It took about 30 minutes to check in this past weekend (Feb 28th).When we got to the room it was not the room we requested. We went downstairs to get the correct room type. Then we were told about a power outage due to weather. Hey, that's perfectly understandable. BUT...we went back to the initial room and there was another couple there. Very awkward. So, we finally got the room key to the room that had no power. Not a big deal since we wanted to shower and there was plenty of sunlight. My complaint is mainly about the customer service. I was not a fan of how they treated the guests. I highly doubt I would stay there again.

This property is very nice.,There's just not much around it as far as walking distance for dinner or breakfast.,The wifi is terrible. And cell service is awful if you have ATT&T. Don't plan to get much done, the wifi is like a 2000 dial up connection slow. The room was nice and hotel staff very nice. I wouldn't come back here again until the wifi is improved.

I stay at this hotel every year for an annual conference, and some years I'm here more often than once a year. I will say that the grounds and the oceanview are beautiful. Two stars for the grounds.
However, there is a serious problem with customer service. Normally, I wouldn't throw an establishment under the bus for an isolated incident. But this is the second year in a row that the same exact thing happened. Thus it is no longer an isolated incident but a pattern.
When arriving to check in at the hotel...admittedly at 3 PM, an hour before check-in time...there was no room ready for me. That's fine, I can except that I was early. However the desk clerk who checked me in took my cell phone number and told me the front desk would call when my room was ready. 7 1/2 hours later I went to the desk myself to be told the room was indeed ready. I never got a call. The same thing happened to my colleague...she never got a call telling her that her room was ready. What makes this a non-isolated incident is the same exact thing happened last year...to both myself and my colleague. Once is an isolated incident. Four times is a pattern.
There is a pattern here of lying to the customers. I don't know what the game is...whether they expect you to stay at the hotel bar paying for overpriced drinks, or some other game, I just don't know what it is.
The interesting thing is last year this hotel was under the Westin flag, now it's under the Hilton flag, and although ownership has changed, the same callous, inexcusable customer service remains.
I would highly recommend, when staying in the Hollywood/Hallandale Beach area, to not stay at the Hilton Diplomat Hotel. They seem to have no respect for the customers who pay their salaries. It's a very unfortunate situation.
When one is paying several hundred dollars a night for a 19 or 20 hour "day" one would hope to have access to the room for even that shortened amount of time. The 6 1/2 hours I was not allowed access to the room is money out of my pocket. Does the Diplomat care? Apparently, absolutely not. Spend your money wisely: in other words elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I just returned tonight from a 4 night stay at this resort and we both loved the place! Upon arrival, 11am, we were able to check in and got upgraded to an ocean front balcony room.
I found that the valet, door greeters, front desk, and the pool side attendants were all very friendly and attentive. The concierge was awesome too, they called Gigi's restaurant and within 15 minutes our table along the water was ready. After the first night, we upgraded to a corner suite that had a HUGH balcony and beautiful views of both the intracoastal and the ocean. We booked this place last minute and both of us were extremely happy with our entire stay. The pool area and beach was also beautiful and clean. We cannot wait to return!!!!!!

WOW........I am still looking for words to explain the front desk service and with out bad language I can't . Check in was at 4 it is 5:28 and they still have not gotten our room.... This really sucks that this place has gone to hell. I guess it's the FB for us.....

Diamond status means NOTHING, As a diamond member I was told I could check in early, however I have been sitting in the lobby since noon. Can't use the pool which makes it really disappointing on a beautiful day and it's my birthday sitting in a lobby for 4 hours isn't very nice.

I was a +1 for a conference weekend.
We arrived around noon - crazy time since everyone was checking out. There were tons of folks at the check-in counters. We got lucky and got early check-in for a room 2731, which has a wrap around balcony. We had a view of the ocean and of the intercoastal areas. They said rooms for the conference were already decided. We had no status, so I'm guessing we just checked in at the right time.
Dated interior. The bathroom however is slightly more up to date and has a nice waterfall shower head. The toiletries were non-branded. Housekeeping was good. We had a King bed and thought it weird that there wasn't a bedside table on one end. The bed was comfy and I loved the view. There is also a lounge chair, chairs, table on the balcony. Wipe before you sit! There's also a fridge. Despite being fairly close to the elevator, it was super quiet.
Free in lobby. Starts at $12.95 in the room. The cheapest option was too slow at night to stream video.
Tried ordering once but was turned off how no one picked up for "Guest Services" after half a minute of ringing?
- The market has a decent amount of food. I liked the tropical mousse cake which was mango and coconut. The orange juice in the fridge is freshly squeezed and delicious. They also have Starbucks coffee. Not cheap, like all of the other dining options.
- Cafe - it's only open for breakfast/lunch. I had breakfast here on 2 mornings. I ordered a la carte and did the buffet the second morning since it was super empty. The interiors are not cleaned very well. Crumbs on the chair, dust on the jams. It's not a typical "nice" hotel restaurant. A bit rushed. I got egg whites with veggies, made to order. The belgian waffle was also delicious.
- Diplomat Prime - We had made a reservation but it was too early, so we cancelled and walked in for seats at the bar. The bartender was lovely. Good cocktails, overcooked ribeye, good apps (foie gras, lump crab meat)... all at a price of course. You can take drinks back to your room.
I didn't use any of the pools. It was crowded over the weekend, much less on Monday. Even when crowded there are still lots of empty chairs. I rented a chair/umbrella on the beach for $31. Everything comes with a price. Sidenote: there's sunrise yoga on a few mornings for $10/pp.
This is a very residential area and nothing much is in walking distance. (Walmart area is 15ish minutes walk per Google Maps.) I called Uber three times and each time no matter what the pickup estimate was, it was more like 15-20 minutes. Just be forewarned. Sometimes it's probably better to take a taxi though they aren't always readily available. There's also a trolley that goes up the main road.

Not sure why this resort has low ratings, but I love it! 28th floor with beautiful views!! My room is very clean and updated. Very private as well. You have the option to valet or park yourself. An easy going stay! The staff is friendly as well.

We went to visit our friends who stayed there over the weekend and right away I knew that I have to try it myself, originally we spent our winter break vication at my family's house in the area -you don't really gets the viacation mood if you're not spending a night or two in hotel right?! So we decided to be spontaneous and we booked at the diplomat .
Wow what a great hotel, the food the stuff the poll -everything was perfect !!!!
I can wait until the next viacation

Amazing resort the concierge Samantha was soo accommodating I needed double beds and a crib for the baby which I had not requested earlier and she still made it happen to top it off she gave us an ocean view room which was breath taking
Pools are 24 hrs which is great and so are the jacuzzi nice to go late at night when it isn't so packed and more relaxing
Ok now taking off one star bc if u pay soo much they should give you free wifi which wS 12.95 a night ok so I paid it and it barely worked! Really weak signal and cell reception bad too (personal cell was sprint and work was Att( and both didn't work well

I have stayed at this property several times in the past when it was a Westin and it has gone completely down hill! There is no question that the property is beautiful and the pool and beach facilities are topnotch. Those are the only two positive things Im able to write in this review. The overcrowding and gross lack customer service...even the ability for any hotel employee I had the misfortune of dealing with to treat guests with kindness, respect, or any sincere willingness to improve their experience is NON existent.
My weekend of disappointment started when I had to wait for 45 minutes to checkin at 4pm. Once I finally made it to the front of the line, I was told that my room was still not ready and that even though I booked a king ocean front room, they apologized but due to the hotel being 'fully committed,' there were no king rooms available. Not a huge deal, but this was just the start. Front desk attendants were extremely slow and very rude. This hotel has turned into a complete disaster. It's easy to see why Starwood pulled the Westin name. I could continue with more painful missteps by their staff, but I just got home and I don't really care to continue thinking of my wasted weekend. One final tidbit - One of their employees actually ran away from the concierge desk when I had been standing there for 15 minutes to request a new room key. Mind you, I was told to get a new key at the concierge desk as my room key expired at 11am. The lobby was completely slammed and besides the 5 security guards all standing in the middle of the lobby, there was no help in sight. I would especially like to call out Christopher at the concierge desk who was smug, sarcastic, and lacking any sympathy for guests wasting their day away standing in lines.
This hotel has seen much better days and is in shoddy condition. The rooms need repainting and updating. The furniture is cheap and looks worn. It is at best a 2.5 star room. We had also reserved a balcony room and when we arrived in our room we had a window - NO BALCONY. WHY DID I HAVE TO PAY $449 FOR THIS ROOM? This place is a horrible joke.

I had a great experience during my three night stay at this resort. The place is very spacious, and we were upgraded to a room with a view of the Hollywood skyline. I would have preferred an ocean view, but that's okay.
The resort features an infinity pool along with a second pool on the second level, and if that's not enough water to dip your feet in, there's a beach just a few steps away.
The gym was clean and it had a really fun and inviting atmosphere, but even at 6:00 am it was pretty busy. I guess everyone wanted to look fabulous in their swim suits, much like myself.
Room service was a little slow, and there was a bloody fight at the bar on night three, but that didn't put a damper on my visit. I only wish I could have stayed longer, in order to enjoy more of what the resort offered.
