We love this place.  Great owners.  Zero attitude.  Clean rooms.  Cheap.  Microwave and fridge in room.  Close to beach and casinos and Heavenly.  Free breakfast and morning coffee.  Sweet, accomodating owners.
A message for Andrew C., the other reviewer:  Most motel owners don't let you leave your dog in their home while you go out to dinner or whatever.  Should you choose to use this unusual service (provided for FREE), you are assuming all responsiblity.  Also, you just got a rescue dog and you ditch it in a strange place?  Then blame it on the owners?  When they are doing you a favor?
Next time you leave your dog with someone you don't know, instruct them to use a leash (that is YOUR responsibility).  If your dog is skiddish about going back to such a place, don't ditch your dog there again the next day!  Wierd, your dog was "wound up" after you ditched her with dogs she'd had "altercations" with?  WTF?  You call your dog "smart doggie" but maybe you need to take some lessons in dog ownership and personal responsibility, 101.

This place is perfect as far as I'm concerned... I loved it, my wife loved it, and my dog loved it!

If you're looking for fancy, pretentious, gilded accommodations, go to a casino in NV.  If you're looking for inexpensive, cool, low key motel with class and a style of its own, this is the place.  Our room had a king sized bed and a fireplace... what else does one need to celebrate Valentine's Day!

The owners are the best.  Not only did were they friendly and helpful, they took our dog into their home and treated her like their own while we skied all day.  At one point while we were out for dinner our dog got restless (and noisy) so they took her for a walk around the neighborhood... now that's service!

A few blocks from the Heavenly Gondola with a rockin little hot tub.
We'll be back... in fact, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Tahoe!

Awesome place for an awesome price!  And totally pet friendly!  Carolyn is a gem and is so gregarious!  Love Hannah too (her cute dog)!  The rooms are clean, comfy, and the hot tub is definitely a great place to go after a hard day of getting my butt kicked by snowboarding!  Recommend asking for a fireplace room if you can get it.  They're so snug, warm, and cozy!  The location is spot on too.  You're within walking distance from the beach and also walking distance from the casinos and Heavenly village.  Heavenly village has a gondola so you can walk your snowboards/skis right out of the inn and on to the gondola.  No parking necessary!  The Inn has plenty of parking and is tucked in a part of the residential area so you don't have to deal with all the craziness of the main strip, yet, the main strip is a block away.  You can relax in the tub or take a nap in your room or go out for the night (there's great restaurants, stores, and casinos within walking distance).  Both are close so it's your decision!

We stayed here Valentines weekend it was the only affordable place where we didn't have to pay $250 a night. Overall it was pretty decent. Clean room but very small. The BIG plus is they allow dogs. They don't watch them anymore but can refer you to a wonderful cheap place that does.  2 blocks from the stateline and 3 blocks from the beach so perfect location. We'd stay there again for sure when we bring out dogs.

GREAT little cozy dog friendly room! Close to casinos, quarky and cute! Only 10$ for pet fee and lots of resident dogs to meet. Owner is great and we felt like family after meeting her. This is now our new spot when we come through area!

This place is pretty good for the price that you pay. The person at the front desk was great & so very helpful! We checked in 4 hours early because our two year old vomited all over herself. I asked the person at the front desk, if there was a restroom I could clean her up in. He said "No, but I could clean up a room that someone just check out of" He was so fast & clean out the bathroom enough for us to clean up our daughter & be on our way for the day. Later on he gave us the key to the same room. We spent one night there and it was fine for our little family. It was close to the main area & casinos. So we were able to walk to food & shopping & Heavenly.  I would recommend staying here if you are on a budget, but still need a warm, clean, friendly place to stay. Location is great!

Great Deal and very close to Stateline and Heavenly.  Don't spend big bucks on one of the casino rooms but save your money for the overpriced Heavenly lift tickets.  Anyways we were really late getting here Friday (blame it on prop 215) but I called and warned them of our late arrival 12:30am.  They accommodated  and the rooms were clean and we got up the mountain by 9am the next morning.

This was a great place for our stay in Tahoe.  The staff live there and are extremely nice folks, it's a really laid back and relaxing environment.  You can't beat the price and it's walking distance to the casinos and the South Lake Tahoe village.

The only real complaint we had is that the air conditioner was a little underpowered.  Leaving it turned on all day was an effective solution, however.

We were there during a concert weekend at the Harvey's casino and we could sit out on the patio furniture and listen to the nearby shows while enjoying a beer but it want so lots as to keep you from sleeping if you were so inclined to turn in early.

I have very mixed feelings about this place.  The only thing that is keeping me from rating this place with one star is the incredible deal we got ($45 per night for 4 nights in February).  The lady that runs this place lives in an apartment that is connected to the check-in office and has a interesting personality.  She was pleasant some of the time, but mostly quite brash.  The property appears run down and could use a little TLC.  The rooms are super old school and look straight out of the 70's.  They seem reasonably clean, warm, and include a refrigerator and microwave.  The bed is very hard and a little gross (looks like the comforter hasn't been changed out in 10 years).  Breakfast is awful.  I am a firm believer in if you are going to offer something, you should at least give a proper effort.  The spread was a single loaf of bread, english muffins, plain bagels, a couple cereals, decaf instant coffee (nasty), orange juice, 2% milk, shelf stable cream cheese/butter (gross), and bananas/apples (2 out of the 4 days).  The desk lady watched you the entire time on camera from the back room and if you tried to get more than a small glass of juice or more than one piece of fruit or bread, she would yell out and tell you to put it back.  Seriously crazy.  The location is great though.  Two blocks from the casinos and three from the Heavenly gondola.  Not sure I would ever stay here again and I definitely would not drag my wife into this place.

Agree with everyone here.  The owners made you feel so much like a family, including Hannah, the head dog.  Close to everything you need.  We forgot the dog bowls and they have a set for us to borrow.  The complimentary breakfast was simple but excellent. They even provide the rags to wipe off our snowboards.  Want to find a place to eat in the evening, just ask them.  Very friendly!  I would go back here again next time.

For less than $50 (winter) you get a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed next to the casinos and a few blocks from Lake Tahoe.  The people who run it are very nice and the bonus is a gift pack of travel-sized toothpaste, soap, hair gel, etc.  A great value in my opinion, and I've stayed in a lot of Tahoe motels.

The BF and I went here during August to check out the summer scene in Tahoe.  Yeah, it's older, but...if you're just looking for a place to hit the hay the end of the day, this place is great.  I liked that they provide breakfast for free (bagels/English muffins, cereal, coffee/tea/OJ type of stuff) and that all we paid was $100 for two nights in the summer.  With staying there comes the free passes to the private beach, which really just means a big strip of beach that a bunch of motels in the area buy into and their customers get free entrance and can rent canoes and kayaks and whatnots.  The owners were super nice about giving us tips on where to go (like telling us about the $10 prime rib at Lakeside Inn which is also great BTW) and making sure the hot tub was ready to go (I can attest to the fact that they do test the PH in the tub!).

KEY POINTS:  Easily walkable distance to the casinos and to the Heavenly Resort area, even though the area that 7 Seas is in is kinda sketch looking/rundown.  CHEAP.  Microwave/fridge in room.

Great hotel it is older and quaint, very clean!! Bed is comfortable, air conditioning works well, rooms for me were quiet, had the air on low, showers were hot, good bottle of wine, I needed a shaver they had one in the room already, best of all the staff and owners treated you like family! I WILL stay here again!!  Very friendly!!   Plus it is only a block away from the casinos

This is really between 3 and 4 stars. The closer to 4 stars probably comes from the nice surprise when I was expecting something less nice because our friends had reserved it and said it was pretty basic.

Well, it was not a 5-star hotel (it definitely looks pretty basic), but the owners were nice, the room was clean (even if somewhat small), sounds insulation between rooms was ok, location was good (close to beach, shops at the main street, casinos, etc), and the price was definitely not high.

And motels around it had vacancy, when 7 Seas Inn had not, which also says something. I might very well stay there again when visiting Tahoe.

These guys were advertised as "Dog Friendly". They were to an extent, but they kinda spooked our doggie over the weekend we stayed there.

First day we were there we left Madison (our doggie) with the manager and his dogs and went for dinner. We got back and she was lying by the car. We went to the manager and got the story. He said he took her on a walk (off-leash. he barely knew her) and she ran off. Luckily she ran back to the hotel and then recognized our car (smart doggie. I was surprised about that. I don't know why.).

Then it seems like she's skittish about going back to the manager's place when we want to go out the next day. Well, we pampered her in, but it definitely wasn't a bed of roses. Couple of altercations between our dog and his dogs before we even took off. They seemed to settle down after a few minutes. We asked and he said they were super friendly yesterday. Odd. She was all wound up when we got back too.

Her getting all spooked out was too bad because I really enjoyed the freedom of the doggie drop-off and then going to explore the area.

Our dog is a rescue and this was only a few months after adopting her so that probably impacted things as well. Not sure about her socialization as a pup when it matters most so these guys probably deserve another star . . . well except for that off-leash incident.

This place is awesome! Very cozy feeling when we arrived, Tim was very helpful as well as the other staff. Comfy king size bed and lots of towels. Very close to casinos and shopping areas. Enjoyed our stay very much. Neil young and Nora jones were playing in concert over the weekend and we enjoyed listening from the room! Will be returning here on our next trip! Thanks again for the hospitality!

Very nice staff, very helpful.  Not great breakfast, just sugary breads and cereals, and bananas.  Blah coffee.  I was comfortable enough to sleep well, but my husband thought the bed was terribly uncomfortable and slept very little the 3 nights we were there.  Our room smelled bad, the AC was pumping out a urine-like smell.  They tried to clean it for us, like I said very helpful. It was better, especially at first, but it still smelled once the orangey cleaner smell wore off.  We just got used to it.  It's just an old building with old equipment I guess.  The shower and toilet worked fine though at least.  Nice location.  And like I said, very nice staff.  Very dog friendly.  Glad to have a mini fridge in there.  Nice garden.

stayed here once in the 2010 winter season. very very nice/friendly staff, very accomdating! breakfast was above par compared to what you'd find at other nearby motels. they had fruit, cereal, milk, good coffee, bread, bagel, etc. the rooms have fireplace (or at least some of them). it is walkable to gondola and food. however, the price can be a bit more than nearby motels (which is expected if you compare the quality), i just dont know if i can justify spending more on a bed for sleeping...the one thing that kinda bugged me was the parking lot, its on a decline from street level, on that one weekend we visited, there was snow over night and getting out up the hill back onto the street level was a bit of a hassle, BUT the friendly staff (think his name is john? middle age gentleman with little/no hair, glasses) helped us out a great deal.

the rooms are very clean, very well stocked!

We had intended to go to Reno for the night but after getting stuck on highway 50 for 4 hours while caltrans was doing avalanche control we were too tired to continue driving.

Since we wanted to do some gambling, we chose 7 Seas based on it's proximity to the casinos (1 block away from Harvey's). The $49 rate sealed the deal. Our room was clean but somewhat outdated, the bed was comfortable but the pillows were a bit lumpy. Bonus 1/2 star for having a copy of "The Bathroom Reader" by the toilet!

Free WiFi is available and there was a good signal from our second floor room.

To sum it up - it was a great deal and I'd definitely return (with my own pillow)

If you have a dog or maybe not even have a dog with you this is a cool place to stay.   My sister and I decided to take a weekend trip to Tahoe and I had my Pomeranian (small dog) with me.
It's an older Motel but the owners seem to put a lot of heart into it.  Almost like you're staying at someone's home.
In the morning they have lots of breakfast type stuff to eat, once again it felt like you were in someone's house not at a motel.

I agree with Nicole...what the heck was Andrew thinking, need to take some responsibility.

Talk about dog friendly! Within 5 minutes of our arrival, our wonderful hosts knew our little dog's name, and treated him like a long lost friend. There is a small grassy area in front of the office with a red fire hydrant in the middle. The perfect welcome for any dog! The host and hostess made us humans feel pretty welcome too. In front of the office is a covered patio area complete with barbeque, tables, chairs and a water fountain that are very inviting and create the perfect summer resort atmosphere. They offer a continental breakfast with decent coffee. Our room was upstairs and we had our own patio area with a small table and chairs so that we could sit outside of our room and have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. We spent some time walking around the neighborhood and did not see any place as nice and cozy as ours. It is a 5 minute walk to the casinos in one direction and a private beach in the other direction. I highly recommend with wonderful inn if you want a cozy, clean, friendly and adorable stay in this price range.

We stayed at the 7 Seas Inn and were looking forward to spending our 5 night / 6day vacation at the inn based on the raving reviews on TripAdvisor, and our interaction with the owner during our booking process. This is the first time that I have written a bad review on TripAdvisor.

We checked in at 3PM and were given a very outdated room Number 117. The beds were worn, uncomfortable and we felt the springs. The shower stall was tiny, one person could barely fit in the shower. There was a lot of noise from the water fountain downstairs that kept on going all night that also interrupted our sleep. Moreover, the paint in the bathroom door was chipped off. The white paint in the furniture (night stands, drawers, desk) was chipped and worn in many parts. The only chair in the room appeared very old and we were afraid to sit on it. We had to sit on the bed rather than on the chair. The room is very old and tired. The carpet was dirty. Furthermore, on our second day, I noticed that the bathroom sink had not been properly cleaned.

After our very bad first night, we spoke with one of the owners about the uncomfortable beds and the noise from the water fountain, and he told me that we could not move rooms until our 4th night since all the rooms were taken. We saw a lot of people coming and leaving each day, and were hoping that we were given priority since we were staying at the inn for 5 nights. We spoke again with the other two owners the next day about the room situation, and they did not care to change our room. Again, we were told that the inn was full. The owners did not accommodate our request until our 4th night, when we were finally given a better room, with a better bed, and a regular sized shower stall and bathroom for the 2 remaining nights. However, while taking a shower, the water temperature alternated between very hot and cold by itself.

The continental breakfast was adequate, we got beach towels, a beach pass, and the room had Wifi.

Based on our experience, we don't recommend the Seven Seas Inn. There are plenty of choices in the same area in South Lake Tahoe.

Stayed here partially because of the positive reviews.  The room was like walking into a small dark box.   The room is so small that the only space is a one way lane around three sides of the bed.  It smelled like a wet dog with a strong smell of room deodorizer mixed in.  There is little space to store belongings.  The amenities consisted of a small microwave stacked on a small refrigerator..  The bathroom was reasonably clean but furnished in the style of a gas station bathroom.  The window ledge had to be used as there was no vanity at all.  The continental breakfast with very limited and best skipped.  Watch out where you park.  We were in a regular space but got totally blocked off by another car.   I would not stay there again.

This place is adorable, and very quirky. The rooms are themed and fun. The breakfast has great options and runs till a decent time. The beach is awesome, and the people who run it are very nice and willing to answer questions. Rooms are clean also, a huge plus.

Warning: Don't book through Orbitz. We did that, and the reservation did not go through . Luckily, they had one extra room for us. They said this has happened more than once.

Experience and price are important to me. Although the 1970s vibe of this place might turn some people off, the rooms were clean, the staff very helpful, and the continental breakfast free! Our room had a microwave, two queen beds, and a thermostat activated "wood burning stove" looking thing. The location was great, the staff *very* friendly, and I like the yesteryear vibe. The only way my visit could have been better was to have the interior a little more updated. I will come here again.

We were coming up to Lake Tahoe for the American Century Celebrity Golf tournament and were looking for an inexpensive place to stay for a couple of nights. I found this motel on line and was impressed with the reviews so we thought we would give it a try. Although the motel is admittedly one of the older places along the lake, it is well maintained and very charming. The owner and staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms are small but clean. There is a small bar next to the office that is open from 4pm to 10pm every day serving beer, wine and cocktails from $3 to $5, and self-serve breakfast (bagels, toast, pastries, cereal, coffee, OJ, fresh fruit) from 7am to 10 am daily. There is plenty of covered seating on the patio near the office to enjoy your breakfast or cocktail, and the resident dog, Hannah, is a joy. It is a pet friendly place with a small grassy area for your pet to play, complete with it's own fire hydrant. It's located about a block from the Edgewood Tahoe golf course and Harvey's resort and we were treated to the music from a concert at Harvey's outdoor amphitheater and an impromptu, amazing fireworks display one night. The clientele includes people from all over the world and we met some very nice people during our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend the Seven Seas Inn to anyone looking for an alternative to the expensive resorts at Lake Tahoe.

Walkable to bars and grub..................................check.
Very short drive to other essentials....................check.
Awesome morning continental breakfast.............check.

Seriously, I truly hesitate in writing this review because I don't want to run the risk of not getting my regular room.  While I have no point of comparison with the multitude of small hotels surrounding 7 Seas I can assuredly state that 7 Seas provides an experience that looking anywhere else would be pointless.

Please keep in mind that it is old school.  It is not updated but kept up very well...very well.  They deserve your business just avoid going when I'm there so I can get my room!

This place has pleasant rooms and a nice hot-tub open until 10pm.  The owners and operators are very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them while having a drink in their cosy little bar  We also appreciated that they let us keep the car in the parking lot on the day we left until after we had finished skiing.  The location is also great.  It's a very short walk to the heavenly village, gondola, and stateline casinos, so it's perfect for snowy periods when you don't want to be using your car when you don't have to.  The only downside is that the parking lot has a slope which isn't great in the snow - but then you should be equiped with tire chains anyway if you are staying up here in winter.

Positive: Clean room with mini fridge and microwave, walking distance from the casinos, shops, food places and beach. A dog friendly place, complimentary breakfast, spa, quiet spot.

Negative: Squeaky noise from the walk way upstairs and noise from people that going in and out of the room in the middle of the night. ( I guess they need to upgrade their doors).

Everything else is great. Definitely will go back, but next time we would want to stay upstairs.

Owners / staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great people, great location, excellent value place to stay.  I got caught in traffic coming up from the Bay Area and arrived after midnight.  Wasn't a problem at all.  Breakfast in the morning was really good.  Fresh fruit, cakes, coffee, hot chocolate...very nice.   Had a few questions about the area..the staff was more than happy to share their experience.  Overall a very pleasant stay, this is my new 'go to' budget hotel up in Tahoe.

First off, know my bias. I would rather stay at a private, eccentric hotel than a swanky cookie cutter chain. Now that you know...

We really enjoyed our stay at this privately run inn. It's located just a few blocks from Harrah's and all the shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and had tons of honest, helpful advice. The room was clean, if a bit "quirky" The towels were big and fluffy. They had tons of great freebies including Ax body wash, nice razors, and Cliff bars for breakfast. We definitely felt like we got a lot of bang for our buck here.

We stayed here over the weekend for my birthday because we had our pitbull nala. They were so kind to us and our dog , and we felt so comfortable. The room was comfortable and cheap. Right near the casinos but far enough away that we could walk only a few blocks to a really nice beach. Over all I am very happy that we stayed here because we were actually able to bring our dog with us to enjoy the lake and had a nice homely place to relax. Thank you!!!!

7 Seas Inn is so good it is worthy of my first ever Yelp. Cheap lodging doesn't get much better than this, anywhere. For an average of $60 a night my girlfriend and I enjoyed a comfortable bed, a fireplace in our room, hot showers, strong wifi signal, free continental breakfast and a hot tub that was both functional and clean! The hosts are very friendly people who let us change our reservation a few times for free since we kept our vacay on a loose schedule. They even let my girlfriend ship her new snowboard to them, and they kept it safe for us until we arrived. Location is on point too- 2 blocks to the casinos and Heavenly base or to the beach in the opposite direction. There are also shuttles nearby to get you to Kirkwood or Northstar and away from all the gapers at Heavenly, if you feel so inclined. Did I mention they also gave us a free bottle of wine? Yep. Eat your heart out overpriced resorts bent on creating the illusion that guests are living in luxury, 7 Seas is the real deal! And it's super cheap! Now if Tahoe got better snow this year, I might have asked about declaring residency. No, seriously.

The customer service here cannot be beat.  The inn is not the Ritz Carlton, but it's very cozy.  People should not have unreal expectations expecting marble pillars and tempur-pedic beds.  However,  the room was impeccably clean, the bed was very cozy, the room was just right, and the staff could lead a world class seminar in customer service.  We felt like we were staying at a friend's house they were so nice.  We arrived at around midnight and Timothy greeted us without skipping a beat.  You would not have known it was the middle of the night.  The next morning, Grant was a great chat while we had our continental breakfast: oatmeal, several types of english muffins and bagels, cereal,  fruit and fresh coffee.

We checked out in the morning and Grant kindly watched our bags for us while we hit the slopes for the rest of the day.  When we came to pick up our suitcases, without skipping a beat- Grant and Carolyn offered us a room to freshen up in.  Even gave us fresh towels and soap to shower before we headed to the airport.

Combine the reasonable price, the clean cozy rooms, and the outstanding customer service- and you have one of the best places we have ever stayed.  Honestly this vacation was more memorable than any stay we have had at any fancy-pants vegas hotel.  The people are what make it worth it.  We will definitely be coming back.

I arrived with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised after meeting Caroline and the warmth she radiated.  The hosts care a great deal about their pets and the room was very clean, and my standards are incredibly high.    I rented for four nights and really appreciated the level of cleanliness and hospitality!  If you are looking for a quiet retreat to write and relax, definitely recommend coming here during the shoulder season which I've been told is right now.

1. The hosts are very easy to talk with, friendly, knowledgeable, and feel like family.  2. There is a beautiful lake with stunning views close by.
3. If you are into the casinos, both Harvey's and Harrah's are within a five minute walk.
4. Heavenly village is two blocks away with a cinema, supermarket, and decent variety of food choices.
5. Continental breakfast is light fare, but still, it's free and available until 11am!
6. There was some difficulty yanking my snow chains off and after spending a good twenty minutes unsuccessfully attempting to locate the hooks on the back of my tires, Grant took less than one minute to work his magic and free my vehicle.  Awesome!
7. After we got snowed in, Grant took the machine to blow snow out of the parking lot even though my car really didn't need it.  Caroline even offered me gloves and brushes to scrape the snow off my windshield.

For a solo traveler, this struck me as gold for the price.  The fireplace provides the heat and the bathroom, linens, and towels look very clean.

In the center of lake tahoe, very convenient location. Pets allowed with fees. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival and our pup was greeted as well with treats! They texted us (as everyone stated) when the room was ready ...very nice that they do that. The rooms themselves were decent, not the cleanest, but for the price, I'd say it's worth it.

Just wanted to say this place was a big suprize. We called last minute and was able to get a room. We were there for the golf tournament. Carolyn  was very nice and helpful on the phone when we made our reservations. The rooms were very clean. I thought the rooms would smell like dogs  but it didn't . Loved the outside area very well maintained. It was nice and relaxing. Diffently will say again.

Great location, walking distance from casinos.  This place is run by really nice people.  On the drive up I received a text from the front desk, since we were driving after work and had a late check-in.  I thought that was a nice touch.  Overall the room was a little kitschy, but I like that.  This place has everything you need, and free breakfast.   For the price, it can't be beat.  I would definitely stay again.

I have never stayed at an Inn before, however I was not disappointed.  The staff is really helpful for getting to know the area, the people staying at the inn were friendly (the environment was so hospitable) and it was just a great place to get away. The rooms were clean, the outdoor seating area was tranquil, and the bar serving there was reasonably priced! Will definitely stay here again.

OK, maybe the decor is a little "quirky" (think leopard pattern fleece blankets), but the rooms are clean, the location is hard to beat, and the value is great. The manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about options in the area. There is a small breakfast room that doubles as a bar in the evening. Would stay there again.

I was in town for a wedding, and the resort that the wedding was being held at was pretty pricey, so I was looking for a cheaper place to stay the night before that was closer to the lake itself. My usual worry with budget accommodations is whether they will be clean or not. Luckily, 7 Seas Inn was worth the risk. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff was extremely hospitable. The breakfast had an assortment of cereals, bagels and fruit. The location was great - close to the beach, casinos, and food. I was very satisfied with my stay and felt that it was a great value for the price.

There were two things that led me to this place: positive reviews and price! Upon check-in the gentlemen handling the front desk was welcoming and very helpful. However, all of these extra perks people mentioned were not offered to us (No beach towel or personal care goodie bag)

Walking distance from "private" beach
Walking distance from casinos
Walking distance from The Gondola at Heavenly
Free Breakfast (pleasantly surprised)
Clean + (bathrooms seemed to be recently updated)

There was a stingy smell upon entering the room (1. You get used to it fast 2.Who goes to Tahoe to stay in the room anyway?)
The AC does have a urine like smell when turned on; however, after a while it goes away. (The AC unit too small to cool entire room)
The room itself a little old/worn but for the price... (can't complain)

There are plenty of places to stay nearby but I will definitely come back here.
Its a bargain motel price 3 star service!

Very nice place to stay. We were staying here in December for one week and went skiing every day. Location is very convenient: within walking distance from the Heavenly village, and probably 10 minutes drive away from the California lodge and about 15-20 minutes drive away from the Stagecoach lodge.

The staff is very friendly, breakfast is very good (bread, bagels, fruits, jam, honey, oatmeals, etc.), rooms are small but clean and have everything we needed. The heater worked well, so it always was warm in the room; the refrigerator was small but still fine; the microwave also was good.

So overall a great value for the money, and definitely a very good option if you are looking for some hotel to stay while skiing at Heavenly.

Came into town around 1am on a Wednesday, found this gem through yelp and I am glad I did. Mid week rooms are cheaper around 50 which includes breakfast, room was clean and nicely decorated, with its own gas fireplace, which was nice and homey, premium channels on tv, free wifi, and even some nasal strips for heavy sleepers. I would and probably will return to this nice lake side hotel.

If you want to stay at a friendly, clean, affordable, dog-lovin' Inn, this is thee place!! First time ever staying here, and cannot say enough about the extraordinary hospitality. Carolyn, Grant & Tim make you feel right at home, and are unbelievably nice and accommodating. The location is about as good as it gets, too, a block to Harvey's, and a few down to Lake Tahoe where a beautiful, private beach awaits, you even get a beach pass at check-in. The Inn has a quaint little bar if you wanna watch a game, free breakfast, and jacuzzi. My daughter spilled soy sauce on her fav shirt, no problem, washer & dryer in bar's bathroom. We really felt at home, and while you can pay a pretty penny to stay somewhere else, you can't buy the kind of goodness that Carolyn, Grant & Tim so readily offer.

LOVED this place. While not full of granite and glitz, it was truly comfy, homey and we hated to leave.  All the little touches such as cleaning rags for spills and puppy feet, water bowls outside for the dogs as well as potty patrol bags were conveniently placed for ease of use.

Clean and tidy,  ashtrays were abundant for us outside smokers and the friendliness of Carolyn, Grant, and Timothy made me feel like I was spending time with long time friends versus motel owners.  The king size bed was so comfortable for my bad back.that I hated to get up! A frig and microwave in the room was all I really needed to make our stay perfect.  I, too, received a text from Timothy saying our room was ready early should we arrive before our scheduled check in.

I have NOTHING but good to say about our stay.  It is within walking distance of shopping,  eateries, gaming but far enough off the strip that it was pleasantly quiet upon return from town. There were more than enough TV channels and room for my dog's portable crate so she slept as well as we did!

The breakfast provided was just right, since we ate our big meals in town and this just made the start of the day nicer and taking hot bagels and cream cheese, juice and coffee to the room was a snap.

Carolyn, Grant and Timothy are truly the best hosts one could ask for, do a great job in making one feel like they matter and I cannot wait to go back in the future for a stay again!

Just stayed at this hotel for Thanksgiving weekend. I go to south lake often and stay at pet friendly hotels but wanted to find one walking distance to all the casinos, night life and heavenly. The hotel looks very old and run down on the outside. It is old, but it is ran by very nice people and they keep it very clean.

The beds are comfy and we had four pillows. All rooms are dog friendly. The TV is flat screen and our room had a fire place, room 107. Again, the room is very clean. However, the shower is old and like the one you would find in a motor home but clean and has HOT water at all hours.

The Breakfast room is funny, it has a bar, so you can have a drink or enjoy breakfast with no view. I really like the staff, they were all so nice and gave me extra makeup wipes.

The rooms do not have any view. This hotel is great for a skier, they give you rag towels to clean dry your skis or to wipe your dog down.

And has an old but clean hot tub for four people.

This is a great hotel to sleep at, not really enjoy the ambiance, but to get a good night sleep after having late night drinks at the casinos and to bring your dog.

There is a 10x15 area of grass to let your dog potty. The pet rent was only a one time charge, not a daily addition. This can creep up on some hotels like highland down the street that is also dog friendly.

Over all, this was a great place with no bugs, good heater, good hot water, good coffee, OK bed and pillows and over all comfortable to sleep at.

I don't review often on here, but I felt compelled to do so for two reasons.

1. I actually used yelp in order to make a final decision on where to stay for our recent Tahoe trip. The great reviews helped me to take the plunge here.

2. The actual experience was great, and I'll detail it quickly.

I booked the room a couple months in advance. About a week before the trip, they sent an email to confirm everything with me. I like that since it assures me that I am "good-to-go" as far as the room is concerned. I had also marked the option for early check-in.

The day of, we had arrived in the Tahoe vicinity relatively early. No less than about 5 minutes away from 7 Seas I got a text saying that my room was ready. Perfect! We parked, I went into the office, filled out the form, and had my keys handed to me. Quick easy and painless. Timothy was great and he laid out all of the local attractions  and things to do.

Now here's the fun part. So the first night, my friend got a little "sick" from some certain types of imbibements out on the town. Without going into details, he made quite the mess that night. We let them know right away, and they took care of it with no problems. Then, on the second night, another friend made a different mess in the room. He told them as well (so there was no surprises for them) and they cleaned it up no problem.

We felt so bad, and I thought they would hate us for doing that to their rooms, but they were just as friendly and nice as ever before even after that.

The breakfast is good (continental fare, with some hidden treasures like marmite and nutella), drinks are available in the bar if you don't want to venture too far, the jacuzzi is nice, the place is clean, the wifi works, the place is easy to get to from anywhere, and it is located blocks from the beach, the casinos, Heavenly Village, and Hiking.

The main reason to stay is for the staff though, as they were very nice and accommodating!

This place is fantastic. The rooms are cute and a good size group of 4. They have tons of channels on the TV, and also have free breakfast in the morning. This hotel is very homely if that is what you're looking for. Also, the staff is great! They texted me the day of arrival at 1030am saying I can check in sooner, and they were super friendly.

The only 2 bad things I really noticed were the beds were kind of hard (wasn't that bad though) and the shower is dark because there is no direct light into it.

I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to save some $ and have a good time.

The 7 Seas is a more budget-minded inn/motel in S. Lake Tahoe. We booked a couple of weeks in advance, though it was officially the off-season (early October).

The rooms are simple, nothing spectacular, but they do have a jacuzzi available if you need a soak. The beach/nautical theme was charming, as were the staff, who were friendly and welcoming. They have a tiny little bar that doubles as a breakfast area in the morning, and is open late enough for a nightcap. They have beer, wine, and mixed drinks made by a friendly and charismatic bartender. We stayed and ordered a late cocktail and chatted with him while watching the baseball game, which was on the television that they managed to fit into this teeny bar.

The breakfast is good, with coffee, cereal (hot and cold), bagels and toast with myriad toppings. If you ask him, the bartender, who is also manning the controls at breakfast, will probably make you a nice bloody mary or mimosa, and might even join you for one himself. The inn is very close to everything in SLT, including casinos and ski areas. The closest ski area is only a couple of blocks away, and you can walk to just about everything (or drive 5 minutes to it, if you are the lazy type).

This is definitely worth a stay, especially if you are on a budget but don't want to end up in a place without any personality, like a Motel 6. We'd definitely come back next time we're in the area.

I rented a room here with two Queen beds for about $70, a little cheaper than Motel 6 or Super 8. But the room was so much nicer. Also, this place is family run and the dad and son are super nice. The inn is also close enough where you can walk to the casinos at South Lake Tahoe.

The bathroom was just remodeled, although the toilet had problems flushing. It eventually overflowed and flooded the entire bathroom, but the owners were nice enough to clean it up for us.

And there's also free breakfast, although don't expect too much food. They had cereal, bagels, toast, milk, juice, coffee, and fruit.

Plus it's pet friendly!

My boyfriend wanted to go to South Lake Tahoe for his birthday and I don't have a job at the moment so I wanted to find a cheap (but NICE) hotel for us to stay in. He wanted to go to a different hotel that was pricier but had bad reviews, and this one was cheaper with good reviews so i went with my gut and chose 7 Seas Inn at Tahoe and could not have been HAPPIER! He loved it, too, which was awesome.
You really only need a hotel room to sleep in because I would hope you weren't spending all day cooped up in there!

-friendly manager
-close to casino's/lake (walking distance!)
-breakfast in the morning that lasts until 11!
-bar at night if you're interested

-can hear loud creaks from above room occasionally if on bottom floor
-can hear people walking outside if on bottom floor

Our room was 102 right next to the bar and on the bottom floor, so it was a little annoying in the morning when I was trying to sleep and people were walking back and forth to go to the breakfast room/coming down the stairs going to the parking lot. But for $67 for one night, I could not complain...just means I had to get my ass up out of bed and start the day. I would definitely come back again!! And I encourage anyone who might be on a budget and wants something NICE and clean! I was skeptical at first but I couldnt be any happier with my choice!

It really breaks my heart to write this review because of all the great reviews I've read about this place. A lot of the reviews said that the owners were SO kind to them so it made me really sad when the female owner was a little rude to me. The male owner was very very kind to me but as for the wife, not so much. Thats why it was upsetting to see everyone writing reviews about her that they were treated like family....and I wasn't :( I guess maybe she isn't a morning person (apparently her husband is the morning exployee and he wasn't at the front desk when I arrived. So when I rang the bell, her first EXACT response to me was "What is it?".....off the bat I already felt that bad vibe.

I had two options available for presidents day weekend: two queen beds or two queen beds w/ a fireplace. Since some of the reviews recommended a room w/ a fireplace...I booked that one. But sadly when I arrived, I was given a room without a fireplace. I tried to show her my email that said I booked one with a fireplace but she didn't even bother looking at my phone & just explained to me that some one else booked that room before me. Fine, no big deal I am a very understanding person so I let it go. What upset me was that I still paid the same amount for the room without the fireplace. That was completely unfair.....if I had known this, I would of just saved myself the trouble (AND MONEY) by booking the room without the fireplace from the get go.

***I will post up pictures***Now as for the room, I am only speaking in regards to room 104. Honestly, the room next to us looked perfectly fine (I was able to peek in because the blinds were open & it was vacant at the time), but our room was not at all welcoming. After a 4 hour drive all you want to do is lie down & rest. But the cheetah blankets looked very raggedy & old. And the sheets under were dirty. If you don't believe me, look at my pictures. And I know this is uncomfortable to say out loud...but I swear there were a couple strands of short hair in the sheets too....either it was pubic hairs or a mans short hair, I wouldn't know. So as you can see (left bed), my boyfriend and I drove over to Kmart just to buy brand new sheets & a heated blanket for the weekend. As much I wanted to complain to them about the room, I am not that type of person. And I was already upset about having to pay the same amount for a room without a fireplace...so I didn't want to argue with the female owner again. All in all, my experience at this inn was not comfortable :( I didn't even feel comfortable walking without any socks on because the room/bathroom didn't feel sterile. Sad to say, but I will not be coming back.

Upon checking out the female owner didn't say a single word to me. Like I said, the male owner & even the son I believe were all smiles and were very kind to me so this review has nothing to do with them. When I dropped off the keys the man said thank you and have a very safe drive so I truly appreciated that.

My wife and I just stayed at 7 Seas and the whole crew was great! We had our fluffy white dog with us and they treated him like one of the gang.

Located right within walking distance to the casinos and to the lake, 7 Seas is very affordably priced. With that, you don't expect divine finishes. But we had a nice room with a gas fireplace and a king size bed that was sturdy and easy to fall asleep on.

The bathroom was large, shower was dated but worked well. Breakfast in the morning was tasty, nice selection of freshly baked breads to go with cereal, toast, fruit, etc. Grant and Tim tend to the bar when you get back at night, and they have some reasonably priced beers and wines.

Definitely check out 7 Seas for comfortable, pet friendly South Lake digs!

This place is it great place to stay yes it's older but they're working on fixing it up last time I was there they had a couple rooms that they were working on they told me that my room was done just minutes before I came so was really happy to have the updated room maybe the towels aren't the greatest and maybe . You don't like the bedding or the small room but for the price and the dog friendliness it's a great place considering that the owner runs around with head chopped off to do everything she can to make your stay perfect she is older and can't do everything you like the way you like she really tries for the price that you pay for a room you should just be happy to have a family environment if you have a problem with the room and just ask she will fix it she has for me with a smile on her face sometimes I've stayed here many of times and yes she is not always the friendliest but we all have bad days this is a great place to stay and will always stay here when I'm in Southlake better than that $250 night Hotel what they really don't care about you you're just money in the pocket here at Seven Seas your family

I have mixed feelings about this place.  The owners are older and work very hard.  I noticed that a few people in other reviews thought Caroline was rude, but I realized after talking with her several times it's just the way she comes off.  She will try to help as much as she can.  I think she is spread a little thin though with everything I've seen her take care of.  She handles the front desk, answers phones, and I even saw her cleaning rooms.  That's too much for one person.

But this is what I liked about the place:
- Great location (free passes for entrance on the beach)
- Easy walk to beach (Beach House Restaurant for burgers and basic food)
- Easy walk to Heavenly Village (Driftwood cafe for breakfast and lunch, Blue Dog Pizza for Gluten Free Pizza, cute shops, catch the Gondola)
- Easy walk to the Casinos
- Microwave and Fridge in each room (my fridge had a hard time with the door staying closed though)

What I didn't like:
- I didn't feel the rooms were clean enough.  I found hair on the toilet seat (even though it had a strip of paper put on it that said sanitary or something), and I found hair in the shower.
- My son was not feeling well so one day we were in the room all day.  We had our windows open to enjoy the weather.  I didn't hear any vacuums running to clean the rooms.
- The fan in my room hasn't been cleaned in a good 6 months - probably over a year.  It really grossed me out so I didn't turn it on.
- I appreciated the cozy feel they were trying to do with the tables outside the rooms and seating areas, but unfortunately people would go out and smoke right out side.  The space between each room isn't very big so when you have your window open, the smoke would come in the room - not ideal with an ill child.

The rates are reasonable.  Location is great.  The place is good for what it's for.  I'm not sure it's worth all the 5 star reviews though.

Oh, and I made my reservation online and didn't realize until the morning I had checked out I never got my free bottle of wine... :-(

Stayed here for 1 only one night.  I really liked the friendly owner and the rooms were pleasant enough.  TV had some issues and we were in the handicap accessible room which had a shower that spilled a lot of water, but again, I really felt good to stay at this hotel.  The bed was very soft and I was anxious for the next day, so did not sleep well; however, my wife slept like a rock.

They do have WIFI for their guests.

We did not stick around in the morning for their continental breakfasts, but they have one starting at 7am.

My friend referred me to this establishment as it was near the center of town and very close to where I needed to attend a conference at a very expensive hotel. It turned out that my selection to stay here was more than financially advantageous as I found a very friendly and helpful owner who ran facility and the staff were equally yoked. I didn't need the convenience to pay so much more and only get a little more; the dollars didn't justify the drastic difference. The bed was great and the rooms were cozy yet rustic with a good amount of space. The evening offered adult beverages there and the morning offered a larger than usual breakfast option; just the coffee cups were too small for my needs away from there having a variety of creamers to match my palate. The hot tub was very temping as well. The price of the rooms here I would consider just right to get away and not break you for the room alone, I can enjoy the surrounding too!

But beware, don't come here to ruin the peaceful and private location, the bouncer is brutal!!!!

My stay accomplished the desired effects and I will return!

Second time I've stayed here. Just wanted a cheap place for a dudes trip. The owners are hella nice and have bagels, coffee and juice ready for you downstairs.  They even hang out with you and make sure that you have everything that you need. You can tell that they actually enjoy running the place, not just working there for some absent owner.
Plus, we've never got a noise complaint. We don't blast music, but we do sometimes stay up drinking till earlier than I'm proud of. Most places complain when we are just talking after 0300.
Hot tub is small, but outside, hot and works well.  Didn't use it this last time.
Walkable to Harrahs/Harvey's.

I'll definitely stay there again.
