WOW!  Caution hotwire users.  This hotel falls into the same zone as some highly recommendable "two star" hotels.  You have to have zero expectations if you stay here.

I would NEVER STAY HERE.... The surrounding area is horrible and I felt unsafe. I saw the room and I ran out the door. There was blood stains on the floor... Bugs, used needles under the bed... the patio door didn't lock... I felt like I was visit a crime scene. I DONT RECOMMOND THIS HOTEL TO A SINGLE WOMAN STAYING HERE ALONE. I WOULD EVEN TELL MY MOTHER STAY HERE. While my boyfriend and I was walking to the room two woman approach up in the hall way asking if we wanted drugs.. OMG!!! I told the woman at the front desk we not staying here and I want my refund and we got our refund and RAN OUT OF THERE. WARNING: IF YOU DONT MIND BEING WITH LOW LIFES, AND WEIRD PEOPLE THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.. IF ITS NOT FOR YOU, GO TO THE HOLIDAY INN LIKE WE DID.

Mold... need I say more? We needed a place to crash for a few hours after landing; should've slept at the terminal!

This is the most disgusting hotel ever. Plus they say that a full-size bed is a king-size? On top of it reception gave me major attitude when I asked for clarification. Still not sure what she is thinking!!! I am an extremely unhappy customer at this point. It's sad when the janitor has more common sense then the people handing reception.

I guess it wasn't clarified correctly in the system the reception thought that it really was a king. She has since fixed the issue. Have not yet seen the room but I can only hope that it's better.

I booked this place with credit card points, mistakenly without checking yelp's ratings. My card showed this place as a 3 star hotel for $200+ per night. We were only staying overnight, so we figured it would be fine. The hotel is more like a motel. It's old, muggy, and gross. We didn't want to touch anything, let alone sleep in our bed. It's also in a really sketchy area. We walked across the street to iHop (also don't recommend) and were in fear of getting mugged. Don't stay here...

Needless to speak. This is a place you should never stay.
I was only planing to stay here for a few hour at the mean time of flight transfer, and I found the room is mold and not clean. After I got bite by bed bug, I found it below the pillow and killed it immediately. I left the blood spot and dead body of the bed bug on the sheet, and informed the front desk that I am checking out. It was 1am.After a few days, I tried to call them and see whats going on. They told me there is no bed bug in the room and no one has ever complained about it. hmmm..I googled it, it seems like many people complained about it. Maybe they do not use internet. The area is also no safe. Even Motel is better than it. Overall, its cheap, but I would rather stay in the airport than this bed bug infested hotel. There were some good review on the other websites, I am not sure how could it happened.

Should have known off the top that this was going to be an ugly experience, based on other Yelpers' reviews. I chose this place on Expedia's travel packages because it was one of the cheaper options available and just needed someplace to "crash", as some would say.

Bad and clearly inappropriate customer service with this lady (she said she's originally from Romania and lived most recently in San Jose, California) asking me these irrelevant and "personal" questions. I generally do not like to answer "personal" questions from others unless we have really gotten to know each other very well, and besides, it was none of her f%$&ing business in the first place, being so close-minded. She got my name wrong on the contract/papers when checking in with her and I had to correct it even after I was asked to provide some ID for verification purposes. Damn you effing closed-minded staff! And keep in mind, that I had spend all day (from about 8:00 AM) driving up from Key West all the way back to the Fort Lauderdale area, and I was burned out already from the heavy traffic and erratic drivers constantly tailing and cutting you off!

The rooms are definitely not what you see in the photos and on their website. Parts of the room were definitely dirty and stained from previous users. Chairs and tables also had stains and/or were dirty. Some other basic amenities that should have been there were missing or not provided, such as racks to hang your towel and hold your suitcase. No facial tissue either!?

Also, the bars of soap absolutely sucked. Probably better off buying and bringing your own body wash, shampoo and soap, etc. The television sets are so ancient, it's not even funny. These are really old Zenith standard definition TVs that nobody makes anymore! Seriously, can't this place afford to get newer HD TVs!? It's the year 2015, and I'm sure they have the money to do so. No laundry services on-site, but there are some convenient locations not too far away, though their hours vary.

The door to your room is really hit or miss. Sometimes it won't close all the way by itself and you have to force it shut. Other times, when trying to enter the room and right after swiping my room card, the door wouldn't budge and I swear at one point, I would have to kick in the door with the style that Steve McGarrett in Hawaii Five-0 always uses to knock down doors!

Oh, and did I mention that on top of all that, the wireless internet is really slow most of the time? Not good if you're trying to upload photos and videos to your websites.

The cliche goes that you get what you pay for, but this is definitely one of the worst inns I've ever had to stay at. Only good thing is that it's conveniently located next to the freeway, but the exterior and its location doesn't seem welcoming (and definitely not the front desk staff, as mentioned earlier). Pretty much everything is broken! Bottom line: Do not stay here unless your expectations are extremely low, and mine are not that high to begin with when it comes to being on a budget, but this is really bad and disgusting!

Continental breakfast is served from 7-9 AM each day, but the food and drinks are pretty mediocre, if anything! Orange juice seems to be like water flavored very poorly. Cereal didn't seem that fresh.

Having said all of that, Hollywood Gateway Inn can just suck it!
