I'm giving it 3 stars only because of the front desk staff.  I was at the desk several times for different things and they were all very nice and helpful..  Hampton Inn seems to have it down pat when it comes to customer service at their desks.  The cleaning staff-not so much.  I realize the cleaning staff are not highly paid and don't get the respect they deserve but sometimes they are their own worse enemy.  We checked in a little early and once in the room we heard a knock and just as I was opening the door a lady was starting to key in.  She appeared to be a supervisor and said she was going to check the room.  She apologized and left.  No problem.  An hour later the wife and I decided to go to the pool. I had the door shut but propped open with the open deadbolt for my wife to enter without her key.  I was standing in the area right in front of the door changing and had just put on my bathing suit when there was a knock and the door opened at the same time.  Another member of the cleaning crew.  I asked what she thought she was doing barging in but with her accent I couldn't understand.  I asked her to please leave and she did.  I saw her later at the elevator and asked why she would enter like that.  She tried to justify it (I think) but I let her know she had no business barging in.  She said she knocked and I reminded her that she entered as soon as she knocked.  Ok, no biggie.  Well, I walked away from her and another member of the cleaning staff was on the elevator that she just entered.  She looked right at me as the door was closing and made no effort to hold the door.  Another strike.
Overall the hotel is nice.  The breakfast was typical with undercooked bacon.  I found one piece I could eat out of the 10 pieces there.
There is no where to eat around the hotel so if you don't want to drive in a city environment or take a cab then you may want to look elsewhere.

We stayed here the night before our cruise. Room was clean and serviceable. There was a small pool, gym, and 1 computer available for internet access, plus wifi available. We were within walking distance of several stores, including a grocery store for last minute cruise purchases. Free breakfast that was full of variety! Free shuttle service-not just to the ships in the morning, but to several area restaurants, so we went out to dinner that night via the shuttle! We would definitely stay again.

I stayed at this hampton inn in mid March and it was by far the worst hotel stay I have ever had. The staff at the front desk was not personable at all. It seemed like they hated their job and wanted to be anywhere else besides sitting behind that desk. Once I got to my room, I found several stains on the bed. After calling the desk, they said they replace it ASAP. 3 hours later, I finally get a knock on the door. That night, I was woken by a bunch of drunk spring breakers screaming in the hallways. To top it off, I checked my credit card bill when I got home and they had charged me for an extra night. After calling customer service, I finally got a refund after 3 weeks of waiting. Never again will I stay at this hampton inn. You can find a much better hotel for the same price and closer to the beach.

Clean, comfortable, was lucky to get an early checkin.. This is apparantly a favorite hotel of cruise goers.  The front desk staff asked everyone that checked in if they were going on a cruise.  Wierd - I was just in town on business.

I would have stayed there again, but they were all booked up the second trip.

Looking for a reasonable place to stay before your cruise out of Port Everglades?  Don't look any further.  We were just looking for a one night stay before our cruise and this fit the bill.

Room - clean and quiet at the end of a hallway.  Room was quite large for 3 people and the bathroom was clean.

Hotel area - somewhat sketchy.  During the day, I wouldn't mind walking around by myself, but at night, probably not.  If you had a group of people you were with, a venture out at nighttime would be fine.  This hotel is located in vicinity of the city hall and federal courthouse.

Free breakfast -- well worth it.  I thought it would be busier with the cruise crowds, but it was well organized.  The ladies working the buffet were always cleaning.

And the free shuttle to the port was one of the most organized shuttles I've ever been on!  The shuttles leave every hour and we were to the port in 15 minutes.

Didn't get a chance to hit the pool, but it looked clean with plenty of pool chairs.

Stayed at the Hampton Inn on Andrews by accident, after an incredible bout of drinking at Maguire's Hill 16.  Luckily, my insanely pre-cognitive friend with the smarts booked the Hampton within walking distance from the bar.

I was a bit dubious when a friend said they were staying at the Hampton Inn.  I guess I just picture a Motel 6 or Days Inn kind of place.  I could not be further from accurate when picturing this place as a Days Inn.  Eleven stories, 3-11 with rooms.  The first floor is the very nice with spacious lobby, complementary cookies and coffee, and other amenities.  This feels like a real and serious hotel, the staff extremely friendly and accommodating.   The second the weight room, very nice dining area for the breakfast (which we all completely slept through) and the pool, which is modest but nice with plenty of deck chairs.

The rooms themselves are what you would expect.  There was a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.  The bedding was very nice and soft, although they did ask to change rooms because the comforters in the original room smelled like smoke.  Without a question, the hotel gave them a different room.

You can easily pay a lot more and get a lot less for a hotel in this area.

Overall a great hotel in a prime downtown location.

It's within walking distance to the Riverwalk and some commercial blocks to the south. The neighbourhood to the west is a little sketchy with lots of graffiti and vagrants about, but we didn't have any incidents.

Hotel staff was good though we had a constantly-flummoxed new employee at the front desk who constantly seemed like she was on the verge of an inevitable breakdown.

Pretty decent continental breakfast offered, and a very nice and clean outdoor pool and jacuzzi. They have a complimentary computer room with internet access and a printer, though one of the computers didn't work right. There's also a well-stocked "Sweet Shop" where you can buy food and drinks (including alcohol) for an expectedly higher price.

Only complaints were:

- No service elevator, so cleaning staff were constantly taking up the elevators with their large carts.
- Took a loooooooong time for them to clean our rooms (until 4 in the afternoon)
- Cleaning staff just enter the rooms randomly without knocking first.

Got off my plane to fort lauderdale at 10:30pm local time, got to the hotel at 11:20~ish after picking up my rental car.  Go to the front door and it's locked.  Walk around to the side door.  locked.  back door.  locked.  other side door (as I'm thinking I'll have to sleep in the rental car) and it's locked too but I can see a security guard inside who happened to be walking nearby.  So i knock on the door and he comes over and lets me in.  Which is a good thing.  But they don't win any points from me for their handling of late-night arrivals.

The lady at the counter is polite and checks me in.  I get my keycard, go back to the rental car, and use the key card to open the guests-only garage.  Fortunately, theres a bridge from the parking garage to the main hotel building at each level so i don't have to carry my bags down three flights of stairs and then go inside and come back up.  So that was nice.

The room was clean and had a fridge and microwave, which is always a good thing when you're trying to be frugal while traveling.  their tv is all-paid content, which sucks.  The worst part is their wifi - at the counter the lady handed me an envelope for my key card with an access code on it and made a point of saying that it was my "ticket for high speed internet".  Now maybe if this was 1992 this place's internet might have been "high speed".  Not in 2011.  I've seriously connected on dialup modems faster then this.  For reference, Yelp pages take 1-2 minutes to load as opposed to the .5 seconds they take on my home or office wifi.

Obviously a connection speed that slow makes watching netflix or hulu or other online video impossible, which is probably the point.  As I said, all the content available on the in-room tv system is fee-based and hotels make a lot of money on that.  providing genuine high speed internet would cut into that revenue stream.  Call it cynicism if you want, but I am not impressed.

That said, the room was nice enough and the fridge and microwave go a long way.  And not everyone cares about wifi speeds.  I'd just rather be watching a movie then ranting on yelp so I'm grouchy.

Needed a place to stay the night after a show at Revolution, and this Hampton Inn fit the bill.

Lots of parking in the guests-only garage (room key access), convenient bridges between the garage and the hotel, and although slightly annoying at times - you must swipe your room key to get the elevator to go anywhere but the lobby. There's a small pool on the second floor that I didn't have time to enjoy, but quite a few people did.

The room itself has a slight tinge of wet moldiness smell to it, but nothing to make you change rooms. The beds were super comfy, the tub had some wear but the bathroom was overall very clean, and we were equipped with wi-fi, a fridge, and a microwave along with the normal hairdryer, iron, ironing board. We had a room fairly close to the elevator and it was still very quiet.

They have a small store downstairs with chips, soup, ice cream, beer, etc but I didn't check many of the prices, and then they offer free breakfast! Eggs, turkey sausage, french toast sticks, make your own waffles, cereal and oatmeal, fruit, and lots of carbage - bagels, muffins, danish, etc.

Not a bad hotel within walking distance of las olas bars and whatnot. We walked there in the light (a few friendly homeless) and walked back in the middle of the night (cops & cars everywhere, not many people on the street) and didn't have any problems, but I woudn't suggest doing it alone.

Good hotel but I likely wouldn't stay here again. I come to Fort Dale to just relax twice a year and will often use Hilton Honors points. The next tier during my last trip got me an ocean view, sliding doors opening to inlet, coffee on-site, etc.

Pro: nice guys at front desk, very large room, less than $20 cab ride to airport, clean room, quiet (even with train and bus station nearby), free web, nice pool
Con: no late checkouts (even though noticeably slow), horrible lighting, dated furnishings/finishes, lame view, tiny hottub, super warm hallways, slow elevator with cleaning staff bouncing between floors, somewhat seedy location. I met some people in the elevator who had CVS bags. They walked it and laughed about how they felt somewhat safe because there were cops pulling someone over.

What a suprise. I pay the same place in a nearby location for dumpy hotel, as it costs to stay here. This place turned out to be lovely!

The rooms are clean, the hotel is clean. The staff were so friendly.

and guess what... FREE BREAKFAST! Which usually is never a concern of mine, but when on a hangover suddenly becomes important!

Location is dead centre of Fort Lauderdale Downtown. I will return if drinking in the area for sure!

The Hampton Inn Downtown was my "home-away-from-home" for a year, and for several full weeks each month.  The location was ideal, a quick walk around the corner to my office, an easy cab or rental car ride from FLL and a nice walk to Las Olas Boulevard's restaurants and nightlife.  Rooms are comfortable, and don't vary by very much between Hampton properties.  Generally, the management and front desk were always friendly and cooperative.  When you stay in a place that frequently, getting to know the management gets you what you need on those occasions where the one or two uncooperative clerks were working the front desk.

Although I walked the neighborhood alone and after dark frequently, and never with a real problem, the Greyhound bus station is a few blocks away and the area fills with homeless folks after dark.  Entering the building or using the parking garage or elevators requires a room key.

The "slight tinge of wet moldiness smell" observed by a fellow Yelper is a feature of South FL in general, this place is kept clean.  Robert S.'s observation about the cleaning crew not using their service elevator is true, and sometimes they don't knock before entering a room.  There is a nicely stocked mini market next to the front desk, and many an evening was spent enjoying a beer at poolside with coworkers.  They had, and may still have, a nice open reception every evening with free appetizers, beer, soda and wine-- a very nice touch.  The motel is well-kept and generally quiet, breakfast is decent and the staff is nice.

I'm going to start off my review by saying this review is getting 2 stars due to the homeless problem that I think anyone looking to stay here should know. The hotel literally had 10-15 homeless people sleeping directly across the street. I have to say this was completely off putting. I was in town for an international judo tournament and stayed for a week. The hotel staff was very friendly. The hotel room was clean, plain, but clean. But again, every night there are many homeless outside.

We are Hilton HHonors members and are always pleased with our stays at all of their locations, especially the Hampton Inn at Fort Lauderdale. The rooms are impeccably clean. The staff is friendly and courteous.

There is a pool and hot tub on location, which does not make you feel like you are staying in the middle of town. The lounge style seating gives a bungalow feel. The pool is a nice size. While the jacuzzi could be bigger, we must remember that we are in Florida!

Amenities include; a full liquor bar, continental breakfast, 24 hour coffee station and a small area that offers snacks and beverages for sale. My favorite aspect is that in order to access the parking garage you need your room key. I can rest my head (on my super fluffy pillows) knowing that my vehicle is safe and secure from any potential crime or vandalization.

I highly recommend this hotel for both families and business travelers.

Pros: Nice hotel for about $90/night.  Nice staff.  Can walk to water way and other areas for food and boat ride.

Cons: neighborhood that surrounds hotel  has many homeless people on the streets.  (So do you really want to be walking around there?)  And in the morning, expect to hear lots of loud doors slamming at all hours as the walls are paper thin!

2.5 stars.

I'm spoiled. When I got to a hotel, this is what I expect. I mean, it's a comfortable room, cozy hotel bar. Nothing to hate, nothing love. I can't stress enough how good this place is. I've been doing business travel for years, this is what I expect a room to be like. Stay somewhere else and you will have a rude awakening. This hotel has free wi-fi. That alone gives me the warm feeling. Though you have to pay for parking, and it's par for this area

A bit outdated ... The room was clean and the bed was comfortable though the bathroom needed a serious facelift. Breakfast was a nice touch, though for the price I will definitely look at other lodging options on my next visit to Ft.Lauderdale.

Stayed here before my cruise late October 2014. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The manager even helped us print out boarding passes for our cruise which we completely forgot about! Even though our cab ride to this hotel from the airport was pricey! $20 to be exact! We were super happy to find out that we were able to book a free shuttle ride to port Everglades from the hotel. They also set up a shuttle to pick us up at the port and take us to the airport after our cruise for just $7. I thought that was a pretty good deal! Even though we were pleased with the interior and staff of the hotel..the outside was a little ehhh.. I gave this hotel 4 stars because it was a little disturbing to see bums outside our window shooting up early in the morning. Lol  crazy.. Smh.. Never expected that. But if you're looking for a hotel to stay in for a night or two..waiting on your cruise..this hotel is pretty good.

This hotel is entirely 100%...acceptable.

The location is good if you are downtown, and close to the courthouse--although not walking distance.

As I said, the hotel is everything you would expect from a Hampton Inn.  It is clean and has all the normal amenities.  The rooms are decently sized with nice beds and bedding.  The bathroom could use a little updating, but is fine.  The rooms are decent, but certainly not memorable.

One up-side of this hotel was a nice free breakfast buffet -- pre-made omlettes, breakfast potatos, bacon, and make-your-own waffles.

Also, standard checkout is noon -- which is nice.

All in all, this is a decent hotel and I would stay here again--but, I might try to find something downtown with more appeal.

Hilton and Hampton brands; always happy with our stays.

-Not far from airport, about 15 min( no shuttle, about a 20 cab ride)
- Check in was very swift. We were greeted by the very friendly and sweet Keandra who was an absolute pleasure to deal with and very helpful I might add.
- The young gentleman were very friendly and helpful too, providing maps, directions and recommendations.
-Received two little bottles of water.

-Nice outdoor pool on the second floor.
-Tiny little whirlpool
- Lounge chairs with towels on them and decent size towels.
- complimentary breakfast, waffle station, apples, etc or a to go bag.
-24 hour business center.
- Free wi-fi

Rooms are adequate. Nice size and clean.
Flat screen tv's with plenty of channels including HBO.
Microwave, mini fridge and in room safe.

Complimentary shuttle over to the cruise ports. They give you a time and a coupon.

Our room was right by a cute little balcony looking off into the city.

Would certainly stay here again.

Nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. It was a quiet hotel. Nice bar section too. The morning breakfast is your typical Hampton Inn breakfast. The bacon though tasted like cardboard. Nice little gym room with newer equipment. Pool area was also nice. Jacuzzi is kind of small.

Having been on a plane all day I chose the very first place to catch my eye.   This Hampton Inn was great - yeah a bit old timely - but very clean - the most comfortable bed I've slept in a while - the best thing was the clean and fresh bedding.  It smelt and felt clean and fresh.

Clean room but it is in need of updating.  There is only one outlet with three plugs in the room along with an outlet in the bathroom.  Not enough.  Also, I'm used to getting bottled water when I check in at other Hilton properties with my silver status.  Here I got a drink coupon for the bar so I guess that's something but I'd rather have water.  Maybe it's a Florida thing- pay to park and no airport shuttle.  Bar food menu is fair.

Last night, during a business trip, I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Ft. Lauderdale.  As a Hilton Honors member I try to book all of my travel at Hilton Hotels or their affiliates.  I booked this particular hotel because of it's great location.  However, this was not one of Hilton's best efforts.  The hallway air conditioning didn't work, I couldn't get my room cooler than 73 degrees, and two of the three elevators were inoperable.  Due to the inoperable elevators it took over a 10 minute wait to get from my room on the 11th floor to the lobby.  I am confident Hilton will get the bugs worked out, but sooner would be better than later.

This is a nice hotel in a good location. Walking distance to Las Olas, convenient to the airport and a shuttle to the cruise terminal.  We received a drink coupon for the bar and enjoyed the free breakfast.   I do not recommend taking the shuttle to the airport.  Hampton needs to contract with a different shuttle service.  We purchased a ride on the noon shuttle and the shuttle coordinator was threatening to leave without us before 11:30am. Very disorganized and unpleasant but the Hampton staff is very nice.

Musty smelling rooms, could use some spring cleaning, very friendly staff, elevators are possessed & work sporadically, excellent swimming area- very clean, okay breakfast with disorganized layout, coffee is terrible, free (although tight) secured garage parking with room key, about 10 blocks from downtown shopping. This hotel is obviously for vacation travelers and not geared toward business travelers. The only outlets I could find were being the bed and the outlet covers were falling off.
Something that made me feel uncomfortable was the guy cleaning the pool area this morning had a broom in his hands and a cigarette in his mouth. I thought this was extremely unprofessional and contributed to the overall dirty feeling I got from this hotel.
I've stayed at many other Hilton properties, including Hampton Inn, but have to say that this is my all time least favorite property.

The staff could not do enough for you. We did pre and post cruise stay. It is in a funky part of Ft Lauderdale but we had our car . Can not beat the cleanliness of room and a little bar area to have a drink. Went to Thai Spice which was crazy good from hotel 3 miles or so driving distance .
