The Schnitzel is amazing! I love finding unique places. Apparently this place has been here since 1893. Cool spot if you love old historical places like I do.

I wanted to love this place... in spite of itself. In the right hands, this would be an AMAZING, historic hotel. BUT...

Management doesn't seem to want to be in the hospitality industry. A month ago, I used their web contact form to request a reservation and got an e-mail response that I didn't follow up on. (I should have.) On the day I arrived they had no reservation. No biggie, I'm ready to accept the adventure of making a reservation on the spot (considering that the whole hotel was available). BUT...

Later I overheard the owner snidely telling a couple people that I "only gave them one day notice."  Nevermind that it isn't true, but given that she runs a(n empty) hotel and there are rooms available... I think a patron is a patron and it isn't hard to be polite. Also... she was put out about giving me a room with air conditioning because she wouldn't be able to sleep in it...?

They've got the marketing right. But the website and its pictures don't accurately portray the state of the building or your experience. The hallway and common areas are like a third world country hostel with junk everywhere, and the painted walls are peeling like a horror movie. To top it off, my room didn't have a lock beyond that standard little interior bathroom doorknob lock and the wifi was unreliable.

I hope the owners will sell this beautiful, old place to someone who wants to run a hotel.

On a positive note: the location is awesome. A delicious pizza place and neat antique store are across the park just south of the building. Perfect to walk to.

This was our first time there for the fish fry Friday. We found that the food was good. For all you can eat I felt pushed and they did not want to give you more fish than they tought you needed. The service was average and nothing to write home about.
