    Love this place!!!!  Absolutely beautiful!
Others complained about being outdated and I think they are crazy!  Rooms need a face lift....huh????  Beautiful mosaics, gorgeous tile and marble.  I would not change a thing.  For the money this is way better than the Ritz any day!!!  Had a great time relaxing by the huge pool.  The staff for the beach was amazing.  The food was very good, fresh and reasonable for upscale dinning.  Had the ma hi ma hi sandwich for lunch and for $14....it was worth every penny.  Very big piece of grilled fish on a fresh bun with a huge slice of red ripened tomato, onion and lettuce with a large portion of fries...crispy.  I was in heaven eating every bite.  Not crowed with rowdy young drunk people.  There were lots of families with kids but they were quiet.  I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing time.
ahhhhh I don't want to leave!

Love love love Lago Mar! I have stayed there many times, but haven't been back in a couple years.

Request to stay one of the rooms that is in the same building as the lobby, it's the nicest. And I reccomend booking through the hotel, because the one time we booked through expedia.com we were given an inferior room in the old building...even when the room we requested was available.

As far as the resort it self goes:

Lago Mar is one of the few Ft. Lauderdale resorts that is located on the beach.

It has a soda shop where you can buy snacks, get ice cream, and eat at the diner.

They have one fine dinning restuarnant that has both indoor and outdoor seating. The only problem we had with this was that they didn't change their menu options a lot. And there would be years in between our trips. But none the less the food was still good.

There is a bar located close to the restuarant, and a nice lounge too.

They have a Spa, which was nice the one time I went for a polish change.

The concierge are always nice and helpful.

    Overall great place!

The reviews of this hotel were all so glowing, I was suspicious that they were planted by hotel employees. But when I arrived, I found this hotel lived up to the hype, and was even better than the photos. Yes, it's older South Florida style. But it has been meticulously maintained, with high end finishing touches. Granite in the bathrooms, ornate wood paneled elevators, beautiful marble floors. The room was a great value for the price, with a separate bedroom (two double beds) and a large living room with balcony over the pool. Everything was impeccably clean. (Pls note that the negative reviews I saw all seemed to be several years old.)  The meandering pool felt like a high-end Caribbean resort, with plenty of lounge chairs, a poolside cabana bar with TERRIFIC, reasonably priced food, free canvas chairs for the private beach. There were lots of FREE activities for the kids - outdoor ping pong, giant chess set, mini golf, free tennis rackets (you buy and keep the balls for $5/can), shuffle board and a playground. It's tucked away on the south end of the Harbor Beach neighborhood, probably too far for most families to walk to the more lively nightspots and restaurants of Las Olas blvd., so you would want a car. But it was a quick drive to tons of wonderful waterfront restaurants with great food. Just ask Nicole, the poolside waitress for her recommendations! I was traveling with my two sons (7 & 10) and Mother-in-Law, and we all loved it. I will definitely go back!
Stayed April 2012, traveled with family

The Lagomar Resort is conveniently located to everything Fort Lauderdale has to offer yet you feel miles away from the crowds because it's tucked away ON the beach and is quite, peaceful with a genuinely caring staff. The Gift shop offers a fabulous selection of just about everything.  An ample selection of swimsuits for men & women of all ages.   The food is delicious and well-priced.  The traditional accommodations are spacious and very comfortable.  An authentic, privately owned Florida Resort that is clean and excellently maintained.   A previous guest commented about a slow elevator but since the french fries are so delicious, I was happy to take the stairs.

Stayed 5 nights on business. (If my boss is reading this, I swear I made it to work everyday!!!)

+ Peaceful property location. It is nestled in a residential area away from the main drag of hotels. The beach is a private beach so you get less nonsense than other areas and from your room you are only steps away from the sand. You cannot beat that. All this just offered a very safe, relaxing, care free atmosphere.

+ Rooms are massive with excellent amenities. Comfortable beds, walk in closet with a safe, a separate living area complete with fridge, sink, microwave. 2 tvs. And if my boss is reading this, a desk where I did my work.

+ Excellent staff. Complimentary beach towel service.

+ Free parking. You can valet if you want, but I didn't have to.

    - Parking. Parking is limited when it's busy and the parking spaces are very compact. But if you can find a space, don't complain.

    - Limited food choices. The restaurant is great on-site, but if you want to go out for something quick, nothing is super close. But this is the price you pay for being in such a peaceful residential neighborhood.

    - Some may call it ol' skool Florida charm, but I felt the rooms could have used a little updating. Overall the style does lend to the property's charm and it wasn't horrible. The couch and some areas of carpet in my room could have used a little steam cleaning though.

If you want to party all night on Las Olas Blvd then take the party back to your hotel then this place is definitely not for you. Lago is definitely more catered to a quieter crowd and families looking for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing stay. I was looking for somewhere on the beach that can guarantee me a good nights sleep, because if my boss is reading this, I had to be up early every day to get to work.

Lago met all my expectations and is a recommended place to stay.

This place is incredible. The service is given with a smile and the location is right on the beach. Rooms with views of the ocean are available and provide gorgeous panoramic views of the beach, ocean and cruise ships coming in and out of Ft. Lauderdale's ports.

One thing that wasn't so good is the Internet connectivity. Frankly, it is aweful throughout most of the resort. I had to call the front desk and they sent someone to my room with a wireless network bridge. That solved the problem but the system requires several logins per day if you want to maintain a connection. I've stayed at Holiday Inns with better online practices. Worst of all, the hotel censors what sites you can go to! They decide what sites might have spyware, or might contain objectionable content and they block you from it. They also block you from using proxy sites such as anonymouse.org . I don't think it is the job of any hotel to block you from accessing sites. Maybe that's just me, but I think that is too strict.

Frankly, you shouldn't be spending much time on the Internet in such a beautiful part of the world. There is so much to see and do nearby.

My husband surprised me on Friday with a night at Lago Mar!  I had no idea this place even existed!  20 minutes E on 595 and we were there - instant vacation which bodes well on a late Friday afternoon after work~!  The resort is huge and tucked back off of 17th street/A1A area.

After a very easy check in, we walked to our room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and somewhat of the ocean.  We had a nice big suite with a king sized bedroom, a small full kitchen, a living room and a balcony!  The decor is a bit on the dated side but everything is in amazing condition (aside from our scale that was out of batteries and the elevator that had us trapped for 5 minutes) and extremely clean.

We headed straight for the pool bar.  The service was incredible from ALL of the bar staff.  Our bartender had the best personality and really made us feel welcome!  After a couple of drinks we enjoyed the beach and the ocean.  The ocean was churning out big waves and the water was nice and warm!  The pool is one big circle which is a clever design for privacy.  The next morning we ate at one of their restaurants outside and had excellent service, really good food, etc.  We were a bit hungover and didn't eat a lot of our dishes and the server had the manager come over just to make sure that we were ok with everything even after we told him that we were ok.  That shows me that customer satisfaction is their #1 priority.  Don't worry server, you were amazing as was the food and we were sure to let the manager know how satisfied we were!

Really the ONLY downfall of the entire 24 hours was that the elevator kept breaking and with my husbands bad hip and 5 flights of stairs that sort of sucked.  Just before coffee and on a bit of a hangover, we got stuck between the 2nd and 1st floors.  I am a huge
claustrophobe and became extremely freaked out that I might have broken some of my hand banging on the door for someone to hear us.  I just kept pushing buttons and completely forgot about the phone.  It felt like an hour but I'm guessing they found us within 5 minutes and we were out of there within 60 seconds of them discovering we were trapped.  Again, the service at this place was unbelievable!

No doubt we will be back as this experience was exactly what we were looking for...far enough from our 'real lives' that we felt like we were detached and away but close enough to when it was all over and we were exhausted, we were able to throw ourselves back in the car and home within 20 minutes.  LOVE IT!  Lago Mar - we will be back!

I got to experience the luxury at Lago Mar on a recent trip to Florida to visit my mom.  She's a member of the club there so we frequented the pool area almost everyday of my visit.  The service is outstanding and done with a smile and the grounds are gorgeous.  I would love to come back with my boyfriend and stay in the hotel sometime.

    Ok first the plus's.
Has a bit of a vintage feel to it.. or boutique hotel I think you may call it, from the wood panel elevator that takes for ever to move from 3 to first floor to the colourful coridor carpet.

Great private beach and gym, two big pools and plenty of space to just sit back and relax.
Room was massive and it was only for me and it had two double beds in there was a rate of $175 a night.
Its own shop with all the things you would need.. usual chair and table service whilst on the beech and the staff are very friendly but not cringe worthy over the top friendly.
Its good for older couples wanting some home comforts and more. When I was there I felt like the only solo traveller and that felt a bit weird.
Good for families with younger children, although I could see teenagers getting a little bored here if staying for more that a few days.

If you want you can walk north along the beach to get to the main beach it will take you about 30 minutes walk in the heat to get to the main strip.

    Ok the minus.
Get a car.. its a given anyhow in the US. See my reviews and you will see I have been to some great places only 10-15mins drive away.. but this would take for-ever to walk.
I walked once from Las Olas RiverFront and that took me nearly an hour at night to get home.

The next place you can eat is Hyatt and thats probably a 20 minute walk in the heat.. so you will either blow cash on Taxis as I did for first two days or just get a car.. they can arrange but their is an Avis @ the Hyatt who looked after me as I use them in the UK.
Food... given the limited choices in the area for eating this place could try offering better choice of food.. Nothing that original or inspiring and quite pricey.
I had buffet Breakfast @ Hyatt Dallas for $20 (inc tip) and was brilliant.. good cooked breakfast options and lots of fruit and pastries to choose from.

Coming here I only had breakfast once.. as I would rather drive down the road to the Cafe I reviewed on the main beach for half the price and something tastier.
Plus if the weather is good you have to guard your food against the blackbirds that will literally steal your food from in-front of you.. plus they make a very awful noise that spoils what is a nice pool side setting.

Overall I good place plus once you have a car a great location for getting in and out of Fort Lauderdale and also to the Airport.
If they could sort out the bird situation and maybe offer some food thats a bit more interesting would be a fantastic place.(then you would be a five)

Stayed at Lago Mar and thinking it is the best deal around.  $200 / night for a 1 bedroom suite overlooking the most beautiful pool with a private beach.  The beds are comfortable.  My friends all kept saying "Why didn't you tell us about this place before?"  If you fly into Ft Lauderdale you're just a short distance from the airport and yet you feel like you're miles away from everything.

We chose Lago Mar for the first big family vacation with The Poop in tow.  What a great place.  Upon our arrival, we were upgraded to a swank two bedroom, three bathroom suite overlooking the ocean.  Comfy beds, nice clean room, and quiet (but for the ladies on the balcony below us discussing "Fifty Shade of Gray").  The service was great and the food was better than typical hotel fare.  We will definitely be returning.

Stayed at Lago Mar for 5 days and 4 nights in a one bedroom suite, with 2 bathrooms,a full kitchen,LR with sofa bed,DR, and an ocean front balcony. Resort is Family oriented. Took our teenage daughter and son.
It has two pools, a pool bar, a private beach, restaurants, gym, spa, gift shop, soda shop and tennis courts.  Everything you need all in one place  Enjoyed the beach, pool, and  drinks.  Family enjoyed the Breakfast Buffet each morning at one of the restaurants while I enjoyed my coffee in my ocean front balcony.
Las Olas Blvd.  is within walking distance.  Where you can find restaurants, bars and stores.
    We  will be back!

We were looking for a beach front, ocean view room at a resort that was close to an airport, as we were traveling with our 13 month old daughter.

Lago Mar turned out to be the perfect location which met all of the things we were looking for.

We stayed in an ocean view, 1 bedroom suite with a full kitchen, and a balcony that overlooked the beach and ocean.  The resort also put a high chair and a crib in our room, so we were able to put our daughter to bed in the bedroom and then hang out on the balcony and in the living room.

The lagoon style pool was great, and the private beach was incredible.  We spent most of our vacation at the resort as it was an ideal setting.

You do need to rent a car if you plan on doing anything else in Fort Lauderdale, as the place is off the beaten path a bit and is not walkable to anything.

The wireless signal was poor - both phone and Wifi.  Not sure if this was specific to where our room was located though.

The furnishings in the room were a bit dated, and the A/C was very cold in the living room but warm in the bedroom.  Otherwise we had 0 complaints.

We would definitely love to stay at Lago Mar again!

Even though the weather was not cooperating at all, this resort was still AMAZING! We stayed at Lago Mar right after New Year's and right before our amazing Caribbean cruise. It was a crazy cold spell in Florida where lizards were freezing and falling out of trees and injuring people standing below... but, anyways...

Our room was a full suite with a good-sized bedroom, big living room, patio, little kitchen, and big bathroom perfect for primping. The huge property also included nice pools (that we couldn't use because it was too cold!), poolside bars (still fun even in full sweatsuits!), a huge chess set, hammocks, a playground for kids, an easy walk to the beach, a beautiful spa, a nice little gym, and SO MUCH MORE!

The room service is great too (though a little pricey) and we ate a big brunch of yummy food in one of the restaurants. At Lago Mar you get a beautiful property with top-notch service and all the amenities you could be looking for!

Held a team building weekend for a client and his customers at the Lago Mar.  The property is excellent for business meetings, private events on the beach and can accommodate those traveling with children.  Overall successful event and very happy with the management team at the Lago Mar.

Pros: nice wide beach, clean facilities, nice carpet etc.

Cons: incredibly boring, staff is not polite, slow/malfunctioning single elevator, very old fashioned.

Good for an older crowd but don't see the appeal for anyone under 65. They automatically include 18% gratuity for everything, which basically takes away any incentive for the staff to treat you nice.

    Quite a dull experience!

The people who own & run this resort know what they are doing. Its on the beach w/ 2 pools. Very clean & not a loud crowd. Tasteful. Rooms are spotless w/ many amenities. Staff is amazing. Helpful. Free parking so you don't feel nickel and dimed.  I'll be back. This is the place to go  for relaxation and being close to the Ft. lauderdale/Las Olas strip.

I stayed here with my family for 5 days in August 2014. I had a nice time despite all the negatives, but for the price and quality, I would rather be in the Caribbean!

    The positives:
The beach is huge, and you can rent umbrellas and chairs ($25 per day which is outrageous - certainly a negative).
The location was decent - close to shops, restaurants, and other (nicer) beaches. You definitely need a car though.
Staff was nice, and I appreciated the cold water provided for guests at the towel stand.

    The negatives:
The beach is big, but I hated the fact that it's right next to the port where all the cruise ships and cargo ships come in and out of every day. Those cargo ships are not only an eye-sore, but they emit so much smoke into the air! The water is also a little murky, due to the ships. The beach was pretty rocky, which I didn't notice at first, but when I drove 20 minutes north to Lauderdale Beach and realized how much cleaner and rock-free it was, it bothered me when I got back to Lago Mar's beach.
The rooms were outdated, and carpeted. I thought that was odd and just not sanitary. They were hideously dirty as well. Who has carpet at a beach resort? This has to go.
The pull-out sofa beds were the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept on, including air mattresses while camping. I was going to take the mattress off and sleep on the floor, but due to the carpet, I figured I would rather discomfort than sleep in mildew. Unfortunately, one of the sofa beds was filled with bedbugs. Honestly. My younger sister slept in that bed for all but the last night, and had bites all over her legs throughout the vacation. We weren't sure what it was, until I slept in that bed the last night we were there. The next morning, I woke up with bites on my legs. I've traveled a ton and have never experienced this anywhere.
Also, the breakfast was disgusting. Awful. And ridiculously overpriced even if it was good.
I also didn't like how nowhere on the resort accepted cash. I didn't like charging everything to the room, but this is just personal preference.
I obviously will not be back and would not recommend this to hotel to anyone.

I attended a wedding which was planned in-house at Lago Mar the first week in January.  The suite was apartment sized and extremely well decorated thought out.  The facility is over-all the most spotless and clean hotel I can remember staying at and that includes 60 years of traveling the world.
The wedding rehearsal dinner and the post-wedding dinner were beautifully catered for the event and there were zero hiccups.  The dining room is restricted to hotel guests and the room is lovely and the servers were tops.  I highly recommend Lago Mar for a top drawer experience.

Great location.  Within a neighborhood community, and not on the main road.  Off the beaten path, and nicely secluded.  Large private beach, pool areas, and rooms with great views.  Food and drinks are pricey, but very good.

Only downside is this is more of a family resort than for a romantic getaway as we had attempted.  Kids everywhere screaming.  Just does not fit the type of experience you'd expect at the type of resort this is, for how expensive the rooms are, patrons should be able to enjoy SOME peace and quiet while there.  Never happened.  It was like a day care, with parents looking to have their own good time and not keep an eye on their kids.  I was AMAZED at kids running rampant near the beach at night when it was dark, while their parents sat way over on the patio eating and drinking.  I experienced this over and over, as my husband and I tried to go for our walks at night on the beach, and parents would scream over to their children to see if they were okay.  I would never let my child out of my sight like that.  Very self absorbed parents there.  Leave your kids at home next time if you want to enjoy yourself.  Then WE could enjoy ourselves too.  Believe me.

Then imagine, sitting down to celebrate your anniversary with a nice bottle of wine and full course meal to the tune of nearly $200, to have the service/entry door open and close over and over again with small kids running in to steal mints, in their wet bathing suits with swimming diapers and bare feet, all the while they jump up and down, horse around, making noise.  GREAT ambiance for a romantic meal (eye roll).    NOTE TO MANAGEMENT.....curtail that completely.  You were standing right there at the reception area of the restaurant.  Tell these kids not to run in and out.  Very disappointed with how our anniversary dinner went.  Not romantic at all.

The best suggestion I can give this hotel, is to revamp your promotion strategy and get rid of the family draw appeal.  You have a gem of a resort, in a jewel of a location, and it would serve you better to cater to couples and weddings.  The kids just kill the atmosphere.  Don't go here if you're looking for romance.  The website is completely fake, and you will not experience anything they are marketing through their website.  You will get there and be completely disappointed if you are looking for a quiet, romantic spot.  This place, is not.  Within two minutes of arriving and walking through the chaos, we looked at each other and said "oh no".  What a disappointing way to feel just after you arrive.  And it never got any better, as I dreaded each time we left our room.  The only way to get away from the chaos and relax, was to banish yourself to your room.  Sad.

Me, my two daughters, and my husband stayed at Lago Mar for a week. We had two rooms - one for me and the girls - the other for my husband.

There are so many great things about Lago Mar. The resort is fabulous . . . it reminds me of a resort from another time. It has almost a boutique-y feel. The rooms are large, spacious, calm, and CLEAN. The beach and pool areas are beautiful and well maintained. The crowd here is classy, almost on the boring side. We were surrounded by other like minded people and Louis Vuitton beach bags - LOL! :)

We had a fantastic time at Lago Mar and can't wait to return to the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area.

Post cruise we decided to spend 3 more nights before heading back up to NJ. The first night we checked into the marriott beach & spa and we're very disappointed with the small room and tiny double beds (family of 4). Very crowded hotel with no space by the pool...and had to pay for any extras (including pool floats for kids!!). We checked out after one uncomfortable night and checked into the great find that is the Lago Mar Resort. This is a very friendly more relaxed feel hotel, fantastic pools, games for the kids, bars, restaurant and private beach. Perfect location and beats the "branded" hotels hands down. We got a suite with a kind bed, and the kids have 2 sofa beds in the HUGE living area. We will definitely be coming back here just to stay at this hotel. Highly recommended!!

We enjoyed our stay at Lago Mar. The furniture and decor were definitely dated, and the carpet in the common areas of the rooms were scary. Why have carpet in a beach resort with multiple pools? Sounds like a recipe for mildew and disaster. The balcony was nice and large. The restaurant we ate at for dinner was pretty good. The beach was gorgeous and made our stay incredible. It is a bit far to walk into any part of town, so I would highly suggest renting a car. The staff was incredibly friendly and for that we would return.

I just stayed at the Lago Mar for seven nights with my husband and two kids.  We took a one-bedroom suite with a kitchen. It had a balcony that overlooked the pool.

The room was clean and had two flat screen televisions, one in the living room and one in the bedroom.  The living room had a pull out couch where both kids slept.  There was an issue with the locks in the room.  The bedroom and bathroom locks pressed in on the door handle but you could still open the doors from the other side.  This could affect your privacy.  I'm positive that the staff could have fixed the issue but we never got around to calling the front desk about it.

The room had a full kitchen and it was worth it.  We stocked up at the Publix supermarket nearby and were able to have breakfast in the room as well as snacks, wine and beer.  We also brought home the leftovers from dinner and sometimes had that for lunch the next day.

Everyone had an amazing time at the resort. We stayed over the July 4th holiday and watched the fireworks from the beach.  The beach chairs that are rented out during the day were not locked up and everyone was allowed to sit on the beach chairs for free during the fireworks.

The staff all around the resort were helpful. The best feature of the resort was the pool. There are two pools. One was a large free form pool with deep water and mostly older kids and adults stayed in that area.

The other pool was the highlight for my kids. It resembled a lazy river, but had no rafts for floating. The depth was never more that 4'9" so my 6 year old could swim without me in the pool. There were always plenty of lounge chairs available.

The covered pool grill restaurant was right next to the pool and is convenient for drinks, snacks and lunch while swimming in the afternoon.  We ate dinner at the other restaurant on site, called Aquario, for two of the nights.  There was a special offer of a $30 three-course meal and the kids could eat free for each adult meal that was purchased.  The dinners were excellent and my kids liked their food.

This is one of the few oceanfront resorts in Fort Lauderdale that is secluded from the crowded A1A beachfront strip where the crowds (and drunken people) hang out. You cannot get to Lago Mar from the public beach area; it is situated a few miles south of there, close to the cruise ship terminal.

I highly recommend Lago Mar to families traveling with kids or anyone who is staying in Ft. Lauderdale before or after a cruise.

The room was awesome!  However, when we were outside of our room I felt like we were in a day care.  Kids were everywhere screaming and crying.  It seemed no matter where you went you couldn't get a quiet place to relax.  I would only come here if I was vacationing with kids.

The service is what makes this place so special. We have been visiting here for over 13 years. Lovely.
The pool area and the private beach are a great experience for anyone.
They have a life size chess floor game, shuffle board, play grounds and poor bar.
Mature servers, we experienced and know their jobs and priorities well.
    Nice experience overall.

We love Lago Mar! The pools and the beach are great. The food has been delicious. Most of all we love the way the staff treats guests. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure that you have a great stay!

The place was pretty nice. The rooms were large and clean. The bathrooms slightly outdated. I felt like there were not any fun activities available for the hotel guests. The food was horrible. Honestly. Overpriced and absolutely no flavor. I don't understand how no one is upset about the food! The ice cream parlor on the other hand, was phenomenal!

The resort is great if you are over 75. The food is typical of any bar menu and overcooked. The staff tried to be friendly but is frankly rather rude. They don't seem to know of any activities out side of the resort.

The place has great amenities such as beach access, two nice pools, mini golf, volleyball and tennis courts.   Too bad the upkeep is nonexistent.

The rooms are large and clean however.

In the end, great place to stay in the 1980s. Won't go back unless I find myself a time machine!

Slightly dated yet charming ftl beachside escape chock full of pools, hammocks, gigantic chess board, beach recreation for friends and family. What i dont like is that this private club/ resort caters to members and guests only. We arrived on property to meet a friend who was a guest and decided to wait at the outdoor pool bar and grab a drink. They practically serve you the beer, then take it away when they find you are not a member/guest as they do not handle cash or credit card to ring up purchases for outsiders. In fact none of their outlets will sell you food and drink if you aint a member, so get up on that tax bracket or get out. Yikes.

Let's. Start off by saying the service at this resort is awesome.  The resort is run like a cruise ship, everything gets charged to your room.  The private beach is nice , sure wish the hammocks were not in the kiddie area.
This resort is old needs updated.   I felt like i was back in the 70's .  It was an older crowd of people when we were here.  Felt like a retirement home.  Its far from the action and you have to drive to it and get ready to pay for parking every where you go.   The room service menu was horrible and the dinner restaurant was expensive.  I won't be back.

An upscale, low-rise beach club/hotel that provides polite and courteous service, private beachfront access, and a lush, tropical pool area to relax and recenter.  It's location is tucked away in a spot that assures you won't have many run-ins with some of the creepier, transient types that have made their way to Fort Lauderdale's beaches in recent years.

The restaurant/beach bar serves good food and drinks (my burger was cooked to order and my drink was perfect). Note they only serve members and their guests and those staying at the hotel, so it's not the type of beach bar you can stop in to for just a drink or a bite.  I stayed here for a weekend a few years ago, and the rooms were spacious, comfy, clean and well-kept. Lago Mar is great for families young and old seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of Fort Laudy!

It's a family - kid friendly beach hotel. If you are over 40 you will love it, if you are not in that category there are many other great options in ft lauderdale.
Staff is friendly, nothing spectacular. One of the few options with private beach in ft lauderdale that does not get crowded for sure

The Good: My sister and her 3 kids stayed at Lago Mar for one week.  For a family this was a superb place to stay.  The rooms were beautiful and while alittle dated, we had a junior suite which had a kitchenette and 2 double beds with a balcony that overlooked their gorgeous pool.  The rooms were very clean and if something was needed all you had to do was call the front desk and the hotel staff would accommodate as much as possible.  They have a private beach which was right off the pool area.  There are umbrellas and cabana's for rent and their is a waitress that comes back and forth from the bar to serve you drinks.  As for Nicole she had been there for 8 years and is awesome! The pool side bar and food was excellent for lunch or dinner and there were several other places to eat on the resort. We did not have to leave the resort the entire week we were there.

The Bad:  I think the service was lacking. While there were a few people that were excellent, there were some that lacked customer service skills and at a resort that is paramount! Also, the spa left a lot to be desired as my massage was not good at all.  However, you might be lucky and get someone better.  One of the most frustrating things was that our WIFI didn't work well.  We were at Lago Mar on spring break and there were a lot of people there so that could be the reason but regardless we had 4 devices and all require our data plan otherwise we were streaming to find service.

I will say, that the issues that were of bother to me was brought to the hotel staff's attention. The general manager bent over backwards to correct any concern we had.  He was genuinely concerned about our happiness while at the resort.  When you go away for a week that kind of attitude is a must when in travel and his kindness was much appreciated.

Over all I would go back to this resort with family in a heartbeat!
