Phillips Petroleum/ Phillips 66 purchased 22 acres of mangrove swamp for the purpose of establishing a fulll service gas station for watercraft.
In 1959 the hotel opens as a Pier 66 with 100 rooms.  Today this section is known as the Marina Building.  The Tower was added in 1965.
The 17 story structure was hailed as an architectural and engineering masterpiece for its time. The "timeless crown" at the top of the tower became one of the most famous landmarks in South Florida, offering 360-degree views of Fort Lauderdale as the floor circulated once every 66 minutes. Over the years the property has been modernized and enhanced with the addition of guest rooms, a spa, meeting space, pools and restaurants.

This Hyatt is very nice, but not the best in the area. This Hyatt is "older" but it has been recently renovated. The lanai rooms are by the pool, and have nice patios. My room was 650+ sq. ft. and the shower was 8x8. The tower has a great view of the ocean and yachts. It's away from the center of FLL action, so don't plan on walking anywhere. Staff was great. I didn't do any spa action. $85 a night /4 nights on priceline.

Was very wary of staying at this Hotel due to several mixed reviews and also some on-site renovations at that time (April 2009). Actually was dead set against it, but then decided to risk it since it was only 1 night prior to a cruise and the price was excellent. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! We had a super cute room, very clean and modern (i believe it was a garden room) and the water taxi was a wonderful way to get to the main drag for dinner. I think my friend woke up to some loud voices in the middle of the night, but I slept like a charm. Yes, the shower wasn't the best design and got water on the floor (a review I previously read) but this wasn't the end of the world...just be careful not to slip! The pool area was nice and the customer service agents were good and the concierge recommended a wonderful restaurant downtown for dinner (this was awhile ago so I can't recall which one). DEFINITELY take advantage of the water taxi. We also took a regular cab back from downtown one morning and it was affordable. We did not eat on-site so no comment on that. You can walk to the drugstore for snacks and water from here though. HOWEVER, my one complaint and an unforgettable one at that since I am writing this almost 2 years later, happened upon departure...we hailed a cab to take us to the very nearby cruise terminal (mind you, this was way closer than our cab ride from the downtown area) and the curbside valet put the two of us in an empty taxi VAN....he ushered us over and loaded our bags and it was a done deal...no one gave us a rate, we just followed his lead, trusting him. BIG MISTAKE! This short van ride for the two of us was like $38 dollars or something just absurd....definitely more than the longer cab ride we took from downtown just that morning. Was not a great way to start our day on the cruise....we felt stuck with the bill because we were already there...again this ride was only about 2-3 miles! It was a total ripoff and I blame the hotel's valet for putting us in it in the first place. SO, go ahead stay here before or after a cruise...just make sure you snag a regular cab yourself or discuss rates in advance. Buzz kill to a great stay.

I stayed here with rewards points, so I may be a little biased since everything was free, but I thought it was great. The garden/pool area was gorgeous and the marina view from the room was also fabulous. Only negative is that it isnt closer to the beach, but there is a free shuttle. The shuttle runs every hour up until 6 o clock and drops you off near the Bahia Mar Hotel (right across the street from beach). A pro of this is that the shuttle takes you to a less crowded beach area than all of the fancier hotel/resorts north of Las Olas. There is also a 50cent per person trolley that leaves from the Hess Station across from the hotel and stops at several beach areas (and shopping, etc).

Had a positive experience here... ask for a remodeled room in the tower, not the garden section, which seems older and probably gets more noise from the pool area.  Slept like a baby on their plush sheets and down pillows, bath products were decent, towels fresh, service was great.  During check-in I happened to mention my sketchy taxi ride from the airport and the manager Louis from that point onward made it is his special mission to ensure I had a very pleasant stay, which I did.  Was going to stay somewhere cheaper at the end of my visit but I ended up keeping my room here instead because it was too comfortable to leave.  Definitely a deal if you can book ahead through a web special or other discount method.  View of the waterways from the tower rooms are really nice as well.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a pleasant experience. The staff was nice and very accommodating. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pool area was large with a lot of lounge chairs.  The location is really great. Even though you aren't right on the beach you are about a mile and half from the beach. You also have easy access to I-95, US1 and A1A. The only thing I didn't like was when we arrived in the evening and went to their main restaurant, Pier 66 it was closed at 9:30pm when actually the hours said 10pm which was frustrating because we had been traveling all day and were starving.

After being on our boat for two weeks, we rewarded ourselves with three nights here. A call on the radio had two dock hands standing by at our slip and within minutes we were delivered to check in and only moments later we were in our very nice room. I'd requested something overlooking the marina so I could keep an eye on our boat just for the fun of it. Room service then delivered a perfectly cooked and tasty steak. I had trouble hooking up the their wifi signal, but a call to the front desk resolved the issue in short order. Every hotel staff member was friendly and a pro at what they did. Kudos to all there.

I had to stay here becuase a vendor was having their user conference at this hotel.  For the nightly rate of $259 a night, I would expect much more.  This was an ok hotel, but definately not worth that.  In addition to this, they charged a daily fee to have your car parked their, which annoyed me.  One day when they had a cruise depart from this pier, I could not find parking.  So that aggrevated me even more that I was being charged for parking and I couldnt find parking.  Also the gym is a joke.  They state that their GYM is state of the art.  It had maybe a total of 5 pieces of gym equipement and 7 cardio equipment.  Some of the cardio equipment had a massive amount of Rust on it.  The gym also had a Shake Weight, which I thought was comical.  I thiink that this hotel really is only a $150 a night kind of hotel.  The lobby was pretty and nice.  Also one other major complaint i had, when we had to register for the User Conference, they didnt even have enough sense to put the Vendor Name on the board of events...kinda common sense.....

I am a spa-nista so I know a good one when I experience it. The service at this location was so so. I was turned off a bit that they automatically add 20% service fee to your services.

The shower was just like home instead of offering multiple shower heads or body sprays or more forceful pressure. They offered nice smelling body wash.

My massage was the worst I have experienced. I kept having to remind the lady to apply less pressure. After a while I thought she was just really being rude.

remember coming here as a kid and riding the elevator to the top and being amazed. stayed here for a best friends bachelorette party, double beds, room was pretty small, facing intercoastal, lobby felt dirty with nasty sofas and chairs, room wasnt ready by 4pm, annoying. its just A ok, other hyatts are better than this franchise

I've stayed at this hotel 2 years in a row when I've gone to Ft. Lauderdale on business trips. My company gets comp rooms here, so I might be a bit biased seeing as how I didn't have to come out-of-pocket to stay here. This hotel is great. I've stayed here once before renovations and once after; both times I have really enjoyed myself. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful and the hot-tub at the pool is great!

I've stayed in the tower rooms and also in the garden rooms. The tower room is a little nicer but overall it's not a huge difference. The rooms are decorated in warm browns and neutrals. The bed is ridiculously comfortable. If only I weren't there on business, maybe I could have gotten some more sleep! The bathroom was also very nice. Deep brown tiles covered both the floor and wall; the sink was made of mahogany wood. The toilet was separate from the sink and shower. It was actually behind a glass door inside the bathroom. I thought that was pretty cool. The room itself had a flat screen television and if I can remember correctly there was wireless internet, although I never got a chance to utilize it. The view from the balcony was nice, nothing spectacular. At night it was pretty though.

I wish the hotel was a little closer to the beach, but there is a steady flow of taxi's coming and going from the hotel so it's a quick ride to the ocean. If you're not in the mood for sand and waves there is the hotel pool. Did I mention the hot tub was awesome? There is also a section of the pool that is heated as well, minus the bubbles and jets.

The hotel lobby is gorgeous. It has a bar/restaurant but I never got a chance to visit it. There is all the usual shops that most hotels have. I ended up spending $200 on a bikini. Passing the shop everyday on my way to my room and thought I just had to have it.

Room service offers delicious meals at all hours of the night for an astronomical price. Not that surprised, room service is never cheap.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay there. The hotel is a short drive from the shopping district. Plenty of restaurants and stores to suit most anyone. I'd love to stay at this hotel again, hopefully next time it will be a real vacation.

the location and the hotel public areas were very nice.
we were a little disappointed with our room which was in an older section of the hotel and felt more like a motel (2nd floor of a long exterior walk way)
the shower pressure was just horrible but as we stayed for only 1 night we let it go...but it sure is unacceptable for 4 start hotel to have such water pressure

Nice Hotel. We got in late and were upgraded to a suite without even a word. What a nice surprise. The Hotel staff was polite and helpful. The room, although dated, was clean and well taken care. The hotel sits right on the pier and the grounds are aesthetically pleasing. We would stay here again.

Old but well maintained. This place is an Icon in the area. 5 star service at it's best. Comfy beds, and the grounds are beautiful. I knocked off a star because the room service food wasn't very good. My burger and fries were lousy, but the rest of the stay was top-notch.

Beautiful, trendy hotel.  Loved the views, comfortable beds.  And the FOOD was very delicious at the lobby bar.  EVERYTHING I ordered over the 4 day period was delicious.  The sushi chef and Jamaican cook should be given a raise immediately!!!  I paid $15/night for the upgraded room in the tower.  This suite was worth it!  I will definitely come back to this hotel when I visit the area again.  OBTW, the spa was being renovated during my stay, so I had to go outside in the rain to get to the gym...not cool.

I recently stayed here for a pre-night to a cruise.  It is conveniently located between the airport and the port of Ft. Lauderdale- which are both close proximity to each other anyway.  

Nicely appointed hotel, there are two types of rooms- we had the garden Lanai rooms- which are scattered along the grounds...my friend had a tower room with a view of the cruise port.  Grounds are pretty, they have a few dining options on site, very large pool and nice fitness center- which we didn't use any of them, but just took it all in while walking around.

Staff was very friendly and welcoming and the next morning when it is typically a chaotic atmosphere with cruise passengers all assembling downstairs for taxis- the bellmen had things really under control....

I'd stay here again - no doubt.

I can write a few pages of information about my recent stay here, but I'll keep it kind of short and to the point. I spent close to $15,000 here for my wedding ceremony and reception recently. The person responsible for coordinating our wedding originally was very bad at returning phone calls or emails and eventually quit without notice. This led to my wedding having to be rescheduled because the hotel booked a convention the weekend of my wedding, and my file "fell through the cracks" as quoted by a staff member. I was compensated a small monetary amount and rescheduled the wedding. The days before my wedding the person responsible for coordinating our rooms and guests accommodations did not respond to emails. My wife-to-be at the time and I were booked rooms right next door to each other and then told there were no other rooms available. Our guests weren't allowed to check in until 30mins prior to the ceremony unless they were lucky enough to get an early check-in. My wife-to-be had 3 cards that contained cash and checks that were stolen out of her room, and the manager Glenn Spanier said there was no "evidence" that his employees stole it. He basically blamed my sister-in-law who was the only other person with access because she came in and out of the room a few times. He further stated that it couldn't have been an employee because the employees who had access to the room at the time were all questioned and none of them admitted to it. The staff also disposed of the gifts that we bought for our guests instead of bringing them down to our room like they were supposed to. I was partially compensated for that. All in all, I would not suggest this place to anybody and I would never stay there again. When I initially contacted Glenn Spanier (General Manager) about my situation, he really didn't seem to care about my stay or my disappointment with the hotel and told me nothing more would be done. It's only because I called him that I was given a partial reimbursement for my gifts that were thrown away. After spending nearly $15,000 there I would think that his concern would be to make us happy regarding the theft of our wedding gift cards, but he really could care less. The hotel finish work is very crappy. Fixtures are crooked, paint is old, parking lot looks dirty, and there were a lot of corners cut when they remodeled. Parking is expensive and guests shouldn't be charged to self park. At least the food was good.

This review is for their Sunday brunch at the top.
I like to keep my reviews short and sweet. It will be hard. Let's start with the rotating floor. Yes! You get to see the whole panoram of Fort Lauderdale beach and the ocean and they Intracoastal. If you have a guest you want to show off the awesome place we reside in, bring them here on Sunday.
I suggest starting at 10 am seating. They close I think at 3, so if you do the 12 seating, you will believing with the crew (or maybe it's just us trying to finish off the rest of the champagne!).
The brunch includes a glass of Veuve  Clique champagne later followed of never ending supply of house champagne. And not like in other places: they actually have a champagne cart driving around and keeping an eye on your liquid gold.
They have small plates to start that are out of this place. I loved the little wooden trays you load with the tiny plates. The taste is incredible. They even had foie gras. The is a craving station with a roast, Mac and cheese and some other hot dishes. However, I noticed a great sushi bar, where chef was preparing anything you ordered. While waiting for my shrimp sashimi I noticed a tucked away plate of uni. Uni - I screamed in excitement, for us? Are you serious? The chef assured me that it was part of the brunch. I melted. I had probably 4 plates of just uni: fresh, sweet and buttery uni. My love, and all of that for a mere price of $65. I think they lost money on me that day. But they earned a brunch client forever.
The staff is super sociable, the sushi chef was amazing and even decorated every single plate and hand delivered additional uni plates (oh, stop spoiling me!)
I am there and so should you be.

We booked through Hotwire and was well worth the 116.00 we paid.  Had I paid 150 or more than I would have expected to be in the towers.  It is a 10 to 15 minute walk to shops/restaurants, but we did not mind.  Even took the Sun Trolley around.  I would stay here again.  We were on the 2nd floor/marina side.

My girlfriend and I love this place. We stay here once a year in November. Great view. Great service. cheap for the quality and location. Parking is really expensive though. They charge per car. Not per room. 20 bucks a pop.

This "hotel" is a poorly decorated motel, advertised as a classy hotel. Avoid this place at all costs.

I checked in, went down an ugly outdoor corridor to access my room, and knew immediately I'd made a mistake. There are disgusting, old lawn chairs outside the sliding door, poor landscaping, dirty tiled floors, loud A/C unit, and completely drab and dilapidated furnishings in a tiny room.

I immediately called my office and asked my assistant to find me a hotel room at a Hilton or W.

I called the front desk and told them I was unsatisfied with this room - they commented that the part of the hotel I was in was the most luxurious and recently updated room that they had. They said to come back to the desk (this was within 3 minutes of arriving in the room).

Upon arriving at the front desk, the front desk manager told me that it was too late to get a refund, since i had already checked in (now 5 minutes prior).

I remarked that I would dispute this charge and would not pay them their $250 at any cost. After days of calls to the manager of that property, and Hyatt customer service, I finally got my full refund.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS.

I stayed here during a convention, and was not particularly impressed. My room was in the "cabanas", but they felt more like a motel and I did not feel particularly safe. At $250/night, I was expecting a bit more. I think the pool was nice (didn't get to swim), the food at the bar was decent, and it's within  walking distance of the convention center (across the bridge). Wifi was super slow. I'll probably stay somewhere else next time.

I stayed here for 1 night after flying into FLL late but cruising out of Port of Miami the next day.  It was very close to the airport, $15 cab.  I was able to get the corporate rate for my company which saved us about $90.  The hotel was beautiful and we were quickly given our double bed, marina view room.  This was the only issue, the room was literally at the farthest point of the hotel and the walk seemed endless.  Had we been staying for longer then the night we would have had to switch rooms.

The grounds were very nice, and the pools looked great but we didn't use.  The view from our balcony of the marina was amazing, huge yachts and mansions across the street.  The room itself was fine, comfy beds and a fantastic shower.

I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

I'll admit it...I'm a Ft Lauderdale hater. I grew up about 25 minutes away in Boca Raton and Ft Lauderdale just never really did it for me.  But if you don't mind this part of South Florida the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort & Spa does happen to be in a very good location.  It's right on the water and just a few minutes away from Las Olas Boulevard (one of the few areas of Ft Lauderdale that I do enjoy).  

Although I haven't had the chance to stay at this hotel (I can stay with the parents for free close by) my friend got married here this past weekend.  Friday night's rehearsal dinner was in the hotel lobby, which was a little noisy with the March Madness fans screaming in the lounge above us.  And Saturday night's wedding was at Pier 66, a ballroom overlooking the water.  The cocktail hour took place outside the ballroom right along the water, which was absolutely lovely.  The ballroom itself is pretty neutral so you can do it up as you'd like. And i believe there's another ballroom way up top for those looking for a nice view of South Florida.

Even though I didn't sleep here I was pretty impressed with the service at this hotel.  The valet guys and concierge went out of their way to look into car services for us the night of the wedding  so that us responsible young adults wouldn't have to drink and drive after the wedding.  Unfortunately, one of my friends had to play sober sally when we discovered a car service was $120 from ft lauderdale back to boca! Yikes- we could get a room for that! Well, maybe not during spring break week...

I learned from the guests who were staying at the hotel that half of the hotel is renovated so be sure to request a renovated room when making your reservations! Don't expect anything super fancy here (head to the St Regis for the royal treatment), but if you're looking for a nice enough hotel in a good location this is it....

Booked through priceline @ $75/night.

First impressions: I drove in from St. Petersburg, FL to visit a friend for the weekend and this is where priceline put me.  I pull in to check-in and ask where to park my car...I have a choice now...either $23/night for valet or $19/night for self-park.  $19?!?!?! to park my own car at the hotel I'M STAYING AT?!?! I went with valet...If I'm gonna pay...they're parking it.

Checking in was easy and accommodating.  Priceline booked it as 2 double-beds but I requested a King...no problem.  Nice lil room by the waterway.

Room is decent enough.  Nice bed, comfy pillows, good night sleep.  The TV was also a good size flat-screen.  I had one gripe about the room this morning though, their sun-block curtain definitely let some light in causing me to wake up before I intended to.

Exercise room isn't that spectacular...like something you'd find on a cruise ship.  Went to go get breakfast...it was packed...guess I shouldn't have waited until 9:30am.  Got some cheerios and a water from the gift shop.

All-in-all it's a nice place...just don't drive here.

A nice hotel that's reasonably priced, well appointed and located modestly close to where you want to be in Fort Lauderdale. You still have to drive and park somewhere else if you're going to the beach, so factor that when comparing prices. Parking varies around the area; Hyatt charges $25 for valet and $21 for self-park as of this writing.  The Marina and views are absolutely great; the multiple pools are wonderful, too.

Check in was fine, but staff was not friendly.  Had two connecting rooms in the tower, one being a suite.  The rooms were nice, nice bedding, nice amenities.  Beware; the thermostats are there for show only, they do nothing to affect the temperature of the rooms.  The rooms remained hot, even with the temp set to 60 degrees.  As far as I could tell, there is NO internet at all.  No WiFi signal and no mention of internet in the guest services book.  $21/day for parking is a ripoff.

We stayed over Christmas.

Looks like this place has undergone a recent renovation, and in general, it was a pretty nice stay.

The grounds are pretty large and relaxing with music playing and an active pool area with a bar and cafe open.  Bar and wait staff were very friendly and fun to hang with.   They checked us in and had a room early so that was a plus.  

We arrived on Saturday around noon.  Watch out for the outbound cruisers on the weekends, the lobby gets hectic and nerves grow short.  Just expect it and go with the flow.

Self-park was $20 a day.. which seemed high for this area to me.  

You can walk amongst some large yachts at the local marina.. A couple nice places to eat close by and the beach areas about a mile and a half away.

Go up to the top and check out the view from the lookout... Fort Lauderdale and the cruise ships are all laid before you.

First off, the hotel was our priceline result for both stays when looking for a four star "resort" at around $100. In the end, the hotel is at best a 3 star from what I have stayed in before. Don't let the lobby fool you. It seems to have been the best update to the renovation and lets you think that the rooms will reflect the decor, which is not the case. The first time we stayed there we stayed in the tower which was fine. The bed was extremely comfortable for those that like fluffy, very soft beds so that was an extreme perk for me. The bathroom is split into two separate areas; one for the toilet, the rest for the shower and sink which I liked, and was very clean. As for the view it was incredible. My best recommendation when landing a room in the tower is making sure you ask for a view of the pool and boats and you are above the 9th floor.

For our second stay we booked two nights and decided to try one of the Lanai rooms. We were told by the front desk that they were the nicest and had the best view. Unfortunately when we got to our room we felt like we were in a cheap beach motel. The floor was all tile and a strange odor seemed to linger around the room. Also, our view which should have been the pool was a large plant. I'm sure there are other Lanai rooms that are great, but ours was not so we went back to the front desk. Luckily the staff is extremely friendly and helpful so they put us back in the tower almost in the same room we had the first time we stayed.

Nevertheless, the customer service at the hotel is outstanding. They are helpful with directions and will try to fulfill any requests you have when choosing a room at check-in. The maids are also extremely sweet and will clean the room when you want them to and won't bang on your door all morning.

Few more tips: For those of you who booked on priceline, the continental breakfast is not available to you and if you do want it you need to notify the front desk when you check in. Parking is $19/day if you self-park or $24/day to valet in the same exact lot which is a thirty second walk from the front door.

Only reason we stayed here is because we got a really good deal.  The room was okay - it wasn't as clean as i felt it should be for a Hyatt.  The pool was nice but definitely could use upgrading.
the guy at the front desk charged us a $700.00 hold because instead of putting it on one...he put it on both.  We were unable to rent a car due to this inconvenience and i will tell you we had seriously poor customer service.  We went to the front desk about 8 times due to parking charges as well as the hold for the room and they offered nothing to compensate us, which i thought was really poor customer service.
The cafe was good but very pricey... we went to a store and bought alcohol and some snacks so we weren't eating out all of the time.

Old Style Ft. Lauderdale charm.

I love this place. As a child my folks took us here just to ride the elevator up to the iconic bar that does a 360 every hour. Remind you this was before Walt Disney World and Universal Studios were around and riding this elevator was a real treat. Fast forward now 40 years and this hotel is all remodeled and jazzed up. The check in area is pretty inviting with soft colors and people just bustling around. First thing that hits me is how big the hotel is. Most people only see the main tower, but to the north is two huge pools that are surrounded by a maze of two story hotel rooms. To the east is two restaurants, a big parking lot and tons of boat slips.

Check in was fast and I was pleasantly surprised with our room. We were on the second floor in the garden area of the hotel with an awesome view of the pool. The room was pretty damn big. We had a king size bed and plenty room to move around. It was obvious everything in the room was remodeled, just a cozy space.

My wife and I went to one of the restaurants on property, Pelicans Landing and it's F'ing outstanding, see my review on that. Also, I had a few drinks at the bar located in hotel lobby. The reason why I mention this is because the bartender was the coolest dude. I forgot his name, but he has been working there for, I think, over 20 years. He a Spanish guy with a pit bull that he kept bragging about. What a nice guy and a kick ass bartender.

My only downer was I couldn't ride the F'ing elevator. The top floor is closed all week except Sundays when they do an ultra expensive brunch. I was so close but yet so far... MOFOS....LOL. Other than that, glad to see this the old school beauty still has it's charm.

Remember to tell the bartender with the pit bull, who got his cookie stolen, helped a drunk former employee and her friend who puked on the floor next to us who are studying to be a lawyers, and who is retiring in a few years that Dan sent you and Stay Hungry!

We stayed here for one night before we left on a cruise.  For a one night stay this is not worth the price you pay.  There were some great points about this place.  It has a fantastic pool.  It was beautiful and very refreshing on the hot day.  The layout of the hotel is very long for walking.  It took us forever to lug our bags to our room.  We were offered a "Marina View"... but on the second floor, a marina view is a yacht in your window... taking up the entire view.  So we got to watch a few guys washing a really big boat.  The bathroom was very outdated and was in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint.  The hotel offers 3 or 4 restaurants (one was under rehab, while we were there).  Two of the restaurants were ridiculously overpriced.  We walked over the bridge to get something more reasonable.  The staff was "ok"... not bad, just kind of there.  The exception to this was the bartenders in the lobby bar.  They were friendly and inviting. There was a spa onsite.  I was in need of a pre cruise pedicure and they had a great deal on pedi's.  It was a pleasant surprise.  The spa was beautiful and peaceful.  The staff were very nice.   Overall, our experience was ok.  Clean beds, pleasant pool, nice bar.  But for the price you pay for a room here, you would expect something a little nicer than that.

Worst service. Got locked out of room bc the card wasn't working and didn't get us into our room until 7am the next morning. Sat in lobby the whole night waiting for help. Workers were rude, unsympathetic and we had to argue for compensation for the issue. Awful experience and would never recommend.

I stayed here for a Royal Caribbean FAM for travel agents, so I cannot comment on the price. The grounds and common areas of this hotel are very nice, therefore a good choice for small conventions. They have quite a few different convention rooms, all well laid-out.

The best part of this hotel is the sky lounge (open for conventions and private parties). It is a 360 degree spinning lounge with outdoor deck and full view of Port Everglades.

The rooms are what I would expect of a lower class hotel, however were clean and acceptable. I was not able to see any of the villas located outside of the main tower, but I assume these may be a bit nicer and larger. If staying in the main tower, make sure to request a higher floor room (more than floor 9 or so) if you want a nice view. Most of the lower floor rooms do not have nice views.

Staying here for a Management retreat, the location is unbeatable, within walking distance to some cool restaurants, ranging from fairly inexpensive for lunch to a bit pricier for dinner. Also, the view to the causeway is beautiful.
Perfect for a quick getaway, you are away without having to travel an ungodly amount of miles.
The service is warm and the conference room is perfect for the event as well and they have been taking very good care of or group.

The sky lounge is definitely worth a visit for a great view.

A great option for a stay cation.

So convenient to Port Everglades. The modern decor is very soothing in the lobby. There is a bar/restaurant with large screen TVs located adjacent to the lobby. I ate two meals here and both were delicious. I ordered a breakfast from the menu one day and the breakfast buffet the other. The buffet is $20/person. Menu items cheaper; however I liked the buffet better. We had to leave the main building & the air conditioning to walk to our room. The hallway was covered with the side open air - old motel styling. However there are rooms within the tower, at a much higher rate. Our room was very nice and clean. The. bed was so comfortable! I slept great! We overlooked the marina and that was quite pleasant. I would stay here again anytime.

EXCELLENT 5 STAR LOCATION. Great views of the water and Ft Lauderdale from our hotel room veranda.

STAFF: 5 STARS.

LOBBY BAR & ROOMS: 4 STARS. These need some maintenance, updating and spiffing up.  

BEDS: 5 STARS. Comfortable Mattresses and Pillows...these have been updated and were the pinnacle of our hotel stay after two weeks of less than comfortable beds.

We've stayed here a couple of times before and I LOVE this hotel!

I may have a different view than some as I was staying here for a local conference not exactly for a vacation, but that's ok as I will give you the facts as I had no preconceived expectations.

The location is right over the bridge and there is a tower (with few rooms) and then motel style rooms around the resort. The lobby was very nice and the service was friendly upon arrival. The parking is extremely expensive at 21 bucks a day for self park and 25 for valet. The guy working the parking was super nice though and helped with a few issues I was having with my rental. The rooms are a bit of a trip from the lobby as the directions described 2 separate elevator trips. Once I found my room though I realized it wasn't actually that bad. There is no complimentary breakfast here and any meal or food you get on the resort will cost you (especially the room service). The restaurant I did go to on location is expensive but very good (Pier 66 Grill).

The room itself was nice, nothing spectacular. The TV is average size and they offer a few HD channels which was nice. You can order movies but they are also very pricey at about 18 bucks per movie. The mattress was a pillow top and was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice, with the shower having a stone "rim" you could sit on during a shower if you'd like. I will say the water is off colored which is a bit concerning despite the sign saying it's ok. There is a balcony with a view to the inside pool area. There was a safe in the room, iron, fridge, desk, and table. The downsides of the room was that the air conditioner was a tad noisy (although effective) and upon arrival I was missing the hotel booklet with all the info. They do offer free wifi in the rooms.

I didn't do much in the facilities and I was disappointed the spa portion was under construction (which I did not see noted on the website while checking the place out prior). The pool was huge (I think there are actually 3 of them), clean, and available 24 hours with underwater lighting at night. The gym was not bad, had some older equipment but enough to get a workout in. There were some treadmills, elliptical, stair master, and some exercise bikes. The dumbells went up to 50 lbs and there were some nautilis machines.

Nothing mind blowing here but nothing that made me think horrors either (except for the prices).

Wow...so glad we checked out of this place. Management of this hotel must be so out of touch with reality. The service was absolutely horrible....the maid had no idea how to make a bed and when she left you had no idea that anyone had even been in the room besides that the trash cans were empty. The pool was dirty and cloudy that you could almost not see your hand (discovered it too late). Had to call room service twice to get more cups and almost got yelled at the second time that for speaking to the wrong person the first time as "he" certainly did not alert the right person (like it is the guests fault that they got connected to the wrong person!). The restaurant food was a whole other experience....ordered a burger and they conveniently forgot the "gourmet" additions - horseradish sauce and onion jam. Gave it a second try and ordered lobster mac & cheese and chicken pops from the kids menu...both dishes were almost inedible. The pasta was undercooked and the cheese was some kind of powder cheese from a package....why even pretend. Given the above and more, this place is out of touch.

Heavyhearted review after staying here three separate times. (sigh)

No coffee cups, lids, creamers, stir sticks or anything in room. I anticipated this from prior visit and brought my own from the last hotel. Coffee here is god awful, too. Even brought my own Starbucks. Is that strange or what? (If you can ever do Waldorf in the keys--go there! What a letdown after staying there.)

So dusty I could barely open my eyes in the morning. Hadn't experienced that in awhile.
Bed so lumpy I did not sleep.

People running up and down hallway all night including staff and a midnight check- in who decided to bang around as much as he could.
On tiled floor, this was absolutely brutal. It wasn't this noisy New Year's Eve on the beach. How bizarre is that?

Something on our bathroom wall that looked like human...never mind. It was absolutely disgusting. Run-down walls and corners. Seriously gross.

What I did like was the Marina garden location. I am sure that this must beat the tower in that respect. Was nice to walk out onto a patio.

But I will NOT be in a rush to return, which is a shame, considering the amount of times a year that I frequent Fll. Book at your own risk, yes, even when using Priceline.

I read all the yelp and trip advisor reviews.  I decided to stay here.  Yes, the building is old but redone.  The A/C controls are something out of the 1950's.
   The room is clean, the TVis flat screen and the wifi is free.  
I loved the lobby bar restaurant tonight.  It has a good vibe, the sushi is great too, way better than average. Surprising, that's why the hotel is a 4.
  It's a short walk to the Pelican wharf restaurant and the water taxi.  If you get an Internet deal, this hotel is a good choice.

The first impression ,beautiful landscape, then crowded lobby rude bellmen and valets.
    They had 2 people checking in tins of people, way to few for the crowds going on cruises.  Charged 42.00 for parking for 2 days I am disabled and was given a room a far from the parking area as possible.  No consideration was given to this and I informed them of this upon arrival.  
   The rooms are run down, very tired old ,very small rooms.  The pool was filthy with drink cups and limes floating, straws, fries, the water was not clear but murky.  Sure pain I was unable to met the pizza man at the front desk,I asked if the bellman could escort him to my room was told they don't cater to guest like that.  Needless to say I Will never stay here again.  I paned 2 days here and 7 in key west then an additional 2 here on the way home.  Canceled the second 2 days reservation and will stay at the crown plaza in Hollywood  much nicer place with an awesome pool right on the inter-coastal.  Here is a place that should be leveled and started over, and hire courtesy people to run.

I have no words to describe how bad I was treated in this hotel during my wedding night. I had such a disappointing and sad experience with my reservation at this hotel. We booked our room a week and a half before our wedding. We specifically reserved a KING room, I even happily put a note online saying "we are honeymooners! :)". We arrived to the hotel at 6:15am straight from our wedding, all dressed up (I had my big white dress on) and smiley after such a wonderful night. The valet guy was so excited to see us arriving! When we got to the front desk, Cassandra asked for our reservation, we gave her the sheet and after a few seconds she just said she didn't have a room for us at the moment. We were in shock, couldn't understand what was happening. We mentioned we had a reservation and showed her the number in the reservation paper, and she said, literally, "reservations don't guarantee any room". She mentioned she had a room with two singles, so she suggested we stay there until a king becomes available the next day. We were in shock that she would suggest something like that to honeymooners. She had a terrible attitude, totally indifferent to the fact we just got married and we did everything right. I started crying because of frustration, she just couldn't care less about us or our special "night". It was terrible. We had to leave when it was still night (6:30am), with no clue where to go and where to spend our wedding night. At the end we went to the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina right next to the Hyatt, and they booked us right away, the lady even gave us one of the two nights for free and a free breakfast for my husband and myself. She even hugged me since I arrived crying. The Hilton was SO wonderful and perfect for us. I just can't believe a renowned chain like a Hyatt would hire such a terrible worker like Cassandra, and would be so indifferent with their customers specially when they were the ones who FAILED. The only wonderful person there was the valet parking guy, who was kind and understanding. We really did everything as we should have, and still, we didn't have our room and had to go through that because of this hotel. We requested a refund of our money through a central line, which it happened thank God, with no prob. But I will NEVER forget, never, that we had to go through that on our wedding night. That's unforgettable.

I just don't know what to say about this hotel.

We were there for a family event and got a very decent room rate of $139 for a holiday weekend. The room was clean, but quite rundown, with stained upholstery, mold in the shower and agespots and stains all over. It opened up onto a little porch which had a filthy table, stained outdoor chair covered with mold, and overlooked the parking lot with the marina beyond. It's Florida, which means there are bugs all over, but my room was mosquito ridden, and there were palmetto bugs (large roaches) and caterpillars in my room as well. The television is dreadful--channels are not actually available and the sound varies drastically from one channel to another.  The room itself was actually relatively clean--sheets and towels were crisp and clean, and the bed was very comfortable too.

The main hotel (lobby, tower, ballrooms, event spaces) were really lovely and recently renovated in a modern style. The lanai (2 story part of the hotel surrounding the pool) was in general tired looking, dingy and in desperate need of an update. The pool itself was gorgeous, well cared for and with enough seating for a busy holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the pool amenities were sorely lacking: towels are only available till 6pm, need to be checked out and returned with a small slip of paper (who isn't going to lose that at the pool) and there are no lifeguards and no one in charge, which means that anyone who wants to blare loud music or smoke hideous cigars is welcome to do so, ruining the experience of the other guests.

The restaurants at this hotel are on the whole pretty poor. The staff is not attentive to the customers, downright rude, and worse to people with children. There is a refusal across the board in all of the restaurants to deal with any special exceptions or help meeting dietary needs. The poolside restaurant is the worst, requiring waits for drinks and snacks of up to 45 minutes. Breakfast is ridiculously expensive, no surprise, and the selections are not exactly diverse or wholesome (you'd think there'd be more fresh fish).

Customer service (as previously mentioned) was sorely lacking. The valets and bellhops were difficult, consistently asking us to move our car while we were unloading but without giving any assistance to speed our arrival or departure. Taxis were not immediately available as promised by the reception. The concierge was available and friendly but had a hard time printing out my boarding passes (as the boarding pass computer wasn't working). The actual reception desk seemed to be staffed by brand new employees who kept saying things like "I have to check, I haven't worked here very long." That's OK if the answers they provide are correct, but at some point it causes you to lose faith in the staff. The restaurant staff seemed convinced that everything we did was wrong and that our every request was bizarre, and treated us as such.

Luckily, the wifi is free.

The best part is that I got to spend time with my family. The rest, well, I wouldn't return. I had read the Yelp reviews so I had a sense of what I was expecting...and yes, it was just as ordinary and poorly executed as everyone said it would be.

AMAZING PLACE. great staff, great pool, decent restaurants (pelicans landing was our favorite). easy access to the beach because of the free shuttle. always had cabs on premises. romantic and clean rooms. great pool which makes you want to stay rather than hit the beach. location was slightly off since your not really by that much. i am a picky person who has traveled extensively both internationally and domestically. i would definitely recommend this place. they have all that you could want on site and the staff definitely made our stay unforgettable. great for couples!

This is a five star in my book and here's why:

This hotel is located off the 17th Street Causeway right near Port Everglades (great for cruise passengers) and just to the south of Ft. Lauderdale's downtown area.  It is a very iconic hotel.  I remember passing by it with my parents when I was young, but never got the chance to go inside...until now.  

I was completely impressed with the front desk staff.  Deanna checked us in and was very professional and engaging.  She also allowed us to check in early and asked us what type of room we would like-either facing the intracoastal waterway or the ocean.  She also gave us a map with our hotel keys and showed us where to eat and swim.  

We were amazed how tranquil the lobby and tower were.  It was quiet with chill music playing in the background.  No one was loud, no screaming kids running around, just peace and quiet.  Our room was located in the tower on the 12th floor and boasted a gorgeous view of the ocean.  The room was simple and clean and the bathroom was nice and spacious with the toilet having its own doors.  There was also a nice balcony that allowed us to sit and enjoy the views.  There are also rooms located around the perimeter of the pool area, but we figured the tower would be quieter.

The best part was the pool area.  There are two pools, one very large and one large and both with waterfalls.  There is towel service, which was super nice.  They gave us a lounge chair towel sheet and a regular towel.  Staff also came along while we were relaxing and gave us some tropical juice.  It was heaven and tranquil.  I wonder if it is like this during season?!

The property has plenty of eating options and has a marina to the north of the hotel.  I would say that this was one of the best hotel stays I have ever had...and that's saying a lot because I travel all over the world and this particular hotel happens to be in my backyard (live in West Palm Beach!).  

We will be back for another relaxing and romantic getaway!

Checked in around 10pm and husband tried to shower and NO water. We called the front desk and they said there was a letter and that they shut it off at night. Said it would be turned back on at 5am.  Bell staff was very nice and the room seems fine. We will probably try to get our money back. Can't pay for a 4 star hotel with no water.

This hotel is a waste of money and overPrice! the room Are regular. bad customer service and unfriendly. they don't tell you at check in that they charge $75 per night as a hold on your card just in case for Room damage or room service. Etc.. on topof your nightly rate! I did not Know this because I was not informed at check in until I saw my account online. I stayed at other hotels before and never had this kind of hold on my card. I was lucky to stay only 3 days but what if I stayed longer that would be a lot of money to put on hOld! My acct was negative bc of this hold !after checkout, I hAd to call to find out that it take 3 business days for them to release thst hold! never stay here or at any Hyatt Hotel ever again!

We are Hyatt Diamond members and this Hyatt Regency is definitely one of the worst Hyatt's we have EVER stayed at. It's e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y run down (examples: the two rooms we stayed in smelled like old smoke, the bed rails that held the mattresses in place were dangerously sticking out (scratched our 3 year old's legs as she walked by the bed) and could not be pushed back in, the beds were made in an very sloppy way and were very lumpy, the rugs were so dirty that when we walked around barefoot our feet were black, the carpets were falling apart, and the furniture looked like it had taken a beating over the years. The lobby, location, and breakfast menu are the only good things at this Regency. Even when we requested our typical "diamond" upgrade, we were put into a junior suite that looked more like a regular room than what suites at other Hyatt Regency's look like. Overall, our experience at this hotel was not a good one. For the amount of money this hotel charges for the rooms, parking, and food one would think they could afford a major face-lift of their rooms! So sad and disappointing.

After staying at several other hotels in Ft Lauderdale, I'm glad that I decided to hop back on to the Hyatt wagon. I read some reviews about the rooms and can say that the balcony rooms in the tower provide great views and are quiet even by the elevator (usually the ones I avoid). Carpets are seemingly clean (unlike the ones in the Miami Downtown location)

The breakfast buffet has a wide assortment of hot and cold, plus I like having the omelette station. Luckily it hasn't been busy the last two stays. Service is always good.

There tends to be special events and likely cruise vacationers, so it can get busy at times. Haven't tried the pool or visited the grounds yet. Parking is similar to many locations around here. All-in-all this is is good place to stay.

Pet peeves are business centers that charge for everything. It's just the hassle on not being able to print and go.

This hotel is great for the location and beautiful grounds, but the rooms are what brought down the experience.

I went here with my husband and coworkers for an awards ceremony where most of the attendees stayed overnight, so we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I gotta hand it to the staff at the Hyatt - they sure do know how to throw a party! The event itself was FANTASTIC and I would suggest the venue for weddings & award ceremonies since it's perfect for that. The pool is AWESOME, and the lobby bar was hoppin' til 3am! The room service breakfast was delicious too (steel cut oats with macadamia nuts & pineapple!), enjoyed with a view of some millionaire's yacht from our balcony.

The downsides were with the room itself and the general lack of maintenance. I realize it's an older (bordering on historic) hotel, but the rooms were very run-down for what I would expect at a Hyatt. Our A/C was broken and leaking water into the room and onto the patio, our patio door lock was broken (on the 1st floor that's a security issue...), and the bathtub had a tile border that drained directly onto the floor and flooded the bathroom (plus the drain was clogged). If I hadn't had the room paid for by my company and had somewhere else to be most of the time, I would have asked for a different room, but we just went with it and they ended up comping our parking instead (I think it was $12/night for self-parking).

Perfect location for a work event or large wedding, but not the kind of place I would spend my own $$$ to stay at.

First let me give you a bit of background on Pier 66.  This was our second stay at this hotel.  It is divided into two separate parts.  They have both hotel and motel like rooms.  The first visit we stayed in the motel side.  It was away from the hotel, clean and all in all nice, but I didn't feel as though I really got to experience the Pier 66 that I was looking forward to.  To the credit of the manager, we were invited to return to the hotel at a discounted rate(should've been comped), which we took advantage of on one of our staycations.  The hotel was booked solid on the night we choose to stay.  I had requested an early check in, but still did not arrive until after 4 pm.  To our dismay our room was not ready.  I should mention we had a charity event beginning at 7 pm.  We completed our administrative portion of the check in and decided to give them an our or so to have our room cleaned.  We left, went to the beach and returned an hour or so later.  Our room was still not ready.  At this point I asked to speak with the on duty manager.  Within 15 minutes we were in our room, a Respire room.  It was exactly what We wanted.  The room had a beautiful view, extremely comfortable bed, with really nice amenities.  Had we not lost several hours, they would have garnered a higher rating, but this being our second stay and both with issues; 3 stars is all I can give it.

Wow... Where to start... This is by far one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in! The place is extremely run down, food is crap and extremely overpriced, the pool is great to swim in of you like to contract skin diseases and to top it off, it is not cheap! The housekeeping totally sucked and we couldn't wait to leave this dump. Typical case of a horribly run business that only survives because the cruise port is across the street. The management should all be fired and this dump leveled to make a parking lot.
Highly recommend to stay away from this turd!

Let me try to write this review with as little animosity as possible because my temper is currently fuming.  Let me also mention that we traveled here with a 10 month old so keep in mind my perspective.

First of all, the staff of this place is a joke.  Let me sum up some of the mishaps / lies we were told upon our stay, from least annoying to most.  

Lie 1 :  There is a restaurant on the property called Pelican's Landing.  This restaurant is on yelp as well.  Decent food, very overpriced, sounds like vintage Hyatt.  It's a Monday afternoon, 1 PM, 80+ degrees, UV index of 9.  Awesome, time to outdoor dine.  We ask the door attendant if Pelican landing is open for lunch and he enthusiastically says "Yep open since 11 and points the general direction of the restaurant."  We navigate our way along the pier to get to the restaurant.  It looks empty, but we quickly realize it's about 2 flights of stairs up with no ramp for strollers or handicapped, and also lacks an elevator.  I bring my son up the stairs, my wife takes the stroller, and we get to the top only to find out it's not open on Mondays!  Really doorman?  Thanks a lot buddy.  We trek our way back and unfortunately he's gone and we can't thank him for the brilliant advice.  We asked another staff member what our food option was, and he TOLD US THE SAME THING.  "Pelican's landing is only about 10 minutes walking from here." Which at that time we had to inform him that the restaurant is not open on Mondays and that they should stop referring guests there that day.

Lie 2 :  We asked one of their front desk attendants if there was anywhere close by to buy diapers / some basic essentials.   The desk attendant of course quickly told us about their gift shop, which sells at a markup of roughly 500%.  That's fine, but they don't sell diapers / formula / really anything baby related there, so we literally walked a mile to Publix grocery chain thinking it was the only option per their request.  It turns out RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET SOMEWHAT HIDDEN BEHIND THE GAS STATION IS A CONVENIENCE STORE.   I asked 2 or 3 staff members the same questions if there was anything over that way, and they all said "Just the gas station absolutely nothing else."  Yes, it is probably my fault for trusting them without looking on my own, but hey pushing a stroller a mile in 85 degrees is fun right?

A week before our stay my wife and I phoned the hotel to confirm our stay and to discuss the amenities.  We were told that the rooms do not have a refrigerator or microwave and that we would have to pay $20 dollars a night for either one, talk about convenience.  In addition to this the operator told us that we had a room with two double beds.  We informed her that we didn't want two double beds she said she would make the change and note to our account.  When we arrive the attendant tells us we have a rm. with 2 double beds and that no note was ever made to the account but that the beds are queen sized.  Long story short we had to sleep in separate beds for 6 nights because they were full sized not queen sized beds. We also find a used bar of soap with a hair stuck to it for our use in the bathroom and no toilet paper.

So we had an incident last night.  It's 12 at night, and people are being obnoxiously loud by the pool.  Belligerent drunks.  1 AM comes, same story.  2 AM, same story.  We call the front desk, and they say "Yes we've received several noise complaints, I think we might shut it down."  I politely remind him of how pissed off we are and that we have a baby, and how we were reassured several times our hotel was in a quiet / relaxing area. (Keep in mind that this hotel is in Ft. Lauderdale not Miami or South beach and about 2 miles from the nearest beach.  We chose this hotel for those reasons attempting to avoid drunks and late night parties on property)  It's now 4 AM, and we are all sleep deprived so we call the front desk again only to hear the same bullshit.  There are other families staying at the hotel with small children.  Since the hotel attendants don't seem to care about our stay my wife decides to walk to the pool area and politely ask the them to keep it down and explains the situation (as when you stay on the first floor you can walk to the pool in 10 seconds or so).  The group by the pool was belligerently drunk and yelled a few expletives loudly/ continued to make noise for a little bit thereafter.   One of the men in the group actually had to be restrained by one of his other friends from getting in my wife's face.  So apparently, it's the guests' job to handle security?!!!    After that incident we were so pissed off and my wife insulted and apauled that we couldn't sleep a wink and the baby couldn't sleep either.  He woke up 5 or 6 times in the night due to the noise and he's generally a deep sleeper.  I hate to say it, but that really put a damper on our stay.

Beautiful marina, clean and modern hotel, and conveniently located by the water taxi stop.  The rooms have great views.  Great pool.  Lots of quick places to grab food or coffee within walking distance.

The walk to Ft Lauderdale beach is about 1.5 miles or so.  

Make sure to visit the Southport Raw Bar up the street about 6-7 blocks.

Excellent rooms.... Comfy beds, refrigerators, huge oversized tubs, great balcony view. But I wasn't in the main hotel and my room was a long walk which required me going outside. It was pouring rain the night I arrived and it made it inconvenient every time I needed to leave and go back to my room.

It is hard to belive this is a Hyatt. It does not deserve to be rated 1 star.  The staff is extremely rude and totally incompetent.  Parking Is extremely over priced but what is worse is Johanna she takes the prize for being rude.  To top this off the discremenate against the handicap.  We asked for a room in the tower and got told no you have a service animal.  We got a room In what looked like the bates motel.  The blinds were falling off, there are no black out drapes, the few electrical plugs were a fire hazard as they are coming out of the wall. The air conditioning did not work, the handle on the shower fell off and we got one towel for two people. Trying to reach the front desk was a joke after the phone ringing 10 minutes they picked up and put me on hold. During a 5 day stay we only got house keeping  one time despite  multiple requests. When we asked to speak to the general manager we were told there isn't one. hands down the worst Hyatt ever.

I'll start with the positive: The room was big and clean and the grounds were pretty. A lot of frustrating customer service issues occurred that ruined my stay. I was concerned about the location, so I called the hotel in advance to ask about transportation options. They reassured me that they ran a free shuttle to Las Olas until 5 pm. Once I got to the hotel, I learned that the shuttle only goes to the beach and only runs every 2 hours. When I was waiting in line to speak with the concierge, David, he insisted on first helping a woman who had arrived after me even though both she and I told him I was there first. (He still insisted that I wasn't.) I was also disappointed to learn that the Sunday brunch a friend had recommended was discontinued last year. And finally, the parking attendant David/Yunior would not let us stop the car for 5 minutes at the front door to load our luggage, but instead made us park at the bottom of the driveway and carry our luggage down. Staying at this hotel made for quite a stressful "vacation".

If you do not mind beer drinking  cigar smoking ,water splattering drunk twenty year olds at the pool, or people camping out in the lobby - sleeping for hours or putting their feet up on sofa arms, or fighting business conference attendees for breakfast  tables and service; or unchanged bed sheets, or slow room service, or unvacumed poorly dusted rooms, or a non working elevator or a facility lacking good security this is the place for you.

The worst part - this was all brought to the attention of management with no reply or remorse.

On the plus side ( there always is) it is a nicely located landmark facility that, with caring management , can be truly a worthwhile vacation experience. Too bad. There just are too many properties in Ft Lauderdale that care.

Believe it or not, we tried 66 again and in all fairness they have made some modest improvements. So a slight upgrade.

Solid hotel. Booked a cheap night on priceline ($108) + parking $21.

Check-in: not front desk's fault, but seriously slow people checking in. I don't know what their issue was but it took the 2 people ahead of us at least 15 minutes. Staff was good enough. Not super-friendly, but not really surly. Adequate.

Room: Our room looked out toward the water way. Nice sliding glass doors to patio outside. Comfy beds. Love the white covers so you can tell it's clean. Seriously large bathroom and nice shower. Good amenity shampoo etc. Glad there was a refrigerator.

Pool: nice pool, kiddie pool, hot tub area. It was well maintained and attractive. Unfortunately someone left a 'gift' in the pool that was rescued right after we sat down and everyone had to get out of the pool. So no swimming for us. They should have some sort of sign to put up by the pool to say it's closed, however, because people who came later had no idea and got into the pool. yikes.

Location: close to the airport (10 min) and to town (2 min by car). Nice looking beaches nearby.

Beyond disappointed. To start out, I was sent off with all my luggage to search for a room that was extremely far from the front desk - the signs were entirely misleading. I had to call the front desk from the pool to request someone come help me. The person who did agreed with me that the signs were wrong but he most certainly did not offer to take my luggage nor did he even actually show me to my room so much as point in a general direction.

The room was disgusting. It wasn't clean, the bathroom was in horrific condition. I had to call the front desk (from my cell phone because the room phone was broken) to request a new room. The new room was better than the first, but still on par with a fleabag motel.

Aside from the bartenders at the pool bar, every employee acted like we were a total inconvenience to their life. The cleaning people barged into our room at 8am shouting "housekeeping". The beds were disgusting, the patio furniture was mismatched and plastic - the kind you'd get from a kmart. The valet guy, when I requested a cab - he told me that the hotel van would take me for a flat fee - I asked him how long it would take to get a cab instead, he said he'd find out. And after 10 minutes of waiting, when I told him I'd take the van, he gave me an attitude saying "I just called you TWO separate cabs, but whatever...".

There were bugs everywhere - I understand it's Florida and the disgusting bungalow rooms are outside - but there were bugs everywhere.

On top of that, it's EXTREMELY overpriced. EXTREMELY. It should not have been more than $150/night for what we got.

Oh, and our toilet was broken.

We did have one lovely front desk person who helped my friends have their rooms moved (because of course they also got disgusting rooms with hair in the bathrooms and ceilings that were falling on them) - I won't name the person, but when we asked if people often complained about these "bungalow rooms" they said "yes, all the time".

PRICELINE ALERT!   $175 ($151+tax) a night for a four star hotel?

Think again these scammers have something special for you: a rundown motel located at the outer end of the property approx .25 kilometer away only accessible on foot, and no elevator and absolutely no security (the web is loaded with horror stories from travelers and other victims) these motels house 75% of their rooms.

This Hotel/Motel is located on a noisy and major traffic artery frunting a busy water port, it's impossible to get a nights sleep you will wake numerous times from the trucks and drawbridge alarms and commercial loud speakers of boats and huge liners passing by.

Located 2.6km from the beach and miles from anything else, they will not allow you to order in outside food in an effort to force you to pay $15 for a simple hotdog ($10 hotdog +20% gratuity +$3 delivery charge) and besides the delivery people refuse to trek down to the motel banks and you will have to get dressed and pickup your food in the lobby  

Amenities:
Exterior corridors exposed to the elements, hallways dirty and sticky with poorly sealed doors where you clearly hear everything going on outside, the room small with low ceiling height barely meeting code requirements, poor quality sheets and broken second hand furniture falling apart, no breakfast included, no airport shuttle and parking for an additional $20/day, $33 per hour for computer use (located in tiny 'business closet'),

They have some contract with silver sea cruise lines sending them clinets but a review of tripadvisor.com reveals some 300+ negative reviews (which some 5000 would be victims already found useful)

Director Chad Ingram, should follow up on staff and Hyatt policies. Asst Director on Duty does not seem to understand the "standards" that we come to expect from Hyatt.

Don't take a taxi from Fort Laud. Airport to this hotel! If you are on a budget and want to save about $20 +Take the bus... You need to take 2 buses- its about 15 minutes-thats it! The bus stops right in front of the hotel. Bus rides are $1.75. or you can buy an all day pass.
The sun trolley stops in front of the hotel also! The sun trolley picks you up from the airport free on the weekends only. Check and research or just take the bus-you can check broward public transp. site for schedules and details.

The hotel is beautiful! One of the few tall hotels in the area so you have the potential to enjoy amazing views.  They have free shuttle to the beach but make sure you time it because they run every hour, sun trolley also takes you from the hotel to the beach but you have to time it so that you don't spend your time waiting around for the ride.
My room was nice it was near the hotel front desk and close to the pool! I think this was an ideal location because i didn't have to walk for a tremendous amount of time!

If you want a view of the city and a room in the tower you need to pay more money! They will charge you for that it will be an upgrade. My room had a lovely balcony and a really soothing beautiful view. I was able to enjoy the tower view during the day and night without having to pay extra for a room- if money is not a concern- get a room in the tower just make sure you don't lock yourself out lol that happened to a lady while I was there hahahah she was yelling from the balcony and once I realized she was calling out I ran back in and told them she was locked out!

The reception area was lovely and the reps were fairly nice... At night I got hungry and they recommended places that deliver to the hotel but you have to meet them at the front desk. The restaurant in the hotel was a bit too pricey and not so good. The pool food was much better. I had their quesadillas and I enjoyed it.

Pool area is beautiful, they have games, ping pong, a hot tub and a lovely scenic pool which has hotel rooms which wrap around it.

Room service was not good, the server was nice but the food was yucky! The only thing I enjoyed was the salad- it had small pieces of bacon, pineapple  and/ or mango hmmm was light and pretty good. The Chicken thing with potato gnocchi was awful.
Overpriced and not even good. I ate some of it but left most of it, I should have called the front desk and asked for something else but I just let it go... I talked to the front desk about it later that night but they said they can refund or do something about it if you call it in immediately- my mistake! If you order and don't like something send it back immediately!
The dock is under construction still so it sucked that I couldn't take the water taxi from the hotel.. They don't mention that and also you are charged for parking $20 ( that is stupid and tacky!) If they want more money, give more value. guests that come to visit you have to pay $3  for parking  and then $1 per hour ( something like that).

Beach is NOT walking distance,  do  use the sun trolley or the public bus that stops in front of the hotel ( about 4-5 quick stops)- or use their shuttle but I never used it... it ran every hour and my plans just didn't match with their shuttle schedule.
Across the street there is a Hess gas station which is awesome because you can purchase bottled water, snacks etc.. that way you save money and not spend $3-$4 on hotel water!! :)
Overall it was a fine experience, I loved their pool, games and the pool food. The price I paid was a little too much for what I got; however, I was not disappointed! Beautiful property! :)

BAD FOOD , POOR SERVICE , AND BUG BITES ANYONE ?
I am not one to blast negative reviews, but I feel I am writing this for the greater good of everyone. My boyfriend woke up with 4 bites in a roll on his back after spending the night here. Unfortunately they refused to let us out of our reservation for the next two nights. The manager informed us she would let us leave early without a cancellation fee, but the front desk said otherwise. They moved us to a different room, but was unable to help me find a laundry mat or cleaning service for our luggage. We first assumed it was bed bugs but later found out it was a spider bite from the crack in the door that allowed the room to be open to the elements. He was horribly ill for over a week from the bites. The room they relocated us too had ants as well. We had booked a room for our colleague. When they added his name to his room, they put his name on our room as well. The service was horrific on all ends. Front desk, valet, housekeeping, etc. I had called for various things while my bags were un openable do to insects and did not get a response. ( I offered to pay for everything I requested).  If I noted everything that occurred it would be a twenty page report. Unfortunately I am too busy to do so, dealing with the aftermath of the trip, and they spider bite that popped up on me a day after trip. They offered to show us a report from Pest Control service  stating no bed bugs or spiders, when we requested it they changed their mind and said it was confidential.

A friend and I stayed there after a cruise out of Miami.  WHAT A WONDERFUL END TO OUR VACATION!!!  

First of all when we walked in (at 10am!) we assumed we would just have to leave our luggage at the front desk until 3pm check-in time.  Nope, we were wrong...they told us they DID have a room ready for us!  Not only did they have a room ready for us they upgraded us to a TOWER ROOM with THE most INCREDIBLE view of the Harbor.  (The upgrade was due to some small construction going on in the Harbor that made a LITTLE bit of noise in the middle of the day, NO BIG DEAL)

The lobby is absolutely STUNNING and the room was GORGEOUS and bright.  When we walked in I just took a deep breath because it was so nice, airy and relaxing.

Laying out by the pool  was literally like being at a beautiful, private SPA, SO tranquil, peaceful and quiet.  All you can hear is the waterfalls in the pool and the soothing piped in music.  There are 3 pools to choose from and all kinds of little areas to be by yourself.  We stayed out there and didn't move from 11am till 5pm!  ...The CRAZIEST thing is that there are these HUGE GREEN LIZARDS (body only was 2 ft. long!) walking around and even sunning themselves by the pool...it was SO SO COOL!!!  Got lots of great pictures of them, the actually POSE for you!! LOL  They like to hang out up in the beautiful palm trees that are EVERYwhere on the grounds.

I could go on and on but just wanted to write this review because we were SO impressed and would stay there again in a HEARTBEAT!

Nice hotel, but not entirely what I expected for a 4-star hotel (with a 4-star price tag). Check in and check out were easy and the room was clean (though there was a bit of walking from the lobby to the room--we had a room in one of the lanai buildings around the pool). Speaking of the pool...WHY DOES THE POOL CLOSE AT DUSK?! The pool itself is lighted and there are no lifeguards on duty even when open (also, the towel hut closes at 5...a full two hours before sundown), I don't get why it isn't open 24 hours. Hubby complained the jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, but I was satisfied with the temperature. We didn't order room service, mainly because I wasn't going to pay $10 for a bowl of oatmeal. All in all, not a bad experience, but I wouldn't return unless they dropped the price.

Forget the long wait and extensive walks from the front door to your room. Let's not even talk about the lack of complimentary breakfasts and spotty wifi. Let's start at the front door of your room.

What seems like an antiquated building leads into a disappointing room. We booked two bed for four people - a very common request among families right? We walked in and found two beds that looked like the baby of a twin and a full with bedsheets hastily covering the mess underneath and lumps everywhere. How were we to fit two average sized people on a bed? What's even worse is they had No alternative for us. No pull outs. No couches.

And the service? " to conserve the environment the staff will not replace your towels unless you ask?" I could've sworn I had booked a 5-star hotel and brand. Apparently not.

Other than the tv being great, All other amenities were horrid. A toilet seat so low my knees came higher than my waist. A shower where if you draw the blinds you are blacked out from any source of light in the bathroom. It was bad.

A lot of the reviews say the pool is great. And it looks great. Offering 24 hour service with towel checkouts ending at 9 is ludicrous. So they expect us to use the towels they dont replace as pool towels and then immediately as shower towels? Okay... Not to mention that if you check in as four they will happily only give you three towels to begin with. And besides, who uses the pool inside a hotel when you're in Florida and beaches are everywhere?

definitely not coming back again, and I hope everyone who reads this will share  some of the same sentiments.

Why didn't I ask for a tower room, why?  The part of the hotel we stayed at resembled a cheap motel 6.  The inside of the room was fine but the walls were paper thin and we could hear everything going on above us. I had the worst nights sleep, luckily it was only for one night.  The parking prices were a bit ridiculous $25 for valet and I think $21 for self park.  My husband originally had us booked using his points at a Marriott but decided last minute to upgrade to a 4 star hotel, big mistake.  Bottom line this hotel is not worth the money.

We are very happy with our stay and the service with this hotel! After not being stranded in Fort Lauderdale and a change to our vacation plans, we needed a place to stay in Fort Lauderdale. We drove up and explained our situation to the front desk and that we were in need of a place for a week, so we could give the kids a wonderful, new vacation. Not only did the accommodate our last minute reservation, they gave us a discount on our price.
From the front desk and the concierge to the hostess for breakfast, customer service has been outstanding! We will definitely come back and recommend to all of our friends!

I was sceptical when booking this.  How can this be fheaper than a hyatt place.  Well on arival it was run down.  The pool closed at d unset, so non of the amenities were as available.  In general i have traveled to florida in jajuary t e ice in the last two years and basucally you pay a premium for crap.  You nee to spend near 200 a night just to guarantee v you are not sharing the room with bugs.

This hotel was horrible my boyfriend was over charged one night ... when we were at the airport we discovered a 700 dollar charge from the hotel was placed on the card and no one could tell us why. the hotel room service was horrible I had to explain to staff why I thought I needed towels and soap I figured the fact that there were 4 of us in a room and the hotel only gave us supplies for 2 was good enough reason but who am I to second guess room service the hotel waiting staff were rude and handed us a check before we even got a fork please don't go here this is supposed to be some chic hotel but I've had better service at the best western

Got a great deal on HotWire...now I know why. I thought Hyatt meant hotel not motel. The checkin was brutal. The staff handed us a map to find our room without starting us off in the right direction. We had to walk outside and down a set of stairs to an outdoor corridor.
The room is very basic and dated. It smelled horrible and there was a sign explaining the problems with the water being part of the south Florida area.
It was a $15 can ride from the airport since there is no hotel shuttle but close to the port.
We will not be staying here again.

Do not stay here unless you plan on being poolside your entire visit. Rooms are in major need of an update-- no accessible outlets, spotty wifi, grungy bathrooms. We stayed here 4 nights, and our room was never vacuumed- despite specific requests. That said, the pool and outdoor areas are quite lovely.

My girlfriend and I decided to drop in last friday for a weekend get-away. We didn't make reservations but we decided to try our luck in finding a room. My girlfriend went to the front desk while I parked the car. When I finished parking, I made my way to the lobby and couldn't find my girlfriend anywhere, then I spotted her on computer in the media room. She told me that the clerk had told her they were fully booked so she decided to pay $10 to use the computers and check on their website herself... she found plenty of rooms available..... We made our reservation RIGHT THERE and printed the recepit. Again we went to the front desk and talked to a different clerk (we pretended we didn'thave a reservation) and he as well said they were fully booked, then we showed him the receipt we had just printed. He acted like a robot, with a blank stare.

I was pretty pissed off since the clerk did not apologize nor did he offer to reimburse the $10 we had to spend on their computers to book our own room IN THEIR LOBBY, I almost made a scene about it. It's not about the money, but they obviously fucked up and should at least try to make amends... I don't know what kind of system they have going on there but it's a mess.

Don't get me wrong, the room and hotel in general is very pleasant, but this experience left me very bitter so I give them 2 stars for being morons.

I am a Hyatt Gold member and very loyal to the Hyatt brand. However, this past weekend I experienced the rudest service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you like to get treated very poorly. The bartender at the hotel was very rude and made me almost uncomfortable to have a drink. Not only that, the wine by the glass was terrible and wine by the bottle was EXTREMELY overpriced. Their coffee bar was gross as well. The elevators were slow(10+ wait) and while waiting for the elevator, if there were service people they went up first instead of letting the guests go first. If the elevator was crowded, the service would cram in when there was clearly no room! The beds were super tiny and they never gave enough towels and shampoo. When we asked for more towels or shampoo they looked at us like we were crazy and trying to scam them. Lastly, we tried to get a late checkout by one hour and I basically had to cut off my right arm to get it. Please stay away as I am appalled by this hotel.

The thing I really like about this hotel is that they have a cash lot. So I don't have to valet. I came here with my mother with a discounted spa package for two. So I never got to see or sleep in the rooms, but I got to lounge by the pool, eat at the restaurant outside, and get a facial and massage from the staff.

The spa is beautiful but small. My favorite was the beautiful shining blue tiles on the walls. We got our own large locker to put our belongings in, and a big fluffy robe and rubber shoes. First we went to the large pool and lounged for a bit until we got hungry. I ordered a Yingling draft (that was discounted for the day) and the veggie pita. The veggies were really fresh and crisp, the french fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the goat cheese was the best addition of it all. It gave the sweet tang needed to make the veggies pop. I took it home and ate it the next day. I don't ever typically have good food or drinks at a tiki bar by the pool, so this was great.

My mom ordered the discounted drink of the day which was a mango daiquiri and it was good as well, just really sweet. The waitress was really friendly and accommodating. When I wanted extra pita to take home, she happily gave it to me. After a while it was time to get facials and massages. Both were really relaxing, refreshing and enjoyable. After the facial, I received a few samples of creams and oils to take home that suit my needs. While I waited for my mom, I picked up my free champagne and lounged in the small wait area.

We had a great tranquil day, but I will say that without the discount package, this would be ridiculously expensive. Even after the coupon, the tip was required to be 20% of the bill. Which for me came out to being $40. The food was not cheap either. My sandwich was $12, and my mom's chicken panini was $18. This is to be expected at a luxury hotel in Fort Lauderdale, but I could go and explore S Flo. and get better food & drinks elsewhere at the same or cheaper price. And the massages are just as good at any other chain/local spas. But if you love to be in the hotel atmosphere, have people come to you while you lounge by the pool and overpay for everything - this is your place.

This place was so gross..... dirty, blow dryer did not work, door to balcony broken so why have a balcony... bugs in dressers  very expensive for any drinks breakfast or diner. But when you walk in awesome.... go to your room... surprise sucks x10 upgrading .... we went to breakfast came back dinner stuff gone our door wide open.. with all our valuables in there.....would never stay again..... pool heater broken shocking  so many other nice places to stay do your homework.... this one sucked

We recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency before embarking on a cruise. We had a great experience and found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. Especially, the Bell man, Bobby, who went out of his way to be of assistance to me and my wife. He was friendly, courteous and greeted me by name every time he saw me. Definitely a rare find.

She's aging gracefully but the old gal still has what it takes!   A little dated in some spots but the lobby and guestrooms are what you would expect from a Hyatt.  

The pool area is amazing.  There's plenty of swimming for the kiddies and for adults.  The hot tub is giant and holds 40.

Glad I stayed here.

Check in was quick, painless, and the front desk clerk (who's name i have forgotten but had a lovely accent) was one of the nicest people I've encountered in the hospitality industry.

During our walk around the large property we got to see the well manicured campus and luxurious pool area. We over heard someone speaking about the wedding they were attending there the next night. I can definitely see why someone would choose this locale for their special day.

Our room was HUGE, comfy, and clean. The room had a walk in closet with safe, king sized bed, full desk, over sized chair and a lot of seating area. .The room had a nice view of the pier with all the boats lined up and was a quick walk to the Pelican restaurant which had a 10% off  Yelp check in offer (which we took advantage of). A couple of Yeunglings and a shrimp cocktail to cap off our last night of vacation was great. The only down side was the $21 overnight parking.

I don't really anticipate returning to Ft. Lauderdale, but if i do i will most definitely stay at the Hyatt again.

Stayed on 8th floor in the tower, room was decent, view was pretty nice. At the prices this hotel charges there really was no value for the money. Went downstairs for a cup of coffee the first morning and they wanted $3 for it, are you kidding me, pay $150 a night for room and you want to charge for coffee. Ran out of toilet paper, no extras in room.....really?

Would not stay here again!

I do not get the bad reviews but it may be that people that stay in these five star hotels expect even more but it is what it is-a very fine hotel experience but with several buildings it is all spread out so you must do a lot of walking.

I came here for the November 2013 National Bodybuilding Championships. It was the host hotel. There were discounts on rooms and meals and the staff was very accommodating. The hotel has several small pools with waterfalls which is a very cool experience unless you want one big pool where you can dive and swim laps. I always enjoy a pool where you can swim and not just wade and lounge around. Every time you come here you have to pay a lot of money to park your car. They got me on that.

Views are spectacular. This is a wonderful area. Near to both the ocean and all the yacht facilities. If you want cheap snacks or drinks you can go across the street where there is a Hess gas station and a Bank of America and 24 hour ATM. Convenient for me because Bank of America is my bank. I did appreciate how the staff was very helpful by bringing me pitchers of ice water whenever I wanted and giving me free newspapers.

The restaurant here is really good. The seafood is excellent and the breakfast has to be the best buffet breakfast I can remember. There is a cool bar in the back by the pool which is a lot of fun. This hotel is very spacious. You may or may not like that. I did. This hotel has a long history from years ago since before it was a Hyatt so if you tell people you stayed at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, old-timers are going to know what you are talking about.

Grounds are well kept with private benches and private areas. One bad thing: since they rent out the top tower for private functions I wasn't able to see it. I have heard it is the best. I'd come here again but I was lucky enough to get a discount because of the bodybuilding show.

The worst Hyatt experience we've ever had...actually, make that the worst hotel experience period.  We arrived at the hotel only to find out that our "guaranteed" pre-paid room had been given to someone else...even after it had been reconfirmed that morning.  As we were dealing with the issue, we learned that 7 other parties were in the same boat (and that was supposed to make us feel better how?!).  We were then informed that we could stay on rollaway beds in the parlor room on the property or they would put us up at the Crowne Plaza "right down the road." Apparently, "right down the road" actually means back at the airport, because that is where we ended up.  Imagine our excitement to discover that the water view room we had paid for several months ago had been "upgraded" to a lovely view of a cigar shop and a car dealership.  

Run away, people...run away!  This hotel earns every single one of its bad reviews in spades and there's not a chance that we will ever be back!

I stayed here for a conference, and I loved it. The room was neat and clean with a view of the marina. The lobby smelt like flowers... I dont even know how but it did. I didnt bring a car, but I was able to get to a lot of places by foot. I was also able to catch the water taxi to las olas and explore that area, which was really one of the best things about this hotel's location.

In my experience the staff were very friendly. I locked myself out of the room at one point (the metal latch closed after I shut the door). I found a member of the housekeeping staff who was nice enough to destroy her plastic key card just to help me get into my room.

As part of the conference we used several of the hotels meeting rooms and of course the top of the pier restaurant. All facilities were clean, and well air-conditioned. The food was good as well.

My only complaint was that some of the meeting rooms felt like they were in a basement. Because of this they were a little hard to find and I hard a hard time getting a cell signal.

We stayed here on a layover from the Bahamas. We were in a very old part facing the marina. The walls were paper thin. My daughter found a bug in her bed and came home with bites on her chest. We booked the room through hotel tonight and the hotel charged us too. I only give it 2 stars because of its location and proximity to he airport.

Where do I begin.... The room :The best thing about the room is the vie of the marina that is about it. Watching beautiful yachts cruise by from your extremely overpriced motel room it's pretty annoying. How about this hotel chooses to patch work everything, doors don not lock the room is basically open for anyone to enter. Try using one of the two safes in the room but beware one will lock all your valuables and break because that was not suppose to be used it was only a stand for the working safe! Next lets talk about the TV, might as well not have one because the one there is not really operational to watch. Oh and if you want bugs in your room please stay here. Pool bar :if you want a virgin drink but you paid for a alcohol drink well this is the bar to hang at.. The bartender is a peach he will take shots of every drink he makes for you the music is not existent the pool side service is one person. There is nothing relaxing about this place. The food :The food at this hotel is as quality as KFC with $$$$ prices, for example: egg whites, small handful of berries and broccoli breakfast $38 and who could possible ruin that meal... This place! Gym : anyone who runs a gym or goes to a gym understand that not servicing your machines is a danger... I had to try three treadmills before finding one that work ok.. There are only 3!!!!! I could write for hours but the bottom line is this hotel needs to be closed or turned into a no tell motel. Let me also add that you front desk employee Kathleen is a very nasty person who should have never received a front desk job at your hotel. She seems to believe it is ok to entertain confrontation with guests. Maybe you should rethink her role as front desk and stick her in house keeping where she can't cause problems.

Nice hotel; but just okay service.  It has beautiful and clean rooms with a terrific pier view.  

However, when you walk around here, the service is not very attentive nor do they notice you looking lost.  This is not service you generally expect at a Hyatt Regency.

The food here is also very very average.  Both the hotel restaurant and it's operated affiliated Pelican nearby serve very average food.  I feel like you can a better bang for your buck around here.

There are two distinct parts of this property, the tower, and the motel.  We were unfortunate enough to be stuck in the motel part of the property during our two night stay.  The two story building, with individual doors from the outside to each room, resembled a Motel 6, rather than a Hyatt.  Granted, the interior decor of the room was adequate, however, you could see the lack of upkeep with scuffs on the walls, and chips and rust on the bathroom mirror.  

The most unfortunate part of the stay involved the very long walk from the parking lot to our "motel" room, located on the complete opposite corner of the property.  What really disturbed me the most was the lack of lighting at night on these deserted walkways.  More lighting is absolutely necessary, in my opinion.

Afternoons at the pool were fine, but not of the resort quality as I was expecting.  Nothing to complain about, just not as high end as I envisioned.  Pool service was a saving grace, and I admired the servers who put up with the drunkards.  It was an absolute shame that a few morons at the pool had to ruin the entire atmosphere.  No security or staff to kick out the older men who acted obscenely.  

Of course it is not the fault of the hotel, but the traffic to drive over the bridge is atrocious.  Basically once you're on property, you're stuck on the property, unless you like spending 45 minutes to drive 2000 feet.

In summary:  Not at the caliber of Hyatt properties.  At $300+ a night, I expect a bit more, even being in a tourist trap.  Let's just say that our tiny cabin on the cruise ship following this stay seemed like paradise compared to this outdated property.  

Sorry Hyatt, I REALLY wanted to like this property, but I'll have to pass on future stays until I hear of updates... maybe tear down the motel rooms and build more high end towers.

3 Star Hotel at best!  Very pricy and dated for a Hyatt !!!

The bad experience starts off when you tried to call the hotel. I tried three times before I arrived and every time the front desk said can I put you on hold and then never came back.

If you don't get a room in the tower. It is a long walk. They do not have covered walking area. And if it rains you and your luggage gets soaked.

As you walk to the rooms you can tell the hotel is dated. And the buildings that the rooms are in the painters coming off. The elevators are dirty. Everything looks very old and outdated.

When you get into your room. There is paint on the doorknobs. Mold on the seams in the bathroom and bathtub. TV is old and ancient not even a flat screen. The bed looks like it came out of the 1960s from my grandmothers house.

There are ants in the bathroom!

I ate at the pelican restaurant. And the food was horrible. Nothing is fresh everything is frozen or pre made and packaged. The only thing that's fresh are the oysters and shrimp cocktail and the fish of the day. But the entire rest of the menu after talking to the stuff it was clear that it was all frozen.

It is overpriced and you really are in for a disappointment for a Hyatt hotel.

*** Update= I decided to update my review and drop them to only two stars. After a night of frustrating connection to the Internet. The other reviews I read with the Wi-Fi problems are true.

The other major issue that I encountered while trying to sleep is that all five pillows that they give you. It's great that they are different firmness & softness. But they all smelled so bad like old musty dried urine.

It's really sad to pay $150 a night for something no better than a Motel 6!

I will definitely choose another hotel to stay overnight for my next cruise.

Stay was good. The court yard and pool area were well groomed. Room service was impeccable with timing and the food was tasty. However, there were no options for complementary breakfast not even for multiple night stay patrons. I also learned that frozen grapes, and warm towels were to be offered poolside. I did not see this during our 4 night stay. Also, the second day of our trip our room had not been serviced. Had to contact front desk to have the room cleaned and stocked with basic amenities.

Was here for a trade show and wished they booked elsewhere.

Bizarre, multi-building set up where you have to walk outdoors to get from place to place. Great if the weather is nice but this is Florida where it can pour at any moment.

Staff was rather unhelpful and the room itself seemed run down. Toilet did not work properly. The shower had erratic pressure. The TV was a bitch to operate.

And they charge for EVERYTHING. Including parking.

What a nightmare this place is. I came here for a conference, staying three nights. I booked my room about a month ago. I got in at about midnight and what do I get? The manager at the front desk telling me that they gave away my reserved room today, because I didn't call in to tell them I was going to be late. Instead, I get a room with no bed. Yes. That's right. A room with no bed. it has a TV. It has two couches. It has a dining room table that seats six people. It has a breakfast bar with two barstools. It has a sorry excuse for a kitchen with the refrigerator that doesn't fit. But does it have a bed? Nope. I get a rollaway bed with a cheap ass mattress and a couple of sheets. How does a hotel give away a room that is reserved, that I have already paid for, and they think that that's a good policy. They tried to tell me it was going to be all better because I can pack up all my stuff and move tomorrow and get a better room. they even nocked $99 off the price of this bed less room. Whoppeee! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better. At least I'm not alone in my room. I have found several dead brown millipedes laying around. The front desk manager, DAWN, referred me to a pizza place that delivers. It's called Sarpino's. She gave me a to go menu and promised that they were good. Just like the rest of the promises here, it went unfulfilled. Check out my review on them. One last saving grace would have been a hot shower. After a long flight, a nightmare with the front desk, crappy pizza, dead bugs in my room, a hot shower could at least temporarily make these things go away. not so fast. When I got into the shower, I could barely get it lukewarm after about five minutes. I finally just gave up. I'm not looking forward to a cold shower tomorrow morning.

Not my favorite Hyatt, but still relatively nice. Here for work and they are very accommodating. One of my coworkers was being kind of annoying, but she still answered all questions with a smile on her face! Very welcoming lobby and the pool area is very nice as well. The building is old and you can see where they just kind of threw paint over dated areas. It honestly reminds me of a non-all-inclusive hotel at a beach destination that tries to trick you with the professional pictures, but when you actually get here the pics aren't what you see...lol.

I don't really get the bad reviews for this Hyatt. We stayed in one of the rooms that people told us to avoid and it was fine.  Clean sheets and a clean room. I could see how a bug or two could get in through the back slider if you are lazy and don't close it, but that's not the hotels fault.

Parking is a bit expensive but we were able to get them to throw it in with the price of the room.  Bonus.

The best part of this hotel is the hot tub!  Massive!  Probably enough room for 25 people comfortably. It's also set up in a cross pattern so it lets people go to their corner and hang. The pool is equally massive and beautiful but I didn't get a chance to jump in there.

It does not appear there are many restaurants or bars within walking distance but the Hess station across the street has enough beer on hand for an enjoyable late night hot tub hang.

While this hotel might work for a large conference, it is very inconvenient for a weekend getaway!
Shuttle to the beach runs every two hours, however our return trip was over half our late due to the shuttle just plain not showing up.
Water taxi was touted yet dock was closed for construction.
To get to eat out of the hotel you must take a taxi as there is nothing nearby
So as a captive audience it's very nice, but if you want to see the beach go elsewhere!!
There is no excuse for using a shuttle company that can't even get a two hour shuttle right!!
We will not be back... Sorry!

The room was booked by our travel agency.  The website made the hotel look fantastic...wrong!!!  The whole place needs renovation and updating. For some reason when we checked in, check in switch rooms, said "It was closer". I don't  know where the first room was but the room we ended up in was disgusting.  The bathroom had mold and the corners were filthy.  Also, when we got to the room, the door was open and a security guy was on the phone, one bottle of water was open and a cup with water was left on the desk.  Most hotels offer a decent continental breakfast...not this one.  Most hotel offer free transportation to the pier...not this one.  Will never ever stay here again and will certainly never promote this hotel.

This destination does not live up to its price or the Hyatt name. My room was rather dirty, with some blood stains on the sheets... Etc. Most amenities are in disrepair. WiFi is terrible. Parking is $20+ a day. Service is rude and incoherent. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale after a red eye to find that the hotel had accidentally given away our rooms... Not a fun morning.

The saving graces of the hotel are its views and its banquet/conference amenities. Pool area is very nice as well. We also had an excellent dinner.

If you're planning a vacation to Ft. Lauderdale, I would suggest finding another place to sleep.

We just stayed here for the second time and we have been here before for drinks and a meal. It is a great property with wonderful staff. The people were amazing, helpful and extremely friendly. The staff do understand that its the people that make the difference.

We stayed for 2 days. We had a good time at the pool bar, a good time with the inside bar near the lobby where the bartender was extremely cool and well received by our group. The bartender at the pool bar was great too, very nice and accommodating. The pool bar staff is probably stressed a bit thin, as they were when we were there, but I can use the exercise and went to the bar and again, the bartender was great and extremely nice.

We stayed in Tower room 562 and it was a great view looking from NE to SE, so we were able to see, from the beaches to the port and the balcony was amazing. We spent a lot of time relaxing out there on the balcony, if you are in the tower, you will too use the balcony.

Only there for 2 days, but it is by far our favorite place to stay, I hope they have room for us for the Country Music event in April, but if not, we will come back and visit our friends staying there.

This place sucks. Ricky dicky funky.  Hotel low. Non memorable.

Rooms are very dated.  We pre paid  for a marina view.  They tried to unload a pool view on us till we pointed out their mistake. We ended up Getting our marina view all right.....but on the ground  floor looking directly at a yacht. Love seeing the owner and his wife wave at us. Geeez. In hind site the pool view probably was better. DAH. I doubt there is any good view here but the exit sign!!!!

We received what we call a "sucky yacht view" via Hyatt marketing "punch card" employees!!!  Also the room was a very Long long long walk from the reception area. I mean Lonnnng!!!  Good luck to the very old.

BTW beds are hard.  Not progressive in this area as well. Hello to proom management and marketing. It's 2015!!!

This is a 2 star at a push property.  Even though Hyatt manages it I bet the owners are cheap drawing tourist transits for cruise ships and convention types. Heck the TVs are old plasma types. But they did progress from the tubes!!!  

Truly for the price. I'd go elsewhere. Which actually we are!!!!  No real views and dated. Also the restaurant offers the most boring food and weak drinks at the bar for too much dollars.

So good luck. If your stay is "free And cheap". Well you get what they overcharge you for!!! Or your employers did.

Perfect. Loved this hotel   Room had everything. Was super clean, great mattress, wonderful view. Hotel had lots of open space for lounging. Pool area is divine couple large waterfalls, pleasant music and the pool design offers lots of private areas.  On the property is restaurant Pelican Landing with fresh delicious food at reasonable prices and you sit among the world largest super yachts. Walked to beach less than 1 mile, after happy hour took 1 dollar trolley back to front door of hotel.  All perfect

The best parts about Hyatt Hotel Pier 66 is that it captivates a certain charm that can best be said as being a "Fort Lauderdale Charm," has a wonderful garden, pool area, spacious parking lot, outstanding reception/lobby area, a rotating tower with offering the best views of Fort Lauderdale and an unsurpassed marina. On the downside, the rooms and room area hallways are however are somewhat dated and not really not up to snuff with the rest of the facilities.

The sprawling facility opened in 1965 has a lot of legend to it, some of which may be factual and some of which may not. I really don't know which is which, but it is said that it was the creation of Phillips Petroleum and named "66" after their 66th oil well which became one of the biggest and richest oil well gushers of history. The 17 story structure has 66 incorporated into part of its design with 66 decorative spikes adorning the top of its tower and a rotating top restaurant area engineered to do a complete rotation every 66 minutes. There are also 6 sided tower window areas supposedly adding up to 66 though I count more along with 66 balcony area which I have yet to have actually counted.

Original 1964 construction costs are pegged at, wouldn't you know, $6 million dollars encompassing an area that originally sprawled over 22 acres along with a 122 slip state of the art totally plush marina.

No matter what, it's an icon, one that stands out as being one of the most outstanding eye catching architectural designs of City of Fort Lauderdale and certainly one which is worth taking a look at.

Fort Lauderdale as a whole confuses me.  It's like this super touristy place that is stuck in the 1980s or something. . . right along with this hotel.

The bar area was lackluster and small, the rooms themselves match the corded phone that is hung right next to the toilet, the lobby areas are dingy and the quality of their restaurants was definitely lacking.

I don't get it.  Why do old people come here to die again??

Hyatt, please close this hotel, do not let this aged decrepit hotel carry the Hyatt name.

This hotel has definitely seen its days, cracked sink, cracked tub, beds that make an incredible amount of noise (with only one person in it) ... Room has a musty smell as well. I do not think I have stayed in a Hyatt hotel with everything to complain about. I will not be back here and I will be sure to not let anyone else make this mistake, very disappointed in the brand as a result of this stay I cannot wait to check out tomorrow morning!

The hotel is in a great location on the Intercoastal very near the ocean.  The property feels a bit tired when you arrive, and I've concluded that it's the Spartan lobby decor and lighting that's depressing.   Great valet service at the door and plenty of parking (while not free, it's reasonable for this location).  

During the day the hotel and grounds look and feel nice, clean and upscale.  I had a very nicely appointed and large King room in a villa on the garden behind the main tower.  Evenings, the hallways are lit so poorly the place gets creepy.  

Great bed.  Awful pillows.  Nice towels.  Super tub and shower head.  Great room furniture and lighting.  Best desk ever!

I just stayed here this past Wednesday - Saturday for a business trip. I was a bit apprehensive staying here based on some of the reviews I've read. Mixed, to say the least.

Having said that, my stay here was great. From check in Wednesday right through catching a cab back to the airport yesterday evening, everything went great. My room (2034) was clean, the bed was comfortable, the food in the restaurants was tasty, and all the staff I met were very friendly to deal with.

Not quite sure what some of the people here are complaining about. This property is not the Taj Mahal or the Ritz Carlton, but I don't think they're claiming to be. It struck me as a well-cared for property with a pretty enthusiastic staff. I would happily stay here again for business.

I stayed here two separate times within a week when taking a cruise out of the nearby port.  For a cruise- the location was perfect- a quick cab ride over the bridge and you are there.

The first room I had was in the tower and it was truly fantastic- very modern, incredibility clean, and quiet.  The view was amazing and I really enjoyed every minute of my stay in this room.

Coming back from the cruise, we were kicked off the boat at 8am and the hotel was super.  They were able to accommodate an early check in- without a wait. We could not be happier with the overall service.  The snag was that were we unable to stay in the tower as there were no rooms available at this early hour for check in- so we stayed in the Marina view.  

The Marina rooms are a complete different experience- it was like a different hotel entirely. The rooms were smaller, not nearly as cushy as the tower, clean, but more dated.  Overall they were just not as nice and slightly louder than the tower.  Room service seemed slower too (but this might just be the time we ordered). Our view was facing the pool- again, not bad-- just seemed so different from the tower room.

Overall this hotel is excellent (although I highly recommend the Tower over the Marina).  The pool area is fantastic, the bar area is great, the concierge was super helpful. Great stay.

We stayed in a Tower King room with inland waterway view. From the moment we walked in, service was excellent; the valet greeted us promptly; the bell person took care of our luggage; the front desk check in was efficient and when I asked for a Tower room, they had no problem changing/upgrading me.

The room was large, comfortable, clean and it had a huge balcony. There was a 40" flat screen TV, a desk with a very comfortable chair, an armchair and of course the king sized bed. On the balcony there were two chairs and a small table.

The bathroom was large and the toilet was in its separate area with plantation shutter style doors. Tub with shower with shower curtains. Single sink with large vanity area. A lighted magnifying mirror which my better half made plenty use of.

There was a regular full size hair dryer, iron w/ironing board, combination safe (in closet), small fridge (not filled with expensive mini bar items!). Full length mirror which my other half appreciated.

Overall the facilities were well kept and clean. I would definitely stay here again!

There's a lot to like about the Hyatt and a lot that could be improved upon.  Booking sites claim it to be a four star hotel, and some parts were, but the rooms were not.  The grounds are very nice and the pool is great place to lounge at all day.  Our room was right outside of the pool area which was very convenient.  The staff was really nice and accommodating as well.  Our room was supposed to be 2 queens, but was instead 2 full beds.  The biggest problem we had were the millipedes that congregated along the corners of the bathroom.

Perfect Place to "Get A Way"

We wanted a get-a-way vacation with a little sight seeing and a lot of "do nothing" time and this was the perfect hotel for just that.  Great location close to the coastal waterway and a beautiful view of the ocean and the huge yachts.  Requested a high floor in the tower with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the waterway and that is just what we got.  Floor 9 room 964 was perfect for the view and for evening shade. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants, shopping, and various activities. Parking is convenient and close to hotel.  The hotel is not new but it is well maintained and beautiful.

Check in was a breeze with very friendly staff as well as checkout.  The Lobby restaurant has the best flat bread we have every eaten it was so good we ordered it several times while we were at the pool.

Pools are super, there 3, and they have comfortable lounge chairs!  We spent a great deal of time at the pool I read 4  1/2 books down there.  Good shade, lots of umbrellas and they have big beach towels for the chairs. They have a pool bar/restaurant that is good with a good selection for lunch. The staff at the pool were so nice most days they set up our chairs and umbrellas and moved the chairs around where we wanted. Very friendly staff.

Housekeeping was excellent we were there 4 nights and each and every day our room was perfect.  The housekeeping staff did not move everything around they cleaned around things that we had laid out to use each day.  They left us lots of towels, not just the 2 u usually get, and they had the room done each day before lunch which is our favorite time. Hyatt's usually have good housekeeping but this one was far and above the rest.

We will definitely return to this hotel asking for the same room.  You really cannot go wrong with a Hyatt resort!

This hotel was REALLY nice.... in 1980.

I really love the Hyatt brand, but boy, does this location need some serious refurbishment. This didn't feel like the comfort and quality I've grown accustomed to with Hyatt.

The circa '70's popcorn ceiling was falling apart in all the rooms, causing me to question how much asbestos I was potentially being exposed to. There were no convenient outlets for plugging in phones, laptops, etc. The Wi-Fi was non-existent! Not cool when you're on a business trip! Overall, the room was run-down and dingy... and noisy! Every night, there was an extremely loud banging and grinding noise coming through the ceiling. At first, I thought it might be cruise ships docking outside, but it was definitely coming from the hotel roof.

I'm sure it's difficult to keep a large, old room looking clean, so I'll forgive the aging fixtures (except for the upgrades in the bathroom lights/mirrors), walls, and ceilings, including the beige, corded phone near the toilet (gross!)...BUT I can't look passed the huge, dirty toenail clipping (not mine - I had a pedicure) that I found in my bed! So, either the sheets weren't exactly clean, or that puppy hung on for dear life during the wash and dry cycles. Either way, it promoted a gag reflex.

I tried asking the front desk  for directions to the gym over the phone. The man who answered told me it was "next to the spa," but neglected to tell me that I wouldn't see it indoors next to the spa and I had to go outside the building to access it! I was wandering around inside for 10 minutes, going to each of the bottom four floors, trying to find the darned thing. When I went back to the front desk, the girl who was working (with the guy I had spoken to standing next to her), immediately said, "it's outside" after I said, "I called down here to ask where the gym was and I still can't find it." No apology from the guy for leaving out pertinent info... he just sheepishly looked away. Yeah, I'm not Magellan.

I ordered room service breakfast four of the six mornings during my stay. The orders were never accurate - not once. The food was sub-par as well. The bacon is tasteless (how do you accomplish that?), and the eggs tasted like they were out of a carton. The fruit was inedible.

The dinner food and service at the bar were quite good, so I spent most of my evenings perched on a stool downstairs.

The location is prime for cruisers, conventions, and business trips, which is probably why this location does so much business and charges a fortune for their rooms:
*  The convention center is just over the overpass - 1 mile
*  3 miles from downtown (Las Olas Blvd)
*  7 miles from Hallandale Beach
*  Sits right next to the cruise ship harbor and marina.
*  Beautiful views
*  NOTE: This location is not prime for beach, shopping, or downtown dining. You'll need a car.

Front desk was great and made sure to accommodate all our requests including placing us on the top floor of tower suites with a great view to check out the fireworks over the water; champagne flutes; and ice bucket.

Friendly staff, welcome basket, pool, pool bar, room service, and a lobby bar. Valet and parking were extra but for the amount of guests they had, valet service was very expedient. Welcome basket was measly but a very nice gesture.

I'd definitely come back.

My most recent visit to Hyatt Pier 66 was certainly not my first.  So let me start by explaining to you why I stay here repeatedly.

For starters, you can walk across the bridge and enjoy great dining at Market 17, or grab a quick sandwich from Laspada's.  You can hop into cab and head out on your cruise.  You can even take a (somewhat long) evening stroll over to the beach from here.  So, pretty much everything you need is right here.

Now, the down side is, when you pull up, this place screams circa 1960-ish in it's style.  This hotel is old, and it does show.  But the price is not that expensive compared to other amazing Grand Hyatt's and Hyatt's that I've stayed at.

With that being said, I am a Hyatt Gold Passport member and usually there are some perks that come with that ... not here!  You get a complimentary newspaper.  Oh golly, gee!  How exciting!!!  I don't read the paper and certainly don't care what's going on in Ft. Lauderdale unless it correlates to my vacation!

My last visit was for a real estate luxury forum for RE/MAX and it was at this hotel, so that made it convenient on so many levels.  However, the room they assigned us to had NOT been cleaned ... potato chip bags, bedding every where, chocolate chip cookies ... it looked like someone went on an all night eating binge then bolted and fast.  They did assign us to another room with a private balcony, and we had a great view of some multi-million dollar homes and the harbor and also the ocean.  Nice!

The bar is fine and it was fun to people watch ... even saw some high falutin' guy (with way too much plastic surgery in his face) and his escort (who acted like her stuff didn't stink) there for hours. Initially, I thought that was his (much younger) wife, but my friends insisted it wasn't and sure enough, when we saw him leaving in the morning, sans the girl, that was all we needed for confirmation! LOL!!

The breakfast is ok there, it has an omelet station so you really can't go wrong with that.

All-in-all, it's what I expected for what I paid.  But the convenience, that's what makes this place worthy of 3 stars, because convenience trumps a lot of other little things!

Not happy at all with Marina room.  Smells musty.
It's a fifties style motel room.  I feel unsafe in it since there is access from front and back.  Loud old A/C. Staying seven days, will be checking out much sooner.  Feels like a place I would have stayed 35 years ago when I was in college.  Front desk tried to accommodate a change, but I am here seven days and they another room.  This was booked over a month ago! Choose a marriott. Maybe the Tower is better.

Second time here and I will never be back. I am a loyal Hyatt customer and this property does not live up to the Hyatt name. I booked through Hotwire for a little cheaper rate and they refused to put me in a tower room...again!  I go online and find rooms available, but the front desk clerk said they were sold out (same LINE as last year).

The 2 story outside rooms are old, worn out, and only worth a Motel 6 rating.  Should have stayed somewhere else than spending $250 for a room that I shouldn't have paid $50 for.

I could not believe this hotel is rated 4 star this should be a 1 star hotel!  We arrived to the front desk and did an early check in and they said they would call us when the room is ready.  So we took a tour to the Everglaze holiday park since it one of the bell boy recommendation so we did that.  We never got one phone call from them.  As soon we arrived back to this hotel and stood in line again only to find out our room was ready.  We got our hotel cards keys and walked in to our room.  It was nasty musty smell!  We could not handle that smell.  We had to walk all the way back to the front desk and got another room.  They offtered us the same type of room in the same area and we said no.  They said we need to pay the difference to go into the tower room.  so we did.  And then The Front desk "Manger" Tina told us to wait again because the room wasn't ready.  So we waited another two hour and still no phone call from hotel.  We decided to go back to the front desk and they hand us a room key again without a question.  What on a point on getting our phone number and they never call?  We wasted the entired day waiting for this hotel to give us a room.  So we finally went to our room in the tower and the room key doesn't work! Again more time is wasted.  we have to go back to the front desk again to get our room key fix.  We complain how our time is wasted!  

Now the tower room is just as gross but no smell.  Everything in the room has molds just not a 4 star rating room.  We are better off finding a motel 6 rather then over paying at the Hyatt!

if you enjoy wasting time and like nasty musty smell you are welcome to pay high end prices at the Hyatt great for you.   This is the worst experiences we had with any Hotel stay we ever done! I will never come back.  They have comped us Dinner and that did not make up for the lost time we have here at Ft. Lauderdale.

I attended an event at the Pier 66.  The event itself was spectacular, the location was fine.

The pros were definitely the excellent view of both the ocean and the majesty of downtown Fort Lauderdale and good overall service by the catering staff.  They were able to accommodate a last minute vegetarian request with ease.

However, I was entirely underwhelmed with the hotel's ability to get people where they needed to go to start or end the event. It seems that the hotel has three sets of elevators, but none of them were dedicated to getting people up to or out of the event space. There was a 20 minute wait to get downstairs following the event and the elevator stopped a number of times at floors to pick up hotel guests (which obviously couldn't fit in the packed elevator).  At least one elevator should be express up and down to move the herd. Some areas of the hotel were also a little dingy.
