History

Established in 1953.

The Ocean Manor Resort has rested upon the Atlantic shore of the Galt Ocean Mile for a half a century. The story behind this beachfront property is filled with excitement and daring, adjectives that also describe the life of its visionary, James S. Hunt. In 1953, Hunt purchased 2466 acres of barren oceanfront land from Arthur Galt, for whom the mile strip is named. At the time, it marked the biggest real estate transaction in America; in today's dollars translating into an approximate $143 million deal. The Ocean Manor would soon lay the cornerstone, becoming the first hi-rise hotel and condo built directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The city's gratest boom would soon follow.

This hotel has always been a favorite of mine.  They have recently redone and updated most of the hotel.  I have to agree though Valet needs a little improvement since there is hardly any self parking.  This hotel is not really close or walking distance to the popular nightlife.  They have amazing room service.  It's a great "get away" type of place if you dont want to leave the resort.  Its gets a little annoying if you do.  It gets pricy depending on when you want to stay.  They do offer about 3 different views to choose from all different price ranges.

This place is horrible and its not even cheap! The valet are extremely rude and told us we had to pay each time we parked which we found out was a lie once we asked the front desk, then had to wait for a refund from Valet Manager who didn't even apologize! Our room had roaches, yes i said roaches! that scattered everywhere when you turned on the lights, and when we asked what they were going to do about it the lady at the front desk acted like she was stuck on stupid and told me she would send someone up BUT she never did. The pool was packed so no chairs to sit on and since this property is on the beach you would think ok just go on down to the beach then right? wrong! because of all the jet ski rentals the water smells like gas and is super dirty!

The pool resembles a community pool; leaves nothing to be desired.. They BBQ right next to the pool area so you'll smell like a roasted pig if you stay there too long, which we did, since they didn't have the room ready at check-in.
When we were sent up to our "suite," housekeeping was still "cleaning," I use this term loosely. The room had a nice view, which you have to enjoy from the comfort of your monkey-smelling-musty room. The furniture looked like it had been through the civil war and the fully-stocked kitchen didn't even have silverware BUT it did come fully-stocked with a past guest's breakfast - yup, we found 2 full plates of breakfast stowed away in the microwave.. Disgusting..
The AC unit in the master room was leaking and the floor began to get flooded. A spare unit was brought in that needed to be manually emptied every 2 hours or it would shut off.
We got 2 towels for a suite that sleeps 8, yeah, you do the math..
Finally, we decided to ask for our money back, which they gave back, and then rudely told us to get our stuff out right away, b/c they were going to rent out the suite to someone else, with no working AC and in the filthy condition it was in. Gross, rude, unaccommodating - wouldn't stay here if u paid me..

Hmmm, interesting reviews since this hotel and tiki bar was featured recently on Hotel Impossible and Bar Rescue with same owner seen each episode. Apparently the bad service and poor condition the place was in didn't improve after the visit and renovations by these experts. Perhaps next owner will do better since the business is obviously failing. Disappointed to see the reviews after all the hard work both experts put into helping to save this business.  Seeing the middle aged owner chasing pretty blonde employees in Bar Rescue was concerning so don't think I would want my daughters working for  him and I would be reluctant to patronize a business where the owner is a pervert

Had the worst manicure and pedicure at the On the Ocean Beauty Salon & Spa located in the lobby... Will never go back there even if I was offered for free as I was promised but they didn't even bother calling back as promised! Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I stayed here in late April with my parents, sister, and daughter. The room is okay, a little outdated but right for the price except they don't have wifi in the room. We were on the 10th floor and had to come downstairs to the lobby to use the internet. They have a business center with a ridiculous charge; OK so my  complaint is about their customer service, where do I begin...

1.   We were locked out of our room 3 times (we were staying for a week) when we asked the front desk they said that we had checked out already! Everytime! what? Not even once did they apologize for the inconvenience.

2.  Valet - we paid for the full week of valet service upfront and the valet attendants scratched our car twice! When we asked what had happened they said there was nothing they could do, tried to reach a manager (never onsite) and finally someone said it was a rental car, not to worry about it! Thank God I had purchased insurance!

3. Tiki Bar charged a tip (18%) on a pizza that we had ordered and were taking up to our room! When we asked about it, the manager (the person that we placed the order with and charged a tip) said that was standard, however, we had bought food to bring up to our room before and never had a fixed tip. He was very rude to say the least!

4. Finally, on our last day there, my mom spotted a cockroach in the room! Well, at least we didn't bring any back home!

Never staying at this hotel ever again!

PS. The only person in a good mood working at this hotel was the cleaning lady, very efficient and with a smile she cleaned one day while we were still in the room.

My brother had booked his wedding at the Ocean Manor, so we booked our rooms as part of their wedding party.  To say this hotel still needs some work would be putting it mildly.  While it has a great location on the beach and the Tiki Bar and food are great, that's about where the good things end.  From having to make SEVERAL trips up with our things for the wedding since a luggage cart was nowhere to be found, to only 1 set of towels for a double bed room, to mold, missing lamp shades...  I could go on and on with all the problems our group had with our rooms.  And, supposedly since we had booked under the wedding party we were in the "updated, best" rooms on the property.  I shuddered to think what the other rooms look like.  The good news is that Hotel Impossible was there filming their follow-up, so hopefully they will keep working to make improvements, as I think this property has potential.

Honestly I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Fact is, with this hotel you get more than what you pay for. It isn't an expensive place but it has exactly what is needed! Sure there are some funky things in the room (like 2 microwaves but only one that works)... but at the end of the day you SHOULD book this hotel if you want the below perks:
1) Great pool
2) Private beach that is literally over a small wall from the pool
3) Cool tiki bar
4) Efficiency suite so you can have lunches in
5) A valet that can call you a cab quickly
6) Grocery and liquor store practically across the road
7) Restaurants in walking distance or a short cab ride away

DO NOT go for this hotel if:
1) You are a chain hotel snob... the rooms have character
2) You want close nightlife in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale or Hollywood beach
3) You want a hotel close to the airport

You better bet I'll be back to this place... we were upgraded without even asking, the location for relaxation was perfect, and overall we just had a wonderful time. Thanks Ocean Manor!!!

This hotel is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. To start with we were told you have to use valet parking. Which makes no sense because they only move the cars no more than 30 yards from the entrance. The lobby isn't too bad. The elevators are very loud. One of them says your on the 2nd floor but your actually on lobby level. Another elevator stops on the second floor no matter what floor you want to go to. Our room was discusting. The kitchen sink and the bathroom sinks were backed up. We reported this to the manager immediately upon checking in. He said he would get maintenance to fix it. It was never fixed or even looked at. We complained again at checkout. The response we got was "sorry about that". There was holes in the walls covered with pictures (we noticed this because they had pictures in odd places like on a mirror. It was hiding a broken piece). Bathroom was nasty. Holes, missing outlet covers, wires and cables hanging from the ceiling. As other reviewers noted. False alarms going off in the middle of the night. Only had two towels. Zero wash cloths. Broken bed. Bed had hair all over the sheets. The other bed had what looked to be peanut butter on the sheets. Who knows when the sheets were changed last. I really am not making this stuff up. This place should be shutdown. With that said. The tiki bar was nice and its located right on the beach. The pool is not too bad. But PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

This place is so bad it ought to be shut down. The hallways, the main one commonly known as "cockroach hallway" is filthy, the rooms are also dirty, in horrid condition and none of the staff seems to know what they are doing or suppose to be doing. Also, its facilities such as the Tokyo Blue restaurant and the Tiki Bar now share in the distinction of having the highest fines imposed on them by health food inspectors of any food service places located in Broward County. In short, it's a disaster of a place.

As four and five star resort travelers that stay at resorts year round we can now tell you that Ocean Manor Resort is the sexiest elegant resort ever!  From the moment you drive up to the property you can feel the vibe as you are met by valets that are friendly - yes friendly and running.  The lobby is gorgeous in contemporary art deco with shiny white marble high backed chairs and the perfect chandelier.  You may by now be getting a sense of our attention to detail LOL!  Adjoined is the ultra-chic Tokyo Blue sushi restaurant done in contemporary blacks and blues.  As you walk into your room you are met with floor to ceiling windows with the white water waves feeling as if they are rolling into your room.  The room is perfectly appointed in contemporary art deco.  Open your sliding glass door to the sound of the waves which those of you in the know is pure relaxation and views of the pool and white water waves.  The pool is happening with rolling laughter and not your Four Seasons pinkie in the air crowd.  Adjoining the pool is the Bamboo Tiki Bar which is always happening with a good mix of locals and travelers and open until 2:30AM so you can have cocktails and have the elevator whisk you to your room.  Having a Pina Colada at a Tiki Bar on the sand listening to the sound of the waves is of course pure paradise!  The beach is well manicured each morning with chaise lounges and Jet Ski rentals 20 yards down the beach.  We like to play and we like our quiet.  So play at the pool or the beach or the Tiki Bar and when you want quiet close your hurricane sliding glass doors to only the whisper of your excellent central air conditioning and lay down on your cool sheets and high end pillow top bed to flip through the channels or take a well-deserved siesta.  After a few days stay we booked for six months which is not easy with the holidays and were accommodated by Mike the Reservations Manager and George the Director of Operations who are always over the top making sure you have an excellent vacation.  The room rates of which we would have thought would be approaching the room rates at the Fontainebleau are excellent making Ocean Manor Resort the best value in South Florida.  We highly recommend Ocean Manor Resort!

Without a doubt a very disappointing stay.  The restaurants were very good and the common areas not bad but the room was deplorable. The closet had no hangers I had to go to Target and buy some, the safe door was hanging off the hinges and the bathroom was disgusting .Very poor quality towels, no wash cloths,no hand towels, and no bath mat. The vanity was broken and there was a metal stake sticking out of the wall in the shower.  I asked for a hair dryer 3 times and gave up.   I spoke to the manager before I left and wrote a letter to the owner when I returned home.  There has been no response from either the Manager or the Owner.
I saw the owner several times during my stay and he looked most
unconcerned about what is happening in his own property.
I believe the experts on Bar Rescue  and Hotel Impossible did their best to improve this man's property but he is clueless on following through.

I don't get why everyone is complaining about this hotel? I'm confused. We rented the Penthouse Suite and when we arrived we we're told we have been upgraded to a bigger Pent House (SCORE)!!! Wow, our Penthouse was amazing. The Master Bedroom was so pretty and the shower and the jacuzzi was beautiful! The beds we're so comfortable!

Our Penthouse had a full kitchen, with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, sink, ETC. The view from our Penthouse to the Ocean was so beautiful. So if you're looking for a place to relax Ocean Manor Resort Hotel is the place to be.

By far the WORST HOTEL I've ever had the misfortune to stay at. No accommodations whatsoever, even when you requested certain things ahead of time. The shower has NO pressure and turns hot/cold at frequent intervals no matter what temperature you've selected. The refrigerator is a great size! If only it actually make your items cold. There's exactly four outlets in the room and all of them are already used. The balconies could use a thorough washing out and my heart goes to the poor travelers in a room near the generators; I hope you didn't come here for the relaxing sound of the waves. The air conditioning has two options: Death Valley hot, and Antarctica cold. Room is definitely a large scale, very much appreciated. The view is spectacular; the ocean front charge is worth it. I don't know why they put the bed RIGHT where the sliding door is. The staff individually are all kind, especially the valet employees. The front desk doesn't bother to pick up room service calls so I'm not a fan of them at the moment. The pool is HUGE, plenty of room for kids and families to frolic.
In all honesty, the best thing about this hotel will be checking out and knowing I never have to come back.

Let's do a listed review for this hot mess of a roach motel...shall we?

Pros:
-It's on the beach
-The tiki bar downstairs is pretty fun.

Cons:
-There was a hole in the door to our room that was "fixed" by the staff stuffing toilet paper in it. (See photos)
-The balcony was shared with 2 other rooms and some creepy guy walked over to our window as my friend was changing.
-I stayed here as a part of a wedding party and the bride and groom's a/c in their room broke. They switched rooms only to have THAT a/c break too.
-A woman in our party was 9 months pregnant and her a/c in her room broke. The front desk offered her a small FAN.
-Paint was chipping in the guest rooms on the walls, doors and ceiling.
-The hallways smelled awful.
-Guests in other rooms were using a napkin dispenser and a stack of books to prop up windows. (See photos)
-Towels were skimpy! Yet they have the balls to sell them for $10 (See photo)
-The balcony furniture was broken and some of the chairs were NOT supposed to be used outdoors.
-Our TV stand was the fridge
-No closet doors
-RUDE front desk staff
-The front desk staff accused us of drinking from the "mini bar" when we didn't.
-You have to leave a $100 cash deposit on the room upon check in, then when you check out they send someone to "inspect" the room. HOW WOULD THEY KNOW IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG?? The room is already horrible!

Bottom line, AVOID THIS HOTEL! I have had better treatment and seen better rooms at Motel 6's. I know most people flock to this place because it's "cheap" and it's on the beach, however with all those hotel websites nowadays, you can book 3-4 star hotels for around the same price.

Don't be skeptical about this hotel, just DO NOT BOOK THIS  A TRUE HELLHOLE!!!! This is a dump. We changed rooms three times until we got to the room that we actually booked and paid for. The manager Mike, and his horrible staff are so completely incompetent I wonder who dresses them in the morning.  They put electric air fresheners in the hallway. Imagine, in an oceanfront resort...it stinks so bad.  The staff are so low class, they shampoo the hallway rugs starting at 8 AM . My sheets were dirty. We were 3 in the room, yet I couldn't get the staff to give us 3 bath towels to take showers with. One bed was so destroyed , my daughter sunk into the center. We were in an oceanfront newly renovated room. Can you imagine what the non-renovated rooms would be like? They aren't cheap, you can do better sleeping in a car.  Seriously, there are so many better places to stay . One star is too much for them . Even the pool is chinzy.  The bar is bad too. Imagine, In Florida, and they can't make a mohijto!!!!

This hotel gets 1 star because I am unable to give it 0 stars. The most disgusting rooms I have ever seen, from cockroaches to moldy smelly rooms. Sheets were 100 years old, door had to be slammed to even close. After 10 minutes in the room I left and hotel would NOT refund me regardless of how disgusting room was. The most unfriendly staff I have ever met. I will NEVER EVER EVER come back and I will take my time to tell the world how disgusting this place is. Heath dept would shut it down in a minute.

The only reason for one star is the staff was friendly for the most part.  Otherwise this is a zero star experience.  We recently stayed here for a work project.  Here is the rundown - mold in bathroom.  Wire clothes hanger holding up blinds in room.  Showers that didn't drain.  Noise.  Noise.  Noise.  Swipe locks that work half the time.  Dirty walls.  Dirty windows.  Hair in bathtub.

Hotel Impossible needs to do a follow-up visit.  They need some help.

ONe positive is the Tiki Bar behind the hotel.  Excellent food, huge portions, and the waiter we had both nights was great.

BED BUGS GALORE!!!!! This hotel is infested with them. King bed Ocean room~ no coffee maker in room. Room service would not bring a pot of coffee up. Only option was to go in the lobby and pay 3 bucks for one cup. NOTHING  is complimentary $15 a day resort fee for what? $8 a day to park!  Wifi is super slow! No fitness center and yucky pool!  Peeping tom hole in door. very creepy!! Also, if you like to sleep in later than 8am forget about it! They have loud drilling and construction workers starting at 8am. If you look up the bedbugregistry in a search engine you will see this hotel is listed!

Everyone we encountered here was friendly which made our visit enjoyable. Unfortunately, the hotel is very old and tired. Very.

We took advantage of a discount voucher for a poolside cabana rental. The cabana was very small but it had a shower and flat screen television. The room was so old and worn, however, that you didn't want to spend any time in it. Since the accordion doors didn't close all the way, we were told to block the entrance with our chairs when we went to use the pool.

The attendant gave us four towels which were obviously guest towels that were left unclaimed. None of them matched and one had a cheesy Florida tourist scene. The pool area was spacious and the pool chairs were plentiful and not in terrible shape. Lots of tree bark floating in the pool - otherwise it was large and pleasant.

Lunch was included and our server was great - he made our day. The dining areas was under a large tiki hut with worn upscale picnic tables and two large televisions. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it.

Valet parking was required and also a deposit for the towels. The great staff was terrific but they weren't enough to compensate for the bad quality of the hotel. There are just too many other really nice places in South Florida.

Walking to the room, the whole place is a bit odd. It's obvious the hotel is undergoing renovations. Once I got to my room (which had been renovated), it was a nice room and the doors to the balcony were wonderful to have open. The tiki bar restaurant was ok though I don't think I would eat there again.

WOW!!! So many good memories of this weekend. Valet parked the car & the doorman helped me get our stuff to the room. Checked in fast & made it to Friday Happy Hour at the Tiki Bar & our boys swam in the pool. We live only a few miles from Ocean Manor but 2-3 times a year we stay here & keep coming back. This time we invited friends to join us to celabrate my wife's Birthday. It was the best decision we made. Thxs to Frank & Michael, the managers, everything worked out perfect & we have memories that will last a life time. The room & view was awesome. The food was delicious & the drinks were flowing. The vibe was fun, safe & easy. When the stars came out, we all took a walk on the beach for a champagne toast. Before I knew it i was back up having a delicious breakfast & Starbucks coffee poolside & repeating it all over again but this time with a pool side cabana. I can go on & on. No complains at all here. I have been coming here for the last 10 years & they keep making improvements & renovations. Good Job guys your doing a great job & looks like your having fun doing it... See you soon. .. Thxs... ~ Rock On ! ! !

My recent stay at Ocean Manor in Fort Lauderdale Beach was amazing! The ocean front water views from my hotel room were spectacular and I love that the rooms are newly renovated and gorgeous. This hotel is literally right on the water- a few steps past their Tiki bar is the sand and ocean water! The food at their Tiki Bar and at their sushi restaurant (Tokyo Blue) is so delicious and I found myself not even having to leave the hotel at all since everything I need was right there at the hotel! I will definitely be staying at Ocean Manor again! It is the best kept secret jewel of Fort Lauderdale!

I am currently a guest staying in this place until saturday. We purchased the stay through groupon which wasn't far off from their normal rates on their website for the room we have. First we called weeks in advance to let them know it would be our first time here and it was out anniversary can we please just get a room with an ocean view. We were told we can only get a partial view no problem. A couple of days in advance we called to ask for hypo allergenic sheets they said they don't have any, asked if my room has a coffee maker, my room does not have one, yet it has a microwave and a fridge ?? The shuttle that was supposed to pick us up never showed at the airport..
The place itself is beautiful,  lobby is gorgeous. On Monday morning and this morning we have been woken up by drilling between 8-9am. So today my wife calls down to complain and the guy who answers at the front desk implies that we since we purchased through groupon we are like 3rd rate customers???? They can't wait until the afternoon to do this! Who wants to be woken up this early on vacation! The staff for the hotel is so so...Bamboo Tiki bar has great staff and food...If we weren't stuck paying because we bought through groupon we would have left....we will not be coming back.

Stayed there for the weekend.  What a great location.  One of the only hotels that is actually on the beach......not across the street.  Two great bar/restaurants to choose from.  The tiki bar that is on the beach was very relaxing during the day and had a great crowd at night.  Good mix of locals and fellow tourists.  Great rates and friendly staff.  Room was newly remodeled and I must say it was over the top for such a great price.  Very reasonable.  I hope the prices stay so friendly as i will definitely be back.

This review is for the valet parking only because I did not stay - just went to the restaurant. THAT SAID THE VALET PARKING SITUATION THERE IS THE WORST, MOST DOSORGANIZED, UNDERSTAFFED JOKE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! My car wound up being blocked in by a car who's keys they could not find. The attendants all work in slow motion. The woman who runs the valet is the most rude and infuriating person EVER. My friends got home while I was still waiting for my car!!!!!

I got the groupon for a cabana rental. 72 bucks for an all day cabana including $50 for the bar tab. The cabana was a total hole. It wasn't even in the sun it was like this random attachment to the side of the building. The TV (not like I was going to use it) was non operational there were random wires just kinda sticking everywhere. It was a total waste. If I didn't get the $50 bar tab with my groupon I would have probably freaked out. Never the less- I will never go again. Total waste of money and time. Plus the staff is unfriendly and the owner basically accosted us because we brought a cooler. BTW not a very welcoming gesture. Complete idiot

I want to give this hotel a 1.5 because of the absolutely gorgeous floor to ceiling view of the sea (see pic)!! My love chose to stay here & since he never reads reviews.....Here's the list of what has happened in just the 7hrs that we have been here.
1. No soap in room. Called front desk at 2:09pm.
2. Also realized there's NO TOWELS in room. Call front desk again. Still also haven't received towels 2:50pm.
3. Towels (ALONE) arrive. I ask for soap confused housekeeper says he will return with it right away 3:20pm.
4. 5:04 friggin pm. My irritated self & I go to the front desk.
5. Front desk apologizes says she will send someone to the room right away. I say the polite version of "HELL NO" I will wait here for them to bring it. It takes a while so she decides to leave the front desk & goes to get them.
6.15min later of waiting at the front desk I find out that the house keeper brought it to the room!! WTF!!

UPDATE: Ocean Manor had my first review removed, and cited it was because of "employment issues." Let me be clear: I have never been (nor would I ever be) employed at Ocean Manor. Be careful what you read, because obviously the worst of the worst has been filtered through and removed!

Original Posting (amended to remove any wording that may be related to confusions about "employment issues"):
One star, because zero stars isn't an option. Never again will I stay with these people! After hosting a major event for local/South Florida service industry professionals here, AS A PAYING CUSTOMER, I encountered one situation after another of failure by management & employees! To start off with, the manager of the Tiki Bar stole prize fund money for a contest that was held; a prize fund that was provided by sponsors of this event and had nothing to do with Ocean Manor other than the contest being on-property. Then when confronted after it was proven it was him, he made one excuse after another for why he needed the money (ice for booths, etc.) Again, not an Ocean Manor event here, other than us using the venue and them making money off of the people we brought in. The vendors are angry, as are the event organizers. An old man in a yellow shirt who "doesn't work at Tokyo Blue, just for the hotel" caused trouble for the women in the audience at an event at Tokyo Blue (a restaurant in the hotel, which the bartender was just okay but the GM was awesome and accommodating) by PUSHING THEIR LOWER BACKS and screaming at them to "get the f*ck off the bar" and telling them "it will fall and cut your legs off and I will laugh about it." I should mention one of these particular women was ME. This was the first time he had spoken to me & started off the dialogue THAT disrespectful. I was not drunk. In fact, I had just paid over $100 for a meal for myself and my sister, and was sitting down to watch the show that was going on. A bartender told us that "his liquor is not agreeing with him tonight." Heed my warning: NEVER host your event here! Even if they offer it for free! There are so many other nice hotels in Fort Lauderdale at the same price point with a much more courteous staff. The valet was rude; after taking a couple (check it - TWO) minutes to unload my car, he told me I needed to move it (no one waiting to also valet) and park it myself. And pay anyways. I asked the man behind the front desk upon arrival if there was any bell carts for me to use, he laughed and told me "good luck finding one." The room also left much to be desired - water damage, broken mirrors, dirty comforters, lacking towels, broken and ripped furniture, an AC that is literally blowing water of out it, & a random vent cover to conceal a hole in the wall, as my companion pointed out. My original review was deleted, thus all the pictures of this, but I can assure you, it was gross. For the price, and all that was promised & not delivered, I was seriously disappointed. Our event will never be back to this location.

So I spent my birthday weekend at the Ocean Manor Resort and believe me the entire weekend was magical. The room was ocean front with  beautiful tile floor. The service (valet, front desk, room service) was outstanding. They also have a spa in the hotel so I was able to get a massage and my nails done before My birthday dinner that I threw at Tokyo Blue (might have noticed is my favorite restaurant) which is also located inside the hotel.  I topped my Sunday off watching football down at the famous Tiki Bar. my weekend was unbelievable very relaxing and barely left the resort.

Were happy to have found Ocean Manor, and it's great Owner and Staff. Hat's off to both Frank the owner who is always around and Mike the Marketing Director for helping us with our reservations  at a time when every hotel is overbooked due to the Christmas Holidays and winter breaks. Our suite, and views are amazing. The staff  is very accommodating. In fact, one of the waiters even brought us Gumbo, he had made himself, to the room. What a a nice gesture! They also have a fantastic Tiki bar 3 steps from the sand. One of the only Tiki's remaining on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. The quality of the  food at the Tiki bar is very well done, not the usual bar food.
This is not the Ritz in SoBe, it's a great place to come and enjoy all South Florida has to offer without having to pay and arm and a leg for it! I'd recommend this spot to anyone, also great for kids!

Ocean manor is a different place from a year and half ago the owner got new investors and has remodeled 80% of the room. Make sure you get a signature room and here is some food for thought this is condo hotel so you might get a room that is not in the program. The rooms that are not in the program do not go by Ocean Manor guidelines so just ask questions so you have a great experience like me and so many of my friends have had here.

Now let me start off by saying this... If you are looking for a five star classy hotel this may not be the spot for you. If you're looking for affordable, decently clean right on the beach hotel this could be a good fit for you.

I booked this hotel for a bachelorette party and could not be more pleased with the experience. I booked us (2) Two bedroom suites and after meeting the owner he upgraded one of our rooms to the penthouse suite.  The penthouse was a little outdated but perfect for a group of girls looking to just have a good time in the sun and at bars.  The two bedroom suite was renovated and had a modern look. I preferred the two bedroom suite, but still over the moon about the owner hooking us up.

The tiki bar was a good hangout for during the day and had a good menu selection. Tokyo Blue had great food and once again they were more than accommodating to a large 16 person bacehlorette party.

The valet service was prompt and friendly as was the shuttle service they had to take us around to different bars, and to and from the airport. The pricing was affordable as well.

The pool was clean with enough lounging chairs and the beach was clean as well.  It was about a half a mile walk down the beach to Fort Lauderdale-By-The-Sea which is an area with a little shops and restaurants so the location was good.  Also right next to the hotel was a spot to rent jet-skis and paddle boards.

The weekend we spent there the whole staff was friendly at all times and very welcoming. They really did help us out with any thing we needed. Even the last day, because we all had late flights,  they allowed us to stay in one room until 5 where we were able to keep our luggage and some where able to lounge around that were still feeling rough from the night before.

Thank you Ocean Manor for your great hospitality. The bride had a great time as did all the girls!

One of the best party hotels in South Florida. Nice pool and convenient ocean access. The Tikki Bar is always rockin and I head there for socializing even when I am not a hotel guest. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi works well. Cajun Mahi fingers were excellent!

This past weekend I stayed at the Ocean Manor and can I say we had an amazing time! We arrived at 10am and check in was at 11am so they asked us to wait which is understandable. So we make our way to the lobby and the manager walked over and told us he switched our room and could get us in before we even sat down! We got to our room with an ocean view and felt like we were in heaven! My wife and I made our way down to the pool when we discovered the tiki bar, and began our mini vacation with piña coladas. Overall great place to say on the beach. The staff is very friendly and attentive especially our favorite waiter Kevin that waited on us Saturday and Sunday. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to friends!

The only reason I'm giving this hotel two stars is because of the second, remodeled hotel room that had a beautiful ocean view.

When we booked our reservation, we were told that we could choose between a king bed or two queen beds.  Our fault for not calling to specify at the time of the booking as all of the king rooms were already taken by the time we checked in.  One of the receptionists had absolutely no idea what she was doing and seemed to cause more trouble for her poor colleague.

We were in Room 315, right across the hall from the elevator.  I walked in and almost walked right back out of the hotel to find another place to say.  It was that bad. The plaster was falling off the ceiling in the hall way with large chunks of plaster missing, the furniture looked as though it was randomly chosen and crammed in the room, the beds were no larger than doubles and were definitely not queens, you could hear every person walk by in the hall, the toilet had a manual rod flusher like you would find in a gas station and the mattresses were awful, to where you could feel all of the springs.

When we left the hotel for dinner, we stopped by the front desk to ask about the possibility of upgrading the room.  She told us for $15, she could upgrade us the following night to a ocean view king room.

The next day, at about 4pm we stopped downstairs to finalize the details of switching our room.  The new receptionist told us there must have been a mistake because upgrades are $25.  When we specifically told her we had spoken to someone the day before, she was kind enough to drop the price to $20.

The downside is that it took about an hour, in 15 minute chunks of checking back in with the front desk for our room to be ready.  ...but it was worth the wait!

IF you do decide to stay here, MAKE SURE you get a remodeled room!  We stayed in room 228 overlooking the ocean and it was beautiful.  The view was wonderful, and the room was huge, complete with a large, incredibly comfortable king bed.

We stayed at the hotel over Martin Luther King Jr Day weekend and were looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing.  Bright and early on Sunday morning at 9am, the housekeeping staff was busy vacuuming the halls. Really? At 9am on a Sunday morning?

As for the other amenities, they were okay.  The service at the tiki bar was awful, no beach towels were available when we went down in the morning and hotel guests are charged $5 to use the beach chairs just outside the hotel.  Due to the beach front location, a number of non-hotel guests wanted to use the chairs but felt like hotel guests should have been able to use for free.

Most likely we won't ever be staying here again but glad that at least we had one enjoyable night in a remodeled, ocean view king room.  If you're not out too late partying the night before, be sure to set your alarm and watch the sun rise from your bed. :)

I have to say, I was worried about booking this place before I read the reviews. I was expecting a nightmare. We rented the condo from an individual owner, so bypassed the staff completely at the hotel. The owner was fabulous, about meeting us, even after our flight was delayed. We paid him the balance of our rental, and we were good to go for the rest the week. What you need to know:

Pros: The location is directly on the beach, most of Fort Lauderdale is across the street. It is very close to find a grocery store, Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, CVS, and anything else you might need. You don't really need a car. Next, there is a pool on the property, if you feel like you don't want to use the ocean. There is a tiki bar where you can get food and drinks during the day, and a nightclub to dance your butt off at night. Overall, it is priced right, for what you get. That leads me to the cons.
cons: The building itself is very tired, despite the upgrades to the lobby. The front Beach area is only about 50 feet wide, and if you want to use beach chair or you have to pay extra for it. You must bring towels from your room, and there generally aren't enough for both showers in the room, and also The beach. The nightclub that I mentioned before, is awful unless you were attending. The music blares throughout the entire condo complex, we were on the third floor and had to listen to loud blaring music well into the night.  This is not great, if you were trying to get kids to bed. If you bring a car, you must park in valet, even though their parking lot is barely full. This is an extra eight dollars per day. I was very disappointed that he pool and even the beach in front loses the sub early. I guess during this time of year, and with the tall buildings. That is hard to get around, but good to know for your planning. Lastly, Wi-Fi is free, but due to the cement walls, it is very hard to get a signal in your room unless you're on the balcony.

Would I stay here again? Depends. It sure beats paying for a five-star hotel, I guess you get what you pay for. If you're used to a dingy looking place, which most of Florida does look like. Then you should be fine. If you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room, you will also be just fine. Overall it's a nice place, but don't expect it to be over-the-top.
