My family has stayed here every year since I was 4. I don't know if it rents to non-timeshare owners, but if you are in Tahoe for more than a weekend, this is an excellent place to stay. Beach and Ski has a cottage feel with resort amenities. It's right on the beach and next to the marina area, so you never need to drive. There are shuttles to the casinos and a cab back is about $6 if it's after the shuttle stops running. The beach has snow in most winters and in the summer you can rent those giant wheel things that you paddle through the water right next to the resort. Each unit is excellently maintained with a full kitchen and jacuzzi tub in most. There is a full gym, with a sauna and a nice rec room with pool and a big-screen TV/couches. The Tahoe Queen leaves from a dock behind the place.

Feels weird to stay here. It's not fancy schmancy. It's like a hotel, but it's not. There are toilettries, but there's only maid service once every few days. There's a great hot tub, but you freeze your ass off because the place has no robes for you to wear. There's no wireless in the rooms, but there's shared connection in the lobby. It's in between a hotel and your own rental.

It is conveniently located between the casinos and South Lake Tahoe resorts. The hot tub is well maintained. I wish there was a vent in the mini kitchens. I really dreaded the stanky food fumes in all my clothes.

My stay there was alright. Nothing to rave about really. I recommend it for convenience.

I really enjoyed my stay here.  We had a suite and they were newly renovated. It seems like they are putting a lot of work into making this place nicer.  It's definately a family environment and caters to it.  The beach is near by and so is the dock for para-sailing, the tahoe queen, kayaking and jet-skiing.  They had BBQ's all over the property. Its also about a mile from the stateline and has a bike path to bike or walk on.  Our family had a blast and I would reccomend this place 100%

Did a timeshare trade and stayed here for a few days.  Hallways smelled very musty, but luckily the room didn't.  Room was well-furnished, had everything we needed.  The toilet did keep running and seemed to randomly flush, so we wrote a maintenance request.

Hot tub was nice and was right outside our door.  Hardly anyone staying there, so didn't really see or hear anyone.

    Met our needs.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and just realized that we never gave it a Yelp rating... Our weeklong stay at our 1-bedroom, 2-bath was great. (We also had a jacuzzi tub in the room, which was heavenly!) The folks at the front desk were very nice and gave us some great destination recommendations -- very handy, since it was our first visit to Tahoe.

The Otter's parents are in some kind of timeshare consortium and let us stay here for a couple days as their guests. Awesome Otter Parents and it is not their fault that we had a little... incident.

When we checked in, I pointed to a sign above the front desk that said something along the lines of, "Rude language, shouting, profanity or other verbal abuse towards any member of the staff shall be grounds for immediate ejection from the premises." Why would you have a sign like that? Seemed odd. Shrug. Anyway, we got our room key and trundled off to our room.

    I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.

So. We use our electric hotel key and walk into our room. "That's odd," says I. "Someone left some paperwork on the counter...and there's a jacket on the chair... huh.... and.. a purse on the couch..." All of a sudden I realize we're standing in someone else's room. They gave us a key to a room that was ALREADY OCCUPIED. I could have just reached down and stolen that purse. Or, if I were a  homicidal maniac, waited in the room and surprised the occupants and cut them into little pieces. OR, they could have been in the room, seen people walking in and SHOT US DEAD. What would I do if someone bumbled into my room after I'd had half a bottle of bourbon and I was in the habit of keeping a 9mm under the pillow? Well, I wouldn't shoot them, but there are people who would, without thinking twice!

Of course, I immediately wanted to go back to the lobby and verbally abuse the staff, but then we would have been "ejected from the premises" and have nowhere to stay. I looked to my better half, man of infinite patience, to resolve our Key Krisis:. "Honey, you are going to have to deal with this situation, because I am too angry." He has the temperament of a saint, this man (he'd have to, he's dating me). He went back and calmly explained the situation to the manager, who did not care at all. He just said "oh." and then gave the Otter a different key to a different room: "Try this one." Ummm, how many times per day do you give out the keys to rooms that are already occupied? Is there not some kind of system of checks and balances that prevents this sort of thing? And could you APOLOGIZE maybe?

Anyway, the "new" room did not have anyone staying in it and we had an otherwise pleasant couple of days but I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was about to walk into the room, having been given our room key by the front desk.

Now, here's my dilemma. Should I have gone back to the occupants of the room we got a key to and told them about this? I certainly wanted to! From my perspective, if I was staying at a hotel and the front desk gave some strangers a key to my room, I would want to know. On the other hand, since we just walked out of the room immediately and didn't touch there stuff, no harm resulted. So why create "unnecessary drama" by telling the occupants of the room about the mishap? Would love to get your thoughts on this, yelpers.

Got this as a last minute way to burn up RCI points (by the way, don't ever get a timeshare...but, that's a different review entirely). So, needless to say, we didn't have high expectations. And, I'm comfortable in a five star or a motel 6.

We needed internet to work, and it was down in our room. After the second day of calling the outsourced IT company, I personally gave the phone to the hotel staff who then finally gave us another room. Up until that point, the staff had assumed no ownership of the situation...just recommending that I call the IT company over and over.

So, we get a new room, and it has...this...smell. My girlfriend thinks it's a mix of cigarettes, coffee, and neutralizer. At least the internet worked. We've been here several days, and the smell is still here.

If you have to pay, it would probably be better to do some additional research.

Oh, and we had our change stolen at the laundromat. Nice touch!

Ok, this place has really cute rooms and pretty good amenities, not to mention, it's got their own private beach and a pretty great location.  That's about it.

Upon checking in, you're handed a packet full of rules!  Anyway, we walk to our room through a musty hallway into a nicely decorated room.  It's like cabin chic.  That's where we ran into a handful of problems.  First off, the toilet would not stop running!  I had to jiggle the handle to get it to stop and every once in a while, the toilet would kick on cause the tank had a leak. (Second night, we just kept the bathroom door shut cause it was so loud.)

Second, the walls here are paper thin.  I mean, you hear EVERY SINGLE THING.  The bf and I took a nap the second day only to be woken up with our neighbors having sex.  Ick.  Also, on top of that, there is no air conditioning!  There's just a large floor fan.  And if you're a smoker, you literally have this designated spot, that looks slightly like a covered bus stop.  I mean, really?  The pool and hot tub is well maintained but it closes at 10.  And free wifi.

All in all, the staff is friendly, I'd stay here again if I wanted to hear my neighbors upstairs stomping around or to hear them have sex.

I am giving this place 2 stars more for the benefit of others reading, than anything else. I am actually extremely easy to please when it comes to lodging. If I pay big bucks, than ill expect something worthwhile, but otherwise give me a clean bed and im pretty much set.

With that said, a friends family has a time share here, so there I am strictly rating on if I would go back here. NO! The rooms are decent, It has a nice location, jacuzzi...but you can find all that at a cheap hotel down the road. Ann L. nailed it when she said THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN HERE! I actually came here to write that exact statement. A baby starts crying in the room next to us at 2am...I could have sworn he was in the same room as us. Every morning you will be woken up by the maid service being noisy in the halls - or maybe they arent being noisy...either way you can hear they clear as day.

If you are a light sleeper, you will be miserable in this place!

We just returned from a 3 night stay over NYE at the TBSC - we were 4 adults in two sep rooms in the Bliss building (a newly renovated building). The rooms were great, large, very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The staff were incredibly helpful with suggestions of what to do and helped with reservations and discounts. This is a very busy time of the year in Tahoe so the tips on where to rent snow shoes, snow mobiles etc were most welcome. Patrick and Kristen at the front desk were super nice.
The only real downside which was actually a big deal was the lack of internet/wifi in the rooms - and very very slow coverage in the lobby.  If you are planning on working while in Tahoe I would double think booking to stay here BUT if you are on holidays and want a place right on the lake that is walking distance from casinos and ski-lifts (1.1 miles),  this place is great value, with helpful and pleasant staff who make the difference.

    B.Y.O.P (Bring your own pillow!)

This resort was similar to staying at Motel 6 in Beverly Hills as far as room amenities. We stayed in a one bedroom suite from 11/26-12/3. The bed and sheets are very D-List and the pillows were an epic fail! The hallways are musty but the room didn't have any mustiness.  We stayed on the first floor.

We were right next door to the outdoor spa, which in 40 degrees weather is fabulous and probably the best part of the resort. We sneaked in red wine (in plastic cups of course). There is another pool and spa on the beach side of the resort but we never tried it.

There is one building facing the lake (only about 16 suites we think). We can't comment on the view from the rooms but standing outside on the beach provided a beautiful view. However, in 40 degree weather and 20 mile winds, it was way too cold to sit outside and enjoy it. I reserved only 30 days in advance so it was very unlikely I would get a view. We stayed in the Richardson building which overlooked a grassy outdoor area (better than a parking lot).

I called the resort a few weeks before checking in to get the "low down." I let the receptionist know when I would be there and that I had never been to Tahoe before. I asked if she had any ideas/input for things to do. She didn't have much...I told her I was interested in skiing and she let me know that the resort had a free shuttle and discount lift tickets to Heavenly Resort (which is just 3 minutes away).  I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and let the front desk know I was interested in Skiing. Not only was there barely enough snow (which I should have known considering how early it was in the season) but the worst news was that the resorts doesn't provide shuttle service or discount ski lift tickets until after mid-December.  This is understandable, except for the fact that I had called and they told me they would have had them. If they wouldn't have said that, I could have bought lift tickets in advance from Heavenly's website (they snail mail the tickets).  It was hit or miss with the desk staff. They were all very friendly but not all very informative. One day we called asking for a restaurant with a view of the lake and got a recommendation (with coupons) for a place with a view of some boats in the marina.  We called the next day and got an amazing recommendation for our favorite restaurant of the week, The Beacon Bar and Grill. It was right on the lake and had an amazing view with yummy food. We had the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl and the Surf and Turf baby greens salad.

They had daily activities. We attended the orientation which was not great. There were three vendors that provided okay coupons (ie 10% off, BOGO, etc) but definitely not any "VIP offers."  We also attended the wine tasting with a great group of 8 other guests by the Apres Wine Co. She was a great and informative hostess. The cost was $10 a person and we tasted 4 wines (depends on the number of attendees)

Perhaps because we were in between seasons (summer/fall vs. winter) many amenities in South Lake Tahoe were closed. If your are planning a trip the best time to ski/snowboard is January and February. Other than that you have to pray for snow and prayer is not enough to plan an entire vacation around.

In response to other people reviews:
I can't comment on the noisiness because we overheard to resort was under-booked so maybe we didn't have anyone above or below us. We didn't see a sign about rudeness to staff and we didn't get handed a book of rules. We accidentally broke a wine glass but we didn't get charged. The WIFI was a tiny bit slow but free and totally worked. We even watched online movies from netflix without a problem.

Check out my other reviews for restaurants we visited while here.

This place falls way short of expectations.
To begin with, the management is unexperinced and unresponsive,   My way or the highway attitude.   Internet is constantly down, but who cares, not the management there, thats for sure.   Then, you are acosted by "owners" who are peddling this doomsday story of a big company taking over.  Even if you are resting on the beach, you'll be bothered, and again, the management does nothing.
What a waist, the location is great.   But there are other places with great locations nearby.   My suggestion: get a professional manager, one with hotel management background, not a bean counter with no guest service experience.
I would not recommend this place.  For the money, there are plenty of better buys.
    Sorry.

We just returned from spending 3 days at this hotel.  Our experience was less than stellar.  The room itself was okay.  It was a one bedroom, which I must say was huge, and a living/dining area and a "full kitchen." (don't be fooled by the name.)  It had a full-sized smallish frig, a tiny sink, no dishwasher, OR OVEN, and hardly any counter space!  Just a little toaster oven and a 2 burner hot plate.  Trying to actually prepare a meal in there was nearly impossible due to the scant offering of bowls, plates etc.

But my biggest gripe, was that we used their spa.  I wore my sterling necklace, and ring, as did my husband, and they they turned black.  When I reported this to the front desk, I was rudely told that I should have known not to wear them in the spa.  We just returned from a trip to Hawaii, where I wore the same jewelry in their spa every day with no problem!  The rude woman at the front desk, said I could speak with a supervisor.  The supervisor could clearly hear us speaking because she said, she was busy, and essentially couldn't be bothered.  So much for customer service.  I was only requesting they pay to have my jewelry cleaned.  The next morning, I realized that my bathing suit was ruined because the chemicals in the spa had completely faded the colors.  I knew better than to complain to the management there, knowing they care nothing about their customers and their concerns.

It is obvious by their enormous manual that they are complete control freaks, with rules out the wazoo, and a charge for every small mishap.  While this may be a place to lay your head, it has a nasty vibe, and I concur with others in saying that the wi-fi here is horrid.  I too spent time on the phone with their outsourced IT company.  It helped for about an hour, after which I was once again booted off the system.  I was even having trouble getting my mail to download on my iPhone!!?????

I'm giving it a 2 star only because it was relatively clean, aside from the carpets and everything, aside from the wi-fi, worked.

We stayed here recently and really enjoyed the resort as well as our friends who we booked another room for.  The spa and pool were nice.  They had a room with some activities for the whole family which we enjoyed very much.  The rooms were decorated nicely and had great furniture.  The beds were comfy in both rooms and the pillows were actually great!  I really loved the tub in our room with the jets!  That was a very nice addition.

The walls are a litle thin and you can hear sounds throughout the night but my hubby and I are heavy sleepers and it didn't bother us the only reason I noticed is because I had to get up every few hours with our baby and thats when I noticed the noises.

The full kitchen could use some mixing bowls but other than that they had lots of the stuff you need for cooking.  The only thing is that I don't recommend cooking bacon or smelly stuff in there because we did and it stunk the rest of the trip.  We kept opening our balcony sliding glass door to get rid of the smell and it just wouldn't go away...  I'm not really sure why.

The staff was friendly to us and they don't charge for extra towels through out the week like some other resorts do.  I can't stand it when you have to pay for extra towels so this was a plus!

This would be a great place to come back to in the summer months since they are right on the beach!!!

We will definitely be coming again!

We upgraded to a one bedroom after seeing the "studio". My husband and I would have been divorced if we tried to live in one room for a week! We got a beautiful view with a huge balcony, room 5200, of Lake Tahoe.

I loved all the ammenites....everything you needed were in the kitchen and the bathroom. We got maid service middle of the week!!!! Lots of other timeshares I have been to have NO maid service and you pay for them to clean your room afterwards.

We called to have the in room jacuzzi fixed, there was a bit of noise coming from it and the jets didn't work, they were up in our room right away and took care of it.

The front reception were very friendly and helpful....really made me feel good immediately.

Great workout room with a heated sauna. Beautiful hot tub with a view of the lake, very clean.

The walls are paper thin....that is why I won't give it 5 stars but thankfully, we didn't have way noisey neighbors.

I would definetly come back and stay here. No pressure time share with mid-week maid service. Well stocked kitchen and yes, bring your own pillows. Too big and hard for me but I already know to always bring my own pillows! Free Wi-Fi. Get a 1 bedroom if you are going to stay a week!

We just got back in town from visiting South Lake Tahoe after staying in Tahoe Beach & Ski Club.  This was the first time we stayed at this resort and we were pleasantly surprised how nice the place was.  The staff were all nice and gave us the run down of what was going on in town that weekend.  We rented the 2 story townhouse and there was way more than enough room for the hubby and I and baby.  Downstairs they had a flat screen tv, queen sized sofa bed, full bathroom, and kitchenette with all the pots, utensils, etc.  The spiral staircase led us upstairs to another fully furnished room with king sized bed, tv, and full bathroom with jetted tub.  I soaked in there for over an hour and didn't even want to come out!  We even had a balcony unstairs which we did use to get fresh air and soak up the views and sounds.    Out on the resort grounds there are picnic benches and bbq grills for customers to use.  Location is great, right next door to Chevron and after that is the marina with beach access and the Riva Grill.  Will definitely return.

We checked in here for a 2 night stay through our time share. We liked the facilities but since we're not staying for a week, they charged us a $66 cleaning fee! What the heck is that about? Isn't a hotel suppose to clean your rooms. I found the charges to be ridiculous.

I came here on a timeshare exchange and unfortunately had a studio which was ridicules. The partial kitchen is made way too big and you feel like you sleep in the kitchen because your bed is next to it....and the flat screen TV is so small you cannot watch it from the bed....DONT TAKE THE STUDIO!!!.......also if you can DONT AGREE TO TAKE A FIRST FLOOR UNIT because it is so loud and annoying to hear people walk upstairs it is unbearable. So....why am I giving it 4 stars? Hmmmm.....because we called the help desk and asked if we could upgrade our unit to a one bedroom on the second floor and we did :). The one bedroom ended up being 28 dols a day more and it was SO WORTH IT. Spacious, clean, well equipped and just plain nice upstairs unit in building 2. No noise from others walking above :). Great location too...close to Safeway, CVS and walking distance to few not so bad bars/restaurants, and on the lake allowing you to take a nice walk. Fantastic location!!. However, I am puzzled why even one bedroom doesn't have a regular stove or even a portable electric rings on which you could cook. The kitchen areas are pretty big and the fridge is oversized considering the fact that you cannot cook.....so this is why my experience has only 4 stars. Gret, helpful and friendly front desk staff, decent fitness room with saunas and a spacious, but a bit dated activity room.

My parents have owned at this timeshare for 30 years and have probably used the place less than 10 times. You would think they would be a little more hospitable and allow me to use their amenities as stated when my parents bought into their scam back in the 80's. Last year, I tried to park there so that I could see the July 4th fireworks and they told me that I could not- only my parents could.

Property taxes and assessments go up faster than inflation. Hospitality is sub par but that could be from poor leadership.

I don't post on Yelp, I read yelp. But in this case when you are supposed to "own" something, you should expect better service.

The units are nice, though, but for a place that is supposed to offer hospitality, they lack.

Awesome location for summer! One bedroom generously equipped with kitchenette and supplies. Very clean bathroom (although I wish it had the jacuzzi tub), nice front porch and small kitchen table. Check in was easy and pleasant, they even gave us a late check out and let us hang out on the beach even after our check out time. Nice tennis facility and they will loan you all the equipment, but you have to book time on the court beforehand. Jacuzzi was pretty dirty so we didn't stay in there long. Just a few steps away from the beach where we spent most of our time laying out. There are a few gas grills around the beach that are stocked with everything you need, the charcoal grills you have to bring your own stuff. Highly recommend for a summertime visit! Will definitely come again!

This was one of the best deals I got to stay in Lake Tahoe. I found this via Trip Advisor, I believe. The photos don't do justice to the place. This "resort" is located right by the lake, and Lake Tahoe Blvd. We rented a studio, it was cozy, comfortable, and nice. Few complaints though: The view is not terrific, and the walls/ceiling are not noise-proof. The cleaning doesn't happen everyday either, but hey when you are in Lake Tahoe you're not going to be in the room for long. I highly recommend this place.

I think Rick Rose is the owner and he is extremely nice, communicative. This place is a mile away from heavenly village, gondolas, hiking parks, etc. Tons of restaurants around it as well.

What a nice facility.  The staff is very passionate about the location and the parking.  We stayed in units that were remodeled and they were very nice.  I love the shallow beach and swimming pool.  My family really enjoyed our stay and we re-booked for next year.

It is awesome having a full bar and pizza joint on property as well...

This was my first time staying here and I have to say I am very pleased with the rooms.  I heard they have been remodeled and they did a decent job.  I remodel a lot of my rental apartment units so this was pretty decent on the mid to upper middle range.  No stoves which is a bummer, but I guess they don't want anyone to burn down the building.  We stayed in a 1 bdr suite, which consists of a living area with dining set jammed against a wall and a small kitchen.  This room also has a full bath with shower and a patio door leading out to a patio and the parking lot.  The bedroom has a full bath with a Jacuzzi tub which was a bonus for soaking after a day of skiing.  Each room has it's own flat screen tv and dvd player which is nice.

We were in building 3 which I believe is the Chapparel building and it was cool that it was near the parking lot so that you could pull your car right up to your patio, if your on the first floor like us and unload your stuff into your room.  We were in 3104 actually.  The down side is that it's close to cars which means noise in the morning and basically no view of anything interesting.  The front desk staff was nice enough also.  There weren't any type of restaurant or bar on site, not even an exercise room.  The Jacuzzis were a short distance from the room , but not very appealing nor was the pool.  It's close to the beach which I imagine is good in Summer but useless in January.  Overall I would stay here again if my other favored accomodations are too pricey or not available. 3 1/2 stars overall

Great stay for the price. Very friendly staff. Newly renovated rooms with kitchenettes. While our one-bedroom unit did not have a stove, a toaster oven and complimentary hot-plate made breakfast each morning easy. The bathrooms are nicely done and the air bubble tubs in the master bath are a nice touch. We loved the heated pool and enjoyed the private beach with a great view. The grounds are well kept and clean. Our unit was on the bottom floor, and we never heard a sound from surrounding rooms (not too busy during our stay). The location is fantastic, about a half mile from the casinos and shopping, with plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Not a single complaint. We will be back again and again.

The one bedroom was spacious enough for our group especially with 2 full bathrooms and a kitchenette. Loved the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. The whole room looked recently renovated. The queen bed was very comfy.

I'm sad I didn't get to check out the rec room and sauna but I heard they were nice. Loved how close this place was relative to Heavenly and the other casino/hotels.

The Tahoe Beach and Ski Club is near the edge of South Lake Tahoe and not too far from the downtown or casino area.  They have several buildings spread out with lots of room options from studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms.  The rooms have kitchens or partial kitchens with at least a refrigerator, microwave, and stove top.  The rooms are clean and somewhat updated.  Their exercise room is pretty basic but has enough and probably there won't be many people in there to begin with.  They also have a pool table and foosball table and pools, hot tubs, and sauna.

the location is great.  close to the casinos, close to ski run, close to 2 grocery stores, etc... the place was clean.  all the amenities were clean.  the staff was friendly and nice.  stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with a partial kitchen which included a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and a fridge.  not a full size fridge, but definitely not a mini fridge.  very roomy.  big bedroom and 2 large bathrooms!  stayed a week and was very satisfied with our stay.

amendment: i couldn't believe how loud housekeeping was. they started before 9 am. they were yelling down the hall and when they were cleaning the unit above us, it was unbearably loud.
