I have to say I grew up staying at motels for vacations, so I've never had an issue with staying in one in my adult life until now.... My boyfriend and I needed a place to stay for one night that was close to Port Everglades but not expensive... I wish I could I use the term you get what you pay for but that's an understatement.  I paid $90 to stay in this dump of a motel for 1 night.

    Define dump:

    1) Got handed a remote control when given the key to our room
    2) male specimen splattered on comforter on bed
    3) mold on curtain of shower
    4) hair in sink & shower (rusty shower drains)
    5) hair in "clean" towels (the hair was folded into it!) ew
    6) dust everywhere
    7) tile flooring
    8) door would not shut tight so air blowing in all night and shook when people walked by
    9) toilet seat cracked
    10) toilet water was yellow even after you flushed it a few times.

Positives: lights worked, short distance from Port Everglades

I do not like to bad mouth a place if I see one or two things wrong with it but my boyfriend and I will both admit we were afraid to stay at the motel that night when we went in and almost went to look for another place.  It was horrendous and sketchy as hell.

Stayed at the Lafayette Motel with 2 family members this February. On the plus side it is directly across from the beach. That is the only good thing I can say about the stay here. When we arrived we were forced to pay for our week upfront. We had asked for an upper floor- we were on the ground level. We called and asked if the pool was heated and we were told it was. The filter wasn't even on the disgusting pool when we got there- never mind the heat! The microwave was hanging into the sink, the stove was rusty, there were bugs in the cabinets, the mattresses are covered in plastic, we didn't even have a fitted sheet just two top sheets. there was vomit or urine stains all over the bathroom walls and toilet. There is no "do not disturb" option! I saw the maid mop the floor with toilet water- i kid you not. Mold on everything! The ac only had one setting and was extremely loud and dripped into the room, the windows were filthy inside and out. Weird stains on the ceilings. The price was not worth it. Stay as far away as you can. Oh and undesirable people hanging around at all hours of the day and night. And it's loud. Awful awful awful.

    * EDIT * - and the towels we received were dirty. I don't mean stained- I mean used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's an OK motel located right across the street from the beach; it's the cheapest one I could find this close to the beach (big plus). It's very simple/basic and have most of the necessities, except that the TV didn't work at all and the wireless Internet didn't work most of the time. It wasn't particularly clean and I was surprised that they didn't make our beds when they cleaned the room. It's a lot of noise as it's located right next to a busy street.
