We called expedia with instructions to book us Harrah's at South Lake Tahoe and found that Harrah's wanted to slap a child fee for our 2 year old, a wifi charge and some other misc fees bringing the total to more than $150 for a small, below avg room with poor to no service.
The expedia rep, among other options suggested Heavenly Inn.  We booked it thinking it was a 4* hotel (it wasn't)
Our experience couldn't have been better. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The room was warm and welcoming and the location was perfect - just a block from Heavenly. All this for much lower price than Harrah's!!!
the room was clean, had a kitchen and 2 queen beds. There was parking right outside so we didn't have to walk for 10 min to get to the car (very important when you are carrying all winter gear with a child).
When we felt our child was sick, Debbie, the manager went out at 8 PM to buy a thermometer. Try that in Harrah's!
We liked the service and place so much that we decided to stay another night and the staff made every possible attempt to make us comfortable.
If I have to pick on something it will be just that owners need to install new, modern room heaters with temp control.
We think we might be headed to Tahoe at least once more this season and Heavenly Inn will be at top of our list of places to stay.
Highly Recommended if you are looking for comfortable place at a good location.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE staying here when we snowboard in South Lake. The management i's super friendly and the rooms are decorated with a theme for each room. It's walking distance to Heavenly and the beach. If you're looking for a romantic stay, I'd suggest their sister hotel "Secrets Inn." We just prefer convenience, price and simple accomadations....HEa

We stayed here for the first time and LOVED it! We've stayed other places that just can't compare. Very close to the beach and also walking distance to casinos and nightlife. The management and employee's were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and updated. They also except dogs without hassle and we enjoyed having our puppy along for the trip. We cant wait to come back! This is a great place to stay and we highly recommend it!!

We booked a room with a queen bed and a futon on a casual weekend. The placed was not too crowded, nor empty. We were able to check in at about 1:00p and got a room on the second floor. It was very spacious and pretty bright in the afternoon with a large window facing the parking lot and the street. The bed frame was a little creaky, and I wouldn't want to sleep on the lower  floor with a creaky bed on the floor above me.

Overall, the room was clean, nothing out of the ordinary. One lamp did not work, but that didn't bother us. The TV and the fan worked, and we didn't use the heater. The mini-fridge and microwave was a huge plus. And we were glad that there were extra pillows in the closet.

There was a coffee machine in the room which we did not use - breakfast was available until 10:00a the next day (coffee, donuts, bagels, juice, fruit - no cereal though).

The location was great, not too far from Heavenly and the Gondola ride.

We booked our room here and didn't know what to expect, but was really pleased with the outcome after our stay. I called a couple days before our check in date and Debbie (manager) was really nice and helpful. The day we checked in we arrived really late (an hour before the office closed) and we still received excellent service by the person running the front desk.  Our room had 2 queen beds, partial kitchen and full bathroom. You could tell it was just renovated, really nice looking. Only recommendations my bf and I have are: install some form of centralize heating with thermostat and to have a sink in the bathroom also. We had to use the kitchen sink to brush our teeth and wash our hands after using the bathroom. All in all we would definitely stay here again, just because our overall experience was that good.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room and how well supplied the kitchen was with dishes, utensils, and cookware.  We were plenty warm and comfortable.  The daily room service was great as were the cookies in the lobby.  Friendly staff and helpful when we had questions about the area.  The location is convenient to stores and restaurants as well as Heavenly Mountain.  You could walk to the beach but we decided to drive the 3-4 blocks and park in the public parking lot for the beach.  The Heavenly Inn is definitely a great place for skiers to crash or travelers to South Lake Tahoe to stay and enjoy the area.  Our only surprise was that all the descriptions on the Inn's website made it seem a lot more "resort" like than it actually was.  There are many other inns and motels across and down the street from the Inn.  The personalized welcome letter on the bed that helped us get acclimated to the Heavenly Inn was appreciated.

You can walk to Heavenly Gondola from the inn! The rooms are excellent albeit just a teeny touch small and the kitchenettes are perfectly fine. There is a big fridge, sink, toaster, coffee maker, and microwave but no stove or hot plate. With the grocery store a 5 min walk up the hill our stay for 1 week was perfectly comfortable and adequately supplied with breakfast and snacks. The people are super nice and they have warm freshly baked cookies! I recommend Heavenly inn and will gladly stay again next time I visit South Lake.

This inn is beautiful, quiet and convenient.  My fiancee and I decided to elope on 12/12/12 and wanted to bring our dogs.  Traveling with dogs sometimes requires a sacrifice in amenities but the room was beautiful.  The day after our wedding my husband and I decided to watch a movie in the jacuzzi tub.  How nice is that?  The room had a comfy king-sized bed, a microwave, a dorm sized fridge and a DVD player.  The inn is located just blocks off the main road; it was easy go for coffee in the morning and there was a grassy park area behind the inn where we walked our dogs.  The customer service was great as well.  All the staff was friendly and professional.  They wished us congratulations on our nuptials in a hand written thank you card that we received just shortly after returning home.

I stayed here for a full week while attending a conference in nearby Stateline, NV (two whole blocks away!) and I loved it! I was in room 201, in the upper left corner of the property. My room was clean, cozy and quiet. It was a little chilly because the heating/cooling unit in the room is an old school wall mounted one (though it is a modernized digital version). It was a little loud when it came on so it was distracting at times. The staff was super friendly, and engaging. They gave me some great tips on things to do while there and great placed to eat. I will definitely return with my hubby for a nice getaway.

We had such a wonderful stay at Heavenly Inn. Our original reservations were next door at Secrets Inn (I'm assuming owned by the same people since we had to check in at Heavenly Inn). We showed up early and since our original room wasn't ready yet, we were upgraded to an alternate room by the manager.

Management was so friendly and accomodating and we felt so welcomed. Our room was larger than the rooms at Secrets Inn which was great. The fireplace which is controlled by the thermostat was perfect and the room warmed up very quickly. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a rotating arm which was helpful when laying in bed.

The only downfall that we had was the cleaning services weren't always available. The next morning after our first night stay, we had no card to tell the cleaning services to clean our room and luckily we passed by someone who could help us beefore we left for the day. The next day we put the card on our door to have our room cleaned and no one ever came.

We loved the location and the staff and we will definitely be back and recommend to others!

THANKS HEAVENLY INN! :)

We booked a last minute weekend vacation and lucked out. We ended up staying at the heavenly inn side and it was pretty impressive. Our room had a big fridge, a convection microwave oven and it even came with silverware and dishes. It was kind of nice to be able to go across the street to the grocery store and not worry about what we could and couldn't keep. They had cookies at the front desk that my GF
couldn't resist. The staff was helpful when it came to suggestions of activities to do and in the room they had a nice booklet/pamphlet that included more fun things. It's just a matter of time before we go back. Hopefully we get to stay here again.

Update: Well we went back. Its pretty obvious that they have had some form of change of management/staff. Probably won't be going again just based on price lack of knowledge of staff. Suggestions for where to eat and places to see were nil. Checking in and out also took an excessive amount of time compared to other motels and what they used to be like.

Patrons beware:

false advertisement of hotel amenities, hidden fees and unannounced room switches without formal communications (you sent a email?, which I never received but you ask for a contact number, so use it).

poor accommodation practices and unprofessional manager (Lynn)

Booked online for King Suite, traveling with dog as it advertise "pet friendly"  for holiday travels. Contacted front desk 6 weeks to confirm amenities including kitchenette and pet policy. Was informed by front desk personnel that room was reserved and everything was in order. Called 3 days prior to weekend getaway for reconfirmation, only to be told that the "price" I paid online does not include kitchenette and it would be an additional $50 p/n. Very deceitful.

Overall, the manager was simply hostile (interrupting me in mid sentence, raising her voice in retorts) and ultimately disinterested in providing any genuine gesture of resolving the matter with "sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and misunderstanding, how may we resolve this matter as we would very much like you to stay with us this holiday season."

Heavenly Inn Lake Tahoe, shame on you for the terrible 1st impression. But I do thank you, if this is how you handle business, then I choose to go elsewhere where my business is appreciated.

One of the best resorts I've been to. Everything looks new, clean like at home including kitchen supplies and utensils, spacious, jetted tub, large fenced back yard perfect for my kid to play when we need to do something. We stayed in the Emerald Bay Suite.

got their vip room which has a jacuzzi and a large patio.  they have the multi-jet showers and my son enjoyed it so much.  we can walk down to the beach or to the casinos.  the only thing is they don't have laundry and have to drive about 5 mins to a coin laundry.

I stayed in the same room as another reviewer who only gave the place two stars and I don't get that line of thought at all.

The location is great, 2 blocks from the state line, a state park, a block from the lake, the Heavenly Gondola, bars, restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, and a grocery store.

W stayed in the Spa Suite, the "Honeymoon suite" as it was great. Large room, lots of windows(which was great in the summer, fire place, 2 person Jacuzzi tube, a great kitchenette fully stocked, a bar, desk, and comfy king sized bed. We have a pretty amazing bed at home so travelling can be disappointing but this was pretty great.

Here is the thing about this place, its old, its architectural is that old 60's style motel. The walkways are outdoors. However they have completely remodeled this place, and wow did they do a good job. Everything was beautifully done. Is it the Marriott? Okay no it isn't, but you aren't paying those prices either.

When you consider price, location and amenities this is as good as it gets.

I had the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had here and experienced the most disrespectful, hostile, thoroughly inhospitable treatment from the owner himself.

On the spur of the moment after one of the most stressful weeks of my life, I booked a reservation for my wife and I at a hotel in Tahoe that would accept our 9-pound dog. The only two requirements I had were that the place be dog-friendly and that it be conducive for a relaxing time.  While this place appeared to be both from their website, it was neither--far from it!

We arrived after hours and were instructed how to retrieve our key.  After retrieving our key and beginning to settle into our room after the long and difficult drive, we received a phone call from the front desk.  The awkward conversation began with an inconsiderate and urgent demand that I immediately come down to the front office.  (Remember, the front office had been closed because it was after hours.) I explained that I was settling in after a difficult drive, and the person on the other end provocatively, said, "Well, that's just the thing, I don't want you to settle it.  You have made a big mistake and I need to talk to you about it right away."  After a long exhale and thinking to myself, "Oh, boy, this is going to be interesting", I mentally prepared myself for the worst and instructed my wife to stop unpacking.

I was told that because I had made my reservation online, I had been allowed to reserve a room that was not approved for dogs.  Since my intentions were sound and I had even left an extensive comment explaining both that I would have a dog and I would be arriving after hours, the person to whom I was speaking admitted that I had not made a mistake.  Instead, I was being penalized for the shortcomings of their internet reservation capabilities.  This "problem" had a fine resolution in that we were moved to a more expensive room free of charge that was dog-friendly--a momentary hiccup enroute to an awesome vacation, right? WRONG!

I went back to our old room where my wife was waiting and explained what had transpired.  My wife thought it strange and inconvenient, but agreed that it was a fair resolution to this inconvenient problem.  I saddled myself with our luggage and made a trip to our new room while my wife re-packed our other things.  I unloaded some of our stuff into the new room and scoped out the digs.  It was in a worse location, surrounded by the parking lot, and not on the second story, but there was a hot tub, which redeemed it.

On my way back to the old room to help move the rest of our stuff, I was intercepted by my wife who was visibly disturbed.  She explained that there was some guy accosting her about whether our dog had touched the linens or not.  "Some guy?", I said.  "Who was it?" She explained she didn't know and said she just wanted to go in to the new room and relax.  Seconds later a clearly disgruntled man squared off with me and shouted, "Did your dog go on the bed?!"  I said, "Who are you?" He replied, "I'm the owner!" I calmly replied, "No, I don't believe so." "Well good!" he said.  "...because I would have to charge you for cleaning the linens if it had."

I can recount the entire dialog, but will spare you a full retelling here.  Suffice to say, the confrontational and accusatory tone continued.  Is hospitality dead at this place?  I think so.  I am not some flippant, indignant teenager, but I was certainly treated like one by the owner.  It may be worth mentioning, I have a graduate degree and have worked in customer service before and have a wealth of life experience, but look like I might be much-less experienced and in my early twenties.  There was more said and there was never an apology.  Part of the "more said" included a threat that we would be charged if our dog was allowed on the bed in the new room.  The only bright side was that we were not charged anything extra in the end, because, in fact, we were rather ideal guests, neither creating a mess, nor making any noise.

This hostile exchange was very unsettling and we were never able to fully recover from it and relax.  I hope no one else experiences something like this when they are seeking some R&R.  It sucked!  My suggestion is that the owner go through some basic anger management training.  Anger management training is likely to make him a better human being, and a much better host.  Alas, perhaps, he is not cut-out for the hospitality sector.  You will certainly never receive another dime from me, Heavenly Inn-Lake Tahoe!

My wife and I stayed there on a groupon deal.  The staff were nice and the room was clean.  The beach is only a 5 minute walk.  The kitchenette is more than the usual, with a large refrigerator, a toaster, blender, and full size microwave.  The biggest drawback is that the room had two double beds, this leaves no place to sit (save one desk chair).  A double bed and a pull-out couch would be much more comfortable.  The other thing is this place has no pool or sitting area.  Overall I'd say it was ok but not worth their room rates.
By the way we did walk to the 968 Park Hotel (one block away) and it looked really nice (they gave us a tour of the pool/sauna area).  We're going to stay there sometime soon.

The Heavenly Inn is a great place to stay.  It's in a great location, only a few minute walk to the beach in one direction and grocery store and restaurants in the other.  The rooms are clean, they are comfortable, and have a great kitchen area.  In addition to it being a great place, the staff there are amazing.  They are incredibly friendly and always go above and beyond to help with any questions or concerns.  Anytime we plan on going to South Lake this will definitely be the place we stay.  I highly recommend it.

I stayed at the Inn this past weekend and on arrival the staff member that checked us in was very accommodating and when we checked into the room everything looked great and cozy and exactly what we wanted....until we opened the fridge. There was still FOOD (old smelly pizza, old MILK) left from the previous residents left in the fridge. DISGUSTING. It was complete shock because the room otherwise was very clean. The staff member cleaned it out for us but didn't seem phased or apologetic or horrified which I thought was VERY strange that not even an apology was offered. Also, the maid does not clean the room unless you specifically request and when you do request she comes and bangs on your door at 8am and won't return if you ask her to come back later. So the room never gets cleaned and coffee packets never get refilled.

There were also some male front desk staff that weren't especially friendly. Some attitude and rudeness from them happened more than once on our only 2 night stay. Overall wasn't very welcoming with the exception of 2 female employees who were very nice.

But otherwise our stay was ok the jacuzzi tub was great after being in the cold, skiing for hours it was nice to come back to. The fireplace heated our room nicely. Nothing particularly special about the Inn which was disappointing because most Inn's and B&B's have great hospitality and specialness to them in small towns and I just felt like this place was lacking majorly in the hospitality/warm/welcoming feeling. Disappointing overall.

Loved this place! Could not have picked a better place to stay on this trip. The staff are great! They offer free parking, free beach passes, free WiFi, free movie rental in the office, free comp and printer access in office, you can rent a iPad for you or the kids for something ex to do while in room other than the TV. Coffee, tea and cookies in office available and drinks from. Water/Soda to beer/wine..... We got a 2 queen bed room, TV, microwave, mini fridge, shower and jacuzzi, beds are supper comfortable (NO stains or signs of any sort of bugs),............very close to everything for the most part, beach is a few blocks away, walk or drive, (u do have to pay for parking 2.00 a hr coins or card... That's nothing really to do with the hotel but a heads up for lakeside beach... ( lady at beach restaurant said next month tho they ate taking the pay boxes away)  grocery and "mall" 1 block away lots of restraints close by as well.

This place could not be better.  Rooms were better than advertised online.  Walking distance to the beach with free passes so you don't pay the beach fee.  It's within walking distance of restaurants, the casinos and music venues.

The people were so friendly.  We'd gotten locked out of our room the second night we were there.  We called the late night number left on the front door of the main office and the owner came out within 5 minutes to let us in.  He asked us how our stay in Tahoe had been so far and asked if we'd enjoyed our concert that night.  Told us to have a great time and enjoy the rest of our stay.

The place was very well kept up.  The room we were in was spotless, quiet, had a nice kitchenette and was extremely clean.

I won't stay anywhere but here when I go to Tahoe again.

Fantastic experience.

We've got a very good experience.

Heavenly Inn is in a good location, the room are clean, cozy, stay warm (I was amazed by the insulation compared to the flats I lived in SF).

But what is the best at Heavenly Inn are the employees. I think I got the best reception I've ever had. Dustin was waiting for us on the evening we got there, and was working at the desk every evening. He was super friendly, willing to help for anything, making his best to advice us about where to eat and do our activities. He also stored us a lot of local stories, very interesting.

On the morning we asked advices to the owner about what trail to do, here again, very friendly, patient and give us a lot of details about what to do, how, and the possibilities.

Thank you again, we'll come back!

PS: one little thing,: the doors. I've been wake up by customers in the morning, I think doors that insulate more from the noise would be great.

Went here on the Labor Day holiday weekend. I found this place out because of Groupon-they were offering a deal. One night for $75. The room 104 was nice, although they didn't have the heat on when we got there so it was really cold in the room. Two queen beds, nice TV-WITH a DVD player (impressed because we rented a redbox for the night). They have storage, small bathroom but it works. It looks like they are upgrading the rooms and still need to do some upgrading to the bathroom but it still looked cute. the closet I wished had a bigger portion for coats, especially since it was so cold and we had our big coats with us. I LOVED the kitchen. No stove but they did have dishware, sink, full size refrigerator, and microwave, blender, and toaster. The table is small and only fits two and was a bit wobbly. The beds were almost too firm for the like of both of us but we slept well. Glad there was window treatments to block out the sun in the morning and we got to sleep in. Wish there was more light in the room especially to be able to see in the wardrobe they has as a closet, but it was still a very nice room.
As for the service, wonderful. Really wonderful. Everyone that we talked to was nice and if they asked how things were they actually waited to listen to your response. We were running late and they let us check out an hour late. My boyfriend forgot his glass mug from MacDuff's that he bought and we were trying to see about getting it back. The personnel actually dug through the trash to get to it for us because it was thrown away by the maids. It ended up costing us too much to try to get it back (living 6 hours away) and so they said that they would keep it for us until they saw us again. My boyfriend really liked it there so we will probably be back. I don't know what the regular price is but if it shows up on living social or groupon again I know I am going to try and grab it!

The staff were very friendly, helpful and kind. And that's about the best I can say. I would not recommend Heavenly Inn - or Travel Advantage Network - based on this experience.

Unlike other motels/residences in town, the exterior walkways and stairs looked like they had not been cleaned in weeks. Debris, scraps of food, and some small trash was on the walkways and the stairs. It didn't appear that any of the staff made an attempt to clean it up.

The two rooms we tried (in two days) were not good. The carpets were very dirty, so much so we were afraid to take our shoes off. The front desk person apologized - admitted they needed to be replaced.

There were bugs and dirt on the ceiling in the bathroom, and snot - yes, snot - on the bathroom door. The entire place needed a deep cleaning. They moved us to a new room, with apologies. It was only mildly better. We were stuck there for two nights since the Iron Man Triathlon had every room in town booked. But we got out as soon as we could.

The kitchenette is well furnished, it's just tiny. Two people can barely move around in it. And when the bathroom door is open? It blocks the entrance to the kitchenette.

The bathroom is small as well - shower is good but small.

Travel Advantage Network, who sang the praises of the property when they booked us, were shocked we didn't like it and only offered to clean the carpets. When we insisted that was not enough, they refunded all but the two nights and left us on our own to find lodging. Buyer beware.

If I could give no stars I would. This place has absolutely no class, decency, or manners towards their guests. Don't come here if you want a relaxing good time for the holidays. My cousin, my husband, and I had booked a room at this place run by idiotic staff. (Christmas to New Years week). We checked in at 7:30pm and hung out in the room while getting settled down. A few other friends renting at a motel nearby and came by to hang out and wait for us to get settled so we could grab dinner together. At 9pm a rude wanna-be bully bangs on our door, while screaming through the door saying "Who rented the room? Get out of here now, I've got some things to say to you." My husband and I step out the room and ask what's the problem. This guy is looking hostile and ready for a fight. We just commuted over 10 hours to get to this place and barely got a chance to put our snowboards and luggage down to unload the car. He tells us a couple nights ago a group of kids rented a room from them and had an overcapacity. Our room sleeps 4 and we had 6 people in the room. We told him that sucks to hear that. But 3 of the people sitting on the couch aren't staying here. They rented a room at another location. So there shouldn't be a problem. He said he didn't care and that we all have to leave. All 6 of us. I'm telling this story and downplaying it completely because I'm trying not to relive this situation again. The wanna-be bully keeps yelling, the other manager comes and tries to calm the situation. Her trying to calm the situation is basically not yelling at us and telling the hostile man to step out the room for a few minutes. She tells us we can stay since it's a busy week and there aren't any other available rooms anywhere else in town. And says anyone over 4 people can't sleep over. Which was fine with us since they were never sleeping over to begin with. She then said we can't have guests over past. 8pm. A curfew? For adults? Who paid for a room? On vacation for the holidays? Are you kidding me?! And guess what. Not a single apology given. Even after I saw them peeking through the windows during the nights and in the mornings checking if we had people over and them realizing they were wrong. I hope you go out of business. And that's me being nice.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding weekend. We have stayed at Heavenly/Secrets multiple times and have always been impressed with the great customer service and great rooms. This time was no different. We had the honeymoon suite on a floor to ourselves. The room was great. The kitchenette comes stocked with towels, plates, and utensils and really cute heavenly inn tumblers that I wish I had bought a pair of (don't know if they sell). The jacuzzi tub fit two people nicely. The bed was comfortable and clean. The staff was great from the moment we arrived. They had some helpful recommendations on local activities and had discount cards.  It's close to restaurants and casinos. We hardly had to drive at all. This continues to be one of our favorite places to stay.

The double queen rooms are small.  My bed was against the bathroom wall and I had to crawl to the foot of the bed to get up.  The carpet had something sticky on it and not enough room to get out of bed. There is a night stand in between the two queen beds. My son slept in the other queen bed which was right up against the window.  You could hear people partying outside our room throughout the night/early morning hours.
The carpet was old and dirty.
The staff that worked at the MOTEL we're extremely nice.  The place is a total dump though.  I wouldn't give this any stars but I wanted to share my experience.

A nice little hotel.  It's pretty conveniently located; though you will have to walk to the gondola, as there is no parking.  The walk is only about two blocks though, which is manageable, even with ski gear.

The rooms themselves are pretty basic but affordable for the area.  There is a full size fridge though, so that's a nice plus!

A few things I didn't like: shower didn't drain fully, so we were standing in ankle deep water during each shower.  Also the soundproofing is NOT good.  We could hear everything outside and our neighbors.  The parking lot was also not de-iced very well so be CAREFUL!

A cute and conveniently located little hotel.  It's only about two blocks away from the gondola at Heavenly so if you don't want to deal with parking..this place is a good place to stay at.

The room was surprisingly big.  We didn't expect a small kitchenette with a full size fridge so it was a pleasant surprise.  The rooms were clean (bathroom seemed a little dated) and there was a ton of storage space so if you have a ton of snow gear like we do..then it's awesome.

I only had three complaints with the place. 1) The shower didn't drain too well so we were standing in a few inches of water during each shower. 2) The walls were thing so I'm assuming everybody could hear everybody..... 3)The parking lot is a hazard as they do not do a very good job with de-icing or effectively salt the parking lot. I almost ate it quite a few times..
