My wife and I stayed here after our cruise because we had an additional day before we had to fly home. I have stayed at Renaissance hotels in the past and have been very impressed. Not this time. When we arrived, they didn't have rooms available, and said we could not check in early, but they did store our bags for us. The lady at the front desk was rude, and asked for a credit card for incidentals to "pre-register" us. It seemed strange to give a card number when we weren't actually checking in and getting room keys, but I did it. We left for the day and went down to Key West. When we returned, there was a different front desk lady, this one nicer, who asked for credit card info. I told her we had provided that during "pre-registration" earlier. She had no idea what "pre-registration" was. I was irritated wondering what happened to my credit card number. We told the lady at check in that we have bags being held and to please have them sent up to the room. We went up to the room and were not impressed with it. There was a pill on the ground in the bathroom that housekeeping had missed, along with a printed out flight itinerary of the room's prior occupant. Now we knew the name of the person who stayed in the room before us, and perhaps some of the medication he was on. Basically, the room had not been cleaned, and the date on the itinerary was from a day prior...so in my mind, this room had been like this for 2 days, and when we checked in we were told nothing was available. This room was...although it wasn't cleaned. The faucet in the bathroom was loose, and would move like it wasn't tightened down under the countertop. We waited close to 45 minutes for our bags to arrive, and this was after 11PM, NO ONE else was arriving at the hotel at this time. We were waiting on them so that we could shower, change and go to bed. When the bags did finally arrive, a padfolio of mine that was in the luggage was missing. That took an additional call downstairs, and they brought it up 10 minutes later. We were not impressed with this hotel. When you stay at a Renaissance, you expect nice rooms, nice service, etc. We won't stay at this hotel again.

I was able to get a room here on marriott.com for a reasonable $89/night. So my thought was that the hotel may not be that spectacular. I was impressed overall with the ambiance. The room also had a jetted tub.

The breakfast buffet was average. However, the omelet cooked to order was excellent.

The staff was extremely pleasant. They offered information on local hang outs and cheap transportation ($2 round trip) to the beach if we didn't want to deal with parking. Business center had working pc's and printer to print boarding passes.

Decent rooms.

Decent restaurant.

Decent facilities.

Decent pool.

Decent poolside service.

Good club room grub.

Excellent access to bright, warm beaches.

Excellent access to excellent Cuban (food).

A wondrous thing for us boring, pale, pastey, people from three thousand miles away.

It is a very nice hotel but a little over priced. I can see it is all about the area, but they need to have their customers in mind. The early breakfast service took forever and was slow. The food was not tasty at all. Parking is a crime.

Rooms were nicely decorated, modern, clean, and a good size.

Very helpful and friendly staff - we were actually able to check in at 10:30am, rather than just drop off our bags.

The pool looked nice, but it was a little chilly in mid-January to go for a swim.  Still, a nice spot to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Location is excellent.  It's a super-short ride to Port Everglades Cruise Terminal, an easy walk to grocery stores and restaurants, and a slightly longish but not unpleasant walk to the beach.

Got a great rate via Priceline.

We got a great deal on this four-star hotel off priceline.  I was very impressed with the place, and would especially recommend it to anyone accessing the busy cruise ports nearby.

The hotel is very modern and swanky, with lots of blue and black accented with yellow.  The hotel was recently renovated, and the rooms come with flat screen tvs and fashionable chaise lounges. The staff is very welcoming, and offer complementary cookies in the evenings as well as a computer to print out boarding passes.

The hotel is located near the convention center and within walking distance (about .25 mile) from the cruise docks.  We walked the short distance from our cruise ship, to other guests' surprise. I believe this is the closest hotel to the cruise port.

The pool is shielded from the busy roads by shrubbery, which makes it feel somewhat tranquil. They have tons of poolside furniture, including romantic clamshell cabanas. We hung out at the pool most of the afternoon, playing cards and dipping in the hot tub.

There is a bar and restaurant on the premises, as well as a variety of restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

My few complaints include a lack of coffee in the lobby, and an outdated hotel info book that incorrectly states free appetizers are available at the bar during happy hour. Overall, I would visit here again if in the area on business or before or after a cruise.

I liked this place. The staff is awesome and will work with you to make you happy. Nothing real negative to say about it. Great tv's in the rooms. the AC worked well (Important in Flordia)  I was going to give this a 4 rating until I started writing the review but felt guilty so I went the whole 9 yards and gave it a 5.

I even became a member.

Almost 4 stars but they charge $20 for parking. They hotel is in a great location for business. Lots of restaurants on the street.  I found this on Priceline for a great price. The rooms are all updated and the beds are very comforatable. If you are a Marriott member they have a concierge level as well.  The fitness area is kind of small but the pool is very nice.

They also have a great lounge bar connected to the lobby.

Our stay here was nice enough.  The bed was good.  The hotel seemed a bit tired in places, but overall it was alright.

Check-in was easy.  The staff was very nice and accommodating.  The bar and restaurant are a nightmare though.  Avoid these two places if at all possible.  Impossible to get waited on.  We gave up at both locations - eventually just walking out because we couldn't get service.

We walked over to the restaurant next door called Bimini's.  Great food.  Wonderful service.

The hotel is located near a Ross, so if you forget something for your trip, that's convenient.  The Walgreens and Starbucks are across the street which was fantastic.

Other than that, the hotel is just okay.  Nice enough, but I think for what we spent, we'll pick another hotel on our next trip.

I had to buy earplugs because I can hear everyone's conversation in the hall way and my neighbors. I think the walls were built too thin.
The cleaning lady disregarded my "privacy please" sign on my doorknob and was yelling and pounding on the door while I was trying to rest for a swimming competition I had later that day.
The free internet access is terribly slow and the breakfast is pricy and not worth the money. Luckily there is a Starbucks and a Bagel Bros. A block away from the hotel.  Parking overnight at the hotel garage is pricy but that's what you should expect when you go to the beach.
Besides all these negative criticisms it's a decent hotel. It's clean, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms have a plasma TV.

Great location for a cruise - you can't walk to your ship because of the size of the port - I'm glad they told me that.  We could have walked to OUR ship but others were pretty far.  The room was comfortable and standard, the pool was nice but sortof on the street.  The location was a little to far from the Ft Lauderdale beaches vs other options like the Hyatt, which is not too much farther from the cruise port.  Props for the front desk.  Pet peeve on no free airport shuttle.  Props for front desk service and club level though!

we stayed there before we went on a cruise. the front desk could improve on their customer service skills.  we had booked a room with 2 beds . when we checked in we were told  they did not have this room available to us and they hardly tried to make any efforts to accommodate us. they suggested that we go to a different hotel. hardly working to get our business or to please us.  after twisting their arm, they offered a roll-away bed and a bigger room.  i would not choose this hotel next time, and it was not cheap!

I heard that they had renovated, but our room was completely run down. Paint was peeling, our bathroom had dirty obvious grout in the corners and the entry door to our room was in bad shape.  I had a room discount which still put our room at almost $100 a night.  I cannot even imagine paying full price for such a room.  Had I known the condition of the room was going to be so bad, I would have paid that kind of money elsewhere.  $100 is way too much for a dirty rundown room.  The service at the FD at check-in was pleasant.  At check-out, it was as if we were invisible.  We went during Memorial Day weekend, but every guest should be treated with respect no matter how busy or slow it is.  There is a parking structure next to the hotel though you must pay for parking.

Good points:  They are conveniently located to shops such as Walgreen and banks such as Bank of America.  It is also very close to freeway access.

I really liked the contemporary decor in this hotel.  The staff was pretty accommodating and I enjoyed my stay there.  This place was great for anyone getting off of a cruise who wants somewhere nice to crash at, as the cruise ports (Port Everglades) are just minutes away.

Valet parking is worth the extra $5/night don't self park you'll walk away your time here. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Staff was courteous and Marriott Rewards members get a great price. Chat it up with the desk clerk and you may get free parking which is $25/night BTW.

This is a very nice hotel . The lobby area is beautiful. They have a little shop where you can buy small food items,& some fresh orange water by the elevator.  There is a business center and workout room and a beautiful pool outside. The rooms are very clean with two big beds that are nice, nice, nice!  There is quite a bit going on in the area . Beauty, restaurants, shops, and even a Winn Dixe.  Free van shuttle service to the airport as well. What more could you ask for.

On a business trip to Ft. Lauderdale, my boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Renaissance Hotel. When we arrived, I found my way to the parking garage, parked and made my way downstairs to the lobby - here's a great tip: there are elevators, as well as stairs, that can take you down (so don't forget to look for the elevators!)
When you are a guest at the hotel, you can enter and leave the parking garage "free of charge" with your room key. That made me very happy.

We entered the hotel and it was gorgeous! The lobby was spacious, the staff was friendly and full of smiles and the interior decor was nice. During regular hours, they keep fresh, chilled lemon/orange water near the elevators (and it's free, try it!)

We entered the room and both said, "Wow."
The bed was HUGE, the TV was a large flat-screen that swiveled and had a plethora of TV channels (if you're a sports fan, they offer at least 12 different channels to make you happy) including HBO, kids TV and regular programming.

The bathroom was nice; needed a bit more space for two people to roam around in, but the tub/shower was VERY large indeed.

The bedroom also had a large desk that offered TV inputs (in case you wanted to hook up a video game system, DVD system, laptop, etc.) and included a cute tea/coffee organizer box with nice choices for the AM.
I also get cold very easily and the A/C system was on the wall and digital; all I had to do was poke a button and the room was settled at a nice temp. by the time I returned from dinner.

Overall, my experience was fantastic and I would recommend the Renaissance Hotel in Fort Lauderdale to anyone traveling to the area.

I was here for a conference for a couple of days and it was a pleasant stay.

Although it is not near some of the the hot spots of Ft Lauderdale, there's plenty of decent eating places within easy walking distance - just check the Yelp app on your phone.

The lunches at the conference were good, inducing food comas for the afternoon sessions.

Everyone on the staff I encountered was pleasant and I have no complaints.

My husband and I had the most incredibly beautiful wedding at the Renaissance Cruise Port Hotel!!!!  The food was delicious, all of our guests really enjoyed the appetizers and entrees and there was so much food to eat!!! Our guests rooms and our honeymoon suite were clean and comfortable, and the service was absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!! We did not have to worry about a thing.  The hotel staff was very accommodating to our needs and our guests needs, it couldn't have been a smoother or more enjoyable weekend.  The Director of Catering was very helpful in helping us to execute our vision for our dream wedding.  We wish we could do it all over again : ) Thank you to the staff of the Renaissance Cruise Port Hotel on 17th St for making us feel like rockstars on our wedding day!!!!!!!!

Sad to say that my recent stay at the Renaissance was just okay.

I have stayed at this Renaissance in the past, it's been a few years, but I had fond memories of it.  I love the location which is very close to the water, the pool is very well kept and relaxing, they have good bath products, and the rooms are well maintained.

My disappointment on this trip was in three items that make a huge impact on how happy I am with my stay; number one the mattress, number two the fitness center, and number three the bar.

*The mattress was possibly the most awful piece of cement that I have ever tried to sleep on.  I tossed and turned all night, didn't sleep at all, and was in general miserable the next day because I was so sleepy.

*The fitness center has a good number of machines and they all seemed to work, but none of the treadmills TV systems worked.  I could view TV but wasn't able to listen to it on two of the treadmills and the third TV didn't even turn on.  I am sure I'm being picky, but it's frustrating when you are trying to multi-task on the road and can't watch the news and work-out simultaneously.

*I came back to the hotel before 10pm and went to the bar to have a night cap.  I sat down and waited for 5min. and I never saw a single person working at the bar.  There were patrons sitting there, but no staff.  I left without my drink and a bit salty about the lack of service.

All of the other accommodations were nice, but I was so tired and cranky after my stay.  $139/night is a very affordable rates so that was nice.

only stayed here for 2 nights. it was a mediocre experience. the lobby is more up to date than the rooms. and when the a/c wasn't on... there was an odd mold-like smell in the air. yuck.

they have decent tv channels, hgtv, food network, hbo, etc... but it took forever to change the channel...it's like being on dial up.

the beds were ok. the pillows were small, thin, and too soft for me. i needed 3 just to make "one".

i can't really complain tho since our stay was comped... although, i don't think i'd pay more than $100 /nt here. if its under $100... way under... then i'd consider since it's so close to port everglades and they offer shuttle service for $6 /person.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try. I was a little upset the women who made our reservation did not inform me about the $25 parking fee. So... moving on the room was ok. Nice HD tv with a good line up of channels. Bathrooms and everything seemed to be clean. The only real complaint I have it everything looked wonderful, bed etc. as soon as we laid down we were upset since the mattress was very stiff.

The price was right.

Ps. Get some better mattresses in your rooms.

I liked this place. The rooms were clean, the concierge was friendly, and it was close to Las Olas and other night time stuff.

I didnt get into the pool much but the temperature of the water was perfect day and night, they must have it regulated at a certain temperature.

I also went into the jacuzzi, its really warm but I thought that the jets were not as strong as I would have liked them to be.

The cleaning ladies were nice and if you needed anything extra while they were doing their rounds they are more than happy to help you out.

We needed a late check-out and there was no problem whatsoever.

Parking is a little expensive. Wifi is not free.

All in all, had a great time here.

Booked a 3 night stay here for my mom and sister who were visiting through Xmas and New Years The previous hotel(Marco Polo in Suny Isle was a complete dump and this was the only available place unfortunately)

The rooms are clean, service is ok, but unfortunately, one of the maids stole my mom's iphone and her wallet.
My mom had left to go get ice in the morning and when she came back, a maid was in the room with the door locked and bolted. When the maid finally let my mom in, the maid(who didnt speak a lick of English) quickly left the room. It wasnt until shortly after my mom realized her wallet(with $600 cash and all her credit cards) and iphone were gone.
My mom immediately called the manager and the police but they said there was nothing that could be done. The manager defended the maid saying she had been working there for 12 years and they never had an issue with her. BULLSHIT! The maid had just never been caught.
Anyway, the manager gave them 1 night free off their bill for their trouble.

Also, my mom had wanted to take a taxi back to Hollywood to pick up some luggage that was left at the other hotel they had been staying at before coming here. Well, the front desk told her to take the shuttle service they offer and she did which unknowing to her was $150 after they returned. Lots of scams going on here so be aware. I feel sorry for other seniors or out of towners staying here that have probably been screwed as well.

Its very disappointing after I read such positive reviews of this place.

SO... if you stay here, be aware of thieves who are working here as maids and the scam artists who drive the shuttles.

First the goods: Friendly staff, pool ok, nice sunset view, location. Now the not so good: the rooms small, small windows, expensive for nothing special, locked fridge, $12.95/day for internet, poor food/drink, horrible pillows, very loud ice maker, and general noise in the corridors and the floor. Also, there is HD TV in the room, but all the channels are low resolution make that extra low resolution. Did I mention for over $300/night room they want $12.95/day for the internet? I'm guessing they are going to charge a toll on the elevators next.

I'm only writing this review from the perspective of utilizing their conference rooms. Air & room temperature was great, restrooms pristine, and it's in a great location with pretty good dining options within walking distance.

But the seats were HORRIBLE. Everyone complained. Very hard to sit in all day.

Other than that this is a nice hotel.

I was disappointed upon check in to find that I'd not been upgraded when the rest of my colleagues had been - we'd even paid for it rather than depend on our Marriott Rewards balance. I was even more surprised when the front desk argued that it was impossible that we could have paid to upgrade as they didn't offer that option. When our group organiser called them I was then offered access to the club lounge on the 12th floor but I'd have to make do with a room on a much lower floor. Total customer service fail.

I'll make this short. My room was somewhat dated and in need of a little refurbishment. Some damp patches linger around the windows with an element of mildew. The bathroom was small and the toilet is positioned almost right next to the shower/tub.

The Wifi is expensive and really doesn't work well at all, all the hotel guests complained of the same problem.

I asked for a late checkout on my departure but was met with a wall of "there are no late checkouts available" despite the fact that my colleague managed to secure one 30 minutes after I asked.

The next time I am in Ft. Lauderdale I'm going to give this venue a miss. It's a pity as the Renaissance in Phoenix I stayed at last year was quite good.

Poor experience, avoid.

Okay, here'e the thing. This really should be a 4-star review, however the rude woman at the desk when we checked in is the only reason this review is losing a star.

I called ahead days before to get early check-in because my flight was landing early. I also called to confirm when my flight arrived at 12 that our room was ready and that we could check in now. The woman on the phone said yes and that everything was ready. So imagine my surprise when I get to the hotel half an hour later and the woman at the desk  says there is no way I can check in before 3. I politely tell her that I called a few minutes before and was told I could check in now. I receive a blank stare and then am told quite rudely that a bus full of flight attendants just arrived and they are given rooms before anyone else. Um....ok??? She then tells me she will call me as soon as my room is ready and that I would have to "chill" till then.

So my friend and I decide to have lunch in the hotel lobby lounge. The bartender was so friendly and inviting! Such a change from the rude receptionist. We had lunch at the bar and then took a walk in the area to kill time. At three o'clock I come back to the reception where there is a new person working. To my surprise she says my room has been ready for an hour. I ask why I wasn't called, and apparently no note was left to do so. Grr!!

The room was pretty nice once we got up there, and we had a great view from the 11th floor. The beds were very comfortable with tons of pillows and the softest blankets.

Later I spoke with one of the managers downstairs and told them about the rude service I received earlier on. They were kind enough to offer us a free breakfast the next morning. The breakfast buffet was okay, but had clearly been sitting out unheated for awhile, as everything was cold. All in all it was a nice hotel, I just wish they trained their staff better.

Really nice hotel in a convenient location. It's also nice and close to the airport, so it's perfect for travelers. They staff seems a bit young, but capable, and it hotel wasn't very crowded when I was there in mid April. You do have to pay for parking, so that's a bit of a negative...especially when there seems to be simple parking space all around open and available at all the shops nearby. It also was super cold in the lobby...more so than needed for a warm weathered location. Overall, very clean perfect for my needs.

Great hotel. Very up to date and trendy. Everyone was very polite and tentative.

Rooms were clean, comfy and had a great style to it. Bed and pillows were perfectly plush so the night flew by.

We had some things to put in the refrigerator but the mini bar/refrigerator was locked shut. When we called the front desk they quickly solved the issue by bringing up a small refrigerator and plugged it up nicely. Very efficient.  It was up to our room in about 5 minutes if not less. Excellent.

Check out was smooth. They also gave the option to check out on the TV through the menu option but it wasn't available at that point. Some error. But not a big deal.

I would definitely stay again.

I had a lovely stay here last weekend. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to ft. lauderdale night life. It was my birthday weekend and we planned a little stay-cation.

The rooms were very clean, staff was efficient and very friendly.

One Tip: On Expedia we managed to get our rooms at half price on a 'two hour sale' the day before. So, last minute booking is totally worth it.

The pool area is really nice, a little noise from 17th street but nothing too bad. It filled up pretty quick though, there is usually seating by the jacuzzi/spa.

We reserved two rooms and were hoping that they would be adjacent, however, no two rooms beside one another were available.. but the person checking us in was awesome and was able to put us on the same floor (about 4 rooms apart). That was very considerate.

We were in 'club-level' rooms, which meant that they included access to the club at the top floor. But, the club is closed on weekends so they threw in breakfast vouchers for all in the group instead (Very Nice Gesture).

I would definitely be back here.

Things to note: Parking is not free. Wifi is not free.

The lobby is really gorgeous. Okay that's the only nice thing I have to say!
Disappointed considering we stay at Marriotts all the time.
We arrived the afternoon before our cruise. No shuttle service from airport. We attempted to check in at 330pm, and the front desk attendant advised us to come back "in a few hours" because our room wasn't ready. We left in a cab for downtown ft lauderdale, and she calls 15 minutes later to tell us our room was ready. (Thanks. Could have spared me the 50 dollar round trip ride downtown).
We come back from our ride downtown and sit in the bar area. I try to order a drink off the drink menu. Bartender says "we have no ingredients whatsoever on the menu so don't even look at it... We don't even have lemonade." - this is Florida, right? And why do you have drink menus on every single table that you don't have any ingredients for?
We tried to order food- "oh we don't have anything on that menu either. Maybe you could have a quesadilla?"... We ordered it- completely mediocre.
We go up to our rooms, my parents "suite" has queen sized sheets hanging off their king sized bed. Super loud air conditioner, and awful view from both rooms.
Next morning, 12 dollars pp shuttle to cruise terminal (less than 2 miles away). Highway robbery!!
Won't be staying here again, sorry guys!

We stayed here as an affordable alternative to a wedding venue at one of the hotels on the beach. The location is convenient for the strip area and beach without being engulfed in it. (Traffic is effected by the nearby drawbridge on occasion). The hotel staff varied between mostly friendly and somewhat stoic personalities. The rooms were good considering the location and price. My party thought they were a little on the small side. We viewed both the king suite and the double standard rooms. They are about the same size and they just swap the extra bed for a pull out sofa. The lobby / bar area is warm, inviting, and well appointed. Considering it is a Marriott chain, the rewards perks could be a lot better for premier members. They should at least cover the parking at Platinum level. The top floor concierge lounge is mediocre and the hours of availability are also poor.

Beautiful hotel with a beautiful swimming pool. The staff is super friendly also and accommodating. Although check-in is at 3 PM, we arrived early at about 9:45 AM because we debarked from our cruise ship earlier than we expected. They allowed us to check immediately upon arrival, no questions asked. We will definitely stay here again when in town.

Not only is it an amazing hotel the staff have gone above and beyond to make our honeymoon special! Kasheem is the best at what he does and we couldn't feel more welcome!

The night manager is so dishonest!  The accommodations are good and the rest of the staff was very nice but because of the behavior of the night manager I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! We arrived at the hotel around 10pm by taxi after traveling for many hours.  Someone took our bags from the taxi and we were directed to the front desk where we gave our name for the reservation I had made 6 months ago.  As the gentleman at the desk looked at our reservation he motioned to the other man behind the desk (apparently the manager) who then came and looked at the reservation as well.  He then informed us that due to a renovation that was not completed on time they no longer had a room for us but had found us a room at another hotel 10 miles away.  My husband and I were so extremely shocked at first it took us some time to respond.  I could not understand why no one had contacted me all day to let me know and the manager proceeded to tell me he had no contact information for me.  This was despite the fact that I have received numerous emails about the reservation (so clearly my email address was listed somewhere) and had given both my email address and phone number when making the reservation.

I have traveled extensively and have never ever had anything like this happen.  When I questioned how this was possible he just kept repeating there were no rooms but lucky for us he had found us a hotel room for $50 less 10 miles away.  The Renaissance had been recommended to us by family who had stayed there as we were leaving for a cruise in the morning and wanted to stay near the port.  So not only were we expected to now travel 10 miles away after traveling all day we also had to travel an additional 10 miles in the morning to return to the port.  Moreover, the manager expected us to be grateful he got us a better rate somewhere else.  If we wanted a better rate to stay farther away we would have made that reservation in the first place.

I also could not understand if they truly had NO rooms as the manager said why did they even let us get out of the taxi and why did they both looking up our reservation at all.  Eventually, because we complained long enough, the manager somehow managed to find an available room that just happened to have cancelled at the very moment we were standing at the desk.

In the end our stay was fine but I found it extremely distasteful what occurred and I do not believe for 1 minute that there were truly no rooms available. The dishonesty left a very bad taste in my mouth and if this is in anyway the policy of Renaissance hotels I would not stay at any Renaissance hotel in the future, nor will any of my extensive family or friends.

Nice place that does tend to nickel and dime like many beach hotels.

Let me save you $40 a day.

Avoid the crazy $25 parking (more for valet) by parking along 15th Street. It's 2 blocks away and about a 3 minute walk next to the Starbucks.

WiFi is also overpriced.  Lots of free wifi in the neighborhood.

That said, it's a nice hotel.  The room views are ok, but not breathtaking.  Lots of great restaurants (try Isabella's for Italian or Laspadas for a hoagie) are nearby.

Stayed here for a single night before departing on a caribbean cruise. Decided on staying here instead of elsewhere because of my Marriott rewards. It turned out to be a good choice, as we were able to get free internet as a result. Normally costs $13/day.

Also, if you AAA membership, you may be able to get a free brunch. Haven't tried it yet, but will comment on it later.

Room: 4 stars - your basic room. Nice in the main room, bathroom is so-so. Nothing super fancy, but usable and manageable for one night
Noise: 3 stars - sirens from the main street, can hear shower from room next door
Staff: 5 stars - very nice and helpful! Check-in was a breeze AND they had cookies for you on check-in! Love that!

Beautiful area. Courteous staff. It has a classy feel but with a beachside energy.
The bar/ restaurant area is a bit small and slow, but cute.
The pool is also small. I believe the area is limited due to the proximity to the beach and marina (not a lot of space for exterior areas).
I had a room on the 10th floor with a  fantastic view of the marina and the bridge/overpass which leads to the beach area.
The rooms are comfortable and have all the amenities you need.
Purely enjoyed every moment.

Pre-booked for one night before our Royal cruise in May 2013 using our AAA membership.  We were able to check in early around 11am without any issues although we were already prepared that if the room wasn't ready, we would have walked around that area but not sure what to do with our bags!

Lobby was very nice and fancy!  Didn't check the bar or restaurant out although we did have breakfast package so it was a nice breakfast buffet.  Didn't pay for WiFi.  The pool was small but not crowded and we enjoyed it.  Room was very basic but like other people said it's outdated, may need some improvements on carpet, walls, bed, etc.  Didn't use mini fridge, we used ice bucket with clear plastic bag to keep our drinks cold.

The huge advantage about staying at this hotel, there is Walgreens right across street and we were able to buy several things for our cruise!  Walk distance to liquor store, shops, and restaurants.  We had an incredible time just walking around that area.  We did enjoy staying there without any problems!  We do plan on staying there again for our future cruise!  Hopefully they will update the rooms or something like that by then!

No serious issues with the hotel. Very solid experience. If the wi-fi didn't cost $13 and if there was a poolside bar I would without question stay here again. Seems more business trip oriented as apposed to a resort/vacation spot.

This hotel does not honor reservations!!  Apparently they've decided to copy the airline industry's model of bumping customers.  Of course unlike the Renaissance, when airlines bump you they at least make it up to you somehow.

I made a reservation here months in advanced and arrived on time that night (after receiving an email a couple days before saying everything was set).  Then this little smug prick behind their desk tried telling me that no rooms were available and that he'd have to transfer me to another cheaper hotel 15 minutes away!  Of course he wasn't going to reimburse me for the money I paid to get a taxi there, or the money I'd have to spend to get a taxi back from the other hotel to the cruise port.  I asked to speak with someone with more seniority but he insisted that there was nobody else I could talk to, he was the "night manager."

The hotel had my contact info if because they previously emailed me, so why wasn't I contacted and told there were no rooms before I paid for a taxi to take me there?  After I argued with the smug little prick for awhile all of a sudden a room magically became available!  What a coincidence!  That kind of made me even angrier because he clearly made up the fact there were no rooms available and was just trying to transfer me for some strange reason, I guess to fill up their other hotel far away that nobody wanted to stay at.

I personally don't want to have to worry about a hotel bumping my reservation.  So I won't be staying here again!

As far as room quality, service and location, this hotel is my favorite whenever I'm sailing out of Port Everglades. Recently completed renovating their rooms, it's noticeably more relaxing and contemporary in theme.. Ground level restaurant's buffet breakfast is seemingly always depleted. Use of computers stationed in lobby are complimentary. Parking garage is $25 per diem with in and out privileges. Street parking is metered.. Abundant shopping resources for last minute sundry items and restaurants are all within walking distance. Plenty of cabs and shuttle bus are at your beckon for Port Everglades.

To be completely honest, my company booked me with this hotel as a gesture of appreciation for working the week of New Years, and although I appreciate the thought I'm afraid that the money was not well spent. Yes it is clean and its modern decor is visually stunning. HOWEVER, the entire point of the hospitality industry is CUSTOMER SERVICE correct? The staff was unjustifiably snobby and rude. As a guest of this "4 star hotel", not only are you charged for internet but parking as well. Lol And trust me they take pride in their parking spots, so expect to pay a few hundred dollars just to park for the week. In addition, small things like not having water accessible (not even for purchase), no mini fridge or caffeinated coffee in the rooms...hilariously they do provide complimentary DECAF tea and coffee in your room, but you'll have to pay for anything caffeinated. I was there for 6 days and there were several times that my washcloths and hand towels weren't replaced. They refused to take the old plastic bag out of my ice bucket much less replace my sticky glasses (yes I'm being picky and a little ridiculous but at that point  I missed home and clean glasses, even once that week would've been nice). I even set my 2 glasses in the bathtub and again in the sink as a way to clarify that I would like clean ones...no dice. Lol

Decor, location, comfort all great. Customer service is a joke here. My company booked me here and I never expect much from hotels anymore but I asked for 2 simple things: my rewards number attached to the stays and I needed a working iron. They said they would attach the rewards account, never did. I called for a new iron and they never brought one. And there was no "do not disturb" sign for the door so they have to come in daily. Additionally, $18 for their buffet breakfast is insane for what they give you. It was comparable to a Hampton Inn free breakfast. Oh yeah, broken elliptical in the fitness center. Where does all the money go? For the money you should go somewhere else.

It's a Renaissance ... not the RItz. Arriving at 3:30 PM my pre-booked room wasn't ready, but the front desk was friendly and offered me a free cocktail in the bar. Half an hour later the room was ready. It was nice and clean, but nothing to write home about. The bed was average at best. Too soft and worn. The air conditioner rattled, but it was not too hot so I could leave it off at night. The TV was dead on day two and it took a few hours to get it replaced. The complimentary breakfast lounge door was locked by 9:30 AM, but when I beat the lock out, the food was okay. Drinking water was in the room on day one, but nothing on day two. Probably just an oversight.

What can I say? The staff was very friendly, but overall everything was far from perfection.

Stayed here before a cruise and it fit the bill.  Decor was nice and more modern than other local hotels we looked at. Was able to check in early which we appreciated.  Bed was comfortable and clean.

The cons - no free wifi, no free breakfast of any kind (not even continental).  They did have computers you could use in the "business" lounge.  Computers were a joke running a joke of a processor and still rocking vista. Took a shower and the water pressure was so great, that is actually started hurting my back and I'm actually a fan of high pressure.  There was also no way of not making a mess of the bathroom. Even with the shower curtain completely closed, the floor still ended up soaked with water.

We had a comfortable stay for a night but wouldn't be looking to this hotel again for an extended stay.

Great staff and very nice rooms - Clean and look very modern.

I can't say enough good things about the staff, as they were quick with the check-in process, worked easily with our requests and were very helpful on our departure.

Great experience.
