I love this hotel. I have stayed with them multiple times - they are super polite, always clean, incredibly  cheap (especially on weekdays) and within walking distance of everything you could want (except sprouts.) free internet, nice pool, good continental breakfast, and even a few hidden in-room jacuzzis. highly recommended.

If you are used to "real" 3+ star hotels, do not stay here.  Apparently many of the reviews I read were from people who think a Motel 6 is a good place to stay.  Old hotel.  And it looks and smells like it.  Has new carpet, which was the best feature.  Old TV's, old paint, old windows in the bathroom.  Some mold, some crappy paint.  We got a 2 bedroom suite.  The master shower had no place to put a washrag or soap/shampoo.  Had to use the shower pan.  The stove and fridge came straight out of Munchkin Land.  Sure, it's close to Stateline and the Heavenly Gondola, but so are many other hotels.  Next time, it's Embassy Suites or nothing.  Well, maybe not, but definitely not here.

Great location! Once you park your car you don't have to move it until you're ready to go home. The rooms were a little outdated but clean! There's also donuts, apples, and hot chocolate for breakfast. The only bad part was the cranky troll lady at the front desk. She had a unwelcoming attitude and won't check you in a minute before 3p.m.

1.Inexpensive...I was able to find a better deal through their own website
    2. Convenient location... walk 10 seconds and you can see Heavenly
    3. Breakfast Included consists of instant oatmeal and donuts. Coffee, o.j. and milk to drink
    4. Friendly front desk

    1. Shower had mildew, YUCK!
    2. The refrigerator began to make a very loud  noise in the middle of the night so I had to unplug it (I'm a light sleeper)

Bluelake Inn is perfectly located to everything.  Trust me, location was my number 1 priority.  It is close to the  casinos, Gondola ride, private beach, Heavenly Village Shopping Center, Raley's grocery store, and plenty of other touristy shops.

Plus:  decent size pool, hot tub, close to private beach (must get beach passes from hotel, otherwise it will cost you $5 dollars per person), room is clean with a microwave, and small refrigerator.  Free Starbucks coffee, pastry, tea and orange juice in the morning.  Area for BBQ with your friends.

Cons: Internet access is spotty depending on room location, smoke alarm is located right above the bed and the neon light is on all the time.  A bit annoying at night.  Office is NOT open 24/7.  Maid service can be slow if there is too many people.

Over all, our stay was pleasant.  This is NOT your 5 star resort palace.  You pay for what you get.  If you want a place to rest at night with hot water and a warm bed this is the place to stay.  Save your money  for all the other fun activities in south lake tahoe.  Price may varied depending on months and days.   We got a great deal from hotels.com  We will definitely go back to this place.

Bathroom tub was rusty, toilet took forever to flush and for me the customer service was not great at all. Will NEVER ever return. And if you get there after 9pm, your keys will be in a mailbox outside where ANYONE can take it. Little dangerous, dont you think?

A simple hotel in a great location, right by the gondola.  Minus one star for the heater that made the room too hot or too cold.  Minus another star for the green jacuzzi.  One bonus star for having a fridge and microwave in the room.

You get what you pay for, and I'm more than happy with what I paid for!  Friendly staff and convenient to everything, although there was a problem with computers being down and delayed payment.  I would stay there again, and upgrade to the jacuzzi suites if you can, well worth the extra $20..... plus there is an extra tv in the jacuzzi room to make you feel like a true pimp.

Clean but low rent style. Great for good sleep. Walk to everything. I usually stay here during street vibrations just to sleep. This time I stayed for a get away. I will stay somewhere else for the getaway. But this is still a good place for a good nights rest.

This is a reasonably decent motel, nothing special. The best feature is the location a few blocks from the Heavenly gondola. There is an outdoor hot tub. We couldn't figure out how to turn the jets on, and you have to trudge through some snow to get to it, but it's good to have it. Breakfast is adequate - donuts, apples, oatmeal, juice and coffee/cocoa. Priced a bit high for what you get, but the location is worth something.

this is my new "Go To" place in Tahoe.

Room was larger than I expected, and we got one of the ones with the mirrors on two walls, and I have a completely different take on it... having two mirrors makes the room look much bigger...   either way, the room was bigger than I originally expected...

We pull up and it's a beautiful day, the parking lot is clean, and spots plentiful.....  the young man behind the desk was helpful and welcoming, the fridge and microwave were an added bonus and overall we had a great time for only $44.00 a night.

Added bonus, there's a little taquiera across the street, yummy yummy real mexi food.

Speaking of across the street... everything is within walking distance...  the shops, the gondola, the casinos...  everything...

Funny aside....  on the way to the casino one night we passed the stateline motel we WERE going to stay in (won't say which one)... what a dump...  we made a good choice staying at the Blue Lake Inn, we do not regret a moment, and we're sure you won't either.

This place is a no-frills motel, but it was a really good deal. We stayed in the room with 2 king beds (in separate rooms) and a kitchen (very small but adequately stocked) and it was tons of space for 4 people and barely more expensive than the standard room.  It was clean and the bathrooms seemed pretty new.  The heating was also good, making it comfortable to work during the day due to a recent knee injury while the rest skied.

The location is great if you're going to ski Heavenly, and you can also easily walk to the casino, grocery store, restaurants, or whatever.  The breakfasts of donuts, fruit and juice/coffee was good enough for this type of place.  The hot tub area is pretty small but didn't seem to get much traffic so it didn't matter.

They were also helpful in mailing us a jacket we accidentally left in the room.

I just came home from a weekend trip in Tahoe. My BF and I stayed at the Blue Lake Inn.  If I were judging on location alone I would give this place 5 Stars. Upon arriving at the Inn we went to check in. The man who "helped" us seemed very stressed and not very confident in his ability to check us in. He could improve his customer service. We actually felt bad--like we had inconvenienced the poor man.

For the condition it was in the room was fairly clean. They need to remodel the bathrooms and sink areas. The caulking around the shower was poorly done and had yellowed (Ew).  The furniture looked new-ish (maybe they are slowly making upgrades?).  Oh, and NO BLOW DRYERS in the rooms!?!? There was a line for the breakfast Saturday morning. Coffee was good and they had apples, bananas, oatmeal and various dry looking pastries.

For what you pay, its a pretty good deal. Location, location, location!

A typical small south tahoe hotel.

Seriously under a block from heavenly's main entrance.
Gave free room upgrade when they found out it was our anniversary.

Let's pause a moment to talk about this room.  It is seriously a porn stars dream.  The main room was what one might expect - a king bed, attached bathroom, that sort of thing.  But across from the bathroom was another largish room.  It was completely empty except for a tv and a ugly rose colored hot tub.  Half the walls were covered in mirrors.  We used the hell out of that thing but it really looked like it was straight out of a very low budget 1970s porn.  (room 133)

They've got hot water issues.  The first problem is that they've got the hot water set way low.  I'll admit I like my water hotter than most but all the way hot still was too cold.  Adding to this annoyance is the fact that the hot water temp changes wildly depending on how many people are using the water.  When all the skiiers return at the same time this really sucks.

The maid scolded us for being in the room past 11 even though we had a late check out.  She told us we had to be out by noon even though the front desk said 1.

It took us half an hour to check in.  I thought my partner might kill someone.  (the guy at the front desk loves fishermans warf, kittens, good food, hates his job, and the owner lives in orange county.  I'm sure you care about all that...cause that guy sure thought I did!).

But whatever - they upgraded us and it was close to the slopes.  I really would have liked hot water though...

I found this hotel while trying to find a reasonably priced place for the holiday weekend.  Over $200/night for Harrah's or Harvey's down the road was a bit too much for me (I literally laughed when the lady on the phone told me their daily rate).

Blue Lake Inn is right across the street from the Heavenly shops and gondola and close by to the casinos, eateries, ski shops, and grocery stores.  Everything you need is within walking distance!   You can keep your car parked at the property and just take your gear up to Heavenly via the gondola too.  That is definitely the way to go!  Even though I love Northstar on the other side of the lake, just the fact I can just walk to the lifts and be up on the slopes in no time, is enough to make me change my preference.

The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, and there's free continental breakfast.  The staff is friendly too.

This is a four star review, but not a four star hotel. It is simple, clean, reasonably priced, and with a great location. Short, easy walk to the Heavenly gondola, the casinos, a number of ski shops, and many bars and restaurants. It is tough to beat.

I'm sure the rooms and amenities at the larger, but name hotels are superior, but the price probably isn't worth it. The nicely sized fridge and microwave in the room served out in room dining needs nicely, and the hot tub hit the spot.

Great deal for those skiing at Heavenly.

I think other reviewers are right - you get what you paid for. If you have the right expectations you'll be satisfied with your experience. Get your expectations a little to high and you'll be disappointed. It's a cheap place with clean sheets very close to everything - the shopping, the lake, the casinos, and the restaurants. The rooms are meh, there was a little fridge there though and like I said the sheets were clean and the bathroom was palatable. If you stay on the first floor though you'll have to keep your curtains closed the entire time. But when we travel we never spend much time in our room anyway so we didn't mind that that much. The staff is also friendly and helpful.

I would even give this place 4 stars because of the price for the location if it wasn't for "breakfast". Now they say they offer continental breakfast. Well, my husband and I went in the kitchen the first morning we were there and "breakfast" consisted of bad coffee, apples, some instant oatmeal (I think) and donuts. Now, what's wrong with donuts, you might ask? Well, first of all, I would like something a little more nutritious and healthy (yogurts would work) and second, the average age of a donut must be younger than 7 days old. Those donuts were waaaay past the acceptable age of maturity. And when I went into the kitchen to wash my apple I saw another crop of donuts sitting on the counter under a towel waiting to be served to unsuspected travelers in a week or so. Needless to say we got our breakfast somewhere else after that. My question is why bother? It would be better not to offer any breakfast at all then a week old donuts. No one expected made to order omlettes but at least make it palatable.

Will probably stay there again but will steer clear from breakfast.:)

I'm a connoisseur of sorts when it comes to cheap lodging.  I don't go on vacation to spend it in a hotel room, so a clean & clean place is all I need to sleep, shave, and shower.  Looking at the location of Bluelake Inn, you'd think it was the perfect place to stay.  Fairly cheap (not for New Year's), close to Heavenly (yuck, head to Sierra at Tahoe) and the casinos, all within walking distance, how can this be bad?

Well, the shower didn't work.  At all.  bathtub didn't drain enough to shower, nor hold enough for a soak.  The water was either scalding hot and frozen cold.  The bed was in poor shape, the room smelled terribly, parking was sorely lacking along with an anything but helpful front desk.

There are better places to stay in the Tahoe area.

Ok, first, know that to get 5 stars from me is an honor.  I realize I didn't book the ritz, but...
This room was clean. it was quiet. it was located in a great place. It had ample easy parking.  It exceeded the advertisements.
The shower was awesome. Hot. (we were late getting up so it shouild have been a problem, but it wasn't).  The hot tub, clean, hot and excellent. the pool. warm and clean.  Service at the front desk was very 'local' and knowledgeable.
Soft pillows, a Fridge! (we didn't expect that!) and a great TV. Even internet. we got it from Travelocity at 56 bux.  On a friday. with a weeks notice.  Yep. 5 stars from me folks. not one b*tch or whine.

So close to the gondola for a ridiculously low price!

Breakfast was donuts and oatmeal packets. Bathroom was a bit gross but useable. We didn't try the pool or jacuzzi.

But, for a cheap ski place? Do you want more than a clean bed and hot showers? Add that to the ability to walk to the gondola, and we will be back.

I stayed here last week with my boyfriend for 4 nights and it was wonderful in so many ways! The price was awesome for being 2 blocks from Heavenly village, restaurants, shops, stateline brewery, casinos, etc! This motel has everything you need. From what I understand each room has a mini fridge, microwave, free wi-fi and coffee pot, which is SO cool! They also have a hot tub and pool:) The rooms are nice and VERY clean. They also gave a variety of personal hygiene products including AX deodorant, hair gel, gum, band-aids, etc...it was pretty random, but very cool!
Each person working there that we dealt with was very nice and pleasant and helpful.
I'm not sure how the prices are in the summer, but nonetheless give this place a try because it's MUCH better than paying what you would have to pay across the street at Heavenly for a room. And it's better because you can walk everywhere and have more money to eat, drink and shop!!!
We will most definitely be back! Thanks Blue Lake Inn:)

Solid three stars.  It's not the Fairmont, but it's a perfectly good inexpensive hotel.

Plus they have a working hot tub and a clean pool.    We looked at the "private beach" they gave us access to, but there was a 100 yard row of huge rusty structures in the water near there, significantly distracting from the view in my opinion.  Nevermind, though, just head a few minutes down the road to Nevada Beach ($7 a day) or  Sand Harbor a half hour away ($8, get there by 10:30 at the latest!) and you'll be at some of the best beaches on Tahoe.

This place has a great location--easy walking distance to Heavenly and maybe between 5 and 10 minutes to the casinos.

Very large room for the price (complete with mirrored walls--perhaps a bonus for some : )  ).

    The tv worked just fine.

The king size bed was enormous, comfortable enough, and the sheets were all perfectly clean.   As another reviewer commented, I'm a very light sleeper and it took me one night to get used to the a/c going on and off and the slightly noisy fridge, but I was totally fine after my one night of adjusting and slept right through everything the next night.

Very clean overall, except for the shower curtain which was a bit mildewy at the bottom, but that was more than compensated for by plentiful hot water and super strong water pressure.

The continental breakfast was just doughnuts, oatmeal, juice and coffee, but something for nothing is always pretty cool in my book.

The front desk staff was friendly and  professional.

This place was exactly what we were looking for, and the price we got from travelocity was excellent.

Better than what I would expect.

I booked this "inn" thru yahoo and really was just looking for the least expensive hotel in the area as our plan wasn't to stay in the room very often (and we didn't).

For the price I paid I was more than satisfied. The gentlemen at the front counter was pleasant enough and told me that he was "busier than flies on a turd." The fact that he checked me in so quick under his obvious stress is a tribute to his dedication to his craft. Or he's just an honary old fart. Either way, I appreciate inn keeper humor when I see it.

The room was much bigger than anticipated. It had a tv, fridge and a little table. Again, more than I had anticipated. Everything was in working order and even the water was hot (Obviously I wan't expecting much).

The house keeping cleaned our room without disturbing our personal belonging and even the coffee was decent.

I don't have anything negative to say about the "Inn". See what happens when you have low expectations? Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised.

    I'd stay here again.

Nice place to stay while in the Tahoe area. Across the street from Heavenly Village. About a 5-10 min walk to the 4 casinos down the street.
Got the beach pass from the front desk (don't forget to ask for one when checking in) The beach is walking distance from the hotel, but we drove - no problems with parking.
We got the 2 queen suite because they ran out of the kings, oh well.
Room had a heater / A/C, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker & small hair dryer.
Even though the toilet looked like it was going to over flow each time it was flushed, it didn't. The tub drained slowly but the shower works great and gets hot real fast.
Parts of the floor was lumpy but I didn't care. (its not like I'm moving in)
A parking space can be hard to find at the end of the day and you cannot park in the street, though there's additional parking around the opposite side of the pool.
I cant comment on the pool cause we didn't use it, the day we arrived it was cold. Plus mgmt said there was broken glass in it though it was cleaned the very next day. I didn't bother going into the cesspool of yuck aka hot tub.
The continental breakfast was a nice touch - orange juice, coffee, apples, instant oatmeal, milk & donuts. Served from 8-10am.

Nice little quiet hotel. I'm not one to spend mega $$ on a room, though I don't want to stay at the rat motel. This place is perfect.

Man at the front desk was helpful & friendly.
Don't forget to check out all of the special offers in the lobby for coupons and such.

Oh forgot to mention that there's a taqueria across the street, I didn't want to test it out though.

I'm not saying this is a 4 star hotel.  But for the price I paid (from priceline..MUCH cheaper than the official website), it exceeded my expectation.

Checking-in was easy, quick, and pleasant.  The older man at the front desk was nice enough to give me a room on the bottom floor.  Thank god..no need to bring the snowboards and gear up the stairs!

The room was a lot bigger than I had pictured in my mind.  I paid $69 a night, so I pretty much expected a SMALL shit hole.  It was actually quite big.  Two queen beds, tv, microwave, fridge, large bathroom mirror and space for all the snow gear, and a decent bathroom.

The floor and the space was relatively clean.  I didn't expect much.. so it was fine.

I enjoyed their complementary morning coffee and fruit.  They also had donuts, instant oatmeal, hot cocoa, and oj.

The CONS.  The sink kept dripping.  In order to make it stop we had to  turn the knob really tight which was annoying!

The toilet made a lot of noise.  I think sometimes it wouldn't flush completely?

The worst of all was the heater.  That shit was crazy.  It heated the room like crazy and it was great.  Then at night I would overheat and feel like I was in a sauna.  Even if I turned it on low it was way too hot.  Then the next day I turned it off.. FREEZING.   Where's the middle ground??

Overall it was super pleasant and I would totally come back for a weekend snowboarding trip!

I have stayed at the Blue Lake Inn on several occasions. Part the reason is that I am a creature of habit and once I find something that works I stay with it.  Helps me avoid the woulda shouldas.

Once you pull into the Blue Lake Inn on a Friday evening you can park the car for the rest of the weekend.  The Heavenly Gondola is an easy walk.  There are several ski shops in the area and grocery store a cross the street.  Heavenly Village surrounds the gondola is there are many night life and eating options.

The casinos on the Nevada side are an easy walk.  The bored local kids handing out out in front made me laugh.

Since I am in Tahoe to ski and not hang out in the room there are no real issues here.  The rooms are clean and there is a free continental breakfast.  The staff is friendly.

There are cheaper places in the area but I was afraid to try them.

You get what you pay for. Firstly, I wasn't impressed by the proprietor of this establishment who encouraged us to take a ground level floor room because our kids would be too noisy. He doesn't even know my kids. Whatever. The pool and jacuzzi were nasty. The continental breakfast was a joke. The room left my feet black and the shower curtain was missing rings. We are never coming back.

For what it is 4 stars because it was inexpensive, clean, quiet and did not smell like smoke. In addition, it is walking distance to stores, food and trails. While some of the furnishings are older everything is in working condition. The fridge and microwave in the room were great! Would patronage again. We did not try their breakfast  but heard it is mainly coffee and donuts.

Standard South Lake Tahoe motel.  All about location.  Beds were somewhat uncomfortable, but for the price I paid, that was expected.  Rooms were relatively clean and acceptable.  Check in was friendly and quick.

My beef was with the heater in the room.  I went to bed freezing, woke up in a pool of sweat, turned it down, woke up freezing, turned it back up, etc, etc.  They need to get that shit fixed.  Based on this alone, they get the 2 star review.

OK, we planned our trip at the last minute and this is where the rooms were available...and now I know why!
To start off, the front desk person was a complete idiot. My husband called an hour before we got there and requested a downstairs room. Once we got there and checked in, the gal behind the desk went to give us the room keys and explain where the room was located and she tells us "OK, you room is upstairs..." and my husband advised her we called and requested a downstairs..."OH, like I said your room is upstairs...."
HELLO?!?!?! So finally, we get a downstairs and off to our room we go...

The outside of the motel was RUNDOWN to say the least. The ground were dirty. As my husband put it "It's OK if you're single and just going to Tahoe to get wasted and party all weekend. But it's awful for families who are on a family vacation and looking for a nice place to stay."

The room was SMELLY...The room was DATED...The floors were FILTHY (look like it hadn't been vacuumed in a good month! Not something appealing or appropriate for $109 a night!) The bathroom was a complete disaster (FILTHY, OLD and did I mention FILTHY!) There was mildew all over the shower door and bottom of shower/tub. There was a window with NO SCREEN, so you couldn't even open it to let out the stink of the room. The fan in the bathroom didn't work either.
The beds were old and stained. One mattress had some metal piping inside the material and it was HARD and I rolled my leg over it and got a bruise on my foot from it.
The ceiling had water stains. The table was broken and not a good idea with a 2 year old.
The outside was run down. We got a NONSMOKING room, but seriously, what's the point when people sit right outside your door and smoke (there are ash trays outside every room, too).
The A/C didn't work well. My husband got an asthma attack when he turned it on.
The pool was gross and cloudy. I didn't even bother to get in. You couldn't get inside the pool area unless someone else was already inside too.
There was dust everywhere inside the room. My daughter was picking up popcorn kernels (that were not ours) from the floor.

Within walking distance to casino's and shopping.

After reading numerous positive reviews about this place I decided to book this for a night in Tahoe with friends.  There are so many positive things to say about this place!

First the receptionist was really really nice and helpful.  Since we had two rooms, she made every effort to make sure our rooms were as close to each other as possible.  Second she was more than helpful when we asked about the nearest drink dispensary.  And finally she let us know when she was leaving that night so if we had any questions or requests she'd help us out before she left.

We had gotten two rooms, the double queen and a single queen.  Both rooms were the same size dimensionally while the single queen had a desk in place of the second queen.  The rooms were way more spacious  than I expected; lots of walking room between the TV cabinet and beds, a large area around the sink vanity, and the bathroom was large enough that a large person could sleep in.

The proximity of the Inn is prime for the price.  Only 2-3 minute walk to Harrah's and Harveys, 1 minute walk to the Gondola and Heavenly Village, and a 3 minute drive to Raley's.

I must warn about a few drawbacks: if it is a snowing or forecasted, I'd recommend parking with chains on.  I was lucky enough to have rented a 4wd SUV beforehand with good tires so I didn't need to, but after receiving over a foot of the snow overnight I witnessed a BMW coupe with chains on struggling to make it out of the parking lot being pushed by 3-4 guys.
The "continental breakfast" is very basic.  It's some donuts that may have been from the day before, a basket of apples, some drinks and some really bad orange juice that tastes like it might have been from powder.  I'd recommend just buying some breakfast foods from Raleys, the rooms have a microwave and large minifridge.
The girls I stayed with complained that the floor was too dirty because of some hair on the carpet, but to be honest I think they were just being nitpicky.

Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone on a budget and would stay here again myself.

Comfortable, warm and roomy enough for a family of 4.  Room had a refrigerator and coffee pot that worked.

Walking distance to restaurants, Starbucks, stores made it a good fit for us.

This was the worst place ever! It was dirty the room smelled it was too late by the time we checked in to complain or find other accommodations. The bathroom had mold on the ceilings and the bath tub was disgusting! As soon as the office opened we checked out and moved to another in. The beds were hard the only saving grace is that the sheets were clean

Super location!  Walking distance to Heavenly Village, gondola, shops, casinos and Raleys.  The place is nice enough for an inexpensive motel.  It was clean and spacious and the microwave and fridge were a bonus.
The place needs updating but it looks like they might be working on that.  The pergola and spa shelter looked like new wood and some of the railing on the top floor looked like new picket fencing.
The Continental breakfast is not fabulous - just some doughnuts, coffee, juice (my daughter said it tasted funny so beware) , apples and instant oatmeal - but it was good enough to get us through to lunch.

Stayed at this hotel many times. Ever time We have stayed there has been something wrong. The price is right but be cautious of the hotel charging you for things that shouldnt have been charged. I got a 30.00 charge for a towel that had some dirt on it from by the pool.
One more thing we had items come up missing from our room. Just FYI

The only real positive about this hotel is the price and the outside hot tub. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable and the upstairs noise carries downstairs. We had two queen sized beds and each bed only had two standard sized pillows. Although the bathroom is decent size an clean, the rest the room was typical "hotel size" and the carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed. The continental breakfast consisted of stale donuts, less than enjoyable orange juice, and coffee. I would suggest spending a little more and finding other accommodations.

This place gets one bonus star because you can walk to the gondola.

This is the second time I have stayed here. First time toilet did not work. The second go around the lights were out in the bathroom. Shower did not drain. There was a leak above the shower when the people upstairs took a shower. With all that said...For the price it was not bad.

This is definitely a mom and pop operation. No maintenance at night so no fixing any issues at night. The people are awesome and super friendly but have issues with the building.

We decided to make a last minute trip to Tahoe last weekend and to bring the dogs with us.  I found Blue Lake Inn via yelp as being dog friendly.  So we decided to give it a try.  They charged us $20/night extra for the 2 dogs.  So approx $90/night total.

Overall the motel is in good shape.  They just started taking pets a few months ago and there are pet only rooms at the rear of the motel.  The room was clean and simple.  The beds are hard as a rock!  There is a lot of lighting to the exterior so it does come through the drapes.  The heater worked well and was not obnoxiously loud.  The carpets were clean and I was told by the desk they deep clean them after each stay.

Overall decent stay, especially for the price.  I would have rated higher if the mattresses were more comfortable.

Great location, price and pet-friendly (certain rooms). I think it was around $150 for 3 nights. Walking distance to Heavenly gondola, supermarket, restaurants and Harrah's. Also a small (4-person max) outdoor hot-tub. Friendly check-in staff. The rooms are old and need a makeover but do the job for a weekend trip. Had a microwave & fridge. However, the bed in a double room was hard as a rock. Took a nap and woke up with pain in my hips! I am young and no joint problems! Also I was really looking forward to a nice, hot bubble bath. I'm a travel nurse and live in an RV, so no bathtub. The bathtub at Blue Lake Inn was really gross. Ceramic that had been painted and was peeling, and just looked dirty. Shower was good, though, with hot water and good pressure. We had a problem on night #2 with loud kids stomping around above us, and staff promptly moved us to an upgrade with a much-softer king bed and jacuzzi tub. It was heaven! Hot pink ceramic and outdated, but clean and useable. Bubble baths every night. The staff also promptly refunded 2$ that the coke machine ate. That's service. So for a cheap but serviceable hotel, this did the job.

This is a 2-star joint that gets 3 stars from me just because they allow dogs, and their rates are CHEAP!  (Or, at least they were cheap in early October, in between summer peak and ski season.)  We paid something like $50/night through Hotels.com .  Cheap!  Close to everything.  You can walk to the Lake or stateline casinos or the whole Heavenly gondola/shopping area.

Honestly, 3 stars is generous though because the bed might have been older than me.  I could actually feel the individual spring coils.  The bath tub was old, with peeling paint.  (Oh man, who am I kidding?  This is a 2 star joint.  I just talked myself out of that 3rd star.)

Let's say it's a 2.5 star joint because, in addition to being cheap, close to lots of great things, and pet-friendly, the room had a microwave and a minifridge.  For $50/night, that's a pretty cool deal.

I can't really compare this to the MANY, MANY other 2-star-looking motels in South Lake Tahoe, but I can say that this place was decent enough to not feel totally skeezed out staying there.  Plus, their free lotion was pretty good.

Okay, the place is cheap...we'll give it one star for that.  Moving on, however, all areas of the facility were battle worn, dirty, and thrashed.  The pool furniture was filthy.  The rooms were sketchy, the laundry was moldy.  We had issues with the staff, a  young Russian and a Mexican.  Both could care less about anything resembling customer service.  They both dissed Tahoe.  They lock the laundry at 10 pm and the "breakfast" doesn't start 'till 8am.  A whirlwind of inconvenience and protracted customer punishment.

Positive: great location. Close to heavenly village and casinos.  Staff is Extremely positive and accommodating! Provided us with what we needed when we asked and in a timely matter. They even gave us a discount considering the following...

Negative: Ugly, old, room had a slight smell. The tub/shower didn't work right, the knob was broken, the shower head wobbled like it wasn't attached in the wall, and the shower curtain and rod seemed as though it was going to fall out of the wall any second.  The beds were clean but so hard I might as well slept on the floor. Website said "call for specials" but when I called no one answered the phone - so I left a message - but no one called back. I think there was a herd of elephants in the room above us... Either that or the sound proofing in the floor was worthless because I heard almost everything the neighbors above us were doing. The AC worked, but not very well. The refrigerator hummed loudly all night. And the neighbors were loud drunks (not the hotels fault but one more thing to an unpleasant night)

If I could give this a negative star, I'll be be doing it on an instant. We stayed here over the weekend for almost $400 total billed. For that price I would expect at least a "worth the price accommodation"!. But NAH!!! The following are complains I pointed out to the manager and all he could say is, " Sorry we can't to anything about it now."

    * broken phone - Rm 121 is all the way on the other building of the Inn. So we have to go all the way on an snow cold weather to ask for things we needed. We told them that it wasn't working but still nothing was done. I tried calling them on my cell phone but nobody's picking up! RIDICULOUS!
    * broken bathroom door knob on an old door - kids got scared coz they thought they got locked in when they have to go.
*no bathroom ventilation- on an ice cold weather, we had to open the window  whenever we use the bathroom so all the smell and mists from the bathroom won't get in the whole room.
    * broken AC/heater- of all things, we expect this to be all ok since we're here for the snow, right?! NO!!! Old, outdated, broken AC/Heater. When we put it on low heat it makes the the room too hot! We put it in the middle between cold/warm, it makes the whole room cold. To make the story short, we all end up with a cough and a cold! OUT RIGHT RIDICULOUS!
*continental breakfast- what a JOKE! For what we paid for the two nights we stayed, it's a ripped! Only donuts for breakfast!! They make it sound do good for the price when I called for reservation. The lady even said, "Yeah it's $170 & $180 coz we also serve "continental breakfast".
We arrived and checked in late night. So all we wanted to do is get everyone rested and sleep for a what's supposed to be a busy and fun in the snow Saturday. We didn't eve stayed in the room coz we left early Saturday for fun in the snow day for the family. We could have complained that morning but we were on a scheduled trip. I called them on my phone whenever I get a chance and nobody's picking up as usual. We got back late so we're all tired and again all we wanted is to sleep. No time to deal with it since we have to walk all the way to the other building on an ice cold weather. The manager told me I could have complained at first hand but I told him I did do my part but nobody's picking up the phone and given that we're out all day. I expected the manager (I forgot his name) to be at least nice about it but NO all he said is that we can't do anything about it! HELLA UNREAL! I'm never going back to this place and I'll make sure all of my friends and people they know will know about this AWEFUL EXPERIENCE we had with this INN......freaking unreal!!

So, we needed a place that was priced well & CLEAN! This was the place. It was also in walking distance to the casinos, which was our deciding factor on staying here.

The rooms were older & outdated but like I said, it was clean for the price that we got this room for. If you want a place that is close to the casinos, clean & easy to find....this is the place for you. We planned this trip last minute & was happy with the price for a busy concert summer in Tahoe. Thanks, we will be back.

This place is cool if you are a caveman and enjoy sleeping on rocks. Literally the hardest beds of all time. I feel like hotels should atleast invest in some decent beds, since its kind of their main attraction.

Also we were here for 3 days and our room was never cleaned once. GROSS.

While some might not consider it a four star hotel for the price. They are forgetting that It is south Lake Tahoe and you just pay more for everything specially on the weekend. The check-in and check-out staff were great. the room was a Jacuzzi room and was priced vary competitive for the market.  It is an older hotel , but was clean and had good amenities. Free parking and a pass to the beach area.

$70 for a room the Sunday before Labor Day. Booked on Saturday.

What I was expecting: Dirty, no amenities, dirty, long walk from anything, rude staff, dirty.

What I got: Free parking, pool, clean room, courteous staff, free room upgrade, blowdryer, microwave, mini fridge, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, AC and heat, free private beach passes, CLEAN room.

This place is such a STEAL! 5 min walk from casinos as well as a very nice private beach with a cute little bar/cafe. The rooms are a little older but way nicer than what I was expecting. The management even gave us a later check out since I was too hungover to get out of bed :) :/

We were looking for a pet friendly inn at Tahoe, and this looked good on Expedia.
    The good:
    -  Location, acroos the street from the Heavenly Gondola and shopping,  two blocks from Harah's.
    -  The maintence guy was a rockstar, one morning we decided to eat breakfast on the pool deck as there were no seats in the room, he ran out and helped us unstack chairs and dried the nights rain off everything, totally un expected, and he was super nice.

    The Bad:
    -  room was musty and they tried to cover with a cheap Air freshener
    -  beds were very hard and uncomfortable,  did not get a decent night's sleep any night, and woke up sore each morning
    -  free breakfast was in a tiny little room with two tables total of 5 seats, coffee and tea, instant oatmeal, anbit of fruit, and a small plate of pastries.
    -  two mornings, there was no coffee in the breakfast room, plus one morning they ran out of hot water, and the attendent was rude about it to an older lady looking to make oatmeal.
    -  maid staff, one daynmy daughters left a bag on thier bed, so it wasnt made. No big deal. The next day is was called by housekeeping, asking if we wanted service, and was reprimanded that if we left anything on the bed, they could not make it.  Also we had used the water cups the day before and they did not replace them.

Very clean. Decent room with flatscreen TV, microwave, and mini fridge. Also a very short walk from many shops and restaurants in south lake tahoe. We got a great price of $39.00 on a tuesday night while driving through tahoe. Cons were that the beds were very uncomfortable and I did not use the shower but my boyfriend said that the shower head was super low and he had to duck to fit underneath it. I would probably give it another go if the price was right again

Price was outrageous for this low end hotel. Rust everywhere in the bathroom and shower. The screen to the bathroom window was missing not to mention there being a step stool just outside the window. Parking was ridiculous but most places are in Tahoe. Beds were the most uncomfortable spring nightmare ever, barely sleep at all and when I woke I was sore as hell.

WORST Customer Service. I booked a one night stay and was charged for multiple nights. When bringing it up to management, he simply said there was nothing he could do and would not refund me for the nights we did not stay nor book. On top being charged for an extra night, I was charged $200 more which he also denied. After he insisted he could not refund me, I asked for a credit to stay a few free nights and he says he could give me a room discounted at 10%. DO NOT STAY HERE! They will overcharge you and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever encounted. Manager is a joke.

My two best friends and I are staying here for 5 days and already my back hurts from the rather hard and uncomfortable beds. The plumbing is bad  and the toilet flushes weird. The water in the shower is either scorching hot or lukewarm.  The handle is also broken for adjusting the temperature. Using data up here for directions is already difficult but trying to connect to their weak and inconsistent wifi is nothing short of sad. Very decent! My boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to Tahoe last month. We stayed for 2 nights and it came to $117 i believe. Not bad.

    Strong Wifi connection.
The rooms are clean and neat.
    Shower was clean.
    Toilet was clean.
    We had clean towels.
Floor is carpeted-I'm not a fan of carpet but it wasn't an issue.

The rooms are a bit outdated but o'well.

My only complaint was that during our stay we went out for a few hours. I expected housekeeping to come by and tidy up the room and  they did but it wasn't very tidy. The bed wasn't made-up very nicely. It seemed like they just threw on the covers.

But other than that our stay was nice. :)

Ok, I have to start this review saying this. If I go to tahoe again and my plan is not to spend much I will pick this hotel. It is right there, right in the action. Heavenly is right there, walking distance, Also you can walk to the casinos in the Harra's and Harveys. I love that it had microwave and refrigerator, having a baby this is absolutely necessary. It was clean and warm :) . I believe this hotel is way better than the Lakeside inn, it is also cheaper. The breakfast is not like a real breakfast tho, some pastries and coffee, juice and oatmeal. It is amazing for the price, totally fair price, I will repeat and recommend. The only things was that the wi-fi failed a couple of times, we could not stream the kiddo movies.

The hotel is like you've read somewhat dated but clean. Great location for walking to the lake or shops nearby. Breakfast starts at 8 o'clock which does me no good since I'm an early riser. When we got to the hotel we asked the maid for a comforter because there was none on the bed; she said it was missing. Fair enough. Luckily for us my wife had brought one along. Go figure. The shower works well good pressure. The heater works well but there is no thermostat that I could tell or timer so you can guess it gets pretty darn warm in there if you have the heater on. Great price though.

My husband and I went on a last minute snowboarding day trip to Lake Tahoe, since we are a 3.2-hour drive away. Just out of curiosity, I looked at hotel rates in the area and found a GREAT deal at Blue Lake Inn. It was a no-brainer and we booked it.
The reviews were good, but we did not expect such a great situation for the price. We were very satisfied with the room, the location (very central, right by the gondola) and the staff. The hotel is in a great location, and yet very quiet for a great night of sleep. They were very helpful and friendly in suggesting activities, and they even let us have some breakfast way after breakfast time was over. We will certainly keep an eye out for deals for Blue Lake Inn.

    We won't be staying here.

We had booked a pet-friendly accommodation through Expedia months ago for a nice getaway to start the new year off.

Blue Lake Inn has their place advertised as a pet friendly place to stay through expedia, but they aren't really accomodating to pets.

They basically told us we can't stay up there with our pet, because although we booked a pet friendly place to stay on Expedia, they didn't put us in a pet friendly room.

We had to cancel our plans, due to this Inn's poor service and communication.

For the record, don't advertise yourself on Expedia as pet friendly accommodations if that generally isn't the case. Blue Lake Inn needs to be more proactive to effectively communicate their policy that they only have a small number of pet friendly rooms, and the vast majority of their rooms are NOT pet friendly.

TL-DR - Red flag if you have a pet, call and confirm your plans now.

I was not happy with my experience. I paid about $90 per night plus $25 per night pet fee.

First, why do you advertise you are dog friendly and then give me a hassle from the moment I check in? I paid extra to have my canine companion with me so you are not doing me a favor and I really didn't need the attitude.

Yes the location is great and the bed itself was decent. I wish I would have brought my sleeping bag and extra pillows because the heater takes a long time to heat so I was uncomfortably cold most of the night and the pillows are really small. The second night I decided to leave the heater running most of the afternoon so I would not be as cold through the night and it was better.

They only provide a very thin blanket and very small thin towels. The shower looked like it had old water damage that was poorly fixed and the walls looked like they needed a fresh coat of paint. I saw reviews that there were flat screens but I didn't get one. I had a really old school TV which served its purpose.

Also why do you advertise free wifi if it doesn't work? It would take forever to load a page and it kept on dropping the signal.

There are many other similar options in this area and I do not recommend coming here.

We paid $120 after tax for a 2 day stay. This place is for people who don't care to have a palace and rather have a place that's very affordable and decent.

    No bugs.
    Clean bathroom.
    Clean floors.
    Clean towels & Sheets.
    Comfortable pillows.
    Hard Beds but slept well.

I was so thankful for the Hot high pressure water head,Free WIFI, microwave, fridge, and a warm room. The location was walking distant to the Heavenly Gondola, and the Beach. I cant make up my mind on this inn.

    - Super close to Heavenly ski gondola (1 block away) so you can wear all your gear and walk to the gondola and hop on. Super convenient!
    - Friendly staff - our toilet clogged up and was spewing water in the reverse direction and the staff came up to unclog it + clean up the toilet even though housekeeping already left for the day
    - We left a gaming device in the room after we checked out but the staff was kind enough to help ship it back to us. Thank you!

    - The toilet clogged. Erm, yea.
    - Housekeeping didnt clean our room at all for the three nights we were there?
    - Room is not exactly in the best condition it can be/ doesnt feel safe.

Would I come back here again? Yes, I probably would. But probably not for more than $70-80 a night.

We are usually good about booking early at S. Lake Tahoe, but this year we booked about a week before our trip.  Thank goodness Blue Lake Inn had some vacancies.

We stayed here over the kids President's Week Break.  Location was great, within walking distance from the Gondola and Heavenly Village.  Free WiFi, Parking, and Continental Breakfast.  Staff was friendly and the water pressure on the shower head was great!

We stayed at their connecting rooms.  One room had two Queens, the other, one King.  Both rooms needed an upgrade, especially on the small tube TVs.  Both rooms took forever to get warmed up after the heater being on, and once we turned off the heat, it got really cold fast.  Our king bed was comfortable and firm, but my husband and I both woke up with back aches.

I don't think I would stay here again... unless I got a really good deal and nothing else was available.

Let me start by saying I am not a prodigious reviewer, I have to love it or hate it or I just don't bother.

Before I write a review, I always read what everyone else has said about the place. Just to get an idea of what experiences other people have had and how it relates to my own.

My girlfriend found the Bluelake on the internet and I saw some of the negative reviews and thought.... OH BOY !

Suffice it to say, I checked in with not the highest expectations. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and unlike other reviews I read, the shower was fine and water temperature was controllable with no difficulty. Makes me wonder about a lot of the negative reviews I read.... Did these people have the capacity to adjust a shower temp not their own ? Maybe not.

The continental breakfast was just what I would have expected.....  The Bananas I chose for myself were.... Bananas. My girlfriend sampled many of the baked goods and thought they were great. Again I don't know what these other people expected. Fresh omelets or pancakes.... that's not continental.

I slept great, found the place quiet and I was on a street side room facing Mc P's Bar so I had a minute of worry there about potential noise.

Location can't be beat a short block from the Gondola, and three blocks from the casinos.

The pool wasn't open in winter, though we did sit in the outdoor hot tub.... bubbles not to powerful but it was HOT....

Wi fi worked which in many hotels I say in doesn't seem to be the case again a plus for people like us who check emails from the office daily.

My last thought.... If you come to Tahoe to watch TV..... Nuff Said ! The desk person told me they were one by one upgrading the rooms and putting in new mattresses and flat screens though I don't watch TV when I'm in Tahoe; As per the mattress, as I said, I slept well.

As the Terminator said...... "I'll be back."
