We stayed here for four nights recently in a two bedroom and three bathroom room. The rate we were given was under $210 rate per night and it gaveation us freedom from the kids. The rooms were very clean, decorated like you would want going to the snow and on a skiing/snowboard vacation. Each room was on each side of the living and kitchen area, and the master room had it's own fireplace for a little romance, while boasting a rich, tiled shower and jetted bathtub. The service was excellent from the staff! They were fast when beckoned and we very friendly. One night we valet and my wife left her wallet in the car. After she called the valet station and asked them to check it, they quickly showed up at a nearby store where we were to give it to her. Talk about service.... The hotel is located in the center of Heavenly Ski Resort and next to a shopping center and just a block from the Casinos on the Nevada side. The hotel is a vacation club, however it is also part of the Marriotts Timber Lodge also, thus have some wonderful activities for all ages. My wife took part in some of the workouts and then we all took part in a all you can eat smore making activity one night by the fire pits. Maid service was done everyday and not too early like some places. They provided free internet service and have flat screen HDTV in every room with DVD players. next door at the Raley grocery store is a red box, get a DVD for rent for only a $1. If you go, go to a place called Teps Villa Roma for dinner, great Italian food. Fire and Ice is expensive and not worth it. I've been to Mongolian Grill and its way better. Take your money to one of the buffets at Harrahs or Harveys instead. The hotel does not offer room service but the kitchens are awesome and have room to cook a Thanksgiving dinner if need be. Go here and relax, I know you will enjoy it!

Stayed at the Marriott Grand Residences in Feb 2013. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was very nice. Downside was that we were in room 3400 and facing the common square which was very noisy with loud music and yelling until 12am. Due to some weird hotel design, after checking in we needed to take an elevator to the 4th floor and then walk a very long hallway and take another elevator down to the 3rd floor. We stayed next door at Marriott Timber Lodge a few weeks ago and the room was similar but much quieter.

Not impressed.  Room very small (King, Fireplace..)  One chair and no where to put your luggage.  Good thing we only had a gym bag.  Startled awake by pool cleaners talking very loud at 5:30am and that went on for awhile.  Thermostat set at 65 so slept with balcony door open (why no screen?!?!!?) Bitten by mosquitos.  Very high price for what you get.

Every Thanksgiving we stay at the Grand Residents and every year they go above and beyond. This year we didn't have an electric mixer and all the sister properties were rented out, so instead they gave me a bottle of whip cream from their restaurant. So nice!! Also the rooms are very clean and spacious.

Terribly disappointing. We checked in and confirmed we had our king sized bed as reserved. But only to find out we had a queen. When we called to change rooms I spent 5 minutes arguing with a woman who tried to convince we it was a king. It took a tape measure to convince them. Then we had requested additional pillow as there were only two in the room only to be told sorry, they had no more. I expect more from a Marriott.

These are time shares, but some rooms can be reserved online by anyone. (we are "anyone")

Check in was a breeze, clerk forgot to tell us the elevators are activated by your room key...doh

our room overlooked the driveway. (faaabulous) but since its an ownership property we assumed we weren't goin to be getting the penthouse suite (so to speak) Next time we might check out VRBO[dot]com to see if there are any owners renting their suites with better views of..well, anything other than the driveway

extremely well appointed & comfortable. It was VERY close to everything (walking to shops, Heavenly Village is around the corner, supermarket -Raley's-(grabbed some eggs and sweet rolls for a pre-breakfast since most places have a wait in the mornings), about a 8 minute walk to the Nevada line/casinos

nice sized kitchen, 2 flat screens, lovely "mountain-y" decorating, and clean.

this would be perfect for a couple or family with small children (fold down bed in living room).  It would be a little crowded with 4 adults (They do have other rooms with 2 bedrooms I think)

Only gripe was that the sheets were a little crepe papery--not very soft..but definitely not that bad.

We'll definitely return to this property!

Great place to stay!! The Location is wonderful for kids and the older people in our group. We got a two bedroom suite. There was one king bed in one room and two queens in the other room. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. The living room and kitchen were huge, the living room had a pull out bed and two comfy daybeds. The pool area was great. The pool water was heated and we wish it stayed open longer. We will be back for sure, hopefully for longer than two days. The only down fall was that all of the activities are only open on the weekends.

As an owner of a cabin near Homewood, it's not often that I find myself renting in Tahoe but for this weekend we had let some friends borrow the cabin and we were only coming to South Lake for the night to catch the Steve Miller Band at Harveys. The four of us rented a one bedroom at the Grand Residences and were surprised at how well the place both fit the feel of Tahoe, and fit 4 people. There was a queen in the bedroom, and in the main room - seperated by doors - there was a queen size sofa bed. Perfect for the one night trip. Had we stayed longer I would suggest adults pick a 2 bedroom as the sofa bed wasn't very comfortable, but it would work fine for kids.

Our girlfriends getaway...3 nights, 8 women in a 3 bedroom, 4 full bathroom bi-level condo. Full kitchen, living room and loft area. 4 flat screen tv's and 2 fireplaces.It was great. Lots of room to roam and when someone wanted quiet... The balcony off the bedroom or any of the bedrooms were perfect. So far staff has been friendly, accommodating and right there if there was any problem no matter how small.  Would stay here again...

We stayed here with 4 adults (me, my husband, his 2 20 year old boys) in a one bedroom which was very spacious and comfortable.   The main room has a full kitchen with full size stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, slow cooker and plenty of pots, pans and dishes. It has a bar with 4 stools as well as a table with 6 chairs. One of the boys slept on the Murphy bed while the other slept on he pullout couch.  We had a king bed in the huge bedroom.  Our unit had 2 full baths with a jacuzzi tub in the bath attached to the bedroom.  

It is right at the base of Heavenly which the boys loved cause they could ski a while, come back for a bite to eat and head back out if they wanted. There is a grocery store and a bunch of shops a block away which were very convenient. We stayed in an owner rental we booked through a management company.

Definitely would stay here again.  Huge unit and we were never tripping over all the skis and snowboards. Valet parking is a little steep ($26 a night) so we parked at Harvey's for free and walked up the block.  We were hoping for a late checkout which they led us to believe would be possible but we when we called the morning we were leaving we only were able to extend till noon.

Stayed here on our trip to Lake Tahoe with two kids.  Check-in was a breeze, with hardly any wait, and very friendly staff.  They lacked some very basic service elements, like taking luggage up, and room service.  We had to lug 7 bags and one snowboard bag up ourselves, with two children in tow.  Not fun.

The room itself was amazing.  We got a two bedroom suite, which was luxurious and quiet.  Glad we got the street side, not the courtyard side.  I imagine the courtyard side can get quite noisy with the bars and lifts close by.  Plenty of room for all our stuff and the kids too.  Full kitchen including stove and dishwasher, jetted tub, pull out couch.  No washer or dryer, so be prepared to dry your snowy stuff in some other way.

There are signs all over the place saying "no skis or snowboards in lobby".  Uh, excuse me, but how do you expect us to get them into our room?

Lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, which is good, because like I said, there's no room service.  Walking distance to the Heavenly lift, a supermarket, and Starbucks.  

Altogether a wonderful experience, will definitely stay here again should we visit again.

A very nice place to stay if you're in South Lake Tahoe. Lots of restaurants, shops, casinos, and other businesses were within walking distance. The room and the Jacuzzi hot tub were very luxurious.

I would've given this place a five star rating if it had a nice hotel lay out design. Like the previous reviewer said, we had to go out of the main building to the other building and took the elevator to the 4th floor and then came down to the 3rd floor. Not only that, we had to walk long hallways.

I also left my favorite pair of designer boots here and I couldn't remember our room number because I didn't realize that I left them at this hotel until weeks later. The lady who took the call was very helpful and patient. She took her time and called me several times to make sure that I got the right boots including options for shipping them back to me. The customer service was very outstanding from check-in to valet parking to lost and found!

I'm actually a little relieved to read some of the complaints here, because I felt the same way and have been trying for a month to let my head clear so I can write an honest, fair review. I stayed here for two nights for my wedding weekend.

Pros:

-The room is unrivaled compared to the other Marriott's I've stayed in. It is a beautiful, clean spacious room! It's also in a great location, right by the gondola. It was perfect for me and my three bridesmaids to get ready, and fitting for my husband and I to stay for our wedding night. I was put in the room nearest to the elevator, and it wasn't noticeable at all. Very quiet.

Cons:

As someone who is pretty shy and non-confrontational, I felt that I was treated poorly from the moment I checked in.

-At check in, I arrived shortly before a family, the front staff greeted the other family. No problem. Happens all of the time! An older couple then arrived, after she was done with the family before me, she looked up and greeted the couple when they replied, "she was before us". (This didn't bother me until I added it with the rest of my experiences with the front desk.).

-Check in wasn't very friendly. She was curt, asked the required questions about check in, gave me a map with my room circled and said, "the elevator is right behind you". That was that. Everyone has the right to have a bad day once in a while. I originally shrugged it off.

-The straw that broke the camels back was the morning of the wedding. I wasn't sure if my reservation included parking, so I decided to check with the front desk to see if my reservation came with a complementary parking spot (I hadn't used a spot, and my bridesmaid was to drive us girls to the wedding venue).If it didn't come with parking, no problem! She would just pay for parking around the corner. Simple enough right?  WRONG! I went to the front desk and inquired about parking. She asked for my room number, and a moment later told me that no, it didn't come with parking I had a $50 dollar deposit fee. Confused, I told her that it was okay, my friend would only be there for a couple of hours and would just find parking around the corner. "No," she replied, "you have a $50 dollar damage deposit for the room". I told her that I paid in full months ago and I checked my balance shortly before arriving. She told me that they need to hold an additional $50 in case I damage the room in any way, and that since I booked through the our venue through the Heavenly specialist, they didn't have a card on file to charge it to. I was holding a giant wedding dress with both hands and my friend had to maneuver her things so I can pile my dress on her and pull out the only small card I had in my shorts pocket. "This one didn't go through" she said, and puts the card down and stares. My friend gives me the dress back, puts her bags of snacks and clothes down to reach into her purse and pulls out a card to put on file for me.

It wasn't the policy I took issue with, it was the manner in which it was done. This was something that could have been addressed and handled at check in..not the following day when I thought I was all set.  I'd went to the front desk to talk about parking, and she jumped to discussing a damage deposit before the conversation was over. I also wanted ask if there was some sort of daily parking available that I could pay for, but there was no chance I was going to continue a conversation with her after that debacle. It was perfectly clear that both of our hands were full, and we in the process of going from one place to another. She didn't even suggest that we come back when I was settled. Just waited as if I was going to stiff them otherwise. That was the only stressful part about my wedding day. I did whatever I could to avoid the front desk until check out.

Maybe the staff is a little more partial to their timeshare residents, or they are used to having a different clientele? Either way, I believe that even the most rational person would stop giving the benefit of the doubt at some point.

Marriott vacation club owners, beware! Even though you are owners means nothing to this place, you will be charged 26.95 per day for parking, they will hold $50.00 a day for your for "incidentals". We called Marriott customer service and they talk to the front desk. He said he would stay here either. Also we were told we have to leave Tuesday and Wednesday for remodeling.

Just a beautiful place to stay and enjoy Lake Tahoe.  The employees were wonderful to work with.  From the valet, concierge, front desk, and housekeeping.  Everyone was polite, answered questions and tended to the needs of their guests.

Tricky to find the entrance, but I was happy once I did!  The service was super, starting with the valet guy, who greeted me like I was Mick Jagger.  He even knew I was a Platinum Elite Marriott Rewards member.  I thought that was impressive.

I had a small-ish room, but it had a full kitchen.  It was quite comfortable, good bed, nice towels, good shower.

The resort is part of a big commercial complex called Heavenly Village.  There's another Marriott resort and lots and lots of chain businesses.  

My one criticism of the place the VERY stingy concierge hours.  This was a huge resort which was sold out, on a weekend... and the concierge seemed to have luxurious bankers hours.  By 6 pm on Friday the concierge desk was already deserted.  Really?  6 pm on a weekend?  That's just a bit ridiculous.  People are going out for dinner or to clubs, and could use your expert help, Absent Concierge!

With all the dough they are making in that place, they need to pony up some extra $$ for longer and more helpful concierge hours.

Excellent stay all around.

The staff was nothing but professional and courteous.  We stayed in the 3 bedroom suite which was nice.  Despite all the remotes not working, the room was in good order and very large.

During the winter when everybody is skiing on the wonderful powder, this is the place to stay.  You can't get more ski-in and ski-out than this place.  Two Marriotts surround the gondola, this being one of them.

Now if Heavenly could just get some snow.

Best things about staying here:
BIG NUMBER ONE: FREE HOT COOKIE in the Lobby every hour! & I found FREE hot chocolate in the kid's play room, hey I'm a big kid!
2. The most comfortable pull out couch bed I've ever slept on, I didn't mind being stuck on the couch.
3. Zumba Class- Well cool they have this but they need a new instructor, sorry she was horrible, didn't know the steps she was teaching. Oh and it was only 30minutes not enough to break a sweat.
4. Heated pool for the winter and jacuzzi
5. Walking distance from the Casinos! only 2 blocks if you go from the pool exit.

MOUSE IN THE ROOM!

Although I always liked staying with the Marriott hotel group this stay and experience changed my mind.
During a 4-night stay at the Grand Residences with my family we first enjoyed our stay in one of the nicely furnished and spacious 1-bdr villas until it turned into a nightmare.

The morning before our checkout a mouse was running over the living room's sleeper sofa headrest while I was nursing my newborn. The mouse was approaching me from the back close to my neck, which made me jump out of my skin and I almost dropped my baby.

Long story short: We were locked up in the mouse-free master bedroom for one hour and had to convince maintenance to not just only set-up traps for 6 hrs but to immediately take action since all our baby gear, food, and diapers were in the living room.

Thankfully maintenance was cooperative and finally able to remove the mouse.

However, what really enraged me was the fact that the manager on call didn't show up once, gave us a call nor apologized for the incident.
Instead the front desk offered a small compensation. While we were waiting at the front desk she went to the manager's office next door to get her proposal approved... In my opinion this would have been the perfect moment to step out and apologize.

When we were back at home I addressed the incident to the corporate office since mice in hotel rooms are not a bagatelle. The response I received blew me away. They actually stated: "Generally traps are set in the area to catch the pest" and "With the location of the property, it is not hard to believe that there are pests in the woods and they could gain access to one of the buildings in the area. Just as they can gain access to a home, we would attempt to trap the animal and remove it from the grounds".

In summary, if you have nothing against the fact sharing your room and bed with mice stay at the Grand Residences in Lake Tahoe.

BTW - in retrospect I am not surprised that we had a mouse in the room. We always asked housekeeping to clean the villa after 12pm and this happened only once during our stay. All other days were a no show, so if cleanliness is handled like this on a day-to-day basis mice should be common guests.

The beds are way too small and when asking for extra pillows, was told housekeeping left for the day.  Not a happy camper!!! The building itself is very nice and well kept. The common areas are beautiful with lots of fireplaces. Everything is clean but I found a spider in my room today. Of course that could happen anywhere. Just not happy with the pillow situation. There are tons of empty rooms and pillows could've been brought from those rooms.

We are staying in 3 bedroom suite!  Wholly s***, our room is awesome!! Two story, 3 bed 3 1/2 bath, kitchen, dinning room, living room, private deck with jacuzzi. Since we were the only couple we took the top floor suite. What a privacy, ha!
We definitely will come back here again next time. Maybe during ski season.

If you are a person of color, avoid this place. Security follows you around and asks for name and room number. Manager says its cause they have "homeless problem"

Room was not ready till 6pm, valet lost the car key, and staff are beyond rude.

Worst experience ever.

Update:  @marriott on twitter was responsive and suggested I email customer.care@vacationcl… .  I should have read the other reviews on Yelp before we booked.

A couple friends and I stayed at the Grand Residence and WOW this place was amazing.  It had great service you would expect from a high end hotel. When we arrived, the luggage and valet services were top notch.  We were able to check our snowboards into the Heavenly Sports Shop for free since we were staying at the Grand Residences.  I loved that we did not need to drag our snowboards to the room everyday and it was conveniently stored right next to the Heavenly Gondola.

The decorations all around the hotel gave it a homey-cabin feeling.  The rooms were nice and had a kitchen for making food.  Full kitchen with cookware, plates and silverware.  The bed and the sofa were really comfy and it felt like I was at home.  We got a studio for 3 people and it was spacious enough for us

The best part of the hotel was that it was connected to the Heavenly Gondola area with many food choices and even a Starbucks for the coffee lovers.

I would recommend this place to any of my friend that's looking for a place to stay in Heavenly area.

Best play to stay after skiing! Been coming here for 5 years and its always 6 stars! We got 2BR and 3 baths for 2 families and 5 kids. Plenty of room! Front desk is fantastic! Never been disappointed! Would come back again this summer!

You can't beat this location for a Tahoe vacation with everything you need is underneath this building.  Service from everyone (Vicky) was great.  Nicer than the sister Marriott place next door.  Great weight room.

We just finished a summer Tahoe getaway and we stayed at the Grand Residences for the 1st time.  I've been to Tahoe dozens of times since I was a kid.  Staying at the Marriott however gave us a totally new and unique experience.  The accommodations were extremely comfortable for our family.  We really liked the convenience of the full kitchen.  My wife and little boy particularly enjoyed the room's jacuzzi tub :)

The outdoor pool was fantastic and had plenty of seating.  There's a 24hr gym and steam rooms.  Valet is an extra $26/nite but they were always prompt with our car.  I think our favorite aspect of staying here was the fact that the hotel is essentially part of Heavenly Village.  With a movie theater, shopping and various dining options, this is awesome if you're not in the mood to drive.  We also really enjoyed being able to walk down from our room and ride the Heavenly Gondola up to the top of the mountain.  When the snow season hits, this feature alone gives us enough reason to stay here again.

Overall, really fantastic stay here for our family.

The place and room was awesome to stay at Marriott hotel. I loved everything about it. I was with two of my friends. They loved the room as well.. we got one room with two beds. We did have one room, the second bed was in the living room with own tv. They had a small kitchen, small dining room, small bathroom. It was like we were living in a small apartment. How awesome was that. They also had a pool, and two hot tubs. Everything was perfect...

However, one thing I didn't like was the front service early in the morning. When we booked the room, we called and asked if we could check in early if we get there early. We told them that we may be there by 7am.  The guy at the front told me since it is only 80% full, we should be able to check in, if the room isn't clean they'd send a maid to quickly send them to clean it out for us.  We were thrilled and was on our way from all the way from San Jose to Lake Tahoe.  We get there, the guy told me oh ya I didn't get a chance to check if there was room available. But the check out time is at 11am. Come back around then and we'll have someone clean the room for you. Or you could also call us to ask if someone checked out or not. I said okay thank you, I'll come back around 1115, so it'll give you guys little bit of time.

11am, we come back. The lady at the front was rude to me and she threatens my friend who works at a different Marriott. Even though I was just asking her a simple question and being nice to her. Long story short, my friends and I paid extra $50 for a motel so we can sleep, and checked in to Marriott at 5pm....

After that it was fine.... Even on the check out day I just went to a different clerk to help me...

honestly I felt like everyone was being raicist or something.... Because they sure don't like Indians I guess....

Lobby is very nice. Rooms are spacious. At first we were shipped clear across the hotel to the outer limits and it was painful - literally for me to walk so far from the lobby. Nothing else was available even though I booked over 6 months in advance!

Construction in the adjoining room was extremely disturbing (especially first thing in the morning!). After a couple of days, they offered to change our room - too little too late. The manager on duty offered us a small discount of which I've never been so underwhelmed with an "accommodation" for such a huge disappointment and inconvenience.

It was my wife's special birthday (hence not making such a big stir in the lack of how we were handled during our stay) and I ordered though the hotel and paid a lot of money for a bouquet of flowers in a vase that I personally deemed as ugly and that died in 3 days!

Have no desire to return, I would encourage you to make sure you see what room you have before you waste your time and ask if there are any adjoining rooms are undergoing any renovations or reconstruction!

Stayed here for the weekend. The Lobby Is nice.Great Rooms. I booked a room for 5 people. It has 1 bedroom and another portable bed in the living room.It has its own little kitchen with pretty much all the basics that you need(coffee maker,microwave,full size fridge,toaster,slow cooker etc..) The bedroom is big enough.It has a vallet parking so you just call the vallet 5 mins. before you wanna go somewhere so they can have your car ready up front.Will definitely come back here
