ugh. i think the only redeeming value of this place is the price. otherwise it's really old, and badly needs updating. mattress was soggy. sound insulation both to the outside and to the corridor sucked. i was in building 5 and could hear every single commuter train that went by--even the announcements were crystal clear. tv is old and fuzzy, furnishings are nicked and worn, room small and dark.  i got it on priceline, but even at $62, i think i'd rather spend more and stay somewhere else. no fridge in the room. free wireless was slow, but worked. everything just feels kind of cheap and old. my room had a stale smoke aura. stay somewhere else

Hotel was very clean, rooms didn't smell at all like some others reviewers say.  Everything was fine until I realize the shower parts were old and weren't working properly.  It needs some remodeling but the garden and pool area were beautiful. I would stay again but a short business trip. Can't beat location.

Walked into our room first thing I noticed was a fly flying around. Carpets were filthy sesame seeds left over from previos guests  bathroom dirty counter top cracked and falling apart very unhappy  . Moved to another room a little more clean but couldn't help but notice strong paint smell thee worst hotel I have ever stayed at not to mention the tiny uncomfortable beds ! Mattresses need to be replaced sinking in couldn't sleep hotel very run down needs major makeover I would not recommend this hotel to anyone !

The room was a bit smaller than I expected but it was very clean and nicely made up. There was a slight damp smell  that dissipated after we had the heat on for awhile. The ice machine was out of order and I did not feel like going to another building for ice so we did without. It would have been nice to have a fridge. There was no place to put luggage as there was no closet.....at least I didn't find one! Those are the drawbacks. On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable, the staff friendly, free wi fi in each room, a printer available in the lobby,  the tv worked fine, the onsite restaurant was very reasonably priced and the food was very good. It is also just a block from the airport. All in all, our experience at this hotel was very pleasant and we would be happy to stay there again.

Front desk is not the friendliest but gets the job done.

Very old hotel in need of updating.  I think because we used Priceline, they stuck us in rooms next to the highway and parallel to the light rail (heard the darn thing every 10-15 mins into the night).

Not the best hotel, but not the worst.  Clean enough I suppose.

Never got the mini fridge we requested...

Very close to San Jose Japantown.

It doesn't make any sense to me that people have given this place 3 and 4 stars.  The room is tiny, the TV picture quality is so bad that it is unusable.  When I asked them if they had a room where the TV works right, I was told that they are all really old and all work like that.  The internet is WAY slow.   All in all I am unimpressed.  I stay in hotels at least two nights a week and this is certainly below par.

I don't know why this is a 3 stars hotel. It's clean but it's maximum 2 stars quality.  Odd TV location in side wall. I saw better bathrooms in cheaper hotels. Nothing special. Just OK. Fourth stair is for good deal through Priceline  - $74 with taxes and all fees.  Next time I will probably find another place to stay.

I wanted to like this hotel, but....the room had a moldy sent that only by running the AC unit could I get it out of the air.  so I had the ac / fan on all night - it was not quiet...and the shower/bath, well.. let's say it was neat and clean but definitely needed some investment into the tile and fixtures - everything was worn out.
Staff was 50 /50 the check in on Saturday was great - very nice staff.  I should have asked then if I could check out at 1 pm ( instead of noon ) on Sunday.  Place was nearly empty when I checked in,  but the front desk insisted that a later check out was impossible since they would need  my room  on Monday.  what ever!
Breakfast was very good.   bed comfortable,  location good.
Oh, no elevator..

Motel 6 has better amenities! Definitely a motel feel. Old school TVs in a cubby hole in the wall with a snowy picture and very limited channels. They had bath and body works shampoo but no conditioner available...classy!  Very noisy..can hear the people upstairs walking constantly...just say no!

They get one star only because that is the minimum to post a review.

I have stayed at this overpriced hotel twice but not by choice.  A company I was doing work for booked my accommodations.  The rooms smell really bad, like nasty, filthy carpet.  When you come in from outside you realize just how nasty the rooms smell.  The big surprise on my first stay was the vent on the wall in the bathroom was simply a grill between the adjacent room's bathroom on the other side.  I could hear my neighbors brushing their teeth and anything else they decided to do in the bathroom and see they had the light on in the bathroom!  The rooms have old, outdated TVs with horrible color.

On my second stay there was a long, black hair in the shower....just nasty.  I put out the "Privacy Please" sign on the door while I was out because I don't want someone entering my room because of the equipment I leave in there but housekeeping entered anyway.  Maybe they can not read English but housekeeping knows what the sign means but does not care.

The place has good potential but needs a lot of work.  Lighting on the signs around the complex would help to find the building your room is located in.  One of the outside doors normally requiring a room key card inserted to unlock the door was not working and anyone could walk in off the street.  Funny for them to spend money on electronic locks and security cameras yet the locks don't work.

One more thing, the shower valve is very touchy, it goes from cold to hot with very little movement.  Other than those things, it was a great stay.  For the money, you can do far better.

We stayed here for a short layover. I booked the hotel through Hotwire and paid  $80 for the room including taxes. We were put up on the ground floor in building D facing the parking lot. The room smelled of too much air freshener, bathroom was moldy and the worst part were the thin walls and the large space underneath the door which separated us from the room next door and through which cigarette smoke, light and conversation wafted. I had the impression that they rent most of their rooms by the hour. It was seriously scary, can't see how they got 3 stars. Never again. I'd rather pay more and feel safe.

Conveniently located next to the airport.  My parents checked in late and my sister drove us there to meet them.  Place is hard to find by GPS since it is literally hidden behind a wall with a tiny opening.  My parents passed by it several times.  The place is a zoo and you end up winding around through a maze of parking lots.  We only stayed for 1 night and then headed up to Tahoe.  Overall, the rooms were decent- a bit small but hey it's at the airport.  Overall, not too shabby.  It probably would have been nice to check out the pool if we had time.

Booked this hotel via Hotwire who has it listed as a 3 star - how in the WORLD this happened is beyond me.  I can't WAIT for the night to be over so I can wake up & get the H out of here.
Smelly, unattractive, most things are broken.  The staff could care less that you are here.  It's the worst hotel experience booked on a discount online site that I've had.
How do these kinds of places survive?

Thankfully, we're only here one night.

Other than a shuttle from the airport, this hotel doesn't have much you would want.  the rooms are outdated, as is their technology.  CRT tvs, horrible wifi that wont stay connected, if it does, its less than 1mbps.  The TVs in the hotel 'bar' are flat screens, but SD broadcasts.  I cant call the rooms dirty, but they were a long way from clean.  next time i'm san jose, i will not be staying here.

First of all, this hotel really has a motel feel. They do try to make it look more "high class", but fail! If you paid anything more than $60 (tax and other not included), it's not worth it, in my opinion.

My room was decently clean. Staff was helpful. I stayed in building 3 on 2nd floor, and it was quiet in the morning. There is also free internet wireless and a good desk for my laptop... (I tried to look for good things abt this HOtel, but this is it)

Like other said, it's not that great of a HOtel. My room doesn't have a fridge. All the hotel/motel I stayed before, have one. There is no complimentary breakfast. Breakfast is around $11. I didn't try the gym and the pool though.

Well, you get what you paid. I didn't :(

The landscaping is well manicured. The parking lot is clean and well maintained.  The rooms are clean.  The carpeting and wall paint is in good shape.  That's where it ends.  It's an old hotel (ca 1950s) with old hotel problems.

The outside entry doors and the individual room doors have very old hardware.  The safety latch in my room wouldn't have held back my daughter.

The air conditioners are window-style air conditioners that make a lot of noise.  The plumbing is old.  In the shower, the temperature fluctuates constantly.

The televisions are old tube versions and supposedly had DirecTV but only about 5 channels were free of static and had programming worth watching. HBO worked the first day but then ... oh well.  The Wi-Fi is too easy to connect to - you don't need a password.  What kind of security is that?  The connection is very weak, spotty, and doesn't allow streaming.  Therefore, you can't play movies on services such as Netflix.

The pool was clean but too cold to swim in.  The hot tub had a lock on the gate with a sign that said it would be fixed 4 days ago.  The fitness center is a joke.  If you look through the window, you think, "okay, it's a fitness center." But, when you go inside, half of the machines don't work at all or work in a way that doesn't make you feel safe.

The staff is polite but not friendly.  No one smiles or engages in conversation.  I read into this that they don't like their jobs.  There is one exception here.  The housekeeping lady in my building was extremely nice and very accomodating.

In its heyday, it might have been a three star hotel; but, right now, they do the minimum so that they can check the boxes and get that third star.

My recommendation is to look around.  There are other hotels which provide clean rooms for less.

The reviews are pretty much mixed. We booked this room through Hotwire. I guess if you choose a hotel that has breakfast will give you better accomodations. This isn't your Marriott. It is a basic hotel that will meet your basic needs for your basic trip. It's an older hotel for sure that has several buildings. We were in building 5, so we didn't experience any freeway/street noise. We had an odd number room on the first floor so we had courtyard/pool access from our sliding door. The room was comfortable and clean. It does smell like a thrift store in the hallway with faint smells in the room. We just sprayed air freshener and it was fine. We didn't use the TV, the wireless internet was excellent so we watched netflix on the iPad and laptop. I would stay here again...but we got the Clarion hotel last time when we booked from Hotwire and it had better accommodations for a 2.5 star hotel.

Got this reservation thru Priceline (I booked it for my husband) and his business trip was cancelled (shortly after making the reservation). Both Priceline and the Hotel refused to make a refund. Horrible customer service! We live in Maryland and now we are out $600 for a room he will never stay in. :-(  This is how businesses make their profit in a down economy, thanks for stealing our hard earned money!!!

I chose this hotel for the price. It has an old fashioned California inn feel to it, with a Spanish mission motif. The courtyard (Garden) is quiet and clean. It is spacious and gives the place a resort feel; not a luxury resort but definitely a comfortable oasis near the airport, hwy 101 and the light-rail to downtown SJ.

The room was small but adequate. Everything was clean and well kept in my room. I spent two relaxing nights here and I will come again. It is modest and comfortable. The staff was helpful. No complaints!!

Got this hotel for a business trip. When I checked in, it was totally not what I had expected.  Dirty rugs, nasty smell in the rooms and not to mention it felt like I was in the 1990. Big box tv that would lose reception and get fuzzy.  Not to mention since I was on a business trip I had microwave food, I would have to pay $10 a day for a refrigerator/ freezer and when I would want to warm up my food I would have to ask the front desk to warm it up for me. I will never come here again.

I think when you book this hotel, it's mainly just for the convenience of it all. The check-in process was fast since I booked and pre-paid via Hotels.com . The front desk wasn't too engaging, not really saying anything. Usually, at least you'll get some sort of introduction to the hotel, but we didn't get any of the sort. The bed was very comfortable and surprisingly plush. The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff was very pleasant and did a great job. The A/C worked perfectly. I think the only thing that irked me about the room was that there was this large mirror by the sliding glass door. The curtains only cover the front and not the sides of the door, so if someone were to glance in at an angle, because the mirror is so large, they'd get a full view of our room. We just jammed a chair up in the curtains to fix.

The rate to stay there was fine, one of the lowest for the area. Parking wasn't too bad. It is very central to at least three major freeways in the area and is right up the street from downtown and the airport. Not sure if had a breakfast or wi-fi. Check-out was just as quick.

I am giving this hotel a bad rating not for the disappointing room or the food or the overpriced and lackluster beer selection. All those things I can live with. This review is in reaction to my experience with airport pick up. I left my car in the hotel parking lot for a week during which my bumper was sideswiped but since I signed a no liability waiver, I knew I couldn't blame them for that. Rather, when I called the hotel (which is less that a mile away from the airport) after my plane landed, I was informed that a shuttle would be there shortly to pick me up. 30 minutes later we were still waiting outside having watched EVERYONE else on our plane get picked up by their respective hotel shuttles. Then I saw what was supposed to be our shuttle pass us. The driver didn't even look to see if we were waiting where we had been told to wait. I then called the hotel and asked what the issue was and they said the driver would be there in a moment. 15 minutes later he shows up. No apologies, not nothing. Obviously, he did not get tipped but I do not know if this incompetency was due to the driver or the hotel staff or both. At any rate, I wish I had been told that I was going to have to wait that long because then I could have paid a taxi $5 to drop us off at the hotel which is literally a 3 minute drive. Did I mention this was at 10 PM? Not exaclty prime flying time.

In conclusion, never go to this hotel and if you do, don't leave your car there. This is the first one star review I have ever given and if there was no-star option, I would have used it.

I stay here quite often on business. It is a decent 3* place with decent amenities - clean and comfortable beds. The gym needs an uplift though and so do the ancient vacuum tube TVs in the rooms. Tip: don't pay the full rate on their website - instead search for it on Hotwire to save about 25% you can be pretty sure that the 3* hotel that pops up in San Jose is this one!!
Oh and the restaurant is an added benefit on the hotel property.

This was the only hotel available for the one night I needed to stay. I now see why! The hotel lobby is quite strange, little old school, not-so-inviting. Restaurant is WAAAAAY under-staffed and looks like a throw-back spot out of the early 80's. Although I will admit their food wasn't as bad as the decor.

The review is more for the room. As I walked in with bags, I was nervous. The room was dank and quite dark. The linens on the bed (and in the bathroom) felt as though they've met bleach more than their share of times. Thankfully there were operable windows and we were able to get fresh air, making this the ONE saving grace since there wasn't a bathroom fan!

It's so sad because the place is set up so well and with a facelift could really be a dazzling spot. Their service team could use a little brushing up as well, but I certainly will NOT be back. After sleeping on their bed, I suffered nearly three days of ongoing low back stiffness.

In a pinch it worked, but I'll make sure to plan well in advance for the future!

Picked this place for an inexpensive layover and thought that the gym looked good sized based on the web site.

The room quality and cost was ok, but the gym facility was a real let down.  A handful of machines and 50% of them were broken.  Didn't really get what I needed.

I might return if I can't find a less expensive option, it's very close to work and downtown SJ.

Check-in was fast and friendly.

At check-in the room was clean except for some hair/funk in the shower drain. We even did a bedbug check and didn't find anything of concern.

The pool is fantastic - a big pool with a large area of 3-3.5 foot depth great for the kids to play going all the way to 10 feet deep. There were no towels available when we arrived but after a quick visit to the front desk they replenished the towel shelves.

Parking is ample and available close to the buildings which have interior hallways and elevators. The decor was simple and  a little rustic or maybe well worn. I always appreciate white bedding - makes me feel better about the idea of it being really clean since stains and mystery spots would show. I like to believe they bleach the oogies out of the bedding in between guests.

We got a great deal ($55/night for 2 non-smoking queens) through Priceline and would definitely be willing to pay a bit more for the experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel after reading reviews.

Pros:
-Excellent airport shuttle (we called with no notice when we landed and they were waiting for us by the time we got to baggage claim.)
-Friendly staff
-The grounds were lovely.
-Room was clean.

Cons:
-Housekeeping came by early in the morning and woke us (and the other guests in our hallway) up.
-Breakfast ends at 9 so we missed it.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

My colleague and I rented two rooms through Priceline - we bid on a three star hotel. I'd give it less than one. Cockroaches in both our rooms. His shower didn't work and had no bath towels. They gave him a second room in the morning to shower in and the tub didn't drain. I had fast food wrappers under my bed, nail clippings on my bed, and the rug clearly hadn't been vacuumed. They were plenty quick to provide a full refund. And, when I expressed my surprise at the star rating the front desk clerk helpfully pointed out that star ratings are based on amentities, not quality. It seemed like she'd heard the complaints before.

Bought it off Priceline ($65!) but if I "win" this place again I plan to request a refund.

I have been staying at this hotel since the early 90s. Back the 'good old days' it was the Hyatt San Jose. Printers and PCs in the rooms, just refurbed, it was really a nice place.

it's still a very convenient hotel but is starting to slip a little. 135 a night is just too much for a 3 star fading beauty. The real estate has got to be worth a ton, I can't imagine why someone wouldn't either invest in this place or tear it down.

The interior courtyard is very nice and peaceful, and before they screwed it all up by not allowing the sliders to open I used to love to start my day with a cup of coffee out on the balcony. Not sure why they decided that 4 inches was enough for the door to open, but it really bums me out.

The room was clean and neat, and the bath was spotless. I love the old tile work, you are not going to see that anymore. Reminds me of the old Rickey's Hyatt in Palo Alto. if they do ever decide to refurb this place, that will be the first thing to go.

The TV is in a weird spot in an alcove up on the wall. I don't watch much so no big deal, but I wouldn't want to try and watch TV much or you'll get a crick in your neck for sure.

Overall it's an OK place, and if you can get a deal on priceline it's worth a stay.

At first I was scared booking this 3 star hotel from Expedia since it was technically a no name, but I was happy to find out when I got there, I was relieved to remember I recognize the place as the old Holiday Inn by 101 freeway.

Hotel is decent, a little small and we worried where the TV was but it was a small box TV up hiding in the wall.  Problem I don't care much for was the single ply paper which sucks and doesn't match the 3 star quality description.

Gym is 24hrs and breakfast is not included but can be purchased.

The room almost felt like an old barrack. The pictures are nice, nice atmosphere of the motel itself. But the rooms have had no attention, at all....in probably 15 years. It amazes me. I wonder what is done with all the money from this supposed 3 star motel.

I'd say come here if you were trying to save money, but it is vastly overpriced!  By that I mean that it has an 80's feel and is long overdue for a renovation.  When I checked in the receptionist mentioned my room has a patio which sounded like a nice feature.  Turns out that it was a sliding glass door that opens to a common courtyard/walkway.  There was also free internet, but aren't most places doing that these days?

One of the first things I noticed in my room was the already used bar of soap sitting in the soap dish in the shower.  The second day the maid didn't leave me new coffee, towels, or an ice bucket bag.

The room itself was average in size with an old CRT TV on a ledge and the picture had wavy lines constantly.  The pillows on the bed were small throw pillows and the bed was itchy.

While showering, the steam actually set off the smoke alarm in the room... fun!  At least the front desk took the time to call me and ask if everything was ok.  When I told them what it was, they acknowledged and dismissed it as a common occurrence.

Highly recommended!

I stay here every time I go to San Jose. I'm perhaps not as picky as those who remember the hotel in it's heyday, but for me, it's fantastic.

Beds are comfortable.  We got a BATHTUB! Maids are friendly and give you extra coffee upon request.  Not to mention free internet!

my favorite thing - BEAUTIFUL garden with lotus and roses, steamy hot jacuzzi and nice pool.

Fitness center is not too complete - but I'd rather spend my workout in the pool.

It's a shame because the property is nice but it's completely ruined by 1. The awful decor and 2. The incredibly rude manager, Carlos. He has no grasp of the hospitality business, no tact, and was very unpleasant to deal with. Many other things could be overlooked but me and my friends opinion of the hotel was ruined by him.

The reviews I read made this place seem really horrible, but it wasn't THAT bad. However, the rooms do look dated and nothing like a true 3-star hotel. It truly needs a renovation. I'm not sure why these hotels near airports are rated 3-stars...just because they're near an airport (similar experience in Fresno)?? The bed was comfy enough and staff was generally pleasant. You can hear noises from the outside when groups of people are walking and talking through the hall but nothing really kept me from sleeping at night. The TV quality was not very good so don't expect to get great entertainment during your stay. Overall, I would NOT ever pay the full regular rate for a room here unless I really need an airport shuttle (which I didn't on this past trip). I got a deal on Priceline and even then I thought it was a bit overpriced.

This place is pretty bad. I came here b/c it literally was the last place in town that had an open room in a 10 mile radius at the last minute. The inital warning signs all over the campus stating "The Location has Chemicals known to the State of CA to cause Cancer, Birth Defects or Reproductive Harm." should have been the first sign this was not the Ritz. The staff was nice, but that was pretty much the highlight. The rooms are very old, smelly and almost every aspect of every part of of the campus/buildings were dated, grimy and run down.

As I sit here and type this, I also don't expect a good night's sleep as the location right next to the 101 Highway is disturbingly loud, and the thin walls ensure that I hear everything my neighbors and upstairs tenants do.

Pay attention to these reviews. It's pretty gross.

Horrible horrible horrible. Do not stay here. I saw all the terrible reviews and booked anyways. Big mistake. Horrible experience. Had a client waiting for me and they would not even check me in because I had a temporary card. No other hotels have ever done this to me. I offered to leave a cash deposit. Manager was very nasty. I lost business because of this. There were bugs on the sofa in the lobby also. Probably did me a favor not letting me stay there.

We have stayed here several times in the past few years. As a park, sleep and fly hotel this place is excellent. The shuttle runs whenever someone needs it, not just at predetermined times, such as once every half hour. Whether you need to get to the airport or need to be picked up it is terrific not to have to wait and wait for the shuttle.
In our experience the staff has been unfailingly polite and helpful. The one time I stayed here as a singleton and had dinner the waitress was great, giving me unusually good service for a single woman dining alone.
We enjoy the slightly retro ambiance of the place-there are charming original, mid century modern touches that haven't been remodeled out of the decor. Little niches, cool artwork in the corridors, a nifty little area outside the bathroom in the sleeping rooms.
I wonder what all the 1-2 star reviewers expected for $100/night-sure beats a Motel 6 or 8 or other inexpensive motel which is what one expects to find in this price range.
I just booked our room for another park, sleep and fly adventure and am rather looking forward to another night in this sweet hotel.

First of all asked for a king bed and was assured we would get one, got here and we had two queens. Whatever it isn't that big of a deal...

However, the blood stain on one of the comforter and several hairs on the other comforter, in the bath tub and on the TOILET PAPER is NOT okay!

Not to mention the old musty smell and the overpowering smell of chemical cleaners (at least I know they are using cleaners!)  the carpets are dingy, the walls are thin and the staff isn't friendly

Definitely would not suggest it. How Priceline had this place marked as a 3 star hotel is beyond me!

The only resin I'm giving it two stars here is because it was so cheap and I've seen worse, but I would not recommend it!

I'm sorry but where Hotwire.com came up with a 3-star rating for this place I'll never know.  Hotwire's 3-star rating shows logos of the nations best hotels that we all know and love like Holiday Inn, Radission and Sheraton to name a few.

Then at the bottom there's this disclaimer: "Please note: Hotel brands featured above do not represent Hotwire's complete offering of hotel partners in this star rating category. We do not guarantee you will stay in one of these hotels. In addition, we offer select independent hotels, not listed here. Note that some brands feature hotels in more than one star rating category. "

Oh boy, where they right when they said that they don't guarantee that we would be staying at those nicer listings!!!!  We stayed at the "select independent" hotel that was horrible.

First of all, it's at most, a 2-star based on quality alone.  It's old and in need of a renovation that the owners probably can't afford.  The only saving grace for this place was that it was under $150 for a two night stay.  Other than that, here are a few reasons why my family and I didn't really enjoy our time there.

The place is rundown and has a mildew like smell to it.  There are several buildings to it so check in before getting your bags out of the car because you're probably gonna go to another building. There was elevator that was circa 1970 in there that smelled like pneumatic oil, the room was old and the furniture was from the 70's, there was a used tissue on the bathroom floor leaving the actual cleanliness of the room to your imagination, the bathroom door looked like it had been punched out, the exhaust fan didn't work so the whole room got misty during showers, there were only two bath towels after we specified 2 adults and 2 children would be staying there, the window  lock was broken and remained unlocked during our whole stay, the offer free wi-fi but I failed to see the point because it never worked, light switches didn't work, the landscape was similar to those of abandoned buildings, no "do-not-disturb" tag for the door, the place smelled and there are a myriad of stains all over the place.

Oh travelers!  Heed my humble warnings!  Pay $25 more a night and stay at a real 3-star place so you can enjoy your time.  Good bye Hotwire.com as I will never use you again after subjecting my family to this filth.  Next time, I'll be using hotel.com where I can see the name of the hotel we'll be staying at!

Huge hotel, more like an apt complex. For the price, don't bother.  The worst room ever.  Room smelled terrible, TV faded in and out, phone did not work, cigarette burns in carpet.  Cannot believe they put a guest in this room.  They are right next to the San Jose airport and only offer a shuttle to the airport at 7 am and 9 am.  ummmm checkout is at noon, right?  Had to take a taxi to the airport as my flight was not until after noon.

This hotel looks decent on the outside but everything is wrong on the inside.

-There is no comforter, just a couple of sheets as blanket so I was freezing my ass.
-Walls are paper thin. The shower in the next room sounds like Niagara Falls. You could hear people coughing in the next room and footsteps in the room above.
-The bathroom floor is vinyl sheet from the 70s
-TV is a 27 CRT that looks fuzzy (but at least has HBO)

I would have given it 3 stars but I cannot get pass the smell.

Not to mention I went out and purchased shower shoes....

I made a reservation for 1 night for the end of March.  Today I had to cancel it, so called the hotel and canceled (I thought). But, I failed to get a cancellation #.  They also told me that since I made the reservation through ParkSleepFly, I would also need to cancel with them.  I called them, told them to cancel my reservation and was told that they would refund my deposit, but that I needed to call the hotel for the cancelation #.  And that's where the endless loop began.  I called the hotel and the reservations clerk couldn't find me in their system.  He said he would xfr me to a supervisor; after 15 mins. on hold, I hung up and called back. They still couldn't find my reservation, so transferred me to Anna at reservations who was "who knows where".  She said that I had to talk to the hotel's in-house reservations and that she would transfer me.  Somehow I ended up back with Anna who said that I needed to call ParkSleepFly again since that's who I originally made the reservation through.  So, I talked to "Jessica" at ParkSleepFly and she said that I had to cancel directly with the hotel (here we go again!).  I told her that I was having not luck with that and she said that apparently the hotel hadn't received the reservation that ParkSleepFly fax'd to them, or just hadn't entered it into the hotel's reservation system (or maybe ParkSleepFly never fax'd in the first place).  I finally gave up and decided that if they charge me with a no-show charge, I'll just contest it via my credit card company.  So, there went an hour wasted!

Pros, Conveniently located near airport, food, gas station, freeways, transit train. Nice grounds, large pool, nice bartender, fitness center. Cons, very spare rooms (kind of cheap and depressing), large "campus" with multiple buildings means a long way to walk for some, so-so breakfast, and noisy by freeway. Not one of my best stays but it did the job.

I have a ton of complaints about this place, but they have all been covered by other reviewers.  Except for the ungodly amount of hookers and pimps that call this place home.  Do not expect a good nights sleep in you are staying Thurs - Sun.  The first time I stayed here there was a knock on the next door room every 30 mins, then I got to hear 15 mins of fun, then 15 mins later another client pounding on the door.  This continued all night long. The pimps walk around during the day trying to recruit clients.
This hotel is extremely outdated, and I would bring my own sheets if I were to stay here again.

Stayed here for a few nights while working in the area. The location isn't bad and the parking lot seemed pretty spacious. At no point did I have to try very hard to find parking near my room at various times throughout the day.

For the most part, the hotel is separated into several different buildings (I think 9, but I'm uncertain). Most, if not all of the buildings are only 2 floors. The rooms have a sliding glass and screen door which you can prop open for some fresh air.

The hotel has a small fitness center, a business center, restaurant, and pool. I did not have an opportunity to visit the business center, restaurant or pool, so I can't say anything about them. The fitness center is small and only had a couple of cardio machines and a lat pull down machine. Although limited on the fitness, it is a decent place to stretch out if you are not traveling alone.

My room was small, there is not question about that. However, sufficient for business travel. The television was somewhat old and there was no access to other media and I couldn't a/v out from my computer. However, this was no big deal since the hotel did offer free wifi. My room had a tub, but a colleague's did not, so if you want one, you may have to make a request to ensure that you get one.

Overall, not a bad place to stay. I'd definitely give it another try.

I came here for the VSSA fundraiser that is held annually.  For those who don't know, the VSSA is a local non-profit that helps give support to military veterans who have served our country.  This particular fundraiser was held in the Monterey Room which is in the furthest banquet room from the front lobby.

This hotel definitely isn't the newest hotel on the block or the nicest but from a location standpoint, it's located near the 101 but very close to accessing 880 and 87 too.  It's also right across the street from a mini shopping center with Subway, Starbucks, and a Chipotle.  And for those who have some extra cash to burn...Casino M8trix is a short walk away.

And since this hotel is so close to the airport,  it literally only takes minutes to be dropped off by shuttle or even to drop off a rental car too.

For a solid, no frill, convenient location stay, this hotel definitely fits the bill but if looking for something nicer, look elsewhere.

I stay in lots of hotels and I'm not super picky when it comes to a place to crash after a long work day. That said, I think a better name for this place would "The Mold Kingdom". They could have a moldy basket of fruit as their logo, then at least you would know what to expect.

As soon as we walked into the room we were smacked in the face with a super intense mold smell. It's true after a few hours you get used to it but I think mold spores may have made me sick from breathing them in all night. Another awesome feature is all the elevators are broken, which s great if you have lots of gear and are on the 3rd floor. The place smells like it was in hurricane Katrina and they just let it drip dry then opened right back up for business.

One of the afternoons we arrived back a little early form working so we went to the pool(no mold smell). Everything seemed OK except for the layer of oil on top of the water, pretty standard. We chose our chairs right next to a lone chicken nugget that was also getting crisp on the pool deck. This did make for a good Instagram but I prefer a pool deck free of chicken nuggs.

Overall, I'd say avoid this place. We grabbed it because everywhere was very expensive the time we were there, but had I known how nasty it was I would've paid more for an alternative.

I was appointed this hotel after a "name your own price" venture through Price Line. After looking through reviews I was... downcast. Much to my surprise, this place was just fine! The only thing that I can think of is that, given the room count, some blocks are worse than others...? We were in building 8 and while, sure, the place is on the old side, we were plenty happy with our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. Emenities (save for a room fridge) were that of any holiday inn / marriott that I have stayted in. Nothing smelled funny. The pool was most excelent, the grounds clean and kept. The staff friendly and helpful.

There's a reason this was the only hotel not fully booked a week ago.  Run down.  Poorly trained staff who couldn't get a job at a hotel with standards.  Restaurant menu with limited choices and even worse quality.  Rooms have 1960's air conditioning and 1970's TV's (not kidding).  The shuttle picked me up from the airport 3 miles away (to get me here), but refused to take me 2.9 miles to my business appointment - which every other hotel in the area would gladly do.  Bottom line: with such poor management and mediocre standards, spend your $200 at a real hotel and sleep better.

I had low expectations bc of other reviews I read on here but since I'd already booked the room through Orbitz I was kind of stuck.
I ended up in the main building ( there are many in this complex) and I'll say that I'm glad we stayed.  The room is a decent size, bed was comfortable (4 tiny pillows though... No biggie) and the bathrooms were clean and stocked with decent shampoos/lotions/ soaps.  Others posted pics of dirty bathrooms and laminate floors but I'm seeing tile floor (old but still tile) in the entry and bath and a nice bathroom counter top... Looks like granite. Anyway... For $200 its better than most for this area.  I'd stay again if I'm ever in the area.  The staff was also very nice and directed me to Denny's for a midnight meal (I had been traveling all day with my toddler and never got dinner).  Overall I'm pleased so far and gave 4 stars based on quality for value.  I know its not the Marriott so why would I compare to something like that.

Incredibly frustrating! The hotel is worn and the lower level is quite dirty. On a trip with my husband and nine year old stepdaughter, I checked in last night and was informed that the double queen room we had reserved and was confirmed a month ago was no longer available. They let us know they could send a rollaway bed in the morning?! When we pointed out that we needed one that night (and we had to, no kidding) said they would check to see if one was available...no luck. So we all pile into the king or one of us has to sleep on the desk chair? No sofas or back up sleep areas available for the families they screw over. As it was a pre paid reservation it was nonrefundable.

Does not deserve 1 star.

Complete DUMP!  Room was unsanitary, drapes ripped off the walls, smell was nothing I've encountered before.  Water would not turn on in shower, when the repair man came he even said the room was gross that I should move to a different building within their complex.  The carpeting in the hallways looked as if it had been used during a wild Spring Break vacation and smelled like an old dank bar.  The new room was marginally better but it smelled bad.  Fortunately it was not as horrifying as the first room.

The reviews I read prior to traveling here for that one night gave it 3 stars but were not YELP Reviews. I should have checked YELP first.  DO NOT GO HERE.  We could not get out of there fast enough.  HORRIBLE!

The only reason I booked the room was we were only going to be there a few hours and all the other hotels in the area were sky high in terms of prices.  Next time I find myself needing to stay near the San Jose Airport I will pay the price for a better hotel.

STAY AWAY!!!

This place was probably nice at one time.  I'm not sure that's been during my lifetime.

The stay started out nice.  Was upgraded to a suite.  I walked in to find antique climate controls, worn carpets and furniture, a tv with ten channels or so, and an uncomfortable bed.

The topper was when I tried to turn on the shower.....no hot water.  Maintenance guy came in and fixed the valve.  Gives you an idea of the condition of this place.

It's pretty expensive.  I'm not sure why.

I really can't complain as my company put me up for two nights while I interviewed with them. And it was really convenient to get to the airport (you are a few minutes away), the interview (which was directly down the road) and the light rail (just outside the hotel).

That said, not impressed and wouldn't stay there on my own dime. Sure, the lobby is nice looking, with a Spanish colonial vibe to it. And the lobby staff was polite and quick. But once you get past the lobby, you realize you're in an outdated college dormitory/hotel amalgamation. In fact, it looks like this place used to be a few hotels that all got bought up and combined, which means the rooms in one building are completely different from others. As my room was paid for by the company, I expect I got one of the cheaper rooms.

As it was late and drizzling, I decided to take the interior route, through a few buildings, to my outlier building. I got to my room and just poor design. The AC and desk were in a nook away from the main bed area. As people have joked, the TV is an outdated CRT version but it worked. The bathroom was odd, as it always sounded like someone was using a vacuum while I was in it.

And I'd say the gardens part was nice. Some ponds, a pool, a gazebo. Would be nicer if it weren't for all the smokers.

Pros
-Its close to the airport and lightrail
-The lobby staff is nice
-The garden is nice
-Its cheap

Cons
-Its old. The buildings, the items in the room, etc.
-Its big. Lots of separate buildings can make it confusing.
-Because its cheap, you get cheaper clientele. And I'm pretty sure I saw a hooker at one point.

Stayed there for one night before the flight.

The good:
- The have a pool. I presume it's cold because there was no one in it. I didn't have time to try it.
- There's a bed and a shower.
- Their soap is nice.
- There's a working heater.

The bad:
- Shampoo and conditioner in one.
- Room feels small.
- They had us sign one price at check-in and then shoved a paper under our door later with a different price. That was rude.
- Went to get breakfast and they have two breakfast halls. Both unlabeled. We got kicked out of one because we weren't with the orchestra group and out of the other because we'd have to pay. They wouldn't even give us coffee.
Went to the clerk, and oh hey.. guess what? - they forgot to give us breakfast vouchers. Almost left them hungry. When we went back in to the breakfast area with the vouchers, they didn't even apologize for making us run around. They really should have checked there if we were supposed to eat there or not.
- The had shampoo/conditioner in one.

As far as what it should be used for - a place to crash before a flight, it was fine. We chose it because it was the cheapest deal next to the airport we could get. I guess you get what you pay for.

Unfortunately, I had to stay here for a wedding. I read the online reviews before we got there, which were mostly negative, and I have to agree with them. My first thought when I walked into the room was that I had been transported to either a third world country or a time warp.

All of the furniture was outdated and shabby-looking. The TV was not even flat screen and it was in the weirdest position. It was in a little cubby hole at an angle. I have never seen this before. They advertised the room as having 2 queen beds but they seemed more like full beds.

The only positive was the landscaping.  It was a great place to have the pre-wedding events. However, we were repeatedly attacked by swarms of mosquitoes while walking around. Overall, this hotel needs a facelift badly.

This review is for a wedding reception I attended there. The one room I saw was pretty basic and I'm surprised they charge so much but anyways on to the reception.

I absolutely enjoyed this place for a wedding reception. One of my biggest concerns was the large windows looking out to the pool. But really the pool is not obvious at all. The doors open to a little courtyard which was nice for some fresh air yet close enough you could still enjoy the music from the reception. I do wonder though if those sleeping nearby heard it to. The food was good. I had the salmon and loved it! The dance floor was a tad small. There weren't enough servers in my opinion. The ones we had were really sweet and did an awesome job but I just think with the number of guests we should have had more servers helping. It just took too long to get the food out to everyone.

Overall I'd recommend this venue for a wedding reception or large party. Oh and I heard weddings are held in a gazebo on the other side of the pool. It's a nice area for a wedding ceremony.

Unbelievably poor customer service. The price that Priceline.com quoted me was a flat rate per night, and when I arrive there in a hurry, regrettably did not notice they were charging me more on my last night than what I had agreed to when I booked. I figured I could take care of it with them when I checked out, but they put the burden on me for the contract they have with priceline, and would not charge me what I agreed to with them. No chance of redeeming themselves at all.

Also, the hallway beeps randomly so pray you don't get a room at the end of the hall. Also, the second floor only allows you to open your window to a gorgeous garden view a total of 4 inches, so that the seats on the balcony are only for decoration and collecting leaves and dust. I did not turn on the tv from 1993 to be able to fully criticize this awful place. But I did go to the advertised fitness center, which only has 3 cardio machines and a lat machine so don't expect to get your full workout regimen in while staying here.

Overall, this place needs to shape up or stop charging people (and overcharging again) hotel prices for a motel room at best.

My original review was deleted by someone (Yelp?  the Hotel? who knows)  In any case I will write it again.

I decided to stay close to the Air Port as I had a 9 am flight out.  After checking all the hotels this was the only one with a room available.  I paid nearly 200.00 bucks and got a 25 dollar room.

The drapes were filthy, I sneezed when I shut them from the dust billowing out.  The carpets were so dirty they felt sticky to bare feet, so I wore flip flops.   The furniture I am pretty was from a thrift store of some kind.  The TV was about 20 years old and would not work at first.   When the maintenance man got it to work, it only got about 12 channels (for 200.00 bucks I should have gotten 112 channels), the shower wouldn't turn on, the maintenance man had to come back to muscle it for me.  No fridge, no microwave (these were an additional 10.00 per night EACH).    But hey, free WIFI, that is after I got the right login info from a surly man at the front desk who rolled his eyes and never smiled, even did a couple harumps...

I called other hotels in the area while I was at this place, to see if there were any cancellations, , the only one available was $500.00 a night.  So I pretty much had to stay at this flea bag.

Be advised the photos used to advertise this place are at least thirty years old.

I had no car and didn't want to go out so ordered a meal from room service.  It took a while to get to my room, the gratuity of 20% had already been added in and charged to my Credit card, the food was cold.  No microwave to warm it up ;( .    The fries were inedible, fried in very old oil, the taco type salad was at least edible.  I did drink the bottle of wine, at least it was ok.

I go out on a limb and order breakfast from room service, breakfast wrap, eggs with chorizo and onion...  at least it was hot.  The hash browns cooked in the same stale oil as the fries from the night before.   They should have listed the ingredients in the wrap as onion with egg and sausage.  But the half strawberry
and orange slice were good, best part of the meal!

Needless to say, this place is the worst place I have ever stayed in.  How the heck did it get 3 stars?

Oh, and I brought back a few vermin from this place.      Eeww.. buggies.

Free airport shuttle was the best feature of this dive.

I think I will recommend this place to my ex husband, his hooker GF would feel right at home here.

I've only been here for seminars, but its not bad.  The rooms are definitely older, but no issues as far as size/temperature/etc.

The "campus" is huge and parking kinda sucks though.  The front desk has always been extremely helpful in pointing me in the right direction or bringing extra supplies for the seminars.

Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, what more could you want?

Right by freeway and close to everything. The rooms were odor free and clean. The area was nice and the pool area is bigger than most places. It was clean and didnt smell too much like chlorine.  The stay was great, but there are things that needs improvement.

No fridge or microwave so I had to buy ice to store the kids milk and snacks. Checkin is at 3pm but we had to wait 30 with a whole bunch of other families because the rooms were not ready.

The staff was pretty much rude except for the tall man in the suit at the front counter. He was very professional. I have no problem on waiting if you are nice but evereyone else seemed like they hated their job. Overall experience was okay for the price we paid.

Danger! Had to make an unexpected reservation here in order to catch a morning flight. Used an emergency credit card that had not been used in months, and the next day I received a fraud alert from my bank stating that someone in San Francisco was purchasing $900 worth of gift cards. Either their card processing system is compromised or they have an employee taking advantage of customers. Either way, stay away.

The reviews are so true, I can't believe this was rated as a 3 star hotel. Sigh. It's truly a dump and the rooms are terrible.

Priceline didnt do a good job this time. Good thing I'm here for work and just staying the night. If you are planning a vacation, I would say skip this place. Even a motel 6 or the likes is better. Just saying.

The A/C sounds like it is going to die any minute and the walls are so thin I can hear the TV next door and the guy coughing. Unless you really just need a cheap room. .... Run. ... Run far away. .. This is one of the WORST hotels I've ever stayed at (Vagabond Inn in Chico, CA may have it beat).

The hotel lobby smells like cigarettes and mold. Whoever gave this anything more than 2 stars is not trustworthy. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Everything is outdated and broken. The wall A/C plug didn't even have a face plate on it. Electrical hazard?

We had to go and buy our own sheets and put them on top of the bed because I didn't trust that they even clean them after seeing how bad this hotel was.

It blows my mind how a hotel like this can charge $100+ a night and literally upgrade NOTHING in the rooms EVER.

When I first used the toilet (after I clorox wiped the whole bathroom down because of the filth) there was hair left over from the previous guest in the toilet. You can imagine where this hair came from. Use your imagination to guess where this hair came from.

Note for hotel staff: Why are there creepy stains on your towels?

You get what you pay for... This place is not the anywhere close to great but I think it's a good value for what you pay for. It is centrally located and very close to airport. The staff is wonderful. I would only give them 2 stars based on the quality of the rooms but the great staff bumped them up to four stars. If you want something nice or high end then this is not the place. If you want low price, clean rooms, and friendly service then it's a good value.

Not the best place I've ever stayed at. First, they claim to be a nonsmoking hotel yet they have designated smoking areas. Our first room was placed next to someone smoking and we had to change rooms due to my allergy of cigarette smoke. Second, the new room had a toilet that leaked constantly. Called for maintanence to fix. Came quick abd fixed it. Third, the door to the bathroom was very hard to slide and open and was a little dirty.
I've stayed at worse, though. There appeared to be no bed bugs, or bugs. The bed was clean, everything pretty clean. Seems to be an older hotel with some problems, but with a little upgrading wouldn't be too bad. Good it was only 1 night. Workers were friendly and helpful. Probably won't be back unless have to.
I do feel that 160 a night for this place is steep.

I stayed here for business. I was relocating to the area so my company paid for my hotel stay here. I am not picky - especially since my work was paying. However, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.  In my first room the rain leaked in from the glass door and soaked the carpet and my second room had lice. The hotel staff were not friendly ( nor were they surprised about the lice- which tells you something)- they did net even apologize for the leak or lice! I have stayed at motels ( at a much cheaper rate) with better service and rooms.
Horrible!

Good location near the 101 freeway and food options.... but....definitely NOT a 5 Star hotel.  The staff is sub-par, some actually appear as if they want to work there, however, most of them appear to be working there against their will and are less than professional.  The building has some nice architecture, but does appear to need an upgrade/remodel.

If you are desperate and there are no other hotels available, this may be worth taking a chance on... otherwise, try to avoid.

Very dirty rooms, dirty windows, dirty carpets smelling of mold, unfriendly staff. The in-room TV is an old CRT from 20 years ago, and so is the internet bandwidth: I was not even able to check in for my flight, any page would load as if on 16KBit modem speed. You are being charged a "Convention Facilities District Tax", and that is explained away with "We have been in business for umpteen years, we always charged that tax, all hotels do" - which is a lie, because the DoubleTree across the road does not charge it, nor do any other hotels I stayed with on a radius of 5 miles around the airport. Unlike other hotels they charge your card ahead of your stay, and keep charging the obscure taxes every night. Nobody at the reception can explain why that is and how to dispute a charge. The cleaning staff has their parties and powows in any empty room they can find -in my case it was the room next to me, where I had to listen to gossip and curt language until 1am on one of the nights. If I could give this one 0 stars, or even -5 stars, I would.

Yelpers have it right: this is a two-star hotel.  Dated and in need of an upgrade.  But, we stayed here for the same reasons most others seem to have stayed: it's close to the San Jose airport and highway; next to a local Hertz car rental shop where we could drop our car; a shuttle to the airport that leaves at 4:30 AM, allowing us to get to the airport in time for a 6:30 AM flight; and comparatively less expensive than most other options in the immediate area. This said, we paid $160 for the night (6 Jan 2015) and, despite the fact that other local hotels were booked, or even more expensive, felt that this was way too expensive for we got.  My advice? Stay if you have to - the place IS functionally adequate - but avoid if you can find anything else in the area that is comparably priced.

The room was disgusting. The drapes were ripped and spattered with something crusty and red -- looks like someone might have thrown a plate of tomato sauce, or been on the wrong end of a baseball bat.

It smelled or mildew. The toilet had dried urine on the rim. The built in hairdryer had a handprint of woman's foundation on it that had not been cleaned. There was pealing wallpaper. I took pictures.

It was awful. Do not go.

Well, you pay for what you get. It was one of those affordable hotels you book despite bad reviews because "you're only going to sleep there and check out to catch an early flight". So, I booked this on Hotels.com . This place managed to get 3 stars ... how or why? Possibly the people who rated it 3 Stars are the same people who keep everyone else awake throughout the night here. Lets start from the beginning shall we .... Check-in wasn't as bad as others had reviewed or maybe I'm just not as sensitive . I was also greeted as soon as I entered the lobby and  right away was asked if I needed any assistance. Got to my room. Hummmm well, as everyone stated and I will confirm,  this hotel is in major need of repair/upgrade. I also can confirm the following complaints from other yelpers: Yes, it smells. No, I would not walk around the room without slippers/shower shoes/flip flops (whatever you choose to call them) or socks. Yes, the walls are thinner than cardboard ... I can hear everything!! Probably even from the room down the hall. Yes, Television is still tube style with crap reception. Yes, there is a 1 - 2 inch gap of the bottom of the room door. Yes, all furniture seems to have come from a thrift shop. Now, some people stated in their reviews that their bed was comfortable ... define comfortable please because I could not sleep at all! The mattress is heavily worn (like all other furniture in and around this hotel). Oh wait, was it the mattress that kept me up all night? Smell? Dust? or all the wonderful considerate people that rated this high because they turned this place into a frat house?! Now, it isn't the hotels fault that these people, like myself, found an affordable hotel and booked it .. but guest should know. I have yet (and would prefer not too) to confirm the bugs previous reviews stated. Thanks to reviews, I did check the beds and pillows for bed bugs before sitting on them.

Good Luck and Best Wishes if you decide to book here despite the horrible reviews. I will not be back here unless I'm desperate or become a prostitute or the Zombie Apocalypse forces me in here (won't do me any good as they will get through the walls here).

Arrived to a lobby that was decorated nice, but became nervous with the smell.  Got my room in building 6.  Entering building 6 I notice a stench in the corridor when I walked in.  When I entered my room I was blown away by even more of a smell.  Before I could set my luggage down I notice something below the chair at the desk, after turning on a light I clearly saw what was a DOG POOP!  After snapping a photo (attached) and heading back to the front desk, I was given another room which I must say wasn't much better, it smelled, the tv remote never worked, the shower head shot water across the bathroom, and the AC unit clunked every time it would start.

My friend booked us here for 3, but they only gave us 2 breakfast vouchers and the front desk was very rude about it.

We were not informed that if we didn't book directly with the hotel, we only get 2 breakfast vouchers, no matter how many people you book for.   We booked through a third party like orbitz.

There was a spider in between the sheets, but we killed it before we slept.   My friend and I still got bit by something here.

I wouldn't mind booking here again, I just don't appreciate the front desk yelling at us for a simple matter because it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Needed updates about a 100 years ago inside and out. There are NO ELEVATORS!!! There is no ac or heater in the rooms so for me it's absolutely freezing!!! The old school boxes tv is in the wall to the top right of the bed. I've travelled to 3rd world countries and stayed in 1-2 star motels and never encountered a tv that wasn't in front of me... We got a decent deal off Priceline, but I think we would've fared off better at a Motel 6.  Front desk is alright didn't really deal with them much as we were only there for a few hours of the night.

We stayed in the back 700 bldg.  Entrance door is supposed to be secure but it wasn't.  Hallway is disgustingly old like its never been changed or cleaned since it opened.  Elevator was ancient and slow.  I was with a party of six staying in conjoined rooms.  Bedrooms were fine.  Bathrooms could use some updating - our sink handle was broken.  Tubs and shower were a good size but were old with cracks.

The upside:  very comfy bed and pillows.  One of the best 4 hours of sleep I've had.  The other plus was its location to the airport - very convenient.

This hotel is old. The carpet smells and the Internet is very, very slow! The TV still the tube style, but it works. Because it is so old, there are not many plugs around, so it is hard to work!

On the plus side: hotel has many, many rooms, and when everything is sold out in the area, this is an alternative. I paid premium still.
Hotel also has a decent workout room and the my room was clean.

We came to this hotel after booking a room in Fremont and upon checking in discovered it was a smoking room.  We spent an hour and a half on the phone with the Internet travel agency and gave up on being on hold that long and went to dinner.  By the time we finished dinner and called the agency back it was after 10:00. Due to the agencies policy about canceling reservations the only way we could get a refund was to rebook through them, and the only hotel with designated non-smoking rooms was nearly 30 minutes away.  Granted this isn't where we wanted to be,  and when we had arrived we were tired and our night plans were ruined. I was pleased to discover this was a nonsmoking hotel!

The landscaping was pretty and isn't your typical hotel. The front desk didn't explain the layout of the hotel,  but we didn't want to wait in line again to ask where our room was so we wandered around. I wasn't mad. We found our building and it was hot inside.  The hotel has a really antique feel to it. It was pretty. When we got to the room, the ac was blasting and it was such a relief.  The room didn't have any weird smells like some hotels do. The decor was simple and nice.  This isn't an updated hotel with fancy technology, no flat screen tv. But it's really cute. There were complimentary bottles of water and mini fridge.  Our room had a patio and overall we were more than happy with our stay!

There's also a hotel restaurant and the menus in the room, but it's kind of pricey. But super convenient if you needed it!

Well I was probably one of the few who stayed at this hotel not because it was close to the airport, but because it was close to the light rail line that allowed us to not need a car the two days we were in San Jose.

The setup of the hotel was interesting as it felt like I was in some sort of resort in Cuba, hence maybe the whole "garden" aspect. However it was quite a long walk from the concierge to the hotel rooms (as we were in building 8). The walk was interesting though.

As for the rooms themselves, I found them to be quite decent. In fact, the rooms were bigger than I thought, however they weren't pristine clean as we did find some dirt in the washrooms. There was also some crossfit team staying in our level so it was quite loud at night, but manageable. Also considering the location we didn't hear that much airplane noise, which was a bonus. The internet worked good, although it took us a while to get the password working properly (hint: capital letters).

Overall I wouldn't hesitate reconsidering this location for the sake of convenience and price. Of course I've stayed in better hotels, but the value is there at least.

Okay, we all know SJA Garden Hotel isn't a four or five star hotel, so why bother comparing it as such? Solid 2.5 star hotel, and definitely try to book through Priceline Express Deals for North San Jose/East Santa Clara area. We booked twice on that area and ended up with this hotel.

We were amazed by the service! I'm not going to get into details, but we asked for a few things that Priceline said would not be possible for any of their express deals, but SJA Garden allowed us to do them. The front desk people are really nice and polite and ready to help (though I did think the lobby smelled pretty weird). You don't even need to check out since they throw away the keys.

The hotel is humongous! It might be a little hard to find your building unless you have a car. We were placed in building 4, and the room was fine--no complaints, nothing spectacular either. The Internet is free, but does break off every so often, so don't plan on streaming movies. Water in shower and faucet works well, which is really important to me. Try to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and soap though because theirs are kind of sticky. Overall, very solid for the price (compared to all the other hotels around). Always seems to be available and definitely try to book through Priceline Express Deals starting at like $60!

The towels are like drying off with sandpaper and they used to be white (but are now a grey color). The TV is the old school boob tube with 5 channels. Their driver was an hour and a half late so I called a few times to get a status update.  He finally arrives and proceeded to call me a liar, point at me and berate me in front of people while picking me up at the airport and when dropping me off.  I was there the entire time (my flight landed at 9:30 and I didn't get picked up until about 11:10). Their non-descript little grey van didn't see me among the people being picked up by the more competent hotels they wisely chose to stay at.

The front desk also enjoyed telling me how they 'know their driver' and they know he was there. Horrible experience.

Stay far away unless you like being insulted by old van drivers who made poor life decisions.

On the plus side, this hotel is cheap but you get what you pay for.

I stayed here for one week when I first moved to SJ area. It was expensive than normal other hotels. On my check in, the receptionist at the office, sent me to wrong building and I had to come all the way to reception to ask him which is my room exactly, to which he said "Oh I am so sorry, Its building 4 and I sent you to building 6" He gave me a drinks coupon to compensate for it.

The rooms are old and have old furniture. The corridor smells like piss most of the time coz of very old carpets.

It a huge hotel and everything on ground floor, so you need to walk a lot to reach to your room from office. I didn't like that part as I had two big suitcases to carry.

Shuttled here after my flight got cancelled. Was handled a $349 voucher for my stay. The amenities of this dump don't justify a $60 stay. In my room was 1 working lightbulb, 1 working outlet, no tv, no internet, two guys working the front desk who don't care. BTW I was in building 8 in the back of the property. 1990 called, they want their hotel back. The internet is about as fast as dial up. The lobby and rooms have a bad smell to them. The toilet seemed to be leaking water because every time I went in the bathroom my socks would get wet. Housekeeping never even came to my door to ask for service. The tv is an ancient tube tv with terrible crackly sound. Walls thin as cardboard... You can hear everything.
After my boyfriend and I checked in and found our building (finally) we had to listen to a pimp telling some girls that they better have his money, as we dealt with a finicky card reader. Also, none of the vending machines in any of the buildings seem to be functioning either.
I will never stay here again!

This hotel wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other reviews made it out to be.

For me, it was a fairly standard room. The bed was comfortable and the wifi connection was decent. The breakfast at the restaurant was pretty good. The staff was friendly and helpful with a few minor issues I had.

If you can get a room here for 80 bucks or so, it's not a bad deal. It's a nice location being halfway between SAP Center and Levi's Stadium. It wasn't the best hotel I've stayed at but it certainly wasn't the worst.

Ok, let me make it simple!

Pro(s):
- location

Cons:
- rude & untrained front desk staff (both were male) and shuttle driver ( male driver took my $5)
- long walk to your room
- noisy people
- HORRIBLE WIFI!! Come on you are in Silicon Valley (well, kinda) with all the great technology. This is 2015! This gotta be the worst wifi I have used in hotels. Fortunately I live in US so I could rely on my LTE network on my phone but I feel terribly bad for foreigners that are staying here that rely so much on Hotel Wifi.
- $200 for this type of hotel? Hell no

I called this hotel 10 days prior to my arrival to make a reservation and held it with my credit card. The lady was helpful and gave me a AAA discount of $118 (from $169) per night. When I arrived, a Hispanic desk clerk about age 28, greeted me abruptly and informed me I didn't have a reservation. Then he said it was "last Thursday," which was the night I actually made the reservation. He was very rude and argued with me. I couldn't find my confirmation on line because the clerk at written down the wrong email to send my confirmation (he found it in his computer) and he didn't understand how scheduling a reservation on the same night I would arrive (from a 3 hour distance) made no sense and never agreed that the hotel made a mistake. In fact, he threatened me saying "I was trying to be nice just by giving you a room and not charging you for last week, but now . . . "  He also charged me $169 and when I asked for the AAA discount, he knocked off $20. He put me in a room overlooking the parking lot and when I called the front desk, put me on hold and left me there.  I drove to the front desk and he had moved to the other side of the counter and a courteous younger Hispanic man moved me to a room across the hall facing the interior (which is lovely with a gazebo and nice landscaping). The room was fine. The food in the grill was OK - not much healthy.  I wouldn't use the shower because there was mold in the tile grout.  I also wore socks because the tiled floor did not look clean.

I do not recommend this hotel because of the sloppy reservation and rude front desk staff.  The mold in the shower was disgusting!

A weird hotel who's quirkiness is dominated by the generally poor amenities.

I reserved my hotel room way too late for a business trip and wound up staying here. I will not make that mistake again. The two biggest complaints were:
1.) There was basically never any parking resulting my having to drive around for 10+ minutes in their sprawling lot late a night to find a space far from everything.
2.) The Wi-Fi was either down on not working.

Otherwise there were lots of little complaints that also added up. There was no hand towel in my room. The heat was set to be off, which was fine during the day, but resulted in my being freezing in the middle of the night. The door handle to my room was kind of broken and sat at 45 degree angle instead of horizontal, which made it hard to get the keycard to work.

Breakfast was just OK and I'd argue not any better than you'd get from a Holiday Inn Express hot buffet.

Despite the odd name, it's a historic and truly incredible property with old trees and many lovely sights. The pool is gorgeous. There's also a Ballroom, fitness room, gazebo and beautiful grounds with fountains, sculptures and rose gardens.

Giving this place five stars, though it should be 4.5 stars because I don't feel like it's gotten a fair shake here on Yelp. Some time back, there was water damage to the hotel, and that surely caused a huge problem. However, if you request a renovated room you will be sure to have comfortable and clean accommodations.
I've slept so well and felt quite safe here, as a solo lady traveler.

In addition to several cool places to hang out (or have business meetings), there's an on-site restaurant and bar (with bar food, which is why I would have subtracted that half-star), but they accommodated me and prepared a side of grilled veggies for me; super sweet!! I liked the bartender and waiter very much, as well as the manager, the 2 front desk people I spoke with and the bell hops.

I'm sad this place is slated to close this November and hope to return with my husband before then.

Everyone here is very nice, and the property is simply beautiful. Give it a try!

Oh and despite another reviewer's experience, I didn't find it "Bates" motel like, just a little surreal (not quite David Lynch- though!)
