Stay away from this hotel. It's horrible - or at least it was last summer when I stayed. I was one of the unfortunates who got bilked by the shuttle driver, when I thought he was trying to be nice and take us to somewhere close by (for a tip, of course). No. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had traveling. On the last day, my colleague and I were trying to get to the train station. The airport shuttle was leaving, and not knowing San Jose, we asked the driver if he could get us to the train in time, perhaps on the way to the airport. "Yes, yes," he said. Then he drove PAST the train station to take all the people to the airport, circling us back to the station and saying, "Hmm, WHAT time was your train again?" We made it with less than five minutes to spare. I knew this was a dicey after the first night's debacle, but I figured he had a busful of people - he wasn't going to screw us up. Right. Think again.

I returned to my room (in one of the annex buildings, which weren't lovely, to say the least) between conference sessions on the second day, and the door to my room was propped open, housekeeping nowhere to be found! I went back downstairs and got a fellow attendee to walk back up with me, just in case.

The curtains were torn, and generally speaking it was shabby. The front desk service was disinterested at best. Good thing the conference sponsors provided most of the food and drinks by the pool, because that was the best place to be on the property. The gardens were well-maintained and pretty. I would never, ever stay here again.

My worst Hyatt experience ever! It's supposed to be the first, original one.  I guess Hyatt should either a. renovate for the history, b. sell it to some motel chain.

A downscale Hyatt.

This place is a kind of a dump of a Hyatt.  They even closed down the on-property convenience store.  On the positive side, the gardens, pools, and restaurants are pretty nice.  The rooms are small and outdated, certain buildings have no elevators.

It is conveniently close to the SJC airport, so if you get a good rate and don't care where you stay you might choose this.  However, don't expect that you are staying at a full-service Hyatt property because you're not.

The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was great with a lot of choices. The free WiFi was very slow. The parking ($21 per night) is not great but all the hotels charge for parking in downtown San Jose. The check-in was not the greatest. I needed to get an early check-in, however, the staff person checking us in was not accommodating at all.  She said there were NO early check-ins. While we were waiting (after three hours) I fell asleep on the sofa and the manager woke me up and asked me if I was feeling well. I was feeling fine...just waiting to check in. He checked on my room and said it was available. However, when we walked over to check-in, the same staff person that said there were NO early check-ins asked in a stern voice WHO told me this! I didn't know the manager's name so I described what he looked like. She did check us in, however, I felt like she was inconvenienced. So I wasn't happy about the lack of service.

My cousin and I came here to see a concert at HP Pavilion and this seemed a good value for the money within walking distance of the venue. First, when we checked in, we were told our floor had no vending machines. Odd, but...ok? When we got into our room it was comfortable and well-decorated. Then we saw the used Q-tip on the bathroom floor. As it turned out, there were no vending machines anywhere in the hotel, but ice machines were on the "even" floors only. We were on the 9th floor and weren't given this tidbit of information. We ordered room service after the show that NEVER ARRIVED but the charges were on our bill in the AM. The complimentary breakfast was below par. I've stayed at hotels for half the price with better offerings.  We had paid the extra $21 to park in the garage. At check out returned our room keys and headed out to the car. Only to discover that you can't get out of the garage WITHOUT your room key. Again, would have been nice if they'd mentioned this! So had to hike back over to the lobby to get another key. The service was cheerful and they removed the room service charge without hesitation. Still, overall have to say a big disappointment.

There is no notice of a mandatory $19 for parking that is on your bill no matter what.  What if you have no car and were shuttled or take a cab? This should be posted on the website. Did not use their parking garage. The rooms are at a great price and plenty of space. Besides the two Queen or one King beds there is a large L-shaped sofa sleeper(2 more guests).The beds are very comfortable. A Hyatt tradition these days(best in the biz). The air-conditioning is a bit noisey like most places with individual room units.

I've stayed at other Hyatt Place hotels - they are a downscale, hip, version of the Hyatt Hotel.   My goal is not to review the Hyatt Place Chain, but this hotel specifically.  Here's the deal - it's subpar to other Hyatt Place.  It's rough around the edges.  The rooms are not well insulated, especially on the street side...it was really noisy.  Lots of little things too:  no liner in the ice bucket, and it was dirty and discolored, rooms not cleaned well, etc.  The staff was friendly, but I had to ask more than one time to have my room changed...when they have even written down my request earlier in the day...  Therefore, two star nails it.  It's not bad (location is great), but I've definitely experienced better!

Great downtown location was the reason I picked this hotel.  Probably the best free continetal breakfast I've had in a hotel.  The staff was amazing in giving us pointers of nightlife spots and dining locations.  The hotel itself was clean and the decor was modern contemparary.  The only negative was a parking fee but thats what is normal in any bay area hotel especially at a downtown location.  I will stay here again.

The room was reasonably priced, spacious, and clean. The bed was also pretty comfortable. Some things I didn't like was that the water pressure in the shower was too high and not enjoyable. Also we were given a room next to the server room which made a loud humming noise at night, so was a little hard to sleep. However, the complimentary breakfast was actually pretty good. We had to wait a little for the breakfast sandwiches, but they were tasty and it was definitely a treat! Also, we were a short walk from downtown and could easily access restaurants so we didn't really need a car. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely recommend staying here.

SIGH. These numb nuts tried to pacify us with a $50.00 gift card. I was thinking "Ok, at least we recovered some of our lost reservation money" - WRONG!!! It's just a certificate for 50 bucks off a night at the Hyatt!!!! OMG!!! I hate how crooked A$$ businesses always come up with some scheme to keep your money. So pathetic.

And I don't mean the street traffic......The Front Desk person tells me the noise in my room is the Engineering room - She could hear the Noise through the phone!!!! They tell me there is NOTHING they can do about it. So, I paid $$$$$$ for a room where I will not be able to sleep...On top of that, the staff literally lied to my face, and when called on it -  Raised his hands in the air and walked away without saying ANYTHING!!! I had always thought that a Hyatt was supposed to be a nice hotel - However, based on the fact that I will not be able to sleep tonight because it is SO DARN LOUD in this room from the Engineering Room noise - I have to say, without a doubt.....STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL - The Engineering Room Noise in the Room is unbearable - DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP!!!!!!!

I LOVED this place! I was downtown the night of the Sharks game AND St. Parick's Day. I knew I was going to want to stay somewhere close and this place is just about 3/4 mile away from the Shark Tank (aka HP Pavillion). I used a "hotel finding" web site and got what I think was a screamin' deal! Huge room with a King size bed plus a sofa sleeper. The room was beautiful with very modern decor.

Pro: Augustine, the front desk clerk was very nice, he came around the counter to stand and speak to me and shook my hand when I left.

Con: $19 parking garage fee. Yes it right across from the lobby and yes we had in-n-out privlidges but REALLY? $19?!
Also, their bar/lounge had a small, light meal menu and yes, it was a little expensive. That's not what the minus one star is for. It's because they don't have room service yet there were dirty dishes set outside peoples rooms.

Will I go back here? Of course, I will, especially if I get another $107/night price!

Stayed here for one night for a high school reunion and it was just what we needed. Clean, comfortable, spacious room with a very comfy bed and bedding. The bathroom was kinda small though but sufficed for a one night stay. It was quiet and we could walk to the restaurants and bars so no drinky-drivey and no taxi required. Check-in, check-out was easy enough. We didn't eat or drink there so I can't comment on that. For the price (reasonable) I would def stay again if in the area.

I'm giving the worst review simply because the parking attendant working here was the rudest employee I've ever interacted with in my entire life. Seeing as how I have no reviews, simply posting one based on his terrible customer service should show how awful he was. Hopefully the manager of this place will take some action. As it stands, I encourage any and everyone to avoid this place at all costs.

This place is located smackdown in the center of downtown, right across from the convention center & next to the civic auditorium. The interior is open & clean. The hotel staff from the front desk to the maids are so friendly & helpful. The rooms are spacious w/ a fridge. The whole hotel has free wifi. The offer a complimentry breakfast from 6-9am daily. In addition they have a small fitness center  for their guests. Slept like a baby!

This is a very nice hotel and the property is well taken care of.
However be very wary of getting a room on the street side the nonstop noise all night long will not allow you to sleep. IMA very sound sleeper and it kept waking me up with the street cars in the horns and trucks.

If you've been here before, you've gotta come back after the re-model! This place is perfect for the business traveler.  It has computers with printers available, free (easy to access) wi-fi, mini-lounge areas to getting together with co-workers, a bar, a WONDERFUL (and free!) breakfast buffet, great staff, a bar (with food available), and a fitness center.  Okay, the fitness center isn't all that impressive, but it's there and it has treadmills.  The location is good, too; right near the convention center.

The only thing that I wish that it had was a jacuzzi, but I guess you can't get it all.  

Also, it's unionized, so you don't have to feel guilty!

I went to an event at the sj civic auditorium so i wanted to find a relatively nice and safe hotel very close to the center and man did i pick a winner! the hyatt was actually the best deal for the hotels in downtown sj and it happened to be right behind the event center.

The staff was excellent.  Everyone was really nice from the maid to the bartender to the cute guy that checked me in (I think his name was Justin). The room was clean and the location was super convenient. As another yelper said i wish they had a jacuzzi but for what I needed this hotel was perfect! The only thing is they do charge for parking but I am pretty sure all the hotels downtown do.

The Good:
- The staffs here were very nice and greeted me each time I saw someone anytime of the day.
- Free breakfast every morning from 6-9 was a treat and it got better because of the choices offered. they had everything from muffins to fruits to hot sandwiches each morning. It's rare to come across a hotel that offers free breakfast that isn't continental (not counting concierge lounge breakfasts).
- The decor is pretty nice and modern in the lobby and rooms
- Location of the hotel was good. it was easy to access the highways and pretty close to a few shopping/dining areas like Santana Row or Westfield mall.

The Bad:
- I think the rooms could use a little work in the bathroom for the doors and the carpeting. Also, I'm not sure if it was just my room, but the bed sheets were not comfy at all. it felt starchy and grippy like it was damp -- for all 3 nights!
- The gym was mediocre, especially if you're a weightlifting guy/gal. They only had dumb bells and one of the 30 lb. weights was missing! there are no weight resistance machines. Otherwise, the gym had plenty of treadmills and I think 2 bikes and elliptical machines.
- The parking lot was easy to get in and out of with plenty of spots. But I thought charging $21/night was a little steep. I understand it's downtown San Jose, but $21 is almost comparable to Philly!

I wouldn't mind staying here again if it was the only option or if I had Hyatt status, but I would try and check out the Marriott or Starwood properties in the area first.

I loved this hotel! I stayed here with my wife and 1yr. old son on a layover in San Jose.
The king size bed we slept on was soooooo comfortable. Free WiFi throughout the hotel, huge plus!!!! The staff was really friendly. We asked them all sorts of questions as far as points of interest, directions, and which buses, trains, etc. to use when going from point A to point B.
They had a great complimentary breakfast. They had the usual breakfast items, to include delicious breakfast sandwiches, french toast, pancakes, and waffles. A wonderful assortment of fresh fruit, as well as fruit toppings for the yogurt, pancakes, waffles, etc.
Great location, close to the metro light rail, and bus lines going to the mall. The hotel was literally minutes from the airport. I was definitely impressed. For the rate-per-night, it's a deal! We will definitely be staying here again, when we return to San Jose.

I didn't stay here, so the review is for my experience at the bar/restaurant before a meeting. I had just gotten off of work and came early to grab a quick drink and some food before my friend's Landmark graduation, which was a 3 hour meeting during dinner, but only water was provided. So, naturally I wanted to eat and for convenience sake I ate at the bar. It took about 10 minutes before a bartender showed up and another 10 before he took my order (only one other person was there and he already had a drink). In the end the hummus platter was great, but the wine was just ok (Hyatt House Red).

I really want to give them 3.5 stars but half stars are not an option here.

I stayed here recently with my mom to attend a two day conference and we stayed here because it was close by and inexpensive. The people at the hotel were friendly and the proximity to restaurants were good. The free wifi was pretty awesome.

The only two problems I experiences was the breakfast and the housekeeping. Even though they made the beds and put in new towels, that's all they did. They didn't dust or empty the trash bins, which did have banana peels and wrappers in them. The breakfast was bad. I've read a lot of good reviews about their food but I didn't get that experience. The eggs were so undercooked and runny that I got sick. The apple juice tasted like plastic. The only good thing about breakfast was the cereal and tea.

I definitely will not stay here again.

I'm a little bit shocked at the mixed reviews.  This place should be 5 star all the way.  I'm here 10-5-13.  The eve of our half marathon Rock and Roll!!  Every single person we have had contact with is amazing.  The room is beautiful, huge, and clean.  We even have a little sofa sitting area and frig.  Perfect for post race champagne.  After I had dinner with my friends at their hotel (the Marriott) I asked the front desk about getting a late check out.  Mike, looked up my account and said no problem.  He gave me 1pm late checkout.  So I am sure we will have a great race, but I am positive we have a great room and hotel. Do not hesitate to stay here.

I'm so torn on the rating. It's probably a 2 or a 4, I can't decide.

The bad:
Intra-hotel sound - I can hear the person above and next to me use the bathroom. It's very uncomfortable to hear other people's morning routine.
Extra-hotel sound - I don't get it, I've stayed across the street at the Hilton and Marriott and never been awoken so many times by the planes, trains and automobiles. It feels like there is a microphone outside and a speaker inside, just to make sure I hear it all.
Elevators - probably the slowest I've ever experienced. The stairs are not easily accessible and drop you off outside the hotel.

The good:
Staff - as good or better than anywhere else I've ever stayed. Maybe even the Singapore Ritz-Carlton. Very friendly, but not overbearing. Not sure how they attract such talent, but I like it.
Modern decor - recently updated, has a modern feel despite the hotel being here for decades.
Clean - first time I haven't found the previous persons' hair all over the shower.
Food - I've been surprised, better quality than I would have guessed.

We LOVED it here at Hyatt Place!  We were greeted with an ultra-friendly "hello" at the front desk. We came here after a disaster over at a different dumpy motel booked through Priceline {just sayin'}. It was late, my mom, daughter, and I had been traveling from San Diego all day, we were tired, hungry, and needed a room. After explaining everything, we got checked in and our parking fees were comped!  That was so nice!  Throughout our stay, we discovered they have a complimentary buffet-style breakfast EVERY morning, which includes assorted fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, oatmeal with fixins, bagels and toast, milk, juices, a coffee and tea bar, and various specialty items such as french toast,  breakfast sandwiches, omelettes.. All items freshly made. I'm drooling just thinking about it. It really was so nice. We loved our room.  There wasn't a pool, so keep that in mind. This hotel was in the perfect location for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon, which is why we were there. I was running in my first half race ever!  There is also a Children's Museum a few blocks down with Monopoly Park!  That was fun to see. The Convention Center was right across the street from the Hyatt Place, so we didn't need to pay for parking to pick up my bib and race packet at the Expo. Downtown San Jose is right here, so had I had more time, there was lots to see and do and the Hyatt Place was right next to everything!  The hotel, being so close to downtown, was surprisingly quiet. We could see planes flying by out of our room window. We can't wait to stay here again!

My sister, son, and I stayed there for a night because my sister and I ran the San Jose Rock and Roll half-marathon.  It was a perfect location for the race.  The expo was right across the street at the convention center and the race start was a 5 minute walk.  The room was nice. We had 2 double beds and the beds were a little small, ok for a couple but for me and my 12 year old son not so much, lol. Luckily though the room had a nice seating area with a couch that he slept on.  The room had a big screen TV and a decent amount of channels and a good selection of movies to rent (for a small fortune). The room wasn't huge, but plenty enough for us and it was clean and cute.  The hotel it's self was pretty nice too.  Very open when you come in and the staff was very helpful and accommodating.  They even extended the breakfast until noon for the runners so we got to have the complimentary food after, which I thought was really nice.  The food wasn't out of this world, but had a pretty good selection and tasted good enough, but after running for 13.1 miles anything tasted good, lol. I think it had been sitting out for awhile because normally breakfast ends at 10am I believe. There was a fee to park in garage, I think it was $22, but you can go in and out. We will definitely stay there the next time we run in the race.  I wqould recommend it.

This will be my most negative review ever because I've not experienced this terrifying service before. I had my room booked and confirmed a month in advance. Came to check in around 4pm (assuming the room is guaranteed)  .. Well, they "oversold" the hotel and gave my room away. They offered to put me in a hotel that is over 8 miles away (although they claimed it's only 3 miles). To make matters worse, a middle aged man, that seemed like a manager, was staring at me ready to shoot me because I asked my representative how come they didn't email or call me? He then joined the conversation when I asked him why does he look so angry and staring when I wasn't even speaking to him. I've never experienced this terrifying service. Stayed at De Anza and they a million times better than. It does get better though, someone I know came to check in after and his room was ready :-) .. For a "hospitality" industry they need major education in how to interact with customers. I hope I never have to stay at this establishment and recommend that you don't either. Cheers

Attended a banquet for  a non-profit (BSA).  Food was cold, thrown on the table.  Ten at a table, five were served.  The next four were served 15 minutes later.  THe one vegetarian was served after everyone else's dessert.  The veggie meal was exactly the same tired vegetables that appeared on all of the other plates, except the meat was removed.  Parking was next to impossible.  Would never go there again.  Don't plan any event at this place.

Re-posting my Trip Advisor review.  Gave it 3 stars on TA, but 3 stars here means A-OK, so I'm downgrading it to a 2-star "Meh. I've experienced better."

Great Location. 50-50 Shot at a Good Night's Sleep.

Room Tip: Get a room on the parking garage side, or go somewhere else.

A bit about me - I travel 40-50 nights a year on business, mostly in the western US. I prefer to stay at Starwood and Hyatt properties.

This was my second stay at this Hyatt Place. The second experience was very different from the first. I'll get to that. First the good stuff:

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are well furnished and updated with good lighting and of reasonable size. They're a bit smaller than newer Hyatt Place locations, but you are in the city, so it is to be expected. There is a 42" HDTV with jacks for external devices. There are convenient power outlets at both the desk and the bedside table for charging gadgets. The complimentary breakfast at Hyatt Places is better than most (though not as good as a Homewood Suites). And, the location is excellent. There are several nearby restaurants and entertainment venues.

Shower quality, toiletries and towels are decent. The showers in Hyatt Place properties have glass doors rather than a curtain rod. The sink and countertop space is rather small - only about 30", so not a lot of room for your toiletry kit.

In-room coffee service is average, with generic coffee and powdered whitener rather than real half & half.

The fitness center is on par with similar business class hotels, with 4 treadmills and ellipticals, dumbells, and complimentary towels. But there was no lat pulldown machine.

There is no complimentary bottled water in the room. But if you ask at check in, and you belong to the Hyatt Gold Passport program, they'll probably give you a comp'ed bottle, as they did for me.

"High speed" internet was not. Speeds were pretty average by hotel standards, which is to say awful. 90ms ping / 1.12Mbps download / 1.32Mbps upload. I travel with a 4G mobile hotspot and don't rely on hotel wifi much anymore. I was able to stream a show on Netflix in the fitness center, however, over the hotel wifi.

I'm always disappointed when there is no recycling program as was the case here. It seems so simple.

There is a $21 nightly parking charge, which is not unexpected when in the middle of the city. There are no additional resort fees (which warrants a full star deduction in my book as it is a deceptive business practice).

This is a bit of an older property - a former Crowne Plaza, I think. As mentioned above, the interiors are fairly well updated, but elevators are older and slower, and there are signs of age.

Now for the really bad, which is the noise. You have a 50-50 chance at a good night's sleep. If you get a room facing the parking garage you're in luck. If you get a room facing the street, even on a higher floor, you won't need to bother requesting a wake-up call. You'll hear occasional noises from the light rail system throughout the night, but the train schedule really ramps up between 6:00 - 6:30 am, and you are right on top of it. This is not temporary noise that goes away, unlike the jack-hammering from the construction site across the street, which began in earnest shortly before 7:30 am.

All in all, it's below average for a Hyatt Place. It both prospers and suffers from its location. While fairly well-updated, there are signs of an aging property.

I stayed here for two nights while visiting in the area. I received a military discount for one night but it seemed they could not offer it for two nights any day that month.  Anyhow, the parking to check in was horrible.  They have their business vans in the customer parking for check in spots!! We had to drive around a few time before we had an open spot to check in.  The complimentary breakfast was good.  The hotel had room service but did not have a room service menu in the room.  The room itself was nice and clean I can't complain.   The customer service was a-ok it seems they only acknowledge you when checking in or out.  I liked the location but next time I will shop around more for a hotel in downtown San Jose to have other options.

Had a last minute birthday weekend get-a-way idea. We called around to several hotels downtown and no one had any rooms. Called here making the reservation was a little difficult ... had someone the line (getting prices) and he transferred me to the reservation line which hung up on me once and finally I was able to get through and get the reservation done. Overall the room was pretty nice. I would stay here again. The staff was extremely friendly and nice.

If normal check-in time is around 3-4pm, how could a hotel not have a room ready at 11pm when a reservation has been made days ago? And according to the front desk: "sorry it's been a really busy night, we've got a full bar of people waiting for a room." Ok great, that doesn't instill faith when they said room would be ready in just 15 minutes.
This place only gets one star for giving me a free ginger ale, which is really the least they should do. I will be sipping my ginger ale while going on hotels.com and look for a different hotel.

The staff was super friendly at check in, couldn't have asked for better. The room on the garage side was nice and quiet. My favorite part was the hang out area in the room. There was a small screen like wall separating the bed from the sofa and coffee table area. It made it nice to hang out in the room. Parking is quite pricey, but I doubt that you get it any cheaper anywhere else in downtown San Jose. They did have free wifi and a fridge in the room!

Fantastic hotel! I stayed here with a group of girlfriends and we thought the service was great. I loved that we were provided with free toothpaste in addition to the shampoo and conditioner. My sister forgot her toothbrush and the staff gave her a complimentary one. The lobby was very modern, lots of places to sit and stretch, I didn't feel cramped at all. The breakfast setup was nice and the food selection was good: waffles, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, cereal, english muffin/canadian bacon/egg sandwiches, and cereal boxes. Only complaint was that our hotel was near the elevator so we heard people late at night and early in the morning talking. The staff was very friendly and tried to accommodate our request for connecting rooms, and even though they weren't able to do it, the women checking us remembered our request and asked if had ever gotten resolved which impressed me.

Very nice hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful (especially Hector). Had a great two night stay in a comfy bed. Their showers are amazing and our room was quiet. Hardly heard the jets flying over from the airport. I would stay here again if I ever find myself in San Jose :)

The room is average, couldn't change the brightness on the TV, the noise level is high, the elevators are slow, there's no room service, no taxis come through, you have to cross the street to go to the convention center, the free breakfast doesn't start til 7 and they enforce it.
But the customer service. Oh my god it gets me all hot and bothered.. Just friggin on point with their attention to detail. Seriously it's like having a damn concierge on staff 24/7.
It's funny because as i checked in i asked if they offered Klout perks...... Moustafa asked(yes we're on a first name basis now) "what's that?" Having a 71 Klout score makes you a little jaded and i replied "if you don't know, you don't have them".....
Well either they checked out who i am, or they treat all their people like that.

Stayed here thinking that it's a Hyatt Place and would get good service.  We'll I was wrong. Nick the bartender was awesome but was unable to leave a tip on the hotel room charges. Even if you pay by credit card you can't leave a tip.  MUST LEAVE CASH, per hotel Management. When I asked for someone Mike the lead on duty was a complete douchebag and wouldn't do his job.  I have never heard of a hotel not accepting tips for their employees.  I would say go to the Hilton or Marriott if your travels bring you to San Jose Downtown area. Even as a Diamond Member of Hyatt Mike did not care. He me me waiting.

Located in downtown San Jose near the convention center. Check in was easy with a 15 minute reserved spot right by the front door. Staff was friendly and professional.  Room was a nice size. Full breakfast in the morning.

This hotel is in a great location. It is close to toe of the venues where my daughter performs. The hotel is in walking distance to many restaurants, but the Gallery at the hotel is great for when you need a quick it late bite.

I stayed here for a dance convention with my daughter.  The room was clean and the staff was helpful.  It was very hot outside and I was very happy the air conditioner worked well.  Not the fanciest Hyatt property but the convenience factor makes it worth it.  This place is walking distance to restaurants and shops.

- great location. We were here to see a concert at the City Civic so it was a block away and worked out great.

- nice room, clean, everything we needed.

- free internet was easy and fast.

- service was friendly.

- coffee at breakfast smelled like burnt soap. Food wasn't that great. This would be 4 stars for me if the coffee was solid.

- parking is $22/day !  This would be 5 stars for me if parking was free or very cheap.
Come on, I'm a diamond member!

- food was difficult to achieve around 10:30pm without getting in the car or settling for pizza. Not that big of a deal but we were a tad bummed and too tired/lazy to get in the car after a long day.

- air condition unit made weird annoying noises.

We had been traveling all night and arrived into San Jose airport at 10am. We called the hotel to see if we could do an early check in and we were told they didn't have rooms available but to check back in an hour. We did just that and the guy we spoke to said that they had two rooms available but they might be on the noisy side as they faced the street.
When we arrived at the hotel around noon, we were greeted and given keys to a room on the 6th floor. We were also each handed a bottle water and a energy bar! Talk about the best little touch when we had been traveling all night and forgot to stop to pick up food for refueling to be handed the water and energy bar!!!
The staff were all friendly and when came walking in late at night, each one greeted us with a friendly "welcome back".

Free a.m. Kitchen Skillet was awesome. Enjoyed every morning of it. Other than that, my stay at the Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown was very uncomfortable. My family was moved from room to room the first night because of a flood on the carpet - due to the faulty air conditioning.
If that was not enough hassle, the second room we were in during my second night also had a faulty air conditioning; it just stopped working in the middle of the night.
I was advised that an engineer will come in the morning, so we just had to endure the hot room all night.
It was disturbing that the staff had very poor communication not only to guests, but also to fellow staff members.

All I wanted was to get what I actually paid for. Unfortunately, nobody was able to provide or at the very least offer any sensible solution to my very unpleasant stay.

I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat, but they didn't offer much at this hotel other than good service. The workers at the front desk were very accommodating and housekeeping was great; but lets get down to the nitty gritty:

Sure they had a parking garage, but it was $22 a day (in & out).

The four nights I was there, I could not link to the free wifi they offered. I don't know if it was because we were on the 9th floor but it was kind of annoying.

Our T.V. wasn't working for some reason, so we asked for someone to assist us. He was a very nice gentleman, with his presence, everything seemed to work: wifi, tv...then he left.

My roommate and I decided to hit the fitness room one day and pretty much only offered cardio, two of each equipment: treadmill, elliptical, bike. They also provided free weights up to 50lbs. (what could you really do with that??) and a few medicine balls. I went to the front desk to pick up two yoga mats, but all they seem to have was one in the entire hotel. OH...and no pool or spa.

I do have to say I enjoyed the continental breakfast. From 6am-9am, they offered bagels, yogurt, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, french toast, and a variety of beverages. I have to state that you'd have limited options if you're vegetarian.

What threw me in for a loop was NO ROOM SERVICE! Their menu was very limited but when you did order food, you have to pick it up downstairs in the lobby.

Overall, I've obvs been to better hotels, but if I had to stay there again I would; Would I choose to stay there?? probs not.

Lesson learned, don't expect too much.

I probably would not stay here again, I need room service, bad.

Clean and big rooms, free wifi, free breakfast.  The only problem I had was that it was a little loud, since you could hear airplanes and light rail passing by at night, which kept  me from getting a great night's sleep.  Staff was nice and helpful though, and was able to scrounge up some ear plugs for me, which helped.

First let me just say that I would give them zero stars if I could.

Here's the scenario:
I went with my future in-laws to the Do-Terra symposium that the Hyatt is hosting. We had leftovers from PF Changs that I took off the car because my fiancé was coming straight from work and I figured he would be hungry and that we could get dinner after the symposium ended at 9 pm. I was still hungry too because I hadn't eaten since lunch and I had met my in-laws at PF Changs with just enough time to eat appetizers before leaving to the symposium. So when my fiancé arrived we found a seat in the lobby and pulled out our PF Changs leftovers.

What happened next:
Half way into our leftovers a guy named Nick who clearly works for the hotel comes over to us. He tells us that we cannot eat our PF Changs there because it's a restaurant. I totally understand this. So I tell him - "I'm so sorry, I didn't realize this was the restaurant." We then re-locate to non-restaurant seating in the lobby.

Well, I finished my food, and my fiancé had clearly lost his appetite, and so I went to chat with Nick. I explain to him that I understand why we couldn't sit there (because it's supposedly their restaurant) and he explains that he is sorry but his manager or "big boss" was watching and that the manager complained about it and told him he needed to say something so we would leave.

Now, I'm definitely angry. This is supposed to be a restaurant but even though the manager saw us sitting there - he didn't offer a menu and definitely no drink service.

Nick tried to say "Well you had your PF Changs bag." Seriously if the Hyatt knew anything about customer service they would have at least offered us drinks or a menu. We would have actually wanted to eat a full meal had we received any service in their so-called restaurant. I mean REALLY we could have even put the leftovers in the car (one of us would have been happy to make PF Changs our lunch tomorrow) if we knew they even served food in that area. And drinks would have definitely been nice. We were planning to wait for our family so we could eat dessert (and get dinner for my fiancé, myself, and possibly my future brother-in-law) after the symposium.

This horrible service was only in the lobby or "restaurant" of the Hyatt. I can only imagine what it might be like to actually have a room there. I would definitely not recommend anyone I know to come here. I'll even make sure that when Do-Terra gives their survey at the end of the event that my family lets them know they should pick another venue.

I do want to point out that Nick tried to make it right by offering to cover our dinner if we ate at their restaurant. However by this time, my fiancé definitely wanted to leave - and I agreed.

Had a great time at the Hyatt. I travel to watch Wrestlemania. They had everything organized for us. We had maps, schedules, public transportation information. It made our trip a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable. The free continental breakfast was restaurant quality. Definitely the best from any hotel I've ever had. We ordered dinner and they made a mistake on our order. They apologized and brought the right order up to our room. I was so impressed with the service I became a member.

This hotel is easily located in downtown San Jose. Charged parking is onsite in a garage. Spaces are decent sized.

Checkin was friendly and little timely.  Staff was helpful to provide the necessary guidance to the amenities of the hotel. Amenities include a gym, breakfast, large lobby, and conference rooms

My stay was four nights. The room was spacious equipped with a mini living room and bedroom. Room decor was up to date and in great condition.

Room temperature and central air were good working order. Bed was comfortable and rightful firm to soft to my liking.

The bathroom was in keep. It was a weird experience that each day house keeping stocked different things. One day was soap was refilled. Another shampoo was stocked. Next day was lotion.

Water pressure, shower head settings and temperature were okay. The bedroom carpet and decor were maintained. Another note, some days room was clean after 5pm. First time I ever seen hotel housekeeping getting to rooms after night.

No pool and no spa. A gym was available but not used.

There were some good breakfast options. One of the better breakfasts for a hotel. Plenty of seats.

Wifi is free for users. A weekly code is provided and service was consistent through my stay. Printer services available but incredibly slow and had to get the hotel maintenance to fix it.

Hotel check out was good and to the point. Leaving the parking lot with the room key was interesting as no collection box for keys was available nor directions on what to do for checkout.

Overall an okay visit for my first time staying at a Hyatt property. Four stars due to technical issues with printer and breakfast. I would come back.

5 star. Their service is really good! I asked them in the morning "do they have toothbrush and toothpaste" and they immediately got those things for me. I also asked for bottled water. Even though I put Do Not Disturb note on my door knob, they still placed bottled water in a bag hanging on the knob. It is so considerate of these people in the hotel. The hotel is nice and clean. All the furniture looks pretty new and modern and TV has many HD digital channels. They also have complementary breakfast which does need you to provide any voucher or stamp. A variety of food including fresh fruits and small sandwiches. Overall it is really impressive.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt. I was in town for 4 days and 3 nights for the San Jose Rock N Roll races.

When I checked in, I was able to snag a room earlier than check in time. AWESOME! Free Wi-Fi and free hot breakfast. Other perks include gym access and business center. You can print from anywhere in the hotel too! You would need to log into another site to do so.

There is a lounge/bar with a TV and bartender if you want a drink. On the other side of check in, there's also a 24/7 cafe where you can pick up snacks or order food items.

The room was very comfortable, clean and modern. Came with a nice comfy bed, fridge, hair dryer, lots of pillows, a sofa, and spacious bathroom. I barely heard my neighbors, which was great!

The only complaints was that my room faced the main street and I heard the tram go by, the A/C was super loud, and they were doing construction on my floor the last morning I was there. I wanted to sleep in but it was too noisy!

Great place to stay in downtown San Jose. I felt safe and comfortable. Friendly staff and the rooms are very affordable.

Old hotel with lipstick.  Not a lot of choices at the upper $380 price range, $43 tax, $28 parking.
Good location.  Plumbing is old, slow drains, slow elevator,  decor is ok although obviously a dress up job on a holiday inn. Wireless network very slow with many pages timing out during peak hours. Not worth the price but the bay area is severely impacted with a lack of rooms. (And I'm a diamond member, addicted to the brand).  Hyatt on Great America is not much better except the lobby bar and on site restaurants a plus.

My boyfriend and I came here visiting for a family's wedding way too early for normal check-in. We knew this, but didn't really have anywhere else  to go. We arrived and were welcomed by Chris and Liliana at the front desk. Score on customer service? 20 out of 10. Our reservations were a little bit of a pain but they figured it out gracefully and were so kind. They both went out of their way to help us immediately.
The continental breakfast is great! Good quality. At this point ... A Hyatt never disappoints.
