Wow gone downhill fast....Grumpy manager...used to be nice..but they don't even sweep around the hotel pool anymore...after a windstorm myself and another guest cleaned the pool of leaves, in addition to leaves, used condoms, beer cans...They just don't care. towels for pool use are threadbare and stained from bleach. outdoor furniture is falling apart. Their "pride" flag is in tatters so much for pride...will not be going back

I visited the windamar for a fun Friday-Monday long weekend in May of '13, it's a great spot a block away from the beach. I was pleased to find a group of friendly, low key guys hanging out by poolside every day I was there. The room and pool area were clean and well maintained, and the staff really made me feel at home.

Last before we leave. For a boutique hotel, the owners should at least ensure the proper customer training of their workforce. The manager on duty is the most unfriendly *@!hole human eyes have ever seen. In any other place he'd be on his hiney out the door. In the four days we were at the Windamar, no acknowledgement, not even a good morning, not even the most remote gesture of hospitality. Guests have to get things by themselves, as the hotel manager simply doesn't seem to care. The last straw came while printing the boarding passes and they had two of the same printers installed which conflicted with each other. When brought to his attention, a shoulder shrug is all we got.
It will be a cold day in hell when we come back to this place.

what a great place, friendly people and staff. the hotel is old and does need some updating but otherwise very clean great pool and hot tub and very close to the beach. I actually went to this hotel two times in 2014 and plan to return spring of 2015

Just got back from another fun trip. Great group of people always there. There always seems to be updated improvements. A new phase of bathrooms installed and I noticed the landscaping was all freshly trimmed. Day trippers are now $15.00 for a pass which I think is getting pricey.

I've stayed at a number of similar small gay properties around the country and this one is about average, overall. It's a small older motel that's been fixed up a little and furnished on a limited budget. My room was small but reasonably clean and pleasant. The pool area is attractive. Parking is limited. Breakfast is basic. With one exception, the staff was very friendly. The location, a block from the gay beach, is excellent. At $191 per night plus tax for a single, the price seemed a bit steep. "You pay to be gay."
For better or worse, this place has a high "sexual temperature." There is a sex playroom, and on Saturday nights the hotel hosts a sex party which attracts a rather unsavory crowd. People roam the grounds and make noise until 3:00 a.m.

Friendly staff. The pool is great! Hot tub is always busy! The guys who stay here don't have attitude and everyone is friendly. We have stayed here 3 times and keep coming back for more. Oh video room is nice too.
