Established in 2007.

My wife and I found the Fireside Lodge as an old motel that was in the process of being remodeled. We bought it and then finished the work in progress but took it to the level of what we wanted it to be. We had spent 9 years planning and designing what we wanted our ultimate Bed and Breakfast to be and then we found the perfect location. We spent the last 3 years and an enormous sum of money creating what we believe is the finest place to stay. My wife and I run the place day to day ourselves and take great pride in it. We have now been written up in over 50 books and magazines and reecently given the golden bone award from the Dog Companion Guide to the State Of California as the #1 Pet Friendly Hotel in the state. We were also just written about in the December 2009 issue of Ski Magazine and are one of the feature places to stay for Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort. Our business continues to grow every year and that is because we provide a great value and a quality product to our guests.

The Fireside Lodge is simply, "Amazing". Finally .... somebody "Gets It" and knows how to make the guest feel like welcome and like family. The owners, Christine and Dave are personable, attentive and know how to build loyalty. So may hotels, motels and B&B's miss this personal touch. From the evening wine and cheese selections out by the fire pit to the "KILLER" homemade waffels in the morning you truely will be a guest for life as we are. We are there 4 or 5 times a year because this place just feels good. No stuffy living room in an oversized house called a B&B here ... this is more like a hotel with almost a dozen individually themed suites complete with a kitchenette and gas fireplace. If you want to hang out in the lodge, it's inviting, cozy and there's even a game room. Who could forget to mention "Kona" ... the mascot. Such a loving 80 pounds of labradorious fun! Whether is's a ski weekend closeby or just use one of their fleet of bicycles and go to the beach, you can't go wrong at the Fireside lodge!

Fireside is probably one of the best places I've stayed at in Tahoe. The place is really charming as each room has it's own theme and it's own small kitchen area. The place is dog friendly as the owners have the sweetest Lab named Kona. They offer a lot of ammenities that some of the previous reviewers have mentioned but it's the friendly cozy feel that the owners have created that make this place so special. They even leave pillow chocolates and give you fresh baked chocolate chip cookies when you get there. Those little touches really make a difference.

Let it be known that this is a BED AND BREAKFAST, but it doesn't show up that way on yelp. This place has everything you could ever imagine, a delicious breakfast, complimentary wine and cheese in the evening, complimentary kayaks and snowshoes, an outside fire pit with complimentary make-it-yourself smores, old arcade games, complimentary snacks and drinks, beer on tap, a movie library, AND the owner will even take you out on his personal boat for a minimal charge.  The field and stream room I stayed in was beautifully decorated with a very cozy feel to it. To top it off, this place is pet friendly and very affordable. I definately regret not bringing my dog, but I will certainly be back. The owners are very friendly and even bake cookies to put in all the rooms as well as provide you with things you maybe forgot like toothpaste and q-tips.  I highly recommend this place.

Just got back from a "double date" weekend at Fireside lodge with my best friend and her husband. It was a great time and this place is adorable!

From the themed rooms, the kitchenettes in every room, the homemade cookies waiting for you in your room when you arrive, to the chill patio area with the fountain and hammock, and fire pit for roasting complimentary s'mores, to the amazing continental breakfast that out shines any I have had before, to the amazingly friendly service, the snacks, and cute doggie Kona who greets you every morning and whenever you return from an afternoon activity, it is just perfect.

We got up every morning to enjoy the breakfast and watch tv by the fire in the lounge. Then we borrowed their free beach cruises and took them on the picturesque bike trail next to the lodge that took us down to the beach and then to peak at the Renaissance Faire that was down the way before heading back. We got back in time to have some wine and cheese on the patio and relax to the sound of the fountain and enjoy some good conversation as well as to take advantage of the honor bar that includes a keg of a delicious microbrewery. Then when we returned after dinner we sat by the fire pit to roast s'mores.

Had we been there longer we would have borrowed the complimentary kayaks, played skeeball or pool in the game room, and reserved some time to relax in the private hot tub but there wasn't enough time to do it all. I guess we will just have to go back!

The only thing that was less than perfect was that the beds were a little uncomfortable and squeaky but everything else more than made up for that. We will definitely be going back!

In addition to being pet friendly, this bed and breakfast made it to my top list of hotels to stay at because of the endless amenities that turned up almost behind every corner! From the doggy towels and blankets in our room, to the wine and cheese happy hour every day, the complimentary beverages by the private jacuzzi to the honor bar in the main room, the thoughtfulness and care that the two lodge owners, David and Christine, put into this newly remodeled property really exceeded my expectations. The price was right, paid average B&B price for a 4 to 5 star hotel stay. And how can a trip go badly when I can bring my 'family member' dog everywhere on the property!? I will absolutely return!

We just got back from staying at the Fireside Lodge for 2 nights just after the rush had left from the three day weekend.  We had a GREAT time!   It was the perfect place for us to take our two little ones to the snow and experience Lake Tahoe for the first time.  From the moment we got there, Cathy gave us a tour and told us we could hang out in the lodge as long as we liked,  Well, we pretty much did that if we weren't sledding in their man-made hill or at Sierra.  We spent 4 hours hanging out in the game room, winning tickets, playing games, puzzles, air hockey and drinking some wine and beer during their happy hour.  Cathy who works there Mondays and Tuesdays only, was very friendly and hospitable.  The breakfast was awesome with make your own waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, juice, coffee, mochas, etc.  They had a binder of restaurants to choose from in the area which we ended up having it delivered and ate in our room.  Our room was big and cozy.  We had a king size bed with two bunk beds, a kitchenette, fireplace, t.v. and table.  The owner's dog Kona was very popular with the kids and very friendly.  The guests that we met were also very nice and since it was during the week, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves at times.  We didn't get to really meet the owners until our last day, but they seemed nice.  We were very pleased with Cathy and the staff.  We will come back for sure when the kids are ready to learn how to ski.

Wow a really great place to stay! We had cabin 7 (true west) and it was very nice! The room was clean. The gasfireplace was very warm (to regulate) and cozy. The bed was just too soft. That's the only thing. I'm glad they allow dogs. The house dog (lab) Kona is very friendly. Continental breakfast was included and it was very good. Bagels, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, cereals, wafflemaker, milk, oj, tea, coffee etc! Even snacks like power bars and bananas were there all day long. We borrowed the snow shoes which was lots of fun (and for free). We also rent the whirlpool & sauna room for an hour and we were sooo relaxt! That was so great! It was pretty pricey for us but after that we felt the stay is really worth the money. The owner are really nice and they thought of everything. They even have shavers, toothpaste etc. in the bathroom:) Oh and the bathroom was very clean and the shower head was amazing:) At 7-9pm you can roast marshmallows outside over the gasfirepit and from 5-7 they have crackers and cheese etc in the dining room area.

I can go on forever about this place, so here - I'll tell you what you need to know, WITH BULLET POINTS:

- very dog-friendly, yet with NO DOG SMELL. Seriously, none.

- very kid-friendly. There's a cozy game room, and also stock of movies
and board games to enjoy in the main lodge or in your room.

- WAFFLES. I can't stress this enough. Two waffle irons, and a huge inventory of toppings for you to go nuts on.

- mini-fridge and kitchenette. If you have kids or don't feel like going out for every single meal ever, you know what a draw this is.

- the forest is right out back. So if you want to play in the snow, there is no reason whatsoever to pack everyone in the car to find it.

- fire pit.

Bottom line: This is a wonderful, comfortable, relaxed place to flop down, let the kids and dog run, have a smore and beer by the firepit, and be happy. And please - this place is like visiting friends, so be friendly, K?  ^__^

Attention to detail is what the Fireside Lodge exudes.  This was our first family trip to Lake Tahoe.  My wife and I came with our 2 daughters (2 and 3 years old).  We were greeted by Christine (owner) and Kona (very kid friendly Lab).  My daughters fell in love with Kona right away.  This is a very "dog friendly" and we were the only ones who didn't have a dog but we still had a very good experience.  The rooms are very clean.  No pet odor or hair at all.  Freshly baked cookies when you first enter your room.
The fireplace works extremely well. We were here during snow season so that was perfect for us.
The fridge was stocked with bottled water and the restroom had all of the small items you need. My wife said that it had some lotion in there that she forgot to bring.  I really liked the shaver that was in the basket.  Flat screen TV is mounted on the wall with cable and the rooms had FREE wifi.
Game room was fun for the kids.  The other reviewer 300's in skeeball, my little girls averaged 30.  Dave (Christine's husband) helped me figure out where to go for fun activities. He was really helpful and friendly.  Chelsea was extremely helpful in checking us out and planning our trip home (there was a snow storm).
Breakfast was great!  Kitchen was stocked with food and even do it yourself waffles!  There is coffee and snacks available throughout the day.  Happy hour had wine with a nice spread of cheese and crackers.  Smore beside the firepit was available but we couldn't make that event.
The location of this place was also great.  Nestled in the south side of Lake Tahoe but not too far away from stores and restaurants.
Fireside Lodge is truly the gem of Lake Tahoe.  I am bringing back my other family members next summer for another trip.  Thanks again guys!

We just returned from a 2-night getaway to SLT, and Fireside lodge was much better than I could have hoped for.  Here are more details about this inn than anyone could want.

We were in the "angler" room, because it has more floorspace for the port-a-crib (our own). The room had a microwave, fridge, coffeepot, small slow cooker, and toaster (so you could make dinner!!!)  There're dishes enough for 4, water bottles, and paper towels.  There is an excessively large table with 2 chairs, and a tall chest of drawers. The shower had REALLY good water pressure, and plenty of hot water for us.

The hotel has a "common room", with a kitchen (available for use 1-9 pm), 2 large tables/chairs, and a fireplace with rocking chairs and large flatscreen. There's a game room with 2 old video games (ms pacman and a shooter) for $.25, air hockey, and skeeball. There's a nice dvd/video library. The dining room has an honor bar (they ask $5/shot or $3/beer) and games library.

In the common room, there're snacks available through the day: cereals, fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), boiled eggs, yoplait yogurts, water, apple juice, v8, oj, milk. There's also a "mocha/hot chocolate" machine. There're cookies, and marshmallows, and there's s'mores roasting party at 7. For breakfast, they also take out breads, bagels, butter, pb, cream cheese, jellies etc, as well as u-make waffles - the batter is pre-measured, so you just pour, wait, and then top a fresh waffle with nuts and such.  The hours are generous - 8-11 - so if you don't have a 2 year old jumping on your stomach and can sleep in, you can still get some breakfast. For wine hour, they'd some nice cheeses and crackers.
The owners' dog, Kona, was VERY patient with our kid, so we didn't worry about scratches and bites.

There's a jaccuzzi that you can use "whenever" or reserve for private use. It's outside, but under a roof and there's a space heater and dry sauna as well.

The best part for us was the sledding hill in the backyard, lit for night play, and more than an hour's walk of forest beyond that. We borrowed a sled, put our child in it, and went for a nice hike. Stopped twice to make snowmen  - idyllic, really.

So why the 4 stars? At the end of the day, it's all about the bed, and the one in our room was far from perfect. The mattress was too soft from overuse, and the pillows were of that cheap springy material that can't really be shaped in any way. I think they're good for back-sleepers, but everyone else - not so much.

Will we be back? Absolutely will try. But I'll bring my own pillow.

We stayed for 3 days and loved this place.  It's got charm, really good hot breakfast, near awesome stuff like the state park this is several old 1920s vacation mansions.

Our room and the public sitting room had fireplaces, and were decorated really rustically.  There is a fire pit with smores stuff each evening.  Totally indulgent, and a great place to have conversations with travelers and a cocktail from the DIY bar in the evening.

I loved having bicycles right there, no extra rental fee, no waiting at a bike company.  Christine took care of every customer and had guidebooks about the local attractions on the lounge.

And, you can book private time in the hot tub and dry sauna.

It had all the customer service of an expensive hotel, but a lower price and the quaintness of a B and B in a 1940's style motel.

We bought groceries and made lunches in our small kitchen, then dressed up for dinners out.

check out the rooms   tahoefiresidelodge.com   the photo on their main page is the smore fire pit in front of the motel office.  I giant wooden bear watches you cook the marshmallows.

I will be back.

Warning - many business in Tahoe rip tourists off by charging customers to park when you try to rent jet skis or bikes or eat.  Find the businesses who aren't irresponsible.  This is so rural, there is no excuse for charging customers.  It's not NYC or SF.

The State Park that is Pope and Valhalla Estates just west of Fireside Lodge has free parking and you can walk along the beach and have several hikes.  The old summer vacation lodges these families built are wonderful.

Vikingsholm charges to park, but is totally cool.  It's a mansion converted to a museum.  You can bring a picnic here.

I stayed here with a group of girls Summer of 2007.  I have never stayed anywhere like this!  It was perfect for what we were looking for.  It's not very private, but the amenities are great!  They have a fire pit, hot tub, full kitchen, living room, and game room to share with other guests.  Did I mention DIY bar and fresh baked chocolate chips?  :)  They even have kayaks to borrow for free!!  Everything is really clean too!

The owners are WONDERFUL!!  You can tell they put their heart and soul into this.  Their dog Kona is adorable too.

It's in driving distance to recreation, restaurants and the casinos.  I wish it were closer to other attractions though.  As you can see from the pics there are themed rooms, so make sure to ask what is available.

A hot tub you can reserve for private use, nightly s'mores, evening wine & cheese, bikes you can borrow, a game room with prizes, kitchenettes, fireplaces, updated decor, friendly inn keepers, dogs welcome, near the bike path & beaches, not too far from skiing, AMAZING waffle breakfasts, extra amenities, return guest discounts. . . . what's not to love?  We'll be going back regularly, for sure.  We stayed there this past March, and we've already reserved our next stay in December.  Can't wait!

Amazing for our whole family!! If you have kids this will be their favorite place!  I saw this place on-line and we decided to give it a shot. Super cute rooms-very clean, very accommodating. They go the extra mile to make sure their guests have everything they need.  I am 29 and after years of staying in corporate hotel chains it is refreshing to see people that take pride in their establishment and care about people having a good time- this kind of thing only existed before my time (or so Ive heard).

We decided to come up for a 2 day getaway so the kids could play in the snow.  I didn't want to schedule anything like ski lessons- my 5 1/2 year old would have enjoyed that but I had visions of my almost 4 year old stomping around in the snow complaining while I paid a ski instructor to watch.  This place had everything we wanted. In the morning you get to make your own waffles with batter they supply (super easy and delicious- the set up on this is so cute) there were juices, hardboiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, many seasoning, fruits, etc.... even syrup warmers. They have coffee and one of those machine that puts out hot chocolate, mocha, French vanilla, etc that you are free to use anytime.  They make a sled hill out back and there are plenty of sleds to choose from....They even build a snow staircase up the side of it so it is easy for the younger kids to climb up.  Complementary snow shows or skis if you want to give it a try.  We didn't have anything to make a snowman with and they got us a hat, scarf, buttons for the face and little plastic eyeballs for the kids to put on.

When not in the snow my son was in the game room playing air hockey and ski ball. The machine gives tickets and they have a prize cabinet set up so by the end of your stay they can pick a prize. They also have one of the old claw machines that actually picks up the stuffed animals.  My daughter was thrilled to win a couple of those.

There was a full honor bar for the adults- make yourself a drink and throw some money in the bucket, and beer on draft. In the evening they do complementary wine and cheese and it really brings the guests together- Next thing you know people were busting out $200 bottles of wine and tequilas from 1921 lol. One night I was in there until midnight with everyone-  It was a great time- great people.  They also do complementary marshmallow roast for everyone at 7pm at their outdoor fire-pit that all the kids really enjoyed. They had a Jacuzzi and sauna and also an entire dvd/vhs library that you are welcome to choose from and take back to your room.
P.S. They spent $4000 per mattress- Best bed I've ever slept on!

There were so many things that made this place amazing. It was great to go up to Tahoe with no agenda and have EVERYONE in our family have a great time. We will be back soon!

Me and my fiance went to Tahoe this past weekend and got to stay in this little b&b. The place is beautiful! It's also very cozy and friendly and provides you with pretty much everything you need, from full bar, Lagunitas on Tap, smores, happy hour of wine and cheese, movies, pop corn, sauna, awesome breakfast. Well, I could just go on and on. The owners are great and even gave us a coupon for a restaurant!
It's pet friendly, which is awesome and they have no problem with having the dogs around the main area. They even gave us blankets and treats for our dog!
The rooms are great as well, very big and comfortable... there's also a fire place in each room.
Once there, I really felt like staying in the hole time instead of going out because there's a lot of great things to do like playing board games or even pacman!
We had a wonderful time and we'll definitely be back next month with our dog.
The rates seem a little bit too much at first but we even got a discount because it was just the 2 of us. Also you can bring your own food and cook it in the main kitchen or in your own which is good if you don't feel like going out and spend money.
Once we did the check out they even offer us to take some snacks with us for the road and hot chocolate. How great is that?
We're really happy to have found this place!!

I agree with all previous reviewers in saying that the place is charming, quaint, unique, homey, all that good stuff. From the outside it is hard to distinguish from the many roadside motels in Tahoe. However, once you get in the rooms and meet the owners and Kona the dog the true essence of Fireside Lodge will emerge.

I wish we stayed longer to use the jacuzzi and make some smores on the fire pit. But, we did take advantage of the wine and cheese hour and honor bar over a game of scrabble. The breakfast was definitely much better than a typical continental. They have a waffle bar with suggested recipes, fresh bagels, cereal, and all types of goodies. I thought the fresh cookies in the room with Stride gum on the end table was a nice touch too. They definitely pay attention to detail and it is indeed true that it is the little things that count!

If it were possible to give this place more than five stars I would. All the perks that other reviewers have mentioned are all true. I started writing this review almost immedieatly as soon as I got home.

We go to quite a few places and stay in many hotels but ever have I met innkeepers so dedicated on making people feels so welcome. They absolutely define what it is to be great hosts. Unlike other stuffy bed and breakfasts, this is the only place I've been to that is romantic, cozy, sweet, warm and family friendly all at the same time.

Lake Tahoe gave us a weekend filled with breathtaking sights, like the hike towards Eagle Lake, the sunset followed by the moonrise at Keva Beach and the absolutely perfect Zephyr Cove (the northern part of which is very dog-friendly). All recommended by our gracious hosts.

To the wonderful family at Fireside Inn, be happy and rest assured that they have created a wonderful getaway that will benchmark of all of our weekend stays.

To Fireside's future guests, bring a friendly smile and your positive attitude and you will get so much more in return.

If you want a clean, charming, quaint, pet firendly and relaxing environment , this is it. The longer we stayed, the more we liked it. You can use the lodges 2 kayaks or the bikes at no charge which is free for all and first come first serve. There are many bikes to go around, so you can be sure you'll have your chance, Thank goodness we booked several months in advance. because the place was booked the entire 4 days we were there, and we still were able to take several bike rides at our convenience.

Although it was booked, it was quiet and relaxing the entire time except for one thrilling evening. 2 AM. or so - we had the pleasure and excitement to hear a pack of coyotes howl a screeching song after their successful hunt. Ironically, they were right behind the property which is up against the national forest. Never heard such sounds so close, but it was very interesting and thrilling to hear, and believe me - it's loud. Apparently they could be seen through some of the cottage windows. It was a memorable night, and it lasted about 10 minutes or so. We woke because we had our window cracked open for the fresh mountain air. It was amazing to hear this.

Kona - Christen and Dave's furry yellow companion - is the sweetest gentle lab. She was EXCELLENT with adults and babies. The drive to the casinos is about 10 minutes. This is a very clean environment a paved bike trail a stone throw away. You can take the trail to a beach which is about a mile down the path, and be sure to bring a picnic basket. It's romantic and quiet. You can also ride the bikes to Camp Richardson which is maybe a 20 minute ride. There you will find a coffee shop, clothing store and a place to eat lunch.

We also had the pleasure to cook a wonderful meal for our family and friends with the fish we caught with Omalley's. Awesome trip, and we can't wait to return next year. Also, great location for skiers which we will be visiting again during the ski season.

This is the best place to stay in South Lake Tahoe.  Your room will be nicely decorated with some kind of Tahoe or Western theme.  There are mini-refrigerators, dishes, a microwave and a small crock pot in each room.
Breakfast is included, as well as snacks (cheez-its, granola bars) during the day.  Happy hour includes free wine and cheese, and at night they have a fire pit with all the makings for smores.  During spring, summer and fall they have bikes they let you use, and in winter I think they loan you snowshoes (I'm not certain of this one, but I seem to recall the owners mentioning this).
The owners, Dave and Christine, and their dog Kona, are genuinely nice and after one stay there you feel you've made new friends.

The best compliment I can give to a business is to write about it. If I could give this place a 10 I wouldn't hesitate!

My husband and I were on a 10 day road trip. We had just spent 3 night primitive camping in Death Valley. The staff are experts on showing their guests a good time. The lodge has been tastefully decorated by Christine. It is evident Dave and Christine love what they do =]

We are fairly well-traveled and Fireside Lodge was something truly unique. My favorite part was the ski-ball, the honor bar, and their dog Kona. There is nothing better than enjoying the hot tub and sauna after a long day of snowshoeing.

Keep up the great work! We will surely be back.

From the road, the Fireside Lodge doesn't look like the type of place you'd want to stay if you're picky, but it's seriously the best deal on the lake. Dave and Christine moved up to Tahoe from Los Angeles a few years ago and boy, they did it up like a playpen for adults.

The lodge is pimped out with serious toys: skeeball and Pac-man and a fire pit and a snack station (candy and popcorn available 24/7) and a full bar with local beer on tap and a $17K hot tub (no joke -- it changes colors and plays Enya) and sleds/kayaks/bikes for borrowing and about 1,000 DVDs of movies you'd actually want to watch. And it's pet-friendly and starts around $140/night to boot.

The word is out about this place -- they were sold out last weekend and it's the low season, so book your room early. There are private cabins available for renting but they're off-campus so you'll be returning often to take advantage of breakfast, happy hour, and nightly s'mores (or any of the other amenities).

We'll be back for ski season, for sure.

The self-serve bar was a pleasant surprise. You can even bring your drinks into the hot tub (which you can reserve ahead of time so that you dont have to share it with anybody else!).

I also found the game room to be quite a nice touch. That said, I was only scoring in the high 300s on the skee-ball machine which is HIGHLY unusual for me...

I LOVE Fireside Lodge.  It is a MUST if you go to Tahoe.

The owners are awesome! We stayed up quite late talking to David over smores. Christine and Dave make you feel like family when you stay. Both are very considerate and attentive.  You can tell right away that a lot of effort has been made in making your stay a special experience. They have thought of everything! To really enjoy it, I would say you would have to spend at least two nights there. We only spent one and we didn't want to leave!

A very important note to add: This bed and breakfast is CLEAN. Very clean, and for some of you who have had scary experiences in questionable places you will understand how very appreciative you can be to find such a sanitary place.

We love the place so much that we booked our wedding here. We are sooo excited to have found such a gem for our most special day.

You're a guest, not a customer at the Fireside Lodge.  Somehow, they've developed a sense of unobtrusive hospitality.  I always feel like they can meet any need we have, but allow us the space to do our own thing.

I agree with many of the other comments:  location is great, breakfast is "simple but delicious," and the "fireplace was very warm."

Don't hesitate about booking a room.  It's actually nicer than it looks.

Warning:  they recently added an agreement about appropriate children's behavior at check-in.  I would have found it disturbing if I had stayed there before.  Reasonably behaved children are welcome and do fine.  In fact, my 3 year old met another 3 year old and had a blast playing together without any incident.

What a fantastic place! My mother and I stayed at The Fireside Lodge recently and we both absolutely fell in love with the place. The owners obviously take great pride in their lodge and make your stay there more than comfortable. Their fabulous four legged friend, Kona was so welcoming. It was nice to have a pet and family friendly environment. The location is fabulous. There is a trail 1/2 a block away that goes all the way to Camp Richardson and the beautiful Pope Beach. Our room was clean, comfortable and we slept like babies. This is a spot we will return to year after year.

I loved everything about my two night stay at Fireside Lodge, the owners were beyond nice, from the moment we arrived we were given a tour of all the goodies they offer wine and cheese, dvd's to relax with popcorn and snacks, relax by the fire and make your own smores, breakfast in the morning with wonderful waffles and toppings etc. Our new best friend Kona (lab dog) who scratched at our door to come in for a visit.  I got exactly what I wanted from this Lodge to relax and be pampered. Thank you for the wonderful experience, I look forward to our return trip.

The Fireside Lodge is my new happy place.

I should start by saying that I'm a student and shelling out $190 per night, after tax and plus $20 doggie cleaning fees, was pretty steep for me and I spent some time deciding if it was worth it before booking but as soon as I actually got there, I never thought about the money again. It's the kind of place that makes you wish you had more money and time to enjoy life.

Upon arrival, Christine immediately gave us a tour, showing us the dining room where snacks are always available, the hot tub that you can reserve for private sessions, the movie collection, the game room, the honor bar where you can make your own drinks and beer is on tap and then to our room which was adorable and so cutely decorated. We brought our dog and our room came with a welcome kit for her, complete with doggie blankets, pooper scoopers, and treats. We got our own welcome treat with freshly baked cookies. They had me at the cookies.

This place is also wonderfully located and we found a beautiful dog lake within 5 miles and spent our first afternoon there. Then we got back because from 5-7, there is complimentary wine and cheese. We watched our dog play with Kona, the resident lab, and laid in the hammock sipping wine. Bliss.

The next day, Christine was there to show us the ins and outs of the breakfast bar. When we asked for hiking recommendations, Christine immediately pulled out a book and made photocopies of different trails. We did the Eagle Lake hike and got back in time to do a short bike ride to the beach. We finished off the night with a soak in the hot tub, made some s'mores on the fire pit and then popped some popcorn and caught up on some tv shows at night.

This doesn't even begin to describe all the amazing little touches that made our trip so wonderful. Check out is normally at 10 am and check in at 3 pm but we were switching rooms that day so they finished our room around 10 so that we could easily move our stuff. Plus, I think there's only something like 7 cabins and I couldn't figure out how 7 cabins takes 5 hours to clean but then I realized, it's because they actually CLEAN. Everything was spotless and I felt like I was living in someone's home rather than a hotel.

Plus my dog is out of control about toys and found Kona's toy box in no time and would constantly drag out her toys and run in the grass with it and Christine and Dave and Kona all took this in stride. Oh! And the bathrooms come fully stocked with shampoo, lotion, a razor and toothpaste. All those things you always forget to pack. It's awesome.

Really, I wish I could write so much more about this place but some things are probably better to be experienced on your own. It really is my happy place and I can't wait to go back.

An absolutely special B & B in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. The staff is extremely friendly and Kona, the house Labrador is wonderful and will accompany you on your excursions out on the 10 acre property. They even have sleds to use and a small hill out back that they make for the kids to sled down. Add to that a pit fire at night and marshmallow roasting goods included in your room fee, and a breakfast complete with individual pancake makers and fresh juice. I would and have recommended the Fireside Lodge to any friends that want a great experience in South Lake Tahoe. Pets and kids are welcome, and if you bring your doggy, you will find a full set up in your room for Fido, complete with treats and a blanket for your pooch to sleep on. And if you decide to leave the kiddies at home, they also have a hot tub out back for evening soaks with your sweetie

This was our 2nd family trip with our dog Drake.  Easily one of the most fun vacations, we went off season in end of April.  4 legged son was able to sneak in to enjoy the amazing views and clean water before the Memorial Day rush was perfect at nearby Camp Richardson and Pope Beach, the water is so clear and clean!!
Close drive to Emerald Bay and Eagle Falls off Rt 68, both dog friendly, but very convenient close drive to casinos and food.
Walls thick enough to enjoy any amorous exploits with the tv turned on low.
Our western them #7 was perfect, with John Wayne and horse saddle was a perfectly enjoyable theme to match the wood panels and gas fireplace.
Every morning 8-11am is a late breakfast, but you can make your own fresh waffles with fruit topping, or make a bacon and egg sandwich with toasted bagels, side of yogurt and fruit, fresh coffee or orange juice, canned apple or V8 was a great variety and they didn't mind if you made an extra snack or lunch to your room.
Very comfy beds, tv was lame and small, free wifi decent but you don't go to tahoe for TV or check email, it's a place to unplug and enjoy nature.  Bathroom was small, but clean, some chipped paint and small dirt marks, but overall nothing disgusting.
Game room with skeeball , Ms Pac Man and Galaga for 25cents brought me flashbacks that left me grinning during free happy hour time 5-7pm with wine and cheese selection with some sliced salami and crackers you can chat with others, or just grab and go.
I can be picky and give minus stars for late breakfast start or gas fireplace and firepit, but that keeps the pollution down, so it's all good and we enjoyed.
Free bike and kayak rentals, hike the bike trail to the beach in 15 min was just perfect and we were so sad to go.  We were cheap and brought a cooler with Safeway shopping supplies helped to keep costs down (this place is not cheap, but so enjoyable for family of any kind especially furry),
We will visit again with our dog Drake, it was just so much fun and quiet relaxing fun off season with no bugs or crowded traffic.  Enjoy the fresh air and wake up early for a quiet empty forest walks troll, to see the family of blue jays or woodpecker.  A family of coyotes give you a funny look but run away and don't bother you.  A small chipmunk will scurry past your view to hide, a hawk will be seen gliding high in the sky looking for mice or voles.
I can see why Tahoe is a well traveled destination, this particular location is a spectacular value.

Very nice, pet-friendly, CLEAN place to stay.  The owners live on-site and are very accommodating and gracious hosts.  A better-than-average-serve-yourself breakfast is available from 8am; an extensive DVD library for movie watching; a game room; and the owners'  sweet dog, Kona, pays visits to rooms if invited in.  Very cozy, homey feel to the place.  We'd return again.

There is no better place to stay in Tahoe than the Fireside Lodge!

After waking up in a comfortable bed at in your charming cabin-like room (we had the Tahoe themed room), you hit the Lodge for breakfast, where you make your own Belgian waffle and load it down with various toppings.  If you want to head out after, you can borrow a complimentary bike or kayak from the lodge, or you can ask the owners for ideas on activities in Tahoe.  If you simply want to stay in to enjoy the lodge, you can play in the game room or borrow a DVD from Christine's impressive video library to watch in your own room.  The honor bar, where you can your own drinks or a beer from the tap, is available all day, but be sure to be back by 5:00 for complimentary wine and cheese during the Happy Hour.  There are a ton of great restaurants with varying price points nearby, many just down the road.  If you're not hitting the casinos at night, you can gather around the fire pit for s'mores with the owners and other guests.  I know that's a lot and yet I'm still leaving out so much, so be sure to check out the Fireside Lodge website ( tahoefiresidelodge.com ).

To echo the other reviews: this truly is the most dog-friendly place ever.  However, if your dog doesn't play nice with people or other pets, keep it at home.  Tahoe is dog heaven, and the owners provide anything you may need for your dog.  You'll see Kona, Dave and Christine's own "yellow bear," hanging out in the lodge and playing with the guests.

The owners, Dave and Christine, are hands-down the friendliest, most hospitable, and most interesting lodge / hotel keepers you will ever meet.  They are there most days from breakfast to s'mores time, and they truly add to the greatness of the Fireside Lodge experience.

I took my girlfriend here over Memorial Day Weekend 2012 for a vacation and to propose!  I reached out to the owners before the trip, and they corresponded with me several times with ideas around where to pop the question.  We ended up having a nice dinner at the Chart House (which was also excellent - great food and view) and watching the sunset at the beach, and when I got down on one knee, she just couldn't say no.  It made for an incredible and unforgettable engagement weekend, and we will be returning for our anniversary, if not sooner!

My hunny and I needed a getaway for a little bit so we bought a living social to a b&b in Sacramento and then decided to head up to Tahoe after that. When my hunny and I stayed in Sac, we thought, nothing can top this place but was I wrong. Fireside Lodge is literally home away from home. The owners Christine and Dave were absolutely amazing, the hospitality was out of this world. Did I mention the amenities and perks you get when you stay at this lodge? Happy Hour, All you can drink hot chocolate, Marshmallow Roasting and Kona who comes to visit you in the morning. The lodge is beautifully decorated with little details that no hotel could ever have. This place is definitely someplace you want to stay while you visit Tahoe. We definitely can't wait to be back. Thank you Christine and Dave, you made our stay one to remember.

Had an amazing time here! We have a bichon frise who we always try to bring with us when we travel. If you are traveling with a dog to Lake Tahoe, this place is a must! It's beyond dog friendly... they cater to them.

Beyond the dog amenities, it's just a nice cozy lodge style B&B.  Lots of free snacks and drinks all over, and a very warm and friendly staff. The free bikes are great, because there is a nature trail right behind the lodge.

All the rooms are uniquely decorated and have a real "at home" quality to them. If you spend the day enjoying all the activities of Tahoe, coming back to this place in the evenings felt like a comfortable retreat.

Great value, great location, and terrfic hospitality!  A group of us (14 women) competed in the Lake Tahoe Relay this past weekend, and most of us stayed at the Fireside Lodge.  We stayed here last year for the race and had such a good time, we came back this year.

The rates are very reasonable, the rooms nicely furnished (but not luxurious) and equipped with a fridge, mini-kitchen, and great amenities.  It is also VERY family friendly (and, very important, welcomes the well-trained four legged members of a family).

The owners were very accommodating, providing our race day breakfast foods the night before (since we were heading out before their daily breakfast is available) and waited around for us (until 11 pm!) to get back from a post-race celebration to see if we wanted to use the firepit for roasting marshmallows.

What can I say...this place is wonderful. Great service, wonderful people , and etc.

Me and my girlfriend came here to celebrate her birthday. The first thing I noticed was that there are a limited amount of rooms. Only 9!!! Different themes for each room. We had the "True West" (Cowboy theme). Once we arrived, a yellow Labrador, by the name of Kona will greet you. Don't be alarmed, she's a wonderful dog. Yes, you may bring your own as well. =)

Once you enter the main office, you will see lots of things on the walls, floor, everywhere. The place sets the tone for a welcoming, happy, winter wonderland. Even though it was fall, it was worth it. The two owners are married and helps provide service for you time spent. They take things very seriously and are such the "bestest" couple I have ever met.

There's a hot tub, sauna, game room, alcohol room, dining, and living room.

Hot tub and sauna: Must provide reservation. Sauna takes one hour to get ready. Good times! =)

Game room: Great for adults and children. They got bowling, hockey table, Pac Man, Galaga, and even DVD's and VHS for your room. FOR FREE! Playing the bowling game will provide tickets and YES, you will win a prize.

Beverage room: Lots and lots of alcohol. Just be sure to provide tip. Use the "honor system" After all, they are providing great service. Almost forgot....they got beer on tap. ;P

Kitchen: Expanded continental breakfast. It's way better than your ever so common danishes and bagels.

Dining room: Read, watch, chat, and relax...

5-7pm: Wine and cheese.

7-9pm: Smores by the fireplace.

Other: They provide bikes, kayaks, and much more. I'm even thinking I'm missing out on other things they provide because there's just so so much them provide. This is a truly and wonderful and unique place. ENJOY!!!

$$$ or $$$$ = WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great for couples, family, groups, or honeymoon. Even yourself. =)

What a delightful place. Unpretentious, reasonable and low key, yet offers all the niceties of a boutique hotel (both for humans and for well-behaved pooches). Wine and cheese in the early evening; s'mores by the fire pit at night; a big movie collection; a sauna; vintage arcade games; bikes and kayaks... all free and all in a quaint, cozy, country-style setting.

The rooms' decoration is full of personal touches that show how much care the owners put into their B&B. They are equipped with a mini kitchen and dining table.

The location is ideal, with easy access to the best hikes in the area, the best beaches, and far from the casino nightmare.

My girlfriend and I spent our Thanksgiving at the Fire Side Lodge and it was the best thing we could have done. You want a place to really relax, kick back, and enjoy yourself. Well look no farther this is the place to stay! The whole experience was surreal! The best part about Fire Side Lodge is the people who own/run the lodge. They were so helpful, awesome company, and really know how guests want to be treated. Thank you so much Dave and Christine can't wait to visit again!

It's a fact, I'm a spoiled four-legged rugrat because my parents brought me to the best vacation spot of my short little 4 years of life. Kona welcomed us to with open paws and her two legged parents spoiled us with treats the moment we arrive. I got myself a doggie bag of treats from Kona and so did my pug sister. (I didn't have to share)

This retreat is awesome! I got to hang out in the kitchen as my parents had their breakfast. There is grass for me to roll around in and our own personal fridge to store my dinner in. Kona's parents had happy hour every night with cheese for me to nibble on. I was even allowed near the fire pit as I rolled under the stars. There was a nice trail right behind the retreat for my daily walk.

Kona's parents, Christine and Dave, are the best hosts ever! They even arranged my mom with the best massage ever. She said it felt like she was outside without us crazy babies running around to bother her. They also spoiled me with daily belly rubs. I can't wait to come back.

We always go to north Tahoe but when i spotted this hotel I wanted to try south lake and it was a great idea.  We love this place! As relatively new dog owners we were looking for a dog friendly hotel.  From making the reservation to the stay it was a great experience. It's a super casual place that fully caters to dogs and kids. The vintage game room is super and the included breakfast is the best around. The details are the best part of this place, everything is thought out. There is a fire each night for Making g s'mores and everything is set out for you including all the fixings and roasting sticks.
Each room has dog bowls, a doggie blanket and kitchenette with crockpot.
We love this place!  The owners are very interesting people and very thoughtful. They put a cake in our room for our anniversary.

The only con I can think of I'd the walls are thin. The people next to us were so Un Believably loud we almost asked to move rooms.
But we will be going back.

I had been here in 2003 before Dave and Christine bought it, and loved it then.  But now?  Wow!!  Neverending goodness!

The rooms are clean and cozy, the wine & cheese in the afternoon is fun also, but that's only the beginning.

The game room is too fun with vintage 80's arcade games, an air-hockey table, and skeeball.  My son had a blast "winning" tickets on the skeeball which he used at the end of our stay to "buy" toys.

The breakfast area in the morning is great with fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, juice, a waffle-maker with a dozen toppings, cereal for the kids, toasters for bread and bagels... I have to stop now.

Are you visiting in the winter?  Great, borrow some snow shoes to use walking on freshly-fallen snow, or, if you dare, grab a round sled and fly down the man-made hill behind the Lodge.

Are you visiting in the summer?  Great, borrow a couple bikes and ride down to the beautiful beach at Camp Richardson.

I had an *amazing* time this past weekend, especially playing in the snow behind the lodge (and I hate the snow lol).

I was sad to leave, and my son cried when we were leaving, but it's okay; I'm already planning on coming up again in August.

Where do I even begin to describe how GREAT my experience was at the Fireside Lodge?

My experience started by a friendly greeting and tour by the staff, the lodge was cozy and neatly decorated, rooms/common area were clean, knowledgeable, close to all, quaint, amenities (lots of them), dog friendly. The lodge provides FREE use of bikes, kayaks, and other outdoor equipment.

The Smores, wine & cheese hours, AND breakfast are all VERY DELICIOUS. All the guests mingle allowing each visitor to get to know each other.

5 STARS all around a great place to visit!!!

We just returned from our stay at Fireside Lodge.  It's easy to tell when you stay at a place where the owners have though of every detail.  It's the little things like syrup warmers at breakfast, special towels for removing makeup, and treats in the room to welcome you at arrival to name a few, but let's go in order:

1. Overall
- Very clean, well taken care of, feels like home
- The decorations are amazing - there is so much neat stuff to look at.  It really is like visiting somebody's very loved home.
- Pet-friendly -- There's "accepting pets" (which most places fall into)  and there's "pets are welcome" -- our dog felt right at home there.  The resident dogs -- Kona and Sandy (the puppy) are awesome.  Very well behaved and social.
- Knowledgeable hosts - ask the owners for feedback and recommendations in the area.  They were very happy to recommend a dinner place for us and it was wonderful  (we made the mistake the previous night of going to one that they recommended against and really regretted it.  Lesson learned - trust their recommendation)

2. The lodge / common area
- Fireplace - a very cozy area
- Game room and games -- great collection.  I was surprised to see an air hockey table and ski-ball  :)
- Wine and cheese happy hour -- wonderful, tastefully selected wine
- Fire pit - starts at 7 pm - very cozy and beautiful to watch when it's dark out.  I sat by the fire with my hot chocolate and grand marnier after a great day of skiing and talked to some great people also staying at the lodge.  :)  Very friendly, family-like environment!
- Breakfast was delicious!  We got lucky to stay there when Christine made banana bread - it was soooo good!!!
- Snacks and fully stocked bar available throughout the day.  Bring cash to contribute to the support of this bar, which is so nice to have on site.

3. The rooms
- Again, the decorations are great
- Treats and cookies to welcome you - very thoughtful
- Very clean, neat, thoughtfully put together  (I'm generally very paranoid about germs and dirt.  I felt very comfortable here).

Thank you  Christine and Family - we had a great time and hope to return soon!

There's so much to say here, it's hard to figure out where to begin. My daughter and I had a girl's mini break and stayed three nights and four days.

So many details have gone into making this place spectacular in such a warm and authentic manner.  When you stay at Fireside Lodge, you are actually experiencing Steve and Christine's fantastic, meticulously thought out vision of the best B&B South Lake Tahoe could ever imagine.

Let me stick to facts and break it down. Once you go there, you'll get the rest!

ROOM: Bears Den
- Comfortable King bed and soft bedding.
- Clean and warm environment
- Fun decorations
- Fireplace and cozy furniture
- Delicious Welcome Chocolate Chip Cookies in our room at arrival
- Microwave, nice sized refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, complimentary chilled waters restocked daily, and adequate counter and cabinet space
- Great shower head
- toothpaste, shampoo, lotion, soaps, q-tips, cotton balls
- separate towel for make up
- Free Wi-FI

- Kona - this sweet lab will great you upon arrival and each time you come back. Apparently Kona remembers everyone and makes us all feel special. She'll also hang out in your room.
- Steve can hook you up with great restaurant recommendations and reservations.
- Christine will make sure you have everything you need for breakfast.
- They both know the area so well and can give great advice on where to go (hiking, biking, beaches, etc.)
- So accommodating! They make you feel at home but not awkward or intrusive.

- Wine, cheese and punch every evening
- Smores by the fire every night until 9 p.m.
- Great breakfast options and a fun waffle bar
- all day snacks and coffee to enjoy if needed
- Game room with air hockey, Ms. Pac Man, Galaxia, Skee Ball (complete with tickets and retro-cool prizes)
- Honor bar
- Ton of games (Backgammon, Bananagrams, Yatzee, etc....)

- Convenient and easy to find (look for the red truck in front)
- ample and convenient parking
- Across the street is Evan's Restaurant. So nice to walk to and from dinner.
- Super close to Anderson's Bike Rentals
- If using Fireside's bikes, even closer to the bike trails that lead through the beaches and historic sites!
- Tons of hiking options
- near the creek Cascade and Emerald Bay lakes, lots of water falls
- Close enough to state line if you want to venture to Heavenly Village, etc. (10 minute drive)

Needless to say, we will definitely stay there again...and again...and again!

Comfort And personality

First time at a bed and breakfast

The owners are great and very involved

Breakfast was very good with excellent waffles and lots of extras

Throughout the day the staff had great advice
Lake Tahoe doesn't have very good cell phone reception and in this day and age. I found myself researching online which was very difficult

Their recommendations were solid:
Biking to Baldwin park for a swim
Driving around to their local expertise

For a MUST
you must get dinner across the street from Evans restaurant. Yelp five star and of course read my review
Evans is one of the best restaurants I've been to in months. Literally walked across street.

Pet friendly
Nature and very close to it

Other guests were nice and from all over the globe and we chatted over breakfast and marshmallows over a fire. For those of us where you can't go camping anymore because life is to busy or the family won't do well:  this is the place.

***** Just when you think it cant get any better !*****...... WE were blessed with Charlie and Maggie.  Dave & Christine were "pour Paris".   Kona as usual was super sweet.!  Can't forget young little Sandy & Ashley lol.  And thank you again Rosie !

The Fireside Family staff really goes above and beyond for their repeat customers.
WE could not have had enjoyed ourselves this trip had it not been for their kindness and LOVE of DOGS.    With the record breaking temperatures we had to make some quick last minute alterations to our plans.  Husband, Puppies and I are ever so grateful to Charlie & Maggie.  We couldn't have had a great time  w/out their wonderful hospitality.  Thank You AGAIN, c-ya next time.

One of our favorite places to stay. The owners have thought of everything . Away from the hustle and bustle of south shore but close enough to eat at good restaurants. Clean rooms, good breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoon and two adorable dogs. Perfect getaway !

Our family of four and our small dog Mimsi spent one of the 3 best nights in a long time at the Fireside Lodge.  Breakfast was awesome and included, especially the waffle mix they use plus the fresh berry toppings.  Hot chocolate and marshmallows were always available for the kids to drink, along with some very nice snacks.  Wine, tea, crackers, salami, cheese!  And to top it of, your own made smores at night in the outdoor fireplace.  Christine and the staff were great, including Rosa and Lupe that took care of our room.  The "Bear" room was spacious, with all the amenities like books, Netflix, DirectTV.

The kids had a game room to play air hockey, board games of all types, family & kids movies to take back to the room.  They had a great time, and they are quite picky sometimes.

Besides that, the lodge is very close by to US 50 for whatever else you need in dining, clothes or the supermarket.  And you are also very close to the Lake Tahoe National Park, Camp Richardson, Emerald Bay, multiple hiking trails, etc.  Multiple places close by to go sledding too.

Great place to spend your time during any time of the year!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Fireside Lodge for such a wonderful escape.  It by-far surpassed our expectations.  We went to Lake Tahoe to celebrate my son's 7th birthday for a couple of days towards the end of August.  There was an adorable little chocolate cake with a candle waiting in the room.  We had the best time including our dog.  We can't wait to return!!!!!!

We planned a last minute trip to Tahoe. It was overwhelming with so many places to stay. So I went to yelp and noticed this place with so many great reviews!

I called and was able to book two rooms and a third on arrival. We were impressed the moment we checked in. We were given a tour and the kids were greeted with cookies in the rooms.

On this trip we were really just looking at spending quality time with family and friends. And this was the perfect spot. They had all day snacks, hot chocolate and coffee was always available. They had happy hour in the afternoon and a fire pit with s'mores at night.

Another great reason this was a perfect fit for us was the game room. Some great old games and they all only cost a quarter. Plus an entire wall of board games. Also at back a large section that kids can play in the snow and safely away from the road.

The owners were really friendly and made sure we were all having a great time.

I can honestly say that I will only stay here from now on when visiting Tahoe. This place feels like home and not just a room!

I recently stayed at Fireside lodge with my wife and must say it was very well put together in every way possible. Dave the owner was a very nice man and went the extra mile to make my wife and I feel very special. I would highly recommend staying here with your family. You get what you pay for so if your cheap you won't get this experience. Spend the money and enjoy the finer things in life. Thanks Dave I will be seeing you again.

Just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at the Fireside Lodge! This was truly a gem! Very friendly owners (but not intrusive in any way), dog friendly, spotless rooms, and an outstanding breakfast bar! My son LOVED the game room and especially redeeming his Skeeball tickets for a stuffed animal! I would highly recommend this lodge for someone looking for a quiet, laid back, dog friendly lodge. I definitely ate more than my fill of s'mores by the fire every night but hiked it off each day!

This place is amazing. I honestly did not know what to expect when we checked in. But everyone here is awesome. My sharky loved both sandy and kona. Dog friendly. Wine and cheese afternoons and smore evenings. Honestly, I first had that bates motel vibe..... But this is the first lodge I've ever stayed at. Sure it's not the cheapest place out there, but definitely this is a place I would come back to always. Very homey... I don't think I could ask for more. I would love to stay here during my next Tahoe trip.

This is a great place. Instead of writing a long review, I'll just list a few keywords to highlight our experience: Lagunitas IPA on tap, free bicycle and kayak rental, 1000 varieties of waffles, wine and cheese happy hour, smores. We were skeptical about the Fireside Lodge at first, but can now recommend it without reservation.

We love this place.

A few years ago we were trapped in Tahoe due to the highway being shut down due to snow. We frantically called around looking for a place to stay. We called FL and luckily they had just one room left and they accepted dogs. Thank God!

I was pretty wound up and irritated not being able to drive home that afternoon. Walking into the FL IMMEDIATELY FIXED MY BAD ATTITUDE. They were warm and welcoming. Kona personally greeted us. They had a great little honor bar and common lodge area with fire crackling away. Our room was very well kept and comfortable. We really didn't want to leave the next day.

As it turned out the highway closure was a blessing in disguise as we would have never discovered this awesome place. With winter upon us we will no doubt be booking a weekend for us and our pups soon.

We love this place!

The owners take great pride in the property and it shows.  Dave was very accommodating and friendly.  We brought our 4 year old son and Corgi and both had a wonderful time.  The place is pet friendly and you will be greeted by some very friendly labs when you first enter the place.

We were fortunate as it snowed the 3 days we were in South Lake Tahoe so the place had a very warm and comfortable ambiance to it.

We made smores and hot chocolate over the open fire and had a great time playing the arcade games in the main lodge.  The locations is perfect if you have dogs as a walking path is adjacent to the property and we were able to see some wildlife (coyotes) when we were walking.

We stayed in the Bears Den and the room was very comfortable and true to the theme.

I would highly recommend this place as it is dog friendly, great location and very friendly owners.

We plan on coming back during the summer!

OH my lord! I am in love with this place from the bottom of their outdoor self-made fire pit to the honor system alcohol bar!  I couldn't thank the owners enough for being so humble and friendly during me and my boyfriend's 2 night stay. Arrived with a full tour of the place & descriptions of the amenities (free WiFi, honor system bar, lagunitas on tap, game room, sauna in hibernation room, complimentary s'mores, bikes, and kayak rentals).   They have two cute pet golden retrievers, which they let roam around the property and they get to visit you. In your room (just need to hang the sign that they're in your room). I forgot to make a review about this wonderful place a couple months ago but definitely worth the time & effort to write about them. God bless these people & their business

We used to LOVE this place. It is a small mom and pop place, that is being forced to change. While I understand the predicament, the forced changes are taking away the things we came for. They are very friendly and nice. Pet friendly, bikes and kayaks available. Awesome friendly ownership.

This is the second time my wife and I visit the Fireside Lodge. We usually come to the area for the mountains and skiing, but we've come to love the Lodge and we look forward to the family/friends experience. Whether playing a classic arcade or enjoying the complimentary happy hour of wine and cheese or even just sitting outside by the fire pit making s'mores with the wonderful hosts, Dave and Christine it's become part of what we love about Tahoe. Overall I highly recommend the lodge if you're in the area.

This place is amazing -- I can't say enough great things about it!

The owners and staff were so nice and the main office area was incredibly welcoming and cozy (and beautifully decorated for Christmas).  I love the gathering room and the game room -- skee ball (and more!).

They offer a wide range of options for breakfast, wine and cheese in the late afternoon/early evening, smores from 7pm to 9pm around the outside fire pit, and snacks/beverages throughout the day.

The motel is pet friendly, and the owners have two beautiful, friendly dogs that hang out in the office and with guests.

The room was very comfortable, clean and had everything I could need.  The gas fireplace provided the heat.  The "kitchen area" had a coffee maker, toaster, ice bucket, microwave, an under-counter fridge and dishes.  The shower had good water pressure, which is something I often find lacking in motels/hotels.

I really wish I could have stayed here longer, but I was only in Tahoe for one night.  I can't wait for the next time I get to stay here.

Growing up I dreamed of snowy winters and cabins in the woods, and now that I live at the bottom of the High Sierras, I sometimes get them! And when they come through in force, there's no place I'd rather be than snuggled up by the fire with my Ashley in one of the incredible little cabins at the Fireside Lodge in Tahoe. It's thanks to her that we discovered this spot after all!

During one of our best winters in the time I've been in Reno Ashley surprised me with a impromptu getaway at the lake. I had no idea what was planned so I just went along for the ride. When we pulled into the Fireside I was amazed. From the moment you walk in, it's like you're staying with family, a definite plus and a minus since this family tends to overemphasize the common sense rules of the house a bit. The husband and wife team that run this place are really nice people, and they've thought of absolutely every creature comfort you could want during a stay in your personal cabin. From wine and cheese hour, to movies and books, even board games and an arcade are available to guests. In addition they've also though of everything that anyone staying in Tahoe could want or need during the day, starting with an awesome breakfast with hardboiled eggs, make your own waffles with all the toppings,  and things like snowshoes, sleds, snacks, water, and even s'mores by the super warm fire pit to finish up your evening after a long day on the hill or playing in the snow.

While the amenities are nice, the cabins are stellar! They are all expertly decorated with that cool, casual, and quirky cabin by the lake vibe, and each one is themed and different! We stayed in a small fishing themed cabin the first time which had a very nice little breakfast nook, and on a recent visit we stayed in the Moose themed one that's big enough for two adult couples with a nice size kitchenette and fireplace so you can stay in and watch the snowfall.

The best part of the Fireside has to be that the whole family is welcome! That's right, even our favorite four legged companions are welcome at the Fireside, and they can play with the property's mascot, Kona, and her new puppy friend! The Fireside really has something for everyone, so whether you're coming in from out of town or just looking for place to staycation, check this place out next time!

This was our first time at the Fireside Lodge. I wasn't sure what to expect as the hubby and I usually stay at big name hotels when we travel. But I was looking for something different and this place got such great reviews we decided to try it out and we are so happy we did! Dave and Christine are wonderful hosts! They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Kona and Sandy (the lodge puppies) were so friendly and added to the homey feeling of the lodge.

When we first arrived we were met by Dennis. He got us all checked in and showed us around the various public rooms, then he showed us to our room the Moose Suite. It was so cute and cozy! The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and there were LOTS of pillows! I love how each room has a theme and is decorated accordingly.

They have an excellent complimentary continental breakfast complete with do-it-yourself waffles, oatmeal, a nice variety of breads and bagels to toast up, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, juice, etc. We were able to sit by the outdoor fire in the evening and they even provide everything to make s'mores! How fun is that?!

We were very pleased with our stay here and the next time we travel to South Lake Tahoe we will definitely return to the Fireside Lodge!

GREAT hosts/Customer Service!! SUPER Dog Friendly!!! Our two dogs were allowed to go ANYWHERE we did, which is very rare with most establishments. If you love spending time with your dogs, stay here when you go to Tahoe!!

Evans (fine dining) is in walking distance. And a short drive to all major casino's.

Rooms were Adorable & bed was comfy!!

LOVED the arcade, soooo much fun for all ages!! Kids would absolutely LOVE it here!!! Snacks and drinks throughout the day. Wine & cheese between 5pm-7pm was wonderful!! Smores at night... they think of everything!!

The owners Dave & Christine take pride in their establishment & it shows! They were VERY gracious and it was very much appreciate by my husband Phil and I.

We can't wait to come back with our dogs when we visit South Shore Lake Tahoe!

I decided to take a quick vacation to South Lake Tahoe because of the reviews for this place.  So glad I did.  I had a wonderful time with sightseeing, skiing at Sierra at Tahoe, seeing a show at Harveys, etc.

Dave and Christine, the owners are very inviting and knowledgeable about their community.  Kona and Sandy (the labs) were also amazing.  In fact Kona would go on walks with me and my dog down the street.  Kona also spent some time in our room.

Hoping to go back next ski season.

I have uploaded about 16 pictures of the lodge fully decorated for the X-mas season.
