This place stank!  Plus I was told by the attendant that it would be quite where I was going to be staying at.  The room turned out to be noisy from the neighbors.  Plus the room needed air freshner!  What a rip-off for $71 bucks!

I booked this place for my girlfriend's mom, for three days during the Thanksgiving holiday. Luckily, I came upon this place by looking at the original Yelp review and they happened to have one room available.

The Horizon Inn is not that fancy, but it's not bad. The bathroom door had a hole in it like someone punched got mad and punched the door. The people operating the Horizon Inn were very friendly, offering to switch rooms the next day, but the room was so clean and she declined the offer. The furniture is older, but not in bad condition. The room contained a TV and a small fridge. As I mentioned previously, it's not fancy, but they said they would be renovating mid to late 2008. Hopefully, without a big price increase. The place was clean, the Indian family staff was very nice, and the price was great. The price is in the $70's, a great price.

Only complaint that my mother's girlfriend had is that the occasional loud Spanish music that would be playing briefly as the residents left and arrived. Although, that is common place in all hotels in that area, it's on the border of the East side after all. The onsite restaurant was not open but they had coffee and pastries, which is standard. Overall, this place is standard, not bad, and a good value.

Reserved a room for a quick get away with the little lady. I got to the room before my girlfriend and I'm glad I did. There was old soap and shampoo that the maid had left in the bathroom, a muddy footprint on the floor and a pubic hair in the bathtub. After I cleaned up the room it was ready to go but should you really have to clean your own room? I also reserved a deluxe king bed and was given a double queen. I asked the guy behind the desk why was I able to reserve a room with a deluxe bed if they didn't have any available. He didn't really have an answer. The price for the room was one of the cheapest in the area.... I guess you get what you pay for.

Noisiest motel ever!  There is a contest between the a/c and the fridge for noisiest in room appliance. Add that to the fire tucks, police sirens, and general traffic noise and you've got a relaxing getaway. And I wear earplugs!  Continental breakfast is Danishes and coffee in the "lobby". Homeless people abound in this area so u have to be worried about your car as well. Bad experience all around.

I was looking for a place that was cheaper than $420/ week (Motel 6) and this place does a deal $350 for 7 days and you get a continental breakfast and free high speed internet. Well, I went to physically reserve a room for my fiance and I and saw that the only spaces available for parking were handicapped and it was in a horrible part of town. When you see bars on all the windows of near by buildings that's a sign for high crime.

On top of that, the rate is so low because construction companies that come into town for jobs and rent the WHOLE hotel. Very hard to get a reservation.

The worst place to stay, do not waste your time here. You essentially receive worse than what you intended to pay for. Management from Sam is terrible, just stay away from this place.

The best deal in town, I almost hate to let others know, but I like this place and I want them to continue to do well. It is off the beaten path in a place I would not expect to find a hotel, but it is close to Starbucks, shopping (The Great Mall) and lots of restaurants. The rooms are freshly updated with modern decor and  Upen at the front desk is very accommodating and always makes sure I get a great, clean room and that there are pastries and fresh coffee in the office every morning. I would definitely stay here. Tell him James sent you!

"OH my god!" was what I said to my companion upon entering our King non-smoking guest room at the Horizon Inn. It looks SO much nicer than the photos on their website!

We booked through Priceline's name-your-own-price feature and, if you're not familiar, you prepay your selected price and then are stuck with what they give you. No takesies-backsies. This was our second time using the service and were.. accepting.. but not pleased with our result, Horizon Inn, after checking out the website and reviews.

The Indian guy at the desk was very friendly checking us in and he told me we were in a remodeled room (note: not all of the rooms may look like ours) and I said oh ok, thanks, brushing him off.
We opened the door and were shocked by the updated decor. It doesn't look at all like a standard cheap motel! Beautiful purple and beige color-scheme, hardwood floors, updated counter-tops, and even a flat screen TV!
The bed was clean and comfortable (no bedbugs, we checked) with crisp white sheets. I like that their pillows aren't like many hotel pillows, where your head sinks down to the mattress when you lay down. These were fluffier with more support.
The room also came with free wireless, a fridge, and a microwave but we didn't use any of these. The desk clerk didn't mention a breakfast but we had planned on going elsewhere anyway.

    Drawbacks:
The room may look great but let's not forget we're in a 2 star motel lol.. It can't be ALL purple walls and wood floors.
The bottom of the shower/bathtub looked like it might not have been cleaned thoroughly, however I was honestly impressed that this was the only unclean thing in the room.
The biggest problem with the motel is inconsiderate guests/neighbors and noise from Oakland Road, which is several lanes wide and more like an "Expressway" than a "Road." There is a taqueria directly next door (almost attached) and their patrons seem to pay no mind to the fact that they are in a hotel parking lot.
The sounds from traffic aren't extreme but a few times through the night we caught the loud whoosh of a large truck passing by. Definitely bring earplugs if you're sensitive to night noise.

Overall, it's a surprisingly nice room for the price you pay! A great deal if you're sleeping on a budget ;)

    Definitely remodeled.

I stayed in two different rooms and was surprised to see a nice new color scheme, brand new LCD TV with DirectTV, fancy pillows and ART hanging on the wall. I'll post photos. Of course this is a remodel not a complete demo and rebuild so you can tell where there used to be old stuff. But overall it was clean and comfortable. The AC worked well and is hooked up to a new digital thermostat that's easy to use.

You know what, if you want a cheap hotel, you could do a lot worse. Our room was renovated and surprisingly modern. The bed was comfortable. Everything was clean.

The place looks really dodgy from the road, slightly dodgy from the parking lot, but quite decent once you're in the room. You know you're not in an expensive place, but that's inevitable at this price point, you know?

For my budget, I could have gotten a room that was a lot dirtier and uglier than this place. Was looking for a place after a night in the city so I could avoid the loudness at home in the morning, but also still wanted to be nearby home bc I hate driving being lost. It was between this place and several others I was comparing, but with the PATIENCE of the Indian front desk guy with BLUE eyes who loves me (Loraine?), and yes that's pure sarcasm what with all my questions I had, I decided upon this place.

Talk about renovating! Sad to say, this place was decorated nicer than my own home. Painted walls to match with the bedsheets, new hardwood floor, art on the walls, fancy pillows and crap! It was nice, quite the bang for the buck I got! Though the exterior of the place looks like a ghetto motel area, the inside made you feel real snug.

On Oakland road, "Horizon Inn" is not listed, it's some new other name I think they're trying to go by. I don't know. But just look at the pics and you'll find the place with no problem.

Yes sheets seemed clean, but HOUSEKEEPING needs to step it up. I was a bit upset we could hear her upstairs walking and cleaning every morning. Booked this place to avoid the loudness at home after all. If you're a light sleeper perhaps you can ask for a 2nd floor room. Another issue with housekeeping, she knocked on our door at 9am one out of the two days. I was too damn sleepy to say anything, so she came in anyway!! She left, but still shouldn't there be some organization between housekeeping and management that lets her know who is checked in? I'm not familiar with hotels and whatnot..but that was annoying. Oh AND upon checking into our room there was left over Panda Express in our microwave.

Anyway, you get what you pay for and FOR THE PRICE, you get a nice place. Free wifi, random taqueria in the same parking lot, clean sheets, fancy TISSUE BOX, heater, flat screen TV, desk, etc. Indian blue eyed guy could have been a lot douchier to me because I was SO annoying, but he was very tolerable.
