The Hotel was very nice. I stayed overnight on 4/29/02 as I was getting on the Allure of the Seas on Sunday. BUT  DO NOT EAT IN THE RESTAURANT !!! I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM EATING CHICKEN LAST SATURDAY.  Because of this I was unable to enjoy my cruise.

I had to wait an hour for the shuttle which never came. I called 4 times, and was told it was 5 minutes away each time. Saw it drive by and not stop for me, called, another one is 5 minutes away I was told. Called, put on hold 8 minutes. Finally, after an hour, tool a cab, it was 10 minute ride. If they had told me they couldn't come for me at first, instead of be right there, I could have gotten a much better nights sleep. As it was, my plane landed 2.5 hours late, so this on top of that really sucked.
Rooms are very nice, staff seems to need some training.
No one seemed to care about my plight at all.

I like this hotel!  Modern & chic!  It smell great when you walk in the lobby and the hallway.

The only thing I don't like is the parking fee.  Kind of rid-off!

The amenities are great and the room feels like home!

My spouse and I had no problems checking in at 4pm yesterday. My brother, his family and my 84 year old parents had a horrible experience at 10:40pm. I arrived with my video camera to greet them in the lobby. Instead of filming happy faces, they were told by the front desk man that they had to stay in the Best Western down the street without compensation. He lied saying the room had a technical glitch. But they had 2, not 1 room. Both rooms had a glitch?  Because I was filming it and pointed it at him, he spontaneously said, "Oh I have the wrong Hongs."  Hello there are not many Hongs in the world especially USA. And they got their two rooms pronto. Smells like corruption to me. Sad because my spouse and I were treated so very well. I hope management rectifies things. I'd be more than happy to post the video on YouTube to show how amazing video can make unavailable rooms very available. Makes me nauseated.

Nice hotel!  Rooms are good sized, clean, modern and the beds are very comfy.  The shower is very good with wide spraying showerheads and plenty of large towels.  Restaurant is good too - when you check in they'll give you a coupon for a free drink at the bar in the restaurant and it is a good pour!  Check-in was a bit backed up but considering that tropical storm Isaac was about to check in to Ft. Lauderdale, they were doing a very good job keeping up with everything.  I definitely would stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at this Crowne Plaza.  We were on the last night of a 10 day vacation, and had to crash in Ft. Lauderdale to catch a flight the next day.  The hotel is beautiful, and the service was outstanding.  We arrived late, easily parked, and were greeted by *the* most friendly front desk person (I think her name might have been Melinda).  It was a true welcome.

The design of the hotel (interior) is gorgeous -- sea blues with beige.  This water based theme follows through to the rooms as well.  Everything was modern, calming, and welcoming.  Our room was spacious and very clean, and the hotel offered the respite we needed.

With a meal, the hotel offers free alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks with a lunch or dinner.  We could not take advantage of the deal, but did enjoy breakfast in the morning.  The breakfast was delicious, and servings far exceeded anyone's appetite!  There is a beautiful outdoor pool off the 5th floor, and our room had a view of the city and the pool.

    I highly recommend this hotel!

After a few days here in the Crowne Plaza you can really notice how consistently nice the staff is and how helpful they really , sincerely want to be. This is a wonderful spot to be before a cruise, and I recommend you stay a few days and enjoy some the local stuff too! I did and it is an easy way to make a 2 week cruise into a three week vacation. The stay in a good hotel is really worth it!

Wow! Wow is all I can say that accurately describes my visit. This Crown Plaza ROCKS and is conveniently located mins from FLL and Port Everglades (and free shuttle service from the airport!) Our family of 4 was cruising Sunday and on Saturday night we stayed here. The shuttle service was friendly and came right away. The hotel staff we met was extremely friendly upon arrival. Our room was AWESOME. Very roomy and looked exactly like the room pictured on their website (major plus). Good hotel for quick stays like ours...only 1 night before the cruise. Also, nice restaurant in the hotel. We liked the roof top pool area. 10 min drive (max) to the cruise port! Definitely staying here again next time we cruise out of Port Everglades!! Ps. Free wifi at the hotel!!! Major major plus!

Great Rates! Close to Cruise Terminals/Airport (with free shuttles).

Very Classy accommodations! Great beds! Contemporary decor! The hotel Restaurant/Bar is very well done, food is wonderful and they have a nice happy hour! Nice pool and outdoor area! Everything feels brand new!

Great Place to stay the day before your cruise, you can see the ships from the hotel!

This hotel is not close walking distance to much of anything, however it  is only a $8 cab ride to water taxi location (highly recommended)!

    Would Stay Again!!

    Thank You!!!

Called this place to see if we could check in early. No dice. I'm not upset about that but the man on the phone could have been courteous enough to listen and not cut me off everytime I tried to say something. Customer service issues first thing in the morning? Not cool. Hopefully this is not an indication of how our stay will be.

I stayed here one night a couple weeks ago and it is a very nice hotel. The room was spacious and very clean/neat. I didn't get a chance to check out the pool area but you can overlook it from the elevators and it is a decent size compared to some of the glorified bathtubs some hotels try and pass off as pools. Staff was super friendly and helpful also. The one thing that I wasn't clear on is that they said when I checked in that it was 10$ to park in their parking deck. Wth? You actually charge people staying in your hotel for parking? Nevertheless, when I checked out the girl assured me there was no charge and there was not. The only downside is that since it's right on the corner of route 1 and 84 it can be a little noisy. That didn't really matter though because I was within walking distance for some Anthony's coal fired pizza which is Awesome! I'd definitely stay here again.

Let's just say that I'm not a fan of writing poor reviews. However, if any hotel deserves one, it's the Crowne Plaza of Fort Lauderdale.

When we arrived at the hotel, it was a disaster. Folks queued for ages out the door. Took forever to get checked in.

First sign of trouble? The hallways are kept at 85 degrees...is this a cost savings initiative? Who knows.

Second sign of trouble: the key cards kept failing. Three times we had to have the key cards reprogrammed.

Third: there are no restaurants nearby, no cab stand, and the in-hotel restaurant is terrible. The bartender was nice but the food was average and very expensive. Also, the bar closed at 11PM.

Oh Crowne Plaza, you can do better,  you really can.

My best friend came into town last weekend and stayed here at Crowne Plaza. When I visted her at the hotel I was so pleased with how nice it really was. The decor was modern, yet simple. The rooms are super spacious and the bathrooms are brand spanking new. We went swimming at night in the pool located on the 5th(?) floor. The view is "ok" but I dont know why the put the pool on that side of the hotel. It would have been much cooler to swim with a back drop of downtown fort lauderdale. OH WELL, it was still fun!

The only negative is that guests and visitors have to pay for valet. The staff at the valet area are really nice, but there was not enough of them. The hotel needs to let people park their own cars or hire more people to do the job.

My family, parents and I stayed here the week before Thanksgiving before going on a cruise.
When we arrived, the front desk clerk said there was an issue with our rooms and we had to move to a sister property about a mile away. We had GUARANTEED late arrival and argued with this clerk for a few minutes.
My brother, who checked in earlier that day, came down to say hello. He was videotaping our trip and when the clerk saw this was on videotape, our room suddenly did not have the issue anymore. He said that the issue was with another family with the same surname (Hong). Yeah right.
The next morning I asked for the hotel manager. The front desk clerk asked if I could speak with the manager, but he said he was interviewing someone. Then the clerk asked how he could help and I explained the situation. The clerk went back to the manager again and suddenly there was no interview.
I discussed the situation with the manager and he said he would handle the situation. He gave us a complimentary shuttle to the cruise port for the "mix up." The manager personally promised to send me an e-mail to follow up with how he was going to address this situation with the clerk we had a problem.
Well, 3 months later, I have not heard back from the manager. But, my brother stayed at the hotel again last night and spoke with the same manager. Well, the manager lied to my brother by saying he sent me an e-mail. Then my brother asked what the manager did to address this employee. Basically, nothing happened.
While I realize the VAST majority of you had no issue with this hotel, I can honestly say there is no way in heck I am going to stay here again. I can't in good conscience stay at a hotel that is run by a manager who has lied to us and is unwilling to address unacceptable behavior to their customers.
But oddly enough, all the other employees I interacted with were exemplary. But I'm unwilling to take a chance again that this type of behavior would occur with my family or yours.

I needed a place to crash for 1 night after coming in on a redeye flight on Virgin America from Los Angeles before attending a 4 day/3 night conference in nearby Weston.  I didn't want to stay at Best Western and also didn't have the $$$$ for W hotel at Ft. Lauderdale beach.

I decided to go with Crowne Plaza Fort Lauderdale because it included a free shuttle ride from and to the airport.  Called the hotel at 6am from one of the free phones for hotels located in the baggage claim area.  They told me where to wait outside and was there to pick me up in about 10 minutes.

When I got to the hotel, it was too early to check in, but they told me they could lock up my bags in a secure closet and suggested I check back with them in a few hours.  Had a standard breakfast in their cafe.  Not the greatest, but pleasant service and convenient -- I was too tired to venture out at 6am in the humid Florida heat and it was also supposed to rain.

Checked back with the front desk around 8:30am and I lucked out that they already had a room ready for me!  The room had a fridge, microwave, tv and modern furnishings.

Had some time to kill before moving on to Weston, Florida the following day so I decided to venture out to the Galleria shopping center.  Concierge let me know what my transportation options were.  I took a taxi to the Galleria and took a bus back without any problem except for rain. The front desk workers are professional and helpful without any snootiness.

Overall, I'd say it's a pretty decent business hotel.  If I come back to Ft. Lauderdale, I'll probably stay here again.

Rapid check in and friendly staff. Everyone I encountered was great. Pool is open 24 hours so my daughter loved swimming late with no other swimmers. I could not find anywhere online about available shuttle through crowne plaza.  I even chatted online with someone through the main site who didn't even know.  I couldn't call because I was out of the country.  I made a reservation for a car rental.  Low and behold there was a crowne plaza shuttle. Advertise it on your site please! !!!!

So when we first got to this hotel I could tell it was old but recently remodeled. The rooms are decorated with a nice modern decor. But the bed is TERRIBLE!! It is so firm my back was killing me!!! Instead of NOT wanting to get out of bed I couldn't wait for it to be morning!! I don't care how nice the room looks or if the staff is friendly, it's all about how well did I sleep and was it clean.  I'm only giving 2 stars because the room was fairly clean. Oh, also don't eat at the restaurant inside the hotel! We read other reviews that it was something you wouldn't want to feed to your dog! Well, they were right!! We just got a key-lime pie and it was the strangest looking thing we've ever seen and it wasn't very good. The BATHROOM....let me just say I had to wear my sandals in the shower!! There was mold along the bottom and holes! Nope these feet are not touching that!! We chose this hotel because it was close to the port to go on a cruise the next day. Well, NEVER again will we come here unless they make some changes to their beds!!! Proceed at your own risk!

waited for their shuttle at the airport for an hour when they said it would be 10 minutes or less. it never did arrive and we finally took a taxi. They did reimburse us for the taxi, so I gave them one more star than I would have.

Used this room for a total of 7 hours as a 'day room' for my band and I to arrive into FLL from different cities at different times throughout the afternoon. Truly amazing shower with huge water pressure. A/C functioned as it should even though it was 93*F outside. The Chevron convenience store 1 block away was great for a Diet Mountain Dew and a bag of chips. The Anthony's Coal-Fired Pizza place 3 blocks away hit the spot. The pool area was clean, and beers from the gift shop were only $3. Fast free wi-fi, and quality linens with typical Crowne Plaza sleep amenities like aromatherapy pillow spray, ear plugs, eyemasks, etc.

Yes, I would probably avoid eating at the on-site restaurant, but if you use Yelp you should already know that.

This hotel feels like a brand-new property, and well-managed. They were steam-cleaning the seemingly-clean 6th-floor hallway carpets when I arrived, a sign of good management.

Nice pool area - all new, like the rest of the hotel. Easy parking. No complaints. If you're looking for a beach hotel, this ain't it. Far from it, actually. But, if you're looking for a great value and don't mind being across from car dealerships and a trucking yard, this is perfect. They even accommodated my early (10:15AM) check-in without even blinking.

Off-topic: remember to check out a Yelper's rating distribution when it comes to gauging their review. If they rarely write 5-star reviews, mentally add 1 or 2 stars to every one of their reviews :)

Stayed at this hotel for the day before leaving on a cruise on two occasions. For that purpose it was everything we could ask for! Close to the airport ($10 cab ride), close to the cruise terminal ($10 cab ride), clean rooms, on-site restaurant had good food. I would not stay here for more than one day though because there is nothing around this hotel...you have to take a cab if you want to go anywhere outside the hotel. We will certainly stay here again for a pre-cruise hotel.

Not a bad hotel. Prices are a bit high, rooms are nice. Staff is nice, bellhop would not accept a tip when he brought bags up, which I've never encountered before. That was strange.

Lovely accomodations for a good price, and importantly: free shuttle service to the airport. They have a pool (which was indisposed for maintenance) while we were there, as well as a fitness center, store for sundries and bar/cafe to boot. The service is actually rather good. When I needed tea for my possibly-influenza-plagued girlfriend after a cruise defined by excesses and little sleep, I was comped a few bags of Tazo by a nice young lady sweeping the sundries store. I enjoyed being in there that I went ahead and bought some very reasonably priced flip flops there too!
The toiletries are awesome (you can always count on an awesome experience if you are comped awesome toiletries!), the iPod deck (amplify your music and alarms while charging) actually works and the general location is great, about 2 miles from the ocean. Free wi-fi just for being a guest.
Bed is hard as a rock. Overall, very good value for money. LIke another review below mine said; avoid (paying for) their food. Seems to be one of the lesser values.

So I missed a flight connection and was going to be stuck in town for the night.  I'm a fan of IHG properties so I opened my IHG smartphone app and made a reservation here in about thirty seconds.  I jumped in an airport cab and was at the front door in ten minutes.

Don't you love technology!  Even though it had only been minutes, they had my reservation, noted I was Priority Club, upgraded me, and had my goodie bag ready.

The front desk staff was friendly and competent.  My room was huge and spotless.  It was very easy to adjust the room temperature. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed a nice quiet night's sleep.

The next morning I enjoyed a free airport shuttle with a super friendly driver.

I typically award Crowne Plazas four stars and this property was no exception.

Don't get their breakfast buffet- it's a complete rip off. $15.95 for an egg and a few pieces of fruit...makes sense right?!
The shuttle we thought was free was actually $8 dollars each. The gym was really old and all the machines look like they are from the mid 90s- and sound like it too. The staff was really friendly and the pool area was clean, but nothing really stood out to me about this hotel.

Maybe this is a good overnighter for a cruise but certainly not for a vacation or business trip.

    Rooms are small and dark.

Bar - always important to me - had a very good bartender but, like the rest of the place, is very dated.

    Dated as in 1970s.

Odd layout. Registration on an upper floor. Strange deck with a pretty bland southern view. Don't know it they serve on the deck but I saw no service in the 20 minutes that I sat out there.

Did not try the food but I had absolutely no inclination to do so.

Did not try the television - would expect reruns of Mork & Mindy, Taxi and Soap

Booked with hotels.com . Really soft beds. Ggwp.

Parking was easy. They have their own garage in the building. Self parking is $7 and I think valet is $10. That's pretty cheap considering other hotels in the area either don't have parking and force you to use valet for $25-30 or offer self-parking for that same price and valet for even more.

Haven't tried the food. The room is nice and clean. No complaints about the bathroom. Water pressure and temperature were nice.

If you need a place to stay and use as a home base, I recommend this Crowne. It's not by the beach nor does it offer a stunning view, or any nice view, but it's a comfortable place to stay for the price (we booked for $99/night. The best deal we found $/star).

Edit: the morning of our departure we received an invoice for a $110 charge including an $87 Accommodation fee, some other minor fees, and a $14 parking fee. The parking fee we saw coming, but the accommodation fee wasn't something we were aware of. When we asked the front desk, they said it was a mistake and immediately took it off and printed a new invoice for just the parking fee. Still, it worries me that if we had not asked them about it the charge would have remained on our credit card.
