Not terrible, not great.  Pretty much exactly what I expected.  The room was decent.  We got a clean nondescript bathroom and a king bed with a thin comforter so that you had to keep the heat on high.  The staff were very helpful and friendly.  The continental breakfast offered some cereal, toast and jam, oatmeal, some fruit, and yoghurt and granola.  I thought it was pretty good for the rate.  Clearly when you pick Quality Inn and Suites, you aren't expecting the casino down the road.

After my boyfriend and I decided to go to Tahoe for the July fourth at the last minute, this was pretty much the cheapest most decent place we could stay without paying $300 a night. The place was alright, the owners, particularly the wife, was really friendly. The breakfast was decent, better than I've had at other places. The room was small with only a small shower and no bathtub. In our room the toilet wouldn't flush completely unless you held down the knob for awhile. The door to the room didn't quite properly fit so there was a small crack. And out of our 3 nights there, two nights there were bugs in our room. We didn't spend much time in our room so we didn't really mind the quality. It was just a place to sleep. I have stayed at choice hotels before and this by far has been the worst one I have ever stayed in.

Got a room here for $60 on Expedia so that we could catch at least one ski day this season (albeit on manmade snow on the upper half of the mountain at Heavenly.) I would never pay more than $60 for a room like the one that we got -- tiny with a shoddy bathroom (the shower wasn't lit at all and the door didn't close properly) and  questionable spots on the bedsheet (which I covered with a towel while I was sleeping.)

On the other hand, they do offer free continental breakfast at 7am, and the staff were friendly enough. Oh, and free HBO.

Overall, a drive-up motel rather than what "inn & suites" would imply.

I'm from East Coast - Stayed there for couple weeks March - April, 2011.

Great value for your money, clean neat rooms and a convenient location - free bus shuttle picks up right in front of the hotel - a 3 minute ride to Heavenly Gondola.

Free wi-fi, free coffee & tea 24/7. Hotel advertised as having 'continental breakfast', however you get more then that -
hot sausage & eggs, on top of 'continental breakfast'.
Hot tub, quite nice one, outside, goes well with a glass of wine.

Very friendly staff - happy to assist with things like a bottle opener, toiletries, advice on local things to do, ect, ect.

I will come back here again next year.

This is a Motel, not an "Inn and Suites".  Clean but very worn out and in need of a remodel.  Room was drafty but the 2 heating systems were enough to keep it warm.  Front desk staff was very friendly.  The continental breakfast was average except one major bonus -- fresh made belgian waffles were a great touch.

Decent price + waffles means 3 stars instead of 2 :)

The room was clean, though definitely could have used some touch-up paint.  Same with the bathroom.

But the staff was excellent and the price was right.

This isn't the best place in Tahoe to stay (by far), but it worked.

For the price you can't beat it.  My room was upstairs, vaulted ceilings, very clean inside and out, super spacious, good amount of continental breakfast options, friendly front desk staff (can't remember the gentleman's name but I give him 5 stars!) and it's really close to the main hotels and attractions.  :)

Not really quality and not really a suite but...... the prices are pretty reasonable and the location is pretty convenient. Don't expect much more than a place to lay your head. This is a place to go when you are on a budget in Tahoe and you are not going to be spending much time in the room.

Booked the stay at the last minute through Expedia. The hotel was a big deception. The rooms are very old and the cleanliness doubtful. No sound insulation whatsoever and the traffic would make it hard to sleep. The free WiFi network was always unavailable due to too many connected users. Overall I think it was overpriced for the quality and I certainly regretted to have taken the whole family there even for one night. I would absolutely not recommend.

Found this hotel through Expedia, the room doesn't really look like what the pics looked like. But over all it wasn't bad. The shower curtain does need to be changed and a few more towels wouldn't hurt. But over all out stay wasn't bad. Would stay here again.

good value, just your average hotel, but super close to the casinos, free breakfast included, staff was helpful regarding activities, hiking trails, etc. mainly picked hotel due to location and because they also have smoking rooms, which is getting harder to find these days. blueberry pancakes are a nice touch

We stayed here for one night to come to a concert. For this type of lodging, it was overpriced as heck. But i think most lodgings along this city center is.

The place could use a new paint job and an update. If you come during a summer weekend esp for a special event, i suggest you look into alternative lodging farther away.

We were charged $150 for two beds and $30 for one bed. Most of the windows have no screens and it was so hot, we had to opent he windows. People coudl actually jump into your room through the window. The shower is kind of dated as well. I had a towel that is a little ripped, not sure if that's the one for the floor. I didn't like their 72 hour cancellation policy. There was no frig in the room.

The breakfast was very scant, just cereal and some pastries. i've had much more variety at La Quinta and other chain hotels.

If you were to come for a weekday and non-special events time, it would prob be a little lower. If i were to go to Tahoe again, I'd prob live a little away from the center of town since we have the car, but this time I took my mom there so we wanted convenience so didn't have a lot of choices.

Not sure who this person at the front desk was, but can I call him a stalker.

The check-in process was okay.  That was the only part that was okay.  After he checked me in, he turned into a stalker.  Watching every move that I did.  I not sure on how I felt about this person, but I was definitely disturbed about what he was doing.

First: check in - Fine
Second: Unloading my car - Horrible!  He watch me unload my car and left the front desk to do this!  He probably went and looked at my room a couple of times while I was gone.  Good thing I closed the blinds!

The rooms were decent.  Not what I was expecting, but okay.  The water pressure sucked!  You would have to take twice as long in the shower to get the way you want to feel.

I would not recommend anyone to stay here.   Just because of the service staff...

Booked the hotel through Expedia. My reservation said that the room was "Guaranteed for Late Arrival" so you do not need to call and confirm.

We reached the hotel close to after midnight. The lady at the front desk told us that we were marked as "no-show" and our room was sold off. There were no apologies or any other help offered. She just asked us to deal this with Expedia. When I showed her that the room was guaranteed, she said that was between me and Expedia and that she cannot do anything about this.

All this happened during the Labor Day weekend. All the other hotels/lodges/inn were completely booked. We had to drive back 70 miles towards SFO to find a small motel on the roadside.

As a result of us being denied our rightful room, we had to spend nearly 8 hrs on the road in search of a room. Our whole day was wasted as we could barely get some sleep before we got back to Tahoe and spend a couple of hours of what was left of our vacation. The staff was completely unhelpful and there was no hint of an apology.

Stay away from this place at all costs.

EDIT: Been more than a week now and I still haven't heard back from Expedia or Quality Inn's mother ship, whom I had written to highlighting these issues.

We couldnt get any good rates on a hotel for a last minute trip to South Lake Tahoe. Quality inn's price was the cheapest we could find without have to pay for a sleezy motel.
Ultimately...you get what you pay for. Musty SMALL tiny room. Feels like im sleeping right next to the toliet!
OLD OLD hotel, when you lay on the bed and look up to the ceiling you can see that its been fixed and re painted many times. No fridge, no microwave, no amenities. No fan in the bathroom, so just open a window! Swap cooler, and big old giant old school tv. :)
I wouldnt come back, but hey we were on a tight budget. Tahoe is beautiful.

I booked this on line for the reward points. I was disappointed in the appearance of the property, it is run down and not very well kept. When we asked about the laundry the clerk said "the washer is broken but the dryer works.". Now what good is dryer if you can't wash the clothes? The hot tub was out of service also. Definitely overpriced.

This place needs some serious help!  Don't go by the pictures on the internet - they are not accurate!  The staff was nice and my bed was comfortable but that is about all the positives.  The room was dirty!   The carpets were obviously NOT vacuumed, the bathroom was dirty with bits and crumbs on the counter and it was old and out-dated.  The stairs were worn out the parking lot is a mess and the walkway for the upstairs rooms is slanted - I though it would crumble after walking on it.   It cost me a little over $100 for one night and I would not come back.  I'd rather pay a little more to ensure a clean and updated room somewhere else.

We spent the weekend here, and it was pleasant. Not perfect, but pleasant enough. Nice place overall. Our room was on the ground floor, :) and our bed was wonderfully comfortable. The pillows were too soft for me, I like more neck support. I was surprised that there was no fridge in the room. Nice space and lighting.
We were puzzled the next day because our room was never really serviced. The bed wasn't made, but housekeeping did come in and take our towels. Just took them without replacement. I had to call to get some towels brought in. (This was like 2 in the afternoon, so I thought the room should have been service by then.) To be fair after I called, the office offered to have the room cleaned now. I said, nah, that's alright. Sheesh. The in house breakfast was alright. The hot tub had chips of paint missing here and there and we could hear the pump grinding. It sounded like the hot tub has seen better days. Would I stay here again? Yes. Now that I know what to expect. Bring a cooler with you if you want a fridge in the room.
Good value for the money and location.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We left after 5 minutes in this room. The chemical stench was unbearable.  He said it was a cleaner, but we have a 2 year old and didn't want to take any chances.
We booked through Travelocity- who I do not recommend because of this incident...  They would not issue us a refund because a person at this hotel 'Ashton' completely lied and told them that we didn't complain and we actually did stay there.  the room was $180 a night! we have credit card receipts of the OTHER hotel we did actially stay in that night. So it's our word against there's, and of course it's more profitable to not listen to the consumer.
These people have no integrity. And what's worse - their rooms stink!
It wouldn't let me give them 0 stars...

Stayed here for New Year's Eve and wish I didn't.

They charged me to have a guest over, which meant a $20 something fee. Literally, you cannot have anyone even VISIT you without paying a fee. Funny, they charged me for 3 people, but only gave us one shower towel and one hand towel in the room.

It was 3am when we noticed (we checked in at midnight to drop off our stuff and head out) and we were too exhausted to call and wait for towels. By the way, the room had two queens.  You would hope that with a room that had two queen beds, it would at least warrant two sets of towels.

The heater in the room is apparently built in the wall and that wall was HOT to the touch! Fire hazard?! At least the heat worked. Unfortunately, the heat for the water, did not.

Walls are thin, so you hear everything, including obnoxious girls slamming their hands on their friend's window at 8am after NYE.

$410 for one night in a double queen. No fridge, no microwave, but we DID get a coffee pot. Only with no coffee. I was expecting a little more than the usual run down motel, but I was definitely disappointed.

Complete rip off and I deeply regret stepping foot here. I was hoping it would be a nice place to stay at stateline when we go up to Heavenly to ride for the weekend, but no thanks.

I booked a room at this place through Orbitz but arrived at the motel late at night. The front door was locked but there was a sign saying to use the telephone off to the side to call the front desk. So I called and called...and called again. no answer for about 15-20 minutes. I could even hear the front desk phone ringing from where I was standing. I can't even imagine how customer service is whenever you need something if you actually get to check in. Ended up staying at another motel in the area. I'd give these guys 0 stars but we all know that's not possible

This hotel was probably the worst I've ever stayed in.  The only positive was that the lady at the front desk was really nice.  I made a mistake in my reservation and she was able to move it.  But the price was a rip off.  The door was jammed shut...there was something brown on the ceiling that I didn't want to imagine what it was, there were hairs on the sheets,  a fluorescent bulb in the bathroom that flickered all night and the beds were hard as a rock.  The room was on the second floor and the walkway seemed unstable.  Also, the decor took you back to the 70s in not a good way.

WORST MOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!!! They actually have somebody lurking in the shadows at 2am to watch their guests! Creepy? Um, definitely!! I have never felt SO uncomfortable! How was I to know whether it was an employee of the motel or a serial killer?? Plus, after being a guest for two days, we never received any cleaning or towel service for our room. In fact, we had to take it upon ourselves to fix our leaking toilet!! And the owner, Mr. Patel? Highly unprofessional, rude and is running his business right into the ground! I will NEVER stay at this location or any other Quality Inn & Suites as the company doesn't seem to monitor the level of "Quality" at their locations. Not willing to take the same risk again! Be forewarned...you do not want to stay here!!!!

On the spur of the moment we headed for Tahoe and ended up on an adventure at the Quality Inn. This is not our normal type of hotel we stay at but it was late and we really wanted to "just pick a place." Yeah.....never again.
The guy at the front desk was very friendly but TMI on the information he shared. Talked about how the restaurant they were leasing to was really not good and the manager there was a Dic#. A little wow for me but thought...well maybe the guy just needed to vent.
Got our room and wow....needed some serious renovation. Wall paper peeling off, comforter looked like something you'd put down for your dog. No trash bags in the broken garbages, yes I said broken as they had huge cracks down them. The worn out wall heater and wall A/C unit is another story from 1957. The bath towels looked more like hand towels and were coming apart at the seems....oh but the wash cloths were tied in bows. How does this make it better....it doesn't. LOL
Got up early to shower and leave as quickly as possible and ants in the bathroom...yes you read right...ants.
Never doing low budget again....sleeping in our car would of been better, at least heated seats and no fear of bugs or dirty sheets.
Sorry but this place is bad.

Terrible experience. Don't go to this hotel. They scam to make money. We stayed one night several days after Christmas. Before we went there, we checked another inn, and were told they were full and told us if we went to Quality Inn, we'll have a discount. We checked the price online, and found the price for one room was around 100. We then went there, and they qouted us 100 for each room, which was basically the same as it says online. We then told them we came from another hotel to see if they can give us a discount. They then reduced the price to 70 per room. We asked for 2 rooms, which makes it 140 in total. But when we got home, we found that we were charged twice. I asked my credit card company to dispute one transaction. But later, they called me that I signed to agree the price which was 140 for each room. This is so RIDICULOUS! Of course I trusted those people, and didn't read before I signed. But we don't have proof for what really happened.

Besides, there was basically no quality with the inn at all. I would not recommend anyone to stay there.

EDIT: I just want to add that this motel has seriously been the motel from hell. It's been almost 2 months since we stayed here and we still have a dispute going on and Mr. Raj Patel (the owner) continues to lie and make claims that are completely false. Tries to make me look like I am in the wrong. I truly have never experienced worse customer service. Please do not stay here. It's not worth it.

Honestly this motel doesn't even deserve 1 star. Idk why it's called Quality Inn because there is nothing quality about it. We stayed here for New Years thinking that it would be an affordable and nice place to stay while in South Lake Tahoe. Well we were definitely wrong. To start, there were so many problems with the room. The TV only had one working channel - public access television, and the HBO movie channel that they claim is available wasn't because our remote was broken and we couldn't use the TV buttons to change to the special channel needed for that. The bed was uncomfortable and there were stains on the sheets. At night the heater would turn on randomly and would get so hot I couldn't sleep with any blankets on. The coffee maker didn't work, and yes, we checked to make sure it was plugged in. The bathroom was disgusting including a shower with a falling apart drain, and a toilet that was constantly running. Every time we flushed we also had to open the lid and adjust the plug in the toilet to get it to stop. The water from the sink was orange, and when we poured it into a cup for some water to drink we definitely couldn't drink it and didn't even want to use it for brushing teeth. Also there was no fan in the bathroom, so after showers it was hard to air out - only way was to open the small window even though it was cold outside.

That all sounds pretty bad but here is the scariest part and the biggest reason why NOBODY should ever stay here... The owners and workers are scammers. After we checked out and got home we had a $150 charge on our card. We had no idea why because we left that room better than we found it, so we called in to ask. The owner gave HORRIBLE customer service, said that we had 5 people in our room when we should have only had 2 (which we didn't and when we asked for his proof he simply said his employee telling him so was enough proof). He told us he wouldn't send the document we signed about unpaid for guests so we could read it over again, and then proceeded to give terrible customer service by arguing over the phone and hanging up on us! And no, he never reversed the charge.

This place is a sad excuse for a business and I can see why they have to scam to make their money. If they actually gave some "quality" service they wouldn't have to steal to make their money. I'm warning you now, DO NOT STAY AT THIS DUMP!!

This place is crap! Rude rude staff! None of the outlets worked neither of our rooms. I had 2. I left an item at the hotel and asked the manager if he would be willing to send it to me and he REFUSED. Now i wouldn't be that mad if he said it nicely or apologized and said that was not there policy. He flat out told me well that's ur fault. No shit sherlock I was asking if ur towel head ass can possibly send it to me after spending over 300 at ur shit hole of an establishment.  I ended up creating a fed ex acct to have it shipped back to me. And the ass hole manager would NOT even box it for me. Luckily fed ex called me and said that is not their policy to wrap customer items, however, he saw that the manager was a douche and did for me. Even without that happening, carpets were filthy dnt bother taking off ur shoes. If u do expect to toss out white socks. Not to mention the showers leave u feeling dirtier than when u got in. Gross! But what do u expect when u have Indians running the joint..too cheap to fix it up. Call me racist idgaf. .I call it how I see it.

This Quality Inn is a 1960s vintage motor lodge about 1/2 mile from the Stateline casino area and Heavenly ski lift. As you'd expect from the age of the property, the rooms tend to be small and run down. The room we stayed in was reasonably clean. The door locked, and the AC, shower, and wifi worked fine. Complimentary breakfast in the morning involved scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, and packaged sweets. My wife and I passed on it, but many fellow guests were devouring it like manna from heaven.

The front desk staff, morning and night, were all friendly.

The cost of this place can be hard to swallow given the modest accommodations. I paid 120 all-in for a tiny room. But it was a Saturday night in the summer in Tahoe. Nicer hotels in town were running at least 40/night more.

We had a great experience. We showed the price of motel from Hotel.com so he took that price $49 a night. We asked for clean, non smoking room single bed. So we got a clean non smoking room. Before checking in we asked if we can see the room first just to make sure. For us it was great! We even got free breakfast! We loved it!! Most likely next trip we will stay there. Just be smart shopper, go on hotel.com and check the room before checking in.

OH MY GOD. This place is TERRIBLE.  My boyfriend and I happened to book a hotel for a South Lake Tahoe trip last minute and we didn't want to spend $350+ for a room at Harvey's or Harrah's. So we found Quality Inn for $180 a night.  Upon arrival, we were very skeptical of the place, it did not look well kept at all.  The pictures they have on their website make the rooms look decent enough just for sleeping purposes.. but oh were we WRONG.  We had to body slam our door just to get the damn thing open. Walking into the room we were both speechless because it seemed like they haven't updated a thing since 1992.  Three of the four lamps did not work.  We had to switch turns charging our iPhones on top of the vent because it was the only outlet that worked.  I had to ghetto rig the outlet in the bathroom so I could do my hair.  The floor was damp upon arrival... and after walking around barefoot for half an hour my feet were black with the filth that was seeped into the carpet (I've uploaded pictures of all of this on their photos so please take a moment to look!).  Last but not least THERE WAS A SHIT LEFT IN THE TOILET. So obviously they didn't even sanitize/clean the place from the last tenants... Their solution for cleaning the toilet was closing the lid!  And when confronting management about this, I was appalled.  The lady just said, "oh, let me flush that for you!"  Ummm... OKAY?! No, we were expecting our hotel room to be cleaned upon arrival but they couldn't comprehend the fact that our room was filthy.  They honestly thought coming into our room to flush the toilet was going to make us feel less disgusted? We just said no thank you and returned to our squalid room and endured the rest of the night laying in filth.  Good thing we had alcohol to make this experience a little more bearable, I would of lost my mind trying to sleep in this place sober.  This is seriously the most filthiest place I have EVER stayed at.  Absolutely disgusting.  Pay the extra $200 and go to somewhere more upscale.  Trust me, it's damn worth it. I'd give this place negative stars if Yelp would allow me to do so.

I only write reviews when something very positive or negative makes an impression on me.

What motivates me to write this review is the very friendly staff. We stayed here on the Fourth of July which would be trying on any staff but everyone was very positive and helpful.

As for the rooms - this is typical for budget Lake Tahoe motels.  The rooms are clean but a little bit bruised.

Three stars is right in my opinion. I gave four since I think the two star rating it has as I write this review is too low.

I would stay here again.

Shower is nasty. Toilet doesn't flush well. Wore flip flops and didn't touch walls or shower door. Carpet is worn and dirty. Ac is noisy.

It's worth about $49 to stay here. If you're with a few drunk friends that just need a place to crash.

Next time I'll plan ahead so I don't get stuck having to pay $170 for a dump.

Won't stay here again.

Starting with the good -- this place is pretty central to all goings-on on the main drag.

The bad? There's plenty. The walls are paper thin. We could hear the people in the room above us having vigorous, marathon sex. You hear just about everything else too -- doors slamming, people talking, footsteps. There's mold on the walls above the shower. Nothing really strikes you as clean. The carpet looks gross. I could go on.

If you plan on just using this place to crash between activities, it might suffice. But don't spend too much time here.

Wonder if the bad reviews were staying on an Event Weekend where you're packed in with tons of other people and paying  over $100 a night? Under those circumstances I'd probably be unhappy but my midweek $45 stay (really significantly less since there was a Choice Privileges free night promo involved) was just fine.

The lady at the front desk was nice and I noticed the next morning that she seemed to make an effort to stagger people with an empty room between each (there were only like 10 or so people that night). That's the kind of consideration that will get you my repeat business!

So no noise problems, though I didn't have anyone next door. Cleanliness of my room was fine. The standard queen rooms are a little small but to be fair they do warn you of this on the Choice website if you book through there. Not great for couples (unless one person is OK with jumping on the bed when the other needs to walk around) but for a single person w/o pets, totally fine.

Old 20" CRT TV but it worked well enough and had the good Charter Business TV package with all the channels. Wifi was very fast.

Bathroom shower stall was pretty tiny but otherwise no problems. They left two sampler tubes of Tom's toothpaste for some reason, which I wasn't expecting :)

Only minor disappointment was the breakfast is just the typical continental. Quality Inns usually have some sort of eggs and sausage at the very least, no hot stuff here though.

Pretty good location. About a 5 minute walk to Raley's and a heap of restaurants. 8 minutes or so to the gondola, Harrah's/Harvey's and the bus depot.

Apparently they're transitioning to being an Econo Lodge in April, so that may have explained the breakfast. That'll also mean that when Choice does their "stay 2 get 1 free" promo that they do 2 or 3 times a year, you'll have to stay here 2 consecutive nights to qualify instead of 1. If future stays are like this one was I certainly wouldn't mind coming back, though.
