We stayed here from booking on Hotwire. Got a great rate of $79 per night. Knowing that it was only 2 stars on Hotwire, we won't expecting much. The interior and service were what we expected for 2 stars. However, we give them an extra star for having the most powerful heater. I was dying it was so hot. We even turned it down. But when it's freezing outside, it's nice to know we'll stay warm in this cheap 2 star inn.

Location is great, probably half a mile down from Heavnly Resort center.

Hey fellow "Yelpers"  Rolled into Tahoe at around 6:00p.m. Sat night, not expecting to pay less than $100 for a room(if I found one).
Stopped at the Pinewood Inn,found a friendly lady in the cozy little office, got a room for $79.00.
She even gave me 2 keys, said she had 2 rooms and I could go look at them and pick which one I liked better WOW! It's usually take what we give you or tough luck LOL
    Comfy king bed,fluffy pillows.
The rooms are small, knotty pine motiff, a little worn furniture though.
But hey they have all the things you get a a chain motel and for the price you can't beat it.
    +Iron&ironing board
    +minni fridge
    +hair dryer
    +coffee maker
+The worlds best heater!!! The room was nice and toasty when we checked in.
    +plenty of clean towels
    +ice macheine outside
I will stay there again. So if you are looking for more bang for your buck, this is the place.

Worst hotel ever.  Reserved a handicap room didn't get it.  The room was filthy including the carpets.  Dirty towels were found on the shower floor.  The owners were rude rude rude.  They threaten to charge us for smoking in a smoking room.  They stood outside our room half hour prior to check out threatening to charge us an extra night if we were one minute late.  We were also informed by someone we were strangers to,  that one of the owners illegally entered our room while we were out eating.  When we returned our air was turned off.  Unbelievable.  I will sleep in a dumpster before staying there again.

This is a motel, so please expect a motel. It gets 3 stars because for a motel, they had a lot of extras.
    + microwave
    + bar
    + coffee machine
    + iron/board
+ wooden ceilings/walls so there was this cabin-esque feel
+ 1 minute drive from Heavenly Village

    The downside:
    - lumpy pillows
    - not the most comfortable beds ( i guess this is to be expected from a motel..)

Nothing fancy or new, but it was clean.  I stayed last weekend since camping in the rain was not something I wanted to do, and I am going back this weekend. It's a great place to sleep, or use as a home base if you want to spend your money on other things, or just don't have much money to spend!

As a tip for this hotel and others, check out their cost on priceline or travelocity, then call them.  They were willing to meet (and some places will beat) the cheaper price, and they like it because they get more of the profit.. I like it because I can make requests like a non smoking room.

The beds were comfy, and they have a mircrowave, coffee maker, and mini fridge in each room, a total plus for the budget traveler.

My 4th time here and LAST, It looks clean but me and my boyfriend ended up leaving with some type of insect bites all over our back and legs I wanna say it could be bed bugs but not sure. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE unless you like to sleep with bed bugs.

Basic accommodations.  Clean.  A little worn but well worth the money!

This place is walking distance from State Line and the casinos. This is important because the town of South Lake Tahoe has terrible nightlife.

We reserved three non-smoking rooms so of course they put me in a room that reeked of cigarette smoke. As if that wasn't bad enough the shower was claustrophobically small, everything was falling apart and funky, and the tweakers upstairs kept stomping around and yelling at each other no matter how many times I yelled for them to STFU.

I think the people that run this place are Sheiks and by people I mean a 16 y/o boy that does everything and an old couple (grandparents?) That stands there and watches him do it.

The next day I told the boy in charge that I wasn't happy with the room and needed to be moved. At first he didn't want to give me a new room, he said that people were coming to take it later. I said that I also reserved a non-smoking room and it was possible that the new people wouldn't care as much as I did. I didn't mention the noise. Finally he suggested a room in the newer part of the motel but warned me that it was by the road and I might hear traffic. I told him that I live in a city and am used to trying to sleep through car alarms so it wouldn't be a problem. It turned out that the cars whizzing by actually helped me sleep.

The new room was cheaply appointed but comfortable and I'd stay again.

This motel is comfortable, cheap, and has a good location. What more do you need?

I can always count on this place to deliver cheap, clean, and cozy rooms.  Plus the owners are very nice.

When I found a room on Expedia for only $35, I was admittedly nervous. But when I arrived at Pinewood Inn with my family, I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was already comfortably warm, unlike most of the Inns we've stayed at in South Lake. The room was very large with an incredibly comfortable king bed in the main space, a queen bed in an adjoining room and a very spacious bathroom. The bedding was clean and soft. The heater worked wonderfully and the inn keeper was very kind. It was a perfect place to rest our heads between long days on the mountain.

0 stars if I could...We stayed upstairs room 28. Gross stained carpet throughout the room, Stained comforter, Red CARPET on the walls of the bathroom!?? Didn't quite understand this! About 10 sheets of toilet paper left on the roll and not another roll in the room. Bathroom light fixtures broken, cigarette burn marks on the toilet seat...There is nothing cute or cozy or clean about this place. Don't waste your money.

This is a cute and cozy little motel. The price of 36 dollars a night can't be beat. The room is not luxurious,  but obviously that's not what you get when you only have $50 a night to spend.
The room has a coffee maker and a mini fridge. (Hint: bring your own coffee if you don't care for the tea bag kind.) It also has a hair dryer.
I would have rated it five stars, but the shower drain was stopped up (although the shower was very clean when I checked in.) There was also a strange waxy stain at the end of the bed spread. I noticed that they changed out the bed spread in between the 2 days I stayed here.
The walls and ceiling are pine paneled and the furniture is old. It feels more like staying in an old person's guest room than a motel and I like that. Other people might feel differently.  I will stay here again.

My girlfriend and I stayed there over the 4th of July weekend.  Upon arrival, I noticed that the guy at the front desk was rude, and acted like he didn't want to be there.  When we approached the room (#2) I noticed that that the front screen door had been previously broken into, and was left unpaired.  We kept hearing voices next door, which was super creepy.   You could hear them clear as day, as if there were no walls at all.  I feel like this hotel is filled with druggies and creeps.

Anyway, we were EXHAUSTED from a full day of activities, so we decided to suck it up and try to crash for the night....BIG MISTAKE.  At approximately 1AM, we heard a loud thump, and realized that someone had broken into our bathroom.  We both jumped up, got dressed and called the cops.  Thank the lord the guy left when he heard me get up and start shouting.  Anyway, when the cops arrived, we opened the door and found the guys's shirt and water bottle on the floor.  Needless to say we couldn't stay there anymore, realizing how unsafe it was, so we booked another hotel down the street and left.  When tried twice to communicate what happened to the owner's, and they couldn't care less.  I told them I would obviously expect a refund on my room, and they treated me like I was crazy for asking such a thing, and have fought me every step of the way.

I'm a very seasoned traveler, and have stayed in several 3rd world country motels, and never felt this unsafe in my life.  Trust me, it's not worth the $40 you save to have such a terrifying experience.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would.
I am writing the review after about a year of having stayed there. During this time my service was incredibly horrible and the hotel staff, the woman, who i am guessing is the owner's wife or owner, was very dishonoring and left me wishing I had never spent my weekend at their hotel.  I had to threaten to call the police to not be charged a "smoking fee" when there wear no evidence of smoking in the room.

I've stayed here many times for one night. If you are staying overnight and don't want to pay $70 + a night, this is a good place to stay. I recently stayed here over the weekend and it was the first time I stayed this particular room. It must have been remolded recently because it was the nicest room I had stayed in to date. Of course there are stains on the carpet (wear house slippers) and issues you probably wouldn't find at the local Resort Lodge or fancy hotel but this is a typical low budget hotel. The bathroom was clean and it even had a refrigerator for my water. I paid less than $40 for one night here and it was worth it.

If you're picky and needy this probably isn't the best place for you but if you are just wanting to sleep overnight somewhere and not pay $100 a night, this is your spot.

This cannot literally be a hotel.  Rooms look like a terrible truck stop bathroom   Mold , holes in the walls, burns on the bed and sheets stains all over, hair in the shower and sink.  Worst part is management. I Read pervious reviews and I cannot express enough how unprofessional and flat out rude they are.  Asked for my money back and they told me I could pay for a better room.  Look at the pics I uploaded.  Sorry I can't give it zero stars.

Don't know why my reviews aren't working but I highly recommend going elsewhere.  I turned this place into the health department.

Our stay at Pinewood was most enjoyable! Our room (a bit dated and in need of new towels) was clean, in working order, comfortable and a great value for the money!  The knotty pine walls made us feel as though we had rented  a 2 room cozy cabin.  The shower and HOT water was a 10!  Loved having a microwave and frig!Great location....some traffic noise but not any worse than any other place with the same location.  Very friendly Front Office staff also!  Would definately return!

Honestly the worst hotel or inn I have ever gone to .

    - Bad Wifi
    - dirty bed and bed sheets
-Charging people for broken thing that have already been broken
    - stoping the water in the morning before check out
    -cleaning before you check out
    -Touching your belongings
    -Bad customer service
-Thin wall can literally hear every outside noise
    - coffee lovers please just go buy coffee some where because the coffee maker is dirty as hell
-Found a used condom under my bed like eww!
-Asked for extra blankets and never got them like really!
-Only half of the outlets work

Horrible! Just sleep in the car! So dirty and smelly! I was afraid I'll get some disease if I stayed there. There were holes in the sheets.

Went there with two friends. We payed 69$ for two connected rooms with two kingsize beds. This price can not be bet.

Really close to the casinos and ski resorts in Nevada (5 min by car).

Check in and check out were simple and fast.

Room was pretty big. No complaints except for the cleanliness of the carpet. But it was okay for one night.
