Hmm, I guess I should have taken the name more at face value. For the $100+/nightly rate I assumed I would be afforded a modicum of creature comforts and cleanliness. Wrong.

The bathroom had cracks in the walls and was overall decrepit. It was the kind of bathroom that made me wish I had packed shower shoes and that I could place a protective barrier between myself and the mildewy shower curtain. It was all I could do to stifle my shudders as I tiptoed quickly in and out of this yellow death trap.

Your money is better spent on a night in Harrod's.

I have stayed here several times now and they are very accommodating.   It's not the Ritz or anything but for the price it's definitely a great price. Most of the rooms are really big with kitchenettes and some with pull out sofas.  They also have a hot tub and sofa which always hits the spot after a day on the slopes.  They also do a free breakfast where you can hang out with all the other skiers getting ready for the day. The staff is also helpful and friendly, you got a problem, need more towels, whatever they help you put without rolling their eyes or making you feel bad. Great south lake value!

We went there to check in at 2pm but they say the room is not ready wet so we went back around 3pm and paid the room for $68. And when we went to our room its on the opposite side of the street akward. Its old, dirty, bed like a carboard, alot of craks on the walls, Tv is hella crap! costumer service is BAD. So we went back on the front desk after 1hr and check out with out refund of some thing. If you want to have a peace on mind at night with out thingking that there might something gonna crawl on your face dont come here. What a waste of money for me. Bestwestern much much better!

Pros: All rooms non-smoking, Close to the strip and beach, Offers Continental Breakfast (just juice and bagels, no elaborate spread that was described in some reviews), Friendly staff

Cons: Older, dirty, musty smelling

My experience: The room I was given was smelly and dirty. The knob on the AC unit was missing so I was unable to control the temp in my room. I had to unplugg the unit when it got too cold and plug it in when it got hot again. I was given a room with a balcony. Good right? Absolutely not. The balcony doors were broken, the screen didn't lock and there was no lock on the glass door. There was a makeshift poll that was there that was supposed to secure my room. Ummm... You could still open the door, the entire time I worried about someone breaking into my room. Had to have front desk staff make note of these discrepancies with the room so my card wouldn't be charged for damages. Although you do get what you pay for. For $100 a night I expected a little better, not extravagance but at least cleanliness and to feel comfortable in my room. The carpet was so stained and dingy I walked around with my socks on and the shower was so gross I didn't want to shower with at least my gym shower sandals.
Next time I stay in Tahoe I will spend the extra money for a cleaner and more secure room. Although the staff was great and friendly, it's not enough for me to go back there again. Overall I was sadly disappointed bc the reviews I read before booking weren't bad.

WOW! Talk about RUDE front desk people. Worst customer service of all time.  If at all possible, avoid this place. If you call to cancel they are extremely rude.  Would have been nice to know about their 48 hour cancel policy.

Won a free 2-night hotel stay @ a timeshare presentation. The staff (Roger, Teresa, Shawn, & Candace) is wonderful! Talk about excellent customer service! This is a 3-story hotel not far from the lake. Conveniently located to the main strip in town. Our room was clean and contained the basic necessities. Morning breakfast includes bagels, English muffins, waffles, fruit, oj, coffee, & both hot & cold cereals. There are also vending machines on site. Wifi is free if you need to stay connected. We had a wonderful experience at this hotel and can't wait to return! :-)

The only positive sides of this hotel our that it was affordable, close to nice beach park area, casino strip, free room upgrade upon arrival.

The room was not that clean and the bathroom had hair in the shower and dirt
on the doors.  General state of worn out and dingy.  Bad smell around the bathroom area was unpleasant.  Also the wireless sucked and only worked briefly.

The free breakfast was just okay and the coffee was horrid.

Find AAA rating surprising on this place. Only one word to say "Horrible".  Bathroom fan was like a 747!!!! Showerhead only dribbles, towels paper thin. Security what's that no dead bolt and door not flush so not a room to leave anything in while you were out.  TV hanging on the wall close to bed so person having to get up in the middle of the night could easily get hit in the head. All in all VERY disappointed in this place. Won't see us there again EVER!!!

Clean quiet cheap. I stayed on the third floor facing the street; not a problem with traffic noise. I'll definitely stay here again. Good parking and very close to amenities. Only has the basics, but that's all I needed for an over-nighter. Friendly staff made my check in/out quick and easy. TV was nice but no remote? Free wifi with very good signal but pwd provided did not work on my iphone .. Good thing for full bar AT&T 4G. Continental breakfast was great .. toast, bagel, waffles, fruits, cereals, juice, coffee ... even had cup-o-noodles..

For the money, I in no way was expecting anything more than what we got.  I think our room was probably refurbished since some of the other reviews were posted: we had new carpet, and fresh paint and new bathroom stuff (paint, shower, tile and toilet).  I did, however, toss a bar of soap into the sheets just to be sure there were no bed bugs or other critters in there....

PROs: super close to casinos, and beach (they give you a pass for that), on a quiet street

CONs: It's a cheap place to stay - it was clean, and comfortable, and not at all made to spend any time in, just for sleeping and a shower.

Stayed here this past MLK weekend.  Needed a decently priced hotel in the South Lake Tahoe area.  We got 2 bed room suite in their 'overflow' building across the street.  We stayed there a total of 3 nights.  I picked this hotel knowing it was rated 2 stars so I didnt have high expectations.  Overall it was a pleasant stay and I wouldnt have a problem staying at this hotel again.

Pros:Good location, Price, Continental Breakfast, Friendly Staff
Cons:  Limited parking and no WIFI in the overflow building.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay here after viewing some of the reviews.
We chose this particularly bc they allow pets! We brought our English bull terrier and the fee was really small in my opinion, $25! The room was very clean!

Downside- no fridge, microwave, blow dryer (I feel like a blow dryer is a necessity in hotels these days)

Look somewhere else!!!!!!
I called about the King Delux and was given miss information. They told me it had an in room spa. IT DIDNT!!!!!!!
The room we had was right at the top corner of the stairs and with the walls being less than paper thin. I could practically hear every breath, along with footsteps and voices, of EVERY passerby... No sleeping in for us! The room had a king bed and the sheets were queen sized. So we slept on sheets that fell off to our hips every night. The only thing left I could look forward to was the hot tub, which was a complete failure! The jets had no more lower than sink faucet, and it made weird noises so it was hard to relax. The only reason this place gets a star was the complimentary breakfast was good for what this hotel had to offer.

Go somewhere else...

Great for the price! My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights. Nothing fancy, just the basics - clean and comfortable. The hot tub was nice, the staff friendly and helpful. Free laundry and car cleaning station. Close to everything. Makes a great base camp! For $35 a night we would definitely revisit.

We had a fantastic time here. Great bargain and the rooms were good for what we paid for. My girlfriend and I found this gem and was quiet surprised on the level of service we got. Grant it its not a 5 star hotel yet the staff was nice. We arrived late late on a Halloween night and was accommodated and checked in. the next morning we were late to breakfast and the guy working the front desk (i forget his name) kept it open a bit longer just so we can get a bite. He went above and beyond. He was a tall slightly older man in his 40's. The following day we were greeted at the front desk by Theresa. Oh my was she the sweetest lady ever. we went on talking about tahoe and things to do. She was very kind and knowledgeable. Not to mention she had a great sense of humor and uplifting spirit. I would of gave it 5 stars yet the property was a bit dated inside and out yet totally doable and a great property.

I love how close to the lake this hotel is. Plus the Nevada border is just done the road. The rooms were clean and came with all the basic amenities you could ask for. They have a sauna and hot tub witch is convenient, and they serve a complementary breakfast witch was awesome. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful too! I definitely recommend this place for the price you pay!

The place looks nice from the  front,  but the rooms are old and tired.  They need an update.  As others have stated,  the bathroom has poor repairs done to them. Our room had an old sink and electric stove that had a cover on it because it is no longer used and it should be removed. One of the crossways to get to the other building was roped off, not to be used. It was rotted and did not look safe. The beds were worn out. My wife booked it but when I found out it was over $100 per night,  I was not happy. Other places cost more in the area and if you can't afford more,  this may be for you.

Ok, so my '5 star' rating reflects the value of this great hotel, its obviously not a Ritz Carlton. One queen size bed, tv, bathtub/shower and all the accouterments one would expect with a standard room(soap, lotion, shampoo, ice bucket, cups, etc..)..Free continental breakfast, strictly carbs though(pastry, waffle, juice, stuff like that) but a clean presentation and fresh foods. I like how the parking is hidden from the streets-it's a bit cramped parking but they make accomodations available for any compact to full size vehicle you may be driving-I'm not sure an RV would clear the overhead barrier but if you have an RV then you probably don't need a hotel.
We had the bottom floor, room A-120. No issues with noise barring the occasional hard stomping-ski boot wearing stair climber but no problems trying to rest/sleep.
Clean linens, nice presentation, no smells or odor issues.
Lemme see here, what to say?? I'd really like to rave about what a value this hotel provides and it's nice too.. I don't wanna come across as a "Bot" writing this review  so all I can say is that I was genuinely impressed and when you compare this hotel to anything in the tahoe valley, it is absolutely the best choice in Value, location, accommodations, cleanliness, and kindness of staff.
Oh yeah, I booked through expedia..I usually use hotels.com and occassionally orbitz but this time expedia offered a slight (2.00$) advantage..And my rate was advertised at 42.00 on a friday peak ski season night, with tax cost just under 50$. No hidden extras-even wifi and breakfast were covered with the costs.
So, I guess that's all.
Thank You

This is one of the worst motels I've ever stayed at. Period.

You know, I wasn't expecting much for the price we paid for 3 days (Thu-Sun) during Labor Day Weekend but this place left a sour taste in my mouth. Here is my pros and cons list.

PROS:
-It's a 5 minute walk to the private beach and you get a beach pass so you don't have to pay. Nice!
-It's a 5 minute walk to the casino's and restaurants nearby. Loved how close it was to everything.
-Customer service was okay. They weren't super nice or super rude but just okay.
-Free wifi! Yay
-LIGHT continental breakfast. Pay attention to the light part. LOL.

CONS:
-HORRIBLE rooms. I don't expect the Hilton but at least have clean rooms! Headboard broke when I touched it to see where a bug went, carpets felt like 20 years of dirt and grime were on them, pool wasn't clean (they just started to clean it) on Friday, toilet overflowed in my mom's room, chairs were broken so couldn't lean back, and so on and so on.
-We checked in at 5:30pm on Thursday and my mom asked if she could have a room with a balcony. He said yes, let me check, and there was one available. He gave us our keys and was really nice and we checked out our rooms before we brought the baggage in. The room Hubs and I had was fine (super dark and dungeony) but we check out the bathroom and there was a shower head on the counter. I look in the shower and there were tools on the bath tub with no shower head connected. Seriously?? I've been on the road for 9 hours and now I can't take a shower. Grrr. Then, we find out from my mom that there were a pile of dirty sheets on their bed and no balcony. So, we go back to the front desk and ask for different rooms. It took him awhile to figure it out and he was hesitant on doing it for us! Which really irritated me. How are 2 separate rooms not ready upon check in (which check in was 3 and we got there at 530). They finally gave my mom a room with a balcony (it was way nicer) and they gave us a handicap room. I'm glad we got a brighter more open room but the sink was right next to our bed with no counter space and no closet so I couldn't hang up any of my clothes. Boo.
-Parking lot is super tight so it makes it difficult to get out without putting it in forward and reverse a bunch of times.
-Paper thin walls and ceilings. I could hear everything upstairs from us. Super annoying and at this point regretting staying here for 3 nights.

Even though the price was pretty good and it was a great location, there are TONS of other motels in the area that we will try next time. Super disappointing here since it is a well known chain not just a random motel. You can tell it's very mismanaged and disorganized. Definitely need to revamp here.

Got a good price for a last minute stay. Few complaints are that our room was a bit dated and the bathroom smelled like cigarettes. Staff was friendly and continental breakfast was ok and better than what most motels offer as breakfast.

This place had everything we needed! I was happy with everything until the manager Matt was rude to my mother. She didn't know breakfast times were different and went In at 7:40 to make waffles. He kicked her out and threw away the waffles. Do you want your mom treated that way?

At first I thought it wasn't bad. But cleaning crew revealed the truth.
Cigarette butts sitting on patio for third day.
Had to ask for soap and wash clothes.
Trash cans stacked next to each other in kitchen rather than properly replaced.
Exercise room is a joke.
Many other places in the area with comparable rates that must be better than this.

Worst hotel I ever stayed. Rooms are very dirty. Mirrors never been wiped. Spider webs in the corners.Windows never been washed. Stains on the carpet everywhere. Mattress was probably there from day when this hotel was open and crazy uncomfortably.Towels stinks like never been washed and had stains from blood also'  We had window and balcony over the pool. Was really loud to 11pm and smoke from barbecue was everywhere. People smoking weed next to the pool and looks like nobody cares. Hallway and staircase looks like nobody sweep or vacuum this before. This hotel is good for one night when you like get high.Should cost $39.99 not $70. Breakfast is only one thing ok in this hotel but they don't have tea. DON'T PAY PENNY FOR THIS CRAP

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2014 19/100

First star for the price. Just can't beat it. Second star for the cute grounds/outside appearance being better than we expected based on the price. They have picnic tables and grills all over the place which makes for great evening bbqs. Third star is for the continental breakfast which fed all of our kids each morning. The fourth star is for the maids who had to deal with piles of kids clothes & toys and they put the stuffed animals on the pillows each day which the kids loved. The fifth star is being family friendly. With four kids including a one year old, we weren't the most organized bunch and it was a-ok at this place. This is a great place to stay for families with kids especially.

I've run out of stars but....the pool was great fun for everyone, especially with the lawn so the lil one could play. They allowed us to use floaties & water toys which was awesome. The beach access was great too, and we had a blast there. We were very satisfied with our stay here and will definitely return!

No! Our room was crammed next to two other rooms directly at the top of the stairs. The room smelled like pet urine. The towels were small and like sandpaper. You could feel the springs through the mattress. The shoerr head was plugged up and I tried to clean it out. Either the shower head was crap or tge water pressure sucked. Because of the extreme close proximaty to the stairs and other room, the noise level became unbearable at 7am. The only nice thing was the guy at the desk, Matt.

the rooms were clean.
good shower pressure.
the ac was cold.
free breakfast (mostly premade carbs)
plenty of amenities such as pool, hot tub, sauna and private beach near by.
free wifi.
like many places around here, this place is stuck a few decades back. TV is 20+ years old. the bed was tired. the towels has seen too many cycles. they needed an imprint of my CC. really? who does that anymore?
so this place is a solid 3 as it fits the bill but nothing fancy.

so why the one star rating?
well, when i got into the hot tub, the water was so clear, i couldnt see my feet (sarcastic). that water was so dirty. sauna didnt work. the bridge between the buildings was collapsing. they should really fix this before someone gets hurt.
but the kicker was when the gardener was watering the plants, he dragged the hose between cars banging the dirty hose against the cars. while i was loading my car, he banged the hose into my car. he yelled out "sorry" and walked off. i was too busy loading my car, but when i checked out what happen, there were fine scratches on my front and rear driver side doors. fyi, the parking spaces are REALLY tight even for my compact car. so door dings may occur

im not sure what others are saying, but i paid $100+ a night during the summer on a non holiday weekend. maybe the raised the prices from their days of sub $50 night... or maybe they are trying to raise money to fix all their issues.

This inn is close to EVERYTHING in S. Lake Tahoe. Walking distance to the casinos, the South Beach, the gondola and movies and shopping. Nothing is further than a 10-15 minute walk away. It sports a tiny fitness room with a treadmill and small selection of free weights and a bench for lifting. There's a small heated pool, sauna and hot tub. The hot tub could be hotter (like the standard 104 degrees F) and the jets are pretty useless, but it's still a good way to unwind.

The rooms were SUPER clean. The shower pressure was GREAT. I got a good deal booking through Expedia at $52/night, but when I requested to stay an extra night (in the middle of the week), they wanted $59 and wouldn't honor the original price. This is kind of cruddy and bad customer service, if you ask me.  There were dozens of hotels in the area that were as cheap, so I found it crazy that they jacked me for seven more dollars. REALLY?

The breakfast in the morning was standard fare; nothing to write home about. Just be prepared to wait in a long line for your muffin and coffee.

The downside:  There is no fridge in the rooms, but there is an ice machine to help keep a few beverages cold. There is a personal sized coffee machine, but the coffee SUCKS.  Tip: ask for a couple extra bags of coffee and make a pot with THREE coffee portions.

The staff was super friendly, except the peroxide blonde could use an attitude adjustment.

Ground floor rooms - DOUBLE check your window accessibility. If you're windows aren't secure, your room could easily get broken into.

Wi-Fi is pretty useless. Be prepared to use your data plan.

Honestly this hotel is the worst hotel I have ever been to. During my college years we used to stay at cheap hotel but none of them was as bad as this one. The room was COLD and DIRTY. They did not even bother to clean the microwave or the bathroom floor. The beds are very old and uncomfortable.
I paid $110 for one night on a weekend, and on the website it offers "free breakfast". The breakfast is horrible. The coffee is cold and tastes like .... They have put some bread and yucky margarine in the office , you have to take it and go to another room next door to sit and eat, that room is so ugly and dirty. DO NOT even bother to get breakfast , you will throw up. The staff is also very RUDE and they do not even listen to your complaint.

You could do a lot worse in SLT which is full of a number of run down, tired, dumpy accommodations.

We were looking for a place to stay during the holiday week (XMas | NYE) and didn't want to empty the wallet to do so. This fit the bill.

If you're on a similar search, here are the basic facts...

Beds: They're old, saggy and not comfortable. If you need a good bed, you're going to wake up sore after sleeping here. If you're pretty durable and can sleep just about anywhere, you're good to go. Bedding was fine although you might want to bring some extra for winter stays.

TV: Old tube TV. Does the job.

Internet: Technically, they have internet but it's not usable. This is not an "Ermahgawd it was sooo slow" claim. It's really not usable. Tried logging in on two devices and no luck on either.

Heater (stayed in winter, overnight low in 20's): No problem here. In fact, the room was too hot with the heat at 70.

Bathroom: Clean enough. Hot water was fine. All the accoutrements were present.

Extras: Coffee pot (works), refrigerator (works), hair dryer (works).

Customer service: everyone was pleasant. Check in was no problem.

Overall: it's a place to stay that's not terrible and relatively clean. It's somewhere in the Motel 6 range without the homogeneity.

Please don't waste your money by staying here.
Took the girlfriend for a romantic Tahoe trip and ended up feeling like an asshat thanks to this lousy inn.

I'll break it down for you :
- Least comfortable mattress ever. It's slightly better than concrete but not much else. You will toss and turn all night and wake up feeling like a train hit you.
- pillows are like flat wafers.  No fluff whatsoever.
-The Crown molding in the room is literally just a white stripe painted across the top of the walls.
-The free WIFI is so slow that it is completely useless
-best part,  no hot water! 2 days and we didn't get one hot shower. When I say not hot I don't mean warm,  I mean we took miserable cold showers.
-Ps there is no casino here.

Americas Best in South Lake Tahoe is truly a home away from home! The staff is always so nice and accommodating. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. I truly enjoy that there always coffee and breakfast in the morning. There is a pool, hot tub, sauna, and exercise room. They also have several BBQ areas and bike rentals. I always recommend this hotel to everyone who is planning a visit to the area!
