    For the cost, totally worth it.

    These rooms are small, but have everything you need.  My boyfriend and I stayed on Saturday night for $63 including tax, which was the cheapest I could find in South Lake.  The room had a microwave and fridge, which is more than the Motel 6 offers. They also have an outdoor hot tub (which kinda seemed not too hot, so we didn't go in) and free wifi.  And, the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Generally, a great stay for the price.

    Nice, quiet, very clean & comfortable place. Rooms are not large or fancy, but you aren't paying the price either. Owners are very friendly & helpful. Definitely would reccomend if you want somewhere to stay that let's you enjoy Tahoe & not want to pay for the higher end hotels.

    This place is a great deal for what it is: a cheap place to crash when you're on a ski trip. The rooms are totally clean, everything works, and it's close to great places to eat. And the staff is cool too.

    This was one of the best Budget hotels I have ever stayed at, anywhere. I am a travel writter so I have a lot to compare.  The reception staff was nice, the room was clean, smelled good, everything worked. The have in roon coffee maker and fridge.  The best thing after the good rate is... they plough the snow out of the parking lot and provide you with brushes to get your car out after a snowy night. The room's size could be classified as cozy.  This is exactly what you need if you are skiing during the day and need a place to sleep, that is pleasant, clean, quiet and affordable!

    There is absolutely no way that I would ever return to this horrid establishment. I checked in on a very busy summer Saturday and expected to pay top dollar for a room, however what I did not expect was to pay $177 for a room directly next to the dumpster with 2 beds when earlier I had reserved a room with only 1 bed. The room was 10X10 so the second bed made it extremely cramped. The second bed was also pushed directly to the closet so there was no access to it unless you crawled over the bed. The bathroom was tiny and the towels were extremely crunchy as if they had been been hung out to dry. There was no bath tub to bathe my child and the shower stall was very small and hap hazardly installed. There was someone elses hair on the one bed that I did pull the comforter back from. After all of this (5 minutes in the room) I went to decide what to do and 2 hours later found alternate lodging. I called and asked the Inn for a partial refund (expecting to pay for the couple of hours that I held the room) if I were to return the room and they offered me a 25% refund which I thought was rediculous for the amount of time I held the room and it's condition. When I returned to surrender the key, and discuss the situation I was able to get a 50% refund but I believe that  is still far too low, as there is no doubt that on an extremely busy weekend in Tahoe, the room was rented out again to someone else and they made more money off of their inadequate facility. Coming from a family that owns and is involved in the hospitality industry, I believe that this establishment should be ashamed of what they offeras wella s the way they treat their guests and I strongly urge everyone to stay away.

    I stayed here on MLK weekend 2010, after googling & searching on AAA's website.  I was completely satisfied!

    The OK:
    -Small room
    -A Queen bed seemed kinda smaller than average
    -Rooms are slightly above ground level so there's an unexpected step at the doorway
    -Somewhat flat pillows

    The Good:
    -Super close to all the necessities [Raley's, CVS, the Y transit center, etc]
    -Enough parking
    -Good visibility from the road [i.e., a big sign]
    -Coffee Maker+complimentary coffee
    -Quite clean, new-looking bathroom

    The Great:
    -BLAZINGLY fast intarwebs! For free! wireless! In your rooms! And keep in mind, this was during a holiday weekend when they were probably pretty full.  Granted, it may have cut in and out a few times, but once you were connected it was FAST.  Much, much faster than any other free wifi @ a hotel I have ever had.
    -Wonderful proprietors! They were very helpful answering all of our questions.  They seem very knowledgeable about the area and even gave us a tip on how to save some money next time! lol... [no loss of profit on their ends; they just told us how to cut out the middle man]
    -shiny new-looking fridge & microwave

    I would definitely recommend them.  My family usually stays at the Wyndham south shore about twenty minutes away, but barring the full kitchen and the whole not having to pay thing, I would stay @ Apex Inn instead in an instant.

    For what it is, this place is fantastic. No frills, just a nice, clean, quaint room for a great price. You get a microwave, a fridge, cable TV, and FREE internet. The man at the desk was very nice and got us our room in a jiffy. If you just need a room to rest your head, this is it. Will be returning the next time I'm in town

    Great for what we paid. Owners are nice and were able to get us a room last minute! We were able to check in at noon even though check in was not until 3pm. Room was clean and well maintained. Bed was nice linens clean. Floors were clean as well as bathroom. Area was family friendly and quite at night. Overall great experience and we will stay here again.

    Love this place. Had to raise the stars to five. Finding a nice cheap place to stay in Tahoe that is well kept is hard. I recommend this for anyone. I just don't want them to get to busy so I can't stay here when I want to. Lol. Come stay at Apex. Easy to find, great places to eat close by.

    Great little spot - clean bathroom, orderly room, microwave, fridge, nice heater for cold nights, lots of parking. Ideal place to stay if you're going to Sierra at Tahoe, which is about 15 minutes away. The only cons were folks in the other rooms! Night #1: Family arguing in next room. Night #2: Drunk teenagers(?) up until 3AM having a late night of "fun". Quiet hours would be GREAT.

    I am lounging in my comfortable bed using a very high speed wifi to write the review.

    Checked in with no problem with a free snack. Got to the room just in time to have our martinis. The microwave made our popcorn in grand style. Then off to a hot shower with lots of available soaps and shampoos.  The hair dryer was great and and bathroom was very clean.

    We were able to tuck our lunch in the refrigerator and hand our ski togs to dry. The room is not large but for the price the value is really good. Note that the TV is micro, but since we are on line and the wifi is high speed, that is what we want.   Cozy, rustic, clean, high tech  and comfortable, no complaints.

    The morning is going to start with coffee and real cups....... love details.

    Checked in Thanksgiving night, after a half day of snowboarding at Sierra at Tahoe. I was looking forward to a hot shower,  relaxing immersion in the hot tub, and a solid good night's rest. At first glance, this motel looked like a scene from Memento, a bit run down and secluded, an ideal refuge for serial killers. Appearances can be deceiving...

    We were greeted by a friendly SE Asian man at the lobby, and he offered us free Clif Mojo Bars and Crunchy Chocolate Chip Clif granola bars along with our key to our room. +1 star for excellent service!

    The room my bf and I stayed in had 2 full-sized beds, a dresser, cable TV, mini-fridge, and microwave. It was also equipped with a thermostat and a working natural gas heater. +1 star for amenities! The hot tub was located outdoors on a semi-private elevated porch, surrounded by tall evergreen trees. The water was piping hot, but the jets were a bit weak. We soaked ourselves for several minutes before our skin started shriveling and smelling like chlorine. I'll give +1 star for the muscle-relaxing dip.

    Finally, +2 stars for the affordable price ($45/night), and -1 star for the empty container of body lotion in the toiletry basket and brown-tinted face towel on the rack of "clean" towels. Good thing we brought our own towels/supply of toiletries!

    This place looks just like any other motel. For the price (~$50/night) we paid for, we got a clean and well-maintained room. Possibly one of the closest motels to Sierra-at-Tahoe.

    - New microwave and fridge
    - Coffee + coffee maker
    - Extra pillows
    - Great front desk staff
    - Fast (and free!) internet connection

    - Bathroom floor can be brutally cold in the mornings

    Definitely coming back here if I'm in the area.

    Beds and showers were the BEST! The beds had good support and were firm, but not hard. The shower had hot water quickly and had nice, full pressure. 3 of us were able to take our showers and not run out of hot water. Carpets were very clean, and room thermostat worked well. We did not get any drafts from the windows or door. The only con was that parts of the floor were slightly uneven. It is a small, older motel, but well maintained. The rooms were upgraded nicely with a fridge, microwave, and tv with many channels. Coffee pot, coffee, toiletries, hair dryer and free wi-fi were also provided. The neighborhood is peaceful at night and you could hardly hear any traffic. We booked 2 nights for Veterans Day weekend and called before arriving since we would be there late. Neil, the owner was waiting for us when we got there at 10:00pm. The property felt cozy overall, both inside and out. And Neil was very accommodating and treated us like welcomed guests

    Guy was pretty cool. He let us park our bikes in a brand new shed and gave us the key after we asked about a bike rack. The rooms were clean, nothing special but the customer service made it pretty nice. One downside was that there was no cable. We got in late so we didn't even watch it and didnt call to have it fixed however.

    I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars but I bumped up to 4 because of the awesome hospitality of the couple who owns this little motel. Check in was supposed to be no later than 6 PM but they waited for us until 9 PM knowing that the snow storm is likely slowing us down.

    It was the cheapest motel I could find on short notice at $85 a night. Others are taking advantage of all the people getting stranded and are charging double that amount.

    With that low a price, I was expecting to wake up with bed bug bites, but despite how old the motel looks, it is clean and in good condition.

    * Plenty of parking in available so you don't have to walk far from your car to your room door.
    * Right off the a main street so you won't have trouble finding it even though visibility was low.
    * Free WiFi with a strong signal
    * Lots Towels
    * Plenty of hot water
    * Blow dryer available
    * Closet space is sufficient with plenty of hangers
    * We had our own thermostat to adjust the heat. Thank the Good Lord!
    * Plenty of warm blankets
    * TV with cable
    * Small table with chairs
    * MICROWAVE!!!
    * Small fridge
    * A small coffee maker with a basket of hot chocolate, coffee, and... wait for it... LOTS OF PACKETS OF EMERGEN-C!!!
    * Really close to the casinos. We were driving 25 mph and made it to Harrahs in about 20 minutes. Which means it's about the same distance to Heavenly Ski Resort.

    * A little cramped. Well, what did you expect? This wasn't a grandsuite at the Four Seasons Hotel.

    I wasn't expecting this and I doubt many do, but I would just like to suggest to the super nice couple to add floor rugs right inside the door. All the snow that fell off our boots made the carpet all wet :( So it kinda sucks for thenext guest.

    But if you're low on cash and you need a nice place to stay the night, this is a good bet.

    I called a month in advance to make a reservation for a busy holiday weekend, knowing that the rooms would fill up. I just called in to confirm that my booking was there because I never received a confirmation. Turns out, the gentleman I made my reservation with, denied having ever taken my reservation (even though he wrote down my credit card number... somewhere). The lady at the desk said, "He was on vacation for 8 weeks," so it appears that he is not competent to make reservations after being away for so long....

    Thank goodness my gut feeling was to call and check on the reservation status. I would have driven several hours to NO reservation and probably little to no options for that holiday weekend. Sounds like the reviews from the stay are great, but beware of the booking process!!!

    Enjoyed the stay at the Apex. Looks like all the others, but it was super cheap - $42 a night - and I could tell that the owners made a lot of effort to accomodate their guests. It's off of the highway, so it's pretty quiet and it's within a brisk walk of some fast food resturants. The rooms were perfectly clean, though the walls thin. I could hear the TV from the next room, though judging by the appearance of my neighbours, they would have needed the volume on full blast. I'd stay there again.

    Very nice people
    Clean room
    Accommodated my ridiculously late arrival time
    He repeatedly reset the wifi for me when the cable connection went down (not his fault).
    I'll stay here every time I'm driving through.

    Stayed here with my adult daughter, and our 2 small dogs.  This motel is GREAT!  From the minute we checked in, the staff was warm and friendly.  The room was tiny, but darling!  It gives you that true, vintage nostalgia, of Tahoe in the early, travel trailer, days.  Everything was sparkling clean and well taken care of.  The price was very reasonable, as well.
    If you are looking for luxury and "extras", this is not the place for you. However.... if you are looking for a family run, well maintained, clean place, this is it!!!
    I will definitely stay here again and again!

    I hesitated making a reservation when I heard the low price but after reading the Yelp reviews I went ahead and stayed 4 nights for business.

    CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. I have stayed in Inns at a major chain a three times the price that weren't this clean.

    A easy chair to watch TV would be helpful but there isn't any space for one. I give it four stars for that reason.

    Read the reviews here and decided to book our stay- the lady/ owner was very patient thank goodness-  ( I was asking random questions more weather related )

    We stayed for 2 nights on the 2nd floor- the room was super clean- a lot on the quiet side which was perfect, heater was ready to use - there was a microwave- coffeemaker- small fridge-2 seater table / chair --TV-  hair dryer- basic toiletries conveniently close to grocery stores- shopping- plenty of restaurants-

    the family / owner that runs the place is great- very nice, courteous, very accommodating.. Perfect for our weekend get away to play in the snow.. We had a great experience- my kids loved it- Found our place to stay - will definitely be back every time we go to Tahoe..
