We were introduced by a friend who stayed there before. Was a little sceptical at first mainly because i tend to stay away from recommendations. The staff were really friendly and personable. Herb the owner is extremely helpful. Loved the suite that we stayed in. Comes with a kitchen and a living room. Huge for the price we're paying. We particularly liked the back jacuzzi area -cozy and private.

Loved the place so much that we went back to stay again next week. The second room was smaller but nice. Everything's tastefully done. They are extremely attentive to the detail right down to the toilet paper. The place is always kept clean and tidy.

Would definitely recommend it to friends!

The Grand Resort and Spa (   grandresort.net )  is located off of A1A on Birch Road (off of Vistamar St. near the beach.)  The front entrance can be deceiving.  At first glance, it appears to be little more than a nicely renovated Motel near Ft. Lauderdale Beach, but enter the secured entrance, and you realize that GRAND is a fitting description.

The Grand occupies about a third of the block and is completely surrounded by tropical plantings and  high walls.  The front pool area (clothing required due to the surrounding high-rise condos) is spotless, with towels and lounges for sitting and sun-bathing.  The back area, near the Spa (clothing optional) is next to a hot-water Jacuzzi and fountain.

The Spa:  The Spa, available to guests and non-guests, caters to those who love to be pampered.  There are a variety of packages and prices from Massages to Facials, Manicures and Pedicures.

The Swedish Massage:  You're led into a small, comfortable, spotless room with a table, soft music, mirrors and artwork.  Remove your clothes and prepare to be pampered.   The masseuse is professional and the full body deep tissue massage is beyond relaxing.  Lasts about 50 minutes.

The Deep Cleansing Facial: After your massage, you're led to another quiet room.  The facial includes several phases, from deep cleansing, to pore-cleaning, to hot-towel treatments, to light neck and foot massage.  Lasts about 35 minutes.

After the Spa: Even non-hotel guests are welcome to stay a while, enjoy the pool and take a dip in the Jacuzzi, so bring your towel, your IPod, and a change of clothes and be prepared for an unparalleled, ultimately relaxing experience.

Two person cost for Deep Tissue Swedish Massage and Cleansing Facial, with tips, is approximately $400.00.  Call the SPA and ask for their other pricing options, from $125 and up.  Save up a few bucks and do it (or beg for a gift card from someone who loves you!) You won't regret it.

Parking can be an issue, so bring plenty of change.  Metered parking is nearby and runs about $1/hour.  Ticketing is strictly enforced.

I found the Grand Resort on the internet after searching through several of the Gay B&B's and resorts.  From the internet marketing... it was a winner so I thought the hotel might be a good match.
Simply put... it was.....
The staff and property are first rate.... the attention to detail is awesome... example.... beach bag in the closet for you to take to the beach... no charge as long as you remember to return it. An umbrella in the closet....beverage service all day...coffee in the am...ice tea/lemonaide in the afternoon. First rate linens...inside the room and poolside. Beach umbrellas and chairs to borrow at no cost. The Grand provides a very simple no frills continental breakfast. On Weekend afternoons, a complimentary wine reception with some simple munchies are supplied giving the hotel guests a chance to meet. The property is very clean and well maintained.... All fixtures and furnishings inside and out are in top condition. Wonderful gardens, landscaping, fountains and a very kind and professional staff. I'm a spa fan and have had the pleasure of enjoying some of the best...(Miraval/Sonoma Mission Inn..) I'm pleased to report for a small spa... the treatments and staff are second to none.... Nice job!!! In the past, there were occasions when selecting a gay restaurant/resort/business meant you sacrificed a certain quailty that top straight businesses offered just to support the gay business. I'm so glad to see that is all in the past.

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights.  We had a "junior suite" with a full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine complete with a small kitchen area.  The room was tastefully furnished with a large comfy leather chair, dark brown blinds, slate floor tiles and a king size bed.  The fridge was stocked with beers, a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, water and there were a lot of snacks and chips to go with it.  You are charged nominally for these and they are replenished daily.  The prices were nowhere near what is charged in large hotels, giving a feeling of abundance, rather than rip-off.

Daily room service was thorough and impeccable.  The heated main pool was large and clean, with ample space around it for sitting and sun tanning.  There is a separate sun tanning deck as well.  In the back, there is a clothing-optional 8-person hot tub, which was great to experience.  You are allowed to use the pool or the tub 24-hours a day--no silly rules there.

Both of us got great manicures and pedicures, and enjoyed 80min Swedish massage with reflexology.  The spa staff were very competent and friendly, just like the rest of the crew.  Coffee, iced-tea and lemonade were self-served for free day long.  Complimentary continental breakfast was available daily between 7am and 11am.

We loved the place, the no-attitude friendly service, and closeness to the beach.  Everything was geared to invite you back, rather than ripping you off now that you were there.  We definitely will be back.

My boyfriend and I recently spent the weekend in Ft Lauderdale. As if that wasn't quite gay enough, we decided to stay at a gay resort... yeah...

After doing a little bit of internet research, we came to the conclusion that a lot of the resorts there cater to the "lemon party" crowd (and if you don't know what that is... just google it and you won't be disappointed), so we decided to be safe and go for a nice place.

We chose the Grand Resort after reading some good reviews, and I have to say that was a good choice. Apparently they require a three night stay during the high season (winter and spring), but we got lucky as they had a "suite" (no less) available for just two days the weekend we wanted to do. So we ended up booking the suite, which was a bit more pricey than I hoped but eh...

Fast forward a couple of months...

The Grand Resort is located just a couple of blocks from the beach. On our arrival we were greeted by one of the owners (or managers?) who was very friendly and checked us in quickly. The resort is pretty... very clean, and they're clearly making an effort with the gardens etc. There's one pool area, and another "tropical courtyard" which has a hot tub and is supposed to be clothing optional (though very few people actually were naked). Our suite was essentially a small apartment, with living room, bedroom, and separate kitchen: it was definitely nice, though I still think it was a tad bit pricey.

As for the crowd (since after all we went through all this trouble to go to a gay resort...), it was mostly guys in their 30s and early 40s... not too "lemony", thankfully.

Anyway... the verdict: we had a good time there, and this is definitely a nice place, and it looked quite a bit nicer than the other resorts around. I'd probably consider going back if I could get a cheaper room.

My friend and I stayed there for 5 nights. When we arrived, we were greeted and given a tour of the resort. We were also pleasantly surprised to hear that we were upgraded to the deluxe suite for no extra charge. When we entered our suite, we were both wowed by how clean and luxurious our accommodations were.
The staff was extremely pleasant throughout our stay...suggesting fun restaurants and unique places to shop. The crowd is mainly a 30+ "chill" crowd, although it did get a little wild late Friday and Saturday night.
Overall, the location, amenities, and service were all A+++. We had a great trip and look forward to going back to Ft. Lauderdale.
The only reason I did not give them 5 out of 5 was mostly out of their control: I was double charged for my booking by their credit card system due to a glitch in the system and had to make about 4 phone calls to get it resolved. Mark at the resort was very helpful but it took one week to clear up. Other than that, it was a great experience.

I cannot speak about the hotel but I did have the lucky chance to experience a deep tissue massage this afternoon with Harry and it was AMAZING! I considered trying out the spa at my hotel (The Westin) but their services seemed overpriced and underrated. I am glad I walked a couple blocks to the Grand Resort. Very comfortable setting, everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and it was not at all weird that I was a woman. And again, the massage was to die for (and I have been to numerous masseuses at home and at resorts and I'd say I'm happy less than 50% of the time). Try it out, I know I will try to make another trip before my time in FL is done.

We stayed here for Labor Day weekend.  This is a very nice hotel with nice rooms, courtyards, jacuzzi, pool, gym, continental breakfast, local info brochures, etc.  Our rooms were very clean and sleek with a mid-size fridge and microwave, sitting areas, walkin closet, and easy swipe locks on the doors.  Only two small blocks to the beach.  Parking was tight, but we always found a spot by the hotel.  Nice quiet neighborhood.  Several other abandoned hotels were located throughout the neighborhood...but this one knows how to stay afloat and keep clientele happy.

Two friends and I recently spent a long weekend at The Grand Resort.  This place is beautiful, clean, and in a great location.  The staff are friendly and professional and consistently go the extra mile to take care of the guests.  I've never seen such attention to detail.

I've stayed at many gay guest houses around the U.S. and a few overseas.  This is the best of the best.

For a recent vacation to Fort Lauderdale, I was looking for a place to stay that would be relaxing, private and provide a spa/resort atmosphere to allow me to pamper myself, something this practical guy doesn't do often enough. After Internet research and discussions with friends, the Grand Resort and Spa came up several times with positive reviews. It has been rated as one of the best gay-owned and operated spas in the U.S.

The Grand did not disappoint. The resort is very private with hotel key entrances needed to get in and fence/wall around the perimeter. Uber friendly staff is there to help with whatever you need. They were all so accommodating.

I sprung for the five day pampering package with the pool view room. The package prices were beyond reasonable for all of what you get at the Grand.

The room was large and well-maintained with great tile flooring, a huge king bed and a big walk in closet. Even the room mini-bar was quite reasonably priced.  The room also included a microwave, a coffee maker and a small kitchen counter area complete with utensils, plates, most importantly, a wine opener.

The grounds of the Grand are lush with plants and palm trees. The spa is in the back area of the resort, where the Jacuzzi and fountain courtyard are located. The Jacuzzi was always a great place to relax before an evening out or turning in for bed.

The staff at the Grand Spa was incredibly professional and very skilled at their craft. Props to Wesley who was the best of the staff members I worked with.

My visit was during the "off" season, so it was a very quiet atmosphere with 20 - 30 guests staying while I was there. The pool, of course, was normally the center of social activity. It was well maintained with pool side happy hours with drinks and food on most days of the week. The only real draw back was not having pool side bar service, but I understood the limitations given the privately owned operation of the resort. Your room has a refrigerator so you can have your own cold beverages as needed.

The Grand is about two blocks from the beach. I spent my time there next to the resort's pool soaking up rays. The resort's location is pretty convenient (though not necessarily walking distance) to dining options, and nightlight is about 3 - 5 miles away.

This was my first experience at a gay-owned resort, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of spa/resort experience in Fort Lauderdale. The staff obviously takes great pride in providing a pleasurable experience for their guests.

The spa at the Grand Resort is truly top notch. A friendly warm feeling, highly talented staff and the leadership of JD Greene, all combine to make a wonderful experience. I have been a guest at the Grand for many years, and I enjoy it each and every time.

This is a review of a different kind.  I actually came to the Grand Resort and Spa because for a job interview.  I got the interview through a friend of a friend.  When I showed up for my interview, the manager Bill had forgotten that we had set the appointment that afternoon.  Initially he had me come in and wait, but after ten minutes he sent one of the other staff to tell me that he was too busy and he was just going to collect my resume, etc. I had already emailed my resume to him, Bill, directly, so I didn't understand what his problem was.  I took the time to show up on time for an interview.  I had the credentials to be an excellent employee.  The place seemed very nice, but I think the manager Bill did me a favor.  He came across as a nelly queen anyway.  No one should have to put up with that kind of treatment, especially an applicant who might be a future customer one day.   So now I am writing this review crticizing the place.

Stayed here with my partner for anniversary a few weeks ago. An excellent choice. Modern decor, kinda Pottery Barn browns and modern feel. Very good staff, and a quiet enjoyable atmosphere. This is not a sexualized resort, at least we did not feel that in the off season. There is clothing optional back in the hot tub area, but this is not that kind of establishment. The coffee in the morning was very good, they apologize for the fact that they must serve packaged as opposed to home made breakfast bread due to state regulations. A block walk to beach and near other resorts that cater to more party activity, Grand is for grown ups who want to enjoy a trip to FL without walking into a nightclub scene. Parking seemed tight, but we had no problems finding a space. The building was well maintained and very clean. We didn't try the spa, but were told it is quite popular with locals.

Off season rates were excellent, we will return and certainly would book here during high season as well.

While my partner and I didn't stay here, we did visit the spa for a massage and took full advantage of the pool and hot tub for the afternoon while there. I had a great massage by JD -- a week later, and I'm still thinking about it. He had a great -- and very professional -- touch. Definitely stop in for some R&R, even if you're not staying here!

Just because this is a better looking resort than the gay resort we have stayed at twice in Palm Springs doesn't mean I'm not going to mention that the reception guy brought their stars down to 4. He's an older guy. Not very friendly at all. In this respect the gay resort we stayed at in Palm Springs blows away The Grand Resort. Another reason they only get 4 stars is because my laptop did not fit in the room's safe - very lame! The way the safe was placed made it impossible to put the laptop in - regardless of the fact it was technically big enough.

The Grand resort is classy as gay resorts go. When you come in there is a screen on the reception desk that has your name on it. A message on it welcomes you to the resort. I thought that was a nice touch. The rooms are really, really nice and when you walk in you are greeted by music coming from a radio. There are lots of electrical outlets which is really convenient. You get complimentary breakfast - hard boiled eggs, bagels, yogurt, cereal, etc. There are expensive snacks in your room as well as a fridge full of expensive drinks. They actually did come in handy even though they were kind of pricey.

Part of the resort is clothing optional. The jacuzzi is back there. The drawback is that you can run into some slimy guys. We were hanging out at the jacuzzi when some older nude guy popped in. We weren't nude. He started chatting and all was fine until it was obvious he was trying to see if he could get some kind of action. Lame.  Needless to say we left when he started trying to dominate the conversation with sex talk.

This resort is located very close to Sebastian Beach which is the local gay beach! About 10 minutes give or take. If you want to hit a "straight beach" your walk is even shorter. Parking can be an issue. From the resort you get great views of the major hotels. There really aren't any restaurants or places to get food nearby. You have to walk a little to get to them. We were not here during the peak season and one night we were almost unable to find nearby parking. You can park in front or in a rear lot they have.

We have stayed at the Grand during our last four visits. Most recently last month. The staff make you feel like you are visiting a close friend for a few days instead of staying in a hotel. They truly go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. From the happy hours to the umbrellas for the beach they live up to their name. Bravo!

This hotel is really great. This is the first time I stayed at an all-male resort and it debunked a lot of preconceptions I had about them. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are very clean. I even had a facial at the spa and it was one of the most informative sessions I've ever had, without someone trying to sell me something. If I had to find something to criticize, it would be the wi-fi. I was in a room towards the front of the hotel and the wifi signal was weak. If I was in bed, I would have to turn on my hotspot from time to time. This was really a find and a great place. So much so that my husband and I are now thinking about making this a vacation destination.

On prior visits to Fort Lauderdale, I had been pretty loyal to another resort in the area.  However, on my last visit there, it just wasn't the same and I had heard of the Grand Resort and decided to give it a try.  The website looked great, there were some decent Yelp reviews and the Spa sounded especially impressive.  I was definitely not let down!

From the time we arrived, we were made to feel welcome.  The front desk staff was warm and inviting and even though one of them was in training, they went out of their way to make sure that we felt at home at the resort.  We got a complete tour of the grounds and were greeted with cool facecloths, which were much needed on the hot August day.

Not only were we led to our Penthouse Suite on the third floor by both individuals, they insisted on carrying our bags up the three flights of stairs.  They made sure we were familiar with the room and amenities and the room was very well laid out.  The two bedroom, two bath suite was very comfortable and both bedrooms had king size beds.  The beds were so comfortable that for the three nights I was there I slept through the night without waking up until my alarm went off, and that never happens.

There are many options for relaxing.  You can sit on the nature walk, relax in the jacuzzi in the clothing optional area or by the pool up front. Good choices for whatever suits you.  They serve a continental breakfast in the mornings with a lot of choices and a happy hour in the evenings Thursday through Sunday.

One of the highlights of the stay was definitely the spa.  I went all out.  Deep sea mud wrap, swedish massage, manicure and pedicure.  The staff is warm, inviting, makes you feel comfortable and Olin gives a great massage.  If your looking for a spa getaway, their spa is award winning and you won't be disappointed.

I am on the road every week for work, so it is rare that I take the time to actually write a review for a place that I have stayed.  However, The Grand deserves it. I will definitely be back and only wish I could have stayed MUCH longer!  Thanks for making our brief getaway memorable.

J D gives the all time best hair cut hands down! I've never known a stylist to be as detail with the cut for a guy! He trims the eye brows and used a steam towel after the shampoo. It's an experience. It was a 30.00 charge for what should have easily been 60.00. Very funny and extremely personable too. Best experience you'll have HANDS DOWN!  Sebastian C.

We spent 5 days in room 32, a generous size one bedroom apartment, first floor just off the clothing optional hot tub and steps from the spa.
The entire experience was comfortable, friendly and relaxing.  We really enjoyed the  thorough and friendly service.  We had a kitchenette, living area, small terrace and just off the hot tub and rear parking access.
We had a minor housekeeping problem but they jumped to resolve.
There is some difficulty parking if you return late weekend nights.   There's a lot to do here, sun deck, pool, happy hour, club room, spa, and hot tub.  Interesting good looking client mix, a 35+ crowd in an atmosphere that encourages friendliness no sexual competition.
The spa services were excellent.  We had couples one hour facial; a delightful indulgence.   Next time, I'd choose more spa services.
We'll definitely go back.  Take staff advice and get the larger one bedroom; the hot tub rear section is not noisy and pleasantly social.
Good job guys.
