I wouldn't recommend their honeymoon suites, better as just a cheaper stay in the regular rooms. The cable was crappy and fuzzy, the water never really got all that hot for the jacuzzi or the shower (i was freezing in the shower.) So we really only used the Jacuzzi like 1 or 2 times. Oh yeah and it sure wasn't very sound proof for a honeymoon suite! I could hear the people in the suit across the hall having a normal conversation and I could hear EVERY WORD! So needless to say we had to stay as quiet as possible in our HONEYMOON SUITE! They give you a fee beach pass, but the Lakeside beach doesn't allow booze, they even checked our ice chest to make sure we didn't have any!!!! (Lakeside Beach bar and grill wants you to drink THEIR booze.) Never went back there. On the plus, nice big king size bed, wet  bar, fridge and microwave, very clean, cont. breakfast if you can get up early enough.

Can be a good deal for a South Lake motel-  among the cheapest in the Stateline area.

Its  livable for the night if you are up to go skiing or to the casinos. Guy at the desk is nice. Good water pressure, hot tub.

Neg: crap internet service- weak signal and unreliable. Heater is combined with the A/C- I showed up when it was 25F and it was freezing for hours.

I stayed here last weekend while attending a wedding. Let me start with the positives. The beds were very comfortable, I actually slept very well, thats all! I checked into my room when I arrived and it was a straight shit hole! The bathroom looked like something you would see at a campsite. The shower wasnt even in the bathroom, it was randomly placed on a wall in the hotel room. That was just weird! The room was nasty looking (nothing like the pics we saw) I wouldnt even let my daughter take her shoes off! Later that night after attending the wedding and reception we came back to our room and my wife saw several bugs crawling around in the bathroom so we went to the front desk and had them switch us to a different room. The second room had been somewhat remodelled, It actually had the shower in the bathroom with some cleaner looking linoleum on the floor. The rest of the room was still nothing special but a little nicer than the first. This place wasnt cheap either, we paid around $125 for this dump. Next time I will spend the extra $40-$50 to actually stay in a 3+ star hotel.

Leave your bag and go to the slopes type of place. The bathrooms were actually pretty clean for a motel and the beds were clean. The heater was loud and parking was very slim. Recommend making sure you don't park behind the building in case the snow covers the entrance way. They serve food earlier than expected but very limited space. Close to casinos and Heavenly Ski lifts. CHEAP stay is always a plus...

I guess we figured if we were gonna roll low class, we might as well be ballin, and reserved the "honeymoon suite."

    Positives:
    - Great location close to the main drag through town.
    - The heart shape jacuzzi tub was the highlight of the room. We often soaked in the hot tub, can also be a springboard for some, umm *** Naughty time*** :D lol
    - Continental breakfast self-serve waffle makers make a tasty breakfast. We ate them everyday.

    Negatives:
    - Walls are paper thin so we heard the stimulating conversation of the "rednecks" next door. Also all the froeigners that were gathering for their bus tours in the morning stood out in the hallways and talked so loud it woke us up each morning. Also you can head a kid slamming a door all the way down the hall. (Happens every 12.75 seconds).
    - They might as well not have WIFI because the signal is so weak that when you can connect (for 3 seconds) you are soon disconnected and leaves you infuriated.
    - The continental breakfast was the same every morning: Bread, cereal, waffles (highlight), weak coffee, and juice from a machine. The lady that attended to the breakfast was obviously on a schedule and was also stubborn. This lead to a tenous standoff between her and a german tourist that went like this:
Franz: May we pleaz have some breadz?
    Attendant: No
Franz: I vood like some more bread
Attendant: I cannot bring out more bread until 9:00
Franz: I vood like bread now plz
    Attendant: NO BREAD!
Then they locked into a fierce staredown, which i was secretly hoping would incite a fist fight (my money says she would have dropped Franz with a right hook), however she won the staredown and Franz beat a hasty retreat.

Overall i wouldnt stay at this place again unless you are desperate or on a very tight budget.

This place is OK if you want a cheap room to crash when you go skiing or something.  The room we stayed in was very old; everything in it was old.  The shower curtain had mold on it and the towels did not smell clean.  The whole room had a weird smell, probably as a result of years of cheap air freshener accumulating.  And it's not actually a casino, though it's very close to one.

The good things about it include the hairdryer, the hot tub, and the breakfast.  The staff at the front desk were also nice.

I really enjoyed this place.  The price I paid to be within walking distance of Heavenly was a bargain.  The inn is off of the main street so there isn't much noise distraction at night.  There is plenty of parking, there was a nice heater in our room, and there was nothing to complain about the cleanliness.

The staff is very kind but they aren't too reliable with knowing what's around.  If you're looking for a good place to eat, just rely on yelp!.  If you're looking for reliable snow conditions, there is a local station solely dedicated to the ski resorts and they start reporting the conditions very early in the morning.

The best thing about this place is that the free ski shuttle stops RIGHT IN FRONT of the inn.  What a convenience!!

The rooms at Harveys were all booked so I ended up booking at Rodeway but Harveys was just a block away, so I had no trouble going there to hangout at night.

The overall appearance of this hotel and the rooms reminds me of a place where a low budget, newly separated/divorced man goes to live after being kicked out from his house.  It was dirty, old, smelled old, small, there were stains on the comforter, and most of all and most disgusting of all, there was dried old blood spatter on the inside of the shower curtain.  And mind you, these were the better rooms.  The room we were assigned first was older and uglier than the one we asked to be moved to.  There was no housekeeping or other staff available to bring towels or anything else to the room.  Instead, I was told I'd have to cross the street and go into the office of the adjoining property to get my own towels in the 20 degree Tahoe weather.  The wifi signal did not reach the rooms that were not directly near the office.  I will NEVER stay there again, ever.

I travel A LOT and stay in all sorts of cheap places and The Rodeway Inn is BY FAR the best bang for your buck, Tahoe or anywhere.  I've been coming here for 4 years during the winters and for $45 what more could you ask for?  The owner Mike works the front desk and genuinely cares about your stay.  Cleanliness is next to godliness in my book and this place is VERY clean.  The non smoking rooms are actually non smoking, they allow pets, AAA discounts, it's quiet, towels are fluffy, the sheets are clean and soft, the comforters are covered in duvets (not cheap polyester like other places), the heaters kick out heat, lighting is good, rooms are roomy, outlets everywhere, beds are comfy, rooms have bathtubs, a free continental breaky, h20 pressure is great, wifi has never failed me, and they even have a carport to park under! I can't understand why this place doesn't have 5 stars across the board.  If you don't feel like you're having a "5 star stay", call the front desk and work it out...they are completely accommodating.  If you're still not satisfied then maybe you need to fork over more dough and stay at a fancier place on the strip!

Remember this is a place to sleep while staying in Tahoe not a second home..
I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in So. Lake Tahoe Ca
Rodeway Inn So Lake Tahoe Ca.
We stayed there on April 1-3 2011.
Very happy with this establishment, location is great for walking to casino"s,eateries and shopping.
The Rodeway Inn did a fabulous job with our daughters wedding as well, the breakfast are more then we all could have hoped for. The rooms are more then adequate for the price.
The only draw back was the pool it was not pleasant to look at out our window due to being uncovered and very green, the hot tub was great in the middle of snow the guest were actually using it!
    that was great to see.

What a dive!  Yes, it is cheap as everyone else has said, but "clean"??? No way!  We stayed in the newer part across the street in a big king suite.  The place is in real need of attention.  I gave this an extra star because of the location and for allowing my K9 for a small fee.  Paper thin walls so we had to leave both the bathroom and the room fans running all night.  Something is wrong with the doors so people have to slam them to close.  Annoying as hell.  Breakfast?  Nah, because the tour buses of people (that are part of the scene here) take over the place!  I guess if you were there b4  they get there it could work out for you.  Oh one thing....the bed is really a nice sleep!

For a cheap motel in So.Lake within walking distance to Harvey's, this place has everything you need:

    -clean rooms
-continental bfast (weak, but still, free food)
-extra amenities:  hairdryer, iron, coffee maker, etc.
    -pool/hottub
    -parking included

I was expecting a really nasty room w/ a bed, and was completely surprised.  I'd stay here again, and would recommend anyone else looking for a basic room to check it out, too...

Great spot to sleep at while in Tahoe! Like other reviewers have mentioned- you are within walking distance from everything. The continental breakfast is decent, and the folks who work here are very accommodating. Overall- this is a great motel, and a terrific deal.

Keep in mind this is the less expensive way to go, dated and for the most part clean? $169 rate for Saturday, no breakfast (they were out-yeah?) and packed.

My second time staying here and I have enjoyed every stay. I will recommend, if you have no children, to stay in the balcony room with a King Bed. I read reviews where the other rooms were small, I can't speak for those rooms. Of course it's an older motel, but so are all the others ones in S. Lake Tahoe. It's better than a Motel 6! For a room for $60, I got a fridge, free parking, free wifi, free brk (just the norm continental brk, nothing fancy, but satisfying), a community kitchen for guests to cook (plates, utensils, etc included) and store foods in the fridge (how cool!) And lastly, friendly staff! Thanks for another enjoyable stay! Will return!

    Invasion of the Roaches,
So. Lake Tahoe has been a vacation destination for my family for over 35 years and never have we experienced anything like this. During our 2 night stay I personally killed 4 cock roaches and there were a couple that got away! On top of this we were awakened at 3:00am by a beeping faulty smoke alarm. After calling the front desk, someone was sent up to change the battery. The second and last night the alarm went off at 4:00am in which case I had to dismantle! Upon checkout we notified the lady at the front desk of the problems, hoping for an apology or empathy but to no avail. All this employee had to say was "There are no roaches in Tahoe they were probably sow bugs". Sad thing was she was actually serious! STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK, and don't be surprised if you bring some critters back home with you.

all of my attempts to review this place have been squashed.  Hopefully Yelp will not compromise.  This place is just ok as long as all you want is a place to sleep.  Worst part is being molested by a timeshare salesman.  WTF.  Why should I be exposed to that?  Can only reason that the hotel owners are part of the scam.  This is not what I want when on a hard earned vacation.  Management says they will deal with it but are clearly in on the scam.  Be honest or go home.

First time here. The only plus side to it is that it was only about 2.5 blocks from the lake beach and only a couple of blocks from downtown and casinos. As of our room, it smelled disgusting from the moment we walked in. Our room with two king beds was really small, bathroom tub was old and dirty and looked.. rusty? Hotel walls where in bad conditions and it looked like they had painted over the bad conditions with paint that did not even match the color of the actual room.

If you are going to the beach, make sure the check in person gives you a pass. On our first day we walked all the way to the beach to realized we needed a pass (since it is a private beach) The check in guy EVEN asked us if we where going to the beach when we checked in and he did not give us a pass. So we had to return to the hotel from the beach to get that pass. Not nice!

Breakfast was ok. You do need to get up early though.

Parking lacked, so you need to try to find parking early, and if you leave at night, good luck finding parking.

4 stars because they saved us from having to stay somewhere else! Our original hotel was less than standard so they called their sister hotel which happens to be Rodeway. Luckily they had 1 king bed left! The gentleman at the front desk was very understanding and accommodating.  Not to mention so polite and helpful.. It was very late and we appreciated it very much!

The rooms are nice.. A bit small but you don't spend much time in your room anyways! Everything appeared to be clean and safe.  I especially enjoyed the balcony in the back.  Definitely a nice touch! The beds are cozy and towels are clean.  Walking distance to anything you need, beach or casino! Really can't go wrong here :)

If your looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at that is close to everything, clean, has a pool and continental breakfast, stay here! If your looking for large rooms, and 5 stars, stay else where. We loved it here. It fit our needs and we walked everywhere! I would stay here again for sure.

Low price. Wonderful front desk staff. Excellent location. 5 minute stroll to the lake and same distance to shops. Had trouble getting wifi in our room and within minutes the friendly gentleman at the front desk upgraded our room for free to ensure we had a solid signal. It's hit or miss with many of these motels here but this one is a gem for the price.

Just A-ok. The biggest plus is that you're within a couple minutes of walking distance to Heavenly Village, to the Harrahs Casino, and also to the lake beach. Oh and free breakfast and mini energy bars at the front counter and free ski shuttles every 20 minutes during the winter. The drawbacks were that the rooms were TINY, loud old school heater, and decorations were stripped to the bare minimum of what you'll need. There is a heated pool and hot tub, supposedly, but it was in an altogether different complex across the street and was under remodeling when we were there in February earlier this year. Yeah sounds weird.

PS. If you are staying here only because you got a free weekend getaway to Tahoe from doing a timeshare tour somewhere else, beware when the front desk tells you they have a gift for you but will need you to meet sometime during that weekend. That "gift" is just more chances to view other timeshare tours.... just a warning.

I'd like to add more detail to my review.

I accidentally left valuable paperwork in our room, only realizing this 48 hours later in New York in transit to London.  Calling the hotel, the housekeepers (who are superb) had sense these papers might be valuable and retained them. Yes, they thoughtfully retained papers. The manager arranged on his own for FedEx to make a special Sunday call at the hotel to send my papers to London. The people who run this hotel are "salt of the earth" people. We were in this hotel the peak week of the year, incl. New Year's Eve and Day (which is a big deal in Tahoe), and for a double room large enough for two adults and two children, including a bathtub, with full breakfast for all, and free shuttle door-to-lift, we paid all of $100/night incl tax. It's a crazy value proposition.

The only "problem" is Heavenly itself, a horrible value proposition with incredibly expensive lift tickets and a frightening hour-long queue to get back down the mountain at the end of the day. The panorama while skiing is unmatched, but we'll never ski there again until they improve their capacity to bring people back down.

I stayed here one night only, 9/23/14. Room was very clean and comfortable, grounds were picturesque and homey, almost like an English garden.

Staff was super friendly and accommodating -- I needed to print something, and the front desk let me use their computer without any questions. Also, my friend left her phone charger in the room, and they held it for us until we were able to get back over there and pick it up. Very nice people!

Walking distance from both the casinos and a public beach. Great location, would definitely recommend!

The hotel has a great  location, very close to the lake and to all the casinos.
The price for the room is very affordable. They offer ski tickets options at the front desk which is also super convenient. It has all the basics needed for a weekend of fun skiing activities.

    RODEWAY

Clean, comfortable, pleasant late night clerk.  Easter Sunday, snowing, but bad snow year so very few cars in parking lot, likely few rooms rented, so QUIET.  Well, quiet except for the room heater that sounds like an 18 wheeler idling.  Unplugged it, got a little cool in the room, but problem solved.
Had to run the sink water "forever" to get it warm, so this year, this place is "unAmerican", politically incorrect as to water waste in drought.  Took shower later, do not know it it was already warm 'cause its close to heater or if other guests drew the hot water closer to me.
The breakfast was equal to the best included breakfast I have had anywhere in the world in hundreds of hotels.  Dry cereals, muffins, breads and beagles, real butter, jellies, waffle irons, fresh yellow banana and more fresh fruit, canned peach for cereal, drink dispenser w/apple, orange and cranberry.  My $44 room (plus $12 taxes) was inexpensive when breakfasts like that are included.
They had no problem granting me the requested extra hour "late checkout".
For a last minute "deal", I was really happy, would stay here again in "a heartbeat".

This is a great little Inn with a wonderful owner, Mike. What an amazing representative of hospitality he is!  He was extremely accommodating, understanding, and available. He is pleasant to interact with and resolves any issues or answers any questions quickly. The desk clerk was also very kind and offered tips on the area and things to do and see. The property and the room were exceptionally clean and well kept. It had a comfy bed and great linen with a large bath tub. Our floor had a community kitchen and the property had a hot tub, swimming pool, and even a small chapel! It is walking distance to Stateline including the casinos and Heavenly. The casino's have recently added concert venues so another plus and something to add to your summer get away. There is also free wi-fi and breakfast!

If you are going to South Lake Tahoe and want a great room at a great price - call here first!
