A friend and I decided to make a last minute weekend trip to tahoe.  Every casino was booked.  We found this place, just a few blocks from the casinos.  Awesome staff and very clean and newly updated rooms.  Close to the lake too.

I've been staying at the Alenrose Inn for several years now, mostly for last-minute ski trips to Heavenly and Kirkwood.  Hannah, the owner, is definitely the highlight.  She has a very warm personality and really goes out of her way to be helpful and to make guests feel welcome.

The rooms are always very clean and well-maintained.  Hannah, has also decorated each one with a different theme.

Alpenrose Inn is a fantastic little place to comfortably spend a few days hiking the Sierras and then walking to an outdoor concert (Yay Sugarland!) at Harvey's Stateline. Super convenient location, comfortable accommodations and dog-friendly to a fault + free beach passes to a people only beach that's within walking distance. Karen specifically was fantastic, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and obvious she cares immensely about the Inn itself. The room was super clean, newly appointed bathroom and fun decor-wise. Not overly glitzy/modern like a chain but homey in a favorite relative's house kinda way. In-room fridge, microwave, comfy beds and a great super-hot-as-you-want-and-all-sorts-of-pressure shower topped the room highlights. Also, the attention to personal detail was seen at Alpenrose Inn as opposed to a chain - how many other hotels would ask if you wanted your dog checked in on/walked while you attend a 2-1/2 hour concert and at the same time would you feel 100% comfortable if they did - and that's if they even accepted dogs without a $100 extra per night fee? Additionally, very open feeling to the entire place, free continental breakfast and upper deck with a great view of the lake/sunset/sunrise are extra added benefits. My friend and I met some like-minded hikers that we swapped stories and tips with, so a wonderful place to meet new friends as well. Would totally stay here again - it's a safe, quiet, relaxing place to hang your hat for a couple nights in South Lake Tahoe.

Could not beat this place for the price. It has a very homey feel to it, which makes sense as Hannah's (the owner) main advertising slogan is, "European Hospitality". She does a very good job at keeping the place very clean and in good shape. She was helping paint the outside when we checked in. Also, they are currently in the process of redoing quite a few of the rooms. The place is a little different then your typical hotel, which is nice if you have to stay in as many hotels as I do. The bed was comfortable, and my wife and I had a nice, peaceful, quite night's sleep. You are not going to find a 40" LCD TV in your room but we did have a television with cable. We were even able to walk to the Stateline Casinos from the inn (about a 10 minute walk). I plan to revisit this place in winter.

Hannah was a very accommodating host.  She was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and location is ideal. Just minutes away walking distance from the Casino, beach, or shopping center at the gondola to Heavenly. Also moderately priced, not too expensive. We'd come back!

Extremely clean place! On the other hand, the room was somewhat dated. For example, in our room the outlets plugs were not wired for grounded plugs (3 prong). Luckily I carry adapters with me. Also, the TV was an old CRT and the remote was so worn that the markings weren't visable. Hannah was accommodating and loaned us a portable DVD play. Room was pricey but we were there between Christmas and New Years. Cleanliness made up for it, especially since the townhouse we rented on Craigslist for the same time period was so filthy that we opted for an alternative and that's how (via YELP) we came onto Alpenrose.

I have not been to Tahoe in like FOREVER! I went up during V day weekend with my friend. We called on our way up and booked one of the last rooms. We arrived earlier then expected and were able to get an early check in.  The room was super cute. Totally not what we expected. I would say  the Alpenrose Inn  is one of the best finds I have come across on Yelp. So glad I found it and whenever I am back in Tahoe this will be the place that I will be staying at. I was just charmed by it.

Another great weekend in Tahoe, and of course a clean, reasonable, cozy room at Hannah's Alpenrose Inn.Everytime I have stayed here over the past 10-plus years, it's always nice to come back to a clean, warm environment, and Hannah and the staff are always wonderful people, and they can always give tips and advise on where, or what to do.

We stayed here for a few nights during late fall.  Very cozy, clean, quaint and quiet.  Compared to the plethora of other hotels in the SLT area, this place feels like a four star establishment.  I wish every hotel room had a fireplace, clean sheets and bathrooms, but alas in the city of dumpy 60's hotels winners like this one are few and far between.

Within walking distance of SLT Blvd and the casinos.  It's a little far if you're trying to get to the Gondola in ski boots.  If you're not planning to stay in one of the casinos, this is the place I'd recommend without hesitation.

This is a welcome place to pull up to after the long drive up to South Lake Tahoe.  The staff is super friendly and it is right down the block from the lake.  The casinos and commercial area are close by too, walking distance if you are up for it, but otherwise just a short drive.

They provide a free breakfast in the morning in the front office...nothing fancy, just pastries, coffee, tea, and cereal, but it was a great way to get the day started before heading out.  The owner, Hannalore, is super knowledgeable about the area, and was happy to point some of the lesser known sites out on the map.

The prices are great too.  For a romantic getaway or a family vacation, this seems like the spot to be if you don't want to be on the main South Lake Tahoe strip..

    Great place to stay!

After being a bit skeptical of review sites, I must say that the Alpenrose has made me a believer.  We needed a place to stay for one night in Tahoe, so not wanting to spend $600 for a last minute reservation at one of the casinos, I checked some reviews and decided to give it a shot.

This is a small, well located, inn.  Hannah was a great and accomodating hostess.

The rooms were very clean and well maintained.  More importantly, the beds were super comfortable.

We will definitely stay there again.

Came here because of all the good reviews.
Disappointed because everything else was perfect for our trip except staying here.
We have dogs. I was not allowed to book any of the king size bed rooms Fine. When I checked in, Hanna told me the room she's giving me is not specious but at least it's dog friendly. I think the room size is ok, but since she said that it made me feel I was put into a !@#$% room that we dog owners have to stay in.
I was right. I don't know how other rooms are like but the one I stayed in was like a 2 stars old hotel room.
Carpet looks dirty, room feels old, fake flowers are dusty, shower area is tiny, oh and you know what? there's a huge dead bug by the window!
We could hear people walking upstairs above us while it's sleeping time. People came to get ice which is right by our room. Or their people doing things in the kitchen which is also near our room.
In the morning I could hear someone's dog barking non-stop and scratching the door.
Hanna is a nice lady though, that's the reason why I don't want to give it a 1 or 2 stars rating. This place is in a nice location.

We just got back from a weekend at the Alpenrose and we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the the "Tahoe Cabin" room which has a king bed and a kitchenette. We were traveling with out dog and we loved that we could have him stay with us for $10 a night. As other reviews said, you do need to book a room on the first floor but we liked our room very much.

The room was very cozy and the kitchenette was very nice to have. The room and the bathroom were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary wi-fi was great and the TV has a VCR and DVD player. There are even movies available in the office.

Hannah was so helpful and kind and told us about some great places to walk in the area. I really enjoyed staying here and I know we will be back soon!

Because we were traveling with our dog, I booked our stay at Alpenrose Inn.  What a great choice!   We stayed in Room A, a King with kitchenette which is one of the designated pet rooms located on the ground floor.  When we checked in, the gal at the office told us that the owner was out shopping for a new bedspread for our room and that the one currently in there wasn't to her satisfaction.  I was happy with the room and the existing bedspread was fine.  It did appear that the carpet had just been cleaned at the end of the bed and was still a bit damp, no doubt from the previous occupant that marked the aforementioned bedspread, but the room was clean, well maintained, and didn't smell like a pet room.  The shower is forceful, which was appreciated by my S.O. The kitchenette is convenient and included a microwave, fridge and spare dishes/cutlery.  The office has a selection of videos to watch and the TV's feature VHS and DVD players.  There is a private beach within 4 blocks walking distance and of course Harrah's and Harvey's are just over the state line.
I'll be back with or without my dog!  Highly recommend.

Alpen Rose is definitely a gem.  Unlike most of the "mom-n-pops" hotels in the area this one has a bit of charm to it.  The German/French architecture and decor set it above the rest.

Hannah kept her word on the 10% discount and even hooked up an upgrade to a king bed.  The rooms were adequately sized, comfortable, and very clean.

Like the sign says "Life is good"!!

This pace was great.  We got stuck in traffic and ended up showing up around 10p.  Hannah was there waiting for us and was able to give us a great itinerary for the weekend ahead.   I had told them we were coming up to celebrate a birthday and there was a nice bottle of wine waiting in our room; a great touch!

Our room was cute and CLEAN.  The bed was comfortable and we were in complete silence.

Finally, they have home-made granola bars for breakfast that were amazing!

We would definitely come back again.

We love the Alpenrose! Such a find in this area, a place that's charming and super-clean, very reasonable with free breakfast and the nicest service you can imagine. We enjoyed the very comfy beds, great showers, kitchenette for family breakfasts, and last time the private hot tub (currently under construction). Hannah gave us lots of great tips for exploring and dining. This is a wonderful place in the fall, we'll have to come back for ski season!

Hannah did it again!  This was our second visit to this wonderful place and we can hardly wait until the next one.  We originally found it because of their pet friendly policy.  This time we were sans pets.  The accommodations may be on the modest side but everything else is impeccable!  Hannah, certainly one of the most pleasant, informed and gracious hostesses, takes great pride in her establishment.  They were in process of updating a number of rooms.  I think every place I've stayed in the past always waits until the disrepair screams for attention.  She doesn't wait for complaints, she insists that rooms be the center of her pride.  We've been going to Lake Tahoe for decades yet Hannah is able to suggest places to visit and dining choices that have been spot-on.  Try it, you'll like it.

My friends and I travelled up to to Tahoe for a two-night concert at Harvey's Casino, and we had two very enjoyable nights at the Alpen Rose. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Hannah and the staff were very helpful and accommodating, and the entire place had a nice vibe to it.

While it was an easy walk to the casinos and the main Tahoe Blvd., it was very quiet at night and easy to sleep. We had access to a private beach nearby (shared with other motels), and they gave us beach towels and passes to take over to the beach.

(recommendation: This is technically a dry beach, so if you want to bring beer, don't use a cooler because you'll be turned away at the entrance. Bring a backpack and some cups, be discreet and you'll be fine).

Anyone who wrote a bad review about this place has a screw loose and is probably just a chronically unhappy person. The Alpen is exactly what you should expect for a nice motel in Tahoe for the reasonable price.

Hanna's hotel, the Alpenrose Inn is a jem. No seriously it's surprising how the small details go a long, loooong, loooooooong way to making your stay that much more enjoyable.

The first think you'll be struck with is how clean the rooms are. Seriously spotless and very comfortable. Hanna takes pride in running an establishment that is not only comfortable but inviting upon first blush. She puts out fruit, cereal, coffee and pastries for breakfast for all the residents. During the summer months she positions a bbq out front that you can use to grill. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance to the casinos and heavenly gondola and Hanna is an all around generous soul who greets you with a smile at any hour of the day or night.

I've been frequenting her establishment for over three years now, and my fiance since she was a teenager. There's a reason that we've returned year after year it's just  a bloody great place for the right price and in the perfect location regardless of season.

The Alpenrose Inn was an amazing stay and I would gladly return next time I go by Tahoe.

Quaint and relatively unassuming from the outside, the room's interior was just amazing! Lovely pillowtop mattress with elegant bathroom fixtures, it seemed like we were out of place.

The innkeeper, Hanna was very helpful in picking out places to go around Tahoe. The only issue was that because we checked-in late, we didn't get the wifi password. I suppose it'd just be something to keep in mind.

Again, very strongly recommend. I doubt I'd have any reason to stay elsewhere in Tahoe.

The Alpenrose Inn has a lot going for it. I've never stayed in a cleaner motel room, ever. The carpets, the shower, everything was spic and span! It's a small motel, which is great for the quiet at night. I was never disturbed by parking lot noise, and street noise, for that matter, was almost nonexistent. The motel is located three blocks from Hwy 50 in downtown South Lake Tahoe, and it's an easy walk to both the beach and the shops and casinos. The price for a central location like that was more than reasonable, and the peace and quiet was lovely.

The room itself was pretty standard in size and facilities for a motel room, however all the linens and towels were much nicer than those in any motel room I've been in; nicer even than many hotels I've been in! Plenty of hot water in the shower, and very nice toiletries in case you need them. I would have appreciated a larger TV screen, and a more comfortable seating arrangement in the room; the chairs were indoor/outdoor and very hard. After a day of hiking I could have used a comfy chair! Don't let that stop you from booking a room at the Alpenrose Inn though. You won't be unhappy with your choice.

I purchased a groupon for $49 with check in between sunday and thursday and made reservations for a two night stay. I was given full disclosure that staying Friday and Saturday night would require paying the regular rate as those we premium nights.

We were running late and called ahead to let them know. Arrangements were made so we would still be able to access our room. We arrived close to 10pm, and was surprise by how nice our room was. The heater had been turned on for us, so it was completely cozy!

We stayed in room 1, the Alpenrose room. I especially love how the room was decorated. Definitely  love the double front door, the king size bed, the tiled shower, and a 37" flat screen Vizio TV. The room was equiped with a heater & A/C, a ceiling fan, a microwave, and a small fridge.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a great time! The inn was less than 10 minutes from Stateline and the casinos and the beach.

Accessing the beach: We didn't have trouble getting onto the beach. Take a left outside the inn's driveway, then the first right. It will take you right to the lake! Take a right along the fence and you will come to a small gate around the middle of the block. We were able to access the beach with not problem. Less than a 10 minutes walk.

Accessing the casinos: Take a right outside the inn's driveway. Walk down to the stop sign and take a right. Walk along stateline and it will take you to Harveys and Harrahs. This route will take you by other housing options. To pass by the stores and restaurants, take a left and follow the road as it curves to the left. This will take you back to the main road, and another left will take you through the mall, then to the casinos.

I can't rate the Alpenrose Inn because I had to cancel my reservation during the 4th of July holiday week due to an unexpected situation.  My intent is to inform and/or recommend for anyone planning to stay here to be absolutely sure that you'll be able to go through with your plans.  Otherwise you will end up paying for the first night.  This is the norm in the hospitality business. However, if you are planning on staying here during any of the holidays please be advised that you'll need to cancel 7 days in advance during the holidays and 3 days during non holidays.  I believe this is not the norm, at least not in any of the places that my wife and I have stayed at during the holidays in the past.  I cancelled 4 days in advance but was still charged $200.  Regardless of your financial status $200 is a considerable amount of money to pay for nothing in return.  However, in all fairness to Hanna she did mention the policy to me before I made my reservation..

    It is a hidden treasure!

Our family stayed at the Inn for Christmas (6 adults, 3 rooms). The accommodations are WONDERFUL, the owner is very gracious and helpful, and it is in very close proximity to the casinos. There is also a Taco Stand that has really good food for cheap prices within a block. We had just found out we are having a baby and the owner was so very nice and attentive toward us. They are pet friendly - another big plus! Next time we are in Tahoe will we defiantly stay at Alpenrose Inn.

My family and I spent two nights at the Alpenrose Inn a couple of weeks ago and I feel that we were lucky to have found  this place. The room we stayed at was very clean and cozy, they had just remodeled parts of the hotel I think, so pretty much everything in our room looked brand new. I loved their electric fireplace, we had it on all the time because the nights were pretty chilly. Another good thing about this place is that it is within a 5 minute walk to the downtown and all the casinos. With all that the price for one night for the three of us plus our dog was more than decent compared to most hotels at Lake Tahoe. Last but not least, the woman who checked us in was very nice and accommodating.

My wife & I stayed at Alpenrose Inn two nights (in room "E") at the end of May & were very happy with it!  The price was reasonable, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and seemed fairly new, and the kitchenette was tiny, but  handy with a sink, microwave, refrigerator, & a hot-water-maker, ETC..   Nice TV, although we didn't use it.  Video player available by request, plus a library of videos (although we didn't use them).  It's quiet and conveniently-located.  Hannah, the  owner, and the other staff we met were friendly and "on the ball".  It met all our needs and we're looking forward to staying there again next time we're at Lake Tahoe.

My friends and I have stayed at the Alpenrose Inn twice. The motel is in the perfect location for access to the town. They are friendly, clean, and competitively priced. The room was clean, and well appointed. The amenities, internet connection, etc...were all flawless. They even had organic sundries in the bathroom. That was a nice touch. The breakfast offering is meager, but if you can get by on a light snack, you will be happy. The rest of the motel's charm will have won you over.

How anyone could give this miserable place 5 stars is beyond me!  I only  wish Yelp had a 'YOU STINK' rating!  Seriously, check out the 4 photos I added and see for yourself!

I booked a specific room and three times I called ahead to make sure it was reserved for our special getaway and the owner(Hannah) assured me each time that it was. We were also using a "get one night free" coupon for one of our nights. So we get there and she tells us that the person who was staying in the room we booked decided to stay an extra night! So she puts us in the worst room possibly in all of south lake Tahoe, not kidding and tells us that it's the only room available, even though there was only 3 cars in the parking lot!  Where do I start...

    1. The room is at the bottom of the stairs, two feet away from the ice machine. Don't worry Hannah says, " the ice machine is broken(lol) and you can't really hear people on the stairs, it's a VERY lovely room"! Apparently Hannah is a pro at the ol' bait and switch game.

    2. The kitchen area smelled like mold and outside the kitchen window is a fetid, stinking pond of stagnate water full of garbage. Couldn't open the kitchen window, there was no screen on the window and about a billion mosquitoes hovering over the stank pond!  The fan in the room, didn't work either. Check out the 4 pictures I posted!

    3. The beds were hard as a rock and I found a bedbug in my sheets! So I slept on top of the bedspread which smelled like B.O! The rug in this room had a very distinct unpleasant animal smell because apparently this is the room they reserve for people with pets!

    4. This hotel room from hell boasts premium TV channels too but in reality our teeny tiny TV got like 13 channels, half in Spanish! It had a 19 inch screen and terrible reception. I've seen better TV 's in a prison cell! Check out the four pictures I posted!

    5. The room is no smoking but about 6 feet from our door was a sitting area for smokers which meant we couldn't open our front window and we had to walk thru the cloud of second hand smoke to get to our room!
Did I mention the bizarre handyman and his chain-smoking wife that seemed to be lurking around every corner?  Each time we looked out our front window or left our room they were standing out there staring which left us with a freaky vibe.

I complained to Hannah, so the next day she moves us to a "premium" room upstairs. This room is cleaner and more modern but NONE of the outlets worked. Our fridge, microwave and coffee maker didn't work at all! I noticed there was no fire alarm in this room as well. Bright and early the next morning (7am) we are startled awake by the handyman yelling in front of our door, hammers pounding and the sound of a round-saw in the room next to us ...at this point it was almost comical and obvious that Hannah didn't give a sh*t about the comfort of her customers.

Oh and that "stunning private Tahoe beach, moments from the hotel" is fenced in and  gated, you have to pay $10 bucks EACH just to walk on the sand.  Hannah told us that  the Alpenrose was on the  "'allow' list" but we had the lady at the entrance to the beach check twice and guess what.....they aren't!  So I politely asked Hannah for a beach pass for the next day and she said she'd "misplaced them". Ahhh Snap!  Each day for 4 days I asked for a beach pass and each time she had an excuse why she couldn't give me one. Ahhh snap again!

Oh and never Pre-pay to get a better room deal at this place, you'll regret it and whatever you do, DON'T use the "get one night free" coupon because this is her justification for sticking you in the dungeon room next to the swamp.  Check out the four pictures I posted of the swamp!

I would never ...EVER stay here again! Hell, I wouldn't let my dog stay here! I had such a miserable time at the Alpenrose I just can't say enough bad things about it.

So ignore all the fake, lame 5 star reviews from Hannah's friends(Chris L.) and family and find a hotel that actually wants your business like the PARK TAHOE INN right around the corner. We stayed there 5 nights as well and it was a wonderful experience!

The hotel is really, almost immaculately clean.  Bed was very comfortable and the furniture was solid, simple and clean. Nicely designed for the space, cute.  We didn't have any problems at all and got a good rate.

A fantastic quaint lodge near a private beach. I was so impressed with how nice the sheets and towels smelled, and surprised to know they offer a continental breakfast. My family greatly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this clean and quiet lodge.

A diamond in the rough indeed!  We had plans to stay at our home in Lake Tahoe, but somehow the dates were confused and the management company thought we were going to check in on Friday rather than Thursday.  So much to our surprise when we walked into the house, we noticed there were people already in there!  Needless to say we were very distraught about having to find a place to stay, plus get two extra rooms for our children and their families because they  were already on their way up to stay at our place.  A man overheard our dilemna while we were having dinner at Passaretti's Restaurant in Tahoe (which was delicious!) and said he overheard our conversation of trying to figure out where to stay and he recommended the Alpenrose Inn.   We were so grateful for his recommendation because the Inn was very very clean, the staff that we met with were all extremely accommodating and friendly.  We highly recommend this Inn because of the cleanliness and attractiveness of the place, the continental breakfast they have and the very very friendly staff!  Their prices were very reasonable as well.

If you have a small dog, like walking down by the water, and like being walking distance from the casinos - then this is the place to stay!!

We have stayed here multiple times and absolutely love it here! The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly.

My husband and his father were going to participate in their first Tour de Tahoe (and did great!), so we all decided as a family to head up several days ahead of time to allow for acclimation.  The Alpenrose suited our needs well given its convenient but off the main strip location. It was fairly quiet in the neighborhood and only a couple of blocks from the lake and a marina. Hana went above and beyond and showed genuine care for all of our happiness and satisfaction while we stayed with her.  She was welcoming when we got in later than expected.  She provided sheets washed with fragrence-free detergent when my allergies acted up.  I want to be clear that the original sheets weren't strongly-scented at all; they were quite pleasant.  I just happen to be very sensitive to any fragrance.  The breakfasts were healthy and tasty.  The housekeeping staff and John were all friendly, helpful, and kind.  We felt well cared for and safe.  The only downside is that we had a non-smoking room that smelled as if it used to be smoked in, and the smoking deck was located adjacent to our room.  It wasn't a big enough deal for us to request to change rooms, but we have no doubt we would have been happily accommodated had we asked.  We would stay here again and would recommend it to most.

This is a great place to stay. Hanna was very nice, and the check-in/check-out process was easy as could be. There is a nice little beach that seems to be shared by some of the local hotels and we used our pass for free entry to take our coffee and donuts and enjoy the early morning views. When we checked out Hanna was even nice enough to let us keep our vehicle parked in the lot (after our check out time) to go to the Heavenly gondola.

Never coming back again. No complaints about the accommodations, only attitude from the owners.

Prior to booking our most recent trip, I checked the Yelp Android app and saw a check-in offer for a free night of stay. My wife had called and left a message inquiring about it, but since it was about 5 days before our intended stay, she went to their website to book and get a room for us.

When we arrived, my wife went to check in while I unloaded the vehicle. She returned, quite upset, and told me to go show Hannah the Yelp app and the check-in offer. She said Hannah acted like she was making it up. So I went into the office and pulled out my Galaxy Note 2, opened the Yelp app, brought up the Aplenrose Inn business, and showed her the check-in offer right there. I even clicked the button to check-in, received the offer, and then clicked the button to use it.

So she starts to freak out, saying that Yelp had made a mistake because she wasn't supposed to have any offers other than a $10 for $20. She looked at the Yelp desktop site and told me that my check-in offer wasn't showing. I explained to her that the mobile Yelp version isn't the same as the desktop (you can't "check-in" with a desktop, duh), and that it's right here in my hands.

So I'm a pretty understanding kind of guy. I told her that if it's a mistake, she should contact Yelp for their smartphone app and let them know. I asked her if there was any deal she could give off the price anyway. She told me yes, and assured me she could knock a little off and we were both happy with it.

Fast-forward to checking-out. My wife (poor her) went ahead to check out. The husband was there, and when she told him about the agreement between Hannah and me with regards to the Yelp check-in offer, he started to protest that he was unaware of such a thing and turned into a complete dick about it to my wife.

After a few minutes, Hannah arrived and basically told my wife that we're liars, because she had contacted Yelp and they said everything was fine on their end. She said. "if Yelp says it, then it's true," even though I had just showed her the offer 2 days prior (and she had acknowledged it then too). The offer was still showing as available right then and there.

So the husband chimed in with an attitude, saying that we "already got a discounted, cheaper rate" and my wife told him he was wrong, and that the price we paid was the booking price straight from their own website. It shut him up, but he was still unnecessarily rude.

So they knocked off $30 from the total. Whatever.

That same check-in offer had still available up until a few days ago, so it did eventually get corrected. After the fact.

I can tolerate a slightly moldy-smelling room. I can overlook a perpetually broken ice machine and walk into their office for a paltry bucket of ice. I can smile and pass on their coffee that tastes like it was brewed from a hobo's underwear. I can politely accept (trashed later) their "discount savings pass" to the local beach and not even bring up what a rip-off it really is for it for a fenced-in, over-populated, crappy location (there are SO many more places you can drive to within 10 minutes and only pay for parking).

But I can not stand attitudes like they exhibited. I do not appreciate being told that I'm some liar, fabricating fake deals, when I showed the proof right in my hands. I doubt that they have many younger, tech-savvy people staying at their Inn. If they did, I likely wouldn't be the first one posting about this kind of situation.

Get with the program, assholes. Your customer service sucks, and both of you come across as out-of-touch cheapskates. You've permanently lost a return customer, so great job on that.

Hannah was incredibly nice and welcoming from the moment we first spoke to her on the phone.  She was very helpful in letting us check in early and was kind enough to point us in the right direction for our next day's activities.  The room was nicely furnished with good natural light coming in through the kitchen, and the place was peaceful and quiet at night.  We would definitely return for a second visit in the near future!

Very pleasant atmosphere. My girlfriend and I stayed in the upstairs suite and it was cozy. Warm heater, small kitchen accessories with the works, tub with jets, and a nice flat screen; couldn't ask for more. Beautiful room. Breakfast in the morning downstairs too! 5 stars! Thanks to our lovely hosts!

My partner and I stayed at Alpenrose Inn for the weekend and had a terrific time. I read the Yelp reviews before arrival, so I was curious if Hannah could live up to all the positive reviews. She absolutely does. She was incredibly kind and spent a few minutes talking and getting to know us. The room was clean and very comfortable and you can tell that she pays attention to the details. The hotel is close to a beautiful private beach (w/ kayaking and boating), a few quaint restaurants and of course, the South Lake Tahoe main strip. One minor drawback was the breakfast offerings were limited to coffee, cereal and packaged pastries. Luckily they are located a few blocks away from Driftwood Cafe, which serves  delicious breakfast staples: pancakes, omelets and biscuits and gravy.

If I were to describe this hotel in a nutshell, I would say it's affordable, oozing with charm and is very conveniently located. We'll be back.

Extremely nice staff, helped us find nearby hiking and fishing areas. Comfortable and quaint atmosphere that is quiet. Short walk to main street and beach areas. All other hotels were charging $35+ per night over the weekend, we were lucky to find vacancy here. Upstairs patio is a nice place to read or relax.

This is the most beautiful place to stay. Not only is it located right next to the beach, it's also in the center of great shopping and renting facilities, as well as a golf field. Hannah is so amazing, she is like a second mother to her guests. She's so gorgeous physically and mentally. My mother and I stayed in the heavenly suite. She decorated and designed all the rooms herself, they're l different and artistic. She's so creative and she has wonderful staff. Sean, the house keeper,  is so nice, he made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. He such a sweet heart, like a big teddy bear! This place is a diamond in the rough. If you need a place to stay, you should start and end your daily adventures with Hannah. She is so freaking amazing! This is the best of best. There is everything located minutes away, even a casino! Did I mention free and fast wifi ?!? I added lots of pictures so you can see the heavenly suite. The fireplace is so beautiful, the view is wonderful and she provides extra blankets, mugs, microwave, bowls, plates, wine supplies/glasses, paper towels, pain relievers, toothpaste, hair dryer (a really good one), fridge, lots of clothes storage and storage places for everything you can imagine, amazing lighting, shampoo and lotion, and the basics of course. She is like an angel, my mom purchased a jasmine plant for her as a gift to thank her for the immaculate hospitality.  My mom slept in and she let her check out late for no fee and she actually cared about our safety during our trip there from Yosemite. She is so loving and kind, where have all the people like Hannah and Sean gone!?
Thank you so much Hannah, I'm coming back next year with my BFF and we are definitely staying there! I had so much fun! Thank you for showing me the lake and pointing things out to see on the map. I'll see you soon! Enjoy the snow!!

I've found that you can never really know what to expect at a hotel/motel based on pictures alone. This place, though, really was the cute & cozy inn that we hoped. Our room was impeccably clean, with absolutely no odor despite being dog friendly (& yes, that's one of the reasons we chose this inn over others - dog friendly vacations are great!). Breakfast wasn't very impressive but covered the basics and was at least fresh (coffee could have been stronger but there is a Starbucks just a few blocks away...) The dog cost is an extra $15/night, which was perfectly reasonable considering the grit and mud our pet brought in after running around the trails and beaches. The staff was very welcoming and even called us to let us know that we had left a sweater behind - thankfully we were nearby. I wouldn't mind staying here again on my next trip to Lake Tahoe.

We were looking for a place near Harvey's outdoor amphitheater. We wanted to enjoy the concert, and not have to drive after consuming alcohol. I would say it's about a 10 minute walk.

It is very clean, friendly and safe. When we arrived, we were greeted and advised that the room not only was the perfect location for us but came with breakfast the next morning as well as the beach pass for the lake.

By the way, the beach was just a five minute walk away.

The young lady working the front desk was extremely helpful.  She provided us with a map of Tahoe and several ideas of things to do and places to see before we left.

We brought our own ice chest to save money, but forgot a bottle opener and the front desk Immediately remedied that situation for us at no additional charge.

I would highly recommend this place, and we are definitely coming back here!

Hands down, the best hotel i've ever stayed in, in South Lake Tahoe. Hannah and her husband were super friendly, even took the time to show us a neat map of lake tahoe and all its beautiful hidden attactions. We arrived a bit late at night, but she greeted us with a smile and welcomed us right in, even though she was battling with a cold. You're a trooper Hannah :)

The room was just perfect, it was cozy, warm and very clean. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a hotel with the comfort of a cabin, and best part, it's within walking distance to all the major casinos and attractions on the state line. I will definitely be coming here from now on, no doubt about it.

Thank you Hannah and Staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

We stayed at Alpenrose this past weekend and had a great time. We got there early, around 10am, tired from a long drive and was hoping we'd be able to check in early (check in was at 3pm). To our delight, John was able to find us a room that was just cleaned and we were so grateful! John and Hannah was always so kind to make suggestions on things to do. Complimentary Breakfast wasn't anything fancy but sufficient and good- eggs and bagels, cereal, OJ, coffee, etc. But hey, u can't beat free. :) Fireplace and wet bar was definitely a plus. We would stay here again. :)

My boyfriend and I are making it a tradition to stay here every six months. We absolutely love this place! The outside looks a bit dated, but the decorations add so much charm. So far, we have stayed in the English Tea Room and the Tahoe Cabin. Both rooms are gorgeous. The rooms are renovated and the bathrooms are very clean and nicely updated as well. These rooms also had a wet bar and an electric fireplace and were quite spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the morning is plentiful. Overall, this has become a staple for us when we visit Tahoe.

I really like this place! It has a very at home feel to it. The outside looks a little modest compared to the inside. But believe me, that did not matter once I seen the inside. We stayed in a single king room, feels like walking into a medium size master bedroom. Our room had French doors which I loved! This room was very updated, clean, and comfortable!

Front office is just too cute! Hannah is very sweet and welcoming! She was very informative! Thank you. Great customer service! I would definitely stay here again!

    Note:

I gave five stars for customer service and comfort.

After a disastrous experience with the cabin we'd rented in a panic we started calling around to local hotels that accepted dogs for an unplanned last minute 4 night stay starting on 12/24. Enter Hannah and Alpenrose's hospitality!

We called in the evening of the 23rd and she said she did have one room that they could take us and our dog but that they had to move the guest to a different room (sorry and thank you kind stranger)! She said she'd have it ready for us by 11am the next morning even though normal check in is only at 3pm.

We somewhat accidentally arrived promptly at 11am and at first Hannah told my husband we were way too early to check in - then he reminded her she spoke to him the night before and she got us promptly checked in. The room was cute, all hardwood floors (dog friendly) and all tile in the bathroom. It was a handicapped room/shower but it actually worked out well and was very comfortable. It had a California King and plenty of space for our kennel, dog bed, and plenty of play space. The heater worked great and was pretty quiet - it does glow and look like a fake fireplace but once you got to used to the soothing light at night it was fine - it really kept the room warm and comfortable! The bed was very comfy and the TV worked fine too. There was also a coffee maker in the bathroom but we never tried it - they had coffee in the lobby too, which I never made it into but my husband did. I was hoping that we'd have a fridge so I could store the wet dog food in but luckily the below freezing temps at night allowed me to just throw it outside our door and no one bothered it. There's also free wi-fi but they do warn you if you steal too much bandwidth you'll lose your privilege lol! There are a bunch of hotels on that road so there are plenty of patches of grass (snow) to walk the dog - but be careful because of course there are lame owners out there who don't pick up after their dog (ugh, people)!

My only real issue is that yes, it probably could have been cleaned a bit better (there were a couple of long black hairs in the bathroom when we first checked in that weren't and could never be mine), some dust, and the mirror over the bed had (what I'm hoping) were children's handprints/smudges on it the whole time we were there. Most importantly the shower, toilet, and bedding was clean which made me happy - and most of all we were welcomed with our dog. Towels were always replaced and our bed always made when we got back. They even give you a sheet to throw over the bedding if you want your furry friend to sleep in bed with you (we're not those kind of pet parents but I thought that was pretty cool).

The most frustrating part was that whoever was above us felt the need to get up around 4:30am and walk heavily around and around and around the room for hours on end. Assuming it was the same layout as ours I have NO idea how that much walking is possible or why, unless it was kids. So sleep past 4:30am proved almost impossible for me - and this started on Christmas day for us and lasted the next couple of mornings. Of course on the day we checked we out they must've been gone already because all was silent. I'm not docking stars for this because it's obviously not the hotel's fault - it was just a very annoying and frustrating problem. Maybe it was the people who'd gotten relocated from our room and they wanted to make us pay - who knows. I just wish people had a better sense of courtesy.

When we returned to our room on Christmas Day we had some lovely surprises from Hannah and her Staff - a Nevada Wild Horses 2015 calendar and a Christmas card letting us know that they had made a donation in our name; and a small bag filled with some chocolates and other treats.

All in all it was lovely little hotel and we'd highly recommend it - especially if you have your furry four-legged family member with you that other places may not take kindly too!

We stayed here for a night, and it was such an amazing experience. The room was just gorgeous.
We stayed at the Crowne Hotel Plaza a few weeks go during our trip to LA and it didn't compare (except the view).

The room looked so new, quite different from the exterior, which was pretty decent nonetheless. Everything looked super clean and NEW. The bathroom was gorgeous, along with the bed and dry bar. This was the first place I've seen with a full kitchen set. We didn't get to use a thing because our stay wasn't that long, but it is so convenient. The seating area was so comfortable and really tied in the room.

We stayed in the English Tea Room!

Rose Ann (if I remember correctly) was more than helpful. She showed us so many staple places to visit on the map right after we checked in. She even walked us to the room and adjusted the fire place--which is so nice!!

The continental breakfast was so yummy! Eric went down to grab it and there was fruits, cereal bag with homemade jam, eggs, and so much more but that was all he could fit on the try.

Our (short) stay was just great. We definitely will be staying here again!!
