a place with a more "traditional" (old new england) look. no florida "flash". tiny bar...4 chairs..., but bar area has adequate seating. very comfortable atmosphere and service very prompt. this is not a place to bring the family, especially yonger kids. the menu is limited to 5/6 entrees and items are in the @25/ 30 range. rack of lamb was cooked as requested and served with mashed potatoes that were very good as very the "crispy" grren beans that accompanied. imported beer is very limited, the wine list is good and you can likely find one that will satisfy. great choice for a leisurely night out for a couple, that "special" dinner or when you want tp spoil yourself. (no discover card taken).

A nice old Florida style lodge.  Very friendly service, reasonable prices, and clean, nicely decorated rooms (I liked the Island House and the room with the terrace facing the ocean).  No phones in the room and if you need a hair dryer or iron ask the person in the office when you check in.  Wifi is only available in the front of the main building.

One of the finest restaurants on Pine Island.  Reasonable prices, incredible view and friendly, comfortable staff.  This is a must stop on Pine Island, even if it's just for a quick cocktail by the water.  You will very happy you dropped in and I dare say you'll be compelled to come back time and time again.  The crab bisque is delightful.  The lodging is Old Florida - classy but understated.  Don't miss, it's a weekly stop for us.

Gorgeous location.  A bit out of the way but worth it.  Food was delicious.  View was spectacular...especially at sunset.

The lodge itself is lovely and the food was woooonderful. Stayed here for a night with my family and found it clean, comfortable, and welcoming.  The location is gorgeous and the rooms are pretty.  There are lots of places to explore on the island and in the area as well, so it's a fun spot for outdoor types (I also heard that a lot of people go for fishing if you're into that- they have a nice dock where you can put your boat if you bring one).  Great location, great atmosphere, would certainly visit again if given the opportunity.

Great night with friends. Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. Wifes steak a bit overcooked byt doable, they made up for it with a glass of wine for two of us drinking wine. After we polished off a good bottle, they comped a glass each. Way to step up to keep things moving right! I am a fan!

Great place with a wonderful view!  Food is always awesome and service is great too.  Bar is small but a great place to gather and meet interesting people.

Take the water taxy down the road and also visit their restaurant on Cabbage Key!  You'll be glad you did.

The service at the restaurant was top-notch. We were extremely well taken care of, but also left alone to enjoy our meal. The food was simply wonderful. We ordered the brushetta, filet mignon, chicken and crab, and house salads with gorgonzola. Each item was expertly prepared and presented.

The grounds of the lodge are lovely: large lawn with a medium-sized pool, winding walking paths and a dock right on the water. Really beautiful.

The rooms are a bit dated, which makes sense given the overall "old Florida" vibe of the place. But, some items are pretty shabby.

All in all, it's a lovely place for a night, but unless you're bringing a boat, I wouldn't stay much longer.

After five years, we finally tried Tarpon Lodge last week.  We arrived early for the sunset, which is a must do.  Feels like Florida from the 40s, and that theme continued inside where they were playing WWII era music.  I felt like I was enjoying one last great meal prior to shipping out in the morning!  Speaking of the food, it was very good, but not quite as creative as other places we've tried (i.e., Table 209, Sweet Caper).  We shared several "small" plates and left way too full!  I enjoyed sitting at the small, hole-in-the wall bar before we were seated.  Easy place to recommend given the great combination of atmosphere and food.

Pine Island as its best.  Great for a upscale party, a drink after a day of sun and fishing with the gang, or a romantic dinner for two.

Awesome food, service, and atmosphere.   The best sunset in Pine Island ...

Had 6:00PM reservations and they were already out of three menu items.  THREE items out of about 14.  Disappointed, we tried the Grouper special for $30 and clams and shrimp over linguini in a saffron broth for $28.  Although the grouper was fresh and tasted good, the cold sweet potato purée was just not enough for a side dish.  Salad was not included with our meals and honestly, even with the bronzed shrimp appetizer we shared, we left there hungry.  My husbands dinner was less than fair.  Steamed clams in a broth with a few shrimp lacked appeal and flavor.  We opted not to have dessert as we were not impressed for the $120 spent.  (We also had a bottle of wine).  Would we return?  Probably not.  Would we recommend?  Maybe, for the sunset... just eat before you go.

Recently went on a Saturday evening. When we arrived we were seated immediately and had a beautiful spot near the window and the view to the water. It was too hot to sit outside on the covered patio.
Our waitress greeted us and then we ordered some wine. The Dr Pauly reisling they have is very nice and not too sweet. The other couple enjoyed their Santa Julia malbec bottle of  wine for $30. They had a nice list of reds and whites. It is not extensive but someone did a great job selecting the right ones.
The bread was hot and there was a nice dipping sauce with it. We ordered the blue crab and roasted corn chowder. It was delicious. The crab meat was abundant and we enjoyed it immensely.
The grouper which was the catch of the day was ordered for the main course, crabmeat tortellini, and shrimp and crab fettuccini. The grouper came with string beans and mash potatoes and was well presented. The shrimp and crab dish had plenty of both along with red peppers, onions and spinach. But if you don't like red peppers for example they will leave them out. Chef was very accomodating with these things. I loved the sauce that came with the fettuccini dish as it was not thick and heavy. There was so much of the food that I took about half of it home to enjoy for dinner the next night. Everyone commented on how delicious their meal was.
There was no room for dessert but they sounded delicious. Most of the entrees are between lower $20 's to the most expensive filet for $35. The catch of the day is around $30. They have specials and you just have to ask the prices. You can add a salad to your entree for about $4.
The service was outstanding. Our waitress took care of our every needs from pouring the wine to answering our questions and bringing more bread and water without us asking.
The setting is beautiful. I can imagine a wedding at this place with the beautiful view of the water and the sunset. The grounds were very nicely kept.
Definitely on my list to go again some evening. It is a very peaceful and serene area at the end of a long winding road. Would highly recommend for a romantic dinner. Pine Island treasure!

Love the atmosphere in the historic old time Florida estate w the dark glossy wood floor n huge fireplace in cozy bar. Adore the white tablecloths in main dining. Appreciate you can eat out in open air or inside and enjoy music of a smooth jazz variety or bluegrass or piano or mandolins ... This is a professionally run high quality restaurant w prices that compare very well with other gastro eateries. Made for date night, friends w music and cocktails or a cool beer on porch. Enough about the beauty n ambiance and musical entertainment. This divine lodge offers a well thought menu and ALL the preparations are creative, exacting and served in a well paced manner by gracious n friendly professional staff w my personal favorite, Frankie!!!
Food is seafood and prime steaks at their best! We enjoyed an amazing blue crab and corn chowder as starter.. Served with dipping bread and preceded by a chilled martini. We enjoyed fresh ingredients as the Caesar salad arrived w our wine, parm shavings w authentic flavors. Bronzed shrimp was exceptional n delicate. Filet mignon on mash w green beans best on Pine island!! Variety surprising sauces and clean flavors will ensure a return visit as well as the music guests or great cd dinner music ala Frank or Perry. Two visits so far but we just love this place as it feels like our own personal hideaway w mellow vibe..

Fantastic food and excellent staff.

We did not get reservations the night we went and we were pleasantly surprised that they could actually seat us.
There were 4 of us and we were seated on the patio.  The views are great.

One of our guests had the Hamburger.  He is a very picky eater and I have never heard him give a burger 9 1/2 to 10 star rating.  The burger was cooked to perfection. Did I mention it to be a 8 ounce burger. He also had the french fries which again were cooked to a nice crisp outside.  Not a drop of grease on the plate.

My friend and I had the sea scallops..  I cant even begin to tell you how perfectly they were cooked.  The scallops were fresh that day and if you know anything about fresh seafood you will know that fresh seafood does not smell..  This was as fresh as it gets.  I have been to many a restaurant that serves scallops and find that most of the time they are over cooked.  NOT here.  Scallops should be served rare to medium rare if fresh.  That's exactly what we received and the meal was hot.  The scallops had no brown color of them, which is what you will get when they are pan fried and cooked too long.

My mother had the large dinner salad with Shrimp.  There were so many shrimp on her salad that she could not eat them all.  The salad dressings are all made from scratch and the flavors are excellent.

They were having a wine tasting the night we were there and I must admit the gentleman that was in charge of the wine tasting was very knowledgeable about the wines he was serving.  We spoke about my varieties of wine and he was very open to his clients opinions.  I really enjoyed the tastings and decided to purchase a glass for my dinner.

Service          5 stars
Food              5 stars
Cleanliness   5 stars
Ambiance     4 1/2 stars  (Mostly due to the table arrangements on the patio)

We enjoyed lunch here recently and found it to be a perfect experience.  The food was very good (we both had the delicious Pine Island salad) and the view just cannot be beat, but the service put it over the top!  Very nice waiter with just the right amount of attendance and humor and attention to detail that we left feeling like we had won the lottery.  Now, if we could just win the lottery...

The Tarpon Lodge is serene and right on the water...breath-taking sunsets. We have stayed here the last two years for Thanksgiving dinner. It's appropriately priced and the food is great.

The rooms themselves aren't anything memorable. The owners could utilize the space better by providing more shelving and storage space. The bathroom had a pedestal sink with no where to place your toiletries. Yes, it had a small medicine cabinet, but not ample enough for a family. The shower had a very inexpensive shower curtain. This is a destination lodge and upgrades could improve the character of the rooms.

There was only one thermostat in the entire building for all of the rooms. We ended up freezing the first couple of nights because we couldn't find the thermostat and then one of the workers insisted he surveyed the other guests in the building and told us their rooms were comfortable. We felt this wasn't entirely truthful since my in-laws were at the other end of the building and their room was cold as well.

Overall, a nice place to stay and is off the beaten path of chain-type of hotels.

The tarpon never fails me. We've been eating there since it opened. Service is next top notch. Surroundings are second to none other in the area. Food is always a cut above. The best sunset of any where around. The hostess is more than accommodating.

Enjoy a water view from the veranda of this "old Florida" lodge, with big slow fans hanging from the blue ceiling. View and atmosphere are the main objectives here but food is also very good. We tried the fish tacos (got the top raves from our table) and a salad with mangos and apples ( dressing was a bit heavy). Key lime pie served the right way- with chilled plate and fork.

Atmosphere, million dollar sunset views, superb service.....if Hemingway didn't eat here....his loss.   Looks like a place he would have frequented. Did I forget to say the food was great too?

A bit out of the way, but certainly worth the drive.

Cute little place with a great history.  Great place to watch the sunset.  While prices might seem high for apps and dinner, portions are generous.  My friend and I had wine and we shared two apps and that was enough food for us.

The last delicious bite of civilization.

That's how I remember this place. It was the last stop for lunch before I ventured off into a horribly misguided camping adventure at Cayo Costa State Park (more to come on that later) and according to Yelp, it seemed like the only decent place to eat on the island.

I came to kill an hour and enjoy a burger before departing on a ferry from a nearby port. Coming in, I noticed an atmosphere that screamed a cozy and classy B&B.

I was seated immediately and looked around the dark-toned restaurant. It's a really nice place to sit, relax, have a nice conversation / date and most of all: enjoy great food.

I ordered the burger from their lunch menu and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It was served with fries and coleslaw. The burger was tender, juicy, perfectly cooked to order served on a high quality artisan-bun. The coleslaw that accompanied it was fresh with a tinge of celery which I found a nice touch.

We got some tea and espresso and to relax with afterward and spent some time on the iPad just killing time. I wasn't hurried along or anything, despite coming in with a party of two and my partner just ordering some tea (she wasn't hungry).

If I'm ever back in the area, I'd love to come back and enjoy a full dinner here.

The place is off a winding road so makes you feel really secluded in a good way. We got there and our waiter encouraged us to get our drinks and head to the dock to watch the sunset. It was absolutely beautiful then we went back to our table on the porch to finish our meal and we were all happy. Crab tortellini was the star and my other friends got the shrimp and crab pasta and the clam and shrimp pasta. Would've gone for dessert but we're too full! Would go back for a romantic evening or maybe even stay.
