The other reviews, both good and bad, are accurate.  My low rating is resultant of their delaying an adjacent outdoor wedding two hours because of weather, but not controlling the party that disrupted our terrace ceremony.  When I discussed this with a manager he said that the bride's mother would have to discuss it with the hotel's event associate.  Definitely *not* aggressive problem resolution.

I stayed here for one week to relax while my husband worked. We found out that they were doing construction on the oceanside of the hotel, so we requested an intercoastal view. Our room was on the 15th floor with a fabulous sunset view. The balcony was quite large and the room was very clean. The Baltimore Ravens were staying here for a football game the first day we arrived, so we could not get our room right away. The pool area was extremely chaotic this first day, but after the football fans left, the rest of the trip was peaceful.
The Cascades bar by the pool had great food, but as others mentioned, it is overpriced...expect to pay $14 for a salad or sandwich. They offered complimentary cookies by the towel area everyday around noon and 2pm, which was hard to turn down. For healthy fare, the tuna tartare and house salad were delicious from the Riva Cafe.
If you walk through the Yankee Clipper hotel, you'll see a walking/running trail. The trail can get pretty narrow at times, especially when large groups of people feel they don't have to move out of your way when your sprinting towards them. The gym was lovely, with televisions on every cardio machine (a requirement in my book), and spinning & yoga classes offered almost every morning.
Starbucks is in the lobby, which is where I got my yogurt breakfast every morning. Complimentary mojitos and desserts by the sous chef were sporadically offered in the hotel lobby...which was a nice touch. I accidentally left a few items behind after we checked out, but after calling the hotel to let them know, they fed-exed the items back to us at no extra charge. A fantastic experience overall and we would definitely stay here again.

The Spa at Harbor Beach Marriott is great, very professional staff and beautiful premise, would highly recommend for those of you who are located in Sobe to take the 20min drive up for a less pricier spa resort.  It was my first time at this spa and I was impressed by the spa facilities.  The one thing I was a little disappointed was the lack of fruit/snack spread - tea, and water, and nuts only.  Other than that, I had a great massage appointment and a relaxing time.

The best thing about this hotel is the location.  Nothing like walking out the back door of a hotel, taking a very short walk, and ending up on the beach.  The outdoor pool is also a nice setup.  The rooms were decent size, very modern, and of course very clean.  Loved the balcony overlooking the pool with a nice view of the ocean.

The downside is the price.  Thank God my wife got a discount through her job or there would be no way in hell I'd stay here, good location or not.  Yeah the room was nice, but not $450 nice.  And the nickel and diming the hotel does is too much.  As I had read from other reviews (not on Yelp) double check your final bill.  There will be mistakes and you can expect to be overcharged or double charged somewhere.  Glad we stayed here for our trip, but I'll look elsewhere if I ever return to Ft. Lauderdale.

I was here on a business trip.  Unfortunately, they cancelled my room and overbooked the rooms.  I ended up sharing a room with my co-worker.  The hotel was so-so, and the employees were just okay.  However, during the meetings, I was greeted by one worker in the back who treated me very well.  Everytime I saw him, he asked if I needed anything which made my stay a lot easier.  If I were to stay here again, they'll have to try harder to prove to me that this is a top notch hotel.

My family stayed here for 5 nights during a conference.  My daughter and I enjoyed playing on the beach and lounging in the hammocks on the beach during her morning naps.  The pool is a bit crowded with many lounge chairs/umbrellas but is very family friendly.  I must admit that in my single days I might have found the sheer number of children present annoying, but now I like that children are welcome.  They even had complimentary lemonade and cookies by the pool at 2:30 each day!

The food and drinks are, of course, horribly overpriced.  What do you expect, it is resort.

Our room was nice and very comfortable.  The bed was soft and had many comfy pillows.  I thought the decor was nice and not very tacky.  We also requested a crib for our daughter and a fridge for her milk.  Both were provided as promised and were in good shape.

Just a funny note.  My husband saw two bottles of Evian in the room and picked both up the read the labels.  He didn't pay attention to the fact that they were sitting on little sensors that charged us $5 for each bottle at checkout that we didn't even drink.  So beware, don't touch the Evian unless you would like to buy it :)

I would definately stay at this hotel again.  Very enjoyable!

Had Sunday brunch here and it was very very nice.  Good food, super friendly and very nice waitress. Ask for Teresa as your server SHE ROCKS - it was so refreshing to get such great service.  There was a nice variety of food for the brunch and you did not need to ask for anything - they kept our mimosas and water full.  the roast beef station was a little disappointing as it was cooked pretty much well done - nothing for us who like mid rare so that was the only negative.  The desserts were good, cold shrimp, crab legs were split so there was no work at all!  They validate your parking if you dine.  It was a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

Large property- looks good on the outside, but something seemed a bit off...can't figure out exactly what.  Oh yeah, could it have been that we couldn't enjoy anything about the city due to the tropical storm?  Pools, well, I saw them through the sideways rain....
Ocean, it was there through the fog....
Outdoor activities- not this week.

Overall, if you take away the fancy amenities, it's just a Marriott.  Bar selections (food and drink) were passable, and the room service was quick and as expected.  Did get walked in on when the room service guy came back to pick up the tray (even though the TV was on and I was obviously there)- not good.

We enjoyed our stay a lot.  We rented one of the cabanas by the pool and that worked out really well.  The fruit tray and free drinks hit the spot.  The beach is right there and there are several good restaurants in the area.  Definitely try out the water taxi one night....great fun.  Negatives are that the double beds were small and there was no frig in the room.  Otherwise, it was great and we'd go back.

Heaven. Mini little heaven.  We never stepped foot off the resort except for our one night into the mini downtown area, which was touristy and whatever. This is the only place I'll ever stay at while in FtL given its exceptional service, locationnnn, pools, and on site everything!! Go here and relax and forget about the rest of the world.

Great Hotel - clean rooms, beautiful lobby, private beach - no foot traffic or passers-by
Probably should have given 5 stars, but its not in close walking distance to shops and restaurants on the main strip.  (10 min. walk or $6-10 cab)  If renting a car, not an issue.  Great for families, but gets a lot of business traffic because of its large convention center.

Nice Restaurant in hotel, nice seafood and other entrees. about $40 / person + drinks

Best Parts - beach is very private and far enough from main Strip so no one strolls bye, only other hotel guests.  Nice lounge on deck with fire pits and couches overlooking beach.

Great workout Facility, large rooms with lots of machines and cardio equipment.  Also, the pool is very large and has some shade.  Large pool deck with towel service.

Been to many hotels in Ft. Lauderdale Beach, this one is the best for style, amenities, and private beach.   All of the other hotels in Ft. Lauderdale Beach area that compare with the Harbor Beach don't have a private beach.  You have to cross A1A to get to the public beach across the street.  (Ex. W Hotel, The Ritz, and other on the opposite end of town.)

Stayed here for a day before embarking on our cruise. Arrived on a red eye and was not expecting our rooms to be ready until check in time. It was a surprise that both our rooms were ready and they were connecting rooms.

The buffet breakfast was, as expected, expensive at $21, but considering an omelet and fruit bowl a la carte will cost you $22, the buffet is a better option. Definitely eases the conscience for those of us who don't eat bread, potatoes, overly sugared cereals and yogurts, and processed meats.

The beach is by far the best thing going for this hotel. Large, expansive with pristine white sand, there is plenty of room to lounge around without feeling like everyone else is on top of you. Want an umbrella? That'll cost you extra. Water temperature is perfect. You can walk straight into the water without the endless minutes of standing thigh deep contemplating making that big nipple-hardening jump.

The pool area is the exact opposite. Row upon row of chairs sit elbow to elbow. And that's if you can find a chair. The pool itself is chock full of people. If you're looking for a quiet spot to relax, the pool is not where you want to go. Contributing to the crowd is the fact that the hotel sells club membership to local residents which allows them use of the facilities. But if you love people watching, the pool can provide hours of nonstop entertainment. At regular intervals free snacks are served up, such as cookies and lemonade, and shots of Starbucks frapuccinos. But these go fast so make sure you're quick.

The "gym" is well equipped, for one in a hotel. Three things stood out for me. A barbell, with plenty of 45s for some serious deadlifting, though there was no squat rack. 2 Concept 2 rowers. And dumbells that go higher than the 50s usually found in hotels.

Nighttime is lovely around the grounds. There are many spaces to sit around outside to enjoy the mild night air. Unlike most resorts that light the public outdoor areas, it is dark here, due, I believe, to sea turtle conservation efforts. So some of the magical quality about a resort at night is lacking here.

Rooms are your standard Marriott. I found the pillows provided practically no support, but after having flown in on a red eye then spent all day out on the beach and pool, I had one of the best night's sleep in a long time.

We were immediately greeted by very helpful, the very friendly valet service. Check in was easy and our bellhop, William, was chatty in an engaging, unannoying way.

The hotel itself is just beautiful. The lobby and the rooms are very well appointed. I felt like the rooms were larger and more spacious than most other hotels I've stayed at. Especially the bathroom. I can't remember having ever stayed anywhere with a bathroom that large. All in all, the room was very clean, very comfortable and provided a lovely view of the Inter coastal Waterway (??) and the docked cruise ships. We prefer oceanfront views (which this hotel has), but we enjoyed it just the same. There is easy beach access - which we were only able to enjoy for a short period of time since it was very rainy.

I should probably do a full review on their on-site restaurant 3030 Ocean sometime soon, so I keep this part brief. Lousy service and obscenely overpriced, uninspired food. I've had better lobster bisque from Safeway. If we stay here again, we'll probably skip 3030 Ocean and try Riva - which was closed for a private event.

We enjoyed our stay here and if we're in Fort Lauderdale again, we'll probably stay here again.

This hotel was amazing. The service was spectacular. From the pool area, to the beach, to the room, everything was 5 stars in my book. The pool area gets really packed early. I recommend claiming lounge chairs early in the day or you will be left out. The Sea Level bar has an appetizer called Tomato and Basil that is excellent. Must try, just be patient with the bartenders. They are a bit slow. We had waiters serving us at the beach, a bit pricey, but for a special ocasion, well worth it. Self parking is very convenient. This hotel is located a few blocks from the ruckus of Beachplace, but offers a tranquil very chilled ambiance. Great for family and friends for that matter.

Nice location and our server was very attentive, never had to axe for more drinks. There were 12 ex Air Florida flight attendants holding court, all in their 50's looking like they were in their 40's. Mussels were excellent, as well all drinks actually had a punch.
Only 2 men were on hand to keep away the land sharks. We'll be back!

This place is cream of the crop for the location. The private beach is clean, the staff goes above and beyond to help in any way they can and they are absolutely kid friendly. We stayed here for 4 nights and can't wait to return. The pool area is also very clean and the waiters(es) are attentive and helpful. I honestly can not name a down side to this place except its $395 per night price tag - but you absolutely get what you pay for.

Beautiful property but other than the bartenders at the Sea Level we had issues with the staffing at may occasions - having said that and with the high ratings others have given and our past experiences this still is a place you should visit.  Great location on the beach off of A1A which gives you a sense of pace can calm and close enough to walk to the "strip" so to speak

This place has to be one of my all time best hotel/resorts I have stayed at. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were done very nicely, the lobby was inviting, the beach private and perfect, the pool area very relaxing and the food was delicious. The resort location  is set back from the boulevard so you don't even realize you are on South Beach until you venture off the resort property it's that peaceful and relaxing. I feel asleep every night with my balcony door open, the waives were crashing on the beach and the ocean breeze was just perfect for a restful night. Nice job Marriott... I plan to go back very soon!

1. Wi-fi - average.
2. Room quality - The room was nice, typical Marriott quality.
3. Service - I was really impressed with the service here. Richard at the front desk remembered my name after check-in which is the first time I think that's happened anywhere. The concierge desk had several people working and was able to help me quickly.
4. Location - great location on a private beach. More secluded and family oriented then the hotels on the strip down the road.
5. Food / Restaurants - I didn't eat in any of the restaurants although the catering at the meetings I was in was good.
6. Extras - I don't think I had to pay for parking which was nice, although I'd have to check my invoice to make sure. Huge pool and lounge area.

We recently stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriott for one night prior to leaving for a cruise the next day. Taking a red-eye from San Francisco, we were elated to find the front desk could accommodate us for an early check-in around 7am, even with no advance notice. They even did this while keeping my friend's room in close proximity even though he was arriving much later that day. We checked-in, changed and went promptly down to the restaurant for a $25 buffet breakfast which was quite deluxe - all the normal fixings like bacon, sausage, hash browns, cereal, granola, omelet & pancake station, but some pleasant surprises like mini quiches, lox, capers, great quality fresh fruit (no white honeydew and waterlogged cantaloupe here) and unlimited coffee and juices. The buffet was not cheap, so we stuffed up to get our money's worth and promptly went to the room to succumb to our food comas (read: take a power nap) before heading down to the pool.

Only one odd thing did happen in this time though, and that was the fire alarm strobe light went off in our room for no apparent reason. There was absolutely no siren or alarm sound, we were a little confused and ran to the hall to see if it was going off elsewhere. Puzzled, we just told the front desk on our way to the pool.

The pool area was very nice, with water dispensers and towel kiosk, and beach chairs with their very own orange waiter service flags. Happy hour at the 3030 Bar next to the pool was great - $3 beers and $4 wells. Nobody seemed to mind that we took our drinks over to one of the two hot tubs.

For $199, I felt the combined great service (from the restaurant to the bell desk and valet), hotel amenities, beach front real estate and proximity (short cab ride) to downtown Fort Lauderdale, FLL airport and Port Everglades, made this a good value and a better pick over the airport hotels not on the water.

Minus one star for the strict zero tolerance policy on late check-outs. I mean, come on! But thankfully we were not charged for lingering two hours later than we should have.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. The pool area is amazing (except for the millions of kids everywhere, but I guess that's what I get for going on vacation during Spring Break!) and the fitness center is gorgeous -- ocean and/or pool views from every machine. There is a bar right on the beach which is perfect for people watching. At night, 3030 Ocean is a beautiful choice for dining (try the edamame on the bar menu) and the bartenders were very friendly. Overall, this is one of the best resorts in Fort Lauderdale for the money.

I gave this 1 star because you had to give it a star!

Not sure where to start and quite honestly I'm just going to break it down in points versus giving this place any type of credit by writing up a long review.

-Forget getting a spot at the pool.  They allow guests to HOLD lounge chairs by the pool as early as 5am!  So if you get there by 6, there's no chairs available, but the pool is empty.
-As an Elite member, we were given free beach umbrella rentals.  The catch is, there are none available even as early as 6am.  Why?  Same reason as the POOL
-House"less"keeping (pretty self explanatory)
-Front desk guest service sometimes forget the "service" portion of their job.
-Poolside service does not allow for bar tabs.  You have to pay for every drink order.
-Unlike other Marriott's this one DOES NOT have a concierge lounge.  Please don't listen to the Marriott reservations desk when they tell you that all full-service marriott's have a concierge lounge.
-We stayed for 5nights; 3 paid and 2 on points.  Fortunately we did not have to switch rooms, but they messed up our final bill and I'm still waiting for that to be corrected - two months later!!!!

We wanted to try a different place in Florida but after this debacle, we're going back to the Hollywood Marriott next year.

Fantastic hotel! I would recommend it to anyone.

There's a serious upscale feel in this hotel from the moment you pull up to the front door. The service is incredible. The rooms are beautiful and spotless. The fitness center is top notch. The banquet halls were fine. The main restaurant is excellent, and the ocean side restaurant is fantastic!

The way this place is laid out, you almost get the feel that you're in a Caribbean resort. The hotel is directly on the beach, and the pool area is huge and beautiful.

If I have one complaint, it's that it's very very long to get a coffee in the morning. There is a little Starbucks that can easily have a 30 person lineup. And it's a slow moving line.

I really enjoyed my stay there.

I can't say enough about how AMAZING this hotel is. My family has a membership, so we go to the private pool frequently. The staff is always courteous. The atmosphere is very calming. I think it's the little touches that make a difference. For example, tranquil music plays in the pool...literally in the pool. When you swim underwater, you can hear the soft music playing. I also love the free fruit and granola in the spa. It's very fresh and goes perfect with the citrus infused water, which is also complimentary. This hotel is perfect for a weekend getaway.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last month for meetings and it's a great joint!  It's on the ocean, the rooms are great, and it has all of the amenities to make you happy.  There is a nice workout facility, a Starbucks in the lobby, a Fedex office in the lobby, a great bar for mixing and mingling and great conference rooms!
Overall, the staff is there when you need them and the convenience of the above-mentioned amenities make it almost as good as it gets!
It's only 10 minutes from the FLL airport (one of my faves!) and under 5 minutes to the convention center.  No complaints on this hotel!

WOW! gmas 100th bday was extrodinary and the service was excellent. Now cant choose my family but chose my hotel and it was 100% worth each dollar we spent. Spa, bar, restaurant, cabanas, pool side service.Warmly greeted by valet servers, welcomed with a chilled spirit upon arrival. The hotel decorates for each holiday and is wonderful in greeting you daily that you come to concierge, valet, front desk, spa, marriot club, etc. Many many familes with small children are in the resturatns and poolside. Romantic getaway can be had if you reserve a poolside cabana or the private bldg.on the beach side. Each one is worth every dollar. THey evenhave food and drink delivery to the rental area... PS for all you sports fans they provide large TVs for sporting shows.....

The location, food and service was all great and at a reasonable price! However, we found that if your room is located near the water, be prepared to have no phone service and limited to no wireless! Very frustrating...you need to go to the lobby or outside to get service.

Free wireless in the lobby.
Don't take a cab to get downtown, just walk!

Otherwise, I would highly recommend going here and trying their restuarant - 3030.

Not impressed at all!  EVERYTHING cost an additional fee.  We figured this out immediately as I tried to load my baggage on a cart and was refused the use of any of the 20 plus empty carts sitting at the front door (insurance risk), then I was refused a microwave in the room (fire hazard) and offered a mini-fridge for $20 per night.  Breakfast buffet was $30 each serving with your choice of scrambled eggs or nothing else, no waffles, pancakes, english muffins, bananas, oranges, peanut butter, etc etc etc  Dinner menu isn't available until the restaurant opens at 6 pm - no matter how much you ask.

The water is brown from all faucets and fixtures,

ALL of the elevators are a nightmare - each with it's own unique problem (banging, stopping between floors, doors slow to open and close, and all of them HOT w/o A/C).

Jacuzzi's are nice and hot but full of sand each night and the timer's are broken on both units so the jets and bubbles are not functioning.

The door to our room had a malfunctioning lock - took multiple tries to open the door each time we returned to our room and it stuck to the frame so closing it was extremely loud (slam or slowly scraping - your choice).  When I reported it to the front desk, I was encouraged to try again and call down if was still a problem.

The hot water would vary wildly up and down throughout the shower without turning the knob.  Volume on the television would vary wildly between channels.  And the in room air conditioner was unable to cool the room 2 of our 5 days, but freezing cold the other 3 - with thermostat always set as low as possible.

When visiting the beach, the staff was happy to sit by and watch my wife struggle to unstack the lounge chairs, one after another, searching for one that wasn't broken.

Parking in the garage is overpriced and no evidence of an attendant anywhere.  In spite of ample empty spaces (always) cars are consistently parked in the driveways making it especially difficult to drive thru the lanes.  The room-key activated gate is difficult to figure out the first time so a long line routinely formed at the exit as individuals spent minutes trying and failing (no attendant to offer assistance) to activate the gate.

Wi Fi was slow in the room and was unavailable in the conference space.

Was here with my kids, based on previous reviews I am thinking maybe because it was the week of July 4th my experience was not that great.  On the 4th, we were unable to get chairs on the beach or the pool so I had to rent chairs and an umbrella from the watersports group that shares the beach.  Like any resort the prices are absurd, I expect that.  The restaurants (3030 and Sea Level) were so-so and again very expensive.  We had a rental car so we went off property quite a lot to explore the area for meals.  Poolside service is very slow, one day I did not even get my beverage at all.  Weather made things rough so other than swimming and boogie boarding you couldn't snorkel or do anything like that.  Housekeeping, front desk and valet service were exceptional.  Maybe if I come back on a non-holiday it would be different.

I LOVE this hotel!  My boyfriend took me here last September.  We had a balcony overlooking the beach which is one of the things I really loved about our room.  I was able to sit outside to enjoy the weather and the view.
This hotel makes it convenient by providing towels for the beach and complimentary beach chairs on a first come first serve basis.
The private beach was awesome.  I've never seen so many pelicans up close before.  I also got to swim with a school of fish which was pretty cool.
This hotel has a cute little gift shop connected to a Starbucks at reasonable prices.
I've stayed at a few nice hotels in FL including Doral Golf and Spa Resort and The Renaissance.   This hotel is the best one by far.  I absolutely LOVED it!
A note to the BF-if you're reading this: this is the ONLY hotel I want to stay at whenever we go to FL!!  :)

For Christmas I received a gift certificate to the spa- it was awesome. I have been to a number of spas in ft Lauderdale over the years, but never went to the marriott because it is out by the beach and a big hotel so I figured parking would be a nightmare. While not good, it was easy to find a spot in the garage and the elevator took me right up to the lobby. The spa is a nice oasis where you don't feel any of the large hotel around you- it even has its own pool that only spa members can use. The treatment was absolutely wonderful- I recommend it to everyone now- my favorite place!

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The only challenge is that the elevators seem to all be under renovation at the same time. The view and service make up for that. I recommend staying here.

Wonderful, courteous staff - beautiful views on both the ocean and intracoastal sides. Near the port inlet where the cruise ships leave from so you can see all the ships going and coming. Lots of activities and dining options.
Great vacation spot, highly recommended!

Best pool and beach spot in Fort Lauderdale. Service is great and was pleased with the food at the resort. It is expensive for being an older resort but the overall result of what you pay for is in the 4.5-5 star Yelp rating.  Get a partial an oceanview or pool view room. Pool cabana was a good spot to celebrate with a group of friends.

Stayed here one week day night following Labor Day. Four adults traveling; booked two rooms. These were on the 8th floor facing the ocean. I really have nothing bad to say (we often stay at Marriotts). The lobby, facilities, and room were all clean. The elevators were timely despite the fact that there was a sizable event in the one of the ballrooms that night and the hotel occupancy was very high. Beach is clean, lots of chairs available, the pool is large and again has lots of seating available. There is an outside bar near the pool and a sizable indoor restaurant near the pool too. As can be expected at Marriotts everything else is an extra charge: we had to pay 31.80 for valet parking which I think is a bit high (self-parking is $25!). We are looking forward to coming back.

We have been here a few times. The rooms are mostly pretty nice. The spa is great and treatments are reasonable for an upscale hotel. Had a very relaxing massage. The customer service is excellent and employees are very friendly. Food in really good every time I have had it but a little pricey for me. We went $60 on lunch with two cocktails.

Pool and beach area are really fantastic. Overall, very enjoyable experience and every one seems to care that we have a good time.

This review is a combo from two experiences I had at the resort:

Experience 1:

Was told we were not allowed to put the umbrellas up since it was "too windy" for them to be up and unsafe to the guests.  Then why would you have such a setup to begin with?  The rational was poor at best and got hostile with me as I put the umbrella back up to guard my skin from the intense rays. I told them that I wanted new spa /pool days passes since I wasn't able to enjoy my time being burnt by the sun since their facility wasn't designed properly. As I was at valet I was told one of the drivers had rear-ended my car. Lovely. Only offered new spa/pool day passes. REALLY?!?

Experience 2:

When I went to redeem the new spa/pool passes- Tracy the head of department was very stern with me to what days I could redeem the passes. FINALLY, after explaining Experience #1 to her she agreed to "LET" me have a Saturday. Once we arrived we had a private cabana- gross-it was dirty and aged as if no one had remembered to clean them.  Plenty of towels at least.  The food at the bar was actually pretty good and the staff at the pool bar attentive.  HOWEVER-when I went to get my car from valet it took AN HOUR- they apparently had lost my car...at least they refunded the cost of valet.

The spa was decent and the food at the bar good-only two semi redeeming qualities of the hotel.  Has potential to be SO much better.

Separate note-the main restaurant inside is really good- it's too bad they have to be associated with a Meh...hotel!

This place is a wonderful vacation paradise!  Beachfront hotel situated on a beautiful sandy, clean beach.  Large Hotel.  Taxi service and rental car service located onsite.

The hotel staff is very friendly and attentive.  Be warned that it is pricey here (food, activities, starbucks, water, etc...)  $18 for buffalo wings, $15 for chicken tenders, $6 for candy bar.... Got it?  Food is good...not great.

Great location.

Fantastic for business meetings also.  Plenty of meeting room space in various sizes.

Rooms are clean and are a pretty good size.  Some have balconies and some do not.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights after our cruise. Having stayed at Marriot hotels in the past, I was expecting a wonderful experience. It's too bad it was very disappointing. When bookiing the hotel, we asked for memory foam pillows but they were not in the room. After a rainy and cool beach experience, we couldn't get into our room with our room key. We didn't have our ID with us so we had to wait at least 10 minutes for security to come open our door for us. It wasn't a major incovenience but I would expect room keys can get you into the room.

At one point, a hotel staff person knocked at the door and then proceeded to come into the room without waiting for a response. I know we should have had the lock on it but we also didn't expect that someone would come right in. We complained but nothing was really done.

The food options are very limited. There was one restaurant that was overpriced so the first evening we ordered room service and it was overpriced for pasta. The second evening we went to the mall and enjoyed PF Changs. As we don't mind walking, we spent about 30 minutes getting to the mall. The location is ok and close to the port which was a cheap cab ride.

I gave this 1 star because I too had to give it something.

What a dump at every level. I don't want to make this a novel so let me hit the high points.

1. Did a AAA reservation that included parking and breakfast with an oceanfront balcony for 4 nights for May 25 - June 1st.
2. Upon arrival we were greeted by what can only be described as a "not very smart person". This girl looked like she was just pulled out of a cloths dryer and acted that way. Was terribly confused after I gave her my name (could not even start to spell a very SIMPLE name).
3. Pulled up our reservation which did not have the included breakfast - we had the email and scanned docs on our iPhones and iPads.

This is where it gets fun! We were just accused of trying to defraud Marriott! We would have to produce that actual paper - even though the confirmations were sent by Marriott DIGITALLY via email. WTH.

I asked to speak with the property Manger - the guy/girl who really runs the place and what I get was some guy who said he was the manager but really was not - he was the acting flunky. He proceeded to tell me in the following order -

1. I could be defrauding them
2. It is Corporate's Marriott's fault - they screwed up the reservation
3. It was AAA fault - they have glitch in there system.

After all that, I was told fine you can get your breakfast - like he was doing me some type of favor. The rest of the front desk experience was equally poor.

As if that was not a way to screw up the start of a vacation - we go to the room and on the wall of the bathroom is one of three fluids.

1. Puke
2. Snot
3. a waste product from an animal's digestive tract expelled through the anus or cloaca during a process called defecation

This stay is just getting better and better by the minute. We called down and they sent up someone in Hazmat gear to clean this up.

That was it, I called down to talk to the property manger who 'gave us our free breakfast" and found out he was actually not the manager.

After all this, some guy who said he was now in charge actually got it that this was going from bad to worse. We checked out and had our charges (the entire stay charged all at once upon check in) refunded -

Several days later I check our credit card and NO REFUND - back to email and guess what - they screwed that up too!. They did not know that they had to call the CC company directly (I guess they have never processed a credit before). They floated our money for almost 10 days!

Excuses Excuses - blame blame more excuses more blame all while saying WE ARE THE BEST, WE'RE THE BEST.

The real manager - Ms. W (her name and email are published in the guest book in the room and on the internet )got an email and to no surprise did not respond back - The apple does not fall far from the tree with this staff.

What dump, don't waste your money. We ended up at the Waldorf Astoria Boca Beach Club just the road 20 minutes and it was a blessing in disguise. It was a little more but not much and the experience was truly resort - not a dump named resort.

I came down to Ft. Lauderdale to run away from Minnesota with a couple of my cousins and my roomies.

It's a beautiful hotel with everything you need.  We had great service wherever we went, and we quickly made friends with the beach staff. They definitely made a big difference in our stay.

We were lucky and came down during the slow season -- I think I would've hated it if it was crowded.  They have their own private beach, about half a mile from the public beach.  It's well kept and is beautiful.  We woke up every more during our vacation to walk out onto the beach to watch the sunrise.

Our room was comfortable and room service was great. It was a great getaway, and hope I have a chance to come back sometime soon!

Nice hotel, decor and staff attentiveness. Why not 4 stars?  We have frequented the Westin Diplomat and that deserves 4+, and we kept comparing. The Marriott is a good solid property, just not 4 star. The additional star is for consistency.   At times they are understaffed (concierge, restaurant), there are excellent associates and terrible ones.

Excellent-Robert, Melissa in the Spa, Ghada in Riva.

And there are poor ones -Y and J in the Spa. Request the excellent ones to serve you, stay clear of those who aren't. For the cost of the hotel there should be more consistency. We had a great Spa deal and  that elevated our stay.

The front desk staff was attentive and even sent a special treat for our anniversary.

A really good resort on an OK beach.  If the beach is your primary reason to stay here, drive 2 hours and go to Marco Island or head down to the Keys.  Jelly Fish have been a big problem here the last few Winters and they basically turn the beach into a hazard zone with thousands washed up onto the beach each night.

The resort itself is great!  A very nice pool area includes a free kids club with games and activities.

The restaurants are OK, nothing spectacular.

I had  an ocean view room with a balcony.  A daily highlight was drinking coffee in the morning on the balcony watching the waves roll in.

The resort is great but there are much better beaches in Florida within a few hours drive.

I just returned from a wonderful stay here. From start to finish, my mom and I had a great time. Here is why:
We were welcomed by a friendly and attentive staff.
We loved the onsite restaurants, esp Sea Level, which is very good. I recommend the Salmon BLT. And the Starbucks was a nice bonus.
The beach and pool are beautiful
Our room was nice and clean
The fitness room was brand new overlooking the beach and I looked forward to going to it every day. Great equipment and classes.
I visited the spa where I was treated like a queen.

My only negatives is that the decor is becoming a bit outdated and everything in the hotel was a bit pricey (we were on vacation so we overlooked that).

I would recommend this resort and would definitely stay there again!

My husband and I got a couples massage here and had a terrible experience.  The location and spa is beautiful, amenities are decent too.  However out couples massage was far from great.  we paid $400 for a 50 minute couples massage that was nothing special considering it was a couples massage.  We were in two rooms with an open centerfold.  Nothing was done to make this feel like a couples massage at all.  When paying $400 for a 50 minute massage you expect more.
I chose a Swedish massage he chose a deep tissue.
My massage therapist was terrible.  She applied no pressure what so ever the entire 50 minutes.  She was an older lady and I felt like I was getting pet and lightly touched for 50 minutes.  I regret not getting up and walking out.
Had I have been the one to pay, i would have made a scene.
My husband was also unhappy with the quality of the massage.
We were also treated differently and paid more because we were not staying at the hotel property because it was sold out.
I love Marriott, but this was far from good.

I. Loved. This. Place.  It was luxurious, it was outrageously fun.  I didn't want to leave.  We had the privilege of being driven to the airport by the official resort driver (we were waiting for a cab, and he came up to us and offered to drive us, since he wasn't doing anything!). He was adorable and is responsible for transporting Mr. Marriott around when he visits.  He told us that Mr. Marriott spends several weeks every year at only two of his properties: this one and another in Scottsdale.  It was fabulous!

My mom gets to go all over for work conferences, and she brought me and one of my girlfriends along for this one.  The grounds were gorgeous. The room was very comfortable, but I was really there for the beach.  The hotel is located on a stretch of private beach that is very clean.  The staff was wonderful, the concierge recommended some fantastic restuarants and even hooked us up with some discounts to Macy's and the water taxi.

The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because it's a tad isolated.  There's nothing really within walking distance, and in the Florida humidity, my definition of walking distance means very, super close, within a couple blocks.  The closest restaurant is Bahia Cabana about 1/2 mile down the road - home of the best clam strips I've ever had!  There is a strip of shops and restaurants that starts about a mile down the road and goes aways down, so we took a cab over one afternoon; I think it was about $6.

Also, the charge to use WiFi in your room was insane - $12.95 per day!  Its free in the lobby and in the public areas (even the beach), so just use it there.

The resort has a list of daily activities for those who don't want to spend all their time at the beach or pool-side.  Most of the fun stuff did require an extra charge - Zumba classes, candle making, various arts and crafts stuff, etc, but it was nice to have the options. There were various board games to play down in the posh lobby.

The food and drink on-site was very expensive for this budget-friendly girl. We ate at Riva the night we arrived, and just got basic burgers and sandwiches that averaged $16 each. My girlfriend and I got desserts at 3030 Ocean one night - yummy!  The drinks at Sea Level were 100% amazing and could be taken down to the beach with you, but averaged around $15ish a piece with tax and tip.  Most of the food items at Sea Level were large enough to be shared between lighter appetites, if you so desired.

Tip:  there is a Starbucks on-site that has some small food offerings for breakfast and lunch, and they ran pretty close to the same prices you'd find at home.  We'd get coffee in the morning, and pick up a wrap to share for lunch (to pair with some snacks we'd brought from home).  This saved us some cash, and allowed us to indulge a bit on drinks and dessert!  Sea Level has a not-well-advertised happy hour with appetizer specials, so check that out!

We were at the Marriott for my wife's annual fall conference.  I really liked it.

The location could not have been better, it was right on the beach.  Rates were reasonable, service was friendly and we had a nice room.  Our room was pretty standard, but it had everything we needed.  Desk, oversized chair, super comfy bed, flatscreen tv with hbo and nfl channels, safe, iron and board.  We had an ocean view balcony and we opened the doors at night to listen to the surf crashing (love that!).

This seemed like a big complex too.  There are a lot of cool lounge areas outside.  We ate lunch at the Sea Level restaurant a few times and it was good.  The pool was really nice and there was always seating.  The gym was outstanding and had a ton of machines and free weights.  It was free for guests, but I'm pretty sure it's a club for people in the area.  I liked that it was close enough to go jogging along A1A.

Made a reservation about 4 to 6 weeks prior for this past Monday. Checked in at 7pm and was told that they were overbooked and we would not be getting the room we had booked. WHAT ! just because we checked in at 7. We did get a room facing the ocean and it was nice . In the morning we grabbed coffee and sat at the pool. I had read that the pool gets busy and since it was Tuesday I really didn't expect it, but it started too late in the morning so I can only imagine what its like on the weekends . We did get the feeling that we were nicked and dimed to death.

Loved our stay here. Although it is definitely overpriced it is the best hotel in Fort Lauderdale on the beach. It is secluded on its own private beach and somehow right next to everything at the same time. The garage was so convenient even though it was 25 dollars per day. The restaurants on the premises had fantastic food ( yet again pricey) but also had a Starbucks which was great for breakfast. We enjoyed the spa and gym, the pool area the balcony with an ocean front view made it all feel like the best vacation. We loved watching the cruise ships pull out into the ocean from port everglades from our balcony. Great location, great amenities, twenty minutes from the airport if not fifteen and just a great experience if you can afford it

Management changed from hospitable to horrible. If you have a complaint don't bother attempting to deal with management since they will listen but do nothing to resolve a complaint. The front desk is understaffed, the elevators are slow and not maintained, there aren't enough lounges at the pool, the poolside bar/food is overpriced and service is terrible. The food at any of the restaurants is just adequate but are overpriced. The rooms are overpriced and the bathrooms are in need of updating. Warning...you are wasting your money and by the time you get home, you will be in need of a vacation.

I was very impressed with the staff here.   This was very close to a Ritz Carlton experience.  The staff is very bubbly and nice.  Our bell hop was such a pleasure!   Once he placed our luggage in the room he went and filled our ice bucket, nice!
Free margarita at check in! Bonus!
The room was nice although getting a little outdated for the premium that they charge.
The semi private beach...oh yeah this is what I'm talking about!  Raise your little flag and beach side service comes your way. Be prepared for a long wait for that ice cold drink, but who cares you're on the beach right?  We had supplemental cocktails to subdue the long waits.
Enjoy happy hour at the South bar by the pool.  The mussels are half price, and they are to die for with a ice cold glass of Pino Grigio.   What could be better than looking at the Atlantic and getting a great deal?
So why was this not a 5-star review? 1.) Didn't enjoy the $25 charge for non - returned towel cards.  2.) The restaurant and or room service is extremely expensive.  Don't get me wrong I'm willing to pay because of where I am, just make sure the food is outstanding.  3.) Was charged for valet parking for two days and I only used them for one.

I was here this past weekend for a wedding.  I stayed two nights.  The service was amazing and the staff was friendly.  I was not a big fan of hotel guest paying $25 a day/night for parking.  I think guest should get a discount, yet I believe this is a new trend for some hotels.  I usually pick hotels with free parking.  I really have no complaints beyond the parking price.   I think for the price of the room per night there should be free Wifi not $12.95 a day, free parking for guest not $25 a day, and some of the little extras should not cost so much money.  Besides that everything was great!

Harbor Beach Marriott is a great hotel! The hotel could use some updates (like the phones, carpets, etc)  but the beds were extremely comfortable, and the tvs and bathrooms were updated. The staff were hospitable and beautiful beach access makes the stay even better!

I am a Starbucks junkie and having a Starbucks in the lobby was not only convenient but a cheaper option than getting breakfast at the restaurant! I love how the resort has many sporting options other than the main attraction (the beach).  The basketball and tennis courts are well kept and always available for use. The pool surrounded by a tropical oasis of palms and beautiful flowers which makes laying out by the pool even more relaxing. The sound of the palms swaying in the wind definitly makes the pool experience that much better!

As a South Florida local, this place turned out to be the perfect choice for our STAYcation.

The rooms were a good size with a closet you could actually use. The bathroom was a shower/ toilet combo which I don't love but typical. We had a side balcony with partial ocean and pool views.

Our day revolved around lounging by the pool and alternating between drinking piña coladas and mojitos. Tough life. The pool is pretty big and there was plenty of seating for that amount of people. The cabanas are beautiful and have lounge "beds" instead of the usual lounge chairs. Some have tv's and fridges  Due to a mistake on their part, our reservation for a cabana was made for the wrong day.  They gave us complimentary use of one of the beach cabanas to make up for it. Those are far from the pool and noticeably older. They are also housed in an actual building structure. The pool cabanas are canvas clothed. Ours had a safe, shower, fridge, mirror, 2 chairs and 2 lounge chairs. It worked out although we wished we could have stayed closer to the pool.

The drinks I mentioned were very good! In the afternoon they give out cookies and lemondae to the guests. There is a kids club right by the pool with a splash pad and group activities. There is also an outside bar and cafe which we dined in as well. (will review separately)

I did not use the gym but it is beautiful and has ocean views! Will use it next time for sure. Well, maybe...

The gift shop has a really nice selection of items. It was more like the non card area of a large Hallmark store than a hotel shop which was a nice surprise and the staff was very nice. There is a second smaller gift shop in the basement which was well stockedl!

The lobby has 3030 Ocean which is a great restaurant and I have already reviewed in the past. Check it out! yelp.com/biz/3030-ocean-…

My favorite part? The lobby Starbucks! yes! It was perfect. Wake up, head downstairs, have my coffee and head to the pool without the need to do a full sit down breakfast first.

The hotel is close to Las Olas and neaby restaurants and shops so it is ideal for any vacation!

My family of four enjoyed this hotel. It is only one of a few that is right on the beach.  There is easy access to the beach and a close walk to nearby restaurants.  The rooms are nice and clean. The only issue was a bit of inconsistency when the room was cleaned each day.  The beach had access to a separate commercial operation that offered Wave runners, paddle boards and several other items. We loved the Marriott Harbor Beach and plan to return.

I really want to give this places 4 stars because the food quality is close to exceptional at all the restaurants.

They lost a star for service. It took me 20 mins sitting outside my room door because the room key stopped working. They also add 'trip fees' if you kindly request empty champagne glasses. It's $6 but seems like a 'nickel & dime' approach and I don't like that. That $6 takes away from the service person's tip. Marriott should not assess these 'nickel & dime' charges. However, the staff are super friendly, but my necessarily accommodating.

I would go back because I think they can improve upon these things easily. It's a nice hotel with high quality restaurants.

I recently spent one night at this property.  I definitely plan on returning if in the area.

I treated myself to a room with an ocean view.  What a treat it was.. and you can even sit outside your room

I found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful.  I like that there are some restaurant choices so that I didn't have to leave.

No doubt about it, this place is expensive.  Self parking and/or valet parking is over $28+. All of the restaurants are expensive including breakfast.

The hotel itself is beautiful and located right on the beach.  In addition, there's a lovely large pool area.

If you're looking for a top notch place to stay in Fort Lauderdale,  this is the place.

I've stayed in a number of Marriotts in this city and I found this property to be the best.

This hotel was beautiful and my family was so looking forward to staying here my husband upgraded our rooms to ocean views and we bought the resort package. We arrived took a rest and then proceeded down to the beach my son went up to the room to change we were waiting for him I got up to walk out and tripped on an unlit step to the left of the back door. The security officer came out with a wheelchair and some ice and took me back to our room and there I stayed for the rest of the evening. No dinner no enjoying anything this hotel had to offer we ordered a pizza in the room.i had to take a wheelchair to the airport the next day mind you this was the 22nd of December I sprained my ankle so bad and had to have Christmas dinner catered due to the fact that my ankle was swollen and black and blue. This really put a damper on my holidays all because this step was not lit . I received a letter from Michael Moore on the 29th of December asking me to contact him I have tried to call and got his message machine 3 times with no call back I have texted twice and no response. As I said it is a gorgeous hotel but don't get hurt they will just ignore you They have left me no choice but to complain on yelp terrible customer service!!! I am so disappointed in their customer service and would never recommend this place to anyone

We had a great convention -Florida oracle Applications Users group Meeting on July 24-25'2014 at this Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & SPA.
The way they organized the meeting was amazing- Credit goes from the top person like Karen Chastain-She is a True Leader-she is suited for this General Manager role in the Hospitality industry-Highly compassionate, truthful, no phony or anything or no lip service. She means what she says. Cannot say more words.
Beach is so beautiful -you should talk to people like Carmen or Reggie to get those rooms-very responsible, nice and accountable-
They can provide refrigerator if you ask -very nice they deliver it to the room. Event Manager Reggie Nisbett did an outstanding job. He deserves the credit-he is always running to help and get things going... Great Go-getter. Even while leaving my colleagues ask something, he goes and calls immediately. He answers the phone spontaneously! :)
Restaurant in the hotel -RIVA is awesome ... People who work in the restaurant make a difference as well - To mention or really worth mentioning are - Alan Kasperek, Desiree, Teresa and Rosa.-Awesome people! :)
They have a FedEx Inside the hotel where we can do business related or printing boarding pass and what not- Denise.cavallo is a great manager and highly responsible to work and help out during this function. Ricky or Ricardo -PSAV person was good as well as Frank -very nice PSAV guys.
Another Great Event Coordinator is Allie- very nice, quick and good person -she is fantastic
Charlie who does Banquet and sometimes Cocktails and Bar -manages with a pleasant face and nice.
Reggie, Derek and others made a special Vegetarian food for me -for Lunch. They brought it special. I cannot say more words for that.
Jan - who is highly dedicated to Marriott, I would not be able to meet Executives without her help -She is truthful, means business, honest, ethical and great asset for her dedication to Marriott. She goes out of the way to do that!:)
Jessica who is always on the phone, willingness to help has been proven to narrate an inside -sometimes she wants to come all the way to give the drinks to your room -bottle of water. She has that passion-she says that's what we are here for. Same goes with Sharon who brought the refrigerator.
Concierge Desk -Frankie Kostoff is very objective, she is suited for this hospitality concierge job. Way to go ...Very cheerful and nice person.
Kris at the front Desk - who is true to her job, knows how to treat customers- She goes out of the way and helps me during Check-in -She is really marvelous- was touched by her gestures-the way she tells how the Loyalty to Marriott- she really cares for regular Marriott customers like me -She knows the difference. Overall, I was really happy with this hotel. It is one of the few properties with direct beach access without needing to cross over A1A. The staff was very helpful and gave us adjoining, ocean view rooms. Each had a terrace. The spa was fantastic. I asked about discounts, and they gave me a discount because of my Marriott Rewards status. The spa has its own pool, which was a welcome respite, and the locker room has everything - a Jacuzzi, steam, large showers, all the toiletries down to toothpaste. My treatment with Lauren was very relaxing and exactly what I wanted. I would definitely stay again.

Nice family hotel located right on the beach. Great atmosphere. Great for kids too. Nice pool with palm trees, tiki bar, etc. Beach with jet skis, etc. Men walking around in Hawaiian shirts. This is a place the Griwalds would stay!

Centrally located hotel with parking.  The suites were beautiful, with renovated kitchens and bathrooms, and balconies overlooking the ocean.  The suite was beautiful and could fit 4 comfortably. housekeeping done right.  A big plus is that there are tons of shops and restaurants literally attached to the hotel, including hooters, dueling piano bar, and lulus.  The beach is 2 minutes away, and was packed for spring break one day and then filled with locals the next day.

Elevators were slow, which got annoying as the weekend progressed.  Great facilities on pool level for dining, and a luxurious locker room with showers and steamroom.

Great cigar bar in the mall too.

All in a a great place to stay on the beach.

Stayed here for 2 days. The grounds, pool area and beach were very clean and well kept. This place is great for families, events, couples, just about anyone. Wifi was not free, neither was parking but the hotel is conveniently located close to shops and a few restaurants so you won't have a problem walking to grab food or necessary amenities. The area is very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. I sat in the hot tub outside and practically fell asleep. Beds are comfy and soft, wifi is strong ( and I'm picky about my wifi signal) staff was very friendly. The only issue was the parking garage door doesn't work very well. But other than that, great place...I would definitely stay again!!

I love coming to this resort. It's RIGHT on the sand - you don't have to cross A1A to get to the beach.

We were here in early September for our 25th wedding anniversary - just for the night. When I told them on the phone it was our anniversary, they gave us a late check out the next day, no questions asked. Then when we checked in, what a surprise - they upgraded us to a suite on the top floor - ocean front (we originally booked an ocean front deluxe room). Then when we returned from the pool, the mangement sent us chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine. AMAZING service!

The room itself was really nicely done - updated recently. Comfortable bedding, beautiful view. There is a spa on site which we didn't use, nor did we use the gym. The pool is nice, a standard pool right next to the beach with great poolside service - raise your flag on your chair and you get a server to bring you food and drinks. Several hot tubs. There are more "luxurious" chairs that you can rent for the day, but we didn't have the need for that.

Food choices here are a little disappointing. The room service breakfast was really terrible, I'm sorry to say. It was over $60 (which I dont mind paying, really) - but the eggs tasted like the kind you pour out of a carton and the french toast had no flavor whatsoever. It was like hospital food.

For dinner, we wanted to stay on-site but all they had was a seafood restaurant. Hubby doesnt eat seafood and didnt want a giant ribeye steak so we went out to dinner. Choices poolside are more or less cold sandwiches and chips/fruit etc.

We will return for sure. Very accomodating staff. Great service. It was off-season, not sure how it goes in high season but I'd prefer to come when the tourists arent in town anyway.

One other point - it is not in the middle of the Ft Lauderdale action. You'll have to take a shuttle/taxi to that. You can walk next door to the Sheraton yankee clipper for other restaurants, bars and they have complimentary shuttle service to the more active part of the beach.

Great resort... The pool area is very nice and the beach is great no rocks in the sand and has a good shallow entrance
They have 2 good restaurants one outside more casual but still good food and 3030 which is an excellent seafood place
The only bad thing about the hotel is its a bit expensive and they don't need to be charging $38 to park your car after your already paying $350 a night
But overall all a great place

My parents are members here so I have been going here since I was little. It never gets old. The food here is great! We always order food on the beach from the food trucks. Def get the mahi mahi sandwich it is the out of this world. We never hang out by the pool but it looks like so much fun for kids. We always sit on the beach and then we go to the spa pool which is nice and relaxing. I def recommend coming to this beach because it is also the widest beach I have ever been too.

Great resort! Beautiful beach and clear water. The pool and service is great too. Had an ocean view room, so nice to look out in the evenings and the mornings. Kids activities are too notch...always something to do down to movies at nights poolside on Friday & Saturday nights.
Had a small issue with room service only one of the times. However it was the specific individual delivering not the kitchen. Other times all was great. Food was wonderful, drinks good. Clean resort. Will return.

Beach access, fitness center and most importantly, on site Starbucks! My family stayed at this resort in July 2014 for our yearly family vacation and my birthday celebration! Out of all the other resorts, this was by far the best! Great pool with food and beverage service... great restaurants and friendly staff! The best things about this resort was being able to get to the beach without having to cross the street like the other hotels nearby. Happy hour and close proximity to stores and other restaurants are amongst other great features to add! Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed :)

For this review I think I am going to rely on the good-ole pros and cons list approach. We will start with the Cons...

1. Location (which will be on the pro list as well for a deferent reason.) The property is kinda off the beaten path and has some maneuverability issues due to the location. Since it is located on a dead end hill with one way in and one way out,
2. Lack of dining options on property, and
3. The "resort shop" lacked option and did not have any magazines

1. BEAUTIFUL views for both sides of the hotel. One side was the city and water way views and the other side ocean view,
2. Private Beach located behind the property so if you did not want to go to Fort Lauderdale public beach the private beach was at your disposal,
3. Staff was courtesy and helpful when questions were asked, and
4. Rooms were large.

Overall, the experience at the hotel was great the rooms and lobby were nicely updated and the property was easy to navigate. I will note that the property did include some of my hotel pet-peeves like guest having to pay to park, guest required to pay to use the gym facilities, and not in room internet (but they at least offered free internet in common areas.) Since, these practices are somewhat common places I did not include them as cons but if these things did not exist at this property I would have given them a higher rating.

Additionally, I was able to deal with the banquet staff during this visit since we had events in the hotel while there and the staff was great and the food was really good. Not typical banquet food which was nice for a change. The property was also walking distance to Fort Lauderdale Beach but some distance from the main drag so bring walking shoes if you want to experience the city and don't have a car. Overall, nice property!

Here on business (10/17/14-10/21/14) and the free Wi-Fi is down.  Has been down since Wednesday, I am told, and now it's Sat late afternoon.  If I was on a vacation, lack of web access could be an opportunity to go off the grid and actually vacation but if they promote business conventions, the business features have to work and the problem is on the property, not with ISP service in the general area.  Have no car and am told a sister property is a mile down the beach that has working Wi-Fi.  Pretty sad state.  Would pay a daily fee for it to be available.  How can an entire property be down for DAYS?  Nothing offered as compensation: comp'd night, drinks, a meal.  $1300 for 4 nites at a group rate including the additional $50/nite for resort fee (no use for it) and the usual taxes & govt fees.

Attended an evening reception on an outside deck.  As it got dark, there were no lights.  Couldn't see the appetizer tables or anything.  Same with the restaurant; tiny battery candles on tables and no mini-lights on railings or umbrellas or anywhere.  Got so dark we couldn't see our plates of food.  And Monday, after being away from 8am - 5:15pm, returned to room and it had not yet been made up, Had to call (sending someone up immediately = 20 mins later) and then vacate for 30 min.  Really miserable experience.  Would not go for vacation either.

My husband and I decided to spend our anniversary with a short jaunt to the east coast. Luckily, we were able to secure an ocean front room and also see our dear friends that are staying on the property at the same time. Staff is certainly friendly enough and anxious to accommodate. The rooms, however, fall very short. When we got to our room we discovered that they had failed to place a board under the trampoline, I mean mattress, so we called the front desk. A short time later the engineer came to the room. I had to assist him by lifting the mattress -- and to my delight I discovered clothing under the mattress (at least that is what I'm telling myself it was) and other pieces of debris. Guess house keeping doesn't turn the mattress or at the very least check under them. At the end of a long day I was hoping for a nice shower, but I was greeted by a strangers hair in the soap dish. Gross and gross! Not impressed by this property in the least and now know better - bring some disinfectant with you when you check in and a sleeping bag - the mattress is atrocious!

I continue to pick this resort as my "go to" spot in Fort Lauderdale.  Sure- it's an older property, but it is well maintained and offers everything I want from the beach to the pool to the spa.

While it's a little further south than all the "action" of the boardwalk area, I appreciate that fact as it is right on the beach. less hectic and I can always walk into town if I want to.

The rooms are functional, but not fancy and if you go- spend the extra bucks to get oceanside or at least poolside with a partial ocean view.  It's one of the assets this place has to offer.

But the best thing about this place?  The service.  Everyone you run into from the doormen to the house keeping staff is friendly and they acknowledge you and your business.  And on this visit- the pool was better staffed so service was much better.

Still my "go to" hotel for fun in the sun!

Recently visited this hotel resort for a conference. The front desk staff and the concierge were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a Starbucks and several restaurants. I would definitely recommend visiting again.

Stayed here for 1 night after a cruise. Checked in at 10 am but our room wasn't ready yet, however the desk gave us towel cards and showed us where lockers were which was very convenient. The pool area is spacious, scenic and great to swim in. Our oceanview/balcony room was ready an hour later. The view is gorgeous. The room itself was very nicely appointed and comfortable. This resort is overall 5 stars however there are a few major disadvantages that drop it to 4 stars. For example, paying an extra fee to use an umbrella at the hotel's beach is not really appropriate.

My advise on this property: STAY AWAY... now let me explain why. Fantastic location (hence the 2 stars), nice property, ok amenities, everything you will expect from a resort... but... extremely poor execution and way too expensive for what you get.

Let's start with check in. Lines can be really long. They do have a sector for Elite Members, but no divider, so you have to line up like everyone else (what's the point of the elite members check-in though?). Sometimes the lines can be really long there. In my case, I had to wait 25 minutes just to get to the counter. First thing you notice, the counter is understaff (at most times) and staff likes to editorialize on everything, even when the line is getting longer by the minute. I asked to talk to the manager, which was conveniently in a meeting at that time (very old trick).

Second thing you will notice is the elevators. For some strange reason I saw several reviews, some of them dated back in 2010 citing elevators down or malfunctioning. Well, it is 2014 and they have still elevators down and malfunctioning (I don't think I have to develop further about this, pretty clear, isn't it?).

Please be aware of weekends, especially in summer. You can pay a fee to be a 'member of the club' which will give you access to almost everywhere in the property except the rooms. As the fee is as low as $35 per day, this property during summer weekends gets packed like sardines in a can. Considering the average room at this place is in the range of $300, not having room at the swimming pool or at the beach because it is all full with this '35 bucks members of the club', it is completely unacceptable. I do understand the hotel needs to make as much revenue as they can but they pile up more people than the infrastructure can handle. With that said, it is no surprise they fail in execution.

Rooms are clean and spacious. I happen to reserve an ocean view one and I have to say it has a fenomenal view. This is as much as I can say about the rooms. Nothing else seems to be worth the $300 you pay for it.

Another thing that shows you why you should stay away from this property. As far as I could experience, the managers and employees at this resort, have the strange idea, problems will solved by themselves. As an example, I happen to have a very noisy family right next to my room. First night it was around 12:30AM in the morning and I could hear the people right next door, yelling, screaming and laughing really loud. To make a long story short, after the 3rd time I called security about this, they finally took care of the problem (sort of).

When it comes to the restaurants, Sea Level is just ok. Honestly, it is a kind of T.G.I Fridays but at double the price. Nothing special about it. I really like the pool service they provide, only thing, is they stop serving at 5PM. So at happy hour, if you want a cocktail at the pool, you cannot.

About Ocean 3030, guys, honestly, what kind of joke is that restaurant? The food is average at the best but the prices are outrageous. Honestly, I do not mind paying $38 for glazed double cut pork chop with grilled vegetables if you provide me with a plate I cannot forget or I will die to get again, but not for a plate I have to leave half of the pork chop because it was inedible (not to mention it is useless to complain). At least drinks were fine. Only one advise to those bartenders. Guys, if someone orders a very expensive scotch it is kind of insulting to measure it to the last drop (it only happened to me about twice in my life and in places of doubtful reputation what puts this bar into that category as well).

Breakfast buffet at Riva is really good. Little bit on the overprice side ($25) but considering other Marriott properties it is kind of expected. Only thing I will not understand is why I have to pay extra for pancakes, but omelets and french toast were included (go figure). One thing, if you love eggs, they only have scrambled and sounds they use flour or starch to 'stretch' them (yes Mr Chef.. it is very noticeable, trust me).

About parking and internet access. Guys, this is 'technically' a full service Marriott property. For someone who goes to Marriott properties around the year, it is normal you have to pay for internet access (not $16.50 like in this property but close enough) and due to the location, it is very common you have to pay parking as well. So do not feel surprise you will have to pay for this.

As I mentioned before, this hotel is very well located, it is a nice property and has good amenities, but it lacks on execution what throws everything else out of the window.

As I said, you may want to stay away from this property. especially at $300 a night you can get so many better options in the area, it is not worth to even try it.  May be you want to try the new Marriott resort in Pompano Beach, just 5 miles north. if you still want to experiment this property, please, do not say, you were't warned.

Must read!! I had my wedding take place here in September 2014. It was an Indian destination wedding that took place over 5 days! Since everybody was out of town, every single person who attended the wedding stayed at the hotel and all our events over the course of 5 days were also held at the hotel. The housekeeping staff is absolutely unreliable. They were found in my bridal suite even though the door displayed a do not disturb sign. Furthermore, the housekeeping staff was going through my things in my suite. My mother caught a lady on the spot doing that. To make it worse, they stole my phone and turned it in to lost and found with the wrong phone and claimed no theft. I took the matter to their claims with many proofs and pictures but unfortunately they did absolutely nothing about it. They lost my business over a phone when I spent close to 100k at their hotel. Disappointing!

I might have been more enthralled with this property if it hadn't been the middle of August and if I were staying here for pleasure rather than for business (though frankly I don't know that I would choose to stay at a Marriott property for pleasure ...).  It definitely is a nice location, as it is situated on a private beach -- but frankly that started to feel old when I realized that nothing else was within walking-distance (an issue of climate as well as geography).  The breeze off of the ocean made it somewhat tolerable to sit on the balcony to decompress after a full day of conference sessions.

However, I found service somewhat lacking.  An example: one day my key was demagnetized, and I didn't happen to have ID with me when I went to the front desk to deal with it.  Rather than reprogramming a key and sending someone from security up with me to check my ID when I got to my room, they sent me to stand outside of my room to wait for security (and wait I did, for over half an hour).  When security finally showed up, they let me in and checked my ID, but did they have a reprogrammed key?  No, I had to go back down to the front desk.  Ridiculous!  Other annoyances -- sloooow elevators, or maybe it is that half of them were not working?  Weirdly yellow tinged water that I noticed one evening when I thought I would relax in a hot bath (there went that idea ...)  Wireless internet that kept resetting/losing connection (I paid $12.95/day for this?)  Not impressed at all.

The saving grace for my stay?  Dreamily comfortable beds.  The buffets arranged for the conference were also quite nice -- there was always a nice variety of tropical fruit at breakfast, the breakfast/lunch menus were nicely varied from day to day, and desserts were oh so yummy (and, since it was all included in the conference fee, I didn't have to cringe at how much I'd spent on a plate of fruit).

This place is awesome!  This is our second time coming here in less than a year.  We stayed for 5 days each time.  The staff is fantastic - Mickey and Chris - the two bellmen are absolutely awesome - they kept my 5 year old laughing the entire time.  They made our time at the Marriott.  We also loved the large pool, direct beach access, close access to the water taxi and cleanliness of the room.  Our room had a terrible view over the convention center, but like I told my other son we aren't here to sit in the room.

I am a gold marriott member and have stayed at many properties, this one is definitely worth visiting.  Be prepared for pricey drinks, food etc.  like any other destination spot.  Simply visit the local liquor store and bring what you need - no big deal.

Very nice place and the staff are wonderful. They charge you for every little thing though, and it adds up. $2.25 for a bottle of water, $14.00 a day for internet and $37.00 a day to valet park. I would rather they just build this stuff into the price of the room.

If you want to have some adult fun, be prepared to take a cab or Uber.

Location is excellent but that is all they have to offer.
Service people are friendly but that can't make up for the lack of value in this property.

I am here on business and cant believe how dingy this place looks.

Rooms are the same rooms you would get in any Marriottt except if you are willing to spend $500 -$600 per night you might get ocean view.
I ask if there is conceirge or M club and front desk tells me no they are a resort Marriott. Okay then maybe you shouldn't have the same ugly carpet, same wallpaper and same toiletries you get in any Marriott. Nothing at all that would justify the pricing. Plus when i get to room they didn't adjust clock for the time change (spring ahead guess room keeping doesnt do that and kleenex box was empty).
On property you have only 2 choices for dinner, one that is casual and good for lunch and the other that considers itself fine dining but is far from that. Had the roasted tomato soup and octopus salad both were mediocre.
Water in room is $3 for little bottles you would get free at any other non resort Marriott.  I go to beverage machine so that I only pay $1 for bigger water and the machine is empty.
TV in room is located on a really old style dresser and has all these cables laying around even though there is a wall bracket. Guess they couldn't figure out how to put it on the bracket. Look in refridgerator to see if what was stocked and piece of refridge falls off. You can see it in the pics I posted.

By the way did I tell you I am Platinum Elite and this is what they give me.
Plus there is a resort fee and charge you for everything they can.
Really horrible property and I am very lucky that company is picking up expenses.

Just say NO. My husband and I just this month stayed here one night for our honeymoon before we left for our cruise. When we checked in we stated it was our honeymoon and we were told they wanted to "send a little something for us up to our room." That little something never arrived.

But there was already something in the room. The room was full of ANTS that crawled into my suitcase all over my clothes. The mini bar was broken, and their was literal FECES on the ceiling of our bathroom. When I called to complain I asked for a refund only to be told since we booked through Hotels.com they couldn't. However she said she would gladly give me 40,000 points, of course insult to injury those never posted either. A motel would have been better than this place we spent $350 a night on.

**This review is for the SPA only**

We arrived about 15 minutes early, per the spas suggestion, and were quickly lead back into the spa. We were given robes, lockers, and a key to get us all around the spa. After a short tour of the facility we were left to change in our robes and get ready for our massages. With any 50 minute service you get complimentary use of the spa facilities for the entire day of your service.

Spa facilities include use of the cardiovascular - weight training room, a variety of fitness classes, outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool, separate spa facilities for men and women, featuring steam, sauna, whirlpool, spa amenities and toiletries for your personal use, private locker provided with plush robe and sandals for use within the spa, and complimentary juices, teas and fruit served throughout the day. They really do have EVERYTHING you could need while you are there.

We waited in a very nice waiting area for our massage therapists to come fetch us. Water, tea, and juices are available to enjoy while you wait. Our therapists arrived right on time and we were taken back to our rooms. They have 6 massage rooms, so they are able to accommodate a LOT of people throughout the day. We both really enjoyed our massages and I wish I could have taken Josephina back to Orlando with me.

We didn't have to wait very long after our massages for our nail techs to come get us for our manicures. Even though we were their last appointments of the day they took their time and we never felt rushed. We were even offered champagne, which I took advantage of, when we were first brought in. My hands welcomed the pampering as I hadn't had a real manicure in ages. I loved my tech Sandy who was very friendly and talked throughout the entire manicure.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy the other spa facilities available, but made sure to look around again before we left. The next time I'm in town I will definitely be going back to the spa and making sure I have time to enjoy all the facilities and spend some time by the pool. They also have a HUGE Jacuzzi in the women's locker room that I was bummed I couldn't spend some time in.

I love this hotel! I have been here so many times because of work, and I always look forward to it. The staff is always so friendly! Reggie, the Event Manager, is such a pleasure to work with. The Concierges are always so helpful. I have never had any issues at this hotel. When something starts to become a slight problem, it is immediately corrected. The food at both restaurants is amazing and the rooms are gorgeous. I highly recommend the Marriott Harbor Beach for any event or for a hotel stay :).

The Marriott Harbor Beach is a terrific hotel. I've stayed here several times, and each time have been pleasantly impressed with how my stay went. I love Fort Lauderdale and hope to go back and visit very soon.

The pool is kid friendly with access directly to the beach. You can really spend all day just at the resort and be content. You can also venture out A1A "beach front avenue!" (Vanilla Ice reference, anyone?). It's a short walk and fun to stop in at the local shops and restaurants.

Love that it has its own private beach but I Did not have a good experience here. Customer service here is horrible.  Staff did not do even the simple things like keeping the elevator door open while I was carrying my toddler.  Very disappointed.

I recently stayed at this hotel with my husband who was there for a conference. It's a nice property and pretty much looks like it does on line. The pool is great and my 4 year old had fun. The beach has super easy access. However, from the first day we got there it sounded like horses were stampeding every time someone took a shower/flushed toilet above us or next door. It was the most irritating and disruptive sound I've ever experienced in a hotel. A pipe broke or burst eventually flooding the carpet in the hallway outside our room. Two employees then banged on our door (we had a do not disturb sign up) and by the time I got to the door they opened it. They were apologetic but it wasn't handled properly. Overall it's a decent place but I wouldn't choose to stay here again if I had the choice.

This would have been zero stars had the kind man at the front desk suggest the Spa pass to utilize the spa and more importantly, the spa pool and amenities. The regular pool was AWFUL... talk about UN RELAXING. The people at that pool were not for me, to many kids and people running all around. If your looking for relaxation, get the spa pass for the pool there. No kids, no sounds, and cool towels brought to you pool side.

The room was NOT worth the price we paid, and needed some serious updates. Stains on the sheets, drawers broken, bathroom was outdated too. I had an oceanfront room, and balcony was tiny.

The beach was not relaxing compared to other hotels ive stayed in the area. It was more family fun and I like relaxing and calm.

Never ate at the restaurant aside from breakfast, which was always good.

Some of the most exceptional service I have experienced. Everyone on staff is incredibly friendly. When you finish a meal, your plate is promptly whisked away. When you need your phone charged because you left the power chord at home (Doh!) they will charge it for you. When your room is about to be cleaned, housekeeping staff will make small talk with you as you head out. Truly exceptional.

The property is also a stunner. Pristine beach, beautiful pool, chic lobby....Love it!

The spa, though spendy, is also worth taking advantage of. I had a wonderful hot stone massage but also loved the lobby, the resting areas and the wonderful staff. Wish I could be there right now!

My room was a bit of a bummer. The AC was squeaky and the proximity to the road made it a tad noisy for sleeping. Nothing terrible by any means, but not 5 star.

I'm going to go with the positives first. Gorgeous location, right on the beach with about 1.5 miles to Las Olas where many diverse restaurants, cafes, art galleries and shopping can be found. Service is friendly and enthusiastic, they do aim to please. Water sports, a few good restaurants on location such as Riva and 3030, also Sea Level which is an outdoor grill by the pool with a bar.
The things that were lacking were the water pressure in the room, it was very low, internet connection and service extremely slow (how do people work here, it took me 10 min to just sync my phone!!) and horrible TV reception!! Now, this didn't really bother me too much because I didn't spend a lot of time watching tv in my room, but it was really annoying when the sound along with the picture is affected!
I've been to better Marriott hotels for sure. We have a great one here in Chicago. For me personally, I was fine with it because I was on the beach in 75 degree weather coming from 15 degree weather. If this was a Marriott in say New York or Boston where they have winters like we do, I wouldn't have been fine with it. I've experienced better Marriott hotels and this was not one of them.

Wow !
To keep it short and sweet this hotel is beautiful !
Right on Fort Lauderdale beach, gorgeous pool, friendly staff,  clean rooms and well kept courtyard.  There was a few restaurants in the hotel and many dining options very close by (Ft. Lauderdale strip).  The location is very central to Las Olas, the airport and pompano.

Definitely will be returning here as soon as possible
