We are on a road trip around eastern Utah and decided to visit Grand Junction, CO.  Based on the review I read we decided to stay at the Clarion Inn.  Our room had one queen bed with the typical tv, desk and chair.  It was nice to have a door to the outside so we could bring in the luggage without going through the hallways.  There was also a door into the hallway.  The bed was a little too hard for me but some people like them.  The swimming pool water was too cold and the hot tub water was really hot.  Tile was missing in the hot tub and there were cracks around the tile in the pool.  The room smelled as though it had been closed up for a long time.  The bathroom was adequate but could use more maintenance of the tile.  All in all, our room was sufficient for a one night stay but I would look elsewhere if we return to this area.

While en route from west coast to east coast, we had to stop somewhere in Colorado... Grand Junction is literally one of the few places on the map between Vegas and Denver, and the place knows it and sky rockets its prices up. After comparing prices and hotels extensively on Hotels.com , this place seemed the cheapest. We couldn't believe that we had also found one of the nicest and cleanest hotels in town for the price! The room was HUGE and SUPER CLEAN - with a window directly looking our car and a working air conditioner (a rarity in hotels, it seems)! Hotel key-access needed to get into the hotel itself, and quiet and clean hallways that lead you from your room to the banquet hall and the pools and the game room without ever having to go outside (also a bonus in the summer heat)! Pool tables, fooseball, and air hockey are all next to the COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST in the grand hall, which was not only extensive but surpassed most hotel cardboard foods they offer for breakfast. I can't speak toward the pools as I didn't use them, but they had an indoor AND outdoor pool. The totally got the weather thing figured out here!
For us, the best part of staying here was that the facility was pet friendly. The hotel is located right off the highway and is surrounded by tons of restaurants and other amenities. If I ever had to drive through Colorado again, I would go out of my way to stay here again.

STAY HERE! Great price, wonderful shower, the best beds, and a staff where EVERYONE asks after your comfort. As a bonus, Pantuso's Ristorante next door is fab!

I stayed here 5 Sept 12 & was very pleased with the friendly staff, the amazingly clean property & my lovely room at $98.  The front desk told me not to park under the trees & I failed to follow her advice.  DO not park under the trees, the birds are prolific with their waste.  This was so big I actually got lost finding the lobby.  Included typical breakfast was fine.  Pantuso's eatery next door served a much need house Chianti & a filling meal in a style I don't favor, but the service was excellent.

This was our third stay here believe it or not in the past year. Every time has been a great experience with the staff very friendly and helpful.

Very large hotel with a restaurant, separate bar/lounge, game room, two pools and hot tubs. The rooms are standard but there are some with doors right to the parking lot which makes it convenient for when we bring our cat in and luggage.

Each time the rate has been between $80-95 which is reasonable compared to what other hotels charge in the area.

Very family friendly and give this place a 10 stars if I could.

A 3 star hotel at 5 star value - spacious clean rooms, fully functional facilities and friendly, intelligently helpful staff. Apart from unsecured Wi-Fi and breakfast, while quite tasty was unacceptably less then warm - probably due to wishing to avoid guest litigation from serving too hot.

First stay.  Middle of the road hotel.  Good for sports teams. Full breakfast, commons area for meetings and heated pool just works.

Pros- cheap, quiet, two pools, clean, friendly staff, free breakfast, micro, fridge, free wifi, nice shower.

Cons- older, noisy clicking fan in room, they ran out of chocolate cake, blender was broke so no frozen drinks, no mountain dew, juice machine broke at breakfast so no juice, wifi signal is weak.

All in all very nice. We probably caught them on a bad day......no chocolate cake!?

We would stay again.

Great value! Passing through Grand Junction on our way to Vegas, this was a great find. Located right off the highway, close to gas and close to restaurants if you need them.

The room was clean and nice. Typical road side motel, so not a lot of bells and whistles. They only had a room with two double beds, but we made due.

Soft towels, and lots of them; toiletries were ok, but they had the basics, plus mouth wash (love my hotel toiletries!). The room was equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker and lots of coffee supplies including glass coffee mugs.

The hotel was big, and had a great courtyard area that had a pool, hot tub and recreation area where you could play pool, foosball and air hockey-so great if your traveling with kids that need to burn some energy. Complimentary coffee and a large tea selection was available in the lobby, which was nice. There is also a small gym and business center, but we didn't use either.

Complimentary breakfast is served in the same courtyard area and it was really good. Lots of the typical stuff (waffles, yogurt, cereal), but also eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Good coffee and nice staff.

I was hesitant to stay here because from the outside it looks like an office building or something, but really glad I chose this place over the Motel 6 or Super 8. The price is only about $10 more and this is a really excellent hotel for the price. Pool, hot tub, nice italian restaurant, great breakfast. I doubt the hotels in town that are twice as much are as good as the Clarion. You can tell the owners and staff really care about creating a nice hotel.

The layout of the holtel is for sure older but very nice rooms, great indoor and out door pools and over we had a very nice stay. The room we had was a very cool location within the hotel. Our back door opened up to a veranda tha included an indoor pool, pool tables seating and access to everything within the place. The front door to our room was fight next tot he door to the parking pot. I feel this type pf design maybe very old school but this place has been upgraded to modern standards and  I was very happy with Clarion. The staff , very helpful and I watched one of them get the third degree from sme upset lady and never once did that gentleman lose control or even get upset, well done. I think was at the bar and one to many, but he managed to get things worked out, job well done.  Price was better than other lodging, I felt for the price we  payed it was a very good deal. Parking was easy and very close to very bnice resturants and the center of GJ.

We spent one night at the Clarion as we were driving through Grand Junction on a road trip. The desk staff were friendly and got us a room very quickly.

I had never stayed at a Clarion before. I was impressed with the indoor pool and hot tub, meeting facilities and breakfast area. The breakfast had a lot of different food available. It started at 6am, and we arrived shortly after 6. There were a number of people who were already eating. It was obvious that the food was ready in plenty of time for people to begin eating at 6.

Our stay was nice and the room was clean. The problem was that I forgot our ice chest in the room. I called twice and they said it could not be found in the room or the lost and found. Be sure not to leave anything because you will never see it again.

Why does someone stay at a Hotel? Well besides a midnight rendezvous!

To sleep - right - so it's all about the bed, and the beds at this Clarion are HORRIBLE!

How bad is HORRIBLE? Let me tell you! How's this - so you are kneeing on the bed, and your kneecap gets the impression from the coil spring in the mattress - hum.
So maybe you are pushing yourself up with you hand in a clinched fist position and your hand goes right into the middle of a bed spring coil? No joke! That is exactly what happened. The layer of padding covering the springs was vary thin as you could easily feel the outline of the springs with you hand.

To top it off the service was not the best. We got a room that smelled like cigarette smoke, we moved to a different room were the front desk then checked the same room out to someone else.
So I am sitting on the bed in nothing but my underwear and in walks a woman and her husband - I said Hi! She was mortified! My wife was in the shower - lol, funny but really not cool!

I traveled for business so much over the years that I have had staff walk in on me etc. but I really felt bad for that poor woman to see this bear sitting on the bed - hehehe.

There were some other feature of the Hotel that were kind of nice, it was a very large place with two pools and two Jacuzzis. The Jacuzzi I was in was missing some of the tiles but it was not really noticeable. Although the place was old, it seemed otherwise to be well cared for and clean. It had large rooms for conferences, weddings, pool tables and more.

So it your not here for the beds, and you need place for large numbers and parties this might be a go!
But if you here for the bed, save a few buck and take a room at Motel 6 - the beds are better! Generally speaking that is...

Great room. Nice staff. The pools and hot tub were clean and fun. We will definitely stay again when we pass through. Only word of warning-steer clear of the adjoining Italian restaurant- terrible service and the food was pretty bad, we should have just ordered pizza.

The worst stay of my life and I have been in hotels around the country as a flight attendant. A refrigerated truck ran all night long outside our window, walls paper thin, and the beds are horrific. Kelly at the front desk was gracious enough to extend our checkout to 1pm. Only plus.

Friendly staff and clean establishment. They are pet friendly too, unlike the Hilton Express and Courtyard Marriott in Grand Junction, CO...get with the times dorks.

Let's be honest, it's not diamond star, but it's clean, safe and you'll get a good nights sleep. Personally, I love to stay at mid budget hotels because honestly you really don't get more for the money, you just pay more.

If I find myself driving across the country again, I'll stay here again for sure.

Oh, did I mention they are pet friendly, unlike the other hotels located nearby.

It more than served it's purpose for our time there. With an indoor/outdoor pool, the kids had a blast. There was a free shuttle that would take you wherever you needed to go within 5 miles. Amazing staff from front desk to room stewards. Standouts- Pink eye shadowed girl who worked the complimentary continental breakfast and Ike, our waiter from the restaurant. Tasty dinners. Good job guys!

PS Get more waffle makers!

I paid $63 on Priceline for a room here, including fees. The room itself was alright, definitely not as nice as the Doubletree I booked a night before, next to the SLC airport for $10 less, but that was a really great value in a different market to be fair.

So why 1 star? People were chatting outside my window on the sidewalk of the hotel around 10:30pm for a while and people were having loud sex in the room next door.

1 star for the hotel or 1 star for humanity. You decide.

update: I did change rooms and it was as quiet as a hotel room should be, but the new room did not have a mini-fridge. A hotel room not having a fridge wouldn't normally bother me, but I decided to get food earlier with the intention of refrigerating my leftovers. The room-to-room inconsistency murdered my takeout.

If I were to ignore the mini-fridge crisis and the loud noises, I would have rated them 3/5. Okay room and clean. Nothing special, nothing horrible.

+1 star because 1/5 seems mean.

Pleasantly surprised, finding this place using Yelp. Average but clean, well equipped room with a fridge and microwave.
The price was the clincher - 75 bucks!
I've had nicer beds and pillows but not at this price.
Best part? Don't miss the Italian restaurant Pantuso.
