This is one of those times that I wish I could give negative stars to properly express myself.  Here's the deal...

We were on a cruise which started and ended in Ft Lauderdale.  The flight home to Boston was $500 more to leave the day the cruise returned.  Yes, $500 (thanks major airline!)...so we had to find some place to stay the night (and save $500) in the area.  Based on a recommendation from my aunt (I should have know better, she's err frugal) we set up a reservation at this joint.  I KNOW we shouldn't have expected much...and we didn't but damn even then we were let down.

On the plus side: they picked us up at Port Everglades and took us to the airport the next morning.

That's where the pluses end and the minuses begin.
So, we get to this place (which is in a run down neighborhood) and they give us a key to the room...which is not clean.  By that I mean pubes/shit (yes, SHIT) on the toilet.  Also, bed linens were all wonky on the bed.  Not a good sign.  We spent about 15 minutes in here until discovering the aforementioned fecal matter.  Then we decided it was time for another room.  The key to room number two did not work...so back to the office we went.  Instead of giving us a working key for room number two they gave us a key for another room.  This one with a clean(er) bathroom and bed linens that were more-or-less where they were supposed to be.  So we "settled in" here and went to sit poolside for a while.  That part wasn't too bad, though the water itself was ice cold so there was no swimming to be done.  Still, there was sun to be had and that's ok by me.

Luckily they had a restaurant in the building otherwise we would probably have starved due to the fact that this place is in the middle of industrial nowhere.  Plus, it's wicked scurry 'round there so we would not be walking anywhere.  The food was unremarkable at best and everything was fried.  I really just remember beer to drown out recent memories of feces encrusted toilet seats :'(

Back to the room.  Cut to me seeing...is that a?...OMG a ROACH!!  Oh noes we're actually staying in a roach motel.  Sweet Jebus take me now.  Yes, I turn in to a big ol' girl when it comes to the creepy crawlies and there was one right there ...shudder... and that about sums up our 12 hour stay here.  We only had to make it until 5AM to get to the airport and in the end we might have been more comfortable on the floor at the airport.  Their roaches are probably jet-setting world travelers and therefore classy and well rounded.  Unfortunately the same can not be said for the tenants of the Red Roof in Ft Lauderdale.

    Dried Blood in the bathtub
    Cigarette burns on blankets
Seriously unwashed limp gray linens (eeeeewwwww!)
Cigarette ashes on wall next to bed where cigarettes put out
    Smoky non-smoking room
Hole punched in base of wall
Busy Amtrak line next to room
Sundry pubic hairs at various locations

Oh, forgot to mention worst of all: TV remote was broken

Scary place to stay. Health Department should be contacted.

The lobby is beautiul...and that's where it ends. The corridors for the rooms begin to feel like a scene in THE SHINING. Any refurbished room has a new bed, but everything else appears old. Our toilet didn't work, and we had no hot water, as well as the rest of the building. The kicker, though, was that they sold out of my reservjed room and stuck me in a smaller room. If I hadn't complained, I would have paid the same! Then, the staff was as rude as I have ever seen...and that was before I dealt with them for my issues. I thought one was going to tick off a cop (there for some odd reason with a guest) so much he was going to arrest her because she was so belligerent. I can handle lots of things, but this place was as bad as I have ever experienced.

Talk about the wrong side of the tracks.Staff was nice but that's pretty much it. Being woken up constatently by train horn blowing  is not relaxing. Room smelled funky.I am going to change travel agents for sending me here.

Strong pee smell in hallways, carpet bulging, damp, and moldy. Door covered in some unknown red liquid that looked like pop. The only pro is that it was for one night only.

This place was a hot mess.  I stayed in room 102 from Jan 19th - 22nd and the bathroom was filthy.  The bath tub and floor in the bathroom didn't appear to have been cleaned in years based on the build up of dirt and grime.  It was so bad that I wore shower shoes in the shower.  The ceiling in the bathroom had three holes in it that looked like they were caused by leaking water from above due to the mold around the holes.  Long stringy hair was all over the floor.  Seriously Red Roof Inn, what cleaning staff would leave this kind of mess for guests in their hotel?  This place is run down and in need of a major renovation.  Not to be overlooked is the noise from the train track right next to the hotel.  I should have done my homework before booking a reservation at this place.

It was so disgusting. I usually stay at La quinta, but I had to stay there due to no more rooms available. I will admit I have a little bit of OCD. But this crap was uncalled for their was trash under the bed when i got there. Not to mention stains on the walls. YUCK YUCK! But the front desk attenedant was AWESOME! I forgot her name. Caucasian women with dreds.

This place is disgusting.  It is 3:00 am there are people walking around the halls talking at full volume. Cock roaches on the walls never again. It's like a drugged out zombie fest. I stay in red roofs all over the country this one is horrific. .....

After reading past reviews compared to my experiences I am glad I didn't check yelp before I stayed here. I was actually surprised with this hotel. First of all I stayed here for the price. For two nights I only paid a little over $160. If you are expecting luxury for that price you will be upset. This hotel was the cheapest I could find. You won't be that close to the beach, but since. I wasn't going for the beach I was ok with that.

The hotel is kinda off the beaten path. Yes it is basically on train tracks. However, the trains didn't disturb us. We selected a superior king room. It came with a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, blow dryer, and coffee maker. We were able to check in right at one. Our room was clean and everything was in working order. All the employees were super nice.

My only complaints would be the pool area and some of the people who were hanging out in the lobby. The pool area was in need of a good cleaning. The furniture was black and dirty. When we were checking in there was a lady preaching to us about Jesus. She appeared to be living in the hotel. I am not sure why she was allowed to do this. I would stay here again.

I give this place one star because the lady at the front desk is nice other then that.  It's nasty. smells horrible. Cockroach infested and the house keepers don't knock before coming in I've had to deadbolt my Door because of them. Not a great place.   Also the ac units leaked a large amount of water into my room. This has happen twice in to different rooms on two different floors.

This hotel has been renovated and it's under new management. All of the rooms are completely new and the person at the front desk was telling me that it is soon to be a Best Western.

    Great little place to stay
Not with the Red Roof family anymore
New everything from tv's with 70 channels to new beds carpet and new tubs.  Great friendly staff and the place is as nice as any holiday or Hampton without the sky high price.  Best bang for the hotel bunk in the Lauderdale area, if you don't have to be on the beach.  And great nearby restaurants

    WOW
