I was definitely impressed with this place.  A clean, quiet, comfortable room, great location, friendly service, and a hearty breakfast all for a reasonable price in South Lake Tahoe.  There can't be enough said about the made-to-order complimentary breakfast at this place -- it turns a ho-hum hotel stay into a warm and welcoming experience.

My only complaints were that the bed was not very comfortable and our non-smoking room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke (which my travel companion did not notice), but neither of these issues were serious enough to prevent me from returning.  It will definitely be my hotel of choice for my next ski/snowshoe weekend.

Great staff, clean rooms and good breakfast. This says a lot since I have been sorely tested by other hotel chains.  A bonus- comfortable bed.

Thanks for the review Jenny!

This place is amazing.
Rooms have been remodeled and are right between a usual Best Western room and a Hilton room.  That is excellent for a Best Western.
Our room was $71 for a King size, had free internet access, included access to the private beach (just 2 blocks away), and free breakfast in the morning.  Breakfast is amazing.  No lame continental slop fest here.  You can order from a great breakfast menu, anything you want, including the special.  We had the special / blueberry pancakes with bacon or sausage (butter arrived soft for spreading).  Before we could ask, they offered us eggs to go with it (listed on the sides, not part of the meal).  We both got two extra eggs with the breakfast, coffee, and hot chocolate (you get OJ as soon as you sit down).  The extra charge?  $0.  This place is also just 3 blocks from the Casinos & Heavenly's chair lift.  Hot tub and pool were also nice and clean, as were the pool towels (which you can take to the private beach).  OH!  Hot tub had very powerful jets (sweet!).  The lobby was also really nice and had free internet access via a PC (in case you didn't bring your laptop).

FYI - Reviews aren't tops for the on site restaurant.  We walked over to Josh's inside the Horizon casino for dinner.  Holy Yum Yum!

I stayed here one night on a week-night without a reservation.  The woman at the front desk was helpful and sufficient in giving us options for our room as well as showing us a map of the property.  The room was clean and modern, and the pool and spa stayed open past 10.  The best two things were the price (we paid $71 for one night, tax and other fees included) and the complimentary breakfast beat any other I'd ever had.  The breakfast is in the hotel restaurant, and instead of picking from a measly buffet, you're given a menu with many options.  All you have to pay is tip.  Most importantly, the hostess at the restaurant was the sweetest, hippest little old lady I'd ever seen.  She'll make you a fan.

I came at 2 am and met a man at the front lobby named Phil, he is the nicest person I ever met at a hotel. The complimentary breakfast is nothing like I have ever experienced. The hostess Bonnie is very kind. Overall this hotel experience was by far the best I ever had. I forgotten my waiter's name, I think it was Steve or something, he was also very kind to me. Like someone stated earlier, these people are always friendly 24/7! Needless to say, these people deserve a raise.

Went on a last minute trip to SLT and decided to try this Best Western out.  Very friendly staff, and incredible cheap price for a hotel a block away from the beach and 2-3  blocks from the Stateline.  Also, Heavenly is 2 blocks away as well.  The hotel offers free breakfast every morning at their restaurant, and it's not just a cheap continental breakfast, but you get a real breakfast.  Also, they give you a free pass to the private beach down the road which is a quick walk away.    Hotel rooms were clean and spacious and again, you can't beat the price especially compared to some of the bigger hotels down the road.  I will stay here again when I'm back in town.

I can't believe that no one has reviewed this place yet!  I bet that people who have stayed here are staying silent to keep this treasure hidden!!

In the South Lake Tahoe area, there are a zillion motels and hotels to choose from, but none can compare to this place.   The rooms are a little on the cozy side, but they are well-heated, clean and reasonably-priced.

The BEST thing about staying here, though, is the freshly prepared breakfast that you get each morning in their restaurant (included with your room!!).   Gone are the days of eating dry oatmeal out of a styrofoam cup or gnawing on a Cliff Bar on the way to the slopes.

How about homemade biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, strawberry waffles, hot cocoa with real whipped cream and orange juice instead?  Sounds pretty good, huh?  Tastes better than that, even!!

The staff at the restaurant has been there for years (at least during the last six years I've been going here) and they provide excellent, friendly service.  The hostess in the morning is a cheerful, squatter, elderly, leather-clad version of Tammy Faye Bakker ... only with MORE mascara and inappropriate daytime clothing.  She's wonderful!!  :)

There are other special things about this hotel that I can share, but you should check it out and find out for yourself.  It's a cannot miss!

Nice clean room. We stayed in Queen bed room, as expected room was small but had all the basic aminities. But 5-10 min walk to the beach and Heavenly village. Bonus, it includes free sit-down breakfast at LewMarNel's. Will go back again for a quick budget-friendly weekend in Tahoe.

Love this hotel. Good prices, cute rooms, close for snowboarding, and then there is Bonnie...Bonnie is the sweetest/animated lady. She is the host at the complimentary breakfast spot. And this isn't just any complimentary breakfast...this is in a cafe and you get to pick whatever you want absolutely free. This beets the alternative of standing in line somewhere and getting a heaping pile of eggs that dissolve in your mouth, stale bagel with lumpy milk...not to exaggerate :)

I've been there 10 times or so and will keep going back.

It's cozy.  It's clean.  It's cheap.  It's walking distance to the casinos, shopping, and the lake.  What more do you need?!  Well, how about a free full-service breakfast?!  Yep, that's included too.  They also provide free internet service in your room but ours wasn't working this past weekend.  I could have probably complained but I didn't need it.  I was in Tahoe and having a great time with the family.

I couldn't believe this was a Best Western!  Since it was a special occasion, I booked the suite with jacuzzi tub for $130.  The room was very nice and clean with two LCD TVs and lots of space for our snow gear.  Breakfast at the restaurant next door is included and pretty darn good.  My plate of french toast and eggs was more than I could eat. The front desk staff were friendly and there's a computer in the lobby if you need it.  There is internet in the rooms, but I didn't want to bring my laptop on a snowboarding trip.

The motel is in a good location. It's a short walk to the lake, the Heavenly Gondola, or the casinos.  The streets are pretty dark, so bring a flashlight if you're going to be out walking at night. It's also off the main road, so it is fairly quiet (unless you have rowdy neighbors).  The only downside was that the two soda machines near our room were out of order and the third machine was out of water.

There is nothing fancy about this Best Western, but it is conveniently located near shopping and casinos. The best thing about this inn is their breakfast. Made-to-order breakfast is included in your room rate regardless of the size of your party. They have really good orange juice and yummy hot chocolate. Nice old lady hostess at the restaurant will always recommend the house pancakes ("they are to die for"). She is cute, very energetic and friendly. I want to be like her when I grow up :o)

I second Caroline O. about the beds. They are not the best of beds, but the breakfast does make up for it.

What the heck, I'll go with the flow and give them 4 stars.  The inn is clean and comfortable.  The staff was friendly at check-in.  I guess the rooms are newly renovated but there is still that air of Tahoe chic, if you know what I'm saying.  It's really a motel, the room doors open onto a breezeway adjacent to the parking lot so you can hear people and cars coming and going, but that's not a huge deal.  Parking seems to be at a premium but we never had trouble getting a spot.  We couldn't hear our neighbors except for a few times when they dropped something on the floor above or bumped against the wall.

The included breakfast was pretty good.   Typical American breakfasts: eggs, sausage or bacon, potato, toast, juice and coffee all included. Pancakes and the like available.  The first day we had a half an hour wait and it seemed like the lady running the place had no clue.  But after seeing her in action for a couple of mornings it seemed like she did a good job of filling the tables as fast as they emptied so plan accordingly and give her a break.

The sit down breakfast is awesome! Bacon cooked perfectly not to crunchy and not to soft.homemade  Biscuits and gravy two thumbs up! James and Dan were our servers, excellent service. Rooms clean and sheets soft. Brought my own sterilizer for the jetted tub for the Nevada Suite, so i had no problems laying in the tub. Make sure you fill the water past the jets because you will make a mess. Definitely will be back

Just had a wonderful stay at this Hotel! The rate was very competitive, and the accommodations were great (notably the cooked to order complimentary breakfast). The bed took a little getting used to, or maybe it was the altitude adjustment - either way, it was manageable. Only a few blocks away from Stateline. The shower had fantastic water pressure (thankfully). Didn't get a chance to try out the hot tub, but it looked inviting.

Side note: I recommend checking out LewMarNel's for drinks, the prices were extremely fair.

I was looking for a nice, affordable place to stay for the weekend in Tahoe and saw all the great reviews on Yelp and decided to try the Best Western Station House Inn! I stayed here during the winter and was pleasently surprised! It is just as good as the reviews made it out to be.

Nice homey cottage atmosphere and very nice staff. Has all the basics with a nice pool and hot tub that is open all year round! The best part is, I agree, the FREE breakfast EACH day you stay! Yes, its true! Not just the first morning, but every morning you are there! Even on the day your leaving, you can still get the free breakfast! The hostess is a very sweet little lady and will most likely squeeze you in for the breakfast even if you are a little past the serving time! Its in the resturant too, a sit down breakfast, where you order off the menu! (No pastry or cereal things like many hotels)

In the summer, you have access to the private beach as well. Great place, affordable, just off the main road (highway 50). Within walking distance of main shops and casinos.

-Great, clean room (while we were getting set up to go out for the day, I was sitting in the parking lot and noticed the amount of housekeeping staff and saw how thorough they were being with their equipment in each of the rooms to clean them)
-Great, full, cook-to-order breakfast included with room at the attached restaurant
-Walking distance to the Nevada casinos (several blocks), gondola and shopping area (couple blocks) and lake (couple blocks)
-Good, friendly service from the staff
-Couldn't beat the price for what we got and the location!

After leaving Salt Lake City, driving through the baron desert and stopping off in Reno (not suggested) my girlfriend and I bedded down in a lake view room at the Best Western compound at Lake Tahoe.  The room was cozy and a bit of a throwback, resplendent with a gas fireplace.  The morning buffet was a welcome sight before our drive to Monterey.  We met the General Manager of the property, who could not have been nicer and helpful, even finding us traveling cups for our much needed coffee on the open road.

I stay here when the room rates are right during snowboarding season.   The rooms are clean and quiet.  This place has the right price/value combination.  I generally choose this spot or BW Timber Cove Lodge.  Timber is generally cheaper, but doesn't have a full breakfast.  The full breakfast is really good.  I wouldn't call it a bad IHOP by any means as one reviewer put it, but it isn't going to be Mimosas and caviar either.  I'd say it could be described as quality yet unimaginive diner food.  Lastly, I never have a problem with lines or slow service, but I get there right when they open to get an early start on the slopes.

Love this place!

We stayed there during our many trips there for our wedding planning. Then half our guests stayed here for the wedding. We got great rates and then group discounts.

Breakfast was wonderful! Anything off there menu free (which is a full menu). You actually sit down and eat with waiter service and everything.

Bonnie was great and remembered us after only 1 or 2 trips there (out of about 5 or 6). She is very ... um.... happy for so early, I agree but she  gets you smiling even if you are not a morning person.

Rooms clean, quiet, and last time there most were just remodeled.

Returning in a couple weeks for 1st anniversary and already have our reservations.

I found this place based on yelp reviews because I, too, love a warm and free breakfast when I'm skiing! We stayed here for four nights and it was inexpensive (averaged about $110/night for a queen room during the holidays) and very simple. Our room was small and the hotel doesn't have the bells and whistles or overly friendly service that a nicer place would have. It does have a hot tub and pool (seasonal) and is located within walking-ish distance to the Heavenly Gondola (about 15 minutes or so if you're hauling your skiing apparatus with you through the snow).

The breakfast was free but otherwise unimpressive (hot chocolate from a packet with clumps in it; "scrambled eggs with cheese" was the special on most days). This is totally fine given the alternative, but I should mention that it was served in a sit-down restaurant rather than a buffet, which means WAITING. Waiting to get seated during busy breakfast times, waiting to get served, and waiting get your check for the free meal (they always remind you to leave a tip!) means you'd better get there really early if you want to get on the mountain at a reasonable time. That's a bummer!

Everything about this place has been said.

Very nice curb appeal, great location and the room was extremely clean. The maid service was prompt and the included breakfast was great.

The earlier you arrive for the breakfast the better off you are. Before 8:30AM, a very minimal wait. After 8:30AM, the wait starts at about 15 minutes and increases as you get closer to closing time (10:30AM in the summer).

Something odd that happened on the last day: While my wife was in shower, a lady at the front desk called and said they needed access to our room because there was a leak downstairs. I said to give us 5 minutes so my wife could get out of the shower and dress (which is a rather obvious request). The front desk lady seemed put off and said they would try to wait. Uh, ok?? Two minutes later, they called again. Luckily, we were ready to let them in at this point. I understand the urgency of the request, but you can't let the maintenance man barge in while your wife is in the shower... Upon checkout, the lady was very arrogant and didn't leave me with a positive impression.

Other than this one person, the front desk staff had all been extremely polite and friendly. I will just assume I caught them in a bad moment, so 4 stars.

I recommend booking from the Best Western website with the AAA discount, as this was the cheapest rate I found for this location.

We chose Best Western Station House Inn to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding. The responsiveness and professionalism of the staff was not good. It was difficult to reach the person in charge of this service and she did not return messages. My mother-in-law had such difficulty getting her rooms reserved and even after calling to get everything corrected and confirmed, when she showed up, the reservations were still incorrect. In the end, everything worked out and everyone enjoyed their stay. The rooms were nice and clean, the pool was clean and so warm like bathwater, and the included breakfast was delicious. And you can't beat the location! We had the California Suite for our wedding night and it was great! But the staff were not very responsive, polite, or helpful.

Sweet!  Finally a great affordable place to stay in Tahoe!  I've stayed at several places in Tahoe, and this by far has been my favorite.  It might be a little pricier than Motel 6 or some of the other crappy 2 star hotels, but well worth it.  The rooms were very clean and cozy.  It's about a 3-4 block walk from the Heavenly Village and maybe 6 blocks from the casinos.

The best part about the hotel is the complimentary breakfast they serve in the morning.  We were expecting some crappy continental breakfast (i.e. cereal, grits, and maybe fruits), but you won't get none of that here.  They sit you down in an actual restaurant.  The host was this petite older lady named Bonnie.  She is the sweetest lady ever, almost like she's out of a Mother Goose fairy tale book.  The food was pretty good considering it was free, I thought it was better than a Denny's breakfast.  I can't wait to stay here again...

Affordable place from which to enjoy Lake Tahoe.  Easy walk to lake, casinos, and heavenly.

The staff was friendly, the linens and room were clean, beds comfortable.  The pool and hot tub were great, and they'll give you a pass to their own slice of beach if you ask.

As others have said, free breakfast is just awesome, but be prepared for Bonnie, the hostess.  No one should have that much energy this early in the morning, let alone a AARP member just out of the hospital from pneumonia.  Seriously, shuffling in half-awake and pre-caffeine, it was like being hit in the face with water buffalo.  She's got energy and is sweet enough to rot your teeth.

Free internet is nice, but bring your own ethernet cord, or remember to pick one up at reception when you check in.

What a place to stay! The breakfast included in the room price is a great bargain not to be missed. Dinner was a "try it once--too expensive". Overall, we will definitely enjoy coming here again.

Only area I saw as a problem was the woman working the front desk who has a young boy about 8 yrs old. He played in the pool without his parent -- because she was working the front desk -- and he needed supervision. Several people had to scold him.

Additionally, they lost out on a perfect opportunity to serve people sitting around the pool by providing drinks, snacks, or just complementary cups of cold water. Even a jug with water & lemon plus some paper cups would have been nice. A long day around the pool and you get hungry and thirsty--lost revenue by having no one offer anything! Last time I stayed a waitress did come around and the sandwich I ordered was tasty & reasonably priced. Missed that this time.

We got a room with 2 queen beds, and happened to be the end of the unit so it was very quiet. The setting in the room is very nice, better than I image with that low price. Near the door there is an area there are wall mount for skies. The TV is not the fancy flat panel LCD and has no DVD player. The wardrobe is a good size.  Bathroom is clean and bright, water is not very strong. The shower is those kind that add bubble into water make the stream looks big but do not really have much pressure.

It come with breakfast and I thought it's just some random breakfast bar but it is a very nice setting sit down with full service breakfast restaurant! The day we went they serve toast, scramble eggs, sausage or beacon and of course OJ and coffee. Very nice. Be prepare for a 10-30 mins waiting in rush hour.

Pros: Quiet, close to gondola, full service breakfast (free!), cheap.

Cons: The queen bed is very short (i am 5'6'' and my feet are half outside), AC was loud.

We were looking for something cheap without going gross.  We pulled in and it was pretty much typical.  Going to check in, it was warm and cozy and the staff was wonderful and knew all the answers we needed.  Room was much cleaner than some of the more expensive places we've stayed before! Flat screen t.v, desk, closet, and bathroom looked pretty new. We were able to walk to shopping, eating, and the Heavenly gondola lift. We highly recommend this place!

A hidden gem in South Lake Tahoe.

Walking distance away from the casinos on the Nevada side, located just  to this side of the CA border, and not too far from Heavenly Village shopping and apres-ski/ride area, I'd say this place is perfectly located.

When I go up to Tahoe again (minus the grumpy old fart of a father), I'll definitely be staying here.

Free (and actually good!) breakfast at the cafe that's located on the same property as the hotel.  Bonnie, the hostess with the mostest, is a nice little old lady.  Her wait staff was friendly as well.

Rooms were clean, but I can't say much about the beds (slept on the floor).   Free in-room high speed internet (bring an ethernet cable for your laptop) or if you forgot to pack one, there's a computer to use in the lobby.

Rates were definitely affordable, considering we stayed there during the New Year.

Stayed for a weekend.  The best part was the breakfast.  Complete, sit down, cloth tablecloths, waiter brings-it-to-you breakfast included.  Just need to tip the waiter.

Room was small but well-set up, clean and comfy.  Quiet.  A pleasant surprise.  Locations would have been perfect if we'd actually been skiing, but we were just lazing around.  Hot tub was very very hot.

Stay here for a cabin-less trip to South Lake Tahoe.

The hotel is pretty quaint and basic with included breakfast.  When the breakfast was mentioned, a image of a table with muffins, individual cereal boxes, and orange juice came to mind.  But it's a full sit down breakfast with endless pancakes, melon slices, and waffles to order.

Station House Inn also has a free shuttle that picks up outside the lobby which takes you to the gondola.

Would highly recommend this place!

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Nicely remodeled rooms are very comfortable and clean.  All the staff members we encountered were super nice and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.  The full-blown complimentary breakfast was incredible and unexpected (I'd expected a dried-out muffin from Costco, but instead you get a cooked-to-order breakfast including eggs and pancakes (blueberry one day, banana-chocolate the other) and delicious coffee and OJ.

The delightful woman who works as a hostess in the restaurant at breakfast time is deserving of special mention.

We'd absolutely stay here again, it's a great value for the money and very well located too!

This place made my stay at Lake Tahoe so much more comfortable compared to past experiences with hotels/inns. The quality and cleanliness was impeccable and it didn't look anything like the crappy motels you'd find at the same price. The location was perfect: It was right in-between the casinos and the beach. One thing I really liked was that the inn provided my family with a pass to access the private beach it was located next to. My favorite thing of all would have to be the complimentary breakfast provided every morning.

This hotel was just--ok.  I am not sure I would go back the next time I am in the area.  The rooms are very small--we had a wardrobe that half-obstructed the bathroom sink, meaning that you couldn't have the wardrobe open at the same time someone was using the sink.  The room seemed clean enough, but every time my wife and I were in there our allergies got really bad.  They cleared up a few minutes after leaving for the day, so I think the place must have had a really bad case of dust-mites.  The mattress was old and uncomfortable, and the sheets scratchy and unpleasant.

Now, let's address the free breakfast.  Please do not let it weigh too heavily in your decision to stay here.  For one, the food isn't too spectacular--think a crappy IHOP.  But the food would be OK if it wasn't such an ordeal to get.  Bonnie will do her best to keep you from it.  I know there seems to be a lot of love for her, but I don't get it.  She runs the hostess stand in the mornings, and there are two things you can count on: hearing her daily spiel ("hostess with the mostess" and "food to die for") at least 15-20 times, and waiting.  A lot.  She seats each table and gives her little performance, no matter how busy the place is.  There were some 20 people in line the first time we went, and the restaurant was half empty.  She seated someone once every 5 minutes or so.  If you do go for breakfast, do yourself a favor and hit it right after it opens at 7:30 or so.

That said, it is conveniently located--walking distance from the beach, Heavenly Village, and the casinos.  There are lots of other hotels there as well, however, and I will be looking into them the next time I come.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this centrally located Best Western. The rooms are clean and up to date, the staff professional and efficient. We really liked the fact that during a three night stay, we only drove our car once while in SLT!  The beach access pass is a great included amenity during the beautiful summer days. The comments about wifi are right on! But connectivity was not high on our list. We will most definitely stay here again

Stayed here for Friday and Saturday night this past weekend and overall I'd give the place a 3.5 stars considering the low price I booked this for.  Booked direct via their website on a AAA rate.  They did not check for my membership at check-in.  I was drawn to the 3-star level and the 4stars on yelp, the hot tub and American Breakfast daily.  All for under $85/night, I thought this was a steal!

Location is good; a 7 minute walk to the gondola.  Room was cozy and clean.  Beds were moderately comfortable and heating element worked like a dandy.  They did charge a $7/night resort fee I believe, so I did not leave a tip for housekeeping.  Both guys working the desk were friendly and efficient.

They do not have wireless which is a downfall, but they do provide complimentary high speed via ethernet cord which you acquire at the front office.  We tried to use the hot tub and make the short trek in the cold to get there.  The rising steam seemed inviting, but after we undressed and made the plunge, we quickly retreated as the teperature seemed to be no more than 85 degrees.  Luke warm, certainly not hot.  The walk back wet and cold was shitty; we didn't even get a chance to warm up.  I wish they would just have said it was closed for maintenance; we would have been happier.

The breakfast is what makes this a keeper.  You are seated by the hostess with the mostess Bonnie who apparenly the servers have put up with for 13 years.  She is mentioned in many of the other reviews here and is a sweet old lady, but at 8AM after a night of boozing, she can be too much to handle.  Oh well, her intentions are well.  Server was the same each time and was quite attentive and funny.  They get you in and out quickly, but Bonnie can be slow at her seating and normal spiel.  The food was pretty good for being complimentary.  Choices are limited but sufficient.  I had biscuits and gravy one day which were probably a C and the french toast and eggs the other day which was probably a B.  All in all satisfied for only paying $5 in tip per meal.

I'd recommend and stay here again.  They do need to fix that hot tub though, get wireless internet and recommend to Bonnie to be faster and less in your face to the hungover crowd.  Then they'll be in the 5 star category.

What great little hotel and a surprise this hotel turned out to be!

The location is absolutely convenient, about 5-10 min walk to the Heavenly Village.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff made us feel absolutely welcome ... what more can I ask for?  Oh yeah, complimentary full breakfast ... a major bonus!

We would definitely stay at BW again on our next visit to Lake Tahoe!

Went on a day trip to and had so much fun that we decided to stay in tahoe to enjoy another day on the slopes.

Thanks to yelp, we found several locations to call and get rates. It was a busy weekend so it was pretty difficult to find a room. We got lucky and got one of the last rooms here - the guy even knocked down the price a little which turned my maybe into SOLD.

The place itself is very cute and gave you the tahoe cabiny feel. The lobby/check-in was dressed well and had a nice toasty fire going - almost felt like Christmas again. The older gentleman at the front desk was very sweet and informative.

The room was rather 'cozy' and the amenities were a little aged. Nothing to complain about as it added to the cabiny feel and it didn't make me feel like it was dirty. I thought it was a little funny because the tube television made a recent movie look like it was from the 90s.

Notable items included in the room: TV, mini fridge, love seat, a floor to ceiling mirror and a heat light.

The timed heat light in the bathroom was assumed to be for drying your wet items?  We ended up blanketing all our clothes out in the bathroom to allow for drying.

Best part of the stay was the AWESOME complimentary SIT-DOWN breakfast located at the restaurant on-site. They had various breakfast options from chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns, juice, coffee...pretty much your typical breakfast items. This was much better since it was sit-down so your plates were made to order. To add to a great start to the morning, the service there was outstanding. The complimentary meal was meant for guests only, but we asked the waiter if a friend who had met us there could join us - he kindly accommodated us which we generously paid back. Tip your waiters!

Overall, a pleasant stay with no complaints, a smooth check in and check out.

Cheap and Good.

The sister and I switched from a trip to Utah to South Lake Tahoe instead. I searched and searched for rooms on the intraweb and after looking through all the casinos and other "enviro" friendly motel/hotels i stumbled upon this place. Less than a hundred a night plus a "Senior" discount (thanks mom) and free breakfast in the morning it was the perfect place.

The rooms are comfy enough, and the heater works great.I actually slept really well on their beds which the wife agreed with.  The fans in the bathroom were a bit loud, but honestly it probably covers up a lot of noise while you're on the toilet.

The free breakfast is actually a sit down with waiter style breakfast and not a buffet and is available from 7-11am, so if you're trying to make it out to a few more distant mountains (ie. kirkwood) you might end up just skipping it. Especially if you get the old lady as your hostess because it'll take 20 minutes just to get you seated.

I've only stayed there once and it was nice.  Nothing great but better than a lot of other hotels/motels I've experienced in Tahoe.  It was very clean and their staff was friendly.  Some weekends their rooms are extremely overpriced, they are after all only a Best Western lol.  However it is South Lake Tahoe and you could do A LOT worse.

Clean and quiet rooms. I was there on a Friday and Saturday night in early May, so the place wasn't packed. Beds were comfortable and the Wi-Fi worked well, except for one time when I couldn't connect.

All in all - a good place to stay at a reasonable rate.

We booked a 1 night stay here on Priceline for an unplanned trip to Lake Tahoe. The Yelp reviews were 100% correct - nice room ,great heater and bathroom, comfy bed, free wifi.

The real winner came the morning after for the complimentary breakfast. A full breakfast menu served up by the most cheery & efficient staff I've ever met ! Delicious food and top shelf attitudes. Makes the casinos up the road look quite sickly in comparison. This will now be our regular accomodation at Tahoe.

Top work BW Station House Inn staff, thanks !!

I used to love staying at this hotel, so I didn't hesitate to book here again. Unfortunately this last stay will be just that, my last stay here ever. The beds are super uncomfortable now, they really need new mattresses.  The towels and wash cloths were dirty and smelled of smoke. The showers have a lot of mildew and the wall paper in the bathroom was coming away from the wall. Price may be good,  but rooms leave a lot to be desired. We were out all day and came back to our room not being cleaned up. Having to clean up on my anniversary while staying at a hotel that should do it for you left me wanting more. Stay anywhere else for a better nights sleep. Don't waste your time here. I'm sad that this place really has gone so far down hill.

I think we have found our SLT hotel of choice!

My husband and I were going zip lining in Kirkwood and last minute we decided to stay overnight in SLT the night before.  This hotel is very nice! Great price for what you get! It is off the main drag (I think is a bonus), so it is quiet. Nicely done rooms. Our room was small, but they did well with the space they had. It was clean and bed was comfortable. The t.v was from 1990 (surprisingly still worked great) so they still have a little bit of updating they could do!
The best part of this place is the free full breakfast! That saved us an extra $25-$30!  The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and fast! The food was good too!

Will definitely come again and tell my friends about this place too!

+ Great price-performance ratio, + convenient and quiet location, + large and nice rooms

This Best Western is located close to the lake and just 2 blocks from Lake Tahoe Blvd and Heavenly Village with the gondola if you come here in winter.
I come here often since the price-performance ratio is usually unbeatable. The hotel is "expensive" enough to avoid drunken casino guests and it is off the main tracks so you do not have to face loud pedestrians. It is cozy and comes in a kind of cabin/log house style, very clean, and the rate includes a tasty American breakfast a la carte. I cannot understand the other reviews regarding the staff since they are always warm and welcoming. I highly recommend my followers to stay in the Station House Inn whenever they are around.

+ quiet location
+ good room size
+ very clean and cozy
+ friendly staff
+ close to Heavenly Village and the lake
+ delicious breakfast
+ nice cultured guests
- in winter people wearing ski boots might hate the 2 block distance to the gondola

This is a great option if you want to come to South Lake without breaking the bank.  We stayed here recently over the July 4 holiday and following weekend for a fairly last-minute trip, and were impressed by the cleanliness of the room and the location.  You are minutes from the Stateline Casinos, just down the main road from the Heavenly Gondola, and a few minutes from a private beach (you get free access to the beach with your stay).

Breakfast was also included with the stay, and not the cruddy continental breakfast, but a real breakfast at the hotel restaurant where you can pick from egg dishes, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, etc.  The food wasn't spectacular, but it was more than we expected.

The rates were good, and much less than the overpriced casinos.  Note that although the place has WiFi, it is only accessible in the lobby.  You can get corded internet access in your room if you have a laptop but there is no lying in bed and watching Netflix on your iPad (yes, 4G access is also slippery).

The staff was nice, and the rooms have fridges which was a nice way to store snacks and beer from the supermarket across the road.

This best western is very close to the main Gondola. The rooms are very clean, they provide free high speed internet (cable only) no wifi, which  is a+ if you need a good connection (sometimes hotel wifi sucks)... Bring your cable.
There's free breakfast at a restaurant nearby, a full breakfast, yeah.
The staff is super nice too.

This place is alright. Our room is really really small and theres almost no room to set our bags, let alone bring our snowboards in from the car. We were stoked to find a mini fridge under the TV, but doesn't have the freezer portion for popsicles =/ oh well.

I would've rated it 3 stars if it weren't for the absolutely AMAZING free breakfast with a different special every morning and tons of different options. Bottomless coffee, amazing hot chocolate. The breakfast definitely made this place memorable and I will probably stay here again just for the free breakfast.

The room was clean (including the bathroom), the smell of the room was ok too (which is not always guaranteed in a motel). The staff was pleasant and helpful (although there was a problem at checkout with a voucher we were using...an admitted fault of the Best Western corporate office that took an hour to sort out, but not the fault of the on site staff). The motel is only a couple of blocks from Harrah's, Harvey's, & the Heavenly gondola which makes it very convenient. With a AAA discount one room was $130 with tax and our other room was free with the voucher. Not bad prices for a Saturday night in Lake Tahoe during ski season. Also, the free breakfast (from 7-10am) is also a plus. They have a pool & hot tub, but I did not use them on this visit. Free Wi-Fi !!!

I really wanted to stay at the Timberlodge Marriott located at Heavenly Village but wow, that was beyond what we wanted to pay and we didn't really need to stay in a suite with a full kitchen, fire places, etc but it sure would have been nice.

Jay and I decided to go up to Lake Tahoe for Memorial Day weekend because there was fresh snow on the ground and we both needed a vacation and we both wanted to go to Lake Tahoe so we drove for what felt like forever and finally arrived around midnight.

This is no Timberlodge and it's not fancy but it's definitely a place I would stay at again. There's a separate living room area, a spacious sleeping area, big bathroom, and a great restaurant in house for breakfast and lunch. Loved it! Definitely made up for the lack of not being able to stay at the Timberlodge. Oh well. Another time. :)

If you have any hesitations about staying here, just look at their overall rating. A rating like that is hard to beat--and Station House Inn has earned its high rating.

I was first introduced to the Station House Inn when our friends had their wedding in Tahoe and got a block of rooms here for their event. We were impressed with the service, the location and the inclusion of a cooked-to-order breakfast that came with our stay. They have a restaurant on site... and they do a very good job with the food and service.

How impressed were we?  When we planned out own Lake Tahoe wedding a couple years later, we also chose the Station House Inn for ourselves and our guests. We were not disappointed!

We've been back several times since then and we make it a point to stay here. I highly recommend this hotel.

So helpful here. We checked in without a reservation.  Nice room,  friendly staff and within walking distance to the beach and the casinos. This place is listed as a 3 1/2 star hotel on Hotwire, which I find very hard to believe. This is definitely a MOTEL. I've stayed in 2 1/2 and 3 star HOTELS that were way better than this one.  The room was tiny with oversized furniture. My husband and I had to climb over furniture to get to the bathroom. The location was great, however, since it was just a short walk to the strip.  If you're not spending a lot of time in the room, then this place would be adequate.

The hotel supposedly comes with breakfast but since we were too hungry to wait an hour to be seated at the restaurant, we didn't get a chance to experience that particular "amenity".

If we didn't get a decent deal on Hotwire, I would have been upset.

This is my first time staying at this hotel and I am overall pleased with the experience. Location is a major advantage (just a couple of blocks from the beach), the maid service is great (we were surprised to have our room made before 9:30 am), the walls are thick enough that you don't hear your neighbors and we lucked out and got a fairly spacious king size bedroom. I can't comment on the breakfast since we didn't eat any of our breakfasts here (see my review of Driftwood and Sprouts if you're looking for a good, healthy breakfast), but we are happy with our stay.

Good value, clean room, nice furnishings, friendly staff.  The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is the breakfast.  Most reviews about this place tout the made to order breakfast.  It is definitely a plus not to face a breakfast buffet.  The food was made well and tasty.  However, I would characterize the breakfast menu as "Written in the 1950s and never updated."  Just reading it started to clog my arteries.  Pancakes, eggs, toast, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bacon.  That's great.  But if you're going to make fresh eggs - why not have omelette?  Fresh spinach, fresh bell pepper, fresh tomato.  How about a half a fresh cantaloupe with yogurt.  I was just really disappointed not to see any fruits or vegetables.  Ok, they did have 'lighter fare' and gave me a choice of cottage cheese and fruit.  Heavy. I could just imagine the fruit as slimy cut up pale melon.  So - my suggestion to this place:  modernize the menu.  Reflect California healthy fresh food.

Had a great stay here the other night! To the bullet points:

-Room was very clean

-Remodeled room? Mine (106) had a very large flat screen TV, and the bathroom looked like it had new wallpaper and flooring.

-Speaking of the bathroom, loved having a glass door instead of a shower curtain, and always love a heat lamp.

-There are two sinks in the room, one inside and one outside the bathroom.

-Motel is very close to Stateline casinos and Heavenly gondola (about 3-4 blocks; easily walkable during the summer) Also close to the lake.

-Breakfast was good, both food quality and service. Went about 8am on Friday morning and there were only about 3-4 other guests when I arrived. Restaurant was never more than half full while I was there.

-Price was unbeatable. Great value for the room I got.

-Quiet. Could occasionally hear running water in the room behind me, but that was it.

-Ski rack was probably put up in an era when skis were much longer and skinnier. Had to lay them on my ski bag on the floor.

-Toilet occasionally ran. Shut the bathroom door and couldn't hear it.

-Rooms are on the small side, but this is a Best Western, not a Hyatt. They're definitely not "climbing over furniture" small.

-Didn't exactly care for the gigantic mirror on the wall next to the bed.

Overall, I was a very happy camper and this place will be my first choice next time I stay in SLT.

For a BW I was very disappointed in this one!  First the lobby REAKS of cigarette smoke!  Second my room stunk like cigs too!  Some of my friends rooms did not smell.  They provide breakfast at the restaurant next door which was very limited but cooked to order and hot, which was great.  The restaurant however was stuck in the 80's and VERY dark, not sure what was up with that.  The rooms here need fresh paint to help with the smell.  They have wifi but it just keeps cutting out in the rooms.   It just doesn't feel like a BW Plus.

We stayed here this weekend  as we were attending an event in the area.  The check in desk attendant was very friendly and check in was very efficient and easy.  We were pleasantly surprised, the room was clean and comfortable.  We were in room 212 on the second floor at the end of the wing.  It was very quiet.  The first night, one of our neighbors came up the stairs very loudly and slammed the door to their room around 1:30am but that was not the hotels fault and once the occupant of that room was in,  they were quiet. There is a complimentary breakfast that is made to order.  The menu is pretty basic but the wait staff and host were very friendly and attentive. They have coffee makers in the room and complimentary coffee.  The beds are a little on the soft side.  Overall,  our stay was good and we would stay here again.

Frequent traveler, great perk here, free restaurant breakfast.  I've had good eggs Benedict as the special several times.  Just make sure to have some cash on hand to tip.  Rooms are good, small and dark decor, but that's typical for Tahoe.  Not too many bears on things.   Service has been good. 2 downsides, no microwaves in the rooms And no gym.  Oh, and I hate the germ free remotes, they are hard to change channels with.  The bar soap they give you is pretty good and so is the lotion.  Oh, and the wifi cuts out.  Don't use it.

I always stay at a Best Western!!!! My family and I will not go to other hotels unless they are better then Best Western (like the days we can afford the super fancy hotel) but we prefer Best Western. Always one of the greatest hotels that we ever stay at! This time IT WAS EVEN BETTER. My boyfriend and I decided on a mini vacation veterans weekend and stayed a night at the Best Western. It was only one night because we were offered a place for the weekend and had gotten to South Lake Tahoe a day early. WE WERE SUPER SURPRISED HOW AMAZING THIS HOTEL LOOKS, ACCOMMODATES, the GORGEOUS ROOM, and AMAZING BREAKFAST SERVICE. I usually do not care about the breakfast since most best westerns are very simple...plus I am a vegetarian and end up having the choice of waffles or cereal but NOT HERE! This breakfast is served at the restaurant right next to it and is included in your stay. AMAZING DELICIOUS AND GREAT SERVICE

Awesome place to stay esp when we were stuck in a winter storm last Christmas and didnt make it to the Coast Guard lodging I originally booked. Free Complementary breakfast was given the next morning at the adjacent restaurant. It consisted of a hot platter of tasty sausages, omelette and muffin with refillable coffee. They have other things to choose from the menu.
The rooms were very very clean with free wifi and a flat screen tv. Its got a homey hotel feel unlike an ordinary motel.
Lobby was really cozy with a fireplace.
Staff were very nice and gave me a military discount for the room so with tax it came out to about $110 a night for me and my husband in a room with a single queen size bed. They also provided me with a brush to clean off the snow/ice off my car.
Its really close to all the casinos and. The main interstate. I would totally come here again!

I have to tell you that we have been to Lake Tahoe a few times before, but never to this Motel, and we had some anxiety before arriving because we are more Hilton/Marriott/Hyatt vacation people, but our stay was so nice; we would return in a heartbeat.  It was a good value.

Location, Location, Location: It does not get much better than this place for South Lake Tahoe. We did not move the car for 2 days, and walked to everything. You are a few blocks walk from the Lake, Boating, Jet SKi, Beach, Fine Dining, IHOP, Carrows, Baja Fresh, Casual Dining, Fast Food Dining, Subway, all the major Casinos, Shows, Buffets, Large Supermarket, Hardware Stores, Ski Stores, Outdoor Clothing Stores, Multiple Bike Rental, Ice Cream Stores, Ski Lift, and Nightlife. This is the area you want to stay in. The last time in South Lake we stayed at one of the tower Casino Hotels next door in Nevada and it was fine, but this area is better because you are down at the lake! Plus, who wants to deal with all that Casino smoke when you are on vacation?

-Free Breakfast is included 7 to 10 am and it will be one of the best ones you will have. (Get the pancakes.)
-Staff was very accommodating with special requests and we made a few.
-Our room was newly refurbished and super clean--cleaner than most 4 star hotels we have been in.
-Towels were fine quality. (Note: Shampoo and Soap Bars said "Made in China." We do not like that. Nothing that you would rub on your skin and scalp should be made in China.)
-Bed was OK, not the best, not the worst--could be better. (This is really the weak link in the room that keeps us from giving an excellent rating.)
-Excellent Large Flat Screen TV
-Parking was easy right next to the room.
-Room Size is on the smaller side. We had a Queen Bed Room and there was no room at all for a full size suitcase. We fortunately had a couple of bags and 3 carry on size pieces that we found room for under the chairs and a dresser top. We had a bicycle for the bike ride that weekend, but that had to stay in the car at all times. There was absolutely no way to get a bike in that room unless it was going to sleep in the bed. LOL So if you are bringing bikes or skis or anything other than a few smaller bags--know that they will stay in the car unless you get a bigger room.

Area seems safe, and is well lit at night.

We went in the pool and hot tub both days and it felt so great. Hot tub was HOT and we could not find a way to turn down the temp. (I don't think I will be able to father children after this Hot Tub experience.) Pool was warm and appreciated. Hot tub is small, 6 adults is the limit it seemed and we made friends with the other two couples that came in--nice group of guests. Another day we met other nice folks at the pool.

My family has stayed here many times over the years.  It's convenient, has a wonderful restaurant (order off the menu breakfast is included in your stay so think about the $$$ since you don't have to pay for one meal/day!).

Besides the restaurant, the most important thing to know about this hotel is the LOCATION!  There is NO better!!! You can walk to the Gondola at Heavenly, Starbucks, Jamba, etc...

There are no elevators so you may want to ask for a 1st floor room if you have lots to carry.  Also, know that some rooms are much larger than others (the price reflects the size).

If you have a family, the Ginerbread house is the place to stay.  The owner built it for his mom but sadly she passed away before ever moving in.  They rent it out like a room.  WONDERFUL space for a family with a complete kitchen.

I have stayed at all of the casinos at Stateline, South Lake Tahoe and I wanted to stay something different. I checked Yelp and I saw all of the four and five stars at this Best Western Station House. The proximity to the beach and casino is so close, couple blocks to the casino and one block to the beach. Perfect for the day, perfect at night when you have to walk back and wondering how the hell did you lose so much at the casino or Sportsbook. Yes sports fans it is that time of year of football and baseball betting.

Highlights of the Best Western Station

- Friendly front office staff and large check in area.
- Clean rooms
- Nice swimming pools
- Updated bathrooms
- Lots of mirrors

- Kinda small rooms
- Where are the flat screens
- Small towels
-  No room Wi-Fi

Super upside...Free breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. Not just a continental breakfast but eggs, bacon, sausage etc. Complimentary meaning major league freebie. With a triple A card you receive a discount of $20 to $25; first round on the Black Jack Tables. When I don't stay at the casinos this will be a viable option.

Also close to the Heavenly Gondola and shopping.

The hotel... Pretty sure they have bed bugs. Was itchy in bed all night. Gross.
The pillows go flat. The chairs in the room are from no later than 1986 and are the same sienna orange my grandparents had in their living room in the late 70s/early 80s. Someone slipped at the pool while we were staying there and the ambulance was called. I saw an SUV pull in while the commotion was going on, and they drove away after seemingly (and intelligently) deciding to go somewhere else.

We were about to leave on Sunday and realized we had a nail in one of our tires and just FYI there are NO tire places in the entire Tahoe area open on Sundays (until Sacramento...seriously). It was a blessing that our membership to AAA and a friendly and helpful AAA guy helped patch our tire well enough to make it home to El Dorado Hills.

PS, There are townies that use the pool. They're teenagers that may or may not be homeless. My husband and I saw them all over town panhandling/playing guitars, smoking underage...innocent shenanigans...but I also overheard one of the "tough" 15yr old Avril Lavigne wannabe's arguing with a paying patron of the hotel at the pool over something like openly engaging in underage drinking and making out in front of children. Stay classy, Avril.

UPDATE:  just checked our credit card statement, they also charged our card for our friends' room... which our friends already paid with their own credit card.  DOUBLE CHARGED US !!

This is definitely the worst stay I ever had anywhere...!!
I hate places that are over-rated, and mislead others...

It is extremely uncomfortable...  and extremely expensive for its quality...

We paid over $100 a night!!  which is totally not worth this price!!  this is a overcharged cheap motel!!   totally not meeting up with lowest level of expectations!!  (they claim themselves to be a 3-star hotel on priceline).   Harvey's cost even lower, and they are a true 3-star (just that they are fully booked).

Comes the worst part, we did not have a working toilet!!  we never had to used to bathroom until we come back from dinner at around 9:30pm, then we realized the toilet isn't flushing...  we called both housekeeping and the front desk, and no one picks up...  and it never get fix...  in the morning, we called the front desk again, and finally someone picks up, but he said he is the only one there now, and there is nothing he can do...  we ended up having to use our friend's room's bathroom at night and the lobby's bathroom in the morning...   (ok, someone finally show up more than an hour later when we are all packed and ready to check out)  so, yea, which means our room never had a working toilet the entire stay...  and they didn't care...

I would give them negative stars if i can...  what kind of service is this??!!

First of all, the (queen bed) room is extremely tiny (200 square feet), there is barely much space on either sides of the bed...  and little space at the end of the bed, if u sit at the end of the bed, your face would be up against the TV...  there isn't enough space to get around the room....  I am 120 lbs, and i am not able to get to the bathroom without hitting into something...  there is no closet in the room, so they put in this big closet which blocks half of the sink area...

Second, their bed is super uncomfortable, which sinks down as i lay on it, and i am just 120 lbs...  very low quality mattress... and It seems like they never changed the mattress for 10+ years...    and it feels itchy the whole night...  i hv no doubt that they didn't wash the sheets correctly and/or there must be bed bugs...  not to mention the rooms smelled like someone had smoked in it...  walls are also very thin, you can clearly hear your next door neighbors, as well as people running/yelling right outside the door in the parking lot the whole night...it was sleepless...

We stayed at Deerfield Lodge on Ski Run drive before, and just their bathroom is bigger than the whole room there.  And Deerfield Lodge's service is really great!!  Bed is super comfortable!!  And they cost just a bit more (just they are fully booked this time).  We also stayed at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel nearby, which is fairly comfortable as well (and you get breakfast buffet there, no waiting).

Breakfast is cook to served at their restaurant; however, i would honestly prefer buffet style breakfast (like most other hotels ...even just Continental breakfast).  Cos the wait at their restaurant is just too long!!  wait to be seated, wait for someone to take our order, wait for food to be serve, and wait for the check (yes, there is a check cos u hv to tip them!)...  be prepare to get up at least an hour early to be able to hv time for breakfast...  not much choice and portion is tiny...  honestly, we just need a quick fast meal and head out to ski sooner...  and their restaurant is so dark and dull, depressive feeling...   (the sit down style is cool if they could make things faster and breakfast room brighter n more pleasant, ie. ordering at counter, self seating...etc.)

They claimed themselves to be a 3-star (on priceline), they are 1-star at most... and without a working toilet, it's definitely 0 to negative stars.

I will never stay at this and  any Best Western ever again!!

I stayed at this hotel the weekend of 1/22-1/25.  I chose it after much research both on Yelp and sites like Trip Advisor.  I have to say it was a great experience and I would not hesitate to stay again when I visit Tahoe in the future.  The location is great.  It's not off the main drag like most of the others are (highway 50) which I think is nice and makes it quiet.  However, it is close and convenient to everything!  Check in was quick..and they had no problem giving me a bottom floor room as requested.  After walking in the room, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.  Plenty big enough(for me, hubby and 2 kids) with a pack and play!  (We had the king size bed). The room was very clean as well.  The tv is a large flat screen with decent amount of channels.  The bathroom was pretty big..with great water pressure in the shower which is a bonus to me!!  There was sinks in both the outside of the bathroom and the inside which was great too.  Nice hot water comes out of the shower for a while, no problem!  The room comes fully stocked with multiple varieties of Seattles Best coffee and organic toiletries if u need them.  Heating system works great and keeps the room toasty.  The wi-fi was crappy..but I expected this since I read other reviews before booking.  It keeps coming in and out.  The hotel stays quiet at night..I didn't hear any crazy loud people around us or anything.  My other potential gripe was about this odd noise my husband and I heard each night on the side of the room the bathroom is in after taking a hot shower (maybe something expanding and contracting?) it wasn't too bad..I just threw on some white noise to block it out.  The bedding was a bit rough IMO, but the bed itself was firm and comfy.  The breakfast is a nice bonus of staying here.  Being able to walk out of your room to the restaurant and have your choice of breakfast served to you is great!  And the food was surprisingly great as well.  The servers and host do a great job..very friendly!  (Be sure to leave a tip even though BFAST is free!) All in all, it would be the customer service that would bring me back.  I gave my debit card rather than a credit card when I checked in, and my bank held the funds twice.  One for a pre-auth and one for the actual cost.  We were pretty upset when we saw another almost $300 held from our account and went to go complain to the manager.  Trina, the front desk manager, came right out and explained that this is a common problem with debit cards and it wasn't there fault.  However, she told us she would be more than glad to get on the phone with the bank and try to help us get it resolved so that we could have our other $300 freed up!  And she did!  The bank had the money back in the next day.  She didn't have to help, but her willingness to do so, only made me feel confident coming back to stay here again in the future!  Thank you for a great stay!

This was the second part of our week get away for New Years. Very nice hotel, within walking distance to everything up on the Main Street and to the lake. Rooms were ok,  heat worked great, since it was in the single numbers at night. Nothing like waking up to ice all over the car in the morning! Did not have the breakfast that is offered at the restaurant on site, but it did look good!!! I would just go in and get my cup of coffee and go for a walk down to the lake... Would def come back next time in the area.. I like how it's not in the Main Street, and off in a little residential area!!!

We had such a great stay! The complimentary breakfast is a sit down restaurant setting. The food was great, they let me order extra because I'm pregnant. Service was great, room was clean and spacious, and jet bath is always a PLUS!

Well, this was out first visit to this Lake Tahoe motel.  We had passed it walking many times so we decided to try it because it looks nice from the outside.  We made reservations directly with the motel, told them of the handicapped needs - e.g. Ground floor.

When we checked in we found out we would be on the second floor & they only have stairs - not good for the handicapped.  They said sorry, it is the only thing left.

We take our stuff upstairs and on the way down the stairs, me, the non-handicapped one is going slowly down the stairs adjacent to room 119 and the light that lights the stairs is out so it doesn't s very dark.  Reaching the bottom stair, we find out the spacing is wrong since they have raised the concrete below the stairs where it looked like the last stair was the ground.  It was not so I fall head first forward.  Banging my knee bad.  I limp to the front desk to tell them about the injury & the lights being burnt out.  Front desk says sorry but maintenance is gone & can't fix it.  Proper thing would be to put a cone or something there to warn people about the bad stair in the dark.  Now 2 days later & I ask since it is not fixed & I am told by the front desk that the light fixture is shooting out sparks so they are waiting for the General Manager on Monday to possibly call an electrician.  Sparks flying - fire hazard - and wait until Monday?  Really???

Than today we got up in time to have the included breakfast.  Well it is at a restaurant within the Best Western.  We are told we will be seated in a few minutes.  38 minutes later we get seated to find out that the menu for the breakfast with our room is only pancakes by themselves, French toast by itself or cereal or eggs, bacon or sausage but the eggs have to be scrambled even though it says the eggs any way you like.  I ask ask about the non- pork option which is normally chicken sausage, vegan sausage or turkey bacon which is standard in California and they say they have none of those.  Then I ask if the biscuits & gravy is just milk gravy or has pork sausage & I find out that it has leftover sausage & bacon from the day before for flavor.  So, there isn't anything for me to eat on my social diet so we start to leave.  Nasty waiter asks where we are going and I explain that the menu sucks and we are going somewhere else for breakfast.  The waiter proceeds to curse at us & I tell him to learn how to run a restaurant.  Really horrible service & no decent food.

I again went to the office to complain to the manager & I get his business card to call tomorrow.  Still limping from the fall due to the negligence of the motel & they do nothing.

Be careful if you book this a Best Western - because it is far from the best & the staff do not care about customer service!

Best western is the worst !! I had an experience where a reservation was made an error on their part.  Never got a confirmation from Best Western to know I had a reservation with them.   When calling the best Western to straighten out the ordeal
I was first told the reservation was made on the phone on my second phone call I was talking to Eric the manager who stated the reservation was booked through hotels.com
I never made a reservation through hotels.com !! And trying to get my money back for a reservation I never knew existed Eric the manager of best Western is a complete asshole!! He is absolutely refusing to refund me my $199. When best Western is  a billion dollar corporation!!!  Eric manager at Lake Tahoe's best Western is a jerk!!! Not done yet though!!

Rooms: Cozy and clean.  Nothing to complain about.  We had two full beds, a flat screen television, mini fridge.  The nice thing about the room is that there are two sinks (one inside the bathroom and one outside).  The towels are of good quality.

Breakfast: Wow.  I have never had made-to-order free breakfast at a Best Western before.  Typically you just go into a conference room and it's buffet style with mediocre food, but here, you actually sit down and order.   Make sure you tip your waiter.

Customer Service:  The five stars really come from the customer service.  Everyone from the front desk to the waiters all seem incredibly happy, and genuinely so.

I highly recommend this place.  And it's only a two minute walk to the beach.

Nothing special.

The rooms smell of Fabreze air-freshener.

And the breakfast is a thumbs down. Small portions and limited choice...

Good location close to the beach.

We paid over $150 a night!!  We  tried to cancel under the 24 hour cutoff and requested for a special case since the weather and the roads to tahoe were really bad. The lady at the front desk(Dana) was rude, didnt seem to care about the reason why i couldnt make it. She said, "I will cancel and you will lose your money" with no remorse/care. This is the most rude behavior from a customer service person i have seen. I can imagine the treatment if i got there.STAY AWAY!!!

Clean and conveniently located, very small but clean, so there really isn't that much to complain about.  Our room was very cozy. May be a little too cozy for the 2 huge snowboard bags we had.  I had to stash mine under the bathroom sink because I couldn't fit anywhere else.   Wifi rarely worked, so that was a bummer (I don't have unlimited data on my cell phone so I try to "conserve" data when I can).  I didn't hear other people unless they were walking to their rooms.

I booked on a AAA rate which was $111 on a Saturday night, so that wasn't so bad. May be I should've used the Costco discount. It might've been better. When I was looking, there are hardly anything less than $100 in South Lake Tahoe.

Made to order and free breakfast was a bonus.  Looking at other tables, the most popular with adults with the eggs with house potatoes and bacon or sausage with bread.  Kids look like they liked the pancakes.  Coffee was so-so (note to self for next time I stay there). Service was fantastic at their restaurant during breakfast. Make sure you bring cash for the tip. I was thankful I brought my purse, though my hubby always takes his wallet.

Parking lot has the potential of being very tight.  If you come in late, you might have to park far from your room.

Would definitely keep this an option and stay there again.

This hotel has positives and negatives. First the positives. They have an amazing continental breakfast which is a sit down restaurant versus your typical continental breakfast. Definitely worth going to if you stay here. Another bonus here is that you are in walking distance of the water. There is a private beach that you have access to. Plenty of parking.

The negative, the beds were outdated and not comfortable. They placed a very loud refrigerator right next to the bed so you hear humming all night long. That was quite annoying.

Stayed here this past weekend for one night. The hotel is nicely lit from the street, which makes it feel nicer in comparison to the surrounding hotels.

We stayed in room 222 which included a king size bed, one full bathroom with a timed heat lamp for wet clothes, and an additional sink and vanity counter on the outside of the bathroom. The hot water warmed up super fast, and the bed was big, warm, and comfy. The pillows were soft, but we brought our own from home and slept with those instead. Our room was clean and spacious enough to fit all of our gear and belongings. It comes with a stand-alone cabinet, TV, a desk, 2 couches, 2 night stands, and a huge mirror the size of a wall next to the bed.

My only complaint would be that my iPhone charger square kept falling out of one of the bedside outlets, so I had to charge my cell phone in the bathroom. The walls were kind of thin and I was able to hear the TV from the other room. Once I knocked out I slept like a baby.

Complimentary sit-down breakfast in the restaurant located in the parking lot was a nice amenity to offer guests, however the food was so-so. My boyfriend and I shared the 3-stack house pancakes, 2 eggs over easy, 2 strips of bacon, and country potatoes. Pancakes texture and taste were off (not golden and fluffy) and the potatoes were cold and weren't crispy how I prefer them. Still a lot better than the usual cereal, pastries, and toast offered at most other hotels.

For a semi-last minute trip and $89 a night, Best Western wasn't a bad decision at all. Easy check-in, comfortable room, close to snow resorts and casinos, and easy check out. Would definitely stay here again!
