Terrible place, dirty, broken down, and a staff that doesn't care.
On their web site it shows supper 8, and in the room is all super 8 literature etc.
They are no longer associated with Super 8.
We also made several trips to  the office to get our elec keys reset.
I stay in many "2star" places with no problems, all I want is clean sheets and not feel gross if I'm bare foot in the room.
This place has none of what you hope for in a really cheep room.
buggers on the bathroom wall...I won't go on.
Sleep in the woods if the balance of south lake tahoe is sold out.

Sliced bread and cereal were the only breakfast choices. Some pillows had no covers. Otherwise the place was clean.

Worse place in Lake Tahoe. Warning! Stay clear of this place.  On top of false advertising, the staff doesn't seem to care about their guests. We couldn't even get ourselves to stay the night. We asked for a refund and went to Mont Bleu.

It's what it is: an old run down motel. There's a bed, fridge, microwave, and shower. The pillows and bed are at least 10 years old, the linens have cigarette stains, and the shower is small. It's as clean as it could be considering above. Continental breakfast is white bread or cereal.  it's functional. Oh and please Watch your step on the stairs.

No, this is not a 5 star hotel, but for $40 a night mid week during the peak of ski season, you cannot beat this quality so yes, when all things considered 5-star rating

CLEAN (i can speak for non-smoking rooms)
    Affordable
    Friendly

the only downside is that the bar at the hotel was not the greatest, and they close their kitchen early - most places like this will at least keep the fryer on, but they don't.

That bar is not the hotel, so as far as I am concerned, this hotel beat my expectations for $40/night.

upside to the downside - there is a Pizza Hut across the street with a full bar and restaurant.  It's cleaner, bigger, and friendlier.. just use caution when crossing the road, it can be a bit icy.

Dog friendly! Totally exceeded our expectations. We decided to travel with our dog and most places won't allow large dogs and if they do they charge an arm and a leg.
Total for my husband and I for one night with our dog only $56! The room much cleaner and nicer than we could have expected for This price. I've paid more in the past at other locations and had horrid experiences.
I would most definitely return here. Staff is very helpful, they have a decent breakfast, nothing extravagant. What we saved on the hotel we can spend on getting breakfast out :).

first off the door scanner was broken so we went back and forth to the lobby in the damn cold till the 3rd time when they came to check it out.
she said the battery was broken and theyll fix it tmrw.
next day we went out to eat lunch and came back to find three people in our. room.... so @&$!ing unbelievable!!!  then a man just walks into our room to go to the other side. what kinda people do that shit when the guest are not there. what if something goes missing?!? cant believe this place. no call no warning.. just a bunch of people walking in and out of our room. im happy we came back when we did. to see them. it made me feel really unsafe.
rooms dirty... still a bunch of stuff in the room from the previous  guest!!   used cup in microwave.  used shampoo bottle. wrappers on the floor. eek!! im sure its a lot better than other inns. but i just dont like it.  :/ rude to come into our room when we aren't  there!!

Like the Days Inn nearby, it's an older and creakity property, but the price is definitely right (sometimes as low as $28 on weeknights and $38 on weekends when Tahoe is dead), and other than the No Country For Old Men construction everything is pretty decent.

Main thing I liked was that the room had a fridge and micro in addition to in-room coffee, haven't seen that in any other budget properties in Tahoe yet. Short walk to Safeway from here. Charter Business cable and very decent wifi too

Only complaints were construction-related and there's not much they can do about them. Super-creaky floors. I liked the quietness and toastiness of the old-school gas heater, and I had no problems with it 'cause I was in a corner room and it was on the outside wall ... but I had one of these things at an apartment once and it was basically a Noise Portal to the neighbor on that side. There's also surprisingly big decks, but nothing separating them from each other, which aside from being a little awkward also opens up the possibility of Tweaker Parkour to break through the flimsy lock on the sliding door or just pull the whole thing off the rail. Oh, and the bathroom is up against the outdoor walkway and has a window in it ... the window has opaque glass but I'd still like a little more privacy there.

Still though, I have to say my stay was actually pretty cool, I wouldn't book the place for a vacation but I'd do it again for a budget night or two in a pinch. The construction stuff doesn't really matter all that much when there's hardly anyone there, anyway.
