stayed here and also in Timber LOdge, this one is the newer one and the rooms were bigger. it is steps away from heavenly, harrahs, harveys, etc.

minus one star for the front desk staff Noah for not giving me the associate pleasure rate i deserve (my partner works in san jose marriott) instead he gave me the friends/family rate which is 80 bucks more. WHat would he feel if he'll be treated the same way w/ his wife/girlfriend/partner.

I approached him and asked if i could get a 2 bedroom suite instead since i booked 2 separate 1 bedroom units but was told that it cannot be combined as one suite and those room were in different floors. He told me "NO" because there none available. I said ok.. that fine.. sat on the lobby because the room is not ready at 5PM!!  out of boredom i browsed their website using my phone just to check, thanks to my Iphone found out that  IT IS AVAILABLE UNDER ASSOCIATE PLEASURE RATE. So i went back to him at the front desk and asked him AGAIN and told him that it's available according to their OWN WEBSITE. and he's like "oh! it's available now, it just showed right now.." He did consider it BUT he gave it to me under friends/family rate which is 80 bucks more! I asked him why and he just answered "because that rate is not available". OMG! i just showed him that it is available in their website and i have my iphone as a proof that it is available in the said rate. Anyway to cut the story short, he didn't consider it because it is "not avaiable"  in his "computer". i was just there in their hotel 2 weeks ago, and i didn't have any problems booking rooms under associate pleasure rate.. oh well.

another minus one for the $22 valet parking. the valet guys were helpful and nice though but i'd rather give that $22 bucks to vallet guys and not to the hotel.

We really love this place!  Stayed there this winter for no particular reason and had a great time.  It was close to so many wonderful things.  The daily room cleanup was suppose to be a light clean, but I thought that it was like a full service!  It wasn't really pricey in comparison to the awsome serivces especially the valet!  Seriously a vacation, you don't have to lift a finger!  We did however bring our children; who had a great time as well, but I feel like the Timber Lodge (next door)  would be better suited for family vacations because they offered some other children's facilities, like a game room.  My only complaint was that, inside the rooms it is peaceful and quiet but as you walk the halls, you can hear everything going on inside the other rooms!  That made me feel uncomfortable to make a peep in the privacy of my own room.

We've stayed here 3 summers now and I find it's the best value for what we want/need in a summer rental.  The condo/1 bedroom units are very nice.  All the comforts of an actual apartment/condo.  A full kitchen, dining room and living room,2 dvd players and cable tv,  two fireplaces - one in the bedroom, one in the living room, many with jacuzzi jet bathtubs that will fit 2 adults, one or two bathrooms depending on the room, a great pool, and a wonderful spa (I've had excellent massages there every year so far).  It's close to everything and right across the street there's a Ralphs market that has everything you'll ever need on vacation and more!  Love it.  The daily parking fee is too high, but you can get your car as much as you like during the day and there's just no way around it.  Be warned, the staff aren't the most pleasant.  They seem to save their courtesy for the residents or something...not sure.  They aren't big on service, pampering, or even sometimes greetings (except the valets who depend on tips), but they'll do in a pinch.  Just wish I could bring my dog and it would be nearly perfect.

We were so pleasantly surprised with this place!  We rented a 1 bedroom suite for a great price, and when we walked in, we realized it was much more "apartment" than "suite".  We had a full bedroom with private bath, TV, huge jacuzzi tub, and also a full kitchen with all the appliances, dining room table, living room with sleeper, TV, and another bathroom.  Amazing!  We will definitely stay here again.

Like other Yelpers, I'll only be staying at this hotel from now on when I'm in South Lake Tahoe.

I went there this weekend with my boyfriend and was delighted when I arrived to our HUGE suite. I paid $150/night for a room that I would have been happy to pay $300/night. Two bathrooms, a full kitchen with ice maker in the freezer, dishwasher, glasses, flatware, silverware...everything. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer to take advantage of this beautiful room. It even had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and a balcony with chairs overlooking Tahoe Blvd. Super clean and the staff was incredible. I didn't use the pool but it looked delightful. Oh, and the bed was heavenly.

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and this one is definitely in my top 5...you won't be disappointed.

Great property, great location.  This is an easy 5-star if you don't have a car.  If you do have a car, you're out of luck unless you care to pay $22 for valet parking.  We almost always drive here, so we'll be looking to stay somewhere else next time.

this place is great! nice room with a small kitchen. its right next to the heavenly gondola...talk about convenience! the valet service was fantastic. all of the guys that helped us were great. there is easy access to the heavenly village area and its within walking distance to the casinos. can't really comment on the prices per night but i'm sure it was pricey given its location.

Easy to find.  Literally on top of the Gondola.  Has kitchen with plates, full size fridge, stove, and microwave.  Decent size bathroom.  Outdoor pool and hot tub.  Across the street from a market.  Can walk to casinos.  Nice.

Fantabulous location, how else would drag my sorry ass out of bed and make it to the Gondola by 8:30 before the line reaches Nevada?! We stayed in one of the 3 bed penthouses and I must say it was quite nice. Granted, both DVD players in the upstairs bedrooms didn't work and the tv's were a bit old school but the room overall was very nice and I think with all of the pull out couches it could have slept about 14 people. A heck of a deal if you are dragging your family and friends along for the ride. EVERYTHING is within walking distance including Railey's which you can stock up on the groceries (all units have a full kitchen) and push the cart all the way over to about 20 yards from the front door before that stupid homeless wheel lock engages. There is a heated pool and decent size hot tub and if you go in and act interested in buying a time share you can even get a free lift ticket out of the deal. Movie rentals are available in the lobby for $3 and they even have a lot of the latest stuff. Beat up on the slopes? There even is a halfway decent spa on site that have 1/2 hour massages for the cheap at heart. Definitely worth the little bit extra for the comfort and convenience. A few things to take note of:
    1. If you have an SUV or a Van with a pod on top you will have to park across the street in the over sized lot. They will not charge you the parking fee for this however.
    2. They also sell lift tickets for $3 off at the front desk if you don't want to stand in line at the gondola.
    3.  When booking on line, if the dates and room size you want doesn't immediately appear available hit refresh a couple of times and keep trying the first three tries the 2bd only came up and the voila, the 3bd appeared.

We stayed here after getting married in Tahoe this past May, it was perfect. They put rose petals on the bed leading to the door and the room was really nice. The bed was extremely comfortable and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

We just returned from Lake Tahoe and the Marriott Grand Residence. We had 4 wonderful rooms. All were one bedroom suites with a king bed in the bedroom, sofa sleeper and a murphy bed. A full kitchen, jacuzzi tub and very clean. The pool was always busy, but never overcrowded. The next morning the pool was spotless. They really keep the hotel immaculate. The staff is wonderful and cheerful. The female concierge assisted us with crazy requests and she followed up her following shift. Very impressive. The Front Desk Staff was amazingly friendly. They provided 5 star service at reasonable prices. The valet was friendly until my departure. One valet must have been having a bad day but I will not let that detract from the rest of the staff. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the casinos and the lake. I highly recommend this hotel.

Went up about a month ago and spent the night here; 1 BR, 2 Ba suite.  It's very nice, quiet, top quality service, comfy bed, awesome bathrooms, impeccably clean.  About everything I'd expect for a full service Marriottt since I was a Platinum Rewards member for many years back in my traveling sales warrior days.  Not inexpensive though; $189 + taxes + valet tip for this one night with a small specialty rate discount, but you will definitely impress your SO/date/friends/business guests here.

We stayed here for a week. Definitely a nice place. I love the accommodations. 2BR/3B.Can sleep up to 10.  Living area had the 2 huge sitting areas next to the window that can be used as single sleep areas. Fold out couch. Nice kitchen, fully furnished. Wine glasses, dining ware, dishes, etal...huge crock pot which we put to use. Nice kitchen and dining area. Table fit 8 easily. Breakfast bar sits 2. One bath had a 2 person jacuzzi. Large television and dvd player in each room. The balcony overlooked the street and view of gondola. It can be noisy if the windows are left open. There are 3 entrances to the suite. And you need a different card for each door.

Nice pool area. Good for kids over 4 feet tall. Walking distance to shops and market. Kiddie golf right outside. Steps away from the gondolas. About 2 blocks from casinos. Across the street is an Albertson's/Savon.

The staff was nice and accommodating.  When we needed something they were quick and proficient in our needs.

The downside? If you are use to a firm bed...this might not be the place for you. The door cards had to be recoded almost daily. Parking was a pain the buttocks!!! We were not willing to pay $17 each time!! It wasn't even a daily rate!!  I don't care if they cleaned my windshields. And then have to tip them. Hahahhaaa. We parked at Albertson's when we stopped into the room for less than 2 hours otherwise we parked about 2 blocks away at one of the casino lots(free).  During our stay I think the fire alarm went off 4 times. It was an ear piercing blaring. We had to go out to the balcony it was so loud. Nobody on intercom to tell us what was happening. No phone calls made to the rooms. That I did not like at all, especially for an establishment where there might be first timers staying there AND for a place that is temporary residence to so many. Most hotels/motels have free use of their "Media rooms". This place charges $0.10/min. One day the maid didn't come. We called around 4pm and they came and did the rooms. Spent all of 10 mins.

4 stars for the fire alarms! and the missing maid service oh AND the parking issue.

Stayed here over summer with my family and it was GREAT! The location is really nice, as it is on the California side but still only about a blocks walking distance to the casinos. Also it is located right in the middleany shops and restaurants and directly next to the Heavenly gondolas. They have a really nice pool and the rooms are very nice as well. We had some kind of mix up with our reservation and instead of giving us two adjoining rooms, they gave us a HUGE suite with 2 rooms, kitchen, living room, and a pool table (we were definitely not complaining!). It was a very pleasant experience staying here and would gladly stay again!!

Definitely 5-star property!!!!!   Two jacuzzi's, heated pool, gym, steps to the Gondola, and two short blocks away from the casinos.  Stores, supermarket, and a movie theater within walking distance.   Valeting our ski at Heavenly Sports after a day at the slope sure is a nice luxury I got used to quickly.
We had a studio room facing the ice skaing rink.  Beautiful view of the mountain.  Full kitchen enabled us to feed ourselves properly in the morning before hitting the slopes.  The location is unarguably the best I've been for snowboarding.  Convenience is an under-statement.  I'd definitely go back there again for another winter vacation.

For value on the dollar this was an irresponsible use of my money. The staff was the single bright spot, and it is a shame they are put in the unenviable position of serving as the public face of this hotel. For $325 per night the interior walls were thin enough that we could hear the TV and conversation in the adjoining room; the in-room coffee pot had no power outlet, no creamer, and no sweetener; it cost $10.00 to make a 2 minute phone call to Ciera Steakhouse for reservations, which is in the Montbleu Casino, only 1/2 mile away but considered long distance since it crosses state lines; and an elevator was broken but not marked "out of service." With taxes, fees, and parking the bill was $450. To charge a premium you need to offer a premium service beyond the terrific location. This hotel falls far short to justify that price. The staff was very helpful in convincing our neighbors to turn down their volume at midnight, which is my single reason for marking this hotel up to two-stars.

We were fortunate enough to have good friends invite us up last weekend to stay at their timeshare in South Lake Tahoe.   The Marriott Grand Residence is great!  We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite - fully stocked kitchen (all utensils), dining and "living room" area.  The Marriott Grand is located right next to the Heavenly Gondola and near a Raley's shopping center, restaurants, casino's and boutique shops.  We were so impressed that we are looking to come back and stay next spring.

My husband and I stayed here on a recent trip to Tahoe. We absolutely loved this place! We had a 1-bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen, huge living room, dining table, two fireplaces, balcony, and the best part -- a HUGE jacuzzi tub. The tub was just perfect after a long day on the slopes. Plus, the location is amazing at the foot of the Heavenly Gondola with a grocery store nearby and casinos just a few minutes away. We will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed 1 week in a 1 bedroom condo.  It had a full living room, kitchen, dining room,  2 large plasma TVs, dvd player, and 2 fireplaces.  The walkout balcony had a view of the pool.  The beach access was 2 blocks.  Almost like home.   The workout rooms were spacious well equipped with newer machines.  The location near the casinos, Heavenly Plaza & Lift, and Raley's shopping center was super convenient.  The only complaint was the daily $22 valet parking fee!

Well I certainly was impressed by a lot here! I usually stay at budget places but wanted to spoil myself!

First off I want to say - they should not require valet to park on site. $17 is crazy talk for me. To give them credit, my valet offered his services but also suggested that if I wanted, I could park at any of the casinos for free after checking in and unloading... thank you!

Here are the 5 star things: nice and helpful desk staff, the comfiest bed and sheets ever, kitchen in rooms, all details in room are very high quality and clean, lots of towels and products, amazing pool area with bar and food service, laundry available for free, fitness center and spa services are available, location!

4 star things: The room was just a little small and faced the loud highway. The spa lady was having a negative conversation with someone in another language on her cellphone - she didn't even look up at me - so they lost a sale because I felt uncomfortable being there. I even tried going back a couple times and no one was at the desk. My key didn't work to the gym (they had to open it) and I swear they said they had a stairclimer and there weren't any of those. The first machine I tried to use was half broken. A housekeeper tried to get in my room kinda early and without knocking or anything.

BUT those things aside, the poolside and beer and wings I had there made up all the difference - plus the wireless reaches into all public areas - very nice!

My family has been coming to the Marriott's Grand Residence for several years now for Thanksgiving and the place has not changed in all those years.  And that's a good thing because the facilities and service here is nothing but top notch.

The facilities here at the Marriott's Grand Residence is well kept up.  Upon arriving they have valet service ($17/Day) and they are friendly and helpful.  Once you walk in you are greeted with that warm Lake Tahoe Cabin Feel.  Lots of wood and stone with big oversize chairs and large fire place.  The main lobby is kept well lit and there is always someone there at the front desk.  The Grand Residence also offers a selection of DVDs to rent, a state of the art gym, and an outdoor pool and spa that is kept warm year round.

This year we got 3bd/4Bth condo.  These condo's come stack with everything you need, TVs in every room with DVD players, full size kitchen with everything you could need (dishes, glasses, silverware, cutlery, etc etc), plenty of towels, linens, extra blankets & pillows, and even soaps, shampoos, etc etc.  The place is decorated in an upscale cabin look complete with marble titled bathroom.

One of the biggest advantages is that a lot of stuff is within walking distances of the Grand Residence Club.  You are within a 2 minute walking distance to the Heavenly Ski lift, several restaurants to choose from, movie theater, across the streets is a Ralph's so you can do all your shopping if you decide to cook inside, and you're about a 10 minute walk to the casinos.  If you don't mind a little bit more of a walk, to can walk to Lake Tahoe.

Overall, great hotel, great location, great service, get the  Marriott's Grand Residence Club Resort one of the few 5 Stars reviews I give out.

We moved here from the Hyatt at Incline Village as we were very disappointed there. Went and viewed the rooms at the Marriott and were so impressed we immediately moved.

The Marriott had the same nice bedding, heated pool, larger room, nicer bathroom, full service kitchen, great location, and a better price (then the Hyatt.)

They are also located amidst shops, restaurants, movie theater, mini-golf, and the Heavenly Gondola. So there is lots to do. More shopping across the street including a grocery store and casinos are just a few steps the other way. They also have a beachside grill if you are so inclined...

I DO recommend getting a room on the interior of the building, that way if you decide to open the windows there is no street noise (which was non-existent with the windows closed.)

Let me start off with the good about this place: the rooms are expansive and immaculate, the location is great, blah blah blah.

    Now on to the bad:

    1) The reception personnel are incompetent.  They had me wait and wait and wait at the counter while they tried to figure out which room to give me on a very un-busy Friday afternoon in October, not exactly the peak season for Tahoe.  My room was not ready until late in the afternoon, well after their check-in time.

    2) The lead bellman was terribly rude.  He was rude to me, rude to my family, and rude to his employees (who were pretty good overall in spite of their worthless boss).

    3) My credit card was charged FOR MY ROOM AND SOMEONE ELSE'S ROOM.  This resulted in a long dispute that is still unresolved as the accounting department at the hotel wants to be paid for the other room and WILL NOT CONTACT THE PERSON WHO STAYED IN THAT ROOM, but rather prefers to continue pestering me about it.  If two people by the name of "Smith" check in to the same hotel, does the hotel then automatically assume that one Smith will pay for both rooms?  You have to be kidding me.  Since this problem occurred, the accounting woman has been rude when I've talked to her and totally unresponsive otherwise.

So superficially this place is great, but I would recommend staying ANYWHERE ELSE in South Lake Tahoe if you can.  The headaches you'll get during and after your stay are simply not worth it.

This is the perfect location for a hotel in South Lake Tahoe.  Once you arrive, you never have to drive your car for the rest of your stay.

Everything is conveniently located within a block:
    - grocery store
    - coffee
    - the gondola
    - shopping
    - bars
    - casinos

The rooms are basic, nothing fancy, but clean.  There's enough room to store your skis and luggage without feeling too cramped.

Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's so worth paying to wake up and basically walk out to the gondola and ski within minutes.

This place is Tops! Best location, best amenities, best nightlife, restaurants and shopping.

All worth the price. Our hotel room was 2 stories, 3 bd, 4 bath. Family room, Dinning room and Kitchen. For extra sleepers there is a pull out couch and pull down wall bed.

We never had to move our car from valet the whole trip. There is a grocery store across the street the gondola to heavenly outside our front doors and the casinos a block away. Hot tubs for after snow activities and a warm pool for the crazies. All is out door.

This is the most ideal stay if you are looking for relaxation and dont want to be shoveling your driveway this winter.

Marriott Grand Residence Club won't have me looking anywhere else to stay in Lake Tahoe. First off the staff is highly attentive and very friendly. Management should be proud. They have hired/trained top employees!

Our room was plush; two rooms, king bed, two full bathrooms, cute kitchen fully equipped, thermostat in both rooms, two televisions, living room suite, plenty of sitting space, large dining table, two fire places.....incredible! The club is connected to an outdoor shopping/restaurant center and is walking distance to a grocery store plaza. Our stay has been overwhelmingly pleasant, peaceful and EASY. Ahhhh.....

Ali R's family has a timeshare here - yay!

Close to the casinos, heavenly and lots of shopping. We stayed in the Alpine building behind Fire & Ice. The room was very nice and well kept. Good size kitchen, dinner table and living space. Wish they had replaced towels more but oh well.

Yes the valet parking for $17 is a lot but you get one free car with your stay (I think). Also, the bellboys rock - they can stack MASSIVE amounts of your crap on those carts and make sure you are taken care of.

This weekend the wife and a few of her friends are snowboarding in Tahoe.  I used my connections in the industry to reserve us a suite at the the Grand Residence Club.  It's a great property.  The suite has separate bedroom with balcony, a full kitchen, and separate living space.  Kitchen includes a flattop stove and full size side-by-side refrigerator.  This being my first trip to Tahoe, I must say it absolutely beautiful here.  South Tahoe is actually right on the California/Nevada border.  The gondola to Heavenly Village is about 100 feet from our hotel.

If you're a skiing enthusiast, then you know all about Tahoe, but I must recommend the Marriott Grand Residence, if you get the opportunity.

Stayed here back in mid-October for two nights with 5 people including myself. Our room was on the top floor, a 2 bedroom, 3 bath with 2 fireplaces, a large central living room, a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, 3 flat screen TVs, vaulted ceilings, and a large outdoor deck. We were thoroughly impressed by all of the amenities that came with this room! The staff was friendly. The property is close to shopping, the Nevada border, and the Heavenly gondola. It was the off-season so the price was very reasonable but I hear it's very expensive when there's snow. Regardless, it was a very enjoyable stay for us all!

If you do not want to stay in a casino this is the perfect place!  We had the one bedroom suite, it was very clean, had a great layout and a huge jet tub!  As far as neighbors go, it was very quiet. My only complaint is that in our room you could hear the hum of the Air Conditioning (not ours, the hotels) and it would occasionally bang.
The location of the hotel is great.  There is an outdoor shopping area connected to the hotel with plenty of restaurants and things to do, such as miniature golf (if you like that sort of thing) and a gondola ride up the mountain.  You are close enough to the casinos where you can walk, but not too close...
The concierge, Connie is great!  If you need a hard to get reservation at a hard to get time, she is the person to get it for you!

    Talk about Heavenly!!

We stayed here for four nights recently in a two bedroom and three bathroom room. The rate we were given was under $210 rate per night and it gaveation us freedom from the kids. The rooms were very clean, decorated like you would want going to the snow and on a skiing/snowboard vacation. Each room was on each side of the living and kitchen area, and the master room had it's own fireplace for a little romance, while boasting a rich, tiled shower and jetted bathtub. The service was excellent from the staff! They were fast when beckoned and we very friendly. One night we valet and my wife left her wallet in the car. After she called the valet station and asked them to check it, they quickly showed up at a nearby store where we were to give it to her. Talk about service.... The hotel is located in the center of Heavenly Ski Resort and next to a shopping center and just a block from the Casinos on the Nevada side. The hotel is a vacation club, however it is also part of the Marriotts Timber Lodge also, thus have some wonderful activities for all ages. My wife took part in some of the workouts and then we all took part in a all you can eat smore making activity one night by the fire pits. Maid service was done everyday and not too early like some places. They provided free internet service and have flat screen HDTV in every room with DVD players. next door at the Raley grocery store is a red box, get a DVD for rent for only a $1. If you go, go to a place called Teps Villa Roma for dinner, great Italian food. Fire and Ice is expensive and not worth it. I've been to Mongolian Grill and its way better. Take your money to one of the buffets at Harrahs or Harveys instead. The hotel does not offer room service but the kitchens are awesome and have room to cook a Thanksgiving dinner if need be. Go here and relax, I know you will enjoy it!

I usually don't expect too much out of hotels, as long as they're clean and the staff is friendly then I am satisfied. This place was over and beyond my expectations. Now we went at the end of September so obviously not peak season by any means. But the stay was amazing and very affordable. The total bill for hotel and valet for four days and three nights came out to 465 bucks. Not too bad at all.

Location is perfect. For skiers and sightseeirs alike it is right next to the heavenly gondola. Also only two blocks away from Nevada and the casinos. And only a short drive away from the lake. And the shops and restaurants were amazing and all there at the bottom of the two Marriott hotels. It's also across the street from Raleys which made it great considering our room had a full kitchen. And it had a redbox so we rented two movies during our stay.

Staff was always freindly, along with everyone in the hotel. Best experience ever. Will definately stay here the next time we come.

I'm a sucker for this place.  If you want to ENJOY your vacation, this is the place to stay for a few reasons:

First, if you're a rider like me, it sucks to have to wake up seriously early, load up the truck, drive to the resort, get all your gear together and on your body, then walk up to the lift ticket lines to buy your lift, THEN get riding.  By staying here, you've cut out a lot of that mess -- basically, wake up close to the time the lift starts moving, put on your gear (in the room), take the elevator, then hop on the lift - EASY.  And, I love love love being able to get off the gondola and go straight up to my room without having to sit in the truck and crank up the heater to defrost myself, before driving back to the cabin.

Next, once you've parked your car, you don't have to drive until you're ready to head home.  You can walk to all the casinos, restaurants and even Safeway.

They have a fully stocked kitchen with everything you'll ever need, including dishwashing liquid, extra paper towels, everything!

By the way, I love the 2 bedroom + loft, 3 bath place they offer because it's big enough to accommodate a lot of people (plus it's 2-stories!)

Also, they have shops! So, if you're bored, go walk around and look at the shops. Or, go ice skating.  Or, hang out at Fire and Ice and have a few drinks at the bar.

As an owner, we use this property often and love the easy access to Heavenly for skiing and snowboarding.  Our only concern on our last trip, was that our pilot lights were not lit in the condo, the jacuzzi was under several feet of snow, and some of our drawers and closets hadn't been swept (hair on the floor).  These are easy fixes and were remedied immediately, but when an own is coming, it would be helpful if all these things are tested and ready to go upon arrival.

We are definitely fans. We've stayed here numerous times with the help of our friend's marriott discount. We just came from a wonderful weekend.

You can't go wrong with staying here as it's close to everything. The Heavenly Gondola, 5-10 minute walk to casinos, movie theater, Starbucks and Raley's across the street.

The rooms with full kitchens are stocked with everything you need to cook even a crock pot. They also provide plates, utensils, glasses, wine glasses and tumblers. We used to rent homes then the marriott came along and we have been repeat customers.

    * great location (literally right next to the Heavenly gondola)
    * timeshare kitchen had everything, e.g., fullsize fridge, stove, microwave
    * free WiFi
    * free laundry
    * 24 hour activity (workout) room
    * sauna, steam room, 2 hot tubs, pool (just okay as it's w/o a deepend)
    * mostly friendly staff

    * $22 daily parking is a complete rip-off
    * pay for room cleaning
    * TVs aren't that great, but having HD channels is nice
    * beds not that comfortable
    * a bit of a hike to get to our room (had to go outside to use the direct elevator; otherwise, have to use 2 sets of elevators or elevator/stairs combo to stay inside)

    * stayed in a studio which was fine for 2 adults, 1 kid
    * will never garner 5 stars so long as the valet parking is so high

The car valet guys were great - friendly, quick, helpful!

The room was nice when we walked in. After that, all down hill!! The toilet wasn't flushing, the tv wasn't working, the toilet paper holder wouldn't stay on, 6 calls to get the sofa bed made. Need I say more? Yes!

I let the manager know when we checked out. Was he helpful? No! Why? If he didn't smell of alcohol, he came back from somewhere, no idea where..

He couldn't do anything about the inconvenience. He said they are owned by other people so we can't make it lower. Can't they take fault to the non working issues and take off from their part? He said no.

A lady called me once but I wasn't home, and I called her back but I still have yet to hear from her. No hope for the customer service at this hotel! Send hotel employees here on what not to learn!

I'd pay for customer service and a nice room. I got jipped, the room had all sorts of issues and customer service was unbearable. (I didn't go into the ladies attitudes at the front desk)

Will I return to a Marriott property? No!

The room was clean and packed with amenities and a kitchen.  Really nice price point for a great location.   The valet service could have been much better.   When I was checking out -  I called in advance for my car and no one offered to ask if I needed help with my luggage.  I carried three large suitcases down to the front - when I arrived to valet area in the front of the hotel - the valet actually did not even offer to help me - he carried the key only to my car and let me carry the bags.  I kept thinking - "who raised you -  young man"?

This Marriott is 5 stars year round.  My friend spoiled a group of us with a stay in a 3 br/4 bath suite for his bday.  The suite accommodates 16 (2 floors with 1 king, 3 queens, 2 pullout sofas, 2 cushions along the windows that the shorties can sleep on, a full kitchen with dishwasher, a dining table, and a fireplace).  The beds were so comfy with nice white linens and soft pillows...even those cushions along the windows were comfy for napping.  Most of the decor is modern with lodge-like touches like funky patterned fabrics.

It's a part of Heavenly Village so just steps from the gondolas to the resort ($28/person), shops selling gear year round, boutiques, restaurants.  We had access to a private beach which was a short walk away, 2 blocks from Nevada and the casinos, and Raley's was conveniently across the street.  I would live here all year if I could!  The properties are actually all for sale timeshare-style.

I'll definitely be back for the winter.  I think this is a better deal than renting a cabin with a big group since everything's fairly new, you won't have to worry about running out of hot water, and you have housekeeping everyday!  Even though I'm usually a cheapo about spending money on hotels (7 girls/1 bathroom to share in Vegas, couch surfing at friends' places), I think this is worth $50/night per person if you max out the # of occupants.  You do the math to figure out how much a suite this big will cost a night...

Recently stayed here and loved it! The staff was always friendly and helpful, espcially the valets.
We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with two fire places, full kitchen, and jacuzzi tub. The room was clean, tastefully decorated and the bed was sooooo comfy! Best 2 nights sleep of my life!
The location is ideal to. Short walk to the Heavenly Gondola and a shopping center right across the street.

    Will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here in October for a mini vacation in the 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom with kitchen. This place is wonderful! Very clean and service was great. Great location in regards to shops and a couple of restaurants below, Raley's across the street and a short walk to the casinos. This is located next to the Heavenly gondola which I can only imagine the convenience come snow season! The kitchen was fully stocked with equipment, utensils, plates, etc. Even our bedroom had its own coffeemaker, haha. Check the website for all the amenities but they had everything I needed.

I suggest parking at the casinos down the street (like Harrah's) for free instead of paying to park at the Grand Residence.

I stayed here last  weekend while snowboarding at Heavenly.  I LOVE THIS PLACE!  The place comes with a kitchenette that has everything you could possibly need.  There are so many things I like about this place so I'll just name a few:

    - right across the street from Raley's.  I bought fruits for smoothies in the morning (blender in room).
    - Gondola is right there.
    - Casino is a small walk.
    - Nice flat screen TV's.
    - Steam room & hot box
    - Gym open 24hrs.
    - nice outdoor pool and sauna's.

Pay a little more and stay here.

Fabulous top notch 5-star resort!  When we arrived just after 4 our room wasn't quite ready. We had to wait about 10 minutes and they waived the $24/day parking fee which was nice.  The room was very clean and has everything you could possibly need.
The only con is the price of parking and there really is no free alternative around here.

A great place to rent if you have a big group. The rooms were comfortable and clean. They didn't clean our place every day or provide us fresh towels so we had a Mt. Everest of stinky chlorinated towels. The windows weren't sealed so we had to cover them with towels b/c the cold breeze made us freeze at night. Besides that it is right there at the gondola and the hot tub and pool were great.

Not sure if a Marriott really needs too much writing.... cuz so far my experiences @ various Marriotts has been quite satisfying....

Anyhoo, I shall write a thing or two or mayebe even three, actually make that four ....3 of the best things and 1 bad thing :)

1.Right at the base of Heavenly... step-out-of-hotel-room-and-into-gondola. Heavenly sports store even holds your boards for you overnight...

    2. Super duper comfy bed..... not sure if it 100% bed or part bed and part tired body waiting to go into sweet slumber.... :) but i had great sleep

    3. Kitchenette with microwave, oven and plates/cutlery etc.... (baked some cookies and had it with milk (BTW, Raleys is right next door!!! woot woot!!!)while watching SNL .....so perfect!

    Not-so-good thing:
Friggin  $22 overnight parking..... did it cuz of the following 2 convenient factors:
    1. Car stays snow-free
    2. Don't have to lug the suitcases and snowboarding gear around (between Harrah's free parking lot and the hotel)

This place aint cheap but definitely a great place to stay if you're looking for something really close to the slopes... Definitely stay here if you're with a group of people. The rooms come with a kitchenette so it's great if you're trying not to spend hella money eating out. They have a pool that's heated so it's perfect for night swimming. Lots of restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and casinos close by (practically a walk away, no more than a 5 minute walk) so you're never going to be bored.

My family and I are going to make this an annual stay here during skiing season so I highly recommend this place.

Yep, stove, fridge, microwave and utensils! The bell hops are super cool about holding your all your luggage until after snowboarding the day of check out.  They made our stay very easy and pleasant.  Plus, there's a ton of stores, restaurants and shops all within walking distance.

Never again will my family and I stay here!

First off we stayed there the first time and it was fine we had a room w/ a full kitchen and a balcony however it was right across the hall from the game room area of which is very loud especially w/ the paper thin walls! I called about moving rooms nope they had no available rooms.

GET THIS....When we checked out and got our car back something felt off to me, stuff in my car was moved and even TAKEN! My gps system had an address put it in of which we had never heard of, and then we were suddenly missing my owners manual case which included the owners manual, a few other booklets about my car, oil change and other various car service receipts.
When I called to figure out what happened to my car I was told "nothing" but they would check. After no call back and leaving multiple msgs I had no choice but to contact corporate to step in. They did and finally I received a call back now e it had been 8 days since our stay. They emailed me pictures of cars that looked like mine because even though I provided color, tint, plate #, year, make, model they still didnt know what it looked like! Probably because their cameras are HORRIBLE and they only have 1 for their entire garage!!!!

Then a women called me from the tahoe area to tell me she found my owners manual w/ contents of which was all in a black case, on a bench open about 4 miles from the hotel! Anyways I notified the GM Greg and they were nice enough to mail it to me however they finally contacted me (after 11 more days!) To say "We dont really know what happened to your car, it entered and left the garage at your check in/out times."
Uh that really doesn't tell me who was in my car and why!
The GM would not give me my money back (like he had told corporate he would do) and it was a nightmare getting in contact w/ him. I finally emailed him saying I wanted a comped room and I was coming up on specific dates. he said he had a room for me.

We arrived at the hotel for their second chance on keeping us as customers, we were very skeptical about staying but figured we would try it again.
At check in I was given a room and key so my 3 yr old and I went to our room...SO WE THOUGHT! The key wouldnt work and then I suddenly heard voices in the room! So I lugged my 3 yr old back through their maze to the front desk where I was told they had written down the wrong room number.
Once I got to the right room through the maze w/ my child i opened the door to find THE SMALLEST ROOM POSSIBLE! No balcony, no kitchen, no place to sit, no table, NOT EVEN A COFFEE MAKER!!!! We we livid!!

We had paid a fairly high price when we first stayed there for our room which was great other then location of it. And when we got a room paid for by them it was literally probably the cheapest most pathetic room I had EVER seen!!!

Not to mention if you say this place is clean then PLEASE TELL ME WHY THERE WAS DUST ON THE FREAKING CARPET!?!?!?!?!

Dont waste your money here there are so many more hotels in the area that I guarantee you are 100x better then then this place and their staff!!!

This is the only place I will stay when I go back to SLT.

Location is great - valet the car and walk to food, casinos, stores and the Heavenly lift. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. I loved the 2 fireplaces and kitchen. We had a great view of the pool and overall felt really comfortable here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well. Love the architecture and decor too.

The only drawback was the chatty maids early in the morning who were outside the Housekeeping storage area near our door.

The location was perfect, the valet guys were super friendly and very helpful. I wish i could give this place more stars. Terribly disappointing. We checked in and confirmed we had our king sized bed as reserved. But only to find out we had a queen. When we called to change rooms I spent 5 minutes arguing with a woman who tried to convince we it was a king. It took a tape measure to convince them. But to no avail. No more kings available. Then we had requested additional pillow as there were only two in the room only to be told sorry, they had no more. I expect more from a Marriott.

Had a blast here! The 3 bedroom suite with the loft is amazing. There was enough room for all of us, which we were afraid wasn't going to happen.

Loved being in the middle of everything. Everything was within walking distance and we were able to just go from the suite straight up the mountain almost.

Only things I didn't like were: parking. It's $24 a day. Park at Harrah's and walk over. Having to walk outside in the cold to get to our room. I'm a baby haha. Our keys constantly didn't work, which happens but our encounter with engineering wasn't so nice.

Would I go back? Yep! Already planning for next year!

Ahhhh....  The lovely town of South Lake Tahoe and the infamous Heavenly Ski Resort where my skiing days began (true story - I started hardcore on the bunny hill a couple years back)!  If you are looking to ski at Heavenly for the weekend, location is RIGHT ON THE MONEY here at the Marriot Grand Residence Club.

To put it in perspective, I have had my fair share of hotel stays in my days.  I used to be a consultant for work and have travelled a bit.  Let's just say I have high but reasonable expectations for hotels (and in general as a matter of fact.)  We were a party-of-four crew and had a queen room suite.  One word: BALLER! The room was definitely comfortable, clean, and it completely exceeded my expectations.  The suite came with two bathrooms stocked with Bath and Body Works amenities (bonus), two large flat screen HDTVs, a living room, a full eat-in kitchen, and best of all, an amazing fireplace.  Not to mention, those who are skiing or boarding (which I imagine most of you will be doing such a thing if you are making the trek out there), are able to walk yourself and your gear right to the Gondola.  I, however, was a rebel and came for the ride and decided to après the whole weekend.

I surfed the web, read a book, went to the gym (24 hour access), made use of their steam and sauna room, swam outdoor in their all-year round heated pool (alongside super-bundled up eagar passerby Ski and Board Bunnies who thought I was crazy), and chillaxed in their outdoor hot tub (obvi.)  In summary, boarders and skiers were impressed and those who aren't partaking in the sport should equally be as happy.  Location is key here.  Shopping, casino, dining, grocery shopping, etc.  Price was fair.  We could have easily fit in an extra 2-4 people (if two people brought airbeds for eight total.)  If you can get eight in that room, I'd consider that a HEAVENLY DEAL for the convenience and the comfort.  Did I mention how super comfortable the beds were???  We're definitely coming back and won't stay elsewhere if we are going to Heavenly.  I think I am ready for après again, are you?!?!

    Awesome rooms!

My friends and I stayed here on a impromptu snowboarding trip, it totally impressed us all.

We stayed in the two bedroom suite, that had full kitchen and separate living room area.  Once of the rooms had a King bed with private bathroom and a fireplace. the other room had two queen beds and again its own bathroom.

All in all the two bedroom suite had three bathrooms, which is REALLY nice to have especially if your traveling with women.

Guys you know what I'm talking about right?  When we go into a bathroom to shower its like a Nascar pit crew... clothes fly off, hop in, get wet, and get out... 15-20 minutes and we are done if even that.

When girls go into a bathroom... who the hell knows what goes on in there... its like they're programming the space shuttle or something, but bless them for doing it, because the look DAMN good when they're done.

The location is awesome, is the gondolas to Heavenly is just outside.
The staff was friendly, at certain times there was hot tea coffee and cookies available in the lobby.

The feel is very upscale, and wood-cabin-ish the whole place has that model home thing going for it... this place is a total pantry dropper.

Its a safe bet if you bring your girl up here for a weekend getaway, your gonna get some crazy awesome vacation sex!  Yea its pricey but well worth every penny... it books up pretty quick during snow season, so plan ahead.  My buddies and I got lucky because we went early during the season

Disclaimer: I've only been here with my buddies so I can't vouch for the crazy monkey love effect yet, but this place goes into my every growing play book of awesome places to bring a girl... now I just need to trick some poor lady into falling for me muhahaha!

Really enjoyed spending my vacation at this Marriott.  We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a wonderful view of the pool area.  It was cozy and yet spacious.  The fully-equiped kitchen perfectly met our cooking needs.  The Club had a lot to offer with the daily activities.  Plus there was a bar downstairs with a happy hour and we could bring beer (in plastic cups) over to the jacuzzi.  The ski/snowboard storage place was run efficiently with no additional charge.  I would definitely come back here.

Stayed here- not as a member of the Marriott Club- not a great experience thus far. First of all, the valet/ check-in experience was awful. We just happened to see a sign that there is a $24 day charge to park, when the casinos a block away have free parking. Nobody mentioned it, it's not on the valet ticket- there is a small sign at on end of the check in desk, but that's it. Now we don't mind paying to park, we do however, mind being blindsided by the charge.
My next complaint is the noise. I can hear every sound from the room above me and the rooms on either side of me. Some sounds are better kept... privat, if you know what I mean!!
I can say that the room is nice, the kitchen is great, but for about $300 per night I think we would have slept better at one of the casinos.
Bottom line, it's not worth the money & we are very glad that we aren't in the Marriott "Club."

Well our story here is a hilarious one. We came for a nice romantic weekend. Our first room, a studio, was very nice, small but good quality at first glance. The TV was broken, the toilet ran and then if that wasn't enough...and I'm not joking here...there was a group of girls taking pole dancing lessons next door! Yes you heard it! Pole Dancing! Now it was hilarious listening to the instructor telling the girls to "bend and snap" "you are more flexible than that" "grab it like you want it" and hearing the part-A music playing. Luckily it was in the morning so we weren't kept up however the fact that we could clearly hear every single word they were saying was troublesome- did I mention that we were here for a romantic weekend? Yes I'll say it again, every single word. I spoke with the manager who wasn't amazing but after 15 minutes of talking it through she upgraded and moved us to a one bedroom the looked out to the pool. So in the end it all worked out. The location is excellent, close to everything downtown, but not a smokey casino. There is no restaurant on site and acutally there are few good restaurants in that area, but I guess that isn't why you go to South Shore.

Stayed here in a 1-bdrm (living room + bdrm w/ 2 queens; 2 bthrm) with 7 people. Pull out and window sleeper accommodated everyone comfortably. There was a full kitchen, so we brought groceries from safeway and ski'd in/out for a few days. Nice spa, great staff, but the expensive valet was a bummer (so we decided to park one of our cars at harrahs and the other car was complimentary with room). I was only really concerned with how close it was to the gondola and price, so it worked great for me.

Came here for a Bachelorette Party weekend.  When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by Mitch, he was friendly and made us feel very welcome.  We went inside the hotel to check in and their were fresh cookies at the check in counter.  Mitch then took our bags upstairs and valeted our car.  The room was great- it had 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 1,600 sq ft and a huge upstairs loft, there were also 3 fireplaces, a dining room table and a full kitchen.  The downstairs bedroom had a fireplace, balcony and huge bathroom with jetted tub.  The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There didn't seem to be too many people staying there, it was extremely quiet during our entire stay.   The staff here was very attentive and accommodating.  As others have commented about, parking is a little expensive- $26/day...but it's convenient, so it's worth it.  The only thing missing is there's no room service offered here.  Love how this hotel is centrally located and you can walk everywhere.  Had a great stay here and will definitely be back!!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. The location of the hotel is excellent. A 2 minute walk to the gondola is all it takes to get up the mountain. We will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to our friends.

I was honestly a little disappointed with their rooms.  They were O-K but nothing special.  The location is perfect and I guess that's what you're really paying for.  It's not bad but I'd rather pay a little more and rent a cabin.

Our unit has one bedroom with King size bed, private bathroom, and a separate entry door. The main residence has a bedroom upstairs with a loft sharing one bathroom. There is a separate living area with full size kitchen and bathroom downstairs.  I would give it a five star if it is cheaper.

It does not get any better than this. You can almost step out of your room into the gondola that takes you to Heavenly. The fitness center has everything that you could want. They also offer yoga and other fitness classes. The kid's center has just about anything a kid could ever want. Lindsey from the activity center as well as the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

My friends and I stayed at the Marriott Grand Residence Club this pasted weekend for Halloween. Hands down we all agreed this was the BEST place any of us have ever stayed at in South Lake Tahoe. The room was $275 after taxes and fees plus $24/night for parking.

This place is located in the heart of the Heavenly Village and 2 blocks from the casinos. There are many restaurants, shops, a movie theater, Raley's and the Heavenly ski lift all within walking distance making it very convenient.

We reserved a 2 bedroom / 3 bath suite with a fully equipped kitchen. It was very welcoming and felt like home. Also it was well decorated and very clean (possibly cleaner than some of the cabins we've rented). The size of the area was equivalent to 3 large hotel rooms connected (that's basically what it is). The first room had a large bathroom, two queen beds, large flat screen tv, typical hotel room furniture and fixtures and a full length mirror. The next room had a large dining table with chairs, 2 couches (1 pulls our to a queen bed), 2 soft seating areas along the wall, coffee table, flat panel tv and fully equipped kitchen (utensils, dishes, stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, dish soap and more). There are also bar stools at the kitchen area. You could easily sleep another 3-4 people in the living room. The third room is the master bedroom. It has a king bed and all the same stuff as the first room plus a balcony and hot tub.

The service was excellent. Valet parking is $24/night (if your looking to save money, like someone else said- park at Harrahs). I think you have to pay to use the gym. Make sure to check out the list of restaurants where you can get a discount by flashing your room key.

This place is definitely worth the price. I'm really looking forward to booking this place again when the snowboarding season starts and for my birthday in February.

The Marriott Grand Residence is an AMAZING place to stay, especially if you're going with a large group and planning to ski/snowboard at Heavenly.

My friends and I got a 3BR, 4BA Loft + full kitchen ($395/night) which was able to accommodate 10 people comfortably. The hotel is located right next to the Heavenly Gondola so you're a few steps away from the resort.

This hotel is ALL about good service. Everyone we interacted with was very nice and helpful.

Parking at the hotel is valet only for $24 per day.

Another plus, the Heavenly Ski Shop waxed our snowboards for free since we were staying at the hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years and have never had any real problems, I would recommend the place. The rooms are really nice and the prices are good for what you get. I've had different studios here with kitchens and also 1 bedrooms with kitchens. The pricing that I have paid was from $150-$175 a night at most. I also rented from an owner through craigslist once during the holidays and paid a lot less than the hotel was charging. The pool is nice year round and so is the 24 hour gym and sauna. I don't think the parking is worth $27 a day and I also don't need the help of the luggage handlers who expect tips. I just park at one of the casinos with free parking and walk in to the hotel. This has never been a problem for me but if you are traveling with children or have a lot of luggage and are not interested in doing what I mentioned, be aware of that $27 a day parking fee. The staff has always been good and friendly. I've never had any problems. In fact on my most recent stay I requested a pool or mountain view and early check in that they were able to accommodate. The room they gave me was available at 2:00 instead of 4:00 and had a view of the pool, mountain, and gondolas.

This place is all about location. You're in the middle of everything good there is about Lake Tahoe. You're right in Heavenly Village and walking distance to the gondola and shopping the area has to offer.

The room was just ok to us. We're used to a more modern feel and so maybe that was it. This place is in Tahoe so I expected and it was very cabin feeling. We stayed in a queen suite that had a queen bed (obviously), couch, table and small kitchen area. We didn't use the kitchen but it would be nice to have if you were staying for longer I guess.

The hotel also has valet only. It was $23/night. Not a big deal to me but I guess it could be a deal breaker for some with the casino's so close and their free parking. Honestly, I'd rather pay knowing that my car is safe and someone is there watching over the area. I called about 5 minutes before we needed the car and it was always waiting for us when we got downstairs.

I would definitely stay there again and hope to during the winter so that I can take advantage of the gondola and slopes.

I always say, "while on vacation why go cheap on where you stay 'cause no matter what you do or where you go during the day doesn't mean a thing when you have to relax in squalor during the evening". Marriott Grand Residence is a place where you can spoil yourselves in all the amenities, everything from excellent service, year round heated pool & jacuzzi's, in-suite kitchens, giant whirlpool tubs, gym/sauna, plush beds, dual room fireplaces, and scenic balconies. I doubt I will every stay anywhere else since coming here. I definitely made the right choice when booking this place for my wife's bday weekend.

Yes the $28 dollar a night Valet parking is bit of an inconvenience but who cares. This place is within walking distance of everything: casino's, grocery, bike rentals, and the Heavenly gondolla lift. I'm booking this place next Winter for sure.

Pricey but worth it.  Rooms were clean and very up-to-date.  Kitchenette was well stocked with everything one might need to cook a meal (you'll need to provide your own spices and food).  Although we didn't stay long enough to use most of the amenities, I noted the pool, a gym, etc., and beyond the hotel, steps away, we could get coffee, see a movie, or go get a mani/pedi or massage.  Location, location, location!

$26 for parking.  A DAY!!!!   Seemed like a lot.  We found a place a few blocks away (towards the lake) and left our car there.  Otherwise we were very happy with our stay.  Loved the hot tub and pool area.  Liked that they offer recycling, but wish they had a dedicated basket for it instead of a giant blue bag hidden in the back of the cabinet.  Basecamp Pizza located in the next building was exceptional.

Was there over the Halloween weekend which was the low season (i.e. pre-skiing season) and got good rates on the single bedroom "villas". These are essentially suites with a separate bedroom, and the dinning and living room in another. Bedroom was a bit small but the living area, dinning and kitchens were relatively spacious. Both rooms had flat screen TVs with HD channels. Sweet. The kitchens are fully equipped with pots, pans and utensils so if you bother, you can cook away or you can make ramen if you're cheap.

    - Great location. Shops, restaurants close by. Next to casinos if you're so inclined and of course, right by the gondola.
    - Good service overall although I had to wait about 5 minutes during check in as the room wasn't ready. But no biggie.
    - Restaurants, shops and activities discounts if you stay here. Just show your key to get the discounts and don't forget to ask.
    - Pool, gym, steam room although I didn't try them.

    - Valet parking for $24/night. I think the smart money is to park at Harrah's for free and walk about 5 mins. Hopefully, not too many people do this as Harrah's will find out and stop the practice ;).

All-in, great value for the money. I'll probably stay here or the Marriott Timber Lodge next door which is marginally more expensive.

    LOVE this place!!!

Visited here just before summer officially started and am absolutely in love.

My mom and I stayed here (one bedroom, two bathrooms) as our night away and being the clean freak she is, she normally swipes everything down with Lysol and did not feel the need!

We did not find one dusty surface, everything was comfortable (I slept on pull out and it was fab), the dining room, kitchen and living areas are just simply adorable and plush!

And let me tell you, that jet tub in the 2nd bathroom (deemed My bathroom) was wonderful!!!

The staff was so incredibly helpful, nothing was missing from this place :)

Stayed in a studio room with my wife in early May.  Have a full kitchen which is a plus.  It will be nice if you stay for longer period of time and want to cook yourself.  However, it takes away spaces for sitting or other purpose.  I am not sure how many people will cook if they just stay overnight.  I guess most of the people is time share owner with family.  The total area of the room is about the same as other hotels (around 350 sq.ft.?).  Nice and big pool for guests.  We used and there are no other people at the time, so we own the whole pool by ourselves.  Can't beat the location, you can walk to eateries, shopping places and casino.  Daily valet for $26 which is stiff, it is convenient if you have babies and seniors in your group.  We parked our car free in the casino parking lot and enjoy the 5 minutes walk.  Basically, you will get a nice and secure stay if you don't mind to pay a little higher price than the surrounding motels or casinos.

Very happy with the Marriott Grand Residence. Definitely one of the nicer places to stay in the ara, very helpful staff and big, clean rooms.

Sometimes it's a bit labyrinthine to get around, and elevators can be confusing so keep that in mind. The only major bummer is the twenty-something dollar a day parking fee they charge you. Kind of annoying and a big deal if you're staying more than a day or two.

I stayed at the Marriott Grand Residence Club from the 9-16th Dec.  My villa was a two bedrooms, two bath, and full kitchen complete with a pool table.  The office area overlooked the pool and two Jacuzzis.

Let me get the negative out of the way.  The only issue I had during this week was when I was checking in--they required a deposit for incidentals, which is normal for resorts and some hotels. The deposit was $250, not bad.  I don't do credit cards; I work only in cash, so I used my debit card.  This makes the transaction as pending, with is normal.  I was told if I charge things to the room, it will come out of this deposit, they also have a restaurant on site that you can use and bill to your room.  That is what I had the first night there, but the bill was not taken from the deposit, it was also a pending transaction on top of the deposit.  Not a big deal, but it did not match my expectation from what I was told.  Anyway...

The property/location is outstanding--right in the middle of Heavenly and so much within walking distance.  The customer service is truly top notch.  The staff remembered my name from the very beginning.  The valet--by the way is a full service valet, you will leave your car with them for your entire stay, if you need it 24hrs; they will get it for you.  If you need something out of the car, you tell them and they will "Run" and get it.  And I mean "Run"... each time I asked to get something from my truck; the attendant would latterly run to get it.  I never waited for anything while I was there.

This was my first time at South Lake Tahoe--and the memories I have of this place will last always.  I have met so many wonderful people, from the locals, to as far as Australia.   If you want to feel at home, and have the options for great restaurants, nightlife, or outdoor adventures--this is the place!

Stayed there this past weekend, checked out yesterday (Feb 11th). I have mix feelings about this place. Since I am a hotel connoisseur, design, accessibility, layout and overall staff consistency has to coexist with one another. For the price you are paying you have to get what you pay for.

    I'll keep it within lists:

    1) We were checked in late around 4:30pm

    2) We were not properly informed about the 10% discounts (restaurants/shops etc.)
I just found out today from my sister who is a Marriott member about the 10% discount perks.

    3) We were not provided a pamphlet, map, info upon check in

    4) No in-room map, area, restaurants, activity etc, pamphlet provided

    5) No room service

    6) Deceiving TV info about the hotel amenities such as (Adults Den, Kids Hangout and Market Place) it's located across at Marriott Timber Lodge. Which is not that far, but it can be torture when it is freezing cold outside since in order to get to the Marriott Timber Lodge you have to walk through a maze outside, across (The Gondola is in the Middle - Marriott Grand Residence and Marriott Timber Lodge are across from each other). Which would have been fine if there were a closed in walk-way for snowed in days/nights.

I have had the pleasure to stay at amazing Hotels and I have yet to experience a sink that was very high. Yes, I am not very tall, but it was more than the usual height vanity standard. Who designed the bathroom?! It just didn't make sense!

    7) The sheets were very rough... very disappointed with this. I've stayed at the Marriott Grand in Downtown SF and it was fantastic! Cutting corners again

4 stars for cleanliness, valet/bellhop,concierge staff were fantastic! I requested a late check out and it was granted! I loved that they were sympathetic that I was under the weather.

Since we checked out late @ 12pm, we wanted to stroll the village, grab a drink and food at Fire & Ice (located across at Marriott Timber Lodge) we left our luggage's with the Bellhop/Valet. By 4pm we headed back to the hotel to grab our bags and car with the valet. We happened to pass through the front desk and suddenly we hear, "How's it going Mrs. Ga****, how are you feeling today?" etc... we looked back and it was the woman that checked us in that remembered me saying I was not feeling well when we arrived. She greeted and send us off with well wishes very warmly, very nice touch! Very impressed since it was such full house for her to remember the details and the last name, and it was not like she was looking at the computer because she was talking to her co-workers and she interrupted their conversation to greet us.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom Villa, Loved the balcony overlooking the pool and Village, oversize whirlpool tub... plus!

    All in a nutshell...

Anyone that says this place is "amazing" or is all about location, I would have to disagree with. Location is right in the middle of tourist HELL. Of course, if that is your thing then I am sure this place does seem "amazing" to you. If you want to see the REAL Tahoe, find a quaint motel, or visit North Shore. This hotel is obviously designed specifically for the wealthy tourist. It features a mandatory valet service for $26 (plus tips), which will likely bring your room rate well above $200/night. To me this seems a bit extravagant, when you can stay just down the road at a smaller hotel/motel right on the water for under $100/night.

Keep in mind the Timber lodge or Grand Residence or whatever it is called, is not right on the lake. It is quite hard to find the entrance off Tahoe blvd, especially in the dark. To break it down (cause I know people hate reading paragraphs), here are the pluses and minuses:

    --Stylish and appropriate decor
    --Friendly staff
    --Free USA Today

--Hard to find entrance from street
--Elevator is seemingly a death trap that initially is very hard to figure out (use key)
--Hotel feels like a never ending maze when trying to find room
    --"villa" walls are paper thin
    --No continental breakfast
--They call the rooms "villas" when they are really just ordinary rooms

--$26/night mandatory valet service (plus tips)
--The "villa" pull out bed is a dinky old spring mattress that you have to make yourself

I come to South Lake Tahoe once or twice per year.  I have stayed in most every decent place in town (and a few dumps).  This place is definitely worth the extra change. My partner and I got a 2-bedroom that we shared with 2 friends and it was very roomy.  Even got a much better rate through Heavenly Village Condos than through Marriott.

As the other Yelpers have said, this place is right next to the Heavenly Gondola.  When the weather is bad, I stay nearby, but Sierra at Tahoe, Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows, and Squaw are all a short drive.

Another Yelper indicated that these are timeshares, which is almost accurate.  The Marriott Grand is actually a fractional ownership where a smaller group of owners all own the same unit and each owner gets it on a schedule.  Marriott keeps the entire complex (rooms and common area) in top shape, though.

The service was great here in my opinion. My only interaction with the front desk was on check-in and check-out as I rented through the owner.  The concierge was great and had several useful tips throughout the week.   The casinos are out the door and a few minute walk in one direction and the Raley's grocery store is a few minute walk in the other direction.

You can rent skis and boards from shops right in the complex, but I have been renting for years from the nice folks at House of Ski on the Kingsbury Grade.  The Marriott has a complimentary ski/board valet right at the gondola so we do not even need to carry our gear in the rooms (bringing skis or boards in the room is against the rules away.)

If you actually run out of things to do, there is a movie theater in the complex, also.   The only down side is that they don't allow dogs.   This summer we are bringing Siberian Husky and will keep him up the street at Tails and Trails.

    It's all about the convenience.

    - Walk to the Heavenly gondola
    - Free overnight ski valet
    - Free daily boot valet
    - Walk to good restaurants in the village
    - 10% discounts at said restaurants

The rooms are more like apartments than hotel rooms, which I like, but that means minimal hotel amenities - no room service and only "tidy up" daily housekeeping service.

One thing I don't like is how hot the rooms get. Even with the heating turned completely off it will quickly climb to 75° at night which is too warm for me to sleep in. If you set the thermostat to 65° it will blow cold air but has trouble getting it down below 70°.

The other problem is road noise. Most of the rooms face the main road or the shopping center across the street so you hear cars, revelers, snow plows, etc, all night long. So if you can, check in early and get a room facing the mountain or pool.

I get around, having lived in Europe and Asia and all through the US.  Of all the places I've stayed in my fifty years, this is my favorite. It's centrally located in a small but wonderful little village, with a great supermarket, movie theater, ice rink, ski shops, and several great restaurants.  More entertainment options exist right across the state line a hundred or so yards away, including several casinos.  But what tops it all is the fact you can walk out of your room, stroll down the hall, grab your skis from the complimentary valet, and within a hundred feet you're at the Heavenly Gondola and minutes from 4,800 acres of pure skiers' heaven and the BEST views you will ever see anywhere.  Pure bliss!  After skiing you can hang out in the huge, heated, and spotless pool or one of two large outdoor hot tubs.  It just doesn't get any better than that.

BTW, I've stayed there four times and never had a "split" stay where I had to move to a different room.  As far as the "tourist hell" comment, this place is nothing of the sort.  Ever been to ANY beach resort, or Lake George, or touristy sections of large cities like DC or NYC?  South Lake Tahoe is still charming, with a mix of small hotels, local eateries and whatnot.  I actually can't believe it's not more built up and I hope it doesn't get that way any time soon.

I am also amazed at the things people complain about.  Sheets not quite soft enough!  No pamphlet of ideas of what to do!  Having to walk a hundred yards to an attraction in the cold!  No room service!  Oh my, the horror of it all!

Five stars and worth every one of them. I literally enter a state of depression when I check out of this place. As soon as I do, I'm already dreaming on my next visit to this most special of places, a locale of unrivaled beauty and wonderment.

We've been lucky enough to stay here 3 different times - the latest being October 2012 (which supposedly is the low season as we were able to get 7 days lodging through Interval Internal for $400.00 total).  What a deal!

The rooms are nice; the kitchen has everything you want to make a meal.....the beds are comfy; and the location is ideal.  The staff is friendly and the valet service is fast and great.  All in all a wonderful place to stay.  We were able to walk to so much around like the movies, casinos, great restaurants, grocery store, shops and more.

The services at the hotel are good.  Nice swimming pool and jacuzzi - they also have a variety of events.  Our favorite was the "Halloween spooky drink".  We followed their recipes and made some spooky drinks for Halloween - complete with alcohol....and when we messed up following one of the recipes, we were allowed to drink our mess up and make another one.  We left the event with a great alcoholic buzz....luckily we were just walking to dinner this night.

All in all a wonderful place  we usually go fishing as well....and yes, we do take those trout into our Marriott room and cook them up for breakfast.....

Its a wonderful timeshare - and for the low price we paid, amazing.

(Note: Sorry for the late review - but just remembered to write up our fantastic stay at the Marriott - highly recommend this place for an extended stay in the South Lake Tahoe area.)

We started our stay with a bad taste, we are marriots club owner. The bell hop came and watched us, we checked in, came back out my wife and I looked at him and he did nothing, my wife got the luggage cart we filled it, while he looked at us. We took it to our room. A few day later we found out that we were charged 26.95 a day parking, even thou we were owners. There was no disclosure when we signed up, nothing was said when we checked in, was not aloud to talk to the manager. We have stay here at least 3 times as was never charged. We are really disappointed with marriots. Make sure you ask a detail list what you will be charged with when you check in here

I was very skeptical of saying here at first. Primarily, because I didn't want to feel like I was stuck inside a ski resort that I used to frequent a lot. I thought I'd be stuck around tons of kids running around and very mediocre food. I was obviously wrong!

    - Grounds are nice and a little away from the actual Heavenly village so it doesn't feel so much like a ski resort.

    - Excellent! Very very conveniently located a across the street from Raley's market and a bunch of other eateries. Located a few blocks from Harrah's and Harvey's Casino for those looking to lose money. The pool seemed a lot bigger in the photos but it was good enough. Close to the beach and lake.

    - A mix of modern amenities along with some older rustic ones. The 1 bedroom was very spacious for 2 people. Full kitchen. Huge bathroom. Beds are comfy but pillows weren't so great.

    - 24 hour valet for $26/night or park yourself for a few dollars less. They are very quick on getting your cars.

    - Excellent. From the front desk (gentleman at the front greeted me by my last name every time), bell hops, and cocktail servers at the pool, all wonderful.

    - We were able to score a solid deal on a 1 bedroom suite so that made it better. Not sure if I would've paid the regular price.

I'd definitely come back here again.

I just returned from a quick weekend getaway to celebrate my sisters birthday and my husband and I decided to stay here in the 1 bedroom suites whereas the rest of my family stayed at a nearby timeshare.  We arrived on a Friday afternoon and checked out on Sunday. We found each of the staff members friendly, helpful, and extremely pleasant. They not only looked after our needs but they were very personable and made us feel right at home.

We found the 1 bedroom suites to be spacious and provided us with plenty of room to have the 9 of us relax after a day of touring around Tahoe. We even cooked one meal here for the entire clan and didn't have issues finding our way through the kitchen.

-Master Suite does not come with a luggage rack making it very difficult to manage the suitcases. We don't use the drawers when staying at hotels so we had to pull out the luggages and lay them on the couches any time we wanted to get in them.

--The only garbage cans were in the kitchen and the two bathrooms.  Could've used one in the master bedroom and living area.

--Windows don't have screens on them so leaving the windows open let bugs fly in.  We had a light near our master bedroom so it seemed the light attracted lots of bugs in the evening - we had to keep our window closed at night which was a bummer. The cool fresh air would've been so nice to have.

--Only valet parking which was $26 per night but included in and out privileges. When my family came over, they had to pay for parking.

--No late check outs. We wanted to get in a good run and a swim at the lake the morning of check out but we had to be out of there by 11am.  We wouldn't have been able to make it back to shower by then unless we left at 7am. I would've paid extra if we could've checked out by 2pm. Of course, not a full rate extra but $50-100...sure!

--No in-suite laundry. You had to go to a shared area to do laundry. Not too convenient if staying for an entire week with the family.

--As mentioned above, the staff is great!

--Location is perfect!  Nearly everything is walking distance; restaurants, casinos, Starbucks, casino's, heavenly gondola, the state line, Raley's--and more.

--Loved having a full bathroom in the front room for guests. Worked out perfectly.

--1 bedroom suites are spacious. We had the room to ourselves but could've easily had a couple sleep on the pull out, 2 children to sleep on the benches flanking the fireplace (they were nearly twin sized), and if someone really wanted to, you can put a blow up mattress in the desk area which was wide open.

--While it was $26 for valet parking, they were really quick when you called for your car.

--I really liked the seating area in the master bedroom. Allowed my sisters and I the opportunity to be apart from the guys as they were watching sports in the main room.

We didn't use any of the hotel amenities like the the gym, pool or activities but they provided a little something for everyone. If we stayed longer, I would've definitely done a few of the pilates or yoga classes.

We would definitely come back if ever in the area. We even considered purchasing a timeshare here. We could definitely put it to good use. ; ) I'd highly recommend the Marriott Grand Residence for your vacation travel.

3 Stars for the most uncomfortable bed ever made.  I kick it up to 4 because I can walk out my door and be at the Gondola.  Kitchenette was really well stocked with great pots/pans , a blender, toaster  and real knives.    I didn't cook this time but I would if I went back.

Best of all there is a  humidifier!!    In this altitude you are going to want to crank that thing up!

We have stayed here 3 years now and this by far is one of our favorite places. The hotel staff other than the concierge is amazing. The front desk and the house keepers are very friendly. The staff do a lot to make sure you are happy. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is for 2 reasons. 1 reason is the concierge.  They are rude and give the guests passing by no greetings etc. They have many breaks and are not available all the time. 2nd reason is this resort needs to get back to having free refreshments outside by the pool as they did in the prior years. This is a resort and now they are charging for those small refreshments outside and years in past this was free. We pay a lot of money so the least we can have is free snow cones or free watermelon. Again years past it was free.

My family stays here one or two times a year for a stay of a week.  The rooms have been recently upgraded (yea!).  We always stay in a room at the END of one of the hallways as they tend to be quieter and also away from the elevators.  The rooms are spacious and the kitchens fully equipped.  We love this spot in the summer.  My girls spend hours in the resort pool and we also walk down to the free private beach with passes from the front desk.  At the beach you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, sea-doo's, canoes or even a motor boat.  There is a cordoned off swim area as well.  We play mini-golf next to the hotel, go out for an evening ice cream, or see a movie.  Hotel is always extremely clean and it is only a short walk to the casinos if one wants to see a show or gamble.  Friendly staff.  The valet parking is expensive if you aren't an owner so add that in to your cost or park at one of the casinos and walk if you feel the need to be thrifty (or have a second car!).

I can't recommend a place where my first impression is a rude front desk clerk. We asked if we could add a third person to our room and he told us no (in a cold tone) but that he was sure we could cancel our reservation.
We were taken aback by this, but then he added that we'd also have to pay $26 /night for parking, which we were unaware of. It seemed as if he hoped we would leave!
At this point, his attitude toward us was so bad that another clerk actually stepped in, told him to find us a room to accommodate us and she made us feel welcome. Her helpfulness made us decide to stay.
We loved the room and location. But we won't put up with rudeness. There are just too many choices out there. Sorry Marriott, two thumbs down until you train your staff.

This is one Beautiful hotel. Very large and very very nice. Their outdoor heated pool looks very inviting and they have 2 hot tubs by the pool. They have a sauna and steam room open 24 hours which i didn't get to try since i only go to those rooms after I swim, which i didn't get to do because i was misinformed by the person that check us in that the pool was open 24 hours when she meant the Sauna and Steam room, understandable mistake no biggy.

You can actually rent dvd's downstairs, and the best thing about this hotel is it can go straight to the middle of the Gondola Plaza by going through the pool area. The security guard that was there a couple nights ago was super helpful and directed us to a great place to eat that was bboth delicious and affordable.

I will surely be back here hopefully in December to enjoy this lovely hotel and the beautiful Lake Tahoe .

Where my parents and I stay whenever we go up to Tahoe. It's always a lot of fun to stay at this hotel, and I can't wait to come back soon.

Also, all of the activities are at the Timber Lodge across the way, but who cares? My family and I don't really do the activities, but they sound fun.

This place has been beautifully redone and is beyond immaculate! I would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to pretty much everything in South shore. Only draw backs are they're consistently pricey and theres only valet parking available.

As I said earlier, I'm making plans for our family vacation I can't help but think of what a blast we had last summer in Lake Tahoe!  We stayed at The Marriott Grand Residence Club which is located at 4100 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe  for a few days &  the hospitality of the staff was great they were so attentive!  The amenities are always great to have when you travel with your small children & a teen!,  the grounds are well kept and the POOL  was a great way to wrap up a long hot day of activities with the kids!
Aside from the grounds its location is an additional perk! It's centrally located in a small village that has several restaurants, a movie theater, a ski lift, ice skating rink, a few ski shops & of course several souvenir shops!
    In addition, there's a shopping strip a
cross the street.  The shopping strip is complete with a supermarket coffee shop, & several more souvenir shops....etc.
I hope that if you get the opportunity to vacation in Lake Tahoe that you get to stay here at least once!
There you have 5star review! Enjoy your Vacay!

I couldn't have been happier! The location is perfect. All the shops and best restaurants are right outside your door! And, of course the Heavenly Gondola! I was indeed in heaven staying at the Marriott.
Kudos to the friendly and very helpful staff! I will never stay anywhere else when traveling to Tahoe! Why would I?

I was pleasantly surprised with our stay. We booked a last minute trip to tahoe & found this great deal. Traveling with a baby, we wanted to be central to everything and this location couldn't be any better. Literally located in the heart of heavenly village. Great for if you plan on ski or snowboarding at heavenly and it's located where all the restaurants, shops and ice rink are. Great for families! We had a studio & It comes equipped with a kitchen & essentials. They even provide cribs and pak n plays for babies. Very clean and service was great. They checked in on us to make sure we had all we needed. $26 for valet a night is pretty steep but it worked out great bc we carried so much bulky items that it came in handy. The bellman brought our things to our room for us & when we left took care of our things & had our car waiting in the front for us. It makes a ton of difference when you have an infant with you. And an added bonus, they provide treats in the hotel lobby...cookies, hot cocoa with whipped cream, hot apple cider etc! There's also a bunch of amenities - pool, fitness center, sauna...they even provide scheduled fitness classes and activities for both adults and kids. Would definitely stay here again!

I was lucky enough to stay here with some friends over Easter and I have to sing its praises in comparison to the casino hotels in the area. Everything about it is inviting. The architecture, the location, the staff, THE POOL. Just a little bit away from the main drag in Stateline, its offers a sort of secluded and private feel in a very crowded area. The hotel has all kinds of security measures to make sure that just hotel guests can use the many amenities it offers, but at the same time no one is a snot about it. The staff is very friendly and helpful, everyone was always saying hello and offering assistance. Even the security guard that patrolled the pool (they're usually mean) was very kind about telling us that it had been closed for an hour.

The pool was very big and cozy, and I believe is open year around as it's heated to 85. There are two hot tubs, plenty of very comfortable lounge chairs (which I don't see very often, a fire pit, and lots of rustic decorative elements that don't let you for get the beautiful alpine setting you're relaxing in. Just inside from the pool there are a couple of huge fireplaces and plenty of seating. Down the hall there's showers and lockers, a steam room, and a sauna. It's all very relaxing.

Aside from some relatively tacky furniture, the room was just as good. We enjoyed a two bedroom suite with a balcony, a kitchen, two fireplaces, and three Jacuzzi tubs. It was perfect. There was plenty of space for all of us to run around, plenty of technology for cooking a full sized Easter dinner, and VERY comfortable beds. Everyone had an excellent time. No one was reprimanded for being too intoxicated, for being too loud, for being rambunctious around the pool, or for parking in the Raley's parking lot next door to avoid valet fees, not that I would know about any of that.. Overall i can recommend this hotel for those who would enjoy a very good time in a beautiful setting.

Remarkably convenient property, completely betrayed by the conflict of running a timeshare/fractional ownership property as a hotel.

Basically, Marriott's hotel room reservation system is incompatible with the unit-specific scheduling demands of a timeshare operation. Meaning, you may have to move from room to room during your stay.

The lodging is a relatively newly-built property that is essentially connected to the Gondola at Heavenly Village: Rental shops and ski school check-in is right downstairs, with the Gondola station 10 yards away. Furnishings are well-kept, the full-size kitchen is great for families, and the staff are friendly and professional. Comfy beds and nice mid-grade sheets.

But all of that may be for naught, as we discovered during a peak ski weekend: Upon check-in, we were told that our 3-night stay would be broken up into two different rooms. Why? Because owner A of the first unit is scheduled to use the unit after the first night, and the second unit doesn't become available until tomorrow, because owner B is still in there. Please have your things packed and leave them with the bell captain when you go skiing tomorrow morning, and you can unpack them in the second room after 4pm check-in tomorrow.

Maybe this is a minor inconvenience for a lightly-packed trip to a tourist city, where you might be outside from 9am-5pm anyway.

At a ski resort, where you may have paid the premium to stay close to the village, so maybe the small kids in the family can wrap up skiing early and come home, right after lunch, this is a disaster.

If you have babies small enough to need naps mid-day, in a quiet, warm place, this is a disaster.

And, if you were looking to keep a weekend's worth of keep-cold foods in the refrigerator, this is a disaster.

In other words, I feel stupid for having paid the premium for benefits I don't get.

The front-desk staff was friendly and sympathetic, but completely hamstrung at the lack of continuous room availability. And thus, unable to help this shocked family. We both nervously smiled at each other and each recognized that "Well, during peak periods, these things happen."

In our particular case the situation was resolved when owner A chose to cancel at the last minute. Thanks, I guess, but I think we just got extraordinarily lucky and dodged a bullet.

But even the possibility of such things happening on a regular basis, has me forever avoiding reserving this property through the Marriott website, and warning others to do the same. Instead, book through VRBO sites like HeavenlyVillageCondos, which feature reservation engines that display continuous availability for specific rooms.

Very nice hotel. Last year I stayed at the Timber lodge Marriott but I hated the 10am check out! !! So this year for our anniversary trip again to tahoe I decided to try this one out since check out is 11am.

We had a one bedroom with a fireplace. We had a balcony view a view of the pool. We were on the 5th floor. The check in was smooth and the bed was very comfy.

My only complaint was when my hubby had a really bad headache and I called the front desk to see if they had Tylenol, they said no but the timberlodge had it. Considering it started snowing outside I wasn't thrilled to walk down there in the cold/snow but of course I did it because my babe needed it.

Overall I liked this hotel but the timberlodge was closer to the casinos and the room was larger there. But overall it was a good stay.

Very comfortable hotel, clean, very nice, but they put us in an awkward place where we had to go up to the 4th floor by elevator, hike up to 8 mins until the other side of the hall, take the elevator to the 3rd floor, and go to our room. If we wanted to leave, same thing. Round trip was about 15 mins. Good thing is that we stayed only for 1 night, but next time we will make sure we do not get this room. In addition to it, it was right above Starbucks and the Pizza place with live music, so we had difficulty going to sleep that night.

I've stayed at both Heavenly Marriott properties (Timber Lodge and Grand Residence) and I had a bad experience at the Grand. They gave us a double queen room for the disabled. This is not usually or necessarily a bad thing but here it is appears that the Marriott must hate disabled people.  The room is funky and not updated like the others. It lacks amenities that the other rooms have, like a coffee maker, and had old out dated furnishings and fixtures.  My confirmation email showed a different room and had claims of things like coffee maker and a bath.  Even the bell hop agreed. Worse yet, we were charged for a normal room and, because they were full, we could not change rooms.  Sigh..  I can't speak for all rooms but this room was "near the gondola" which translates to "located directly over Base Camp" in the village where music blares until after 10pm. If you like to party and stay out late than no biggie but, if you have kids or like to turn in on the early side than it sucks. Be sure to request a room that is quiet and far from the village. This property let me down and I won't come back. The management was not sympathetic nor willing to make it right. For over $300 you can do FAR better.  Timber lodge was much nicer than Grand Residence, stay there if you want to stay in the village and have a choice. The pool was nice and staff was friendly. Property is located in the heart of everything.  Oddly the fire alarm went off both times we stayed at the greater marriott at Heavenly - weird. Evacuation and stand outside in the cold in your pajamas!  I normally like Marriott properties but this one isn't up to their standards in my option - maybe because it is a time share and they need to deal with owners. Good luck!

What a crap hole!  If I could give zero stars, I would.  My husband and I chose this hotel, based upon the reputation and past experiences at other Marriott hotels....we were wrong!

First off, they don't tell you, but this place is also a time share.  Kiss goodbye all the Marriott amenities you're accustomed to - no laundry service, no room service, and get ready for the loudest hotel experience of your life.

The first night, we could clearly hear the band outside that was so loud, we couldn't hear each other speak in our hotel room at 10 pm.  The next day my husband voiced concern, and no one ever followed up to move us. (Please keep in mind we are executive platinum members).  Then, our AC and heating went out, and still, not much awareness was made.  The final straw was our room not being cleaned at 3:30 pm and the staff not knowing when someone would get to it.  Completely unacceptable!  Keep driving past this dump - don't waste your time!

    * Very close to shopping areas!
    * Very close to rentals for activities on the lake

    * Everything was so CLEAN! :)
    * Pool had plenty of lounge chairs and warm towels. There was even pitchers of water and cups.

    * Our reservation was for the 2-bedroom villa. It was amazingly spacious and clean! 2 full bathrooms with jacuzzi. Full kitchen. Pool table. Study room. Pull-out couches. The interior design was beautiful and woodsy. Simply amazing!

    Staff / Service
    * Front desk was so warm and welcoming. Our room wasn't ready yet, but Lindsay gave us keys to the pool in case we wanted to promptly start our vacation upon arrival, which was a very thoughtful gesture.
    * Our room was ready about 30 mins after! So quick. :)
    * Valet and room service were beyond kind- always asking is if we needed anything else such as additional towels, pillows, and blankets.

    * My family was here to celebrate my brother's 20th birthday and the staff was SO VERY SWEET and handwrote a card for him to greet him and they gave us a complementary s'more coupon. They definitely went above and beyond to make our stay amazing, enjoyable, and memorable.

They get the 4th star because of their convenient location and amenities. I am a fairly light sleeper and the noise level was too high. Anytime someone walked down the hallway, I could hear them. The people next door to our left were up late and must have been having a party because they were extra loud. The people to our right were just having a normal conversation and I could still pick up their conversation through the thin walls.

Overall, friendly, responsive staff. . . Just too noisy if you are looking for some peace and quiet.

Probably the best resort I've stayed at in Tahoe. It is in a pristine location, just steps away from the gondola to Heavenly ski resort. Ample room in the 2 bd/3 ba place we stayed in with a fire place and loft. The 3 bathrooms definitely come into play when you are staying with women.

Had a nice updated kitchenette and 4 TVs in the place by my count. There are several restaurants downstairs and within walking distance.
There was a sign about diarrhea near the pool area that made me wonder "wtf are people doing that warrant that sign?"

Aside from the lack of filter with paper thin walls that let in a lot of noise, I have no further complaints.

I should give one star but since the FD guy was so nice I will give 2 stars.

This is by far, the worst experience we've had at a Marriott. We are Marriott Vacation Club owners and I wouldn't come back here, ever, although I probably would have to come back if I wanted to go to Tahoe again (unless Timberlodge is available, I'd much prefer to go there).

Anyway, why a bad review? We checked in as a family of 4 adults and 3 children and we had two rooms reserved. Obviously we wanted to be together because anyone who has 3 kids (2 year old twins mind you and a 4 year old) understands that they need their own room and they are quite difficult so the person taking care of them definitely needs some help doing so. Anyway, we check in and the guy informs us that the reservations people didn't put us near each other and he would do his best to put us near each other (I am sure he tried, although, unsuccessfully). The rooms were so ridiculously far away that there was no way to help my brother with the kids without huge inconvenience because we had to practically walk a mile to get to his room. I mean isn't it common sense to put people with the same reservation at least near each other? I don't think I am being unreasonable.

This factor definitely set the vacation off on the wrong foot and I would do a disservice to recommend it to anyone coming to Lake Tahoe on vacation.

I'm sure the amenities are great and whatever but if you have kids or feel like a hotel needs common sense, I wouldn't recommend staying here at all.

Also... I never did find the trash chute...
