River Spruce in Estes Park, CO

River Spruce Cabins are a family owned business that is open year round.  We have 8 cabins along the Big Thompson River that were built anywhere from 1920 to 1960.  All the cabins have full kicthens and baths, some have private hot tubs and gas stove fireplaces.  All have private fire pits in front by the river to enjoy on cool mountain nights.  We deliver fresh baked goods to your door every morning except Sunday and have become quite popular for our goodies alone.  Each cabin is tastefully updated without ruining the cabin charm.  We like to call it rustic elegance and we'd love to have you come experience it for yourself.

Established in 1940.

River Spruce Cabins have had three owners that we know of since 1940.  The Sykes-Powers family has owned it now for the last five years.  The cabins were build anywhere from 1920 to 1960 and the earlier ones were moved to this location from Rocky Mountain National Park.  We have kept the cabins as much intact with period charm as possible and added modern comforts such as private hot tubs outside, gas stove fireplaces, kicthens and baths.

Best cabin EVER!!! Had the most wonderful time! Extremely clean and cozy. All the things you could possibly want. I highly recommend ones with a hot tub. We can't wait for our next trip there!!

Stayed here for a long weekend in the TomTom cabin. Wow, right on the river, seriously, you can fish from the deck. Hot tub on the deck overlooking the river. It's perfect!

There is a gas stove that heats the cottage, a bedroom, a stocked kitchen. Outside the cabin there is a shared grill and firepit and they sell wood for your convenience. We fished in the trout-stocked river (catch and release).

The owners are very nice and keep the place super maintained and clean. They bring you fresh baked muffins in the morning, and make you feel right at home.

You like wildlife? Well you have elk and wild turkey to get you started. Minutes away from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

The place really is just gorgeous and a perfect place to get away for the weekend.

Warning;    they have an unpublished 30 day cancellation policy and run you
card the second you reserve, so you not getting a cent back at cancellation.
I had family get sick in Denver and had to return quickly, so went in person
and in writing got a cancellation early the morning before arrival time.
Nothing back she said, very poor customer service and poor attitude
toward clients.  Its all about the money....Stay far away.

My sister found this gem of a place on a weekend stay with her husband.  We came back for our father's annual birthday trip.  The kids and I stayed in one cabin, my sister & her husband in another, and my father & step-mother in another.  All three of the cabins were right on the river.  What a prime location!

Wendye and Shelley were the most amazing hosts as well.  They are super friendly and always walking by with a friendly greeting.  The morning muffins (a different flavor every day) were an extra special bonus.  Heavenly!!!!!  At night, the kids and I would watch a movie from their large DVD collection.

The cabins are immaculate.  They're in a prime location.  The service is impeccable.  I would highly recommend staying here.  I know we'll be back next year with the family!

River Spruce in Latin translates to........Simply Wonderful. I picked this location out of a hat. It turned out to be the greatest place on earth. Upon arrival (in the dark) the front door was open and soft lights on. Jim welcomed us. He walked us personally down a path to our cottage and gave us the run thru. Absolutely the nicest and most kind person I have ever met.

The cottage was well lit inside, warm, and CLEAN. This place was in perfect order. The caretakers live directly on site and are available at any hour for any need u should have. Each cottage is nine steps from the rivers edge. Amazing is the only way to put it.

My wife and I felt as if we have been missing out on this GEM all these years. Jim had perfect suggestion for places to eat and things to do in town

We will be back very soon as this will become our new habit

P.S. The daily morning bread/muffins are priceless. Such a great and tasty personal touch.  OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
