I am currently staying at the Motel 6 on the Alameda as we speak. The girl at the front desk was friendly and made me feel right at home. Dominos pizza has a great relationship with these guys because the delivery lady was at the front desk dropping off pizzas and told me to give em a call if I am hungry and the delivery would only take 20-25 minutes. I was excited because I arrived starving and promptly called them to order food. It's true..even the girl answering the phone said 20-25 minutes. The facility is quiet with hardly any noise at all. I am ground level and hear conversations as people pass by..but the noise is short lived. I got the last room available and it being so crowded..it's quiet as a mouse. I hope that all these people aren't just gone partying for the night and I get a bunch of noise at 2am...

My room was a decent size with a queen sized bed...it's a little tight from the foot of the bed and the TV cabinet so if any large people stay here...honestly you will have issues making it to the bathroom comfortably. But I am not large..so perfect for me. The room is immaculate...I have even checked the linens and the mattress for any signs of nastiness or bed bugs...I haven't found any. The carpet is so clean I actually would walk barefoot in the room without worrying about it. It's a newly renovated motel..so that might be part of the charm. But management seems to be on top of things because I don't have any complaints yet. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the wi fi connection is so bad, I had to go offline and request specific sites to put me online. It was a nightmare to connect to the internet and browse with no holdups. If they fix this issue..I would always stay here no questions asked anytime I needed a room.

Providing I am writing this review in the first hour of my stay...it may be updated if anything happens after 2am..LOL. I will be here 2 days so that would be enough time to find out what's hidden in the darkness that I don't see yet. But so far, excellent!

Short version: Don't ever bother making a reservation here. They will have no problem canceling your reservation at the last minute without telling you, leaving you SOL when you get there. The same thing that happened to Martha P. happened to me.

Long version: The very worst experience I've had at any motel, hotel, b&b, etc. I stayed at this location about 6 months ago and I thought it was fine. Not great, not terrible, just a reasonably priced motel conveniently close to HP Pavilion. I got tickets for a concert there so I thought I'd stay at this location again. I made a reservation a few months ago. The night of the show, I took CalTrain from San Francisco to San Jose for the concert. Once on the train, there was an announcement that a wreck was causing 90 minute delays in the train schedule. I realized if I didn't want to miss any of the concert, I'd have to go straight to the venue from the train station rather than checking in at the motel first. I called the motel at about 6pm and told them that I was on my way there but would be checking in late, probably around midnight. The woman on the phone told me that was fine. I went to the concert, had a great time, got to the motel about 11:45. I told the man at the desk my name. He held up a slip of paper with my credit card number on it and asked if that was me. I told him yes. He said my card had been declined so my reservation was canceled. Strange. "Maybe you can try swiping the actual card" I said as I got out my wallet. "No, when the card was declined I canceled the reservation. We gave your room to someone else. We have no more rooms," he said. I asked if he tried calling me when the card was declined so he could try a different card or I could at least make other arrangements. "No, when a card is declined, we just cancel the reservation." I understand charging someone's card when they're a no-show, but it's awfully sleazy of them to try processing my card (I wasn't even planning to pay with that card) when I had called ahead and told them I would be checking in late.

Turns out I wasn't alone. There was another motel with a vacancy sign right across the street, so I went over there. The lobby was locked up and there was a couple hovering near the door. They said they had tried ringing the after hours bell and had been waiting awhile but there was no one working the lobby. Then they said they had a reservation at the Motel 6 across the street, but when they got there, the man at the desk told them their card was declined and gave their room to someone else. They said they were going to drive back home to Monterrey. At this point, it was after midnight, so I had missed the last northbound CalTrain. I tried calling every hotel in a 10 mile radius and they were all full for the night. I couldn't find any info about any late night transportation from SJ to SF. My only options seemed to be pay a cab a few hundred bucks to drive me back to SF, sleep on the street, or find somewhere to hang out for 4 hours until I could take the first CalTrain in the morning. I took a cab to the nearest IHOP (apparently there are very few good all-night hang outs in SJ) and stayed there until 5 am, cursing the man at this Motel 6 the whole time.

my friend and I checked this hotel out since there was an on going convention and there are no more avlbl hotel around the area. the place is kinda sketchy and there are so many street walkers at night, moreso some dealing goin-on in the parking lot at times. the rooms are smelly and bed is dingy and mites, i've been scratching all night - told the front desk about it the next morning but they just shrugged it off. for $89 i'd go to the decent hotel nearby with free buffet breakfast. never again will i stay in this motel.. ever!

This review is written by my dad who stayed there.  I have stayed at this motel many times in the past but this last time when I stayed here my room had no hangars, the chairs had no padding and hard to sit on.  The wood floors carries sounds from room to room.  The room was clean but when I complained about the aforementioned items it fell upon deaf ears.  They said it was due to remodeling and  did not care about my concerns.  I will not be retuning to this motel.

Room= The rooms are clean BUT there tiny (Puts you in a mind frame of a dorm room) We only stayed for one night so it wasn't that bad ESP since it was clean I can't do nasty a$$ rooms..anywho We had a king bed room so I couldn't tell you if the two queen bed rooms were any bigger.

Checkout= They do NOT play when it comes to checking out this is the only reason I'm not giving it more stars. First off please don't come knocking at the door at 10:30 if checkout is at 11am! Hello! They said we could check out at 11:30am but that still didn't stop them from coming to our door two times then calling us 2 more times? Uhhh hello! That was pretty annoying esp when your nursing a hang over!

Side note the fridge doesn't get cold at all.

After staying in many dive Motel 6's across the country I was expecting this place to be another dingy, dirty hole that I wouldn't take my flip flops off in once again. But, much to my surprise, their "updated rooms" claim on the website rang true.

This place was fuckin' amazing for $60.00 on a Saturday night. New furniture, comfy stylish beds, the carpets were amazingly clean, and granite bathroom and vanity!? All I could think is "where the fuck am I?!"

Minus a star for the heating/cooling unit being temperature controlled. I couldn't get the damn cooler to come on for more than 30 seconds because apparently the room thought it was cold enough. No, fuck that! I want my igloo! Also, the mini fridge didn't work :( Boooo for warm Kettle One.

Overall, this place is a steal. Awesome owners, safe location, and amazingly cheap rooms for the quality they're dishing out. Next time I go to a Sharks game I will definitely be staying here again.

Do not go to this Motel 6. They will cancel your reservation without notifying you if there is a typo or error in you cc info and they will NOT call or email to get the correct information. We ended up stranded in San Jose at midnight with no way to get home and every single hotel booked up. Also, we were NOT the only people that had this happen to them that night at this Motel 6, and that was just in a 15 minute span.

I have stayed at at least 6 other Motel 6's from around California and I can tell you that I have never been so digusted in my life. If you like watching drug addicts walking around and taking your dog(s) out to the back at their designated area for pets, you will find used hypodermic needles strewn all about.
As I sat in the bed, I felt like there were bed bugs everywhere. I have no freekin idea where these other people have been in their lives, but this is no 2, 3, 4 or 5 star motel 6? This is a pathetic cheap motel full of San Jose's worst!
If you go there you are absolutely insane.
The only good thing is that when I told them I needed to check out for all of the above reasons, I was refunded my money, but my experience there will always scar any future Motel 6 visits. I will not return!

If you want to actually sleep then this is not the place to stay! I was attending a concert at the Areana and I wanted to stay with in walking distance so Motel 6 was the only option because the others in the area where full or $300.00. I booked my reservation on line (79.99 eek). The total price with taxes and fees was 91.00.
The room was clean so that was a good thing but it was also small. The end of the bed to the TV cabinet was about six inches and when you had the cabinet doors open you couldnt walk by. It was nice to have a little refrigerator however mine was turned off so it never really cooled down enough to keep my water cold. Also it was a pretty warm night and the AC wasnt really working all that well.
Around 2am I was woken up by a couple in the stairwell. I am pretty sure they were homeless and just needed a place to rest for a while. I was then woken up at 5 30 am by another homless/druggie screaming how "they" were going to shoot him oh and there was another homeless guy sleeping on the stairs. After about 20 minutes I think the cops took the guy away who thought he was going to get shoot.
I knew staying at the Motel 6 wouldnt be a 5 star experience but all I wanted was a place to sleep and I didnt get that. Funny thing when I told my Mom I stayed at Motel 6 she said oh thats where all the druggies stay. I wish I had talked to her before.
If you do not mind getting woken up at all hours of the night and fearing for your safety then this is the place for you.

Was looking for a hotel on the Alameda in San Jose and randomly decided to stop at this place. Totally was not what I expected from a Motel 6. It was totally worth 60 a night. The room was surprisingly very nice and most importantly, CLEAN!

Also, the front desk was very fast and helpful.

I saw the reviews on Yelp and on other sites, and was a bit skeptical but chose this motel for it's proximity to SAP Center, availability, and price considering that it was really only a place to rest for 6-7 hours. The neighborhood was just fine, cute in fact and us two ladies felt safe walking back to the motel from SAP at around 1am on a Thursday night. It wasn't noisy and we both slept suprisingly well on the beds. The room was very clean and modern, which was kind of fun given that its a Motel 6! They didn't provide any shampoo or conditioners in the room though, which we knew to bring our own from the reviews - no big deal. We used the fridge for our beers and had nice spot for our car. The maid did knock on our door at about 10am and didn't hear us saying not to come in. Kind of strange that she wanted to clean the room when we hadn't checked out yet, but whatever - the deadbolt was on and she was very apologetic. We stayed in a non-smoking, King Bed and it was as advertised. Overall, I'd stay here again.

I'd give this a 5 star review, but it was Motel 6 and we did pay a premium for it being a concert night. I do expect to pay less than $108 to stay at a Motel 6 after taxes and "resort" fees or whatever motels charge. So that's why I gave it a 4 star. I also dont think it had Wifi, which would have been nice.

          Pros:

          - Comfortable bed
          - Good TV reception
          - Free Wi-Fi
          - Close to train, arena, and restararaunts.

          Cons:
          - Weak hot water
          - Unable to use table because it is being used as a TV stand
          - No closet or hanger
          - No ironing board (but you can borrow an iron)
          - Drunk, high, loud guests making noise all hours of the night, including knocking on your door at 3am
          - Front desk with little interest in doing anything for you in regards to resolving these issues or offering compensation.

I'm hardly picky and I would have overlooked everything else if not for the unruly neighbors. It's a motel, not a club. It's just not worth it.

Why 5 stars? Well for starters, not because:

-there were plenty of carpet stains
          -hairs in the bathroom
          -ghetto window in the bathroom
          -broken furniture
          -dirty remote
          -one sink
          -broken chairs

For what you pay, this is on par.
This is the most disgusting room I've seen in my life.
Sofitel, L'ermitage, Ritz, Mandarin, Fairmont, Marriott, Hyatt, George V, The Standard... I've seen it all.

5 stars why? Because they have smoking rooms.
          THAT. is all.

          Doesn't hurt that with this cheap price we received a two-bed, mini-fridge-w/microwave, one-sink, two-chair, 4-cup, one-television motel room.

          Wifi was also free.

This place looks decent on the outside but when you try to unlock your door and it stays locked, you have a problem...

Then after waiting outside for 5 mins while  you switch rooms cause the original room is locked from the inside for some suspicious reason, you would think it would be half decent... Not!!

At first site it looks homey enough.. nice tv, new furnishings & a king bed.. but once you get into the fine print it leaves a lot to be desired: a few dead Mosquitos in the bathroom, really shabby half a$$ paint job, poor shower.

I wouldn't be half as pissed if I paid a normal rate instead of the $70 rip off I got.

Let me end on a positive note by saying "Have a nice day" :-)

This has always been  my favorite place to stay in San Jose. I normally am limited to Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn when staying on my employer's dime. I like that they now have updated the rooms to the new "metro style" rooms. The beds are still comfortable, and despite what I have seen others say, I have not seen the loud guests in the parking lot, nor have I seen numerous prostitutes in the area. (I did see one lady checking into a room a few weeks back, that kind of looked like she could be one, but in that five day stay, I never saw any signs that she actually was.)

I really like this Motel 6, however I am greatly disturbed by the treatment I received last night (7-31-2013) by the desk clerk. I think he might be the guy mentioned by others, that had issues checking in. He first stated that there are "no funds available, or I didn't pay my bill."  My employer has multiple employees staying in Motel 6's across the nation each and every night. I personally know of several, who checked into Motel 6's in CA and AZ without issue on the same day. (In fact, I ended up staying at another location in town, without issue.)

This guy remembered that I have been there several times, and utilized a corporate account. He seemed unable to figure out how to charge the corporate account. After a long wait, and his contact with my employer, an someone on his phone, he requested that I CALL him in thirty minutes. (why would I CALL, when I was standing right there?) Apparently "the box isn't working?"

I don't see why he could not check me into my room, and figure it out while I slept. It was a five day reservation, however probably would have ended up being ten, as my following week had not yet been scheduled.

I was very tired upon my arrival, and even more so forty-five minutes later when I had to drive to another location.

I'd love to give a lower rating for this place, but my past experience with the cleanliness and quality of the rooms and Free WiFi connection prevent me from doing so.

If the check-in guy is reading this. I hope that you will work on your computer skills and customer service.

The previois reviews are outdated. We came here while we looked for a place to live. Have spent 12 days here and the only drawback is housekeeping comes late afternoon unless you request early service.
We had a suite, it was freshly painted, hardwood floors, large bathroom, a tv in each room, and a table, 2 chairs, and a fridge & microwave. It isnt a 5 star hotel, but it sure was hard to leave! The pool is large and clean. We met many nice people sitting by the pool under the patio umbrellas.
Forget the rest of the reviews, for the price it can't be beat!

My husband and I booked a one night stay here.  The exterior is what you would expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms.  The decor looks like they actually tried.  Wifi is free and pretty fast.  The room was pretty clean.

However, the walls are paper thin--I was woken up by someone banging on the bathroom door in the room next to us and I've been listening to the adjoining room's conversation all morning.  They also don't give you shampoo.  For $90 a night, I expect shampoo, especially after a 6 hour drive to get there.  Had the price been lower I'd have been inclined to give them a higher star count.

In all, I'm a little relieved we're not staying here Memorial Day weekend.  I can't imagine dealing with the thinness of the walls then.

"Missy" went from sweet to insulting me in 2 seconds. She was ridiculously rude and sarcastic. They have a very restrictive guest policy and you must pay an additional $7 for each guest just to enter the hotel to park the car and visit.  The internet has a filter so some sites are blocked.  Management is never available to speak to and will never speak to you directly.  Employees always say "I need to ask my manager" and are not very helpful.  The staff seems very paranoid because the hotel is in a downtown area and perhaps has had problems with illegal drugs and prostitution.

My wife and I normally stay at this Motel 6 often as we share season tickets to the San Jose Sharks.  I recently booked a room for an upcoming game and the online reservation system had a glitch that caused the dates to revert to the day I was making the reservation.  The confirmation email went into my spam folder that only reports daily activity the following morning, so I was unable to view my confirmation email until it was too late to modify the reservation and correct the error (that the online system made).

Called the office to see if I was able to just apply that payment that was charged to my credit card to the date that I wanted to be there and was essentially told that it wasn't their problem and I would have to pay again.  No if, ands or buts about it.

What a terribly managed motel.  I will never stay here ever again and will never go to any other Motel 6 after the way I was treated, especially given I was a customer that stayed there often.

A great place to stay if you want to mingle with PIMPS. PROSTITUTES and DRUG DEALERS.

I recently stayed at this motel on two different occasions. During my first stay, I had a  prostitute proposition me when I was getting into my car to go to dinner. When I returned from dinner, I could smell weed and was approached by a drug dealer who wanted to know if I was interested in buying some from him. I thanked him for his offer and told him that I don't smoke, then went into my room. When I went back out to my car, to get my laptop, a pimp wanted to find out if "I needed company" that night. I said "no" and went back into my room.

During my most recent stay, there was a smell of sewage coming from the bath tub in my room. So I went to the front desk and spoke with "Missy". She was ridiculously rude and sarcastic. She demonstrated a complete lack of customer service, by saying that this was the last time that she'd switch rooms for me. I explained to her that the reason I wanted to switch rooms was because of the sewage smell and not out of convenience so she had an obligation to switch my rooms, rather than do it as a favor for me.

Travelers BEWARE: This place is by far the WORST Motel 6 I have stayed at yet.

this is without a doubt the absolute worst motel I have ever been in. The room was tiny, airless, and noisy. The room looked clean but felt grubby. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were worse than the bed. The location is handy but at 119$ per night I expected a good nights sleep too, that didn't happen.
Missy at the front desk was the nicest person...she was the ONLY reason this reviewer gave even one star to this establishment. There are other hotels in the area and I urge you to pay a bit more and get a really good nights rest because it isn't going to happen here.

The wifi was limited to email because of limited broadband. the wifi shuts down every half hour and makes you relogin and it is soooo slow.

I'm 5'6" and the sink was almost too tall for me. the mirror was too short and cut the top of my head off, not a good look for me ;-)

My husband and I were going to a dance held at the convention center, I looked for hotels in the area and they were all over $200 a night. We didn't need anything fancy just cheap and close. With $110 per night (with tax) and 5 minutes or $10 in taxi away from the convention center thus place will do the trick. Check-in is at 3, but we arrived at 2 And the front desk let is check in with no extra fee or anything. Check-in took 5 minutes at the most. Yes they do have the strict guest policy and make a copy of your ID's but if that is going to keep me safe then I have no problem with it.

So the room are remodeled and have a vibrant and modern look to them. It was really clean, didn't smell like anything. The heater warms up the room quickly and isn't loud. The blankets are so thin but oh so warm. They have a small table with two chairs to do work on or eat on. The bad thing is that it is right in front of the tv so you can't really eat and watch tv without tilting your head to the side. The other thing I didn't like was that there was no bags on the trash cans, I didn't want to throw a soda can away and then have it drip in the trash can. The last thing I didn't like was that the toilet paper is the cheap cheap cheap kind, you wipe yourself and have half the toilet paper stay in between your legs.

Checkout time was half a second, walked in there handed in the keys and was out.

Overall a great place to stay at an incredibly low rate.

Will stay again here every time I need a place to stay in the area.
