Needed a place for one night, and the Holiday Inn Express successfully did the job. Friendly service, roomy, and CLEAN, free breakfest, and really close to the airport.  Also has free wireless internet, workout room, and nice outdoor pool. Overall, good experience.

Nice place, clean and newer. So far my stay here has been good and uneventful, which is what you want a hotel far from home to be. It's close to where I need to be which is closer than work is from home so that's a nice plus. The mini fridge is a little loud, like a mini-washing machine, but I unplugged it last night and that helped. Also the tub didn't seem to drain correctly and I was standing in about 4. I hate that. In any case, other than that, I have a king size bed with nice soft sheets, four pillows and plenty of space in the room for all my stuff. Plenty of towels in the room since it's only just me. Now if I could only get some sleep.

I think this used to be a DAYS INN.  I've stayed at nicer HI Expresses; they let the hot bar go in the morning so they ran out of key pieces of the experience.  Room was fine, sheets and beds were comfy.  Got the job done.  Printer broken in the computer room.

I was part of a large group and they pick us all up at the airport no questions and took us back. The staff put out Breakfast a hour early for us and it was much appreciated. rooms where clean and smell free.

Nice clean hotel.  Breakfast is pretty good for one of those free ones.  Microwave and fridge included.

We needed a place to park while we were going to get on plane and were looking for a place close to the airport. This place was surprisingly good. Nice pool, great friendly service (helped us find a rental car and find things to do), huge rooms, gym, free internet, free shuttles to the airport, free breakfast and the biggest thing for me...it is very clean. What's not to like?

I pay for travel out of my own pocket, so value for price is important. One Saturday night here was $143 with tax, 'best rate' thru Priority Club. No newspaper provided on weekend. Despite making reservation for 2, only one pack of coffee in room. Road noise from SR84 is fairly loud but not unexpected. The typical under-window AC unit is controlled by a wall thermostat, and the solenoid is about 4' from your head when sleeping, loud enough to wake you up multiple times. If that doesn't disturb your sleep, the AC runs at about 90dB, never heard a window unit this loud. On the plus side, it blows extremely cold air. However, if cleaning crew left your bathroom door closed, expect temps to be 85-90* in the bathroom, there's no air circulation or ventilation fan whatsoever (review based on room 224). King bed is nice, tons of elbow room, fridge, microwave. WiFi is painfully slow, tried it on 3 different devices.  From a physical security standpoint, I certainly wouldn't want a room on the first floor; the fire door exit to parking lot at bottom of stairwell cannot be closed; the steel fire door is bent, and the door is open to the public 24/7... so yes, in this marginal part of town, anybody has access to the hotel, anytime.

Very clean. Ginormous bed. I could've slept sideways on it and my legs wouldn't have hung off the side. :O Includes a microwave and fridge (which I'm kinda sad about because I left my apples in there ;_; ), a pretty sizable living-room-ish area + bathroom. Each room also comes with an iron/ironing board, so that was pretty convenient.

Continental breakfast includes yogurt, pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, bananas, coffee, 3 different types of juice, different teas... There's also a business center where you can use their computers and/or print stuff, a fitness center and a pool. Free wifi and free shuttle to/from the airport and to/from the school. Super-friendly staff. They made checking out a breeze and hold your stuff for you if you need to disappear for the better half of the day, even if you've already checked out.

All for a discounted rate of $69/night. :D!

The location could be nicer.  There are not very much places to go within walking distance.  The rates are good, the room was clean, helpful staff, and free Internet.  They have a nice breakfast included with the stay also.

Spent 2 nights at this Holiday Inn Express, and I have to agree with fellow reviewers.  It's a clean, bright, hotel that's inexpensive.  $139 / nt, including free wifi, parking, and breakfast?  Can't get much better in my book.  My room had a slight odor when i walked in, but I got used to it quick enough - and it wasn't bad enough to ask them to switch me.  Didn't go swimming, but the pool was really tempting.

The hotel is right across from a supermarket, Thai Place, some shopping, and some good Chinese take out!

Bed was super comfy, and the TV had a LOT of channels.  More than my Silver package at home has.

Pet Peeve of mine:  Why are there never outlets near the bed!?  You KNOW i'm going to want my phone near me, but I'm also going to want to charge it.  I hate having to move the nightstand and unplug something to plug in my phone.  Can't you get those lamps with the plugs built in?  /end rant/

Next time I'm in town for business I'll stay here again.

The good:
Quick checkin.  Reasonable price.  They were able to get us a shuttle to the cruise.

The bad:
Stuffy room. Windows don't open. Paint fumes. Shuttle from air port not labeled well.

The gentleman who picked me from the airport was very nice.  Too bad the van smelled like feet!

Check in was nice and easy and of course being an IHG rewards member- I got my nice welcome bag with some snacks and water!!!

Rooms are clean, and my room smelled nice and fresh.  Housekeeping could have done a better job with the vacuum as I had  little bits of stuff on the carpet when I walked in and a stray from what looked like the mop on the tile.  I had to unplug the coffee machine and had to dig around behind the microwave and it was spotless back there!!

For a call at 7:30 from Allen, the shuttle drive to confirm I would be riding the shuttle at 8am.  What a great touch.  Thanks, Allen!!

Breakfast is included with the room, and they have a nice selection of hot food items along with the muffins, make tour own French toast, and breads.  My favorite had to been the cinnamon rolls. Nothing compared to that store you find in the mall, but what can I say?  I got eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee, and a banana to go, all included.  There were families in the dining area with 2-3 kids a piece!  So you know it's a great value.  I was set to start my day and brought my own to go mug and got some coffee to go!!

Allen drove a different vehicle so I wasn't  subjected to that "feet" smell.

The room was very clean and large.  The bed was comfortable.   The breakfast was norm for Holiday Inn - but the break room was extremely clean.

Why not 5 stars - the only issue I had was with the airport shuttle.  When I called up prior to making a reservation I asked how late the shuttle runs.   They said it runs 24/7 - you call when you are ready (and have your bags) and they'll pick me up.   I walked over to the hotel shuttle area, called them up - and waited 45 minutes to be picked up.   It was extremely hot and humid (not the hotel's fault).   Almost had a fiasco the next morning as well.   I went down at the desk and told them I needed a shuttle back to the airport.   They said it's every hour on the hour (which would have been nice to know when I made my initial phone call to the hotel (or if the evening shuttle driver gave us that information).    Fortunately, I went down for the shuttle at 6:55 am - so I only had a 5-minute wait - and this driver was on time and the trip to the airport was prompt.

Okay, I'm going to tell you all now - Fort Lauderdale sucks ass.  It's as simple as that, and I will never return to this place as long as I live.  But.... if you HAVE to be here, this hotel is as nice a place to stay as any.

I was moved from my original room (313) because the television wasn't working properly - they had no issue with helping me and even apologized quite a bit for the problem.  I was moved to 419, where everything worked just fine.  The amenities were as expected for a 130/night hotel - satellite television, continental breakfast (they had a good variety), and an hourly (free) airport shuttle.  I was satisfied with the service and accommodation.

It's across the street from a Winn-Dixie and a few other restaurants, so you'll have a choice in food if you feel like walking a bit.  Be careful with crossing the highway - it's pretty busy.

As I said, I will never come back to Fort Lauderdale (unless I have to) for any reason.  But if you're forced to, stay here - it's not too bad.

Although I am staying at the Hotel next door, I will review on the count that they let me use their pool and even gave me a card to go in and out, even after I told them I am in another hotel. Super friendly and just awesome!

I guess they are somehow connected to the Hotel Next Door that I am staying in. I just came in and asked how much would it be to use their  pool and the young lady (in front of the Manager) said, Oh no charge. And here I was trying to be all quite and secretive about it, in case I had to slip her a $20 but no, she was quite pleasant and even said, keep the card if you need to use it for later. WOW!

I so wish I would of just stood here, but I didn't. Next time though I will, with service like that, you can never go wrong. Kudos to the staff for being so well trained and just plain nice!

AND THEY HAVE A POOL! I Oh that's what the post was about rigvht?

If you are going on a cruise and need to park your...choose another hotel. You will pay $10 a night if you don't get the parking package. Even though it is $5 cheaper than the port it's still ridiculous since a better hotel, same price, offers up to 21 days free. Unfortunately I booked through Priceline express deals ( I had a coupon ) and this hotel was the winning bidder. :( I tried asking if I could upgrade to the park and cruise package they offer but since I booked through a 3rd party they refused to do anything. The young guy at the front desk who checked us in was not personable and acted as if we were bothering him. Another older gentlemen overheard our situation and offered to help by giving us a better discount on the parking. I also signed up for the shuttle to the port but come to find out he didn't do it. Luckily the lady rounding up everybody for the All Stars shuttle was amazing and took care of us. The front desk guy also was supposed to "register" our car to be parked there for 14 days and didn't do it. We would have come back to our car already towed! Luckily I double check most things. Like the saying, "trust but verify".

The hotel room was clean and same ol' holiday inn although the hallway was damp and musty. I was expecting out room to be disgusting. The breakfast was complimentary but don't expect anything other than the norm. ( remember ) At least it's complimentary.

Beware when making reservations over the phone to make sure your reservation you will have the right to cancel with a refund.  I booked 2 rooms back in November 2014 and unfortunately had to cancel 4 days before our trip due to an illness.  Because I prepaid for the rooms they will not give a refund OR even a discounted rate on another future reservation.  I cancelled these reservations online and printed out the cancellation page but it doesn't even mention the fact that it was a non refundable reservation.  I am very disappointed in Holiday Inn and their policies.  I feel like I gave plenty of notice and they have had every opportunity to do the right thing.  This is why I will only stay at the Hilton or other hotel chains.

I'd definitely stay here again.  The location was convenient and our room was nice enough -- clean and fresh. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the free wifi. There was plenty of parking adjacent to the hotel as well.

While it's not as close to the airport as was advertised, it was still a quick trip back to drop off our rental car.   It's attractive enough with a South Florida paint scheme inside and out and while located on a busy street our room was quiet enough. There's shopping center across the street with some restaurants as well as gas stations (for filling up the rental car) adjacent to hotel. It's a straight shot then to the Cruise Terminal (too far to consider walking at all) and was convenient to Las Olas Blvd and Wilton Manors.

The staff wasn't overly friendly but was courteous enough and efficient, and our room was very nice, with a view of a palm tree and the pool area.  We encountered no problems during our stay and were overall very pleased.  Next time I may try the Crowne Plaza, which has a better location but was unfortunately booked full the night we stayed.

The breakfast buffet was okay, nothing special but better than the stale cereal I've had elsewhere and counted as a "real" breakfast.  It was crowded when we went, so we sat by the pool which was great.   I didn't use the pool or fitness center but they looked nice enough.

The housekeeper stole my clothes. like, ALL of my clothes. My bathing suit, jeans, 2 tank tops, yoga pants.... Realized when I got home and unpacked my half empty bag. So I call. Management or whoever tells me they are not responsible? Don't even know how to react to this...

I would give 4 stars. But I'm only being nice and giving 3. because I feel if the rooms are going to be at this price a night. The TV should have at least 1 sport channel for game viewing.
So I give  3 star for full filling guest all around needs

I stayed here for three recent work trips. And every experience got better and better. They have nice and clean rooms, free wifi and a pool (though I never have time to use it).

My first stay here had a few set backs. I was dead tired when checking in and my work didn't send the right paperwork.

The people at the front desk had zero patience to help me, and I felt extremely irritated. But they let me check and the problem was resolved the next morning.

My second stay had some hiccups too but not the fault of the staff. I was on the second floor and was woken up several by loud laughing and door slamming by the other guests. This hotel is by the airport not the beach where party animals go.

I called the front desk and they did everything possible to fix the issue. I was offered a new room on a different floor but the culprits checked out the next day.

My third stay went smooth and the people there started to remember me and chat with me like a regular.

The free morning breakfast is pretty awesome in comparison to other hotels. Many places offer cereal and fruit, but this holiday inn express has pancakes, biscuits n gravy, and other hot foods. It is far from a cooked meal but a nice amenity to save some money and not eat out everyday.

I always fly early at like 6:20 so I picked this on location since I have to return a rental car. I think my drive to Ft Lauderdale airport is like 8 minutes which I love.

I also have driven up to Deerfield Beach, Ft Lauderdale beach, found an outlet mall, and spotted a few good places to eat.

If you can't afford a hotel on the beach, this is a wonderful hotel near the airport and with a friendly staff!

This is a nice hotel if you're in the area, and looking for somewhere not on the beach, but not too far away from it, either.

It's a quiet hotel, mostly near non-commercial businesses, which probably contributes to the quiet.  It's only a mile or so away from restaurants and shopping, or a few miles from Pompano Beach, which makes it a good choice if the beach is not your only destination.

I think most of the people here were on their way to or from the nearby airport, or were working in the area, so it isn't a touristy hotel in the classic sense.  The breakfast buffet is decent enough, with some hot food choices, but finding a place to sit during a peak breakfast period is a challenge.  The internet worked well.  On the TV, you'll get the basic cable channels and a few extra, so this is not a hotel to stay if you absolutely cannot miss your favorite cable show.

The rooms are nice enough, with standard color schemes and amenities, but it was clean with plenty of towels.  My only ding might be that if you plan on coming back to your room after housekeeping has been through, best keep your "do not disturb" on the door, as housekeeping is always stopping back to check on whether they left enough towels.    Not sure why they can't keep track of that on their log sheet, though.

It's a decent hotel, nice staff, internet that works, and an okay location for the price.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Loved the beachy feel of the lobby and it was such a breeze getting to the airport nearby. They have a shuttle also if you want to use. Room was very classy and the bed was so comfortable. I travel on business and would definitely stay here again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Good value for the price.
