It seems one can no longer reserve a room online. I wanted to reserve a room for my niece's wedding in August so I went to reserve a room at The Wyndham Garden San Jose Hotel. I have reserved many rooms in the past and always I gave them my credit card number to reserve the room. In tiny little print somewhere which I did not read I purchased these two nights 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE and I cannot get any kind of a refund if something dire happens and we cannot go to the wedding. I am STUCK with these rooms no matter what. So this is a warning to you (and to myself) that the new nefarious acts of hotels like The Wyndham Garden Hotel in San Jose will covertly suck you into a situation you do not want to be in. So so sad. I am going to ask my niece to take this hotel off of her list of places to get a room for her wedding.

Do not under any circumstances, park your car here!  We left our car over the Thanksgiving holiday.  When we returned, we were told the car had been moved from where we parked it to the other side of the building.  We walked around twice and couldn't find it.  When I went back to inform the front desk attendant, Claudia, she called a driver to help me.  The driver (who was very nice) took me around both lots twice and we couldn't find it.  He called the front desk to ask if there was anywhere else cars were parked because we were having no luck, she said no, that was the only place and then asked him to drop me off so he could pick up more patrons from the airport.  Excuse me?!?  My car is missing and she could not care less.  I went inside and asked to speak to a manager, Claudia told me there were none on the weekends and to just have a seat.  Ok, there is no manager, you just said there is no where else my car could possibly be, no other employees who know where to find it and the only person who was trying to help was just sent back to the airport...I should just have a seat?  I told her if the car was missing we would need to call the police to which she replied "go ahead and call them then" in the most flippant tone she could muster.  By this point I was fuming.  We called the police and while waiting for them I called their corporate office, where I was told they would get back to me within a week (gee, thanks).  Apparently while we were waiting a manager did come in, but never once did he acknowledge me, explain what was going on or apologize for the inconvenience.  He was able to locate the car down the street somewhere, which the shuttle driver brought around to us and apologized profusely about.  The entire ordeal lasted about an hour.  While I'm glad we got our car back, it was wholly unnecessary and not the slightest bit of care or concern was shown by the Wyndham.  Nearly 3 weeks later I haven't heard from anyone I contacted about the situation.

Booked through Expedia, never again. It may call itself a hotel but its not. It's an old MOTEL bought by Wyndham. Very sketchy neighborhood. Arrived on a late flight, check in was fine but when I opened the door to the room the smell of cigarettes was overpowering. I quickly drove back to front desk and asked if smoking was allowed, she said of course not. When I told her how nasty the room smelled she said that was the last room available on the 1st floor. I said fine. I'll take the 2nd floor.  So she gave me directions and pointed out the stairs. I asked where the elevator was and she said there wasn't one. What a joy to heave my suitcase up 3 flights of stairs. And down again the next morning.  Room had the smell of a very sweet taxi car air freshener but appeared clean and bed was comfortable. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. Forgot to mention the 6 foot 4 man in the parking lot looking in car windows. I reported that to the front desk and she simply said oh, we'll have security check it out when he arrives in an hour.

We had reservations through Priceline.  We arrived late night and Wyndham said they had no rooms.  They obviously gave away our room! They should have given us at least a courtesy call.  If they would have called us to let us know, we could have saved 45 extra minutes in driving there and over to new hotel.  Very unprofessional hotel.  They sent us to a less expensive Sheraton Four Points Hotel 13 miles away (by the way,  there was a Four Points Sheraton that was just a few miles away but the price there was double the one down south.)   I could have booked a room  at the Four Points cheaper than what I paid through Priceline.  Wyndham has terrible business practice.  I will never stay there.

My main impression is a lack of Spirit in some of the staff... mainly a manager or two.

The hotel drops into a BLACK hole occasionally.

Call room service and you might get a macho server who's less friendly than the guy
who sells you a brake job.
The food was good from the adjacent restaurant delivered to the room.

But when I called back for dessert he answered then the phone went nearly dead.
I couldn't hear him so I called back.. and five times it was never picked up over
    12 minutes.

A conversation with a desk staff was in two cases pleasanet and informative.

In one other case .. into a Black hole it went.

I was allowed to walk away without my room key.
And the person had no 'spirit'  .

    A bit freaky.

The maid staff was mostly hidden but when at noon I asked a maid for a bottle
of water she gladly agreed and gave me two she had.  bottled water 5 oz is
included in the room.  really non green and sad to see..
But the water from the taps is white.  Literally white not clear.
i suspect it's the water softener but it never goes clear and it's milky white.
    It tastes ok.

So there was 2 waters in the room.  Then next day no waters in the room.

there was shampoo left for guests then day 2 no shampoo left for guests.

The room is clean and 'nice'.  A fridge.  A single cup coffee maker. No microwave.

They sell food stuff in the lobby and the selection and price is fair.

25 minutes and still no answer at the room service.

    (sound of crickets)

No answer at the front desk either.  5 rings.

    (more sound of crickets)

    yeah $90 / night through booking.com
i may or may not get Wyndham credits. The check in female was sketchy about

10% off at the restaurant with 'a card'
    free breakfast with 'a card'

Not a bad deal if you're willing to 'run the place' yourself.

Just kidding OR am I ?

I didn't particularly think the neighborhood was bad.. it's non existent

It's of the freeway in a industrial area where .. nothing much is occupied.

    no houses around.

Stayed at this glorified motel (no interior hallways, only outside motel-style access to the room) one night last month (Jan 2014) for a conference down the street the next day. Check in process was quick and easy, plenty of self-parking in a sketchy low-lit parking lot outside the room. Can't comment on the bar / restaurant which is connected to the lobby, except to say that three Japanese businessmen were enjoying food and getting red faced on a bottle of wine there when I was checking in. The room itself was decent, clean, and they did their best at a modern look upgrade to what is basically a motel room. TV is flatscreen and good - wifi was free and fast. Bed was big and clean. Overall it was a decent nights sleep. It was the best option ($120/night) vs. other more expensive ($200+ / night) hotels in the area

I booked through Priceline. I didn't see the hotel until after I booked. All I could see was it was rated 3 stars out of 5. I thought it would book a good hotel. After I booked I saw it was Windham Gardens airport SJ. I looked it up and did my research. I saw reviews with pictures of giant cockroaches and horror stories and reviews saying there are never managers on sight. I called priceline and said I didn't want to stay here. They said give it a chance. I did. First I couldn't check in until 2. Then they charged my card $50 for deposit without telling me. They sent me to the wrong room 5 times. Then when I tried to get the issues resolved they told me and my family to sit in the lobby until 5pm to wait on the so called manager. That's 3 hours in a lobby with a 9 month old baby and all our luggage and a very upset husband. Then it turns out we were waiting for a front desk supervisor not a manger. This was only good experience the whole time. This gentleman helped us get the charge taken off and into a room. But we had booked so our kids could have fun swimming on this hot day. But by this time it was cold and the kids had to go home. Then the neighbors were yelling all night long. We recorded them yelling. There was no sleeping. When I tried to ask for a manger I was told there isn't one. I asked her to call the owner. She said they would call me on Monday. I told her this was unacceptable. She said we will try and have someone talk to you before u check out. The she called and said the owner says he won't talk to you now. Also u won't be getting a refund because u have a discounted rate. I hadn't asked for a refund but wow what service.

Yikes.... I spent hours looking over hotels online, and found Wyndham Garden, thought it would be great, but bot at all. The restaurant is awful, hotel staff unfriendly, the location is in a bad area. My wife was told not to walk to surrounding restaurants. Paper thin walls, and you can hear everything in surrounding rooms and hallways. Take a pass on this place.

Looks ok on the outside but not so good on the inside.  Middle of room clean but around the outside filthy. Found a pair of someone's  Dirty spocks and gymshorts under bed when looking for something I dropped.  Gross! No coffee at the coffee bar!  Stay somewhere else!

First of all. The management needs to learn how to smile. They're rude with short answers. The hotel staff was nice and friendly. The rooms were just reg. nothing fancy. Same with the pool. At least they were clean. The restaurant staff was just as crapy as the management. Food was the same as a cafeteria. Don't expect much. No plans on returning here again. Won't recommend to anyone for the price neither.

this was the worse hotel I have every stayed in my entire life.  poor service.  they won't even provide you enough soap. or fresh towels.  can you believe it!!!
I even asked to speak to a manager but no one is available.  they said, there is no manager on site and you have to make a claim and then someone will call you back a couple of days later (which no one ever did)

My car window was broken and two pieces of luggage were stolen during the day and within the first hour! Someone walked by as I was removing what was left in the car and said, "that happens at least once a week here". He was probably an employee. HOW ABOUT SOME SECURITY OR CAMERAS! Shame, shame, shame.

This is your basic motel. There are no frills. This place draws a variety of clientele.  (Professionals, vacationers and road warriors).  For the price my company paid for me to stay here, I'd say it's not worth it. But then again this is Silicon Valley and it seems all hotels in the area are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. I've stayed in much nicer hotels in nicer places for the same cost. I try to avoid the San Jose Area period. But if I have to come back this won't be my first choice unless my choice is driven by price.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Absolutely no parking since they contract with park and ride to the airport and when you try to ask the staff where to park they are dismissive and as arrogant as can be!! So totally unnecessary! The bar has advertisements outside that say happy hour two for one all beers but when you come in and order it becomes just bud light and well drinks with more lame and dismissive excuses! The rooms are indeed nice but those two above mentioned things make a pretty big difference to us and we hope you will not make the same mistake as us. Better to pay a few extra dollars and stay somewhere else..

Hard to see from the street and dark with little signage until you re on top of it. Lobby looks nice but then they ask you if you want Second Flr or First Floor. If you get Second floor be aware THERE ARE NO ELEVATORS!!!! So if you have luggage, good luck...

Staff are cordial but not friendly and seem very defensive when you ask why no elevators. Place is basically an old motel that was bought by Wyndham. Parking is right outside the rooms.

Room I got was nice but small. Open the door and your room is basically it. I did order a Salad at the Island Grill Restaurant. It was pretty good but a bit basic for the $16 it cost.

I stayed here because the Marriott was sold out and this place was $129. Won't be making that mistake again.

Terrible shuttle service. I park here now and then because it's cheap but the wait is often over 30 mins. I called today 50 mins ago and they said 15-20 mins. I called again and they said the driver has been busy.

Some of the front desk people are great. I've been here enough to recognize some of them. But others are rude and seem to have inconsistent policies on pricing.

I will probably use them less going forward. It's just not worth all the hassle.

    Terrible front desk customer service.
We booked a room through expedia and the payment and confirmation went through. I arrive at the hotel to check in. It was very late and we had been on the road driving for hours. We give them our name and she says we aren't in the system and that they are all booked out of rooms for the night. She kept shaking her head and saying "that's impossible" . My friend who was with me and booked the room with me showed her the receipt confirmation on his iphone. She took a quick glance at it and said again "that's impossible, I don't know why that went through. We are out of rooms" She told us to call Expedia to get it figured out and promptly brushed us off to check in a couple behind us. At this point I am tired and frustrated because it was almost 1 AM at night and I had a flight to catch early the next day. But more importantly I was appalled at the way the front desk receptionist treated us. Her tone was terse and accusatory. Even if it wasn't the hotel's fault, she could have been a lot more pleasant. We ended up calling expedia in the hotel lobby to find out what was going on. The expedia agency ended up calling the front desk. The same lady picked up the phone and told them that the booking should not have went through and stated AGAIN that it was "impossible". I dont know what expedia told the her but all of a sudden she magically remembers that there might be a room open! When she CLEARLY told us before that EVERY single room was booked.
We ended up getting a room, the room itself was clean and fine but the terrible customer service left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I don't know what all of these reviews are about. Our room was modern and clean. The bed was super comfortable. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The pool and hot tub were wonderful! The bar was fun. It is close to everything in San Jose.  I would recommend this hotel and come back again.

For the airport parking/shuttle service -- Stay away from this place. We waited 40 minutes to be picked up at the airport. 40 minutes is a looong time when you're tired and just want to get home :( My first pickup call was ignored/forgotten (the shuttle driver told me the clerk forgot to tell him I called the first time). I really got the feeling that the clerk "forgot" my first call intentionally because she seemed irritated that I lost my claim tag (I told her about it when I called for airport pickup the first time). Then we had to wait for them to find the key when we finally arrived at the hotel to pick up our cars. The whole process took about an hour. Trust me, it's not worth the $$ savings.

I'm so totally disgusted with the management staff at this property, I thought I had to post a review. I travel to SJC quite often. Recently it's been every week and I manage a large team that is doing the same. I booked a reservation through my corp travel desk. Unfortunately, I had a client cancel last minute b/c of a family emergency. I called the property to cancel my reservation around 5:00 am and was offered no flexibility. Simple answer was the property had a 24 hr cancellation policy. I'm certainly not disputing the policy, but certain circumstances at time call for flexibility. The only option was to accept the one night cancellation charges ($200+). I've since tried multiple times to work something out with the mgmt staff, but I'm consistently given the "not interested" attitude. Pay the penalty, end of story. I even tried calling Wyndham Corp Client Services (i'm a priority member). The property is a franchise property so Corp is hands off. Stuff happens with business travel and I'd be surprised if they were unable to rebook the room.

I guess the best option is utilize my Q rating, and social media to share my negative story. I manage two very large F100 accounts in the Silicon Valley area and have posted similar posts to their corp travel blogs. Our Corp travel desk is also aware and to avoid this property at all cost.

Sorry Wyndham, but we are now at odds for all future bookings in and out of SJC, .

I had a completely horrible stay here. Everything was. Fine when we checked in. My boyfriend and I put our bags in our room then we left to the movies. When we came back ALL our stuff was stolen!!!! The drawers were open as well. We couldn't believe it! We went to the front desk and they said they could call the cops but the cops wouldn't do anything because there was no proof on who took out items. We asked to speak with the manager but they said the manager was off on weekends. They said the manager will get back to us when they come to work. In the end the staff did NOTHING to make us feel comfortable at our stay here. We lost more than $6000 worth of stuff and not even a refund on the room! They did absolutely nothing for us. We don't know if a staff member broke into our room or a random person. If you have a choice between motel 6 or this hotel choose motel 6!!! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. They will not help you whatsoever!

This review is for their parking service that we used via AirportParkingReservatio… .

Think twice before parking there.  We parked our car there for 7 days; left them our car key (regret not leaving only valet key) as required.  When we came back the glove compartment and the compartment between the two front seats were left open. The car was parked in the same location.  There was no forced entry or tampered locks. Nothing valuable was taken from the car, but that's besides the point.

We reported this incident to the hotel; left two voicemails with their manager.  We asked who has access to car keys and what their standard procedures are for securing the keys.  No acknowledgement or response to date and it's been over a week since we returned.  We also reported it to AirportParkingReservatio… and got passive reply, "We sent another copy of your concern to the lot's management today and asked them to reach out to you regarding this matter."

    Don't park at this hotel.

i lost my ccard and i asked visa for a emergency card deliveried to this hotel. the envelope arrived 2 days before my check in. when i arrived, the front desk woman just look once at the desk and couldnt find my envelope. so she doubt my information and ask me to call visa.
i had to call in front of them just to show that i was right. so she looked harder and guess what? the envelope is right there with some other papers.

The epitome of cheap.  When the initial coffee pot of the day runs dry in the lobby...that's it.  They don't refill it.  Don't drink the orange infused ice water in the lobby; they don't change the water or ice in a timely manner.

No breakfast buffet or continental breakfast.  I've stayed at Days Inn's in the middle of Wyoming that have at least a continental.

The rooms are clean and serviceable but that's only because they were newly remodeled.  The areas around the outside of the rooms reek of cigarette's and mold.

The beer happy hour appears cool (2 for 1) until you realize that each beer costs 6 dollars.  The restaurant food is barely edible and the prices are ridiculous.  Use this place as a convenient place to sleep.  There is nothing of significance within a safe walking distance.

This place is nice. Has a great pool. The rooms are very nice but beware, the rooms are a black hole for cell phone service and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi on the outer edge of the hotel is practically nonexistent. If you're looking to do work from a hotel room and need Internet access ask for a room that is by the hotel lobby. They have a free shuttle that will take you to and from the airport and if you tip shuttle driver at night and he's not busy and take you around to other places.

    PRO TIP:
Go on Expedia and get a price for a room at $90. Then call back to the front desk and tell them you have a third-party booking and they will lower their price by $10 you can score an $80 room if you're willing to do just a little bit of footwork.

The Wyndham website has beautiful pictures of the lobby and even some attractive rooms. And the lobby and rooms are indeed attractive!

But driving up the the hotel, through what can only be called a "sketchy" neighborhood, you pull up to a motel, not the hotel you were expecting.

This is an old motel with exterior doors -- they open up to the sidewalk and maybe to your car -- that has been bought and refurbished with all the nice mod cons of a Wyndham property. But it's still a motel.

Did I feel safe? Yes. Would others? Probably not.

The room itself was your typical motel room, except with the nice Wyndham touches -- a nice bed, a huge flat-panel TV and luxurious toiletries.

The staff was super-friendly, and when my sing became clogged and wouldn't drain, maintenance was quick to come fix it (they were just down the sidewalk from me).

This would be an outstanding 1 or 2-star motel, but with the Wyndham name attached to it, your expectations are almost bound to fall flat. I wasn't upset, but I was disappointed. I didn't plan on staying at a motel, not matter how nice.

I thought it was fine for what it is even though there are lots of not so great reviews. The room was clean, updated and bed was comfy. Easy to get to and good parking.
This is definitely a place to stay if you are on your own and in town on business or looking for a cheaper place to stay that is nicer than your typical motel.

Had a confirmed reservation.  Arrived at about 10:30 PM.  Front desk says they are oversold and will try to get me a room.  I finally did get a room, but several people who arrived a few minutes later were not as fortunate as far as I know.  Same story, had confirmed reservations, but no rooms available.

Room was very dated and in need of a remodel and good cleaning.  Not worth the price paid.

Many of the more affordable and higher-end hotels were booked the week I needed to be in San Jose, so the Wyndham Garden was booked for me and my colleagues during our business trip. Location of the hotel wasn't in the best area, (close to a school, police station and county jail) but it was close to our destination so it accessible. Upon arriving to the lobby, checking in was simple, and the front desk attendants were helpful in explaining where our rooms located and the parking situation..they gave us a parking permit for the week. While the lobby was some-what modern, the exterior of the 'hotel' resembled a motel with its doors facing the parking lot. We were glad our rooms were on the second level (in my opinion, there's that uncertainty staying on the lower level) and next to each other. The interior was surprisingly better than expected. The overall room was very modern; it consisted of one queen-size bed with white-fitted sheets, a flat screen TV and updated toilets, sinks and shower. One thing that really worried me coming to the Wyndham were the recent reviews/photos of the roaches. I checked all areas where they might be and luckily I did not find any. Wifi connection was so-so; it wasn't the quickest speed but it helped. The pillows were too soft for my liking, but the bed was comfortable. The shower, shower curtains, sink, toilet and floor was clean. I chose the option to place my 'Do Not Disturb' sign to not have room service during my stay, yet they maintenance my room the second day staying. This happened to my colleague and I and had to bring it up to the front desk. We were apologized with a note on our door the next day. Their key cards could use a little updating; like most key cards it is suggested to keep away from any electronics to avoid deactivation; although my key card was no where near my electronics, I had to get it replaced twice because it wasn't working.

Although I personally did not choose the Wyndham, this was one of the better motels I've stayed in. Would I recommend this place? -probably not to people with high expectations..it was on the pricey side for a place that claims to be a hotel ($180/night). Again, the hotel was very accessible to where we needed to be for the week.
