    My wife and I stayed here with our three kids in the summer of 2008.  While there was nothing fancy about the room as other reviewers have suggested, the location was great.  It's right at the end of the main drive through Estes Park, so you can easily walk to all of the main shops and restaurants in Estes Park.  It sits on the banks of the Fall River, which is a wonderful location for a picnic lunch, and it's a short drive to either Trail Ridge Road or Rocky Mountain National Park.  I highly recommend it.

    This place was easy to get to from Denver airport.  What I liked most about it was that we could park the car and just walk downtown to tour the city.  There were not many places like that.  The beds were not the most comfortable but I did like the rustic feel of the place and the bubbling brook just outside of our room.  I would totally stay here again.

    After deciding The Stanley Hotel was not what we were looking for, we made an exhaustive search of nearby accommodations. Trust me, this place is among the best. Nothing fancy (the rooms have VCRs!) but clean, quiet and affordable. In the main office you can borrow a VHS tape for the evening, a board game or a book. They even offer a breakfast cart there in the morning with prepackaged snacks as well as coffee and bottled water and juice. The location is great!

    This is a FANTASTIC place to stay in Estes Park! We have stayed here yearly for the last 5 years we've visited Estes and I cannot believe we have never reviewed it before. First of all, the staff may be the nicest staff of any hotel at which we have ever stayed. Adam, the general manager, is very knowledgeable about Estes and the Rocky Mountain National Park and is very willing to help recommend activities and restaurants. The rooms themselves are nice and extremely clean. They are nothing TOO fancy, but when you are in the middle of the Rocky Mountains, you shouldn't be spending a whole lot of time in the room anyway! The location is another big plus. With the hotel located within about 15 yards from the Fall River, it is a vacation in itself just being there and sitting along the river in one of the many chairs or benches located on the property. It is also only a block and a half from the downtown area so you do not have to fight for parking to walk and shop. As far as amenities, they have free breakfast with packaged rolls, pop tarts, oatmeal, bagels, muffins and juice. It is always enough to tide us and our teenage kids over until lunch time. There is also an endless supply of bottled water for the high altitude hikes and activities. On days where you don't want to eat out, you can grill your own meals on one of the four gas grills supplied by the hotel then eat it along the river on the picnic tables also there. We have stayed at one other hotel in Estes and, even though it was nice, we will never stay anywhere else in Estes again!!

    DISCLAIMER: I do not have a family.

    The Good:
     :: the location. it's literally around the corner from the downtown Estes Park area. it's also right next door to the outdoor arena for small-scale live performances. you are also very close to all kinds of things: restaurants, shops, shuttle stops, lake estes, safeway, the stanley hotel, and so much more
     :: very friendly front-desk people
     :: the rooms use environmentally-friendly lightbulbs
     :: free bbq grills (both charcoal and gas) for use!!! bonus!!!
     :: free firepits for use!!! you only have to provide the firewood. they sell it at the front desk for only $3 a bundle
     :: free coffee, hot cocoa, and bottled water all day in the back snack room
     :: free daily paper
     :: kept very very clean
     :: RIGHT next to the river. it's awesome...open up your windows and you can fall asleep to the river gushing by. wonderful!!!
     :: microwave and mini fridge in room
     :: window in the bathroom that can actually open. this is very important if you know what i am talking about.
     :: plenty of free parking. there is the primary parking and overflow parking.
     :: onsite laundry facilities...you pay to use, coin-operated
     :: plenty of outdoor seating, benches, tables, swings right by the water to enjoy yourself

    The Bad:
     :: this is not a place for couples. there are a LOT of families here and if you are not a family like me, you will be miserable. the kids ran up and down the stairs EARLY IN THE MORNING and all around the levels. they sounded like elephants. ugh...
     :: the bed. it was not very comfortable at all...in fact, it felt like the bed was sagging in the middle. the pillows were not comfortable, either. bleagh.
     :: the free breakfast is not very good. just basics that were full of high fructose corn syrup...bleagh.
     :: it would be nice if they had hammocks outside. just saying!

    The Ugly:
     :: none.

    Would I go back? Probably not...until I have a family.

    This place is IN (for families).

    Great place with a great location.  Our patio on the river was perfect for a morning coffee and an evening cocktail. Short drive up Hwy 34 to Rocky Mountain National Park and an easy walk into downtown Estes Park for shopping and ice cream.

    Room was very clean.  Seemed almost brand new. Everyone at the front desk was fantanstic.

    One minor complaint was that the Wi-Fi was a little spotty from our room.

    It was more money than we are accustomed to spending but I'll spend it again to stay there the next time we visit.

    Excellent, charming hotel at the West end of downtown Estes Park.  The staff was very helpful and accommodating in moving me from their sister hotel across town so that I could be with the large group that I had traveled to Estes Park to be with.
    Everything was clean, the snacks and breakfast were sufficient for the price and the location just could not be more enjoyable.
    Will definitely stay here the next time that I come to Estes Park.

    Beautiful place with good prices. Rooms are good and the fireplace is awesome. You have to make your own fire but they supply the wood, paper and matches. This place is located on a stream. It is also really close to Rocky Mountain National Park. The front desk service was great. A guy named John helped us and he was very professional and polite. You can walk to the downtown area from the Inn. Great place!

    Our 5-day stay at Silver Moon was awesome!!  We had a nice room that felt like a little apartment w a river view!  They accommodated a pack-n play and it fit perfect btw queen beds.  The cont breakfast area in the office was great!  We were able to get yogurts and milk, etc when needed.  Coffee was plentiful and other snacks as well.  The staff are so helpful and nice!  They were always willing to give good tips (maps) or info to make your day. My kids loved the pool and hot tubs.  I got in once and water was perfect not too cold.  Loved the swings and fire pits.  Said we would cook out one nite but next time for sure.  Did do marshmallows ask the office and they will supply them w skewers, dont even need crackers.  Oh, cant forget Mr Elk (14-point) who we first saw in town eating flowers at main entrance to Estes Pk, but he visited again our hotel eating their bushes.  So friendly and calm and BIG!  We look forward to going back one day!

    It was a little expensive for my taste, 1 king bed; 1 room cost $190. That's why its only 4 stars, other than that the location was great and the room was clean. Its located only about a couple blocks from downtown. If you have the money to stay here the location is worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful on where to go around town too.

    The best hotel in Estes, in fact maybe even in Colorado. Colleen at the front desk made this trip for our family one to remember. What a great employee, this girl deserves a HUGE raise! She found us the most perfect room with everything we asked for!!

    Love this place!! Right on the river. Playground for the kids. Super friendly staff. Free firewood and marshmallows at night. Damn near perfection. All within a 2 min walk of downtown.

    Our family of five stayed at the Silver Moon Inn for one night on a trip from Minnesota to southern Colorado. Absolutely loved this hotel. It is exactly what you dream of when you think of a mountain town hotel. Right on the river with adirondack chairs, bonfire pits, and even a little playground for the kids. Walking distance to all the Estes Park shops and restaurants.

    We arrived late, and the front desk clerk was so accommodating. He called a local restaurant, and put in a to-go order for us before they closed the kitchen. Additionally, he helped us carry our luggage up the stairs (since there is no elevator).

    Rooms were updated & spacious. Outdoor pool and hot tubs were well kept (& kids enjoyed them thoroughly). In the AM, they had an array of breads, donuts, yogurt, juice, fruit, coffee, etc...  We were all set to head to Rocky Mountain National Park (10 min away) after filling up on breakfast!

    We tried to stay another night, but they were sadly booked (I see why).

    Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Estes Park. And, would highly recommend to others.

    I don't understand what all the hype is about. The best thing about this place is the location. It's within walking distance to downtown where all the shops are. Our room smelled musty and moldy. The in-room refrigerator clanked and banged all night until we had to unplug it. The toiletries aren't even their own - they're a mishmash of other hotels' toiletries. The bathroom was indeed clean though - nice tiled floors and shower surround. There's no room on the sink vanity - so you have to store your stuff in the kitchenette on the stove top right outside the bathroom door. We could also hear all the partying going on a couple of doors down from ours. We had reservations for two nights but we checked out after one.

    This place is absolutely fantastic! The rooms are clean and a fine size. Staff is friendly. It's right on the river and has a playground, pool, benches, and campfire areas. It is a little pricey, but honestly, you get what you pay for. Not to mention this place is right next to downtown. Seriously, probably a one minute walk and you're right there in all the shops and restaurants. Only thing I'd even think to complain about is that the wifi can be a bit shaky, but who wants to be on their phones and computers and tablets constantly when they're in such a beautiful place, anyway?

    One thing I feel I need to mention: If you're looking for a more secluded, intimate getaway in the mountains, this is not your place. Kinda touristy since it's so close to town, families are pretty frequent, too. Head farther up in the mountains if you're in the mood for romance.

    This is a good as it gets for us in Estes Park.  We are diehard fans who return again and again.  Clean and restful rooms.  Fabulously friendly staff.  Terrific location with a river right there, firepits, hightops, laundry, and breakfast.  Walkability to eateries and shops can't be beat.

    Perfect place to stay in Estes Park! The Inn itself is in the perfect location, within walking distance from all of the "downtown" shops and restaurants and on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park. It really doesn't get much better!

    The front desk staff is friendly, helpful and can answer just about any question you have. The rooms are clean, newly decorated, and have some character. The breakfast is decent-mostly a combo of carbs and some fruit-but it comes with the room, so no complaints.My husband and I have only visited in the winter, so I can't fully speak to the grounds, but they are on a creek that I can imagine is gorgeous in the summer.

    If you're in Estes, don't hesitate to stop in for a great room at a reasonable price that is also pet friendly (at no additional charge).

    August 2013: Beautiful location ... right on a free-flowing creek that could have been classified as a small river.  Rooms were pretty spacious as well.

    I would have rated (4) stars if we were not awaken the next morning by a City Worker at (06:00 AM) using his very noisy leaf blower .... followed by "noisey" 08:00 AM maid service traffic (walking in front of our room) at the property... the complimentary breakfast offerings was marginal ......for $186.00 a night I expected better.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is ideal for easy walking access to the main downtown shop area. The staff at the inn were so hospitable and friendly. The river/stream that runs parallel to the hotel is charming and very well maintained with firepits for some late night ambience. We would definitely stay here again!

    I travel 60 to 80 days a year for business purposes and I enjoy properties like this one as a getaway from the redundancies that I encounter at most chain properties.
    We recently completed our second stay at this property in as many years.  Our first visit was just a few weeks prior to the flood that hit several communities in September of 2013.

    During our first visit to the town, we noticed this property as we were exploring and particularly noticed that the Fall River flows right along the southern edge of the property.  They also had several seating areas with fire pits, patio swings, a gazebo and grills.  The hotel itself consists of a 3-story building with about 8 to 10 units on each floor and a newer 2-story building just on the other side of the pool that contains 8 units.  The property is on the western edge of town where you are away from all the busyness of the tourist spots, and yet you are just a few minutes walk away from it all as well.  It's perfect for going into town for food and shopping as well as being located just a few miles from RMNP's north entrance without any stop lights interrupting the drive.

    Both of our stays were in rooms with a fireplace (gas switch) and a pretty comfortable sofa that contains a hideaway.  The carpet was new, the bedsheets and the bed itself were sufficient, the bathroom was very clean with floors and shower walls tiled.  Toiletries were standard non-hotel-branded and were pretty good in quality.  The room also contained a closet that's pretty large for a hotel as well as a nice fridge/microwave/coffee area.  The room also included a standard chair with ottoman and a small round table (that we essentially used to store things).  We also had our own patio outside of our room with 2 chairs and small table that was literally 6 steps from the Fall River's banks.  All in all, the room was cozy, rustic (with the artwork and knitwork on the walls) and we felt very comfortable in there.  We kept both the front window as well as the bathroom window open the entire stay to enjoy the fresh air provided on the mountainside.

    The property also has a heated pool, along with 2 above-ground jacuzzis to enjoy.  Our favorite activity at the hotel has to be the nighttime campfires with s'mores (on request, I believe).  The staff brought out firewood, graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows for us to enjoy in the evenings right next to the riverbank.  The property had a small playground for the kids to play on, but it was damaged by the September 2013 flood.  At the time of this review, the owner was mentioning that they have been actively searching for a new one to replace it with.

    I do want to stress to fellow business travelers who may have expectations of hot breakfasts with quite an abundant selection of food offerings, you will need to adjust your expectations to what this property intends to provide.  They have a fridge that provides some juices, milk and bottled water.  It also contained hard-boiled eggs and yogurt containers.  Coffee was provided, as well as packaged pastries  - such as donuts and danishes, along with a few cereals and fruits.  If you prefer a hot breakfast, there are a handful of diners in the area I'd encourage you to check out.  As for us, we were quite content with the breakfast as it provided more than enough for our kids and it got us off to an essential start to the day.

    The reason we chose to return - and the reason we will return again - is that the owners and employees have done their best (and succeeded) at making us feel welcome to their property.  I've seen them in the office/breakfast area socializing with guests, working around the property and helping build campfires for guests.  They do so much to make us feel like this is a home away from home.  And for us, we feel like we're receiving a great service while contributing to a family business.

    Whether you sit by the river and read a book or relax in the room while listening to the sound of the river outside your window, this location is one that I encourage others to patronize.

    I came to Estes park for the Stanley film fest. This hotel exceeded my expectations, it is a 5 minute walk into town so the location is perfect. The room itself was great too, it came with a mini fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. And the scenery was just beautiful from the balcony right outside your room. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

    My girlfriend and I stayed here a single night right after the new year. The location is fantastic, parking is easy, friendly staff, and the place is really nice with the recent remodel. A clean room includes a refrigerator and microwave, plenty of space to put your clothes, and a super comfy bed to rest your head on at the end of the day. Also a huge plus, very reasonably priced! I will never need to stay anywhere else in Estes Park, this place is simple and great.

    My husband, my 2 boys, and myself stayed here Tuesday March 17th.  We were traveling through Colorado, and Estes Park is my favorite.
    This place was awesome! We stayed on the bottom floor right next to the creek.  We had our own patio, and a fire pit next to the creek.  Gave us a feel of camping.  Not only was there a fire pit, but they GAVE us all the fixings for smores!!! Best thing EVER!! My boys (13 & 8) we beyond excited!!
    The rooms were very very nice!! Beds were very comfortable! Bathrooms were huge, towels were soft.
    We had a nice gas fire place in our room, that kept us toasty after roasting marshmallows. We are from Phoenix so we are HUGE wimps ;)
    Now, the staff was wonderful! Went we first checked in we had an issue with the TV (clearly we were just dumb). The guy came right down (seconds after calling) and fixed it!! They also gave is recommendations on where to get a good steak!

    It was perfect, quite, full of wildlife (saw about 5 deer across the creek, big score for my 8 year old!!)
    Great for families and couples!! We will stay there every time we come through!!
