Established in 1992.

Mr. B. J. Donnelly was born in Springfield, MA in 1867 and lived most of his life in Swampscott, MA, near Boston.  He acquired a vast fortune through ownership in marble, granite and stone quarries in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  His estimated wealth in 1928 was over six million dollars.
In 1929 Donnelly contracted the famous architectural firm of Kiehnel & Elliot from Miami to design a winter residence in Daytona Beach resembling a Spanish villa.  Kiehnel and Elliot were instrumental in designing El Jardin, the Carlyle, Barclay, and Shorecrest Hotels, and the Scottish Rite Temple in Miami, and the master plan for Rollins College in Winter Park.  Here in Daytona they designed the Princess Issena Hotel.  Ted Paulson, who also built the Princess Issena, did the construction of Donnelly's house.

So when we stayed here there was no one else there so we were able to see all the rooms and it is not worth it to stay there if you aren't staying in the king room, go big or go home, right? It is a fun experience and way more intriguing to talk about than staying at just another average resort or hotel around Daytona

My husband and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary at The Villa Inn Bed and Breakfast in October.  This is the second time we celebrated our anniversary here. This year we stayed in the Christopher Columbus room.  we really enjoyed this room. It looked as if we were actually settlers that had just arrived to the new country. The room offers a small balcony with the table that looks out over the pool area.
The pool and pool area was very enjoyable. Jim, the owner stopped over and asked if we needed anything, several times. We could not have asked for a better innkeeper
The continental breakfast in the morning was light and refreshing.
We highly recommend staying here if you are going to visit the Daytona Beach area. This place is one-of-a-kind and we will definitely be back to visit again.
