somehow signed a contract with holiday Inn, and got the exposure not deserved. From old 15+ year old carpets, upholstery, furniture and walls, this place is not worth the $200+ a night. Spend the extra $50 and go closer to SAP Center or downtown. Or north!

The walls are thin, you can hear your neighbors. The bed is not comfy and the pillows... well they work. The couches pull out into beds, i would not trust them though. All in all, great hospitality but not a great, good, or nice place to stay.

We got a great deal that included Winchester Mystery House tickets. I loved our clean room and the customer service is outstanding here.
We joined the HIE club and had a welcome basket and bottles of water waiting in our room. I love that HIE always seems to have our room ready for check in no matter time we arrive. They have a huge breakfast selection and it was really good, too.
The only thing that we didn't care for was the set up. It's like a motel. Every door faces the parking lot. We had a problem with noisy people from 10pm-12am until I had had it and went out there and yelled at them. But, all in all we like this hotel and would stay here again. Free Wi-fi, too.
